Slight Godzilla x Kong Spoilers:
My favourite part of Godzilla x Kong is the way it has stupid explanations for plot devices that still satisfy my need for an explanation.
Like, Kong gets his arm super-frostbitten, and oh no, that's "worse than bad, that's frostbite," so let's put a big Thanos glove on 'im.
So then I'm going "Oh no, you can't just put a big glove over frostbite and expect him to still hit things! A casing around an injured body part does nothing to prevent pain from further impact!"
But as if in anticipation of that, they have a super-quick blink-and-you'll-miss-it line that goes something to the effect of "these injections through the glove should cure that frostbite!" Just cure it.
Magic juice make nerve and tissue damage go bye-bye so monke can punch again, and I for one love it

How I Would Change Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (if i was smart enough to direct and write movies)
DISCLAIMER: I loved GxK, and I believe it is an entertaining movie! This is just my take on how I would've liked to see things happen, with it connecting to the previous installments more, as well as tweaking some minor details here and there.
SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT! DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE
So, the biggest change I am adding is that Madison Russell from Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Godzilla vs. Kong. I was honestly surprised when I heard that Millie Bobby Brown wasn't involved in the project at all, and I feel like Maddie's presence could have really helped flesh out some of the human aspects of the movie.
The only other thing I am really changing from the movie is adding cameos that link the movies together better, as well as making some minor attempts at making the science less... fantastical. I am not deleting any scenes from the movie, just altering them and adding a few more. Hopefully, this keeps a good balance between the human aspect versus the Titan aspect. So, the movie would probably turn out to be approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes in length, compared to the 1 hour 55 minute run time. I am only going to have bullet points for the parts I am altering/adding, so anything I leave out from the movie is otherwise unchanged or doesn't have enough of a difference to warrant a bullet point.
During the scene where we see updates of MONARCH over the past few years, we don't just see Dr. Ilene Andrews in interviews, but also cameos from Dr. Ilene Chen and Dr. Ling Chen, and possibly some other cameos like Sam Coleman or Mark Russell. Less emphasis on being thankful for Godzilla's help (because yeah he's helping, but also thousands of people are dying directly from him), but more emphasis is placed on MONARCH helping with relief efforts, and the usage of the Titan Warning System we saw in MONARCH: Legacy of Monsters. Also, instead of the other MONARCH person we see in charge (who I think is Hampton, Rachel House's character?) we see Deputy Director Verdugo.
Another small change is that MONARCH isn't trying to "stay ahead of DC" here. I understand why they did that, but from my understanding of the previous iterations in the Monsterverse series, MONARCH was supposed to be considered trustworthy and the top Titan research group after King of the Monsters, especially after the fall of APEX. So, instead, MONARCH is just trying to find what answers they can give to the United Nations as soon as possible.
When Godzilla kills Scylla, we get an explanation of how Scylla was causing problems to the natural world, as well as directly challenging Godzilla for Alpha status, which was explored in Godzilla x Kong: The Hunted.
At the MONARCH school (which I really hope is a school for children of MONARCH employees, or at least a school funded by MONARCH, and not an indoctrination school), we see that Jia is a student at the school, and Maddie is there as well (I don't know what year this movie takes place in, but it takes place sometime after GvK in 2024. Timeline-wise, Maddie was 17 in 2024, and probably a junior/senior in high school, so depending on how long it's been since GvK, she could be a teaching assistant of some kind, or a senior in high school) and friends of each other. They both have visions as the Hollow Earth signal is received; Jia has flashbacks of her past on Skull Island and of her time in Hollow Earth, and Maddie has flashbacks of her encounter with Mothra, Godzilla, as well as when she faced Ghidorah and MechaGodzilla. Both of them also have the same quick flashing vision of the future events of the movie.
When Ilene comes to check on Jia after the incident of her drawing on the desk, Maddie is there, and there's a new scene where all three of them talk about what is going on. Maddie says that MONARCH is too rigid in their thinking, and mentions that there's someone who could help them.
In Miami, Maddie and Ilene meet up with Bernie, and Maddie is integral in helping Ilene convince Bernie to help.
