1- In your own words, tell us what you like most about your MC / OC. 

I love how passionate and carefree Luna is. She loves and gives without expecting anything in return. She is an amazing character, one I’d love to be friends with (because she’d know some hot guys and could get me a date 😅). Overall, she‘s very sweet, but hurt her friends or family, and you’ll get to know another side of Luna. 

She’s just a good soul with good and bad sides, which I love. Luna is sunshine mixed with a little hurricane. 

2- Do you feel your MC / OC is like you at all? How are you alike or different?

There are some things Luna and I share. We both struggle with anxiety. We both have a similar eye color (blue-green) and a shade of blonde hair. Hers is lighter than mine. We both share the love we have for our friends and family. We do share the same taste in guys or are somewhat similar 😅. We are different in the sense that Luna is a more creative soul, and she’s less stubborn than me 😅. 

3- What is most important to your MC / OC? What is their motivation in life?

Luna just wants to leave a good impression on people and life itself. She thinks if you send positivity into the world, good karma will return to you. 

To make memories that’ll last a lifetime. A life well lived and one that’s cherished. 

4- What are their biggest pet peeves/dislikes?

People who are judgmental of others

Liars

Tourists/Locals who endanger animals (in the ocean and on land alike) and litter (throwing their trash everywhere, including the ocean) 

5- If your MC / OC could change one thing - anything - what would it be?

Less war, hate and negativity in this world. Just live and let live. 

6- What is your MC / OC's favorite quote or song? 

Luna’s favorite quote is a Hawaiian saying her grandmother always mentions: ‘A’OHE PU’U KI’EKI’E KE HO’A’O ‘IA E PI’I – (No cliff is so tall it cannot be climbed.)

7- Other facts about Luna

Luna got her Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Hawaii. She specialized in ceramics, drawing, painting, and sculpture. Currently, she teaches art at the University of Hawaii, but she wants to have her own gallery in Honolulu to showcase her art and show how proud she is to call Honolulu her home.

She actually has a sweets drawer; Bryce always makes fun of her but secretly takes some caramel-covered almonds from Luna’s drawer, and she pretends she doesn’t notice 😅.

Her favorite painting by Lindsay Wilkins is ”Akala Sunset“ (akala = pink in Hawaiian).

8- Is there anything else you’d like to share about your MC / OC? 

I created Luna while going through a rough patch in my life. I was fired from my job during COVID, and so many other things were happening, so I was looking for something to help me deal with things. That’s when I found Tumblr and all these wonderful people. At first, I hadn’t even thought of writing anything, but then I kept having this idea for an OC, and I wrote down a fic, and it went from there. 

Luna inspires me daily. To live in the moment, to enjoy life. To spend less time on my phone (even if it’s where all my notes about stories and characters live 😅) and to spend more time with my friends and family. To love pink. Be more positive in life, and not let the bad days win. To simply be more me, my sometimes weird, full-of-energy Aries self.

I‘m also SO grateful I created Luna and all my wonderful stories. Thank you to anyone who’s ever given my characters and stories a chance. I will never be able to express my thanks and gratitude 🥰.

Dear you,

Whatever happens in life, whether good or bad, don’t take it too personally; don’t let it consume you. Just try to breathe out and let it go (yes, it can be like the song from Frozen 🥰) I learned a long time ago that if you carry hate and bad vibes with you, it’ll be like a bad smell, you can’t get rid of, and you don’t want that do you? So be you!!!!!! However, you choose to be, whatever you wear, how you express yourself. Be you!!!! And maybe live close to a place that has a lot of sun and a beach (just saying, vitamin D is good, you know, and yes, the advice came from Bryce 🥰) 

Whoever needs to hear this: I see you. You are loved; you are worthy. This world wouldn’t be the same place without you in it. Never forget that!

hi sorry I haven't gotten around to your ask yet I'm working on it, BUT I'm tossing the favorite SWTOR oc question back your way (and also whether they're following canon or doing their own thing).

I'd also love to know if you have any particular bothan headcanons you like a lot.

Hi hi!! Don't worry at all, please take your time with your response! We're all here for fun and interactions, not pressure, right? And thankyou for asking!!!

