The Amazing Digital Circus Theory: Nothing is Real
I just watched (and rewatched) The Amazing Digital Circus and I absolutely love it, especially with the music. Pomni is my favourite anxiety-filled jester, Kingster is the most relatable character there is, Gangle is precious and should be protected, Jax is literally just the classic yellow-gloved Bugs Bunny, and Ragatha is the nicest person in the cast. Oh, and there's also Caine and Bubble, the beloved showman duo.
I don't really know anything about it outside of the pilot but I still want to put my two cents in the whole theory thing. A-hem! So, the theory goes:
The cast isn't trapped in this digital world; they're DIGITAL COPIES of the original persons.
In September 2015, a science fiction survival horror game was released, titled "SOMA". The game is about a man named Simon Jarrett who, after doing an experimental brain scan to help with his brain damage, was transported to a futuristic underwater lab that is completely taken over by a rouge AI known as the WAU.
Spoiler alert! This game deals with the concept of consciousness as well as the Ship of Theseus, except there's no real body. See, the big plot reveal in the game was that Simon wasn't transported to the future at all; the Simon we've been playing as was really a personality copy of the original Simon, which became the basis of AI technology. The real human Simon lived the rest of his days as usual and eventually died from his brain injury. This plot point about not being the real Simon was not only brought up once, nor twice, but THREE TIMES, each more devastating than the last.
What's happening in the Amazing Digital Circus is something like that. Pomni stated that she wore a headset and was suddenly transported here. But what if that's not true? What if Pomni is actually a digital copy of the real human Pomni (who's name we don't know)? What if that's the case for all of them, minus Caine and Bubbles who are more likely to be true AI made to help them and keep them sane?
This is why none of them can't escape. Because there's no such thing. They're not trapped in this circus purgatory; it's literally the only place they can exist. The real human selves are probably unaware at all. Real-life Pomni probably was playing a game and is now having dinner with her family, blissfully unaware that her personality had been copypasted into The Amazing Digital Circus. Turning into an Abstract is just what happens when their data becomes corrupted, which is exacerbated from insanity. Keeping sane means their data stays clean, or maybe their data becoming corrupted is what makes them insane and Abstracted. The chicken or the egg?
Calling it now; if this theory is true, then Pomni will learn that she herself is not real and this could cause other characters becoming Abstracted, maybe even herself. It could lead to them figuring out how to undo Abstracts, or at least destroy them completely, giving them a way out (through deletion).
As for why their personalities were copied and put into this place... Who knows? It could be an experiment performed by the C&A company, or it could be a glitch in the matrix that became self-aware and isn't big enough of a deal to be dealt with, like an old defunct project.
Man, I am so looking forward to Ep1 :D

October is almost here!! Any idea what the mercs would dress up as to celebrate halloween?
Love your writing :D
TF2 Mercs Halloween Costumes!
————————————————————
I'm gonna cry I love Halloween and I'm also really glad you like my writing 😭
Mutual appreciation comment: Thank you for such a fun request and thank you for being a mutual, ily 💖
————————————————————
I tried super hard to come up with originals ones and not like opt out into easy costumes, I sorted through many a costumes and my god some were so bad.
————————————————————
Demo dresses up as the Grim Reaper and doesn't hold back on making his costume as scary as he can. Like this man is going to make at least one kid piss themselves. His costume gives people (Scout) Nightmares. It's even scarier/funnier when he gets drunk and starts stumbling around and groaning, looks like he's about to actually harvest someone's soul. The other mercs end up having to carry him home, and apologizing to multiple angry parents, Demo is only allowed to wear less scary costumes or at least not get wasted while wearing a scary one.
————————————————————
Engie and Pyro have to go together, I'd be so wrong not to put them down as having a duos costume. Kronk and Yzma, please it's such a funny concept to have Engie as an evil (semi) mastermind and Pyro as a well meaning but slightly dumb sidekick. I just love this idea so much. Their so silly going trick or treating together, people are a little freaked out by them but it's all in good fun I'm sure. If anyone dares say anything about them being "to old." there will be hell to pay from Engie.
————————————————————
Heavy is Michaels Myers, I just think this fits so well? Like? I don't know how to elaborate on this one other than the fact that he'd play the part so well. Also, if we're talking about the fear factor like we did with Demo, and costume this man wears is terrifying everyone, it just so happens that dressing up as Michael Myers yielded the most terrifying reaction. Made kids cry, felt bad about it, probably went back to the base after that happened, or just took off the mask. Gets made fun of for this for at least a month afterwards.
————————————————————
I have rewrote this for Medic at least six times now. I want this man to dress up as a nurse so bad it's not even funny. I'm going feral over here guys, I'm using all my restraint to not go into graphic detail about Medic being a nurse for Halloween. But for this prompt I will attempt to be a normal and sane human being, and go with an almost cliché, I think he'd be a plague doctor for Halloween. He loves his job, what can I say, of course it'd transition over to his Halloween costume. I think he'd also just like the look of it, and it doesn't help that this man is a history nerd who was obsessed with the plague. Dresses up Archimedes as a tiny plague doctor so he can take him with, introduces Archimedes as his assistant. Also manages to get the bird head tilt thing on point and pull that move every so often to freak people out.
————————————————————
Scout is going as Beetlejuice. I think he'd be able to act as gross and silly as Beetlejuice. ALSO kind of obscure but not really, in an episode of The Amazing World of Gumball, Gumball dresses up as Beetlejuice while scamming the entire city of candy and I honestly saw that and though, oh yeah scout would do that. Like my man manages to get as much candy as he possibly can, he is ruthless. Accidently uses semipermanent hair dye instead of the washout stuff and has green hair for about six months after Halloween.
————————————————————
Sniper was planning to just go as he was, Scout begs him to dress up, it being traditional and all. Decides he's pretty much dressing like a cowboy at all times anyway, so why now just roll with it? Manages to beat the system with this one, and bearly puts on anything new for his costume. Makes a lasso buys a sheriff star and some boots and deems his outfit complete. Scout is mildly disappointed but still happy he could at least convince him to dress up.
————————————————————
Is it to much if I say Spy would be a princess for Halloween? Is it too much if I say a specific Disney princess? I mean it's not my fault that Cinderella is so iconic, and that Spy would slay so hard in that dress, like come on, I can't stop putting him in dresses now. If that's not what people wanted they wouldn't have made the art of Spy in a dress. And you know this man has the glass heels, takes dressing up very seriously. Maybe even makes a couple of stuffed mice to keep on his dress to make it look more accurate to the movie, who knows.
————————————————————
I think it would be so funny if Soldier dressed up like a revolutionary soldier, but I won't go for something so easy, I refuse. I'll say he'd dress up as a werewolf, but with a twist, he's a were-raccoon! He'd make the costume himself and be so proud. Shows it to his raccoon pals (I don't know if this was someone's headcanon or actual canon but either way, I agree he has pet raccoons), and they cheer.
————————————————————
Sorry it's not super long! I don't know why my headcanons have gotten less detailed, maybe the brain rot is that severe, but I still loved doing this one. and I'm glad I could at least get this one done!
