Feels Great To Have Dead Space Back.
Tumblr media
I've only put about an hour into the newly released Dead Space remake from EA Motive, but I can already tell y'all that it feels good to be back. Part of me wants to claim that it feels so good to be playing Dead Space again because of a dearth of straightforward single player only action horror games, but that just wouldn't be true. Maybe it's disqualified on the basis of "these are all the same series", but Resident Evil 7 and 8, along with the excellent remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 (and soon 4!) have actually kept us all rolling along with this particular genre. Still, Dead Space has something that even the masters over at Capcom never really had. I'm not even sure what it is myself, to be honest, but even just playing an hour of this new remake, you can feel it again. There's something about spending more time on the Ishimura, perhaps one of the least pleasant video game settings of all time. A mining vessel that constantly looks and feels like it might be a bummer to be on board even without the horde of flesh monsters. All industrial corridors and newly bloody hallways. Would you believe this whole depressing ship is purpose built to blow up planets? It sure feels like that's the priority. Like I said, I've only played about an hour of the game thus far, and so far I've only really seen one minor deviation in the games structure, so this may be more of a straightforward remake than some might have been expecting. Still, other parts of it immediately impress me. I'm a huge fan of Isaac having full voice acting now. It makes conversations make a lot more sense when he's the one suggesting fixes for the ships various problems, rather than having a computer science person and a ships captain telling you what to do. After all, he's supposed to be an engineer, these are all problems he was brought here specifically to solve. Very much looking forward to playing more of this remake. Interested if there's any more structural changes. Frankly, just having a great time and glad this series, for the moment anyway, is back.

The Dead Space Remake’s Intensity Director is Terrifyingly Brilliant
EA Motive has crafted something truly special with its Dead Space remake. The game itself is largely the same, but with innovations like the Intensity Director, the studio has basically done the impossible and made a version of Dead Space that matches fans’ memories of the game.

“OUR HOMECOMING WILL BE TRULY DIVINE.”
In just over two weeks time we will once again bravely step aboard the USG Ishimura, a vast mining ship with ALL sorts of problems. Those who played Dead Space the first time around will know what’s to come, and those who haven’t but have seen the brand new Launch Trailer above, well, now they know too. Scared? Perhaps. Excited? Most DEFINITELY.
Isaac Clarke’s return for a next-gen sci-fi horror experience is one that’s certainly got us hungry! Although perhaps hungry is the wrong word with the amount of stomach-churning content that’s to come. On a personal level, after playing through The Callisto Protocol over Christmas and delving into the fear factor that only mutated monsters can deliver, I can safely say that I am ready to once again be scared s**tless on 27th January.
When routine repair mission turns into complete nightmare, it’s left to us to  unravel a thrilling mystery in the darkest depths of space... Like what did the Ishimura crew discover in the darkness? What happened to them? And what does this mean for the future of mankind itself?
“There’s still a way out for us... but we don’t have much time.”
Speaking of time, your window of opportunity to pre-order is closing by the day! Improvise to survive and secure your copy on PS5 & Xbox Series X, right here at The Game Collection!

Motive Studio, bravo on Dead Space remake.
I rolled credits on what entrenches the game in the top 3-5 best games I’ve ever played and solidifies it as a bonafide masterpiece. Reliving it in 2023 proved how much better it was than I remember.
Early GotY contender? Next potential GotY contender and probably my most anticipated game of the year is Resident Evil 4 remake.

Can you imagine how many more fun interactions and snippets we could be getting about Dragon Age: The Veilguard if EA would just sign the damn contract with SAG-AFTRA?
