Aug 15 (Day 4)-Thief/Enamoured

Azuri is visited by an unexpected guest and it’s lovely. Prompts by @tes-summer-fest

“Someone to see you, Archmage.”
Azuri stood up from the little garden bed, she’d been almost finished anyway. “Of course.”
A Khajiiti woman stepped forward as the servant retreated. Azuri craned her neck upward; the other woman was larger than anyone she’d ever met. She was easily ten feet tall and massively built with grey, stripey fur. She wore elegant Khajiiti plate armor that was enamelled a deep, lustrous purple. It was quite possibly the prettiest armor Azuri had ever seen.
“May this one kneel to be closer? Some do not like that, but some like it too much.” The woman’s voice was brighter than Azuri anticipated.
“Oh… yes. I wouldn’t mind. It would make it easier to talk.”
The other woman knelt; her tufted ears twitching in amusement. But her smile was kind, and oh, so familiar. “This one is pleased to meet you. This one is Chihari.”
They shook hands as the pieces fell into place. “Azuri Indoril. You’re Kharjo’s sister?”
“Yes. And Khajiit is honored to meet you.”
“The feeling is mutual. Kharjo has told me a lot about you. Oh, but where are my manners? Come, let’s go sit and have some refreshments. I’m sure you’ve had a long trip all the way up here to Winterhold.”
“You are most kind, Azuri.”
They headed up to the Archmage’s quarters, Chihari ducking under most doorways as they passed. Azuri gave her a rueful smile. “My apologies. I guess they didn’t account for taller people coming through here.”
“Khajiit is accustomed to it. Few places are built with Pahmar-raht in mind.”
Once they had settled around the table in the Archmage’s rooms, servants brought some snacks to complement the refreshments that Azuri already had.
“Oh, you have sweetcakes!” Chihari exclaimed, settling into the oversized armchair that Azuri had dragged over. “Ah, it is good to have a chair that fits.”
“I have plenty of drink options, also. Would you prefer cane mead or tea? I have mint and Khenarthi’s Wings Chai?”
“Ah, mint tea would be lovely. This one did not expect so many options from home in this place.”
Azuri smiled as she assembled the pot of tea and warmed it with a flame spell. “I am also far from my home. I know how it is to miss the things we leave behind. So I try to bring what I can here. So we can at least have little things like this.”
“That is a most wonderful thing. I can see why Kharjo is enamoured with you.” Her ears twitched, and Azuri knew she was doing the Khajiit equivalent of blushing. “He has sent me many letters. He speaks of you often in them.”
Azuri’s own face warmed. “I didn’t know that. I knew you two wrote back and forth, but not what about.”
“Ah. Well, Khajiit thought to come meet you for myself. This one escorted a delegation to Solitude, and now that service is done. So, Khajiit has come now to this Winterhold to meet you and to see this one’s brother. It has been a long time since we have seen each other.”
“I think this will be a lovely surprise for him! It has been for me.”
“You are too kind, Azuri.”
***
Kharjo all but bounded up the steps to the Archmage’s rooms. Korir had called the training of the new guards early, sending everyone home for the day for some holiday or another. It just meant he could go home all the earlier to his beloved.
As he reached the door he heard laughter from the other side. They had company? He wondered who’d come to visit? Perhaps Besharat? Or maybe Thaeril had come up from Riften? He supposed it would be nice to visit for a while…
As he opened the door, every thought flew out of his head. “Chihari?”
She crossed the room in three giant steps, gathering him into a hug that lifted him off the ground. “Kharjo!”
“You are… you are here?” he stammered as she set him down.
“Indeed. I came to Skyrim with a job and now I am free to visit you and meet the one you are enamoured with.”
Azuri giggled as she stepped up, kissing him on the cheek. “We’ve had a lovely afternoon. I’m glad you’re home early to join us. Would you like some tea?”
His arm slipped around her waist as he smiled. “Khajiit would like that very much. My thanks, Moonbeam.”
“You could use it after a long day of work. Come sit with us. I’d love to hear more stories now that you’re both here.”
“Of course. Chihari has not told too many embarrassing stories about Kharjo, has she?” he teased.
“Only the ones that are true!” his sister laughed.
As they all sat again, Khrjo found himself now thankful they had company. He had never in his wildest dreams imagined he would be able to sit at a table with both his beloved Azuri and his beloved sister. And to see them laugh and joke as if they were old friends? It was better than he could have imagined. In fact, it was perfect.

