YES, the Lady bred her bloodline with the intention that they would die as sacrificial lambs and be a meatsuit for her undead Criston Cole Champion.
I said those things on twt a year ago
But instead a bunch of freaks (all katherine haters) called me a "miS0gYniSt🤪" for simply stating a fact
You know what's misogynistic? Hating on Katherine because she's a soft femme girl.
I dislike the Lady because of her hypocrisy. In fact, the Lady were a man I'd hate her a billion times more, and if Sarcean were a woman (Femcean supremacy!!! I hc him as genderqueer tbh) I'd stan him a zillion times more.
#proof that I will still passionately loathe the Lady if she were male is how I was vocally anti-Dumbledore when i was a HP fan#i LOATHE all kinds of Light Side figureheads they're ALL HYPOCRITES#being a cis gay man doesnt make em any more bearable#Rhaenyra is a fem Sarcean tho they whitewash her in the show!! controversial opinions on characters? (specifically harry potter)
hi anon! thanks for the ask :)
hmmmm i have quite a few
i don't like luna lovegood. i think she's very irritating as a person and i would absolutely go batshit if i had to interact with her in real life. she is the wizard equivalent of a flat earther and an anti vaxxer, not a spiritual guide. hermione wasn't narrow minded for doubting her and xeno, they were the narrow minded ones for never questioning their beliefs despite the MOUNTAINS of evidence against them. rahhh she makes me so angry. (i hate that i have to specify, but this isn't misogynistic, i would feel the same if she was a guy.)
lucius malfoy is a relatively harmless guy, he's just slippery. he gives me such peacock vibes. he just wants to show off and look rich and not be questioned. (also he def dotes on narcissa and draco which is adorable to explore in fics <3 i think he would be an amazing father to a little girl and would have loved a daughter which i like exploring in my fics, but that's just a headcanon)
draco is the same way, i feel. iirc he's usually too scared to start shit unless crabbe and goyle are there, he just makes me laugh tbh. of course he does do and say some shitty things but i am just. unable to take him seriously. this may be because i haven't thought about his character in a while, but as of right now, i don't really see him as evil OR a sympathetic little boy. he's just. a little dude. (he is more dangerous than his father though, i'll give him that.) i mean if marauders stans are allowed to glorify james potter and put him on a pedestal, i'm allowed to have this.
percy weasley! i love percy so much, i think this is an uncommon opinion but i don't really know. i think he's amazing, i've already talked about him a lot on my blog so ye :)
i think the weasley family is dysfunctional asf. i don't think i personally can explain it, but this post by @/arkadijxpancakes does a great job of comprehensively analyzing their history and dynamics as well as showing why each weasley is the way they are. super good read!
albus dumbledore: i don't know why this is controversial but i actually think he was a good character, all things considered. yes, he did some bad things, but they were to help save the wizarding world in the end. he set it all up.
severus snape: i think he's awesome, deserved WAY better, and was a traumatized character who is severely overhated. please don't try to fight me on this, you'll just give me a headache.
lily evans: this is a very new opinion of mine but... i don't think she was a great person. i used to wonder 'how could james potter, a shitty little twit twat, end up with such a wonderful and kind and amazing person?' but i've come to realize, she's really not those things. she was kind of a bad friend from what we know. i still think she's very interesting, but not necessarily a good person.
harry potter!! i want to include him because i think that quite frankly he is an awesome little dude but is super underrated and borderline disliked by a big part of the fandom. though i personally feel like he could have been written better in some ways, i still love him tons and i think he deserves more appreciation <33 (also i adore the idea of an oddly specific au where percy and oliver team up to take care of lil tiny first year harry)
neville longbottom: this may be the most controversial one yet but i just don't feel the hype. i feel like he was largely unimportant in the first six books besides as a side character (but it's been a while since i read most of them, so correct me if i'm wrong) and yeah he was cool in the seventh, but like... i still don't feel it. he was pretty boring imo. i think i logically understand why he's loved, but i don't personally relate :/
(canon) james potter: hate him. -100000000/10. he can go die. (OH WAIT HE ALREADY DID!) i'm sorry, i just cannot like him. fanon james is awesome and super cute and lovable, but fanon james is a whole different person than canon james. if we compare young severus to harry, james is dudley dursley in literally every way. rich, privileged, gets away with everything, and loves picking on powerless and vulnerable people for fun. the only difference is that james potter tended to do it with a partner/group, and dudley could do it on his own. oh, and dudley apologized, i guess. it was pretty half assed but we did see him trying to be better with the teacup and stuff. they both suck, obviously, but at least dudley had a slight turning point. maybe i just don't like james because we never saw him be apologetic or regret anything in canon? idk.
