A little something about the students dress

Alright so I was looking at references (to draw a character) and ended up doing a bit of research on academic dresses & graduations uniforms! I only find a couple of things so if someone have more infos I will be very interest!

So in Bloodborne we got those dear uniforms :

The one with the robes is very classic of what people in old classic university still wear for big events and graduations such as in the U.S.A or UK. A decades/century ago they did wore those uniforms of course way more often. Now we wear mostly casual clothes.

(This image always made me think of Byrgenwerth. With the balcony and all. That remind me of a post I made a while ago I have still no clue what those balcony were use for!!!)

At first, I discovered that between a bachelor/licence degree, master degree and phd/doctorate you aren't going to get the same clothes. Plus, colours can differ depending of : the level of the degree, the school or the field you graduate in (can differ depending the countries as well).

Bachelor outfits are the most simple ones with not a lot of colours for most of them. Sometimes they don't have hoods but depends. Sometimes they seems to have very large selves like the Byrgenwerth one. The master ones have a bit more colours and I read generally long sleeves but that depends? Then the phd/doctorate ones are generally very colourful! And like the last sources below v They even had even more beautiful outfit for very important members (so I guess Willem pope outfit still make sense XD)

As for the colors it really depends the country etc but I read red is often associated with medicine and surgery (what a coincidence!). White / purple or even red is for theology and blue could be for sciences (Byrgenwerth/willem researches seems to be quite a mixt with theology/sciences so make sense).

(@katyspersonal we did talk a while back on colours on clothes meaning but hey it had have academic significations that fit well too! So in the end, drawing Laurence with white & red clothes is even more accurate now! XD) Oh I wanna draw him in an entire red academic dress now...Future drawing idea ).

Also I forgot to mentions that there's the hat/trencher that's part of it as well. It's not part of the set in the game but ennemies have it.

Also little side note: some dress have stripes or ermine bands on the clothes that represents their grades and also "academic curiosity, academic honesty, and academic courage."

So i suppose the garb Micolash, Damian & co have would look more similar to a master degree one? I guess?

But I won't throw any rocks at Fromsoftware even if the ones we got might not be too much detailed/ accurate because they sure did their homeworks to find and design those clothes. They aren't historians and they probably found a lot more things than I here (plus Japan don't have those dresses too). They're not going to design like 5 different outfits in the game too XD. (Yes I want more details for my story bc making things way more complicated is way more accurate I guess...) We don't know how exactly those types of institutions fonctions in Bloodborne universe too. And it's a fantasy world after all. So it's free real estate

I dunno if you guys @pyro-madder @karnaca78 @secteel or others could know more about it 🤔

Yakuza Fiance ep 3 Manga Comparison

Ep 3 of Raise wa Tanin ga Ii aka Yakuza Fiance, just aired, and you know the drill there are some important and/or fun things that slipped through the cracks of adaptation. Since I am SUPER normal about the manga I got everything here under the cut. Warning these are fan translations cause I'm lazy.

So for reference yes the manga chapter does start like that but there is a little back and forth in the scene overall including this

Kirishima actually has to beg more for Ayano (thats her name) we loose some good bits, such as Aya being a bikini model and having a boyfriend she complains to him about, and how Kirishima describes their situation like its your bog standard high school romance.

This scene was really cut down to be like a cold open there's more but there's this

We get more insight into Kirishima's situation with these women and confirmation there are more and that they are aware. Another thing is Ayano does help Kirishima work through some thoughts and cutting down their back and forth looses some of that. (maybe i'll do a whole thing on this later)

I actually really like how they did the first sleep scene in the anime except

Why did they leave out the line where Yoshino guesses it was Kirishima? Its so odd but again this scene of Yoshino in the kitchen is longer in the manga

Most importantly it makes clear a full day has passed and that she was trying to sus out info from him at school. Also she ponders if he poisoned her water filter before she has her freak out that he's so crazy it's becoming normal for her.

Overall the second sleep scene is done fairly well I like how it's animated the manga just gives you a feeling its going on longer as Kirishima makes a bunch of braids in her hair so her jumping makes more sense but also we loose this bit

I dunno I just think Kirishima worrying about the futon and her hair is funny.

Honestly I'm actually surprised how closely the convo they have after this is so close to manga. I'm glad cause it's important I could talk about it but thats not what this is for (getting so many ideas though)

So again there is more back and forth about Kirishima calling Gaku (where he says he thinks he shouldve gone in person to apologize) and more on Yoshino's dad, with her asking how much he's looked into her and Kirishima admitting it was a bit. Yoshino also states it was because her dad was normal she had some hopes of being with a normal guy, and that all the men in the house feel like fathers or brothers to her which I do honestly think is important for her so I'm sad thats out. Its not alot but it is some added context.