During Trapper's introduction scene where he gives Kong his new tooth, we also have Nathan Lind and Mark Russell show up to witness the event. They are both there to say goodbye to the Hollow Earth transport team, and Maddie joins Trapper, Ilene, Jia, Bernie, and a MONARCH military member (instead of the asshole Mikael, it would be one of the G-Team members from Godzilla KOTM to add more emphasis on their death; either Jackson Barnes or Anthony Martinez would probably be the most recognizable ones)
Instead of Godzilla going to France's nuclear power plant and destroying the place to absorb the radiation, and therefore attacking the humans who attacked him (which kind of went against the whole "the Titans are the guardians of nature" thing and the previous characterizations of Godzilla in the Monsterverse), he goes to some abandoned nuclear site. I would say Chernobyl, but I doubt they'd put that in the movie due to Russia's Invasion right now. But just some abandoned nuclear plant somewhere would work.
Inside Hollow Earth, there are issues with the HEAV due to the signal disrupting the systems, but they are quickly able to figure out the best way to traverse the land; when Jia and Maddie sense the pulse, the HEAV lands until it is over, and then repeat. On their first landing, the G-Team member dies. After they find the Mothra temple, it is Maddie who approaches the glowing dragonfly and presses the button on the wall, allowing them to find the Iwi civilization.
In the scene where we first see Shimo, there is more emphasis and origin on the crystal that Skar King uses to control her; perhaps the crystal is a part of Shimo's ice crystals that we see on her back, and has strange properties due to the Hollow Earth's radiation? We also give Shimo more of a personality. When she first appears, Shimo would be curious about Kong, but flinch at sharp movements from anyone. And then when she is forced to attack, it'd be obvious that she doesn't want to, but Skar King forces her to with the crystal.
I want Shimo to have more characterization in the movie. I've seen people complain that she was just... kinda there. Like, her whole purpose was to keep Skar King from getting bullied too badly. So, by really showing that Shimo is being forced into this and that her natural state is curiosity and warmth (as opposed to her icy nature ;D ), it provides more depth to her character, making the viewers want to see her freed.
When Godzilla arrives at Tiamat's lair, they fight again, but instead of killing Tiamat, Godzilla is able to force Tiamat out like he did in Godzilla: Dominion. Again, too much unnecessary (although insanely badass) murder for a "guardian of nature". He goes into the hibernation to evolve himself.
In the Iwi civilization, we get a more scientific look at the Iwi culture. I don't understand the gravity thing the movie tried to go for, so instead I want to focus on the cultural aspect; they are similar in most aspects to what was seen in Kong: Skull Island, but there are clear differences in dress, the markings they wear, and their ceremonies. This would also be where we go into more detail about how essential Mothra is to this group of Iwi people, instead of her being shoehorned in when all we've seen previously was the Iwi and Kong's species. We see Jia figuring this out and clearly being happy at this. I would also go into them using crystals more, like how we saw with the guard's spears, instead of the gravity-based science. These crystals would be seen to have a mystic quality, explained by Mothra's radiation, perhaps.
When Kong arrives at the Iwi civilization with Suko, that's when Trapper leaves to go back to the Outpost to retrieve the gauntlet for Kong, THEN we go into seeing the lore behind Skar King and Shimo at the temple. This provides a better sense of time between Kong's arrival and his getting the gauntlet since it honestly felt way too fast.
Inside the crystal temple itself, we see the history of the war between Skar King and his ape versus Godzilla and Mothra. I'd love to have Shimo seen more as a threat, with them explicitly saying and having a longer conversation that Shimo was the one who started the last Ice Age, and that before she was captured by Skar King, she had frozen Ghidorah in Antarctica. There is perhaps slightly more exposition here, with the prophecy including not only the "Iwi from Skull Island", but "a girl touched by Mothra".
In this scene, I want to explore Maddie's connection to Mothra. In the Godzilla: King of the Monsters Official Novelization, it is implied that there is some connection between Mothra and Maddie after the scene in the Temple of the Moth. It is hinted at when Maddie has a vision of Mothra while she is unconscious during the Boston battle. I would love to explore that more, and there'd be a deeper explanation in the Official Novelization, something with Mothra bonding with Maddie since there weren't any twin priestesses like there usually is, perhaps.