cho chang: i honestly really liked her! i thought she and harry could have been super cute ever since i read the third book. now obviously valentines day of 1996 was a disaster, but i still think that if she and harry had met up again after the war and after they had figured themselves out, they could have sort of talked and apologized and moved on and possibly rekindled. idk, this isn't really as ~controversial~ as some of the others because i feel like cho chang is just more forgotten than unpopular or controversial, but i don't see a lot of charry content out there so i'm putting this here :]
one last thing i almost forgot, VIKTOR KRUM IS A FUCKING CREEP!! i used to be more hesitant about voicing this opinion because he's so loved in the fandom, but GOD DAMN he's a creep. as a famous, rich, popular adult, he asks out a 15 year old and is super nice to her and appreciates her intellect and is generally very sweet to her, but that just. that literally just sounds like grooming to me?? wtf?? i mean if i was asked out at 15 by an 18 year old, i would be VERY creeped out. also he comments on how attractive ginny (15 at the time) is at bill's wedding when HE IS IN HIS 20s. he then makes a comment along the lines of 'what's the point of being famous if all the good looking girls are taken?' HEY HERE'S AN IDEA, FIND A WOMAN INSTEAD OF A GIRL??
there's gotta be more controversial opinions i have but no one else comes to mind right now; feel free to request opinions on specific characters! i have a lot of those :]

Hi. Since you defend Snape's actions for being a victim of his socio-economic circumstance, would you defend Voldemort in the same way? After all he grew up in an emotionally and financially neglectful orphanage, during world war 2 at that. Do you think his actions are also a circumstance of his upbringing? Could he have changed? Was his future violence influenced by being stuck in a house, as a perceived muggleborn, that held prejudice against muggleborns and could have been therefore ostraziced or bullied just like Severus was? Of course Tom had a huge advantage of being attractive and charismatic and had the type of personality that allowed him to "thrive", but still he suffered a lot and I would even say he suffered more than Severus. What do you think?
The thing with Tommy is that Rowling basically labels him a psychopath from childhood because she literally says that since he was conceived through a love potion, he cannot feel love himself. So, she already frames him as a person with antisocial conduct disorder, which I’ve always thought is nonsense because you can end up killing people en masse without having been conceived without love. Rowling's idea of love and its consequences is entirely conservative and has very misogynistic undertones regarding the role of women in the equation, especially when it comes to maternal love.
The fact that she blames a "bad mother" and not the father who left without taking responsibility for his offspring is sexist as hell, but well, we're not here to talk about how Rowling lets her male characters get away with behaviors for which she would crucify any of her female characters while at the same time having female characters whom she only treats positively if they adhere to traditional notions of femininity related to motherhood but condemns them harshly if that traditional femininity involves personal tastes, hobbies, or personality traits. Rowling, you’re a fucking misogynist with a highly patriarchal view and a desperate need for male validation, but I’ll let you be for now.
I’ve always thought that if Dumbledore hadn’t stigmatized Tommy from the start, maybe things could’ve been different. But he labeled him as a sociopathic child from minute one and abandoned him to his fate. He saw a child with obvious behavioral problems in an utterly dysfunctional environment with all kinds of deficiencies—an orphan left to fend for himself in a post-war orphanage. He decided the kid was bad and stuck that stereotype on him throughout his life.
I don’t know if, with better treatment, he could have turned out to be a more decent person because Rowling decided he should be a sadistic sociopath from the cradle. But there are functional psychopaths everywhere. Top company executives are functional psychopaths, high-ranking officials are often functional psychopaths, and celebrities can be functional psychopaths. You can have an antisocial personality disorder and still be functional if treated properly. Could this have happened with Tommy? I don’t rule it out, honestly.
What I am sure of is that Tommy had a lot of resentment toward Dumbledore, and that resentment wasn’t unfounded. Dumbledore left many boys and girls who didn’t fit into his ethical and moral standards, or whom he simply found too complicated to manipulate, at the mercy of the "dark side." It’s no coincidence that those boys and girls ended up making wrong decisions.
Dumbledore was a figure of authority in the magical world, especially at Hogwarts. He was someone from whom everyone sought validation, and probably teenagers without strong parental figures needed that validation even more. And he made sure to despise many of those teenagers instead of working with them and trying to guide them properly, which is the role of a good teacher—especially one directly responsible for them during the school year.
I think if the Marauders started to disgust me when I saw the SWM scene in the fifth book, Dumbledore started to make me sick from the sixth book, when his treatment of Tom is exposed. You can’t label a child like that and then try to undermine his ambitions constantly when he’s a teenager. You’re only going to provoke increased resentment and opposition to everything you represent.
I also think Tommy has many parallels with Snape in the sense that both had Muggle fathers they clearly hated and despised. Their hatred toward Muggles likely began there, compounded by living in post-war conditions and being in a miserable orphanage of that era, which must have been hellish. They both probably wanted to distance themselves from everything that being a Muggle represented.
It doesn’t seem like a coincidence to me that both characters are half-bloods with Muggle fathers and have issues with Muggles because their experience outside the magical world—their experience with Muggles and the Muggle side of life—was absolutely dreadful. But at the same time, they are quite different because Voldemort, according to Rowling, couldn’t feel love and, I assume, couldn’t feel affection either, besides being a narcissist hungry for power.
Although, if you ask me, at its core, I think he was just a sadist angry at his parents. It always comes down to the parents, right? xD

Harry Potter and the Depths of A03.