Yeah he's not introduced in the manga at this point, every other character is there but for some reason the anime added this guy to the scene. Like he shows up WAY later and doesn't do much had it pointed out to me but its still weird. Anyway surprisingly the meet is very accurate to the manga thought for sure they cut something but no instead of ending with Akime giving an ominous stare we get this guy glaring at Renji, and like I think it really undercuts the scene cause it makes him seem more important than he probably is.

Anyway the scene with Hotei is again longer in the manga and like the scenes with Renji a lot of the warmth is lost again you don't really get a sense for their dynamic like technically there's nothing really missing but it doesn't quite have the right feel.

So I am very surprised with how much the cut from the SHouma shopping scene. Such as this

Like Yoshino is literally dragging him around cause he can't be bothered and Yoshino points out he went through the trouble of booking a room but not packing luggage, grade A Shouma logic, (also why that added bit in ep 2 makes zero sense) But we also loose some more explanation as to why he's here now.

Its not needed needed but it does provide extra context. What I am upset with is they didn't do the pay off for a set up in ep 1

Like the weirdly cut out the part of their conversation about the bullying Yoshino got in ep 1 explaining who she sent the picture to and why she did it. It's so weird honestly cause again this shows us how close they are and what their dynamic looks like. Also it just makes the conversation flow more naturally, in the anime is a little odd.

Well at least they kept Kirishima's weird ass basement.

Again though a LOT is cut from the dinner scene with Yoshino and Shouma the conversation is a lot longer.

She brings up Kirishima after rolling down his sleeves (which is funnier in the manga) and again the flow is better. Yoshino gives a much more in-depth explanation about why she can't really describe him to Hotei. But there is some character stuff here in her feeling comfortable enough to tell Shouma, also he makes some funny faces.

Anyway the explanation about the gang stuff is kinda the same overall but the manga feels less expositioney about it what with how its presented and how it feels more like a conversation

It just feels less like Shouma is talking at her but rather with her.

So again I don't get why the anime keeps removing the humor from the series like this

The idea that Yoshino is dying from over eating but Shouma wants to get some ramen and how he compares her to a sea lion, like its fun anime why do you seem to hate fun. But again a LOT of context is taken out of the scene from between Yoshino complaining about Kirishima to Shouma saying he'll kill him

Like the pieces are here but they arent quite fleshed out enough, the anime makes it seem like Shouma just offered to kill unprompted but Yoshino brings it up first in the manga and the way she talks there he does sound more dangerous.

The convo again is similar but lacking in depth, both because its shortened and because a lot of the build up is missing. Honestly theres just sooooo much in this ep I'm not surprised but I am surprised where its cut from. The ending is exactly the same with Kirishima and Shouma meeting (again why that bit last ep??) with the exception of missing out on this golden undercut

thesis statement: given the information about your experiences that you have shared in your post, i think your statement of "[we] fit the DSM-5 OSDD criterion" is false. HOWEVER, i think that you should be able to explore the OSDD label anyway, whether that means that you are just using it as an identity label or using it to better understand how to treat your trauma symptoms better (this does not mean treating your plurality! this means treating your reactions to triggers and the type of dissociation that impairs your life).

but i said i was here to give you info about OSDD diagnostic labels, so let me start there first.

you might already know this, but the thing about diagnostic labels is that "clinically significant distress or impairment" is a very important, but also vague criterion that is put onto all disorders in order to label them as a disorder. even with all other criteria of a diagnostic label met, without this criterion, an individual cannot be said to fit that label. that being said, i think diagnostic labels are a very tight box that are used for very specific purposes (insurance, mainly), and can be wholly irrelevant to how a person identifies and what their personal experience is.

another thing about the OSDD diagnostic label is that it kind of is a "miscellaneous label" for clinicians to diagnose patients with a disorder when they dont totally fit the criteria for DID or something else. the purpose of the OSDD diagnostic label is for people to be able to tell their insurance, "hey, i have a mental health problem, but clinicians can't explicitly say DID, so here is a catch-all diagnostic code for you so i can prove that i need medical/mental health care." the label is specifically for disordered people to still get help, essentially.

or, it originally was. now, people have kind of taken it and made it into a sort of identity label, which, while understandable (wanting a label to understand your personal experience makes sense), makes things a little confusing as the CDD community (a population of people seeking mental health help for their disorder) collides with the endogenic plurality community (a population of people who have similar experiences regarding plurality and want to celebrate this identity)

i dont think "[your] experience fits the DSM-5 OSDD criterion, given that [you] do not experience clinically significant distress or impairment" is necessarily an accurate statement, and i think your post is a little misleading on that point.

BUT, i also think that you should have the freedom to explore the OSDD label and see if your personal experience can be fit under the OSDD umbrella, because who am i to say who can and can't claim that their experiences line up with those who have OSDD? i don't know anything about your experiences beyond what you've shared about them on one post. I dont know my name or anything right now. I'm a new alter formed over the past couple of days and well.

