Mini Fanfic #1255: Now or Never. (Persona 5)

11:28 p.m. at the LeBlanc Café.....................

Futaba: (Smirks Playfully at Ren While Sitting at a Table with Him, Lavenza, and Morgana) Sooooo~ You ready for your special date night with the Queen here, Renny Boy?~

Ren: (Points his Finger Gun at Futaba with a Confident Grin on his Face) As ready as I've always been with all our other dates in the past. Especially since this is the last day of the year.

Lavenza: (Happily Clasps her Hands Together) Such a romantic way to celebrate on this joyous occasion~

Ren: My thoughts exactly. Doubt anything special gonna happen here besides the countdown coming around the corner though.

Morgana: (Casually Shrugs with a Small, Playful Smirk on his Face) You never know~ Anything could happen in a night like this.

Ren: (Simply Nodded in Agreement) True, true. Let's just hope it isn't anything too chaotic.

Futaba: Relax!~ Nothing bad will happen tonight. Hopefully.

Ren: (Snickers a Bit) Nice words of security there, lil sis.

Futaba: (Immediately Pouts at her Big Brother Figure) Oh hush up you!!

The four eyes duo begins to banter at one another while their appointed Coffee Dad, Sojiro is watching them in the background behind the bar booth with Makoto standing next to him.

Sojiro: ('Sigh') Welp. Tonight's finally the night, kiddo. (Turns to Makoto) Still feeling nervous?

Makoto: (Gives Sojiro A Small Confident, but Sheepish Smile on her Face) A little, but not as much as I was when I told my soon to be mothers-in-law about the proposal earlier today.

Sojiro: (Intrigued While Nodding) Ahh, you finally told ypu say? How did that turn out?

Makoto: As well as you expected.

Flashback to a Few Hours Later, Bayonetta and Palutena's Bedroom.......

Palutena: (Sitting at the Front of the Bed With Bayonetta While Giving Makoto a Serious Looking Glare on her Face) So, you're finally going to ask our son's hand in marriage after a few years of being together, at the very last day of the year....

Bayonetta:: (Raises an Eyebrow at Makoto) And now you're standing here in our abode, asking for OUR blessings of the matter?

Makoto: (Simply, but Slightly Nervously Nodded) That's correct. I know it might be too much to ask at this point, Ms. Palutena and Ms. Bayonetta, but-

Bayonetta: (Raises her Hand Up in Front of Her, Instantly Makes Makoto Stop Talking) Nuh-uh, you are not allowed to call us misses anymore, young lady!

Palutena: (Simply Nodded) That's right.

Makoto: (Fearing For the Worse) O-Of course, ma'am. I'm-

Palutena/Bayonetta: (Suddenly Hops Off the Bed and Gives Makoto a Very Tearful Hug) CALL US MOMS INSTEAAAAAAAAD!!~ (Cries Loudly)

Makoto: (Taken Aback by the Sudden Group Hug) Oh! S-So ...does this means I have your blessings after all?

Bayonetta: Of course, dear~ ('Sniff') You've always had our blessings since the very day we first met!~

Palutena: We only wanted to do tough parents act on you once tonight, we didn't mean to scare you like that!!~

Makoto: (Smiles Sheepishly) That's alright, you two. I should've expected all of this to happen in retrospect...

'Door Opens'

Pit: AH!- (Trips Down on the Floor Before Pointing his Finger Up in the Air) We weren't eavesdropping!!

Kirby: (Happily Waves Hello to the Ladies Inside the Room) Hii!~

Pit: (Quickly Gets Himself Back Up From the Ground Before Twiddling his Fingers and Putting on a Bit of an Awkward Smile on his Face) But on the rare chance that we did wind up listening to the whole conversation in the-

Makoto: (Sighs While Playfully Rolling her Eyes a Bit) Yes, Pit-san, I'm planning on marrying your big brother in the near future-

Pit: YAY!!~ (Happily Runs Over and Joins the Makoto Hugfest Along with Kirby) We're officially siblings now!~

Makoto: (Giggles Softly) As in-laws!~

Pit: Same difference, right?

Makoto: (Smiles Softly) Guess so. (Kiss the Top of her Future Brothers in Laws' Heads One by One)

Back to the Present

Sojiro: (Chuckles Lightly) I swear, that family keeps getting wackier by the minute.

Makoto: (Giggles Softly) Definitely!~ I'm so happy to be a part of it. (Turns to Sojiro) Amd have you as my uncle-in-law, sir. (Grabs her Chin While Thinking) But I wonder.......Do I call you just by Uncle-in-Law alone or would "Coffee Dad" suffice?

Sojiro: (Casually Shrugs) I'd be fine woth either one personally. Your friends been calling me Coffee Dad for a long now though, so you might as well go with that.

???: I agree.