I promise one of these days I'll get back into being able to do longer posts!
Love you guys 💖

five comfort characters, five tags
I was tagged by @srtruth here and @bleachbleachbleach here. (Linked so you can go read their answers!!!)
Thank you both! I'm historically bad at remembering to do these, so I appreciate you even tagging me lol.
To me, a comfort character is one I can fall back on when I want to write or read or see something familiar and do so consistently with that character. What Would Blorbo Do? I know exactly what they'd do and so it's easy to include them in things I write. In general, Blorbo Soup for the Soul, I guess lmao.
Mayuri Kurotsuchi. My favorite blorbo. His terrarium is costly, expansive, and in view at all times. He's so theatrical & contradictory, yet at his core there's this simplicity of what he wants to be and how he views himself. And I just don't get tired of it! Definitely a beetle undergoing reconstructive surgery to better fit it's aesthetics of evolution and choosing the life of a caterpillar instead. Dug his way out of the dirt and said 'that's not who I am, actually, I'll never be that again.'
Kenpachi Zaraki. Probably the oldest blorbo of this list, tbh. A verified onion. Huge angst potential, let alone the angst fulfilled in canon. He's like if Icarus made it and laughed the whole way there, even as the Sun started to do irreparable damage to his foresight and burned everyone who made it with him to ash. He's like if the Minotaur knew the way out the whole time but continued to wander because he was so, so scared to find out the sun and stars and the sea breeze wouldn't be everything he dreamed they'd be and if they were, that they'd disappear just as he was starting to realize how wonderful it all felt.
Retsu Unohana. Second oldest blorbo after Zaraki. I just really love that you can FEEL how much she wants to live as simply as Zaraki, but she genuinely can't. She's dedicated herself towards too much. She can't ever go back. She slammed that fridge door on herself with zero hesitation. Queen of being a two-faced bitch telling herself she's one missed meditation away from going back to hunting down worthwhile fights in the middle of nowhere, but really she's just going to make the 4th division a nightmare hospital visit for anyone who pisses her off too much that day.
Giselle Gewelle. One of the newest blorbos! I love that she's a simple character with such complicated baggage. What does she want? To live! How does she want to live? With her bffs! How is she going to do that? By turning everyone into hyper-dependent undead puppets who are forced into a symbiotic relationship with her the moment they cease to live, forced to feel the same pain of stagnation as her, forced to realize that their life was a gift and her being content to let them live was a gift, that she can bleed so easily and that she didn't for so long was a Gift. You know! Just girly things. <3
A tie between Akon & Nanao Ise. Newer blorbos, for sure. Fellow workaholics who can stay sane under insane conditions & highly unreasonable employers. The hyper competent duo whose squads are being held up by their ability to maintain a straight face toward their captains when most would quit in less than a week. Definitely average less than 10 days of PTO used a year. Not just blorbos, but comrades.
Tagging with peace and love and no pressure: @wing-ed-thing @stupid-sloot-headcanons @tuliharja @a-libra-writes @j-u-u-z-o

OK you might only have 3 pics for it but I'm loving your FS D&D idea. Question what are the characters relationships to each other outside the context of the game. Like what prompted Vio to try rolling for seduction with Shadow's Self Insert
Hello yes! I’m very glad you’re enjoying it!
Vio and Red are identical twins (obviously). They’re a very chaotic duo and the motivation behind most of their actions (especially in the campaign) is to get the story going completely off the rails! Vio flirting with the villains, Red constantly messing with Blue, both of them stepping in when it’s important but usually having plans to be of no help whatsoever for shits and giggles.
I know that Blue and Shadow are very close friends (I mean, all of them are close, except Green, he’s kind of new). Shadow has the upper hand in messing with Blue, however. His bad luck always works in Shadow’s favor. Blue is very tired. Help him.
Green is the new guy in the group. He knows them all already, but hasn’t hung out with them that much. It’s likely that one of the twins dragged him to one of Shadow’s campaigns against his will; he’s still trying to figure out the ropes, and struggling to come to terms with the fact that staying on track is a lost cause with these boys. He just wants a semi-serious adventure that stays on script, dang it!
I haven’t really figured out everyone’s relationships in a further fleshed out sense, but I do have some ideas floating around in my head!
- Vio and Shadow are absolutely partners. Romantic, platonic, in crime, for school projects… it’s unclear! But they are together, and they are making it everyone else’s problem.
- I, personally, love the appeal of Green x Vio. However, my good, perfectly sane friend @glitchedfoxx has me absolutely sold on Green x Blue. So, for now any ships are undecided, because I can’t make up my mind.
- I’ve got an idea in my head of Princess Zelda being based off of (or at least named after) Shadow’s little sister! While I like the idea of Zelda and Link being in relationships romantically in some scenarios, personally I tend to prefer her relationship with the colors in Four Swords to be more sibling-like. So, perhaps the Princess Zelda in the campaign could be a character created by IRL Zelda, that Shadow put in because he loves his sister! I just love the concept of Shadow and Zelda having a sibling dynamic, and making Zelda in this AU actually be Shadow’s little sister makes my heart very happy.
- as you can probably already tell, Shadow is not evil in any sense of the word in this AU. He’s just a wicked DM, the kind that takes any opportunity available to completely screw over the party. In real life, he’s a very kind and sweet person— though, his sense of humor can be disturbingly dark. It’s off-putting to people who don’t know him that well.

[Series Review] Trillion Game (2023) - an exhilaring fun ride from start to finish
I watched like four Japanese series in 2023 so I'm not sure I'm qualified to rank anything but for me personally, Trillion Game is the BEST Japanese series of 2023. The story and solutions felt cheesy at times but pacing, acting/cast, music, rewatch value. 10/10. I am so happy I decided on a whim to watch this after being in a slump of not being able to truly enjoy any series after I finished another drama which I considered my favorite series of 2023.
STORY
We follow Haru (Meguro Ren), an extremely charming communicator and Gaku (Sano Hayato), a brilliant IT engineer as they encounter obstacles on their start-up journey together. It is VERY fast paced drama with each episode following a certain formula that you'll figure out by the second episode. For the majority of the series, each episode starts with present Gaku, CEO of Trillion Game, reminiscing his and Haru's past adventures in the early days of their start-up business. While each episodes may seem formulaic, the stories are never boring and I found myself binging everything from start to finish, not being able to stop for a second. We've seen the unhinged genius x sane down-to-earth duo a bazillion times before but I think what makes this particular story so charming is the characterization of Haru who is self-proclaimed "the most selfish man in the world" but all his actions are completely contradictory, always self-less and putting everyone's needs above his. I love Haru so much. I don't know what they laced in the series but I am down bad for Tennoji Haru and I get why Princess Kiri wants Haru so bad as well, like same here sis.