Thats the thing. I got medicated for ADHD and my mind has quietened down and its so calm here. When I'm not stuck in the static of my thoughts, playing in several realms at once, I just feel like Loki. Right now anyway. Shifts do still occur but I find that unsavoury ones from alters who would take over for coping purposes, happen much less frequently. Its become kind of odd, actually. When interacting with the body's family and friends, instead of shifts occurring (I have no idea what happens when theyre in the same place. I feel only one of us is fronting and pretending to be the other one that would front to talk to a friend if family is also present) I kind of just stay me. Whoever I am right now.

Thats the thing. All of us are Loki. We're always Loki no matter who we are. Right now I feel more connected to the 'essence' of Loki, as I feel the flame flickering in my chest, nice and warm. But there's kind of a conflict because I want to put feathers in my hair and fly across cold plains which...I can't do that. Not in this realm at least.

I feel there needs to be a distinction between 'corporeal' - 'real world' - physical world, external world whatever its called, and the...er, other one. Incorporeal? Spiritual? I dunno. Yeah. Two things can be true at once. I've always thought of things as absolute - autism haha - so if one thing is true the other can't be. Because I like computers and gaming and maths and programming and doodling, it seems, well, kind of the opposite to what the fire in my chest makes me feel. When I'm more connected to my self as Loki, I think...pine needles for some reason or pinecones, that appeared somehow, and the opposite of tech, and falcons and swifts. Lots of swifts. Snakes too. Haha banana snake

Before the meds I was operating on like...20 🗿 also, I couldn't tell which were intrusive thoughts and which were actual stuff that was relevant. So. 3 is perfectly OK.

So...tldr : stuff is weird. Very weird. It keeps getting weirder.

The more I realize what's going on the more I hate covering for other alters because now I know its not me my friend thought they talked to. In the past before I knew I was plural I got an odd bodily sensation like I was watching my body talk, like they were talking through me to somehow behind me and I'm just relaying info from the person behind me to them. Actually I think that's pretty accurate. I didn't understand why. I've only understood why more and more recently and...I guess, I'm angry that it is this way. Really angry. And because the body I live in is tainted with trauma, especially since I look like SK (first alter) it keeps triggering shifts to SK which is really annoying. Also I get confused and think I'm SK which I'm not. Also SK isn't really active, he kind of grew up a bit to Cleo, so...I feel Cleo ends up fronting every time I just...see a picture of my body's face. I can't express things well, even anger, in the external/physical/corporeal/'real' world because everything is twinged with trauma and one specific alter, some versions of Cleo, have been carrying us through for years and years and none of us know how to really exist outside of the internal worlds. I feel we will be able to with time, but its one of those problems that are relevant every second, every movement, just you can't ignore it and if its a problem it will continue to be a problem every moment. If you can't ignore it you deal with it. Oh and I'm trying to learn acceptance rather than problem solving. "Yeah this occurs. Yes it sucks. Yes its a problem. And that's OK. I dont have to try to solve every problem immediently, especially since its not possible, sometimes the solution is completely unknown to you right now, a new experience or perspective is needed. I'm going to live with it instead of feeling things that aren't desirable are villains to be killed. Theyre part of me. They make up bits of me. I can't choose the good bits and try to kill the bad bits. It's just not even true."

So, yeah. Gonna have to live with the fact that existing as of now is very confusing, uncomfortable, and weird. People are talking to other people and I have to pretend I'm other people and its frustrating and invalidating. My body is riddled with trauma and associations with the body's parent that are no longer relevant. Seeing it makes an alter who technically dosent exist anymore front - or try to. Or his thoughts bleed into mine. I dont know my name or my story. I exist 3 times at once. Annnd that's OK. It is what it is.

I figured I'd make a proper blog post instead of just random scattered discord posts. Here are some of the things I've done to improve my sims 3 performance, and (mostly) remove stuttering, as well as some stuff to increase the graphics quality. I don't know how accurate any of this is, but it's helped my game a lot  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Please note that I have a 2070, and I would recommend having >2gb for your GPU if using these tweaks (and just in general). While these settings and tweaks might help you if you're on an older card, I have no way of really checking that.

This guide is mostly focused on reducing stutter, with a few tips thrown in for reducing memory usage for the girlies with the large luxurious games and Error 12 problems.

Stutter?

Stutter (or frame drops) are sadly a part of the sims 3, th-e-y're th-e frequ-ent hitches where the game "freezes" for a second, often when moving the camera.

The main tweaks will help reduce stuttering while the game is paused, sadly while playing the game, you're still gunna chug along. Object and sim loading/unloading/displaying/hiding causes a large amount of the stutter, so unless you have an older computer, most of the graphics settings aren't going to help you, but will (in a few cases) help with reducing memory usage.

If you'd like to try this out, there's the (top secret super hidden) config value prop $ConfigGroup ForceHighLODObjects 1, which forces everything to high LOD, which should make the game overall a whole lot smoother both paused and unpaused (high detail lots will still lag it when loading tho) compared to the default settings. Just add a new line under one of the settings fields with it in. Do not use this in your normal gameplay unless playing in a small map, as it greatly increases memory usage. Looks real pretty though.