This is when Trapper returns and gives Kong the gauntlet, and when Jia sends the latter up to bring Godzilla down to help.
Maddie and Jia both go up the crystal temple to the top, where they find that Mothra has a cocoon up there; Maddie realizes that this is what Mothra must have been doing before she arrived in Boston to help Godzilla (I remember reading somewhere that the director said that Mothra was likely off laying an egg during her absence between showing MONARCH where to find Godzilla and her arrival in Boston. This would work really well in my opinion, and a lot better than her materializing out of magic crystal dust.
When Kong arrives on the surface to summon Godzilla, they still fight a bit. However, it becomes clear early on that Godzilla really isn't into the fight; he has obviously been sensing the signal the whole time, so he knows that something is happening with Skar King and Shimo. With previous movies (and especially MONARCH: Legacy of Monsters) trying to convey Godzilla's intelligence, it isn't a far stretch to suggest that Godzilla would figure out that Kong is trying to get his help. Still, the fight goes on for long enough that Mothra arrives to keep them from beating each other up too much. We see Jia and Maddie reach out to Kong and Godzilla respectively.
When Skar King arrives at the Iwi civilization, the Iwi tribe uses their knowledge of the region's radioactive properties (again, nothing gravity-based science-wise because that was all confusing and likely very bad science) to try and send energy through the crystals, messing with the portals from Hollow Earth.
There is no more anti-gravity fight scene. Although I enjoyed it a lot (seeing Godzilla swim through the air and the apes use the rocks to climb around were honestly so cool), it doesn't fit with the "improved" science I am attempting to do. Another ground fight, but they go around the tunnel so they're all still fighting on different planes.
Due to the close proximity to the surface, Ilene is able to warn MONARCH, and they work with the United Nations to evacuate Rio de Janeiro, since there is a tunnel appearing there. This brings us back to the beginning, where I wanted to do away with the "be grateful for Godzilla even though he destroys thousands of people's lives every time he's on the news" thing at the start.
When Skar King and Shimo arrive in Rio de Janeiro, since Kong, Godzilla, and Mothra are unable to stop them due to the immense amount of apes in Skar King's army, there is a lot of destruction. We see Skar King force Shimo into starting another Ice Age, though again, we see that she really doesn't want to do what he says. She starts freezing the city, and the MONARCH evacuation teams there panic as they get closer to their position, before Godzilla, Kong, Jia, Maddie, Trapper, and Bernie (the humans are in the HEAV, with a brief exposition that Mothra was staying back to stop all of Skar King's apes from destroying the Iwi civilization).
This fight is pretty much the same, but the civilians are barely present, and we only see them evacuating a few people away in the HEAV. The final battle still focuses mainly on the Titans, with a heavy amount of emphasis on the crystal from Skar King's whip. I'd keep the absolute bullying that Skar King got the same, but the explanation for this is that Skar King is much older now, and his opponents over-leveled themselves expecting him in his prime.
Mothra arrives from the tunnel, and this is what distracts Skar King long enough for Suko to use Kong's axe to break the crystal that controls Shimo. Once this happens, we see that Shimo can feel it, and she immediately stops attacking Godzilla and looks around in curiosity and amazement. She flinches when Skar King is trying to order her around while he is being bullied by Kong, but with a trill from Mothra and a growl from Godzilla, she joins in bullying her tormentor.
After the fight, there is more of a delay before the ending; we see Bernie on the news talking about his podcast, achieving his movie-long wish to be believed; we see Maddie saying goodbye to Mothra as she leaves and Maddie reunites with her dad and also Josh from GvK; Jia stays with Ilene, but she has a newfound connection to the Iwi sister tribe in the Hollow Earth; Mothra flies across the ocean while Godzilla swims below her to emphasize the symbiotic relationship, and they both take a nap in the coliseum (Godzilla is considerably more careful as he steps through the city this time); Kong returns to the Hollow Earth with Suko and Shimo, and he leads the apes out of their imprisoned area and to the main area of Hollow Earth, where his kingdom is.