Imagine this if you will:
It's after the Battle of Hogwarts. Voldemort finds out if he kills Harry, he'll destroy a Hora-crux. So what does he do instead? Breeding. More PURE-BLOOD WIZARDS AND WITCHES!!! Voldemort impregnates in Dumbledore's office with his portrait watching Harry and himself through the newly discovered magic of MPREGOMUS!!! The Elder Wand makes a unique anal bead. Like Slytherians forever!!! Dumbledore was a manipulative jerkass and suspected racist anyway.
Meanwhile, Ronald Wesley, a renowned misogynist, was going to find Hermione Granger and purpose a marriage when he walked into the Prefect's bathroom and found her and DRACO MALFOY, in the throes of making babies. Disgusted, Ronald Wesley went to the top of the Astronomy Tower and jumped off like that jerkass Dumbledore and landed face first into the cobblestones. Misogynists get what they deserve.
Down at Hagrid's Hut, PROFESSOR SEVERUS SNAPE FINALLY HAD SEX WITH LILY POTTER!!! Forcing James Potter to watch in agony at PROFESSOR SEVERUS SNAPE'S SEXUAL PROWESS. The force of his thrusting was so strong it uprooted all the trees in the Forbidden Forest. Slytherins are so well-versed in love giving.

Hi!!! What r ur thoughts on Snape???🙏
Hiii :D oh this will be fun!
I don't mind him actually! I think he's ONE of the most interesting characters in Harry Potter (Golden Era and during the 70s). I like him much more as a teenager, being a snarky and awkward kid navigating his social surroundings. I'm more sympathetic to him as a teenager (+During First Wizarding War) but I'm a little on the fence when he's a teacher (how he treated Neville and Hermione). I can understand why people dislike him for being a bad teacher.
I will be honest, I definitely think Snape is a HIGHLIGHT example of the Fandom's hypocrisy. There is a constant demand for morally grey characters in the fandom and yet when they are presented with a CANON morally grey character, they cower basically (and I mean this with Dumbledore too!).
I also do think he is demonized a lot, especially his friendship with Lily because it's the fandom's way of making up for the lack of women in every way shape, or form. Everyone is very careful about Lily (Jegulus shippers) and they fear portraying her in any negative manner because they think if they do they will get called misogynistic. So they put everything onto Snape.
If you ask me, his friendship with Lily is very complicated and I don't think either had a mass blame on the falling out. Snape thinks she was choosing his bullies over him and Lily thinks that Snape didn't think of her very highly, which makes it worse by the fact that she was muggleborn. I don't blame Snape for never getting over his hate of James, what the Marauders did to/allowed what happened to him was fucked up.
I was constantly picked on/made uncomfortable/chased around the school by a boy years ago and the adults didn't really hear me out, to this day I still feel uncomfortable. And it's been like what 7 years or so? Shit sticks and it is obvious nothing was done about it.
However, it is wrong of Severus to take it out on Harry! That I won't deny. Like I said before, I don't blame people for not liking him as an adult. It's just when they condemn a teenager for this?? Ehhhhh...
He as a character is interesting. I see him as a very "child imagination" character, going from an abused and forgotten (using that word loosely) kid to a war hero basically. It's almost like it's what everyone imagined as a kid. I think he definitely fantasized about something like that as a child. Being an abused boy and wanting out. And thinking back on it when he was dying.
When he was starting Hogwarts, I hc that he was very fidgety. Skining-picking habit, twitchy, not staying still, picking at his lip, and was physically all over the place. His friendship with Lucius can actually be pretty sweet. Severus cools out the longer he goes to Hogwarts.
#i cutting this short srry! i think i have too many thoughts!#i rlly do love him as a character but I also see where people dont#i feel strangely embarrassed my bad#im in the firm FIRM belief that any character can have some depth and I mean any#the snapes gang of the marauders are actually very impressive#“every character has potential in this fandom!!!!”#i say as I shake rabastan and rodolphus around#also thinking of deathnguts' mulciber#ivan gets the mail#severus snape#marauders era#🫀 tag

people who favor literally any adult in the hp fandom need to accept that all of them all have flaws and stop trying to scale things down or victim blame.
sirius- bullied snape and continues to do so as adults, saw harry as more of james than his own person AT TIMES. does that mean you can’t like him? NO. does that mean he’s a horrible disgusting human being? NO?? Did Sirius do A LOt of good in his life including giving his life to protect his godson and help towards defeating voldemort? YES does that mean he’s a person with flaws? YES. did “snape deserve to be bullied”? NO??😭
snape- bullied students, joined DEs, and called lily a slur. Are all of those things unacceptable? YES! Did he have good qualities, especially as he matured and left the DE and risk his life in order to protect his students ? YES. Does him having flaws mean you shouldn’t like him? NO. Does it make sense why a lot the bad things he did take place? YES. does it justify those? NO. Did he deserve to be bullied and ultimately lose his life in double service and spy work? NO???😭
Lupin- Pushed a lot of things under the rug, worked in a position where he risked children, and tried to excuse bullying because of their age, are any of these things acceptable? NO! was he a a generally good person, sacrifice his life and contribute a lot towards the order? YES. Does this erase the bad things he’s done? NO. Did he deserve to be outed in the maurderers era shrieking shack incident by his friends? NO????😭
Molly- She favorited specific kids of hers, didn’t support the twins dreams, and had a werid (misogynistic?) stigma towards hermione and flur? YES. But overall she was a good and loving mother that would end anyone in order to protect her children and their spouses? YES. Did she overcome the werid stigma towards hermione and fleur? YES. Do her bad calls cause her to be a horrible person? NO.