Makoto gets startled as turns to see one of her best friends, Ann Takamaki standing next to her on the other side.

Ann: Considering his line of business and fatherly vives, i say the name fits him pretty well, you know?

Makoto: (Genuinely Surprised by Ann's Presence) Ann? W-Where did you come from?

Ann: The back room.

Ann points Makoto to the cafe's back room where the rest of their friend group, Phantom Thieves (including Shiho, Omega and Astro Bot) are seen happily waving hello to Makoto while playing a game of Uno.

Ann: We're currently waiting for our chance to come out when the time is right. (Turns Back to Makoto) You ready to get this main event started?~

Makoto: ('Sigh') Ready as I'll ever be hopefully....

Ann: (Gives Makoto a Shoulders Massage and a Reassuring Smile on her Face) Hey, just remember everything I taught you up to this point: stay calm, don't hesitate, and if there comes a point where it's start getting a little challenging down the line-

Makoto: Find a work around towards the proposal itself and have it play out from there?

Ann: (Genuinely Surprised by the Answer Makoto Just Given Her) .....I was gonna say wing it till you make it, but that works a whole lot better. (Happily and Playfully Slaps the Back Side of Makoto's Arm) Now, go out there and put a ring on your man's finger!~

Makoto: (Giggles Ticklishly by the Slap and Ann's Pep Talk) Alright, I'm going!~ Wish me luck! (Waves Goodbye to Ann and Sojiro For Now Before Finally Makes her Way to Ren and now Her Table)

Ann: (Puts on a Teary Looking Smile on her Face) You see that, Sojiro-San? (Wipes a Singke Tear Off her Eyes) ('Sniff') Our two, dorky lovebirds are growing up fast over there~

Sojiro: (Puts on a Laid Back Smirk on his Face) Still think they still have a few ways to go in adulthood, but I'm inclined to agree to that notion just this once. (Turns to Ann) I'm happy for you and Shiho as well, you know?

Ann: (Smiles Brightly) Thanks!~ I'd be lying through my teeth if I say I wasn't at least a little nervous about the future ahead right now, but I know we have what it takes to face it together. (Turns Back to Her Two Friends in the Distance) Same for those two.

Back to Ren and Co.

Ren: (Playfully Shrugs at a Growling Futaba) Hey, I'm just say. You could work on your maturity a little bit more, kiddo. (Forms a Cocky Smirk) That should definitely be your resolution for the next year coming up.

Futaba: (Comically Glares at Ren) Work on how to keep that smart mouth od yours on a tight lid sometime and THEN we'll talk!!

'Clears Throat'

Ren and Futaba has finally ceased their bickering as them, Mona, amd Lavenza looks up to see Makoto softly glaring down at the duo.

Makoto: Would it kill you two not fight at the final few minutes of the year at least? Lord knows you can't last a whole minute do so in the next one.....

Trio: (Happily Cheersat the Queen in Front of Them) MAKOTO!~

Ren: (Smiles Brightly at his Girlfriend) Finally, the Queen of the hour has arrived. (Forms a Flirty Smirk on his Face) You're looking as beautiful as always~

Makoto: (Smirks Back at her Boyfriend) And you look as obnoxiously cute as you've ever been~ Makes me wanna kiss you already~ (Makes a Single Kiss Noise)

Ren: (Makes a Clicking Sound Through his Teeth While Winking at Makoto)

Morgana: (Immediately Gets Up From his Seat) Annnd that's our cure to leave.

Lavenza: (Follows Behind Mona with a Smile on her Face) We wouldn't want intrude on your special date night together~

Futaba: (Got Up From her Seat as Well) We'll be in the back if you need us. In the meantime- (Forms a Mischievous, Cheeky Grin on her Face) Enjoy the rest of the evening here together~

Futaba/Mona/Lavenza: Nyehehehehehehee!~ (Scurry Their Ways to the Back Room)

Ren: (Raises an Eyebrow at the Trio Scurrying Away) Okay, I don't know which I weirder: those three leaving the moment you've arrived here or hearing Mona and Lavenza do Futaba's gremlin laugh.

Makoto: (Sits Herself Down at the Other Side of the Table) They have been spending time with Futaba for a good while now, it was only a matter of time for them to pick up some of her habits. (Puts on a Bit of a Sheepish Smile on her Face) That being said, I wouldn't worry too much about those three altogether personally. This is our date night after all.

Ren: True, true. We could use all the alone time we can get right now. So how's college life these days?

Makoto: Tiresome, but still a nice experience all things considered. Forgot to tell you beforehand, but I've managed to ace the final exam on Sociology for the semester the days ago.

Ren: (Smiles Proudly at his Queen) Nice! I always knew you can do, hon.