!!THESE CHANGES SHOULD BE MADE ON TOP OF A GraphicsRules.SRG FILE THAT SUPPORTS YOUR GRAPHICS CARD!!

Either download one that has been updated, update it yourself, or use the tool. No longer providing my own but might in the future.

Main Performance Tweak - LODs

The main setting that helped alleviate most stuttering for me was RenderSimLODDistances in the GraphicsRules.srg file (\The Sims 3\Game\Bin). Essentially we change it to load the low quality LOD models from muuuch further.

prop $ConfigGroup RenderSimLODDistances "70, 70, 9999999, 9999999"

The values for this are highres lot distance, highres world distance, low lot, low world. In an ideal world we would be able to max out high res, but due to how the culling works, that just increases stuttering. I would also recommend turning off ForceActiveLotObjectsToHighLOD if you're using high detail lots > 1, and MinSimLOD to 0

I recommend tweaking the highres values if you get lag when zooming in.

For more memory

I would HIGHLY recommend dropping ActiveLODLimit and ObjectSizeCullFactor, as they are a much better way of reducing loaded in assets. You can be fairly ruthless with them, I recommend dropping ObjectSizeCullFactor down to <75~, and ActiveLODLimit (dunno if this actually does anything) the same (too low and the game will never load). Raise it up if you're noticing pop-in. IIRC your household lot loads everything regardless(?)

If you're frequently running into Error 12, or playing large households, I, sadly, recommend keeping "Max Detail Lots" at 1. I would also recommend DropTexMipsOnLoad = 0 (shouldn't help but it does), and maybe tweaking some of the texture sizes to lower res, depending on your preferences (a lot get crushed anyway). Other options like culling and LOD distances have basically no impact on overall memory use and are safe to increase. Make sure you're also using my memory notifier/freer thing too ;^)

Graphics

Things that didn't have any/much of a performance impact but make the game look better (in my opinion)

prop $ConfigGroup ClipPlaneMapViewDistances "1.0, 12000.0" This is basically how far you can see, I recommend raising this, as I noticed 0 performance hit at all, and I like to be able to see the pretty maps (You'd be surprised at how good some look!). Some maps look a little scuffed with it maxed out, or have seams, however this can be reduced with…

Fog

FogDistances I have mine set to FogDistances "300, 600, 3000, 8000" and FogCurveModifier "9, 1" This is personal preference, and I'd recommend playing around with it to find something that works for your world and clip distance. Neither options have any noticeable performance impact for me (objects still load regardless of clip/fog distance).

AllowImpostorUnload no clue what this does, I set it to false

There's no real reason not to. You could change the values so it loads the low(er) res ones further away and then higher ones in after, but the performance hit was nothing for me. Having all the trees there looks reaaaallllyy nice on some towns.

DXVK and dxwrapper

!!!! THIS MIGHT NOT WORK FOR EA LAUNCHER IDK !!!

UPDATE: I no longer recommend DXVK due to it increasing overall memory usage, having said that, dxwrapper is still very nice, I'd recommend using it over LazyDuchess's ASI loader. Keeping this here down the bottom just in case.

If you are using dxvk, I use(d) dxvk-async but you should be fine to use the main repo. On top of this I use dxwrapper for the exception handling features.

One thing you'll have to keep in mind is Your Options.ini file will need to be remade if using dxvk since it looks like you've installed a new GPU.

To install, just shove the right dll's into your \The Sims 3\Game\Bin folder - d3d9.dll for dxvk, everything from dxwrapper and the ddraw.dll from its Stubs folder. If you're using Smooth Patch, which you should be, it's okay to delete the ddraw provided with it, as dxwrapper can do .asi plugin loading itself (LoadPlugins = 1 in ini). You should see a few new files pop up when you launch the game if installed correctly, dxwrapper.log and TS3W.dxvk-cache

If you're using reshade, rename the reshade dll to dxgi.dll

depth buffer might not work, I'm not 100% sure, so keep that in mind

I think I want to do some speculation about the next couple of pokemon games, but it is largely based on internal findings from the Teraleak and breadcrumbs from leakers. So with that being said, I'll drop it under a cut.

To be precise, this concerns ZA and Gen 10. I have no insider info, I'm just bored.

First, ZA.

The main thing I'm gonna speculate here are some small bits compared to Gen 10, but it's still something to consider after information revealed about Legends Arceus- that information pertaining to the whole reason LA was made.

They made it to be a future testing ground to shape the future of the franchise, basically using it to try things they wanna do in the future. Sounds basic enough and reasonable enough on its own considering what it's laid the foundation for.

However, this being said and keeping this info in mind, there's something they wanted to put in LA that even they couldn't do despite the extreme progress made:

Voice acting, at least beyond basic Grunts.