Minerva- Similar to snape she favored her own house, send kids to the forbidden forest, and treat neville unfairly? YES. Was she still a really good head of house who fought for her students? YES. Does her wrongdoings make her a bad person? NO.
Dumbledore- Did he purposely send harry to an abusive home, not do anything about it when there were clear signs, leave everyone in the dark, make snape strike a deal over the safety of HIS order members, risk many students safety like every year, abandon his family which resulted in death, raise harry to die and have him fight dangerous adults almost every year, ask snape to kill him, allow the most unqualified people ever to teach, ignore the shit out of a mentally unstable teenager, let sirius rot without fair trial nor even thinking twice about the possibility of his innocence, and probably even more we’ve yet to know about? YES. were all of these horrible? YEA💀 did he mean any of these with malicious intentions? NO. Did he do this for the creator good? YES. does that mean he was aware of the people he hurt? YES. do i like him? FUCK NO. does that mean other people are able to look past this and continue to like him? YES.
many ways to summarize like every and any adult in this franchise has done some shit but that doesn’t mean you can’t like the character.

okay, the reply feature isn’t working for some reason, so i’m gonna reply here, @gemblingcraft and @starlight-to-midnight
so y’all really don’t remember how homophobic the UK still was even after section 28 was overturned, huh? and how homophobic it still actually is cuz lesbians are still punished for being homosexual and not wanting to interact with dick? how even afterwards, publishers wouldn’t publish works about explicitly gay characters in children’s books? y’all have the memory of celery sticks.
and literally nowhere has Rowling said anything bad about trans people. but if y’all think that “sex matters” and “lesbians are homosexual females” and “women need female only spaces” are bad, then you’re just homophobic, misogynist idiots. not that i’m surprised anyway.
also, not sure how y’all don’t remember that it was pretty heavily implied that Dumbledore was in love with Grindelwald when they were young, cuz i remember reading that, and it was literally over a decade ago. like it was clearly implied that he had serious feelings towards Grindelwald, but after his sister had died, that changed. does no one remember the biography written about Dumbledore in the book?
#these two are morons but what else is new?#jk rowling#she literally said ‘i know and love trans people but women need single sex spaces’#if you think that’s transphobia then you’re just a misogynist dipshit#trans receipts#trans brain rot

Things that The Marauders fandom say that pisses me off
warning: i will not be holding back. if you are sensitive do not read. feel free to disagree or anything in the replies but don't be a dick
i'm only doing this cause i'm bored and have a lot of rage in me
also just to be clear if we're mutuals then i'm not on about you :)
"It's so sad that one of the only things we have in cannon is the prank"
or something along those lines. If knowing that the prank is cannon makes you upset then I have some great news for you. Nobody cared about the prank in cannon!!!! it's literally just another Tuesday for the Marauders and not once does anybody lose any friends or hold any grudges about it!! yay, now you can sleep at night!
"Dumbledore raised an army of children twice"
I've already spoken about this before but for anyone who wasn't here please know that this is a lie! Neither time did Dumbledore raise an army of children. You had to be an adult to join The Order and although the Marauders were young they were not children. As for everyone else, their ages are not confirmed. We are the ones who made Marlene and Dorcas the same age as them. For all we know The Marauder's could've been the youngest in the Order by far. As for the DA, Dumbledore literally had no part in that. It was Hermione, Harry and Ron who made the DA. All Dumbledore did was take the blame for it because they named themselves after him
"Dumbledore could've helped Regulus, Evan and Barty"
Firstly it amazes me how these three are the only Death Eaters yall have any sympathy for. I understand Regulus to a point considering we only really hear good things about him from Kreacher but with Evan and Barty genuinely what makes them so special?? Evan is in the exact same pool as Wilkes and y'all don't give a shit about them. Also Barty helped resurrect Voldemort and tortured Frank and Alice. Either way regardless on if you like them or not trust me when i say that if they would've gone to Dumbledore for help he would've helped them. When have we ever seen Dumbledore turn somebody down because they were a Slytherin. This man literally tried to help Draco as he was about to kill him and help the Death Eaters take over Hogwarts. Dumbledore doesn't know everything and he's never passed on the chance for a new spy.
