AAAAAAAAA
Sorry was that loud? I'm just crying over THIS GODDAMN FUCKING BLOCK GAME
Okay okay, thoughts. As a discduo enjoyer and drunz enjoyer, this stream hurts me in so many ways. I audibly cursed at the screen afterwards.
I'm so happy with this ending because the dsmp as it was before was a sinking ship well beyond saving so this was honestly the best outcome. Tommy got closure, he got the answers to his questions. Also Dream saying, "Everything I love" and then looking to Punz. I LOVE DRUNZ SO MUCH. But...I also think it's like a season 3 of infinity train all over again. Where Dream created a vision of gods and immortality and Punz got wrapped up into it and believed in it more than Dream ever did, so when Dream started doubting, it made Punz defensive since he was the one who proposed the vision that they've worked so hard to achieve in the first place. But Punz getting defensive over implications that he wasn't Dream's friend and silent when Dream started talking. ALL I COULD THINK ABOUT WAS THE NUKE AND I ALMOST CRIED. THE SERVER IS RESET. DRUNZ IS GONE.
DISCDUO WINS?????
This is the most confused I've ever been, I have so many emotions. Dream was finally listened to. "I thought you were the villain." "Because I have- Because I am." Broke me. AGAIN DRUNZ IS GONE IM DISTRAUGHT. Tommy and Dream resetting and-and
Gonna cry again bye. I love lore and silly block men

Ok ok so the entirety of no children does not fit c!dream and c!tommy bc ultimately it’s a relationship that’s fucked on both ends and that’s not what c!tommy and c!dream have, it’s very one sided abuse
But
“I hope you die, I hope we both die” fits the prison scene so perfectly imo
Obvi in the og song the line is abt how they’re both bad for eachother and both have extreme hatred for the other and also hatred of themselves bc of the way they feed off of each others negativity to be worse ppl but in the context of c!discduo it’s just this intensely sad moment of a child and his abuser and him wanting that person dead but also wanting himself dead bc he’s suicidal and doesn’t see a future for himself beyond being a soldier and once c!dream is dead he has no reason to keep fighting

okay these are still just my first thoughts but. omg that was such an experience. i am. oh my god. im actually really happy with how that went like, it crushed my heart but in a good way? i like the tragedy of the nukes and the fact that maybe, just maybe, they'd reached a point where MAYBE they could've changed something, maybe things could've gotten better without anymore destruction, and then they had that ripped away from them. i think that works well-- it provides the server reset they wanted for season 2, but also doesn't undermine the narrative saying that they could've probably fixed things and built something better WITHOUT the nukes destroying everything. ngl im really excited to see the fix-it fics that come from this. honestly i think the only complaint i have is the apparent memory loss season 2 brings, i understand it from a creative perspective but well. I WANT TO SEE THE SERVER HAVE TO SIT DOWN AND WORK THROUGH IT ALL. I WANT TO SEE THEM GRAPPLE WITH THE HORRIBLE THINGS THAT HAPPENED AND HOW FAR THEY (cough cough cdream) FELL AND THE HORRIFIC THINGS THEY DID AND HOW DIFFICULT GROWING FROM THAT KIND OF THING IS. but i understand how hard that would be to portray in a mcrp and why they wouldn't want to do it, so basically im just really excited for those fix it fics lol

Don’t think about Punz standing by the side as Dream slowly starts to crumble
Don’t think about Punz defending his title as friend, offended that after everything he would be doubted
Don’t think about Punz hearing that alarm, knowing damn well that the nukes exists, and possibly realizing what’s going on
Don’t think about Punz grabbing ahold of Dream and scrambling to get out of there, as that annoying pest tells them it’s too late
Don’t think about Punz throwing himself at Dream in their last seconds, attempting to cover him from the blast
Don’t think about the two dying in each other’s arms, after finally finding the reason to live within each other
Just don’t think about it