For an end credits scene, it'd be Ilene and Jia in the Iwi civilization, where they get permission from the priest lady to see a special part of the temple, where it reveals prophecy-art of Kong, Mothra, and Godzilla fighting against their next enemy.
Obviously, without anything known about future projects, we don't have any end credits scene for this movie. If there is another movie (I thought I saw somewhere that Adam Wingard wanted to direct a trilogy of Monsterverse movies, which means another GxK installment could be in the future, perhaps?), I don't think they'd do what many people want and bring back a Toho villain. Based on the trend of what they've done in the series so far, the next installment would include an original villain with some connection to both of them. So I'll list out some options of what I'd like to see, of both Toho villains and original villains:
Toho: Hedorah, Biollante, Destoroyah, and my personal choice; Battra.
Original: Methuselah, Leviathan, another threat from space (not SpaceGodzilla, since that'd be difficult to work out in this series I think, but maybe something along the lines of Ghidorah's family, since I think they were briefly mentioned in the King of the Monsters Official Novelization), or another threat that goes against Hollow Earth and the surface. Maybe a giant worm-like creature or burrowing Titan could be a good idea, since it'd be able to go back and forth between the two worlds. It'd provide a nice background for how the portals are made.
So, there it is! I hope you guys enjoyed it and like my ideas for how Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire could have been improved. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

No spoilers but I actually.really liked GxK.
Like GvK, it feels like a Kong movie with some Godzilla, but at least time the 'some Godzilla' parts actually matter and mean something. Monarch isnt totally absent, and Godzillas motivation is made clear and consequential. Much more satisfying story than the last one.
The human cast is small and basic, but it lands in that Sekizawa zone of characters who are distinct, likable and fulfill a role on the story. They're not complex bit they're fun and have purpose.
The monster story is stellar. Skar King is a great villain, and Monsterverse Kong continues to be my favorite version of the character.
It helped that the last film tempered my expectations, but this film is much more my speed when it comes to 'silly fun Godzilla.

Child Of The Monsters
A monsterverse fic:
You can't remember when it all began. When something changed. Or maybe you could, if you thought deep enough on it. All you knew now though, was that you were alone. Because of them. Because of Him. If only you weren't so young when this all began, perhaps you could have prevented everything; the death of your parents, being one. Being forced to give up your childhood "for the sake of humanity" being another. But alas, nothing could change what has happened, and all you could do now was try and escape this hell that's been built around you, and pray to whatever deity is out there to grace you with luck. Because if they find out, if He finds out.....
The sake of the world, the sake of your life, the sake of every little good thing you've managed to keep, will be at stake.
•••
Hello, hello. I've decided to post my story here on Tumblr just...because lol. You can find it both on ao3 https://archiveofourown.org/works/55869871
Or wattpad https://www.wattpad.com/story/366621677?utm_source=android&utm_medium=link&utm_content=share_reading&wp_page=reading&wp_uname=KnockoutRules
Updates will most likely be posted on these two first, and I'll post when I remember to on here. However, to be up to date I'd suggest reading on either of those platforms.
Like on both of those, here is important information that I insist you glance over before reading:
This story is definitely inspired by Screaming into the Voids "Y/n, Child of the Monsters///Platonic!Yandere!Godzilla/Titans x Child/Teen!Reader" on Quotev, I suggest going and checking it out, however it is incomplete and I'm unsure if the writer is still interested in finishing it. With that out of the way, this will be a "yandere" type story, and will have normal Godzilla movie themes in it such as
- death
- canon-typical violence(cmon, it's godzilla, he's going to end up ripping something in half)
- spoilers for the movies(except gxk, I haven't seen it yet)
and themes I've added in. There will be
- "talking" kaiju, however they don't physically speak to humans, rather its an insight into their thoughts/feelings
- mentions/forms of telepathy
I personally headcanon that mothra can "tap" into others, and while she can't speak fluent, she can send emotions or brief thoughts to others that aren't close to her. Godzilla can do similar things, but it takes more focus for him, and it works better through touch. But it doesn't happen very often.