"This fandom is misogynistic for making Lily/Tonks bad mothers/surrogates"
Fanfiction does not equal headcannons. Just because Lily or Tonks are bad mothers in a fanfiction does not mean that the author dislikes them or thinks that they're a bad person in cannon. Also reading about your favourite ship raise a child is a very common trope in fanfiction and as much as Harry and Teddy are Lily and Tonks children they are also James and Remus'. James and Remus are just as responsible for their children and I see nobody batting an eye when the roles are reversed. On top of all of this, Lily and Tonks were young mothers and it's very likely that they would make mistakes or in other universes not be as good as they were in cannon. That does not make them bad people nor does it make them unworthy of being liked. If you don't like it, don't read it cause i know that nobody is saying that Regulus and James raised Harry in cannon.
"Marlene/Dorcas/Mary/Evan is so underrated!"
No they're not. They're mentioned like once or twice. If anything they're incredibly overrated. Nothing wrong with that. Just facts
"Jily is dying out because people are scared to go against Jegulus"
Don't make me laugh. Jily is one of the only cannon ships we have they are literally the blueprint to the entire series. Jily is not dying out, you're just seeing more Jegulus posts because you keep interacting with them and fucking up your own algorithm in order to argue with people in comment sections
"[Insert ship here] need to stop hating on [Insert another ship here] (same with characters)"
I remember one time in the Riverdale fandom when a Bughead shipper did an interview with a magazine pretending to be Lili Reinheart and told this magazine that Bughead will be cannon just to piss the Barchie shippers off. Y'all would not survive "real" fandoms. Just because somebody doesn't like your ship does not make it hate and even if someone does say something like "Jily is trash and I hate it" so fucking what?? it's one person and trust me there is another room on the internet for the both of you. I don't even think I've seen anyone truly post hate about a ship since 2020 when i was in the instagram fandom and the Wolfstar and Blackinnon shippers had each other by the throat
"Jegulus came out of nowhere and I don't understand why people ship it"
Jegulus has been around for as long as i have (2018) and at least to me it's very obvious why people like it. It's the best friends brother, opposite sides of the war, secret relationship, forbidden romance tropes that people love. it's not that hard to understand. And as I said before we know just enough about Regulus to get some sense of what he was like but not all of the bad parts.
"Sirius was tall but Remus was TALL"
There's nothing necessarily wrong with this. I just hate it. Especially if you're commenting on somebody's post about how Sirius is canonically tall. Half the time, unless they say it themselves, they don't think that Remus is taller and don't care if you do
that's all i've got for now. i may do this again :)

Intro Post
Hello! Welcome to my blog
Some Stuff about me:
I go by the names Oli and Miles(and also Leander sometimes but shhh)
I use they/them pronouns
I’m greyromantic and acespec
Here’s the Link to My Pinterest: https://pin.it/7qGXe5ySM
(I have a general HP board, a Marauders Era Board, a Black sister’s time at school/Hogwarts during the ‘60s board, Character Boards for Sirius, Lily, Harry, Ron, and Hermione, and a general Black family board for members older than the Black sisters. Also boards for other fandoms but I don’t think my followers would be too interested in those.)
I also have sideblogs
@mostly-minecraft-zvahl is where I put most of my non-fandom posts and non-Harry Potter fandom posts. The main fandom I am in there is Aphmau(as evidenced by the name) but I reblog a lot of other fandoms too
@my-tears-ricochet5 for (mostly Taylor Swift themed)music posting
I’m fine with both Pro- and Anti shippers interacting with my blogs
My original posts are all tagged #og and I mostly post about Harry Potter(Anti JKR)(I am literally transgender). I will sometimes reblog posts from other fandoms
My art is tagged #my art, obviously
I have a cat named Gracie and she is a silly goober, you may see photos of her on here tagged #gracie the cat
Heres the link to my Ao3
The only WIP I’m currently trying to update is Time Rewound, a next gen time travels to Grimmauld Place fic(there is Scorbus but it’s minor)
I mostly write ficlets/microfics about Sirius Black
less important stuff(my main ships and fandom opinions, and my userboxes) under the cut
A little bit about my fandom opinions and ships
Sirius is my favorite character
I’m a stan of Albus Dumbledore
I am a big fan of the seven books(I do in fact love HP canon), but I’m not a canon purist who thinks you shouldn’t HC characters as queer, or that femme/not a cis man Sirius is always bio-essentialist, or that it’s inherently misogynistic to prefer an m/m ship over an m/f ship
I’m a chronic multishipper, but I mostly post and write about Prongsfoot
I also ship Remadora and pretty much all of the canon ships as well
I hate adult Snape(I find him annoying) but acknowledge that he redeemed himself, and I’m chill with child/teenage Snape
I’m not really a fan of the popular Marauders fanon
I’m also Regulus critical and an Evan Rosier hater(UPDATE: I FUCKING HATE ROSEKILLER PLEASE DO NOT TALK ABOUT IT ON MY POSTS)
Peter Pettigrew is my babygirl✨🐀
I think the Marauders were bullies but I love them anyway
I prefer Evans sisters angst over Black brothers angst
Ron is my favorite Weasley
I’m a Percy apologist
I think Hermione was done dirty by the later books in the series, and not because she ended up with Ron
I love Harry whump
Okay we’re done
Goodbye, thanks for reading

omg, andromeda and ginny, parvati and harry, peter and lily, petunia and james (humor me)
waaaait i love these!