“Phil,” Kristin said gently, “we have to do this”
He was still in awe of seeing her. Seeing her like this, in a physical body, so small, so fragile. But this was Her. He could see it when he looked into Her eyes. They held the knowledge of the starts in them. He would always trust Her. He knew she was right.
She tugged down on her hat, “it’s going to be okay.” He had to smile a bit, watching the black veil fall over Her face. Of course She managed to still keep Her hat and all its decorations intact, even in this form. She stepped forward, and was swallowed by the vortex of stars.
Peering over the edge, Phil couldn’t help but think the portal looked a lot like Her eyes. At first you think it’s an empty void, but if you look closer, there’s more to it than that. It’s not black, but a deep purple. There isn’t nothingness, but actually small pinpricks of light. Looking into the portal was comforting, in a way.
But even still, he edged back from the vortex. She said they didn’t have a lot of time, and he knew that. He knew She wouldn’t have come here unless it was absolutely necessary. But he wanted to hold back, to delay, to put this off a little longer.
He wanted to hope.
Techno had been gone on this most recent trip of his for months now. And Phil didn’t mind! He tried not to. He missed him, sure. And some days he missed him so bad it hurt. Like an ache in his chest that wouldn’t go away. But it was manageable, because Techno always came back.
Except apparently they were out of time. Something big was coming, something that even She couldn’t protect them from. And maybe Techno already caught wind of it. He’s smart, he’s resourceful. Knowing him, perhaps he heard about it and already started planning. Maybe even sent a note that Phil simply hadn’t received yet.
Phil knew this, he knew his friend. But that didn’t stop him from worrying. He just wanted to know. Just wanted confirmation that Techno was safe. It was selfish of him, he knew, but he desperately wanted to leave a few of his crows behind. So that if Techno came back, they could warn him. Tell him to get out fast.
A few of the crows in question landed on his shoulders and the brim of his hat. They chattered and cooed softly. One of them nibbled on his ear. He brought a finger up to stroke their feathers, not having the heart to reprimand them. He knew this was chats way of comforting him. And it’s not like Phil doesn’t always send crows after Techno, just in case. If something was wrong, one of them would return.
Alas, Phil supposed he had spent enough time stalling. He spared one last glance around the room. There had been a lot of good memories here. Ones he would hold onto for the rest of time. What he wouldn’t give for all of them to be gathered at this table, one last time.
Phil took a deep breath. He had kept them waiting long enough. He closed his eyes, taking a step forward, bracing himself for the free-fall.
Only to jerk back at the sound of a blessedly familiar baritone, “and where do you think you’re going, old man?”
“Techno!” Phil whirled around, his breath catching in his throat at the sight of his longtime friend. He rushed forward, barreling into the piglin and and burying his face into his fur.
“Mate it’s so good to see you,” Phil choked out, trying to shove down the lump in his throat, “I was afraid you weren’t going to make it in time”
Techno hummed, a deep rumble in his chest, “well, the voices were gettin’ pretty loud about some world ending even I had to get back for. They seemed pretty excited about it, so I decided to head back”
Phil laughed, pulling back slightly, “it’s a good thing you’re here. Kristin showed up. Here, at the server. Something big is coming, mate. Something She can’t even protect us from. We have to get out of here.”
“Come on then, old man. It’d be pretty cringe if we didn’t get out in time on account of your sentimentality,” Techno chuffed
Phil squawked, heading back to the table, “oí, sorry I was happy to see you, you brute. It’s your fault for leaving so long”
Techno stepped up to the edge with him, “hmm. Perhaps you have a point. We can talk about it after we survive our third apocalypse.”
Phil chuckled despite himself, peering over the edge again, “come on now Techno, I was really worried you weren’t gonna make it back in time”
Techno looked into the portal, narrowing his eyes a bit, “you won’t be getting rid of me that easily.”
“Besides,” Techno shifted, glancing over at him, “I promised you the world, Philza,” he continued, extending his hand, “I intend to make good on that promise”
“Well mate,” Phil chuckled, gladly taking it in his own, “to hell and back, then”
And they stepped through the portal together