ACTING/CAST
Meguro Ren and Imada Mio are just the most enigmatic actors, truly powerhouses. From edits on Youtube on Tiktok, you'd think these two have a lot of screen time together but they DON'T. Regardless, even when acting separately, they are bringing everything to the table and when they get scenes together, the chemistry is CHEMISTRYING. The sizzling tension between Haru and Princess Kiri are just top-notch. Sano Hayato and Fukumoto Riko are also just the most adorable nerds as Gaku and Rinrin. I love our four main leads so damn much. There's this one scene from Episode 2 where the first thing Haru does after receiving their initial 30 million yen investment is to bath in money and I remember thinking this is so nonsensical but at the same time found myself with the stupidest grin on my face watching Haru pushing Gaku out of his comfort zone to do all these insane things with him. I LOVE THEM. Meguro Ren is truly an enigmatic powerhouse in this one. I have only seen Meme in like three other dramas but Haru is definitely my top favorite Meguro Ren role ever.
MUSIC
The score is so energetic and fun. I love the main theme song of the series which is Dangerholic by Snow Man. The song is SAUR good I haven't skipped single outtro of any episode just to listen to this song. I watched a lot of series this year but Dangerholic is probably taking the crown as my favorite OST of 2023 in this very last minute race. As previously mentioned , Trillon Game has very exciting and energizing score and I'd argue that many business/office scenes are hard-carried by the score and excellent editing.
REWATCH VALUE
This series get a 100000000 for rewatch value because I just finished it and I'm already considering for another rewatch just because of how much fun I had watching it. But also because each episodes are so self-contained, Trillion Game will be fairly easy to rewatch any random episode in this series because you don't really need to the past episode to enjoy one, a recap at the beginning of each episode will do just fine. The tension between Haru and Princess Kiri is so insane even though there's no explicit romance going on. I think I need to rewatch it just for THEM.
PRODUCTION
This was definitely a low budget drama but TBS definitely made do with what they got. I understand if Princess Kiri's wardrobe alone was where most budget was allocated to. Like deserved! Trillion Game's strength lies more in the acting and story department so I wouldn't say this was a high value production but I will say I love all the rooftop scenes between Haru and Gaku. Those rooftop conversation scenes between them are just beautiful and heart-warming.
OVERALL
I love Haru with my entire heart. WATCH TRILLION GAME FOR HARU PLEASE.

Some Bluey OCs
I drew eight of these guys a long while ago but I decided to go back and draw a little more of them. Plus I then drew two more. So now there's ten.
M a t h.
Tumblr media
The Husky is called Chris (he/him)
The German Shepherd is called Diddums (he/him)
Tumblr media
The Golden Lab is called Anthony (he/him)
The Brown Lab is called Thomas (he/him)
Tumblr media
I guess Ruby is meant to be an American Cocker Spaniel (she/her)
Another German Shepherd named Jasmine (she/her)
Tumblr media
The Black Lab is Simon (he/him)
Kate is a Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog (she/her)
Tumblr media
The Pomeranian is Marsh (short for Marshmallow) (he/she)
And finally, Reuben is pretty much a mix between a Border Terrier and an Airedale Terrier. (he/they)
Transparent and lore(?) undercut:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So their relationship with one another is simple. They are a group of friends.
Chris and Diddums are best friends, and knew each other since they were eight. Chris is the more level headed one out of the two and Diddums is pretty much the star of the show, giving how much I use him for silly tactics and such. But Chris was seen to be the "leader" of the group, if it ever came down to it.
Anthony, Thomas, and Simon are brothers. Simon is the oldest and Thomas is the youngest. Anthony and Diddums are pretty much a chaotic duo, with Anthony being the slightly more sane one. They pretty much share a braincell.
Thomas is the shy one of the group. The ones who stick up for him the most are his brothers, Jasmine, and Diddums. But pretty much everyone sticks up for him at all.
Ruby and Jasmine are besties. Chris has a crush on Ruby, while Jasmine probably maybe perhaps.. likes.. Thomas (a Daisy x Luigi, if you will). Who knows, maybe Ruby has feelings for Chris as well, maybe Thomas (all though intimidated) admires Jasmine's fierceness and strength. Jasmine and Thomas might become a couple first out of the two ngl.
Oh and I almost forgot, Diddums and Jasmine are siblings.
Simon and Kate started out as friends in middle school and are currently collage roommates, they only started out collage with one year and they have been dating since highschool. They at first appeared to be the more mature ones of the group but eventually ends up displaying as a couple of goofballs. They just needed to learn that they were allowed to relax and have fun. Especially Simon.
And finally, Marsh and Reuben were only friends with each other before they met the others. It took a while for them to be in the group but once everyone knew the duo, they eventually did. Reuben is the supposed scruffy one who doesn't mind doing the dirty work and Marsh although is clean doesn't mind helping him out whenever he needs it.
Pretty much everyone in this friend group are teenagers, the older ones are Simon, Kate, and probably Marsh and Reuben.
Thank you for reading if you did! If not that's ok! Have a good rest of your day! 😁🌟✨

Hi, and happy blorbo blursday! (as usual I am @writeblr-of-my-own).  I am back and ready to get in the game! For today's question, imagine your characters were in a cartoon TV show (such as Total Drama, Adventure Time, Kim Possible etc). What would their signature outfit be? The one they will never change for the duration of the season, possibly of the whole show? What would be one bit they keep doing or their signature sentence?
Happy blorbo blursday!!
This would be very interesting to answer for B&W because all the characters have their circus outfits, so I'm not gonna do that bc it's boring.
In the dystopia WIP, I've always had a very clear image of what Cristover, Nester and Alexis's outfits look like. Especially Alexis. Their outfit appeared 100% complete in my brain and I never changed it bc it was perfect.
I once did character sheets for all the characters and, while none of them is fully coloured, most of them had a little sketch just to kinda study colours and shapes. And this was Alexis:
Tumblr media
Some of the colours are kinda off and the yellow is supposed to be gold but this is the general idea. They're a ridiculously wealthy swordmaster living a life of hedonism and I think this really captures that vibe, especially when you add their facial expressions. They also always have amazing black and gold graphic-ish eyeliner.
Their outfit changes slightly throughout the story to include more red, to represent how they fall deeper and deeper in love with Veera and how this love gradually distances them from their old life (red is Veera's colour, her outfit also gains more gold elements).
If they had to keep the sane outfit throughout the whole "show", I have decided they would only change their outfit once. When they find out that Veera was secretly sent to assassinate them and is probably not even in love with them (she is), we see them venture out of their property for the first time. In this scene they're wearing nothing but red, no gold to be seen - they're not even wearing eyeliner.
Ok, to put this in simple terms, Alexis very vaguely represents "the rich" (together with Nester, the only other character who's main colour is a metallic tone), and Veera represents "the people", since she's the kinda-leader of the common people's revolt. In this scene, Alexis finally leaves their house (the bubble in which the wealthy live, out of touch with the world) and finds their way to a poorer part of Silver City (where Veera is from, they specifically find their way to the building the revolutionaries are using as headquarters) to finally see the real world and learn about Veera's cause. This kickstarts a redemption arc btw.
The colour-switching in a character duo also happens with Cris and Nester, but it means a very different thing and I've already written too much.