Winter Friends Are Friends Forever
This was a prompt fill from my very, very dear friend Jinumon! (Chyeah that's the one I'm writin' the original book with lol.)
He didn't actually put the strangeness restriction on me, this time. I decide that on my own for a challenge LOL and I think it was fun, even if difficult. (:
The Prompt:
“My old grandmother always used to say, Summer friends will melt away like summer snows, but winter friends are friends forever.” ― George R.R. Martin, A Feast for Crows
Special shoutout to @archangelsunited for the amazing beta reading work. You are invaluable. I love that I learn new things and different perspectives when I get to read through your comments and dig into the editing. AH it's my favorite.
Without further ado,
Winter Friends Are Friends Forever
Cold.
Always cold now, because Man didn’t light the fire anymore. Or couldn’t. He was like the rabbit Meeko had just caught. Only bones—or would be soon enough.
Sad.
Meeko didn’t like that. He whimpered to himself. It was strange and quiet in this place. No more ear scratches, no more treats. No light. No fire. No blankets. None of it. House was empty and Man was in his long sleep and the storms just kept coming. The snow wasn’t so bad. Better than loud rain, but not better than mud. Snow didn’t make the sadness go away, though—at least, not for long.
He gnawed thoughtfully at the rabbit’s leg bone until it snapped. The marrow was fine, but he was still hungry—and that meant he’d have to go catch another. He whined, though nobody was around to hear him. The sound echoed out over the frozen field behind House. Meeko only ever made that noise because Man would ask him questions whenever he heard it. Meeko didn’t understand Man most of the time, except for a few words. ‘Food’ was his favorite one. ‘Outside’ normally was second best, but lately it was the same as ‘Inside,’ or maybe a little bit worse—almost like ‘No,’ or ‘Bad Dog.’
He missed Man’s voice—if he’d only wake up from the long sleep and talk again, Meeko wouldn’t mind. But he knew it couldn’t happen. He’d seen so many long sleeps happen in his time. Before Man had left the stone city behind and built House out here in the woods, Girl had a long sleep. When Girl was nothing but a squalling bundle of blankets, Lady had a long sleep. He remembered the new beds Man made for them under all that dirt.
Still sad.
Meeko let out another whine. Only an echo of the sound through the forest ever answered.
He wandered back to House and stepped inside, snowy paws leaving wet marks on the wooden floor. In a storm, the door had been damaged, and hung off its hinges at the top. It squeaked when he pushed past it into the dark. Man still slept on his bed. Meeko nudged his hand—almost all bone now—which hung off the side. It would not wake him. It never did, but it wouldn’t feel right if he didn’t do it.
Meeko would catch another rabbit, but he wouldn’t go unless House was okay. He nosed around each corner, pausing to bark at a spider crawling up the wall. Those things never listened. When he caught them, they crunched and tasted bitter—not like rabbit. He didn’t like them. He couldn’t help it, though. They moved with all those legs, and he had to catch them. Meeko didn’t make the rules. When the spider was out of reach, he remembered that he was still hungry. He grumbled as he walked back out into the snow. The ground was icy and stung the bottom of his feet if he stayed still too long.
Still cold. -> Read the rest on AO3!

My ldb's parents, Ulami and Helin Thenith
The Thenith family was banished from House Sathil at the end of the 3rd Era for disagreeing with the Temple's new position. These two were very young back then. Later on they intend to fight their way back into the House. Because of their ambitions it seems like sometimes they forget they even have a child