As an addendum in reference to the whole ‘villain’ thing, c!Tommy views his life as a story.
Not in the sense that it’s not real, but in the sense that that’s how he processes it. I know some people say it’s because that’s how c!Wilbur viewed the world and i certainly think that’s where he learned it, however I think that the reason why c!Tommy uses it is because it almost justifies what he’s gone through? If he’s the main character, OF COURSE bad things happen to him! That’s what happens to main characters! They struggle but ultimately get through whatever’s put in their way! If he’s the main character, then it allows everything he’s gone through to have a purpose. If he’s the main character then it means that he’s important, that he has a reason to live.
As such, he needs a villain, and c!dream steps up to that role with gusto. Through him seeing that c!Dream is Just Some Guy Who Is A Piece of Shit, it allows for him to look beyond the labels he’s applied to those around him. No longer is he the Hero and c!Dream the Villain, the two of them doomed to perform their roles as intended. He now knows that c!Dream was not made that way by fault of birth or by cruel circumstances. This isn’t a Villain Redemption Film, where a magical justification for the villain’s actions is revealed or a Bigger Badder Villain was pulling the strings all along.
Now he gets to be a hurt child, a victim. His suffering was borne of pointless cruelty. He was forced to be a soldier, and c!Dream chose to kill him because he wanted to. He was forced to be a victim, and he was abused and manipulated because c!Dream wanted to. He was killed and revived because c!Dream wanted him to be. They were not playing out roles, they were real people with real lives.
c!Tommy was hurt because c!Dream chose to hurt him, not because c!Dream is a villain, and that is where the potential in the limbo sequence lay.
DreamSMP lore spoilers and discussion! This will be talking about c!Tommy and c!Dream, specifically their final moments in the prison in the finale stream. This will talk about child abuse, so pls be warned, keep urself safe <3 and it is c!Dream critical.
Ok I’m not very happy w the way that c!Tommy’s lore ended up panning out. (Not getting into that apology bc i wanna see if cc!Tommy is gonna say anything on that first. I personally am thinking that c!Tommy saying “I’m sorry” was intended in a diff way than it came across.)
I think that there were some very good elements in this lore (hopefully if I get some time soon I’ll be making some art based on those good elements) but the one I wanna talk abt rn is c!Tommy’s limbo sequence.
I’m gonna say, I really liked c!Dream being humanised there. I am genuinely really happy he was turned into something other than just a villain in c!Tommy’s eyes, even if the execution was a little clunky. I can’t help but feel let down though by the extreme nothing they do with this character revelation (obviously they didn’t have much time left after that but still! There could’ve been some confrontation!). I think that c!Dream should be humanised, not because he deserves redemption or deserves c!Tommy to empathise with or forgive him, but rather because I think it makes him so much worse.
Because c!Dream should not be mythologised into a Villain With A Capital Vee. He is just a man. He is just a human being. He’s a human being with a lot of cruelty and a magic book. And I think that in this context seeing that c!Dream was once happy and kind and good is important bc it shows that he was not made that way, he was not ‘forced’ to be a villain.
(Yes, there was a war and yes, c!Tommy burned down a house that one time but c!Dream’s response was wildly disproportionate to those actions, and thus I do not think he was forced into abusing c!Tommy in exile bc he clearly and obviously chose to do that of his own volition.)
He very actively and deliberately chose to hurt those around him bc he WANTED to. And he didn’t have a tragic story that pushed him over the edge! He was happy at the beginning of the server and then he became cruel. There is no plot twist backstory that paints him into shades of grey or justifies what he did. He was a man who was happy and lived a good life and made the active decision to be cruel anyway.
And for that, I think the limbo sequence was good. Sadly it wasn’t utilised as such and rather just seems as canon fodder for those who wish to defend c!Dream’s actions as if he did not abuse a child for months on end.
Thank u for coming to my TEDtalk, I have very mixed feelings abt this finale 😇🙏

Did you guys hear that c!Mumza canonically managed to save the souls of the Triple Ts when the nuke went off? She brought c!Tommy and c!Tubbo to meet c!Ranboo and Michael B in the nether-looking area and c!Jack to the End to meet the remaining Syndicate members. They can travel between the realms at any time ofc.

Dsmp finale (/spoilers)
Basically, I don’t think Tommy forgave Dream in any capacity. It could have been said a bit clearer, which is like why it’s ticking off a lot of people. But I think the intention was that Tommy understands Dream, accepts his reasoning, but not the way he chose to seek it.
I say it specifically because of this exchange, (its theme is present throughout the stream, except the last line aaargh)) :
Dream: “So you’re saying we’re on the same side?”
Tommy: “I’m saying I understand you. Dream, I don’t think there was a moment since I joined this server where we were on the same side. And that’s okay.
But your way of doing this? Of going around, killing everyone? That’s not okay. This fucking torture trap? That’s not okay.
But this on the inside… you just want friends. Me too, man. I get that.”
Tommy said “we have never been on the same side. That’s okay.” He isn’t expecting them to ever be on the same side, meaning they still aren’t. Tommy still sees himself as opposite to Dream, he’s just come to place where that’s okay.
Also “I get you man, but why the fuck the killing? Fuck that.”
Basically, Tommy says in that exchange “I get your motive, but you didn’t have to hurt anyone.”
He could have said “you didn’t have to hurt me,” but Tommy has the self preservation instincts of a creeper. So that checks out.
The exchange tells us that Tommy doesn’t forgive Dream. Not even the slightest.
He mourns the humanity that was in Dream and how terrible everything went. Dream just wanted his friends. He could have negotiated with L’Manburg. He could have solved this peacefully. Instead he chose violence. Like so many other people in Tommys life. Like how often Tommy himself chose violence.
I think Tommy was just tired of fighting. He realised that Dream had the same goal as him, and maybe he could talk Dream down from violence. Maybe Tommy could get his hands on an actual truce, and actually be left alone. It’s not the satisfying revenge he wanted, but it could be his only chance at stopping the next doomsday.
That’s my take away anyway. I think this was the intention with the final discduo scene.
There’s definitely a few places where the dialogue could have reflected this theme better. It scratched the surface, laid out the themes but was missing the bow on top. If this had been fully scripted, it would need an extra rewrite. Maybe Tommy verbally proposing a truce, while still saying “fuck you man for what you’ve done. I’m just too tired to deal with you anymore.”
Definitely not terrible tho. I think it was a fascinating theme to tackle and does make sense from both characters’ perspective. Even if it’s a little unrefined, cause after all this is scripted improve. Off-theme lines happen.