andromeda and ginny (@saintsenara also asked about andromeda and harry so answering that one here too): poor andromeda. your beloved husband, treasured daughter and the son-in-law you tolerate all die, and then you get (1) seventeen year old trying to do up godparent with his gobby girlfriend in tow. nightmare. in this is what andromeda imagined teddy would be up to each time harry and ginny babysat:
i reckon it takes andromeda a long time to properly warm up to and trust harry and ginny after the war. harry, she understands, has at least some claim to being involved in teddy's life as godfather that she honours even if she doesn't like it: ginny's just an add-on to that. i do tend to like the idea of andromeda as someone who left her family and married for love but who is still marked by her aristocratic origins, who retains a kind of protective conservativism and sense of propriety that makes her a bit sceptical of this guardianship arrangement of 'grandmother plus teenage godson plus his girlfriend apparently'. i think it gets a bit easier with time, though as teddy gets older, i can imagine harry still being quite deferential to andromeda's wishes while ginny's the one to lightly challenge andromeda's authority a bit more and taking a more liberal approach as a guardian to teddy. i can imagine them falling out over ginny buying teddy some booze or to taking him to get a piercing or tattoo or something. (andromeda was born in the mid-fifties, after all). this conflict with ginny reminds andromeda, painfully, of her clashes with dora all those years ago, which just makes it all that bit worse.
parvati and harry: yung parvati definitely fancied harry. and you know what? i maintain that yung harry thought parvati was quite fit too (he's into hair and he stares at hers a bit. i rest my case). i also maintain that the only reason yung harry didn't fancy parvati more is because she giggled too much and he can be such a sourpuss. and as a paid up member of the campaign to let girls giggle (CLGG) i say: justice for patil!
peter and lily: to me, peter was exactly the kind of misogynist dweeb that male friendship groups often pick up early and let slosh around within their ranks for far too long past their expiration date. (you know what i mean! there's so often that one guy! and he sucks! and they're like yeah but he's been here too long there's no getting rid! and then he ignores you when you go with them to the pub! fuck that guy!) i don't think peter and lily were ever close - i'm always struck how in her letter to sirius, lily talks about peter's visit in the context of her trying to have his friends visit to cheer him up, rather than out of her own affection for him ('James is getting a bit frustrated shut up here, he tries not to show it but I can tell — also, Dumbledore’s still got his Invisibility Cloak, so no chance of little excursions. If you could visit, it would cheer him up so much. Wormy was here last weekend, I thought he seemed down, but that was probably the news about the McKinnons...') i tend to subscribe to the view of the marauders that is sirius, peter and, to a lesser but still real extent, remus, all orbiting james, and lily being closest with sirius of those four by virtue of him being james' best mate, but never really being one of the four of them herself, and definitely being least close with peter out of all of them. i don't think lily distrusted peter, but i think the secret-keeper switch shouldn't be taken as sign of great warmth and affection.
petunia and james: james, obviously, thought petunia was a fucking nightmare. petunia, obviously, thought james was a spoiled layabout wastrel of the highest order. she did however get a wee look at lily and james' wedding pictures despite herself and think sirius was really fit. just because she's a dickhead but that doesn't mean she can't have taste!
thanks anon!
#sirius black: so sexy even the bigots are on board#it's canon sorry!#ask game#petunia dursley#andromeda tonks#parvati patil#peter pettigrew

My nephew and I were trashing JK Rowling the other day.
It happens when you're sitting in traffic.
See, he's almost 20, and I'm almost 45, both having read the books as young adults then again with an older mindset.
But still, even as young adults, we realized some things.
Like how fucking manipulative Dumbledore was. He was the Chessmaster and everyone else were his pawns. How he didn't help with anything, like not telling Harry about Horcruxes and leaving the Golden Trio hanging after he died. He was not a good person, and didn't care who got killed. How if he knew about Draco, why didn't he offer help to him earlier? And allowing Snape to teach Harry occulemncy. Raise your hand if you thought that was gonna end well.
And constantly sending Harry back to a family that was abusing him. WTF.
How misogynistic the Pureblood society is, and now you know why. Cuz the author opened her stupid mouth and let her horrible, racist opinions fly.
How she killed off beloved characters for shock value, not to further the plot. Like how she said she had to kill Fred because she had let Arthur live, so a Weasley had to go. She could have killed off Percy or Charlie if she was just making a trade.
And you're telling me that Remus Motherfucking Lupin, one of the best duelists in the HP franchise, got himself killed? Puhleeze....dude was a stone cold fighter. Same with Sirius. What a pitiful death.
These are the ramblings of a person who hasn't slept in four days thanks to no pain meds, so I'm quite loopy.
But are we wrong though?? My nephew also hated the couples that ended up together. And I agreed with him. Harry and Ginny had absolutely no chemistry with one another. He would have been better off with Luna. They would have been awesome together.