Anyway, here are some of the sketches for the other characters:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are, in this order: Vi, Veo, Veta, and Veera. Veera's design has changed a bit since this was made, but the general shapes and colours are still correct.
As for bits that keep showing up, I guess it would be that everyone struggles to pronounce Vi's full name because of how long it is (it's Anastavius Greterssen). It's not even that hard, but he always pronounces it with his native accent (which is kinda nordic-sounding) and always writes it out in his native language's alphabet, which the other characters can't read. The only time anyone ever saw his name in the "normal" alphabet was his and Veta's marriage certificate, which they lost when they got exiled.

The last member of Alton Towers’ secret weapons (at least, for now), introducing the one and only Wickerman!
Wickerman, or just Wicker for short, is the youngest and most recent member to join Team SW.
He’s a fireball of energy with an enthusiasm that can almost rival Smiler’s, and is incredibly curious about the world of Alton Towers seeing as he spent all of his life being isolated in the woods before. Like most Beornen, Wicker feels very connected to nature and the woodland surrounding the park. He has a dislike of modern technology and believes it’s a bad influence on the world, you can typically expect to hear the phrase “kids these days and their god damn phones” from him, which does make the other guardians laugh given that he himself is a kid. Unlike the other Beornen though, Wicker is a lot more eager to discover new things and learn more about the modern world. He is fascinated by all of the fun events Towers puts on, with Scarefest being his favourite. Autumn and Winter are his favourite seasons in general, because he gets to use his fire to warm everything up. He’s not keen on Summer but that’s mostly because he’s terrified of bees. Wicker is very playful but also knows when to take his responsibilities seriously during important missions. He’s also sassy. Very much so. He’s not afraid to roast the other secret weapons (metaphorically) and has a very snarky sense of humour.
Wicker considers Thirteen to be his best friend, as they’re both kids who share a love of nature and are very playful. The two are often known to pull pranks on the other ride guardians and each other, with Galactica being their usual target as she’s the most “sane/responsible” one of the group and is often found “babysitting” the younger rides. The pranks have no malicious intent though, and it’s usually just typical silly kid antics like TP’ing the ride station or hiding things in trees. Wicker also gets along quite well with Thirteen’s neighbour Rita, and she’ll usually join in when him and Thirteen are being chaotic, giving them the nickname “chaos trio” among the other ride guardians. Though, Wicker really does not understand why Rita loves cars so much. Wicker tends to be a little aloof around the X-Sector duo, as they’re very focused around technology and he does not care for that. However, he’s happy to work alongside them, with Oblivion and Smiler tending to encourage his prankster nature. Smiler pranks him back a lot but Wicker doesn’t mind, it only motivates him to get him back even better! There’s a bit of a silent (but friendly) war between the two of them especially during big events.
As he represents the coaster that fuses wood and fire, it’s no surprise that Wicker’s special power is pyrokinesis. He can produce fire out of thin air, which he uses as an attack during battles against enemies, but he also uses it for practical things too such as cooking food and providing warmth on cold days. Oh, and sacrificing random parkgoers. That too. When confronted with something modern he doesn’t understand, his usual response is to freak out and try to set it on fire, but he’s gradually learning to understand that not everything new is dangerous, even if he still doesn’t like it.
Since ride guardians are completely invisible to most humans, with some exceptions, the Beornen can’t actually see Wicker, assuming him to be some sort of grand deity rather than just a kid running around in the woods. However, some humans have are born with the rare ability to see ride guardians, and one of the Beornen has this ability, serving as an Oracle that passes on Wicker’s messages to the rest of the group. I’ll probably explain this better in another post!!
As a member of Team SW, Wicker is still figuring out what that actually means. He’s learning to deal with his responsibilities and is learning more about the world as he does so. Since arriving at the park he’s made some strong friendships and is seen as the “youngest sibling” in the team’s found family dynamic. Over the years his confidence and trust in the others has grown, and though he may still be a little confused about some aspects of Alton Towers, he’s certainly got the spirit!

Don't worry about taking a while to respond!! we don't mind.
I LOVE Cassidy crying child as well (and have a Cassidy CC fictive headmate as well dfkgjhfgd) and I use it for several AUs including my main fnaf au. To answer your question about the designs, I'm thinking that Baby's appearance is altered to fit the other animatronics- i tend to stylize them all like real life vintage animatronics anyway, but Baby looks more like the others in the swap AU!
We might tell you more about some of our AUs soon, but in the meantime, what's your favorite of your AUs? Or any that you feel like sharing?
(Happy fnaf movie birthday!! We're gonna see it tonight we're so excited)
head in fucking hands. i have typed up a response to this twice now and tumblr keeps fucking eating it i hate mobile.
OKAY. third times the charmmm!!!
thank youu <3
same hat!!!! i only have them in logical error tho cause so far thats the only one where its relevant so far lol. i should really make a flashlight duo au or something. dont get me wrong, love evan cc having a best friend cassidy, but something about lonely cassidy cc who blames their dad more than mike for their death, ughhh.
changing baby definitely makes the most sense since shes the most “out of place,” her canon design being a different location, you know what i mean lol. but i know some people love to take on that challenge of “okay, but what if i redesigned everyone else instead of taking the sane route?” (its me im some people) also YES love vintage real life animatronics!!
oughhh my fave it probably logical error… i cant share a lot about it unfortunately twt
BUT! i can share one thing!! the twins’ (mangle’s heads) are named valerie (‘main’ head with casing) and eirelav (endo head)!! val and eire (eye-ra) for short! ive made up a whole little thing which i explained best in my second try at replying to this ask, but basically, cassie has a miscolored roxy plush that she named “valerie,” her best cross between roxy(/ie) and valentine. this roxy plush was a defect plush cause they put the wrong fabrics or the wrong patterns into the machines, so they had a small batch of chica-colored roxys and roxy-colored chicas (which cassie also has one of, whom i desperately need to name lol). i will draw them eventually i think they are so silly, her dad gave them to her and she thinks theyre both hilarious and adorable <3
okayyy i would say more but 1. third time writing this and still have to do. tags. and 2. i dont have anymore ideas lolll
HOPE YALL HAD FUN!!!!! i have to wait til the fifth of november and i am going insane. shaking violently. i am not leaving that fucking theatre seat til the credits. (which will suck cause no stimming but WHATEVER!!!!! ILL LIVE!!!!)

