DUI Speeding Drunk Driver Arrested For Long Island Nail Salon Crash That Killed 4, Causing Injuries To At Least Nine People – New York City reporting
Steven Schwally was arrested after the Friday crash on Grand Boulevard in Deer Park, the 64-year-old driver was speeding when he slammed into the Hawaii Nail & Spa around 4:30 p.m.
The minivan went through the front of the beauty business and nearly came out the other side of it, a fire official said, indicating its high speed.
Witnesses said the vehicle raced through a parking lot across the street, seemingly in a rush to get out of there. The driver then went around another car that was stopped at a traffic light, and as the van was trying to turn onto Grand Boulevard, it flew right into the salon.

Does your activism and positivity include drunk drivers?
this is probably a hate anon but im going to dignify it with a response anyway. because yes, it does.
disclaimer: i am not saying drunk drivers bare no responsibility for their actions. they do, as we all do. part of why we (all people) are responsible for our actions is bc we have awareness of them. we can make choices. and when our capacity for choice and awareness is diminished (i.e, when we are mentally disabled), our responsibility is too. note that i say diminished, not gone. that's important.
anyway. i know people with DUIs and they have grown into much safer, happier people. people can change, and addicts (disabled people) need support to make that change. disability (human) rights cannot depend on someone's morality. they wouldn't be rights otherwise. they'd be privileges... and we all know turning rights into privileges leads to oppressions.

《Backstory》
TWs: child abuse, death, car accident, drunken driving, unethical experimentation, human experimentation, alcoholism, war, medical malpractice
.
.
.
.
.
Simon Harrington grew up in an abusive household, where his father was an alcoholic and constantly beat Simon. Simon was left half dead most days, left to tend to himself before he bled out. One day, his father brought home another child named Emerick. He didn't have time to get to know his brother, and was soon forced to kill him with his bare hands.
Since then, Simon was never the same. He was punished with gashes over the smallest things and never even flinched. Soon, his father killed his mother in a drunken rage, and he decided to run. Being in the middle of a war, he had to flee to Retuiryn for safety. He was nearly killed, having to be smuggled out by a kind citizen.
Simon went from home to home, eventually finding one caring enough to keep him safe. From there he went to college to become a doctor, wanting to help people in the ways he was never allowed. In his college years, he met Dianne Calim, a single mother who stole his heart. The two fell in love and eloped shortly after graduation, and worked in the same hospital afterwards.
When they had their first son, Simon named him after the brother he never knew. Emerick. They then had Daniel, and Omen, and were going to have another. While heavily pregnant and nearing the due date, Dianne was invited to her sister's wedding. Not wanting to miss it, she brought the family with her.
But Simon, like his father, was an alcoholic, and couldn't resist the champagne. He became inebriated quickly, and just as he was thoroughly drunk, the baby was ready to be born. Simon tried rushing Dianne to the hospital, leaving their kids with her sister and telling everyone he was fine enough to drive.
He wasn't.
Simon ended up swerving right off of a bridge.
He awoke at the crash site, thrown out of his car with his arm and leg so mangled they were unsalvageable. He had crashed into the tomb of a dead god known as Equilibrium. Seeing his wife's body, the anguish in his heart was so powerful it revived the god. The god offered him a deal, giving him the power to make armies and live forever. Even the power to bring back the dead, if he promised to conquer the world in the name of the god.
Desperate, he accepted this offer, and blacked out.
He woke up again in a hospital, told that his wife was gone, but they managed to save the unborn child. With his newfound power, he single handedly founded the G-MAC Facilities by creating failed experiments and needing a place to contain them. Going mad with power and desperation, he began to abuse his children by turning them into experiments as well.
Emerick had the worst of it, being torn apart and put back together again. Daniel perished from the intensity, Omen gained new abilities, and Nathan - his youngest - was locked in a room where he was monitored by Jacob Williams.
During this time, Simon tried to fill the void in his chest left by the death of his wife, and began to manipulate his employees into relationships. He had Percival with Cody Greene, an employee that was only twenty at the time. Delmira was a failed clone of Dianne, and given to Hestien Nevysa. Olivia and Ryan were twins, though another failed experiment and remained by Simon as they proved to be useful. Odell and Elwood were another set of twins, both born from an unknown partner. Odell remained locked in captivity while Elwood became a researcher in the facilities.
As Simon grew in power, he married Jacob for the benefits and used him easily. Jacob soon turned on Simon, shooting him until the gun ran out of ammunition. While Simon was sent to the void, Jacob found a way to lock him in there.
Every day in the outside world was a year in the void. Simon spent almost two thousand years in absolute nothingness.
By a pure miracle, Simon somehow was freed, and found himself in the home of June Hatfield. Only roughly five years had passed in the outside world, and June recognized the man who nearly destroyed the world. Realizing he had forgotten everything, she gave him a second chance and renamed him to Raymond.
As Raymond, Simon started to live a life of happiness, unaware as to what he had done only five years in the past.

> After hitting the woman, the driver also struck multiple gates and caused damage to homes before taking off.
The driver was initially able to get away, but he was found after Anaheim police officers received a call about a suspicious person at a church on the 1400 block of La Palma Avenue, McClintock said. After talking to him, the officers determined he was the driver from the deadly crash.
The man, whom police did not name, was booked into jail on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence, hit-and-run resulting in injury or death, driving under the influence causing bodily injury, auto theft and possession of a stolen vehicle.

“Car Wreck Leads To Court Charges,” Kingston Whig-Standard. April 8, 1932. Page 2. ---- Kenneth Anson Arrested on Four Counts — Pleaded Guilty to Two --- After the Kingston Police found a wrecked automobile near the comer of King and Collingwood streets last night about 11.15 o'clock, they arrested Kenneth Anson, a young man living on Rideau street. In the Police Court this morning, four charges were preferred against Anson, that of being intoxicated; operating a car without a permit; driving a car while intoxicated; and with taking a motor car without the consent of the owner. The accused pleaded "not guilty” to the charge of being Intoxicated. He pleaded guilty to the charge of driving a car without permit but told the Magistrate that he had intended to have his permit renewed this afternoon. His delay In having the permit renewed was due to the fact that he had to wait for his pay. On that charge, he was fined $19 and costs with the option of fifteen days in jail. The accused pleaded "not guilty" to the charge of operating a car while intoxicated.
"I understand that you want some person to represent you,” said the Magistrate to the accused.
"I do not think it to be necessary,” said Anson.
"On this charge you will be remanded until Monday," said the Magistrate,
Anson pleaded guilty to the final charge against him, that of driving a car without the consent of the owner and on this charge he was also remanded until Monday.
Anson was placed under arrest near the scene of the wrecked car by Constable William McKee. It was found later that the car was the property of Philip Addis, who resides on Patrick street. Addis came to the police station prior to the opening of the court cession and signed an information charging Anson with taking the car without his permission.
It was estimated that damage amounting to $50 or more was done to the car. Two wheels were broken off, while other parts of the car also suffered damage. The car bears the licence number LN-841. The auto, after hitting the curb, went up on to a boulevard on the south side of the street.
Charges Withdrawn The stage was all set to hear evidence in the case of three young men, charged with assault, following a row at a dance held In the Orange Hall on Tuesday night but it was announced that the charges had been withdrawn. The three young men agreed to pay the damages and publicly apologise to the organisation which was holding the dance which they disturbed.
