Pearl & Cleo have never had to mourn Scott

In 3rd Life, Pearl had yet to arrive, Cleo was the second to die. There was no time for sadness, not for them at least. In the midst of Scott's grief & fury, No Mourning Could Be Done

In Last Life, they were a team, The 3 G's... doomed to fall, at some point or another. They led one of their own to victory, but all they could do was observe and then celebrate. There Was No Mourning To Do.

In Double Life, their relations were strained... and yet, it was so obvious the remaining both felt a twang of sorrow when Cleo met her demise, and when Scott took out both himself & Pearl, There Was Noone Left To Mourn Them.

In Limited Life, Scott went Feral, he Tripled His Kill Count in Two Sessions. This came at the cost of not caring much when Cleo lost her last life, and hardly caring at all about taking Pearl's. He Did Not Mourn Them.

In Secret Life, they somehow ended up on better terms again, yet even that couldn't stop anything. Cleo died far away and long before the true final fights. Pearl was so focused on Scar, Scott wasn't a single thing on her mind. She Forgot To Mourn Him.

In Real Life, such a fever dream. Happened so quickly, and memories so hazy... too hazy... Was There Anything To Mourn?

what fandoms do you write in? So many! Star Wars, Dr. Strange, Dream SMP, Avatar the last airbender... and this year I wrote several one shot for the movie The Count Of Montecristo 2024 (it's currently in US theaters and an amazing movie, go see it!!) and the tv serie Nautilus (misadvantures of a crew of misfit led by Captain Nemo. Yes the jules verne one. It's like a gathering of whump and angst trope, I advise it!!)

how many words have you published in 2024?Wow that's hard to calculate! Since I have some WIPs over several years, i can’t use AO3 function xd. Plus I translated a lot of my work this year, which artificially double the written amount. AO3 says 230k words, I'm honestly too lazy to count the true number, but I'd say it's between 50k and 100k.

what is your greatest achievement this year? I finished my first longfic, Dreamt of a Never Ending Sky!! It's 56k word and I began it three years ago. This was the end of a long road but it feel so satisfying to have reached it's closing point. 🎶

what are your top three fics you've written this year? Hard choice. Mhhh...

🪽 The Caucasian Eagles serie - bcs adding wings to the montecristo universe and brainstorming around it with fandom friends was an amazing experience.

🪽 Do Sea Monsters Dream of Pink Shellfishes? ��� I honestly love all the nautilus fanfic i wrote bcs this serie has so many fic whump and angst potential to play with. But i was particularly fond of that one because "becoming a monster" trope, plus I got attached to eel!Nemo I can't help it xd.

🪽 Unhinged Vaderkin Prompt Collection — it's more a snippet-prompt collection for all the ideas roaming in my head, but there are so many that it feel very satisfying to share them. And it does make me write a short snippet for each universe which is a fun exercice.

what was your biggest pit of despair moment? I have been in a writing hiatus for two months now, and haven't written much compared to last year >.> But I guess it's a necessary rest.

what have you learned? Unrelatedly, instead of writing I drew quite a bit. So i learnt that I actually can draw! With the help of a tablet xd. (I did make good use of that break time to read delicious stories :3.) Please check my drawing account @sinvulkt-art , it needs some love :3.

Not a fic, but I really wanna shout out to the webnovel & novel Omniscient Reader which I discovered one month ago and obsolutely broke my heart. I love it so much. It begin as such an ordinary story, but reaching its end sure make you think a lot and destroy you. Then the side story exist to crush whatever remain of your heart.

(I want to punch the narrator so much. Me wanting to punch the mc generally is a very good thing. It means they are an idiotTM. A very infuriating, smirking, wrong decision-maker, punchable idiot. It's amazing)

what ideas are percolating for next year? Advancing on my other WIPs and finishing as many of them as I can (namely finishing The Monster and the Child, advancing On the Edge of Twilight and What If Dr Strange Lost His Humanity)! And translating more one shot in french to boost a bit french fanfics I think.

who do you want to thank? Another hard question there XD. All my fandom buddies I think bcs stories are much more entertaining with people to engage with, all my mutuals, and all the people I keep tagging (harassing? XD) on tumblr for such games (hopefully you find them fun as well :3). Can't really quote everyone here, but @sarcasticfirefighter for welcoming me in the dr strange world a few years ago, @firejay112 bcs i had my best time in star wars as her beta, @tocacot who patiently support all my wild blabbering about omniscient reader... I was also overjoyed to collaborate with @ash--00 , @azzzryel and Enepfopi this year. I never really forgot my collaboration with @purpleopossum either. I am seriously impressed by @fanfictasia going through the wildly long list of prompt I gave them years ago (i know i'm super late to comment on them but you're doing great 💜). Covered Kindling is a sequel to Broken Rhythms, and is a Tommy-centric fic with 58k words so far and 6/8 chapters. It follows Tommy as he adapts to life and deals with his trauma after his kidnapping.

Summary:

Phil had a guitar; Tommy had noticed it on his second week in the house. It didn’t look like anything special, just kind of a guitar, but Phil never touched it. After a while of eyeing the thing, it started to make sense. It was older and definitely something that could snap like a twig if someone beat against it for more than a second. A delicate object he obviously kept away so no one would touch, and it simply rested in a stand in the corner of Phil and Kristin’s bedroom. Really, it was like he was asking for it to get stolen.

A Broken Rhythms sequel where, after finally escaping a fourteen year kidnapping, Tommy is home. Learning to be happy is harder than he expected.