meet the tanners
twins. guardians. curly redheaded disasters. most likely to end up fired for breaking rules to do the Right Thing and help out the people they care for
sasha radiates big sibling energy and falls into that role a lot, accustomed to caring for their sick and aging father and comfortable in a protective role with her brother, but mikhail is actually just slightly older, and there are times when he’s very much the older brother taking care of her and she really counts on that and my heart swells very much.
sasha is aromantic and doesn’t get their romantic mess of a brother at all. while sasha doesn’t feel much in the way of romantic feelings, mikhail invented being in love with his wife. no one does it like him. the laughing stock at work because he chases birds around taking pictures for his wife because she loves birds and they make her happy and he doesn’t care one bit. however, both are bisexual and super sexy.
they both love music and have beautiful voices, would probably be a really incredible sibling duo in another life. sasha still sings in this one just for the enjoyment of it (as in like, in public, if the opportunity presents itself), whereas mikhail sings and hums to himself without realizing and annoys all of his coworkers (and sometimes intentionally to his wife, in a much more tender and personal way.)
sasha’s a big ‘daughter’ fan along with many other artists in the alternative/indie genre. likes that deep, sad music that makes you feel, and likes it loud enough to blow her eardrums out. they feel like it’s all that keeps them sane sometimes. mikhail’s more indie/folk as well as opera. neither are picky though and love listening to and experimenting with different sounds. it’s something they both really enjoy and something of a bonding activity for them.
both have fairly frequent nightmares. sasha used to sleep with a stake in hand until they woke up in the middle of the night to mikhail trying to disarm them after they’d reacted to him trying to wake them by trying to stake him. he still has a scar down his neck edging upwards onto his jaw from the incident. the life of a guardian is hard and filled with violence and they’ve been given very few resources to cope with it. mikhail’s struggles are more internal, but no less present.
mikhail grapples heavily with depression.
both very good caretakers who will are incredibly incredibly loyal and will stick with you to the end no matter the cost to themselves. they’ve demonstrated this loyalty and paid for it dearly and they wouldn’t change a thing. however, their approaches are different; both are good on an individual or micro level, but sasha tends to focus on the big picture and where staying with the person in need comes very naturally to mikhail.
while sasha is excellent at taking care of those under their care, they become impatient and restless when they can’t do more. sasha needs activity, action. she’s sharp and good at understanding implications and reading in between the lines and picking up on important nuances but not as in tune with individuals on a personal basis as mikhail is and when it comes down to it, she’s looking at the system as a whole and the harm it is causing the people she cares for and how does she make it stop. in contrast, while mikhail is ready to show up and do whatever is needed, his thought process is how to i support and empower the people around me? how do i elevate their voices? how do i make things better for them? how am i there for them?, which in turn leads to broader involvement rather than the other way around. mikhail understands that sitting with you is doing something, and he’s okay doing that if that’s what you need.
mikhail’s a science nerd. sasha thinks it’s gross. they secretly get queasy at the experiments. he teases her about it and she can’t stand him.
raised mostly by their grandparents. their mother was a guardian who was killed in battle when they were rather young. had no knowledge of their moroi father until they were both older, and he had no knowledge of them. they reconnected when their father discovered their existence and made contact. they both become very close with him, and sasha was assigned nearby. he later became sick, and she bore the brunt of caring for him as mikhail was stationed far away and couldn’t be around.
they love each other fiercely but don’t always understand each other, which can lead to a lot of hurt and painful miscommunication. a lot of this is amplified by guardian life, which can keep people separate even when they live in the same zip code. they live very hard lives and have very few opportunities to heal past wounds, but they’d do anything for each other.

I like to think the men of outpost 31 are friends.
Garry and Bennings have known each other for a decade. They’ve worked together for years and are most likely close. They could’ve signed up for the expedition together. If you’re going to be isolated from the rest of the world it’s probably comforting to have a man you’ve known for years by your side during it.
Norris plays poker with Garry and Bennings. Have they known each other for as long? They spend their free time together after a long, stressful day. That has to account for something. Maybe they stay up late playing card games together in comfortable silence.
Nauls is a loving man. He teases Palmer. He screams Windows’ name when he gets mauled by a thing. Wonder what it was like being friends with two people who couldn’t stand each other. Probably a bit awkward. Nauls plays pool with Clark, a man who doesn’t seem social, after a long day. Clark is a quiet man who doesn’t seem to be close to people, yet he happily plays pool with Nauls after a chaotic day. Possibly Clarks favorite people on base are his dear malamutes and Nauls
Mac trusts Windows quickly, oddly enough. Mac trusts Windows and Palmer to tie everyone up, then just Windows to remain untied. What if Windows was a thing? He would be unrestrained and capable of anything. Still, Mac takes the risk. Sadly Windows still dies. Wonder if they spent time together. Mac seems to like his privacy and during downtime Windows is usually doing his own thing while still being around the others. Maybe Mac tells Garry to calm down when Windows slacks while on the job. Maybe Mac has gotten Windows to play chess with him a few times. I bet Windows loses most of the time
Fuchs puts his trust in Blair, Copper, and MacReady. Fuchs trusting Blair and Copper make sense, considering how they worked together. Fuchs looks up to them. Fuchs is incredibly worried when Blair shuts him out and immediately looks for answers. Fuchs, even when Copper is a suspect, doesn’t want Copper locked up. He says he needs him- he can’t work alone. Blair and Copper seemed to be friends too. Maybe Fuchs tagged along, what with him being Blair’s assistant. Fuchs trust of Mac is more confusing. Maybe he admired MacReadys confidence. Fuchs is a man who needs people around to rely on. One of the last things Fuchs sees is Macs tattered clothes, making him believe that he got assimilated. All the people Fuchs believed in became unreliable. No wonder suicide is a common theory for his death.
Childs and Palmer are a fun duo. They’re both mechanics and roommates. They work close together and they live close together. Going off the script, they also have a garden together. Childs seems to also keep to himself, but Palmer is obviously his friend. Even with the “who said I want you going with me?” Line, I still think they’re friends. He holds back Windows when he tried to get physical. When Mac is accused of being a thing, Childs and Palmer stick close together while they nail things shut. Before everything went bad, they’re shown smoking and watching tv together. After a tense day, it’s nice to watch tv and smoke with a friend.
When you’re trapped in the Arctic it’s good to make friends. It keeps you sane. Humans are a social species, even if someone is introverted. People need each other and the men of the outpost need each other. Sadly, with something like The Thing, you can’t trust your friends.

Dynamics I want is ST5
El-Mike-Will: Can’t for Will do get over Mike and the two of them and El becoming a power trio. Just El, her brother and her boyfriend being best friends, supporting each other, having fun, bickering and taking turns being the sane and responsible one. El and Mike being in love. Will and El being siblings. Mike and Will being childhood buddies. Whenever something is happening with one of them, the other two team up to help. Sure I want private one-on-one scenes between all of them, but I also like to see them working in pairs to help the third on out. plus all the "dating your best friend's sister" humour.
Lucas and Mike:I need a scene where Mike and Lucas bond over the girl they love possibly being gone forever, but not being sure, so they can’t completely move on (El between s1 and s2 vs Max coma). Plus they always had a fun dynamic, whether they are at each others throats, like S1, or Lucas is giving Mike relationship advice in S3.