Now, part one is easy, haha. Ahuska is hands down my number one best favourite SWTOR OC, even if she appears somewhat differently in game than in my imagination. She's my main toon, the only one actually up to speed with game content, the only one with passable gear, lots of fun pets and mounts and outfits, and is currently working on polishing up her Mojo Dojo Copero Dream House.

(I absolutely need to draw her as her proper bothan self in this outfit!)

BUT, where she matters to me even more than that is in her story/RP, and here things diverge... quite a lot, hahaha. Very very originally she was just a toon that I made to PVP alongside my husband with (I actually did think of her as a bothan right from the start), but when I found myself hungry for RP I fleshed her out a little to join a RP guild in game which is where her life really started (particularly owing to @koboldgirl and the exceptional times we've had writing together). The group's premise was a Mandalorian clan rebuilding itself after all the Zakuul business, but despite that vague timeframe her story never really touched on swtor events or canon characters (the toon is an Imperial Agent but she is not REMOTELY an Agent, even as much as I love the IA storyline). Over time I made a bunch of wonderful friends in the swtor community and Ahuska's story has intercepted a few others here and there, and from that perspective keeping the timeline vague/unimportant and away from key canon characters/moments has really helped with being able to have her interact with others without contradicting their own things they have going on. I think engaging with other characters/writers is what motivates me more than anything and I get a tonne of joy in seeing/considering/plotting how they might interact!

Now, Ahuska also took a deep dive into an AU with @askshivanulegacy that started as a halloween drabble challenge and has somehow become literal years of very intense worldbuilding and fiction and words can't describe how much I love this story, hahaha. It's still very much Ahuska, and very much swtor, it's just... swtor if the Empire managed to perfect a weird-science-sith-alchemy-intelligence-conditioning combo to create a very star-warsy version of werewolves (and were-any-other-critter). The first generation were designed to be secret soldiers/weapons, but the project failed and Ahuska is the sole survivor, going on a wonderful journey of self liberation and learning what truly makes a monster. The second generation (and all subsequent) came from Intel refining the technology and utilising it as an extra toolset for the most elite of elite Cipher agents, which is where almost all the rest of the cast comes from. Naturally there's a lot of divergence from canon here by the very nature of things, but funnily we also lean on a lot more canon swtor story beats, particularly when we look ahead to the KotFE and beyond time period.

I have so much love for every iteration of Ahuska, honestly, and I know I've mentioned it here and there but she really truly did play a huge role in pulling me out of a pretty grim place, not only helping me rediscover a lot of creativity but also helping to restore my trust and faith in people in general. She's led me to people who are now my absolute dearest friends, which in turn has taken me quite literally, physically across this humble planet we live on. I genuinely believe sharing stories is a massive part of what makes us human and I get very sentimental when I consider what a significant place this silly little bothan holds in my heart <3

Now, it's getting late for me, haha, so I will probably visit the second part of your ask in another post, but I love that as a question! >3 Once again ty for sending this and I can't wait to hear about yours!

Hi! I'm out of the loop but are you also part of the team in "deluge sermon of the dead"? If not, then I'm 99.9% sure that someone is using your CGs of Castoria and Castor in it without permission

No worries! I'm pretty much out of the loop with everything myself xD I'm gonna be super duper lazy here since my arm is still broken, so apologies for that, but basically, I've had a couple of emails in the past asking the same question, so rather than type out something similar, I might as well just be lazy and copy/paste what I said before in an email reply to someone x3 And it's really nice of you to take the time to get in touch to let me know, btw! I appreciate it :3 The short(ish) answer is, I'm not part of the team who worked on that project, nor do I know any of the people involved in it, but it's okay because they haven't done anything wrong, we just both happen to be using the same sprite asset packs from an artist who sells assets. The main difference is that they're using them as they come, and I edited them in GIMP to avoid using the default versions. I'll put the longer version below :3 Thanks again and I hope April is going amazingly for you! (copy/paste begins here)

In this instance, it's all good. Basically, I can't draw to save my life, so any art that's in my games is either stuff that I've purchased in sprite and background asset packs (and then edited myself), or collaborations with awesome artists. 