Same goes for Hermione and Ron. Ron is such a walking red flag. Insecure, jealous, prone to angry outbursts. Not very loyal (see dropping Harry during the Triwizard tournament and leaving their asses in the middle of the forest). Who else she could have ended up with, I couldn't say. As much as I love Dramione, I know they didn't have enough contact in the books to make that a choice. Fuck, let her have Viktor. Dude knew how to treat her and saw her for who she was. He didn't make fun of her for being a swot or anything like that. Accepted Hermione as is.
Ugh, I need sleep. My chainsmoking ass is sitting outside in 86 degree weather at 630 in the morning. Only time the day is bearable until it hits 100 by 10 am. Fucking Texas.
Comment and let me know if my nephew and I are the only ones who see how fucked up the books are. We are not denying their brilliance, or uniqueness. But the characters and the horrible, racist world she created.

I have had this in my notes forever, and since I’m not sure if I’ll ever turn this into a fanfic, I thought I’d post it here.
A lot of this is my own version of canon, but it’s also partly inspired by wonderful accounts such as @halfblood-princes-crown, @moonlightdancer26 and more.
Hope you enjoy!
Severus Snape’s Death Eater Journey
-Eileen married Tobias because she was the eldest of her siblings and thus the "heir" and hated it
-she was in Gryffindor (hat stall, almost in Slytherin)
-Tobias was a misogynistic wife-beater and child abuser
-he hated magic
-he didn’t like feeling his wife was superior to him
-he beat his wife to "get the magic out of her" and when that didn’t work, he did the same to his son
-Severus started to resent T when he was about 5
-his first bit of magic showed during a time when he was defending himself against his father
-he started thinking "are all muggles this bad?", but slightly changed that view whenever he spoke to his muggle neighbours and the Evans family
-Sev is excited to go to Hogwarts as he thinks he can finally escape his family’s tormenting
-he latches onto Lily as she’s A) magical (and thus, an "outsider" like him) and B) a complete contrast to everything he had ever known
-encounter in the train 01.09.1971
-at first, he brushes it off
-Lily being Sorted into Gryffindor upsets him mainly because it reminds him of his miserable home life (Gryffindor as a symbol of badness)
-first week of school, J&S play a prank on Sev
-they find his reaction funny, play some more pranks on him during the next few months and decide to make him their main target
-part of J&S detentions are the result of Sev telling prefect Lucius (this in turn contributes to their hatred of Sev and Slytherin)
-the pranks are physically harmless at first, "just" humiliating
-Sev throws himself into his studies, becoming a very skilled wizard
-in year 2/3, the "pranks" become more and more physically violent
-in year 4, Sev accidentally hexes an OC as he believes them to be one of the marauders (he just saw someone coming in his direction from the corner of his eye)
-he apologises and takes the OC to the hospital wing
-the only people that somewhat listen to him when it comes to the M are Slytherins
-he is not close to any of them though
-he starts hanging out with Avery and Mulciber
-he’s happy to be somewhat included, so he doesn’t openly criticise their anti-muggleborn views
-despite his friendship with Lily, Sev associates the Light™️ with his oppressors
-he begins to learn more about the Dark Arts to fight back (he focuses on the opposite of what his bullies stand for)
-he hears slurs in his common room all the time and often they refer to his bullies (which is largely why he calls Lily that)
-he never says the slur out loud, only in his head/under his breath
-one time Sev and Mulciber bitch about the Gryffindors/his bullies in particular and Sev calls Remus + Peter the slur under his breath (he wants to get back at them for all the pain they’ve caused him by supporting J&S)
-Sev says he dislikes an OC as much as the M, which leads to people believing he calls everyone of Lily’s birth the slur
-January 1976 Werewolf Incident
-February 1976 Mulciber tries doing something to Mary MacDonald ("They don’t use Dark Magic though.")
-Sev's anger and bitterness increases as Dumbledore forces him to keep quiet about the WI
-May/June 1976 Lake Incident (+ failed apology)
-Sev comes home that summer to find out his father had (accidentally) killed his mother ("She fell down the stairs.")
-the summer holidays are awful as A) Sev misses his mum and B) his father now takes all his anger out on him
-he spends as much time outside as possible
-he spends some time on the playground where he first saw Lily
-he writes her a letter, delivers it personally, and Lily’s parents promise to give it to her (she never responds)
-year 6 is the worst bullying ever, as J&S A) realise Sev no longer has Lily’s support and B) Sirius’s disowning fuelled their anger at Slytherins
-Lily pointedly ignores him
-Sev's only safe haven is the Dark Arts, but he is also hesitant as this is what drove Lily (=the Light) away
-due to the increased bullying that year, Sev ends up in the hospital wing every other week
-summer 1977 is when he starts getting caught in the loop of "I want power to protect myself from my pain (J&S, Gryffindor, everything they represent)" and "but I don’t want to commit evil acts (Cruciatus Curse etc)"
-through spies at Hogwarts (Lucius?) Voldemort finds out about a skilled and vulnerable Sev and starts preying on him
-he is on the fence, but when he finds out Lily is dating James (his tormentor) in 1978, that tips him over the edge
-his motivation for joining the DE is revenge for the pain the light side caused him (the M bullying, Dumbledore covering it all up, Lily "betraying" him by joining his tormentors), gaining power to protect himself against future attacks, and to protect Lily from "their clutches"
-he comes home that summer to find out his father died in a car accident (he was driving while drunk), so he owns the Spinner’s End house
-he receives the Dark Mark a few months after graduation September 1978
-Voldemort instructs Sev to use his home to make potions for the DE
-he occasionally takes part in battles, but during his first year, his main job is brewing potions
-while spending so much time at home, he goes through his old belongings and discovers things from his friendship with Lily
-guilt starts to manifest, but the DE are the first people who value him and his skills and don’t make fun of him, so he ignores their pure-blood ideology even though he doesn’t believe in it himself
-in 1979/1980 Voldemort starts using Sev as a spy as he recognises his talent for it during previous battles
-15.05.1980 the Prophecy
-August 1980 Voldemort decides to go after the Potters and guilt hits Sev in the face so hard he can barely breathe
-"well, I don’t care about Potter, but I can’t leave Lily dead or unhappy"
-asking Voldemort to spare her (had he asked for the whole family, it would have been suspicious)
-asking Dumbledore to spare all ("Anything.")