- some forms of experimentation, both on humans and kaiju
I want to make it clear that there is no romance in this, it's purely platonic.
I've tried to align readers age with how the movies are set in time, so here's a quick guide if any of you get confused:
Reader is born in 2009, they are 5 during the events of 2014.
By the events of Kotm, reader is 10.
Gvk, reader is 12, and this is mostly where the story will take place, and continue onwards.
In GxK, reader is 15.
I also won't be adding in much from the comics because I haven't read them, but there's a chance I'll add in some small things that I've managed to find out.
As for plot family wise, as stated your parents don't appear for too long. They ded. But you will have other family members! For my own sake to make it easier for me I'm gonna make reader related to the Russels; Mark being your uncle and Madison being your cousin, simply because of plot wise it makes it easier for me to use them.
If there are any questions, feel free to comment them, I'll do my best to answer them to best of my ability.
ALSO
Fair warning now, even though I like writing, I lose motivation VERY fast. So if I fall of the face of the earth for a bit, don't be surprised. I have stuff to do in my life too, seeing as I'll be graduating next year and need to get my stuff together. If you're worried that I'll be discontinuing this story, just ask in the comments, I promise I'll answer, later or right away. I'm the kind of writer that will have random spouts of motivation in the middle of the night when I'm tired, or in the middle of the day when I'm busy.
But, I will try my best to commit to this, because I really want to write this to give both myself and everyone who finds this a story with the Big G, because there are so few out there.

Everytime I rewatch the Toho godzilla movies I can't help but think back on your fics. And I'm kinda curious how do you think maddie would handle/go about goji's fight with the mecha (not to mention his squabbles with kong) according to your wild child au. I feel like that's place for more angst
I AM OFFICIALLY BEGGING AND PLEADING GXK TO DRAG ME BACK INTO THE FANDOM because this ask made me open the wild child AU GvK sequel outline for the first time in two and a half years and oh my gosh, I have to write it. It's so good, not to toot my own horn.
I can't answer your question, friend, because if I do manage to crank this thing out, the SPOILERS. AH.
WAY more angst, tho

I just stumbled onto your blog, I love it!
I'm also writing my own au(ish) type thing involving Godzilla
Can you infodump about yours? :D
OF COURSE! It’s gonna get long so be prepared hah! (Most of this is actually spoilers for my own books so yeehaw)
Okay so, I’ve restarted my AU multiple times but after watching the ending credits of Godzilla: KOTM and piecing the story together that was hidden beneath the white markings— I decided to change up my AU and that is the version that I’ve kept up with.
So basically, there’s gods & goddesses thrown into it all. There’s a creation goddess named Gatix and she’s been around since earth was created, and a few elders were there as well (Methuselah, Scylla, Behemoth, and Shimo for example.)
When other kaiju species began arriving Gatix decided to split her powers between two members of the divine moth species, Akari and Daku (two fanmade moths). These two are the goddess and god of Life and Death.
Soon after these two are created, a war sparks between the MUTOS and the rest of Kaiju civilization, practically making life almost impossible on one side of the world.
On the divine moth side of things, there are two new sub-species types that are named after their respective gods. Akari moths control life and healing and Daku-moths control death and pain. Upon this, most Daku-moths are killed during their first winter.
However, as the war is in its highest point— Akari and Daku ask Gatix if they may split their powers further. Of course, they don’t know who to give their abilities too but you know— Gatix always has an idea. She decides that their granddaughter, Mothra, should take on one of their powers. Though, at the time of her birth she was born as a Daku-moth but she does not have the full power to become a goddess.
The reasoning for this is because Mothra’s faction (that’s what the moth groups are called) has become so detached from reality that they actually told her mother (Setsuko, another fanmade titan) that Mothra had died when in reality they were about to use her daughter for their own greed.
Around this same point in time, our favorite Gojiran is learning how he fits into this world with his mom, Evelyn, and his cousin, Zilla. He had lost his father, Dai, to the war and so he has to watch his mom fight all the battles by herself.