Makoto: (Smiles Back at Ren) Thanks!~ I didn't think I had what it takes at first, truth be told, but I'm glad I was able to prove myself wrong on that day. I hope everything has been going well for you at the bar as of late.

Ren: It has- (Quickly Raise his Hand Up Beside Him) And don't worry! Not a single bar fight has occurred as of late all thanks to that bodyguard Uncle Rodin hired.

Makoto: ('Sighs in Relief') That's very good to hear. (Starts Cracking her Knuckles a Bit) I would hate to have to come over there myself.....

Ren: (Snickers a Bit) And do what? Raise some actual hell in there?

Makoto: (Pouts at Ren) Obviously! You know I don't play when it comes to you and your well being. You'd do the same for me.

Ren: You goddamn right. You're my world, the love of my life- (Place his Hand on his Chest While Singing a Bit) You're my inspiration!~

Makoto: (Starts Snickering into Laughter) Oho my God, Ren!~ That was so cheesy, even for you~

Ren: (Gives Makoto a Playful Glare) Hey, I thought you said you love my cheesiness!

Makoto: No, I seemed to remember telling you that I love and adore you as a whole. Your cheesy side is the only thing I can take or leave- (Starts Smirking at Ren) And I'm more than tempted to leave I behind this year.

Ren: ('Scoffs') Yeah, I like to see you try.

Makoto: (Leans Herself Foward and Over to Ren) An hour or so after the countdown. Your old room upstairs. Don't be late.

Ren: (Leans Over to Makoto) Sounds good to me. Can't wait.

The couple stare at each other for a few seconds until they both end up bursting out laughing and lean back to their seats shortly after.

Makoto: Oho my gosh~ Even in the first stage ofadulthood, we're such a mess~

Ren: Yea-he-hah!~ It's league better than being dull all day that's for sure. (Let's Out a Heavily Sigh, Helping Him Calm Down his Laughter in the Process) But...for real though, I'm glad we're still together now after all this time.

Makoto : (Smiles Softly) Me too. The last few years might have been challenging road for the both us to go through, even more individually, but none of that stop us from making it to the last day of the year.

Ren: Here's hoping we continue pushing through fpr mpre years to come. That sounds like a pretty reasonable New Years Resolution to make, don'tcha think?

Makoto: (Happily Nodded in Agreement) Yeah. It's perfect. (Takes One very Deep Breath Before Speaking Once More) Okay. (Now or never.) Hey, Ren?

Ren: Hm? What's up?

Makoto: There's......something I've been wanting to give you for a while now. A really long while to exact....

Ren: (Raises an Eyebrow, Intrigued) Really now? Must be one helluva a gift if you waited this long to give to me. What's the ocassion?

Makoto: Just a token of being together for this long. I've given a lot of thought and consideration of presenting it to you since the very beginning and regardless of how completely nervous I am about the whole, I refuse to back out of it now, so if you don't mind, could you please just.... close your eyes for a minute? At least when I tell you could?

Ren: Yeah, no problem. (Closes his Eyes) I don't think you have anything to worry about though.

Makoto: You really think so?

Ren: I really know so. You're dating the most laid back dork of the century and a semi easy pleaser to boot.

Makoto: (Snickers a Bit) YOU being a dork is an understatement of the century actually ~

Ren: Don't start, woman. The bottom line is that I'll love anything you give me no matter what it looks like. So quit worrying and give me your best shot. Leader's orders.

Makoto: (Takes Another Deep Breath) if you say so. You can open your eyes now.

Ren: Roger that, your highne-

Ren's eyes slowly starts to widen up to complete surprise at the slight behold right next to him. His Queen of his life, kneeling down on one knee and presenting him with a tiny black box on the palm of his hands.

Makoto: Ren Amimaya, since the very first day we met, I had a low opinion of you just like almost everyone else at our high school at the time. Makoto's eyes begins to widens at the slight of Ren Amimaya, the fearless, cunny leader of the Phantom Thieves and the young man that long since stolen his Queen's heart, starts tearing up as well as he tries to hide it, to little prevail.

Makoto: Oh Ren.....('Sniff') Are you okay?

Ren: Y-Yeah, just- ('Sniff') Give me a moment, will ya? ('Sniff') (Chuckles Lightly) Your words are moving me like a whirlwind right now

Makoto: And? I'll keep scolding you till you stop, which I doubt it would be anytime soon.

Makoto: (Gently Grabs Hold of Ren's Hand) Ren, stop. You have always been a gem to be around and I refuse let you or anyone else say otherwise. The road of marriage won't be easy, but I know we both have what it takes to get through any obstacle that dares to stand in the way of our path.

Ren: As a team?

Ren: (Stares into Makoto's Beautiful Smile Fore a Few Seconds Before Coming Up with the Answer with a Smile of his Own) ('Sniff') Let's fucking go.