All the sprites in Darling Duality are from a Japanese artist who sells their work in asset packs. But the trouble with asset packs is that if other people use the same sprites, then you'll have what looks like the same character in different games >.< That's one of the reasons why I always take the time to recolour my sprites in GIMP :3

So that blonde version of the sprite I used for Castor/ia that's on that page is basically the default way that the sprite comes when you buy the pack (and the outfits they've used are from a bonus wardrobe pack that I also own and plan to use in the future!) Even some of the other sprites in their screenshots are ones I own too from a different asset pack by the same artist. 

Most people seem to use them as they come. So even if I can't draw, I can at least make my versions of the sprites look more unique by recolouring them ^-^ It took a while with Castor/ia, but I feel like it's worth it. If you ever see the exact version I've used anywhere else, then it probably means it's stolen from my games because I spent ages making that particular mix of colours for the hair and clothes. It would be quite suspicious if someone managed to copy the exact colours I've used. 

I also own pretty much all of the background art assets they've used in their game too, haha. Background art assets are almost all by the same few artists, so a lot of indie games end up having the same backgrounds, especially from the Japanese artist known as Minikle. 

I've learned a lot about image editing over the years, so recolouring is quite fun + I can make my own UI assets nowadays too, but I still can't draw very well T_T haha. I always prefer to collaborate with artists when I can, like I did with my most recent release (Bitter/Sweet Blythe) where I got to work with my artist friend Lazy Polar Bear again :3 Cos it's always more fun to team up with people than working alone + it's always nice to have sprites that are 100% original.

Okay so i realised im a fucking idiot and that i’ve been sending you shit through “?” And i have no idea where those messages go through so whoopdy doo ig but in my defence i wasnt able to send anything any other way bc.. uhh.. yeah my email wasn’t confirmed n all that. Im telling u man i’m a whole ass boomer rn🤦‍♀️ can’t even remember how to send an ask smh.

Anyways i only now finished reading svs because i’ve been putting it off in favour of reading different fics (works from other fandoms and… ooc soukoku fics. Listen i hate mischaracterisation as much as the next guy but i find them very entertaining okay) and AAAUURGGHH WHAT A BANGER. The way you write is immaculate if svs was a food it’d have a savoury taste like i’d be liking my fingers n shit. I found out about it when you posted on twitter you updated it (it was the smut chapter, by the way) and i was like “huh” and decided to read it and my god am i glad I didn’t skip over that tweet.

Idk if this was on purpose or not but verlaine is kinda cringefail in your fic and i love it. I am a firm believer that as badass as verlaine is he is undeniably embarrassing and i need MORE of that.

My one criticism for svs is that we needed more adam scenes. He should have been added like really, unnecessarily early on in the fic and act as a third wheel in the fic. But like a third wheel soukoku did not want or ask for but he’s just kinda there they can’t really get rid of him. Chuuya and dazai in their divorce arc arguing and adam is in the background thinking “i could crack a really funny joke from this” (on that note i added the lines “Adam’s blabbering makes more sense now, so they act as if nothing has happened. “When I lift this veil, you will seal the deal with a kiss.” He can’t stop himself from laughing, “I hope you enjoyed that joke too.” “We didn’t,” Verlaine says from across the shrine. “Paul be quiet.”” In my “collection of fanfic lines I chuckled at” in my notes. He’s so silly i love him. I love how he laughs at his own jokes he just like me fr.)

Anyways here are like two extra svs doodles. I keep thinking about how you said that chuu can fluctuate between genders (literally) and its so… zamn.

And reading the scene where verlaine is brushing chuuya’s hair inspired me to draw this

I have no idea how long chuuya’s hair is supposed to be like idk if it’s “yeah his hair is a little longer than it is in canon haha” or “yeah mf got some LONG ass hair looking like rapunzel”. Also I don’t remember if his lil ribbon was red or blue but.. i jus went with blue and i didn’t know if the pearls were supposed to be like on his head or woven into his braid so i just went with the latter. And again ALSO i know he was barefoot but i’m not drawing his fucking dogs okay.

I forgor to post last night

I listened to Stely Dan and beat Hydlide yesterday thats really all that happened. My past two weeks have kinda vanished into thin air and I'm not sure where they went. I started drawing again tho, I guess I'm just a phone artist now lol.