But of course, when he hits the age is 120 years old, his mother is slaughtered in front of him- which forces Zilla and him to leave the only homeland they’ve ever known.
Rodan’s also in here too! His childhood is pretty chill and I haven’t fleshed out his story entirely so that’ll be saved for later! Though I will say, he is bisexual and he does have a partner named Yoko (I decided to make a fanmade character because I couldn’t figure out which actual character to put him with.)
That’s all I say lore wise because I’d rather let you and everyone else reading this figure it out for themselves when I get back to posting Godzilla stuff lmao. And hey, if you still around long enough, you’ll see the MVT chapters get posted (maybe after a month or so because I don’t want people to get spoiled for GvK).
Thank you so much for the ask! I’ve never got to infodump before!! :))

Just managed to see GxK, I'd give it a 9/10, much better than GvK to me! (Spoilers below)
I can think of several users on here who could be 'Ghidorah-Stan-64', but it's even funnier if you imagine that it's Alan Jonah.
...
I get that tensions were rising with the Hollow Earth S.O.S., but did you really have to kill poor Tiamat, Goji?
...
I feel like Mothra was severely underused here, she at the very least could have been holding off the Skar King's army while Goji and Kong were fighting Shimo and Skar on the surface.
...
I guess Goji is Italian now, good for him.
...
Kong really said "You're my friend now. We're having soft tacos later!" to Shimo, and honestly, respect.

I didn't hate Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire, honestly it was awesome!
I just got done watching it so I'm still digesting it, but here are my initial thoughts. Any potential spoilers will go under a break.
I went into GxK that it would be similar to GvK and the other Monsterverse films: big monkey hit big lizard, big lizard breathe laser, big monkey block laser with big axe, and so on. And don't get me wrong, it definitely was all that, all pro wrestling but with big monsters, but in a cooler way than what I thought. I'm still trying to figure out what all made GxK more than what I was expecting, but I think this is the main bit.
In today's media, there seems to basically be two options. Either you make a show on streaming, which means your seasons are too short so you have to sacrifice character to plot. Or you make a two to three hour long movie, which uses a big budget to explain either characters or concept, hopefully with something of a plot to tie it together.
But GxK is a secret third thing. Worldbuilding. Adding to lore. Letting the landscapes they paint and the creatures that inhabit them speak for themselves. There were long stretches of screentime where the titans weren't necessarily fighting, they were just doing their thing, exploring their worlds.
Now obviously we need some humans to A, be able to connect to the story some, and B, know what is actually going on. Because while I would love a completely dialogue kaiju movie, the concepts and gimmicks of the Monsterverse just get too convoluted to figure out without Exposition Lady.
I can confirm that Legendary realized that the less human characters they have the better. The cast was relatively small, and while character development was minimal, they did make me feel some feelings toward some of the humans. But they made the right call not giving them too much of the story. What is this, Godzilla Minus One?
It's not, and if you can go into it knowing that it isn't even close to being the same movie as Minus One, and just watch it as a fun Monsterverse entry, I think you'll love it. The music is great too, better than GvK, imo. VFX were awesome too.
Okay, now for some spoilers, just random extra thoughts:
Godzilla really did the OMG MOTHRA!!! thing from that one meme! And I did too tbh, our Queen is back and beautiful as ever!
I love how it wasn't an instant father/son connection between Kong and Mini-Kong (I don't remember his name). Kong tried to help him out a couple times, but then gave up after MINI KONG TRIED TO KILL HIM LIKE MULTIPLE TIMES! Like come on, this little guy is just chaotic. But like they actually had growth in their trust and relationship, it wasn't just like "me big, you little, I dad now".
Scar King was actually a lot cooler than I was expecting. Shimo/Shimu whatever her name is did not have as big a role as I was expecting, but I'm glad she's okay.
Shout out to Mothra for stopping her boyfriend from killing Kong, helping them in Hollow Earth, and then just chilling when they all went to Rio. She said, "you guys got this, right?"
When I saw there was another hollow earth inside Hollow Earth, I'll admit I had a bit of an eye roll. But they explained it away pretty well.