What are the masq goobers favourite activities?
Tumblr media
Ego likes to perform! They’re a bard at heart, so they’re drawn to anything involving an audience. This can be playing an instrument, singing, acting, brawling, etc etc. Their mask gives them great comfort in knowing that they will only be judged for their skill and actions when performing, not by who they were born as.
Erandur likes to care for and style his and others’ hair! I have a headcanon that one of Mara’s symbols is long flowing hair as a sign of good parenthood. Being able to do a child’s hair is a well-meaning gesture from parent to kid, so her followers keep their hair long and groomed to prove that if they can care for their own locks, they can certainly do the same for a child. Erandur likes to get creative and colorful with his!
Serana (yes that’s her, I’ve put her in the netch leather hood) likes to collect shinies! She’s always been a collector, and since her entombment, she has found her old collections of shinies to be long gone. So, she’s picking up the hobby again upon joining the Masq!
Miraak likes to sing! Singing is a great way to temper one’s Thu’um without Shouting, and “dragon choirs”—literally a group of dragons getting together to sing—is heard commonly throughout Skyrim upon distant mountaintops. Miraak feels especially called to join their song.
Sanguine likes gardening! Even though he can simply wave his hand and have plants grow at his will, he much prefers to aid the natural process and hone his botany skill. He finds it very relaxing, being able to be a positive force in something’s life.
Ancano likes to draw! It became a hobby and skill of his from a very young age, and keeps many art journals where he recreates locations he’s visited or doodles people he’s met. He’s got a semi-realistic art style and was often commissioned by his father for new drawings.
And Rakell likes chicken husbandry! Chickens are his all-time favorite animal. When he was with Iren, they used to have a flock of their own that they’d farm and Rakell would find himself very entertained by these birds. I’m still debating on giving him chickens during TDI’s events, but either way he will either love on them constantly or desperately talk about wanting chickens during their travels.

recently, my skyrim fanfiction Cycle of the Serpent hit 1,000 hits on both Ao3 and Royal Road!! i wanted to make something to celebrate, so here's a picture of the dragonborn trio!
putting my sappy thoughts under the read more, but thank you all for taking the time to read through this behemoth of a WIP. we're not even half way done, and the fact there are several people consistently tagging along for the ride is mind-boggling to me. i could not have done this whatsoever without you all. thank you! <33
also if you have no idea what i'm talking about and are curious, it's on archive of our own here, and royal road here! and if you just want a taste of what you'll be getting into, i have posted dozens of excerpts under my writing tag. anyways, sappy ramble under the read more.
so, this is just me kind of shouting into the void, but i wanted to take a second to talk about how much i appreciate you guys. i stopped putting my writing out there into the world when i was about nineteen, due to various circumstances i couldn't control. sometimes i would upload a snippet here or there, but that was all. so taking the leap last May to make a new ao3 account and show people my writing again was legitimately terrifying, but you all have made it so worth it. tbh i don't know where i'd be without tesblr, i made some of my closest current friends through it and am now - through the encouragement of one of my very good tesblr friends, you know who you are ♥ - actively involved in a modding project, and planning to apply to another one this november. this community has changed my life for the better, and it boggles my mind that enough of you have thought my writing was something that you wanted to come back to even when i update on a slow schedule.
all that to say, thank you all for reading my work, or showing interest in my WIP Wednesdays, or just hanging out in this corner of tumblr. i hope you will tag along to the very end of this fic and we can lose our sanity to three bastard elves together AHAH <3333

Vilkas? Physical affection? What on Nirn is going on here
I haven’t drawn Alfe in a hot minute - last time you saw her, she looked like this, and I couldn’t draw very well 😅
That picture seems to have gained some attention recently, so I figured I’d draw her with Vilkas this time. They are friends, I swear. Even if she is the bane of his existence

Aug 7th (Day 3): Prompt- Starlit / Teeth
Day 3: Teeth- Azuri tells Kharjo the story of how she was taught to fight by Nerevar. I’m sure I’m way off canon with some of my ideas, but that’s just how it goes sometimes. Also, Kharjo loves to use pet names because he is the actual sweetest.
Translations: yi daelha- my love (Dunmeris), ahziss siir- my [heavenly, holy] light (Ta’agra), serush- beautiful (Ta’agra)
Dunmer LDB x Kharjo