New data shows they actually had a bit more they wanted to implement but cut out- nothing like fully voice acted scenes as far as I'm aware, but there are recorded phrases such as "Hai," "Arigato," "Hello," very basic things like that.

So imo, I think they're gonna try to implement voice acting for real. Maybe nothing beyond a few specific scenes and some generic phrases, one liners, and Grunts, but a step up from LA since we have a firm understanding the Legends series is a sort of testing ground for new ideas.

I think we all know how awkward some of the clips from the Switch Era (and imo even 3ds era) are without voice acting- after reading over leaks, I'm sure even some devs at GF think that, too. If ZA is going to test using one huge city as a setting, they may as well test out voice acting, too.

The hacker has stated that the game is mostly done, all that's missing is side quest stuff and more accurate translation- this is from a beta of the game that he most likely acquired in August 2024. With that said, maybe a reason we haven't gotten a trailer yet is because they want to get voice acting for the scenes in it, and polish up translations.

As for anything else, the leaks will definitely affect something in production- dunno what yet. Script may be rewritten, a Pokemon shelved, that kind of deal.

On that train of thought, there's a strong chance that info could come out BEFORE Pokemon day in response to the leaked info- if for nothing else than as a force of hand, or to reveal something before the hacker changes his mind and reveals something else for them. But I'd say to get comfortable with the idea we won't see anything for a few months, and if we do, it'll most likely be something very small, like starter or character pngs.

I'm also starting to have doubts about Snivy and Piplup being starters, mainly because it's obvious and Serperior is on the gates of that one palace.

Onto gen 10:

We've gotten only a small tidbit related to this from the hacker himself- that being that gen 10 will be based on some sort of archipelago of islands, and that Gaia is the code name for this, much like Ikkaku is ZA, Titan is SV, Beluga is LGPE, etc. It should be noted that code names usually have little to do with the final result, save Titan- as in Titan pokemon.

There's also some info from leaked documents of correspondence between GF and the anime team- that being some concern of how there was island hopping in Horizons and that for a bit, it was heading towards a "Gaia like direction," and how they wanted to steer the anime away from this if possible.

The above seems to correlate, so we'll say there's a high likelihood it will indeed be an island hopping Advent through an archipelago.

Before anyone goes "nooo too much water-" I need you to understand the last time we really had any sort of major ocean route in a Pokemon game was LGPE, and before that it was ORAS. Notice the key difference here is that ORAS was still using random encounters- everything on the Switch has been using OVERWORLD encounters that you can easily avoid. Even then, we can directly compare the idea to how Alola handled it- you know, the other island hopping region that is surprisingly mostly land locked in terms of where we can go, and traversal between islands is mostly locked to story progression by boat, flight, or a surfing minigame.

It can be handled a variety ways imo, and personally I really adore the idea of islands again, so I say go for it.

This information can also help us narrow it down significantly- it kinda sucks that it seems like Australia is off the menu, but maybe in the future? Still, that's a huge chunk of the world off the table. There is also a chance this is a lie, do it's not totally dismissed just yet.

Mainly if we continue the island trail, it leaves SEA, the Caribbean, Arctic Archipelago, or the Mediterranean as most likely candidates. Out of these, SEA or Mediterranean seems most likely, mainly because they're probably more popular in terms of Japanese tourist destinations and lore to work with, although I think a Caribbean region needs to be made at some point too.

So between SEA and Mediterranean, it's probably going to be somewhere Mediterranean, and specifically- Greece.

Lots of islands, tons of history, and even though it would be the third European region in a row and 4th in total, Greece could be the least milquetoast out of them due to the diverse cultures of the Mediterranean. The lore and mythos to draw from is plentiful, so much so that they've already drawn upon it with Sinnoh's Spear Pillar, Hisui's ruins, and Hoenn's Sootopolis. The lore especially is world famous and can be used to inspire a lot of pokemon- I for one would love a hippogriff Pokemon. Now that being said, regional influences barely affect the dexes, but there's plenty of Pokemon that usually are influenced.

As for the topography itself- I can see it being a One Piece situation with extremes taken to each island- maybe one is engulfed in a snow storm, maybe one is volcanic, one has weird ass plants- you get the idea. Pokemon tries to diversify the topography of each region anyway to include a little of everything of the basics, so it could feasibly work in that regard.

More importantly, what could the overall theming be? Well, that's the tricky part. It could be super heroes for all we know due to the sentai figure in Penny's room, but I certainly hope not because that barely tracks at all.

If we assume gen 10 will release in 2026 during the 30th anniversary, I think it's reasonable to assume we might be getting another nostalgia region like Alola. That many areas could easily represent a little bit of each region in the Pokemon world, and could even serve as something akin to Sonic Generations in terms of a "best of" for each past gen or game. Maybe not a direct thing like an Ecruteak City copy, but that's not exactly off the table either. However, something like this COULD solve the regional variant issues that will arise once we get to Switch 2, particularly with an island having certain "auras" of certain regions to allow for certain evolutions to occur. Maybe even embassies to get unique pokemon.

