Curry leaves are the curry tree's foliage (Murraya koenigii). This tree is endemic to Sri Lanka, and its leaves have medicinal and culinary uses. They have a distinct taste with citrus undertones and are quite fragrant. Curry leaves are not the same as curry powder, even though they are frequently added to this famous spice mixture and used in cooking to flavor meals such as curries, rice dishes, and dals. Aside from being a diverse culinary herb, they also provide several health advantages due to the potent plant chemicals they contain.

Chitranna/ Lemon Rice/ Lime Rice There are as many variations to the recipe as the people eating this warm bowl of deliciousness 🤤 My version is whole food plant based and has no oil ❌ We need, Mustard Seeds - 1 teaspoon Curry Leaves - 8 to 10 Red Chillies, dried - 1 to 2, broken Peanuts, roasted- 1/4 cup Turmeric - 1 teaspoon Lemon Juice, of course - 2 tablespoons Cooked Rice - 2 cups To make, Roast all the mustard seeds in a deep stoneware pot. Add in the curry leaves, peanuts & red chillies. Add the lemon juice & turmeric. Gently stir in the rice to mix well.