SCOTTISH GUY THAT SAID SHIT IN STAR WARS. Alex Ferns is literally the same character he was in Andor.
I love how they imply that they basically imply that the Iwi had something to do with building the pyramids in Egypt by having the portal thing open RIGHT NEXT TO THEM. Made a cool setting for the fight, too.
At this point, I have no idea how big the Coliseum actually is.
Last thing, for now. For having top billing, Godzilla wasn't in it as much as I thought he might be. I think Legendary is realizing that if you have a character like Godzilla who can just level up his powers instantly to take on anything, and just kinda does his own thing, you've gotta limit that screen time. Since Kong is kinda humanoid, it's easier to empathize with him and thus add character development. Godzilla can only convey so much emotion that most humans can relate to (obviously Shin and Minus convey a lot of emotions, but anyway). Godzilla is in the movie, but Kong is more of the star. Honestly the world of the Hollow Earth and the Iwi people and their history are almost as much of the focus.

Spoilers for Godzilla vs Kong Novelization
I started reading the GvK novel, and there are some parts I wanted to share for anyone not interested in reading it, but might enjoy the extra content of everyone's favorite big angry animals. I'm not doing this in any particular order, and right now, I really want to share this one cute scene I just read.
Quote from novel under cut.
"Watching her fingers, listening to her voice, amplified over the loudspeaker.
You: Kong, she signed. Me: Ilene. She: Jia.
His eyes shifted with the words.
Yes, she signed. Good. Can you talk with hands? Say "Kong"?
That was easy. All he really had to do was point to himself. Bonus if he made the sign Jia had made up for "Kong."
At first, he didn't do anything, so she went back through the whole rigmarole.
Then to her shock and delight, Kong lifted his hand. His lips parted, not threatening, not showing teeth. A convivial gesture, a greeting even.
Come on! she thought.
Kong then scratched his nose, let out an extended, windy yawn, and turned away.
She closed her eyes and sighed. When she opened them, Jia was there between them.
Ha,ha, she signed.
It's not funny, she said. Jia, this could be important. If we could communicate with him, really talk to him-that could be huge.
Jia shrugged. He doesn't talk, she said.
'Tell me about it.'" - Pg 127

*•_MINOR SPOILERS_•*
As far as I am eager to see GxK in April, there's a rumor of the film that Jia's Iwi Tribe, has survived deep in the Hollow Earth (how is this possible?):
And to confirm about Mothra's role and appearance in the film, yes, moreover the Queen of the Monsters is on the underground Iwi Temple guarded by webbing (dude since when did she hatches out after the events in KOTM and then goes about on mid-GvK, how did she managed to get on the Iwis?), as you may have noticed here:
Whereas the Iwis foresaw Skar King's return and the war, therefore they used Jia to summon Mothra for help, looks like Jia has bonded over the Divine Moth before she explains everything about this situation; and may possibly for Mothra, she will put aside the differences of Godzilla's and Kong's rivalry to settle down and stop this madness:
I cannot possibly imagine if this is what it happens in GxK, then Adam Wingard totally cooks the film. Lastly, I couldn't read the words just below the keychain Mothra, is it "Reborn", or a new ability?
Anyway, you are free to reblog and comment down! (NO FLAMES PLEASE)
P.S. This spoiler is just only minor so, if there are changes on the film, then be done with it.
#godzilla#godzilla x kong: the new empire#gxk#gxk spoilers#spoilers#mothra#jia#queen of the monsters#I thought I heard the fact that Mothra has her classic scale shedding powder like in Heisei they used in GxK#AND PLEASE DON'T YOU DARE SACRIFICE YOURSELF AGAIN LIKE WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU IN KOTM#I SWEAR I WILL KILL EVERYONE IN THE WORLD AND THEN MYSELF#HOW IN THE WORLD DID MOTHRA FINDS OUT THE REMAINING IWI TRIBE OF JIA???#and hey since godzilla is pink and mothra is likely to have peachy orange tone color#it must be their symbiosis that slighty changes their appearance and newer abilities

Pink Lizard X Monke Prime: The New Empire
It occurred to my that I should probably talk about why I really loved Godzilla x Kong.