(Description in alt text. Azuri is wearing the Seer Robes from the Skyrim Outfitters: Vestoriam Magus mod. Kharjo is wearing Khajiiti Chain Armor from the Khajiiti Armory mod.)
***
It was late when Kharjo finally trudged back up from the jarl’s house to the College. The sun had set and Jone and Jode were out, both waning. Dagi-raht moons. But at that moment he wasn’t looking at them, he was focused on getting back to the Archmage’s Quarters and his beloved.
But the Archmage's Quarters were empty.
“Azuri?”
He checked all the rooms, and found the small door that led up to the roof open. He followed up the spiral staircase until he was outside once again.
She had shed her robes and wore only a soft shirt and pants. Her hair was tied up in a messy knot on top of her head, eyes narrowed in concentration. In her hand she held a staff, but she whirled and thrust it like a spear. Her style was not one he was familiar with, but she obviously well practiced.
As she turned, she noticed him standing by the door. It startled her for a brief second, her hands tightening around the staff. But then she relaxed, and smiled.
"You're home, yi daelha!" She ran over to hug him. "How was work?"
"The jarl's new guards grow more skilled each day. Khajiit already plans to train them harder now, and the jarl agrees. But the day was not supposed to go on so long. Kharjo is sorry he is so late."
As he leaned down to kiss her forehead, she chuckled. “It’s okay. How many times have I been stuck on a long job? But things are going so well! I still can hardly believe Korir came around the way he did, but I’m glad he did.”
“As is Khajiit, ahziss siir. Now, do tell Kharjo, what are you doing? You fight with that staff in a style Khajiit has never seen. Who taught you this?”
“Nerevar did.”
“You were taught by your First Era warlord?”
“Yeah. You know he’s my ancestor guardian, and while he has a hard time manifesting in our world, we talk quite often in dreams. Let me tell you the story.”
They sat together on the roof, and Azuri began.
*** (Then) ***
"Azuri!" He greeted. They met as they always did, in a field of flowers and bright sun, though he was certain she’d never been to such a place in the waking world.
She sobbed as she threw her arms around his waist and hugged him hard. "Nerevar! I… I need your advice. Really bad. I need someone wise to show me if I'm right or not."
"Of course!" He pulled back, putting his hands on her shoulders. "What troubles you?"
"Will you swear not to tell anyone else?"
"Of course, Azuri. I will always respect your privacy."
She dropped her head. "I want to leave."
"Leave where?"
"This House. Mournhold. Morrowind. If I am to escape, I have to go far away where my parents can't find me."
He nodded. "Where do you plan to go?"
Her head flew up again. "You aren't going to stop me? Or talk me out of it?"
"Well I can't actually stop you, and I see no reason to talk you out of it. You've told me more than enough for me to know that going out and getting some independence would be good for you. I don't know how your parents expect you to have any kind of destiny with the way they keep you sheltered."
Azuri was crying happy tears now, and she hugged him again. "Thank you, Nerevar! Can… can you help me plan? What should I take? What's the best way to get out? I… I think I'll start in Cyrodiil, then make my way… I'm not even sure where. Maybe Skyrim? It's more isolated there but I'm not prepared for that yet."
"You've been thinking about this. That's good that you recognize where your weaknesses might be. I will help you as much as I can. It's been a long time since I walked the world, but some things don't change." He crossed his arms thoughtfully. “First we’re going to start with how to defend yourself.”
“I… I can use an axe. Like… like the Nerevarine did.”
He gave her a gentle smile. “Ah yes. Rilenna is uniquely skilled with an axe. But you, my dear, are more likely to carry a staff. And my first weapon was a spear. So we will start there. Tomorrow night. I will teach you to fight and we will plan your escape.”
++
The next night they met again. This time a circle had been cleared in the grass and flowers. Nerevar held two spears, one of which he handed to Azuri.
“Now then. Make sure you practice this when you can in the real world, too. Any stick or staff or even a curtain rod would work. Now then, hold it like this, and do what I do.”
Azuri did, but soon her shoulders sagged. She let out a frustrated cry. “I’m never going to be as good as you, Nerevar! How can I learn to fight like you?”
He gave her a sigh and a gentle smile. “Do you think I was any good when I first learned to fight?”
“Weren’t you?”
“Azura’s mercy, no! It took a long time, and a lot of dedication, to get to where I was in life. Like everything, it takes practice. And you can do this. You have the will and the strength of mind. Let’s try it again, and then we’ll talk about supplies you should start stockpiling.”
++