But that might not happen and it could be it's own thing- I certainly hope so. As much as I adore Alola, it rode Kanto's dick too much.

Of course if we talk about Greece, there's PLENTY of sailing stories to be drawn from from the island hopping perspective.

Now, I'll be honest- I think I'd prefer SEA. Maybe Indonesia especially, because A. It's not another European country, B. It is mostly in the Southern Hemisphere, which we have yet to have a region in. In fact, Indonesia is the most populated southern Hemisphere country. C. I don't know much about it's mythos or lore, but I've researched just a tad out of curiosity- it would probably be the most curious place to visit simply because it isn't as well known as Greece.

But, admittedly, Greece does have a higher chance.

Now, I don't particularly enjoy Khu as a leaker, riddler, or person in general. His riddles suck ass and barely make sense even after the fact, he likes to stir the pot by causing trouble, and he has been known to lie for fun. I've stopped putting as much stock in his riddles for these reasons, also because some if his info can be reasonably inferred without him.

That being said- he has had info in the past and seems to be hinting at information that correlates to a Mediterranean island region. To one user, he said "near you," in which Pasio was their listed location- Pasio is loosely inspired by Italy (further confirmed by a leaked concept map of the region that looks a lot like Italy on its side... sigh, there goes Pokemon Venice I guess). He also tweeted out 🙏, which now has some sense- praying, as in worship. What do you worship? Gods. What's a place known for gods? Greece. What's also near Italy? Greece. He also said "too much water" in regards to the region.

Again, I don't like him. However, if we simply use his info as a guide, it adds some believability to the info above.

But again, all of this could be a big ass lie like his lie with the BW remakes as a "prank" and it all DOES turn out to be Australia.

But we won't know for sure any time soon.

But if I were to pick starters on Greek mythos, the smart man would easily use Greek Myth of gods and monsters as inspiration. Pegasus, minotaur, hydra, Gordon, there's a lot to pick from. You could even try animals that specific gods turned into, such as a bear, spider, bull, what have you.

youre right, the plot holes here really distract from the "narrative," and again they really should have focused on GENERAL species lore first because now theres the chance things will need to be retconned once they actually do come up with the species lore

the web arg aspect of it can be done well, but not for major parts of lore. tell me about your world and species UPFRONT, dont make me dig around in the files just to find out what the hell a terra even is. save the puzzles and games for minor lore, like personality info about the NPCs. thats a fun way to engage the community while also not taking away from the experience of members who dont know/cant figure out the puzzles. the gravity falls comparison is also really good here, since you can watch the show without engaging with any of the ARG aspects and still have a fully formed narrative, a 10 year old watching the show for the first time can understand the world and events perfectly fine without digging through reddit to read backwards codes. this just reminds me of those people who will give important story details OUTSIDE of the story, like jk rowling tweeting dumbledore is gay, or vivziepop giving important details to the hierarchy of her world in podcasts.

its just another example of how terra staff's priorities are really out of whack, you release yet ANOTHER new subtype when your design approvals are still a mess, you make lore for the new subtype BEFORE the lore of the actual species, and you dont fully deliver on either front because theres next to no actual info on the design guidelines of the planetary subtype and there are really weird restrictions (like only being able to have circular planets) attributed to "lore," then we find this lore out and its got major plotholes and still doesnt explain why the planetary subspecies is only allowed to have planets in the visor and not other celestial bodies

in my ideal world, i think the planetary subspecies could operate the same as the fossil subspecies, where theres a "sub-subspecies" for planets, one for stars, one for galaxies, etc. etc. and then you can have your cake and eat it too. you can make your lore around the "planet" sub-subspecies while also not imposing weird and illogical design restrictions. and of course, this would all be done AFTER the general species lore is completed (and given in an EASILY ACCESSIBLE page on the website none of this ARG bs) because really that should have been done a year ago.

Lemme make a list of steps for you to simplify everything! :D

1- Find out who you relate to the most: This is the best and quickest way to figure out your kin! You start with someone you think you connect to, then next

2- You reaserch THE HECK out of them: as much as possible, from their personalities, to their colors (I realized I had some sort of connection for white creatures/characters, so when I found out cabby used to be white, it just seemed like we were meant to be lmao), to their friends and foes, and a lot more, just genuinely study the character!

3- Now find the things you relate to about the character: Take what you learnt, and compare them to your life in your own way, (Ex: Let’s say cabby freaked out over a small fight, try to analyze why she did that, and how much of her reactions and thoughts are related to yours) you can swap the characters for your irl people that affected you in the same way (Ex: let’s say cabby and bot had a fight, if I see myself having the same reaction in the fight but I never really fought with a fictional character, just replace “Bot” with anyone that treated or reacted to you the same way, as accurate as possible is the best option!) and see how much of their personality relates to you, or how they act, or how they think, the more you relate with them in more than just one of these things, the more you are connected!