Slight spoilers ahead (I think)
On paper, this stupid idea of turning Godzilla pink and giving Kong an Infinity Gauntlet should not work. It's the basic premise of a superhero action schlop except it's big monsters. I came in with worries that the visuals wouldn't hold up and the story would be basic human-led garbage like the rest of the entries.
Incredibly, I had my expectations completely flipped.
Not only does everything look awesome (with the exception of a couple scenes in brightly lit, daytime environments where it's super hard to pull off big CGI scenes), but the writing was really, really good!
The humans exist as comedy bits and exposition machines of course, but the narrative weight of the film is placed on Kong's shoulders as he journeys through the Hollow Earth in search of his possibly extinct species. Every scene he's in, the story is told through his eyes, his body language, and his interactions with others.
(It reminded me a lot of Genndy Tartakovsky's Primal and fuck do I love that show)
His journey with Suko (Diddy Kong) through the film is very heartfelt and is also reflected in Suko's own character development.
Meanwhile, Godzilla is trying to keep the peace on the surface world, bringing down kaiju that are wreaking havoc everywhere until plot relevant stuff happens and he's forced to get ready for Act III.
And Act III? Oh man, the final battle is SO MUCH FUN.
While I do miss the darker, grittier tones of Godzilla 2014 and KOTM, where the kaiju had immense weight and this way of feeling like forces of nature, I also love the direction that the Monsterverse is moving.
If possible, I'd love to see that darker, heavier weight of 2014 and KOTM matched with the narrative writing of Godzilla X Kong. It'd be great to have a more serious film that follows Godzilla or Kong, but I'm not opposed to continuing this Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters-type tone.
On a side note, I actually loved the soundtrack to this film. I wasn't a huge fan of Tom Hokenborg and Antonio Di Iorio's music in GvK, but now I adore the motifs used to represent Godzilla and Kong. I still stand that everything Bear McReary touches turns to gold, but he's a busy man and it cost Warner Bros a helluva lot of money to buy the rights to use Akira Ikufube's theme for KOTM. (While I love Godzilla Minus One, I really hate that Toho is super protective of their IPs and even more greedy with licensing them out.)
Bottom line: If they keep making content of this quality then I'm going to keep giving them my money.
NOW GIVE ME SPACEGODZILLA

SPOILERS FOR GODZILLAXKONG
So now with the movie out we have a lot more context...
For the "ancient rivalry" alluded to in GvK and now that we DO know more about it I actually find it hilarious because with that knowledge GvK
Was basically
Kong's species: -tries to conquer the surface world and goes into war with Godzilla's species-
Godzilla: -traps them underground-
Kong: -exists on the surface-
Godzilla: nah, it's ok this guy can live. he's cool.
Personally I see this as a retcon to the mythos rather than a "reveal" but I STILL find it hilarious that basically Goji saw a Titanus Kong running around on Earth in GvK and being like "nah I just want him to submit to me, there's no way he's as bad as the last monke I trapped in the depths of hollow earth"
Also here's my rating for the movie
#eviramblings#kong is my son#so i think this is absolutely hilarious#goji be like#this youngster isnt gonna cause trouble im sure itll be fine i'll let him live

Just got back from Godzilla X Kong. Spoiler free review: See it.
The plot is a lot tighter than GvK, with the moving pieces more cohesive. The human cast played off each other really well (maybe my favorite in the Monsterverse). The kaiju action was everything I could have wanted. The characterization and cast of kaiju is perfect. Loved the villains in particular. It's a much better flick than its predecessorover all.
My only minor grumble comes from the conclusion of the human drama. It wrapped up ok, but I feel like there was an obvious and better ending to the conclusion that was only ignored so they could use the characters in future plots. Oh, and I would have preferred Kongs first ally be albino to be more of a reference to his history. Both minor quibbles.
In the end, it's a big dumb action movie, but dang, is it a fun one.
I'd almost call it Kong's "King of the Monsters" (Not to say Godzilla didn't get plenty to do.)