It took time, but Azuri worked tirelessly and began to improve. So Nerevar started to push her harder.
They were sparring, staves clacking and whirling, when he suddenly slipped around her. Using his greater height, he slipped his staff over her head and used it to pin her arms. He chuckled.
“What do you do now? I’m bigger and stronger, how do you break free?”
“Magicka?”
“That will work. How else?”
“I could kick you?”
“Okay, one more.”
“Umm… I don’t know?”
He let her go and came back around. Setting the butt of his spear on the ground, he leaned on it. “You use every tool and weapon your body has. Magicka, feet, elbows, knees, nails, teeth, whatever you can.”
“Teeth? Like, bite them?”
“If it’s you or them? You’re damn right. I’m not here to teach you to fight so it looks pretty. I’m here to teach you to fight so you’ll survive. Fight dirty, and don’t be afraid to. Even if you have to bite them.” He grinned. “But you’re coming along well. I think you’ll be ready by your birthday like you want to be. Now let’s run through that again.”
*** (Now) ***
“How long did you train with Nerevar?” Kharjo asked.
“I’ve never stopped. We still talk about it to this day. He always seems to think of new things to tell me, new tricks to put up my sleeve. But before I left Mournhold, we trained for the better part of a year. I actually did have a curtain rod in my room I used to practice with.”
“And how many have felt the wrath of your teeth?”
She laughed. “I’ve bitten my fair share of enemies. And what he taught me works well because fighting styles have changed so much, so it throws opponents off when I start pulling out Chimer spear tactics and gives me an advantage. And he taught me how to survive outside of fighting, like how to make a camp and how to just be in the world. I owe him everything. I never would have gotten out otherwise.”
“Then Khajiit is grateful also. Would… would you teach Khajiit your Chimer fighting style? Kharjo will teach you what he knows of the styles of his homeland in return.”
Eyeing up his plate-armored form, she raised an eyebrow. “You want me to teach you how to fight? I mean… I certainly can, but...”
“Khajiit would rather train with no one else.” He butted her gently with his forehead and kissed her cheek. “But for now, Khajiit would like supper and a bath, preferably with his serush.”
She kissed him back. “I’d like that, too. How about we start the training tomorrow?”
“That is perfect. Khajiit looks forward to it. It will be rather exciting to spar together.”
“Well, I hope so. But I’m also rather excited about this idea of supper and a bath.”
“Ah, then let us go now, Moonbeam.”
Hand in hand, they descended the stairs until they were back in the inviting warmth of their chamber. They went first to the bathing room, steam rising as she turned on the tap and the tub began to fill.
Smiling at Kharjo as he began to strip out of his armor, Azuri said a silent thanks to Nerevar. It had been her parents' pride and ambition that had led to the Hortator himself being her guardian. But he'd been everything to her that her parents weren't; he'd encouraged her, helped her, loved and believed in her. He'd helped her to win this freedom, this life she'd built. And that was more valuable than anything on Nirn or in any other plane of existence.
Kharjo's purr of her name brought her out of her thoughts, and before she knew it she'd been swept up into his arms and kissed. "By the Moons, you are most beautiful when lost in thought. But perhaps you will join Khajiit in the bath now?"
"Of course, my heart." She giggled, pulling off her cold, sweaty clothes and following him into the steaming tub.
And it was wonderful.

Do you have any ocxoc relationship pairings?
omg hii anon!
i actually have multiple ocxoc ships, but this pairing featuring my Dragonborn and my ex (?) Thalmor mage is by far my most developed ->
Tumblr media
They meet in Whiterun, specifically the Temple of Kynareth, right after Tilavyne finds out she's the Last Dragonborn, and the two of them hit it off pretty well! Aurelion accompanies her on her adventures through Skyrim, and eventually, feelings start developping and they enter a relationship! All is well... at least for now :)
They're basically two very broken people who try to build each other up and heal the wounds of their pasts, but this isn't always easy. They're trying their best, though.

I'm hoping to get more into the Tesblr art scene here - this is my first time illustrating an OC :)
This is my current LDB in Skyrim - her name is Bryagh (named after one of the dragons in Flight of Dragons lol) and she's a half-Bosmer half-Dunmer agent!
She grew up in High Rock, and was initially trained as a squire in one of the knightly orders. After a duel where she was nearly taken out by a lightning spell, her father (my first HOK - I haven't drawn him yet, he's a Bosmer named Odriel) trained her in stealth and archery.
She still likes to make use of her knightly training when she can, alternating between heavy and light armor situationally :)