Me and my brother also played Last Blade 2 for the first time and that game seems really good. I'm very picky and negative about fighting games these days and I really only enjoy Soul Calibur and Arms at this point, but reading about the frames of how grabs work and stuff like that I was like this seems cool. I've kinda experienced a horseshoe effect of being a scrub, and then learning more, and that knowledge looping back into a scrub mentality. I swore I would never buy another fighting game after like Granblue or Tekken 7 or something, but I got SF6 because my brother needed someone to play with, but I always find something I hate about games that arent Soul Calibur. Usually how throws work. The feeling of getting grabbed by Mika in SF5 was so infuriating that I became a "throws are dishonourable" guy again lol. Like when throws are frame 1 its like youre playing the game and then youve lost 15% of your health before your brain can even register what happened, and then you have to watch a long ass animation before you get the chance to guess wrong again and I just do not have time for that in my life

But unlike SF6 Hydlide is a game that is nororiously bad, and despite that I almost played another run immediately after finishing it because I actually really enjoyed it. I think one reason why is that I'm 99% sure my old save was bugged and incompletable, so I started over and with my knowledge of where stuff ia and how to get it, I caught up to where I was in like 15 minutes. It still has some dumb ass mechanics but I really like how the bump combat feels. It isnt like Fairune but it feels more like youre actually battling the enemies its really cool. Its terrifying too though and I could not have beaten it so fast without the rewind and speed up buttons, which I usually dont use in games but fuck man. That game is a time vampire, but a fun one with a great vibe

Design note time (and based on tags from Lican and Cat :D) Thank yall im glad ya like the designs

- Dianite and Mianite's outfits being nature based/looser in design v. Ianite being covered in a very sharp angles and symmetrical armor is very much intentional! :D It's very much meant to kind of symbolize how her purpose is to challenge the natural order by keeping everything in a perfect balance, that shes very intricate and intentional with her means; very clean cut

- The dark purple spots on her arm are void corruption >:]c I havent fully detailed it but what I had in mind is that in order to aid in suppressing the powers/quintessence of her brothers (to prevent a rise in the forces of Order or Chaos), she's been drawing the energy of the Void from the End into the Overworld and the Nether and this be the consequences of that villanous use (Nethervoid is what the chains keeping Dianite imprisoned are made of)

- Her eyes becoming a voidal purple light is a evil thing but also a lore thing 👀 Ive started on the scene but it starts turning when she steals Dia's heart

- Mianite's design is overall meant to be a homage to caves and cliffs, with yuppers his hair being like ice/snow to the sea, and his laurel/robe/cloak colors being styled after dripstone caves, deepslate and lush caves (and some sculk as well if you can spot it 👀) The heart of the sea in his staff has lore but imma share that later on hehe

- And hell yeahhh Dianite is based on the Nether update! :D The outfit I put him in here is what he looks like after he's been freed and is wandering the farthest reaches of the Nether, tailoring his own cloak and crimson wood armor (the more fancier gold things are made by brute piglins when he takes up residence in a bastion and starts building up a mini base to figure out how to get out- because even if he's not in the chains anymore, he's still been stripped of his godly powers)

- I also imagine that some of his jewelry were gifts snuck to him in prison by guards (he seems like he'd be the kind of guy to try and charm favors out of those around him, part of me thinks this is part of why Ianite takes his heart away but i havent finalized that) Also his broken horns yessaahhh >:O Thats a fun (angsty) bit of backstory as well

- The little element I hid in there that connects their designs are the geometric spirals (On Ia's chestplate/back of her boots, Mianite's hanging belt sash and Dianite's belt skirt) which. not really lore tied to it i just liked the look but is open to interpretation smiles

Oh god finally someone who gets me! I'm not so keen on excessive torture, guts spilling out and whatnot when it comes to horror either. I very much enjoy a good spook but without all that gore most people love to see. And that's perfectly fine, it's just not for me, it's not my thing. I think I will just stick to the addams fam, hocus pocus, practical magic, the vvitch etc. so mostly fun, halloween themed movies and a few actually spooky ones here and there. I was invited to a costume party later today but I'm not certain I will attend. I don't really feel like going out, I just wanna be wrapped up in a blanket and eat my own candy. What a sad little life, I know. In case I still go by any chance I will be dressed as a classic vampire, I even have a black cape lying around which ia the only thing tempting me a little.