El-Jonathan-Will: Both all three of them, and any two of them having one-on-one scenes. Will-Jonathan is a classic, and now that Will is getting older I’d like to see shipft in their dynamic start to form, where they become equals. This fits with the writers saying s5 will be a coming of age story for him, as well as Jonathan’s arc seems to be about finding a live outside his family. The Montauk Bible mentioned he felt burdened by his family, and while he might partially be using them as an excuse, I do believe he genuinely feels his family needs him around. So him stepping out of the role as Will's caretaker would align perfectly with both of their journeys. I also love the idea of El with brothers. Jonathan learning to be a good big brother to someone other than Will is great. On one hand, it’s natural to him, on the other hand, he doesn’t have 14 years of knowledge about her to fall back on. Will and El are friends, but they also live together and share a mother figure, so seeing how their dynamic
Dustin and El: they were so sweet in s1.
Dustin and Will: because we barely have any moments between them
Dustin and lucas: cause they were awesome together in s2, and because lucas is probably the sanest party memeber, while Dustin is the most extra
Nancy and Mike
Erica and Lucas
Also, if max wakes up:
Lumax: of course
Max and El: so sweet.
Dustin and Max: because they’d be a fun and sweet duo
mike and max: love the idea of them being snarky at each other, but learning to get along and apprieciate each other.
Max and Will: more because they have been through some similiar stuff, rather than me being interested in how their personalities fit.

"you let the two most dear to you march off to their deaths."
okay first.
Orochimaru. you technically let Nawaki die.
Tsunade wasn't even there for Nawaki's death.
and she failed at keeping Dan alive.
secondly.
she did the exact same thing in the Pein arc...
I am so sane over this don't look this over for any hint at my sanity or lack thereof.
but in the Pein arc, the Pein invasion, there were THREE deaths that occurred, that can all be traced back to Tsunade in some way
she let Jiriaya go to Ame, to he killed by Konan and Nagato (or the Pein bodies)
and then when Pein *did* infiltrate Konoha and blew it up, Kakashi and Shizune both died. Tsunade. girl. how many deaths are gonna technically be at your fault.
Kakashi and Shizune can be at blame of Katsuyu for failing to find them in time, which is what Rsunade was doing the entire Pein invasion. she was fueling Katsuyu so she could find and keep everyone in the village alive
she probably found Shizune too late, because by Tsunade's words, Katsuyu had found everyone in the village
but I'm certain Katsuyu found Kakashi dead last bc that's when she states it. and by then Kakashi was already dead, so Katsuyu was too late.
which isn't Tsunade's fault??? but Katsuyu's?? for failing to get to everyone fast enough? I mean the best bet would've been to get a bunch of the Katsuyus to the hospital bc that would've been filling up fast. plus, like with Kakashi, some people could've been stuck under debris, though Kakashi would've been easily spotted bc he was sticking *up* from the debris, but still. but still. Tsunade *knew* Katsuyu found everyone, with Kakashi being the last (and i love that scene to death. where she finds oht from Katsuyu that Kakashi's dead? and she makes that whole speech like "Lady Katsuyu has found everyone in the village." then proceeds to punch a pillar off the hokage tower cuz she let Kakashi (and Shizune) die)
but I'm just saying
everyone around Tsunade was by extreme technicalities, died because of her failure to protect them.
and so did everyone around Kakashi.
I'm just saying. they're more similar than you think in their backstory. both became heavily traumatised by the events ^-^ Tsunade so much so she earned the fear of blood, Kakashi so much so that he had nightmares well into his 20s. but they both figured their lives out. ish.
I just love them. they're such an adoptive auntie/nephew duo. Tsunade cares for Kakashi much more than she shows. I love them. a lot. and Tsunade's rage at Kakashi's death made me realise that. bc she didn't just lose a valuable and loyal asset to the village. she lost *someone*. again. someone she views as a nephew. the last living reminder of Sakumo, perhaps.
and it's such a fucking shame that some reactions to people's deaths/revivals aren't shown.
because I would've LOVED to see how Tsunade would've reacted to Kakashi and Shizune being alive
but, unfortunately, Tsunade was put in a coma after keeping the whole village alive (or who was left) during Pein's invasion. I don't she was conscious when Nagato used Rinne Rebirth and revived all those who he killed in his invasion...

i only got into wrestling last year, so whenever folks come back after a hiatus/injury im like Oh Wow, How Cool, Another New Person I Don't Know! So basically i was wondering if you'd tell me what you love about Asuka? This is an infodump opportunity, i wanna know it all 😌✌️ no presh obvs
OK SO!!!! im probably not the MOST knowledgeable about her but i will tell you the things i know :)
She was a wrestler in japan known as KANA. When she arrived in NXT, she quickly became a force to be reckoned with. She had an undefeated streak of more than 900 days. In that time frame, she won the NXT women's championship and had the longest reign of any male or female superstar in NXT, was forced to vacate the title due to a neck injury (after a 500+ day reign), and then she debuted on Raw upon her return. It is said her streak surpassed that of Goldberg's, and her reign surpassed the women's WWF record of 502 days set by Rockin' Robin. She won the inaugural women's royal rumble match, to go up against Charlotte Flair for the smackdown women's championship at Wrestlemania 34.
It's there that Charlotte, in what I consider to be one of the biggest letdowns of a Wrestlemania that I've personally watched live, DEFEATED asuka and retained her championship by submitting asuka with the figure four. Which was BANANAS and UPSETTING on so many levels, most particularly because asuka was known to submit people with her own submission finisher, the asuka lock, where she pretty much chokes you out from behind it's fucking amazing (im not sure if it's just similar or exactly like samoa joe's coquina clutch but i love them both), and then also charlotte killed asuka's 900 day undefeated streak. as if charlotte fucking needed that win (she didnt and asuka shouldve fucking won, but wrestlemania 34 literally let me down after the first two matches so it is what it is).
anyway, in nxt she was a brutal competitor. i wanna say she was a babyface at the start but slowly started become more heelish (i mean you gotta keep winning somehow, right? but not in the chickenshit, cheating way, in like a fucking violent brutal way).
anyway, i fucking love her. I love her music I love her colorful style her colorful hair, her happy but confident attitude. she's the best.
oh!!! she HAS been raw women's champion, as well a women's tag champion with kairi sane (the pirate princess). they were a really cute duo and i miss them :/
i love her whole character and her in ring work. she's so talented.

Alright let’s talk GVK spoilers!!!
My reactions as best I can remember them!
- love how Kong is humanized from the very first scene, like every time he shows up he’s humanized so much more than other titans are. If that was at the expense of other titans being made likable I wouldn’t enjoy it so much, but like, Godzilla is made pretty lovable over the course of Monsterverse, Mothra is too, and all the titans featured for long are given recognizable emotions that let us see them as more intelligent and feeling than “just” animals; so all of them are made understandable/likable/sympathetic. But of them all, Kong is the only one really humanized. Which makes sense, because like, big monkey! Basically our distant cousin!
- And they kept playing, like, normal songs for him, which cracked me up.
- I really appreciated how you could SEE the titans in this movie. After all the weather effects to hide the titans in KOTM, there was such a clear difference in this one from the very start. Kong in the daylight! Godzilla makes his first attack at night, and even then you can see him much more clearly than you can for most of KOTM! Nice!