-starts teaching at Hogwarts (V believes it is to spy on D but it’s actually the opposite)
-Halloween 1981
-guilt and grief times ♾
-"Always."

I'm still not over the fact that Pterry had Rincewind come out as gay in an old forum post (thanks @mystmoon) to take the piss out of Joanne's desperate hype chasing long before it was cool, but that he actually made Rincewind much better gay rep than Dumbledore could ever hope to be
Dumbledore: Fell in love with a genocidal maniac and lived in celibacy ever since.
Rincewind: Not only never fell in love with a murderer, but has canonically fucked multiple times (and presumably fucked men)
Dumbledore: Owns a school run on slave labour
Rincewind: Tries his best not to be racist or speciesist
Dumbledore: Manipulated school children to fight against an evil wizard, knowingly sending at least one boy to his death without hesitation
Rincewind: Defeated the most powerful magic user in his world with a half brick in a sock
Dumbledore: Enabled blatant and open child abuse at his school
Rincewind: Was willing to sacrifice his own life to save an abused child from unspeakable horrors
Dumbledore: Died
Rincewind: May be immortal due to a celestial admin error
Dumbledore: Written by a vocal transphobe, racist and misogynist
Rincewind: Written by a man who understood that it's always morally correct to threaten transmisogynists with a siege weapon. Is himself cluelessly supportive.
This isn't even a competition any more. Rincewind is the best gay wizard as declared by word of god, it's just a fact.
#rincewind#and for tag filtering purposes#harry potter#jkr#and if it shows up in the main tags ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ what do I care if I annoy a few more bigots by being correct

Jegulus fans are the most delusional crack shippers i have ever seen. Yes, Dumbledore has done bad things, but he did not get in the way of James and Regulus completely fanon relationship and rub salt on the wound by having Harry steal the necklace.
and they weirdly misogynist towards Lily Evans.
" Lily is bad because James had to change for her, Regulus accepted James for who he is " they say
Also, why are they comparing Jegulus to jayvik or any other popular ships? Other pairings can't be Jegulus variants because Regulus and James have no relationship in Canon.
jegulus shippers thinking dumbledore gave a fuckk about these two sixteen yos is so funny 😭 he had a war to win i can assure them that he was not losing his mind thinking abt them.. yes omg jegulus=jayvik made me want to not watch arcane (only watching it bc vi is so hot <33)

"JKR was always terrible!" "HP ((a series written in the late 90s and early 2000s)) was always problematic ((by today's standards))!" "JKR was always secretly a racist misogynist!"
JKR is a very real example of how even a progressive ally can fail to check biases and instead be brainwashed by bigotry. More than that, JKR is a tragic example of what idolizing someone as an unfalliable progressive icon can do to someone when they (inevitably) get high on their platform and do something problematic ((the shoehorned gay Dumbledore controversy being the start, imo.))
By hooting and hollering about how she was secretly horrible all along (when she used tropes that were extremely prevalent in early 2000s media), you are distancing yourselves and believing yourselves imperviable to the same fate. That is a major mistake.
Everyone, no matter how progressive they start out, is capable of fucking up and/or getting brainwashed by propaganda. Everyone has unintentional biases they have to unlearn - failing to do so, to their own detriment.
JKR should be a cautionary tale. Not a gotcha! We unmasked you as evil all along!
The fact that so many people miss the point of this makes me very worried about the current strength and direction of progressive social movements.
EDIT: Anyone using this argument to support Hogwarts Legacy or any of JKR's current bullshit will get blocked. This is intended as a learning point that this sort of thing doesn't happen again. I fully support the boycott.
#jkr#jkr discourse#anti jkr#harry potter#hogwarts legacy#honest to god i predicted this#the second people started attacking jkr for little shit#i was like y'all#she's gonna get defensive dig her heels in and get worse#then look what happened#i swear to god purity politics will be the death of the progressive movement#y'all don't know how to fucking chill about imperfections#or recognize your own capability and culpability