4- Now imagine: Imagine what you would do in their place, put yourself in similar situations and see how much you react and think like the character! (Ex: Let’s say there’s a scenario that you have to interact in, act in character as much as you can, if it doesn’t seem right or doesn’t fit? You can try to act like yourself and connect the dots!)

5- The most important part of this post:

-It’s completely fine if you take a year or a week to figure yourself out

-You don’t have to be EXACTLY the same, since in reality nobody is the exact same, just make sure that the things you don’t relate to aren’t bigger than the things you relate to

-Its completely fine if you’ve made a mistake on your kin (aka got your kin type wrong) It’s completely normal to make mistakes

-DONT. and I repeat, DONT study the characters you LIKE, study the characters you RELATE to, there’s a huge difference between favorites and kins, even if your favorite character isn’t you kin

-Your kintype is NOT a choice, the kin you found is something you can’t deny or hide, embrace your kin, and try to find the good in the bad

-Be true to yourself, don’t cry or get angry for not getting what you want, be happy about the journey, and about seeing yourself in a different body, shape, color, size, and world! Get excited when you see yourself on the screen and go “Look at me go! That’s me! I’m that character!” <3

-Lastly, don’t stress yourself if you don’t know who you are/don’t know who you relate to, etc, there’s no rush, no race, everyone takes their time, and don’t get angry about what you kin, I want you to be happy that you are a fiction kin, and even if it isn’t the character you wanted, it will feel better when you act as your true self rather than act like the character you like, because in reality your favorite character might not even relate to you at all! But if it does then you’re lucky just like me :D

I hope this helps, in fact I’ll make a smaller less overwhelming list to get the main points for you

1- Find the character you relate to the most (it could be many, or just one) not the character you favorite/like, trust me, if you act like your favorite it won’t seem like your personality fits them, unless your favorite is the one you think you kin!

2- Research, very important, you can use the wiki (no not that boring white and black page, there’s a fan made wiki for all your favorite characters in this website here) to find out more about your character

3- Find connections and relatable information about you and the character, the more accurate you get, the more you will feel connected to said character!

4- Imagine yourself in a situation where you are the character or being yourself and see how much your thoughts and actions link!

WOAH! that’s a lot, I know, but give yourself time.

Thinking about Roxanne Wolf, and the new book info that’s been leaked about how the original personalities of the SB animatronics were different than what we see in game. And from what I’ve seen (not that I’ve seen a ton because I haven’t really looked beyond browsing the Roxy tags here on Tumblr), the general summaries seem to include the notion that “Roxy was programmed with low self esteem.”

I’m not sure that’s really accurate, though.

The actual quote is as follows: “Roxanne was self-centered and competitive. She loved to admire herself in the mirror and frequently asked others how she looked. Edwin had never really liked her personality, but it was what Fazbear execs had wanted for the character [...] Roxy had always enjoyed poking at people's insecurities because of her own deep-seated self-esteem issues, but when The Storyteller came online, Roxanne turned into a full-blown bully. It was like her inherent lack of empathy was morphing into a more aggressive form of pathological cruelty.”

So, yes, she had self-esteem issues even before the change. But I’m not sure that means she was programmed with those issues. I dunno, I just can’t see that being a trait the execs would have been looking for, because that doesn’t seem like something that’ll really draw people in.

So I think it’s something more along the lines of...

Execs want someone kickass for this character. They’ll be the mascot for the raceway, so the character should have the vibe of someone who would be speeding on a highway in a convertible with the top down. So make them competitive, and make them self-obsessed, because they’re the best and they know it.

Except, after that... what happens when she’s not the best? Her programming is telling her that that’s basically her purpose, but she looks around and she’s... not. She’s not everyone’s favorite. She’s not thought of more highly than all the others. But her programming won’t allow her to look at things reasonably, to think something like, “Oh, well, they might be better as abc, but I’m better at xyz, we all have our strengths and weaknesses.” No, in her mind/circuitry, if she’s not the best, she’s nothing. There’s no third option.

So she tries to find validation. And she tries to bring others down (within reason, because there’s not much repeat business if kids go home crying because of her, and execs aren’t fans of that, but she does what she can) for the sake of lifting herself up. She tries basically anything she can to rationalize the idea that she really is the best.

Because she’s very aware that if she’s not, then she may as well just be scrap metal.

...tl;dr Roxy wasn’t programmed with the low self esteem, but because of what she was programmed with, she has gifted kid syndrome and/or imposter syndrome.

What type of sales does Amazon author central have access too? How do sales get reported to them? How accurate are they in terms of royalties?

I have never looked at Amazon Author Central a day in my life, so I dunno. I just googled it though, and it says that the data comes from NPD/Bookscan.