- after the Iwi were portrayed as silent stoic witnesses in Skull Island, I really appreciated that they took an Iwi character, made her a main character, and gave her dialogue and a real role to play in the story while also keeping her deaf/mute. I think that was a good way to improve on the way that the Iwi got got sidelined in the last movie while still maintaining the worldbuilding!
- I didn’t appreciate so much that, y’know, they murdered the rest of her people off-screen in order to do it. Couldn’t they have gone “her parents died so she got adopted by a Monarch agent that was close to her family, but like, the rest of her tribe is fine”? Or at the very least “their island got fucked up so they had to be evacuated but like they’re settling in somewhere else”? “They’re living under this island dome with Kong and they know what’s up and Monarch’s keeping them in the loop and they decided they’re chill with their new dome home, but this one girl likes to go on adventures with Monarch”? Something? Did we have to kill them all off? Y’all make up an entire fictional indigenous culture and then murder them off-screen when you don’t need them? Just let them live.
- a few minutes in I was like “hold on, we’ve got two characters that speak sign language, we’ve got a giant gorilla, gorillas learn sign language, is there any reason they can’t teach Kong?” and then later I was like “OOOOOH!!” Humans and titans learning how to communicate with each other has been one of my favorite themes to explore in Monsterverse fanfic so I was absolutely tickled to see it getting explored in canon, too.
- That said I think it’s hilarious that the girl managed to teach Kong to sign without, like... anybody seeing. Kong’s hands are above the tree line and there are cameras everywhere, how did NOBODY with Monarch see him signing.
- Bernie’s weaponized being an annoying coworker to such a degree it can only be called an art, and I really appreciated it.
- Godzilla’s extra chonky in this movie and I dig it. Roomie noted he was extra crocodilian and I dig that too.
- “There’s been no confirmed titan sightings in three years” I don’t buy that for a minute. They’re BIG. Rodan NESTS IN VOLCANOES. They found a MOTHRA EGG. Humans have A SCARILY WELL-FUNDED ORGANIZATION DEDICATED SOLELY TO FOLLOWING TITANS AROUND. Like, most of the lore in GVK that I don’t personally like, I can be like “eh... I can tweak it just a little bit with headcanons to make it work for me...” but NO confirmed titan sightings? You expect me to believe ALL of them moved underground when we’d previously seen them all prefer to live above ground? You expect me to believe that now that they’re all AWAKE, they learned how to HIDE?? Uh-uh. And at the end of KOTM there was stuff in the credits about using titan droppings as biofuel, obviously they’re still walking around up top! Can’t take that from me. Nope.
- Who the FUCK is Ren Serizawa and how is he related to Ishiro Serizawa? IS he related? Maybe they just dropped the surname as another “yeah this is a Godzilla movie for Godzilla fans” easter egg but I have a hard time believing that he can’t be somehow related to the other character with the Very Important Last Name who was so important in the last two Godzilla movies. If he is related I’m sure it’s been explained in a tie-in comic or the novelization or something, I’ll look it up later.
- I had to look up how much weight huge battleships can carry while writing a KOTM fic where Ghidorah hitches a ride on one, and y’all, I had to pull weird gravity-negating magic to get him to ride on that boat. Godzilla and Kong woulda sunk that boat like a rock. All I could think during that scene is “this wouldn’t work and I know that because I DID THE RESEARCH and I wasn’t even getting PAID.” I’ll choose to believe that Monarch gets special heavy duty ships designed to carry titans but nobody mentioned it because it wasn’t relevant to Kong’s journey.
- The bit where they could see where Godzilla was swimming because he’d got half a ship hooked to him that was bobbing around on the surface, didn’t Jaws do something like that with a buoy? It’s been ages since I’ve seen Jaws. Anyway good reference.
- Insert “they’re gonna need a bigger boat” joke
- I LOVED the part where they shut down all the ships to get Godzilla to leave. Both because, one, it’s a spectacular callback to KOTM’s “turn off all the guns so he knows we’re not a threat” that makes it seem like now that’s just what Monarch knows what to do to get G to chill out, and two... we know that Godzilla backs off either when he’s killed his enemy or when his enemy has yielded to him. At the end of KOTM—and the end of GVK—the act of yielding is presented as very ceremonial and uniform across species: everyone lowers anything they’ve got that could be dangerous (claws, fangs, beaks, axes) and bows to show Godzilla they’re not gonna fight. Battleships, obviously, can’t bow, but even without being inducted into whatever secret titan cultural intricacies might be going on, humans have figured out their own way to “bow” to Godzilla: cut all the power, so their ships can’t move and can’t use weapons. I know the movie presented it as “playing dead,” but c’mon, if Godzilla could hear MechaG power up from halfway around the planet then he could hear that Kong’s heart was still beating, and he’s been around enough boats to know humans can turn them off and on when they want. The humans bowed to Godzilla. He accepted that they yielded and left.
- Mark Russell looked like such a dad in this movie, like he’s retired 100% from being a rugged action hero and now he’s just Pure Dad. I like him better when he’s a dad, it’s a good development for him. He got like 3 lines and I’m like “I appreciate this character development.”
- Despite all my qualms about how conspiracy theories and extremist groups are handled in Monsterverse (and WHICH conspiracy theories they decide to reference), I really love Madison and Bernie’s dynamic. The adult man who’s the excitable wide-eyed believer in every BS conspiracy you can possibly imagine; and then the serious, severe Teenage Girl On A Mission who’s hypercompetent because she was raised for five years by a friggin doomsday cult militia; and despite having wildly different personalities they’re just, in total agreement about everything. Handled just a BIT differently (like, leaving out the more gross IRL conspiracies) they would be a wildly fun comedic duo—especially with Josh the Only Sane Man coming along as the hapless sidekick. And they all play off of each other so well! Both in a comedic sense, and in more serious moments—when Bernie talked about his wife, there was a real moment of empathy between him and Madison with very little said. I’d watch an entire movie just about the three of them. I’d watch a TV show.
- On the one hand I wasn’t too much of a fan of KOTM’s “all titans... are inherently In Tune With Nature... nature has a Balance, because that’s a Real Thing and not an anthropocentric concept to describe how we like nature to act, and they automatically restore it... because they’re like, some kinda borderline divinities or something... we should probably be worshipping them...” thing; but, now that it was totally absent in GVK, I sorta miss it. Like I feel like there needs to be a balance, a few humans who are like “i lowkey worship these dudes?” and a few others who are like “they’re cool but like, that’s a lil extreme” and that neither side be presented as Right in how they regard titans’ relationship with nature.