Self-destructive behaviour, non-consensual drug usage, disordered eating, withdrawal - Tommy begins skipping meals to avoid potential drugs in his food. Tommy begins skipping therapy and lying to his parents about attending therapy. Tommy dumps his medication in the sink as he believes it to be making him worse and experiences severe withdrawal, which he mistakes for the flu and refuses to believe is withdrawal. Following later events in the chapter, Tommy runs away.

Panic attacks, hallucinations, violence, mentioned death - Due to his withdrawal, Tommy is struggling to sleep. The lack of sleep and withdrawal symptoms causes him to hallucinate Dream standing outside his window. This causes him to experience a panic attack. Later, he is confronted by his family and hallucinates Dream's voice saying his name and laughing, and has another panic attack, where he mistakes Phil for Dream. He swings at Phil when he approaches him and hits him with a mug. Phil falls and hits the side of his head on the counter and Tommy believes him to be dead. Tommy assumes that his family will want to kill him for this.

Mentioned kidnapping and child abuse, mentioned animal death - Tommy makes references to times he was kidnapped and abused by Dream, he also references when Dream killed Henry, his pet cow, as a punishment for trying to run away.

Dream still sus as hEECK and I definitely don’t think he’s super great so I was lowkey pretty excited for the end bit of chapter 5!!! Hopefully Tommy boy can get some good, *healthy* relationships outta this turn of events (crossin mah fingers for some lil cuddles mixed in perhapsssss, goodness knows the boy needs it).

Annnyyways! I was tryin my best to get the little blob guys to be decently unique cause why not ig lol. Hopefully they’re accurate, but I think these blobbys and pretty cute either way.

(Purposely did little squinty eyes for Tommy cause I was like ‘OOO itty BITTY blobby boy :D he do da squinty cause smol :D’ so that’s my only reasoning: it’s cute.) also thought he’d have a bit of an unhappy expression cause, like, he seems like he’s kinda conflicted a lot and I think he’s allowed to be upset bout it. I mean, bro dunno who to trust at this point :P

any excuse to rant about music 😌😌 (Spoilers for undertale if u haven't played it)

So first I'm gonna talk about how Asriel/Flowey and C!Dream are incredibly similar characters and THEN I'm gonna talk about how the musical & thematic choices of His Theme really fit dream's character.

A big theme of undertale is grief and how it changes people, and the biggest example of that is Asriel. Asriel is a very kind, kinda naive kid (Dream during the early days) who goes through a very intense trauma which results in him being fundamentally changed that he's essentially a different person (Dream near the end of the smp).

When we the player finally meet Asriel he is painting himself as this incredibly strong, unstoppable monster but as the fight progresses we realize that he just wants to go back. He wants to be himself again and he wants his family back. (literally dream's whole endgame . big happy family big happy family big happy family) but in the end Asriel as to accept that he can't go, he can't become who he used to be and he has to come to terms with that. (do I NEED TO EXPLAIN?????? AHSIDOOSISOFOFKKSJAKSOFOIFIF FUCK)

and the music of undertale is going to reflect this change that Asriel goes through! we first clearly hear the melody for His Theme we hear it as a music box, a soft quiet little song. Then we hear it again in Memory, it's very light and airy here. It sounds happy. Literally Dream before everything went wrong and how he remembers the early days. (Also how the player is shown who Asriel is definitely mirrors how Tommy learns who Dream truly is. Through someone else's memories.)

Then we hear it again in the theme of the game! The melody Undertale is the same as Memory and the music box. The melody here is slower and a lower octave giving it a more melancholy feel to it. This compared with the tune of Once upon a Time and Home that we hear in the song it gives it this very nostalgic feel to it. It also perfectly captures the tragedy of the entire story we're being told during this segment of the game AND DREAM'S STORY!

We also hear this melody in other parts of the game, it's there in Fallen Down (the second song we hear in the game). Asriel and his music is literally woven into every aspect of this game, much like how Dream is woven into every aspect of the smp down to its name.

And when we finally hear His Theme it is this loud, uplifting orchestra with just this misery baked into it. Asriel is literally begging the player to let him have this, for him to have his sibling back during this theme. Dream is desperate to go back to what he had before, to be who he was before but his grief and trauma has fundamentally changed him. He can't go back. And the only way someone is able to get through to him is by understanding and giving compassion, similar to how you're able to get through to Asriel at the end.

Undertale is actually a really good case study for how musical motifs can be used narratively and if u ever want to explain motifs to people I'd definitely recommend undertale lol. Anyway c!Dream is His Theme coded by Toby Fox coded. goodbye

Empires SMP fic idea

FINALE SPOILERS

this is based off of when Sausage had to go retrieve Shelby from the spirit realm and he told her that everyone's spirit realms looks different. I am interpreting spirit realm to mean afterlife for this idea.

Shelby's afterlife was a empty white void because with all her fears and insecurities, she had convinced herself she deserved punishment for her actions. Her afterlife reflected her innermost feelings by creating an empty void as punishment. But even deeper than that, her afterlife felt her true desire to not hurt anyone so it created a space where she wouldn't be able to hurt anyone because there was no one there to hurt.

Now what if something happens that causes someone else to be sent to their afterlife and Sausage goes to retrieve them. He gets to the spirit realm and is greeted by a full afterlife. Think ESMP season 1 Scott's finale where he used the rune blade to stop Xornoth by k*||ing himself and got sent to an afterlife where he got to live out his happy ending. So Sausage has to search through this afterlife to find the person he came for and when he finally does... they don't want to leave. They're finally getting everything they always dreamed of, this place is perfect, don't you see that Sausage? Why would they give this up?

So now whoever is left need to figure out how to convince the person in the afterlife to return home with them because whatever happened to put them in the afterlife in the first place is still a problem and they need their help to fix it, but even more than that, they're their friend and they won't just give up on them. They need their friend back!