Makoto: (Burst Out Laughing Again) Renhen!~ Are you serious right now?

The duo turns to see their group of friends and Sojiro joyously cheering and applauding them for their sweet and successful proposal.

Ren: (Felt the Engagement Ring Gettiing Put on his Finger Whole Talking to his Crew) You guys been watching us this entire time?

Sojiro: (Shakes his Hand Around a Bit) Only at the proposal part. (Forms a Proud Smirk on his Face) And I believe I speak for everyone here that it is about damn time you two numbskulls got engaged.

Thieves: (Applauds the Newly Proposed Couple Once Again) Yeeeah!/ I know that's right!~/Woo!/Zero surprises to this outcome detected.

Futaba: (Happily Sprints Over Ren and Makoto's Tabls) Either way, CONGRATULATIOOOOOONS!~ (Hugs Makoto) I knew you could do it, big sis- In law~ (Winks at Makoto)

Yusuke: (Happily Nodded in Agreement as He Walks Over to the Couple Along with the Others) Truly remarkable indeed.

Haru: (Happily Clasps her Hands Together) Words cannot express how happy we are for you two right now!~

Lavenza: (Smiles Brightly as Well) I couldn't even begin to fathom how romantic the entire ordeal was~ (Turns to Mona) I truly hope my proposal to you will live up to theirs in the distant future.

Morgana: Yeah, I- (Eyes Widened at What Lavenza Just Said as She Lays the Side of her Head onto his Shoulder) Future......(Starts Blushing) P-P-Proposal!?~

Ann/Ryuji: REN!~ (Pulls Ren into a Very Loving Group Trio Hug)

Ryuji: (Playfully Gives Ren a Noogie) How's it feel to finally be a married man, my bro?~

Ren: (Chuckles Ticklishly) Unexpected, but amazing all the same. I'm super happy right now.

Ann: (Smiles Brightly) You better be, we're finally marrying the women of our dreams!~

Ren: (Shares a Hi-Five with Ann) Hell yeah! There's so much to do to set up for the wedding, I don't know where to start.

Ann: You know, Shiho and I been thinking about this for awhile now, but how would you guys like to share the wedding with us?

Ren: As like a real huge one? Are you sure you don't mind?

Ann: (Happily Nodded) Of course we don't. We'd be saving Momma Peach the trouble from setting up two seperate weddings if we have one together. And besides- (Places her Hands onto Ren's Shoulders while Giving him a Sincere Look in her Eyes) There's no one I would rather share this beautiful moment with than with one of my best friends in the whole world: you, Renny.

Ren: (Heart Begins to Melt as He Starts Tearing Up Again While Chuckling) ('Sniff') D-Damnit, Ann!~ Is this "Make Ren Cry Day" today? What the fuck!?~

Ryuji: (Forms a Teasing Grin) Well, if want us to make it an unofficial holiday, then-

Ren : (Comically Glares and Pounts at his Best Friend) Don't even think about it, Sakamoto!!

Ann: Relax, 'hon. (Hugs Ren Again) Gotta let your tears out every once and a while. We love you~

Ren: ('Sniff') Love you jerks, too.

Ryuji: Love us enough to make "Ren Cry Day" official?

Ren: (Glares at Ryuiji Again) What did I JUST say!?

Ann: Quit being a boob, Ryuji!

Ryuji: (Casually Shrugs) Hey, it ain't my fault I got him crying again.

Ann: (Comically Glares) It will be if ya don't hush up!

Ren: Yeah!!

Makoto: (Sighs While Watching the Trio Banters Back and Forth with One Another Along with Shiho) Those three has GOT to be the biggest dorks in this planet.

Shiho: (Snickers a Bit) I know~ And we're about to marry two of then one of these days~ (Turns to Makoto) How do you feel now that finally proposal?

Makoto: Relieved and blessed that it's all over and done with. (Smiles at Shiho) I can't thank you enough for going ring shopping with me months ago. I doubt I would have half the courage to pull it off if I didn't.

Shiho: (Smiles Sheepishly) It's nothing, really. I'm just glad we're both able to do it before the year ends. I can't wait for what the next one will have in store for us.

Makoto: Yeah, me too.

Omega: Twenty one seconds until the countdown reaches zero!

Sojiro: (Eyes Widened) Shit, it's starting already? (Sighs While Patting on his Pants Pocket and Then his Aporn) Where the hell did I put that remote?

Futaba: Go long!

Sojiro: Huh? (Notices the Remote Flying Towards Him Before Astro Bot Catches his for Him with One Hand) ('Sighs in Defeat') What am I going to do with that girl of mines? (Smiles Down at the Mini Robot Standing on his Shoulder) Nice catch, little guy.

Astro Bot happily nods and gives the remote to Sojiro. As he turns on the TV, the ball is now counting down to.....