- “All titans come from THE HOLLOW EARTH” nah I don’t buy that it’s silly. Basically, what I object to is the idea that all titans have some sort of intrinsic similarity (they all come from the same hitherto-unknown location; they all are part of the same pack that has the same alpha; they all are fueled/fed by the same energy source; etc) rather than letting them be SEPARATE species whose only unifying traits are “they’re all big enough to fuck everything up everywhere they go” and “they’re big enough that the typically-insurmountable barriers between different biomes (mountain ranges, valleys, long distances with terrible weather) aren’t insurmountable for them, so even if they’re specialized in different environments they still all have to deal with each other pretty often.” I’ll make some exceptions for convergent evolution (i.e., claiming multiple titans developed similar traits that are relatively easy to spontaneously evolve and a prerequisite for a creature to survive at such a large size). But I can’t buy “this big gorilla has more biologically in common with this big crocodile-iguana than he does with, say, gorillas,” or most of the other “all these titans have THIS IN COMMON” claims that Monsterverse makes, including “everyone’s from hollow earth.” So I’m tossing that out the window and substituting my own headcanons. Some might’ve evolved there but some evolved on the surface. Maybe a majority of them like ducking in and out of the hollow earth like some kind of titan shortcut system. Kong’s species, I can buy, IS native to hollow earth, considering that they built a whole-ass society down there with tools and architecture.
- I’m SO curious about the little underground Kong home, the Godzilla motif in the floor, and the axe that appeared to be made with a Godzilla scute. What’s the story there??? We know Godzilla’s species and Kong’s species are ancient rivals. Is it because Kong’s species hunted Godzilla’s to steal their scutes to make weapons, seeing them as a valuable resource the way, like, early humans considered woolly mammoths a valuable resource—thus making that Godzilla on the floor equivalent to cave art of mammoths made by people who hunted them—until the Godzillas got pissed and started fighting back en masse? Or were Godzillas and Kongs already enemies when Kongs decided to start making weapons out of their corpses? Did they use to be allies, fighting together, with Godzillas voluntarily offering shed scutes and/or bones of their deceased members to Kongs, and that place used to be a shared home until they started fighting?
- What about that power source, is it something that was already there that both Kongs and Godzillas started to deliberately harvest for technology/atomic breath? Or did Godzillas automatically channel that stuff and Kongs exploited/borrowed/traded with Godzillas to utilize it too? Or is the power from Godzillas who collaboratively poured a bunch of power into the place thus that Kongs were able to use it too? I doubt Godzilla’s species CREATED all that weird energy but the question remains of whether, like, they channel it FROM underground, or naturally produce the same thing in their own bodies, or what.
- Godzilla using his atomic breath to dig a hole STRAIGHT TO KONG just to KICK HIS ASS is hilarious. How lucky that Hong Kong just HAPPENS to be straight over Kong’s house! Were all the tunnels to the hollow earth made by pissed off Godzillas who wanted to kick monkey ass??
- I loved the aesthetic of the battle scene in Hong Kong, with the brightly colored neon building outlines, VERY cool look. The choreography of the battle scene was great too, especially
- we literally broke into applause when Kong shoved the axe handle in Godzilla’s mouth. Love it, perfect callback, that was the ONE thing from the original King Kong Vs Godzilla I was hoping to see referenced and there it was.
- You could really see a difference in how Kong and Godzilla fought—Kong doing a better job at using tools and the environment, Godzilla fighting more like a reptile. They seemed to emphasize Godzilla’s more animalistic behaviors in this movie to accomplish that contrast—he was down on all fours and moving like a crocodile more often, he was clawing at Kong’s chest—but even though it seemed a bit different of a combat technique it also didn’t seem out of place compared to how he fought in prior movies. And we’ve already seen that if Godzilla’s involved in a fight and one of the combatants knows how to use the environment, it’s typically not gonna be Godzilla. (See: Ghidorah using the reflection in a building’s windows to see what’s behind him, and recognizing a nearby power source and biting it to juice himself up.)
- So many of Godzilla’s enemies seem to have specialized in negating his atomic breath in order to combat him! The MUTOs directly suppress his ability to use it—and it makes sense that that’s an inborn ability they have, since they evolved to use Godzilla’s species as prey. Kong has a weapon that both acts as a shield to absorb the breath and turn it back against Godzilla’s species—they didn’t evolve to counter Godzilla, but they developed tools once a rivalry happened. Ghidorah’s the exception—which makes sense, since he came from space—but even at that we see him using tactics specifically to take into account Godzilla’s most powerful weapon (such as keeping one head on lookout for when he starts glowing so that they know when they need to dodge).
- LOVED the reveal that MechaG was based off of Ghidorah’s brain, it has vibes of both the Kiryu Saga and the way that Heisei MechaG is based off of Mecha-King Ghidorah. Not the most surprising plot twist, since we’d theorized that they might use San to make MechaG, but I wasn’t 100% sure they were gonna go with it until they finally did. Even when I was going “huh, the mecha pilot’s chamber looks weirdly organic” I didn’t make the connection to WHY until the reveal, lol.
- “Ghidorah’s necks are so long that the heads have to communicate with each other telepathically” that’s COMPLETELY WILD but I love it, it follows very well from their prior portrayal as telepathic empaths in Heisei, it lines up with their emphasis on electricity (because BRAINWAVES AND ELECTRICITY, hey ho movie monster pseudo science!), and it very much compliments my own private headcanon that they’ve got some psychic/mind control abilities.
- The movie ended with both “Godzilla won, technically” but also “since they teamed up as equals, the ending doesn’t FEEL like ‘Godzilla wins, Kong loses’ but rather ‘they both won against a common foe’” and since I’m on both Team Godzilla and Team They Should Be Friends, I’m happy with this outcome. Plus since the last time they fought, the Japanese movie company graciously let the American monster win, so it’s only polite that the American movie company graciously let the Japanese monster win.
- There were just a few too many humans in this movie. I was intrigued by Ren but we didn’t get much out of him, but like I guess somebody had to be in the pilot’s seat other than the Apex CEO. Didn’t care for the author of the hollow earth book, I feel like his role was superfluous. Didn’t need the Apex CEO’s daughter there at all, coulda done without her. How about this, combine all three roles. Instead of having a whole-ass author who knows about the hollow earth, just casually reference that Rick from KOTM wrote a book about it since he was the expert, and (since he wasn’t in this movie) say that he tragically died going to explore the hollow earth himself, and that way we’ve got the book with the “titans are from there” theory AND an excuse to share the “humans die when they go underground” info. Now, have Ren be working for Apex as a pilot for Mechagodzilla, but have him be MechaG’s pilot because he’s also a good pilot in general, and can fly those HEAV things. Have Apex send him to Monarch to be like “hey, you guys trust me right, since I’m Ishiro Serizawa’s relative? We at Apex have heard all about your failed hollow earth expedition, and due to Ishiro I’ve got some past ties to Monarch so I’ve got high clearance with y’all, so I could bring over this useful Apex tech that’d let you go underground and use what I know about hollow earth from my past time at Monarch to help guide things.” Once they’ve got the little chunk of energy stuff and go topside, he hustles it straight to Apex and straps into his seat to run MechaG. Bam, you’ve combined “person who knows enough about hollow earth to help the expedition,” “person who represents Apex’s interests and gets the energy,” and “person who pilots MechaG” into one character, in a way that takes three flat/underdeveloped characters and turns them into a single interesting character with a lot going on and some intriguing ties to the rest of the cast.
I think that’s everything?? Hoo.