I do have Bookscan, so I can tell you that it shows point-of-sale at retailers. (HOW the reporting works, I have no idea. A... computer program of some kind? I'm assuming????LOL??) -- Anywhoo, on Bookscan I can look up any book published in the US and see how much it has sold this week, this year, in history, how that compares to other titles, how the sales differ regionally, etc -- I assume that you can look on Author Central and see that info but just for YOUR titles.

Is it accurate? It's VERY accurate, and also WILDLY inaccurate. So, it's very accurate in terms of what it is trying to do -- which is count units sold at cash registers in specific stores. Most/all indie bookstores, Target, Amazon, etc, all count. HOWEVER, books sold in non-bookstore locations like, idk, Urban Outfitters or some rando gift shop might not count. Books exported to foreign lands don't count. Books sold to schools and libraries don't count. Books sold at bookfairs etc don't count. And on and on. (Obviously all these sales are real sales for which you do get royalties -- they just don't show up on Bookscan because that's not what Bookscan is.)

Depending on what your book is, of course, a hefty number might be going to schools/libraries/etc -- so if that's the case and you were looking at AuthorCentral alone, you would not be getting the whole picture.

I’ve been sucked into one piece so bad and now really want to make an OC. So I had an idea for a character whose inspired by old maritime/pirate folklore of witches and sea witches.

I’m struggling though with how to go about that. So should it be like a devil fruit thing? Or a friend suggested I just come up with a separate race/tribe like the Kuja? I’m so lost with what direction to take with this 😭

For some info I want to put my OC with the straw hats and want to avoid them just being this insanely over powered person. I did find when researching that some background character from a later arc is categorized as a ‘sorcerer’ but don’t really know what that implies.

Hi, welcome to the chaotic world that is One Piece and welcome to my blog!

I really love the idea of making an OC based off of pirate folklore! Sounds like there would be a lot of cool things to do there! The way I see it, you have four options:

Option 1: A devil fruit. I think a Mythical Zoan would be your best bet. Probably a Hito Hito no Mi, Model: Sea witch. You could put that in One Piece and nobody would bat an eye. Just remember that your OC wouldn't be able to swim. Do you want that for a sea witch?

Option 2: A new tribe/race. This is an option that gives you a lot of freedom because you can pretty much do whatever. You could create a race that has devil fruit style powers as part of their DNA. Oda has done that too. It comes with a few issues though. First of all, your OC's powers wouldn't be unique, because there's a whole tribe of sea witches. This could be good or bad. Second of all, there's a possibility that the World Government or other organizations hunt that tribe down. Once again, this could be good or bad for your story. Maybe this also makes your OC unique again because they're the only one of their kind left? Or at least one of few. This would, of course, have a strong effect on your OC's story and a lot of things that happen to them, so make sure to really consider if you want this.

Option 3: Science. I won't go too much into detail because of spoiler reasons, but incredible things are possible through One Piece science. This would most likely link your OC to a group of people or a specific person who develops said funky science and that's a connection with a lot of lore implications, so you should evaluate if you want that. Implications don't always need to turn into something big, but they can. If this is the option you decide to go for, let me know and I'll tell you more about that science and the people involved, but it will probably contain at least some spoilers, so be warned.

Option 4: It is what it is. I'm not kidding, this is a totally valid option that has been pulled by Oda multiple times. Your sorcerer example would fall under this option, though I believe he hasn't actually been seen practicing sorcery in any canon material. A canon example of this however is a certain woman who, for some reason, can accurately tell the future using a crystal ball. No one knows why. Never explained. And still completely canon. So, if none of the other options speak to you, going "it is what it is" is still a completely valid option.

Maybe as a sort of guideline of how I dealt with a similar issue:

My oldest One Piece OC used to be firmly in the Option 2 category. She's based off of mythology, mostly of Greek Myth, the goddess Selene in particular. Just going "oh yeah, she comes from a race of people who are just like that" worked really well for me for, I dunno, six years? But then a new manga chapter came along with a new lore drop and I thought I'd have to drop my OC's concept for good because it coincided/collided too much with the new lore drop. But then another lore drop happened and I was able to save her through sprinkling in some of Option 3.

The lore drop destroying my concept was purely bad luck. So you'll probably be doing really well with Option 2 if you commit to it. It might take a bit of worldbuilding, but you could also not explain anything. Both works. And if that fails, science can save your butt.

Also, I'm currently working on a new One Piece OC who falls into Option 4, simply because a mermaid being unable to swim would be a little stupid, so I can't give her a devil fruit, and her being involved with funky science just wouldn't suit her character that well. Also, I already kinda pulled that with said oldest OC, so I don't really wanna do it again.

Creating OCs is very situational, but sometimes "fuck around and find out" works surprisingly well or is the only thing that works. Mix and match things together. Run with a certain idea until canon throws a wrench in the works. Adjust things and make stuff up as you go. Sometimes, it's just about taking that first step, the rest will come all on its own.