I totally get it that you rather spend your free time drawing though. If I was half as talented as you I too would draw all the time but alas.. 😩 Oh speaking of art! I adore your new drawing so much you have no idea! That's like the most perfect crossover, Wednesday summoning Betelgeuse to wreck some havoc. It's pure gold! ���� Your mind! Incredible. #284 - All I Need are Things I Like (PinocchioP) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 16-11-05, Upload Date: 16-05-01

An underrated song from PinocchioP, although it only took six months for the song to reach this list. A nice mix of personal and global, as with most PinocchioP songs. Even though the song targets me specifically, I still like this song, although I guess… huh.

#285 - Aira (n-buna) [GUMI]

Achievement Date: 16-11-09, Upload Date: 15-07-08

Of the 2015 n-buna songs, I like this song a bit better. I like the straight rock sound a bit more and the n-buna tuning with the rock makes for a nice contrast. Kind of feels like an anime insert song from some idol band anime or K-On! knock-off. 

#286 - The Name of The Sin (ryo) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 16-11-13, Upload Date: 16-06-10

Honestly, I am not hot about the long-awaited return from ryo. I think ryo made the right decision in heading toward anime songs and this return seals the deal for me. He did all he had to say in Odds & Ends and this was just… too much. I think ryo’s speciality is finding simplicity even though he usually has a full orchestra, like When the First Love Ends or Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari, and this is just full for full’s sake.

#287 - Hayabusa (Ash Blind) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 16-12-08, Upload Date: 10-03-28

Hayabusa was a spacecraft designed to get asteroid samples… it was basically a suicide mission, but somehow after 7 years of trials and troubles, it finally succeeded. What a topic for a song, and the song is rightly epic as a result. It does its job.

#288 - Kyou mo Harebare (FuwariP) [GUMI]

I’m not sure if this is underrated or not, but this is one of the few genuinely happy VOCALOID songs (note it’s usually GUMI who sings those, don’t know why) and the use of the five GUMI voices is clever and well-done, actually.

#289 - Strobe Nights (kz) [Hatsune Miku]

Achievement Date: 16-12-19, Upload Date: 07-11-30

One of the earliest kz songs and I think one of his more powerful. The beats are just driving enough to counterbalance the long drawing notes of Miku and I think the electronics are not too intrusive. I think it strikes the balance of emotions and fun.

Band arrangement of the Night Sky Patrol of Tomorrow. Kind of makes the song a bit fuller, not sure I like this more than the original, but it’s not a disservice to it.

#291 - Perfect Crime Love Letter (150P) [IA]

Achievement Date: 16-12-31, Upload Date: 12-06-23

Third of the End of Shiori Project. It’s a series based on city rumors… which is a classic but rarely done actually. Apparently people accused the PV of stealing Children Record because it has a red moon… you can only sigh on that. First of five in the series, sixth maybe in the long, long future, but nothing after that.

Hi there! Just wanted to butt in and say that to me kriskats comment about the chapter is very accurate ...in my opinion this sex scene between D and Y just basically serves to show how much Y has change compared to the past in regards to sex thanks to D of course and the fact that he is in love for the first time in is life! all the paralles to previews sex scenes compared to this latest one proves exactly how much this is true! Because when you are in love you dont think that your crush having sex with someone else is hot anymore for example and when you are in love you want your significant other to kiss you passionatly and be gentle with you and all of that! I also think that D has a plan and wants ti bring Y to admit ia feelings! This are just my two cents about the all thing based on the spoilers we have seen so far ! Yes, I definitely want to believe that Yashiro has changed. That's the big question, right. I was talking to someone yesterday about how Chapter 46 could be another conflict point, not the end-all to the story, as my recent post suggests. I feel like I've scared a lot of people with my recent opinions, haha.

But as always, until the translated chapter comes out, I am mostly guessing and emotional. I tend to flip-flop on my opinions, that's why I start my posts with a disclaimer of some kind, like expressing how disappointed I am in myself for not waiting for a translation hahah

So to get to your ask. You mentioned that Yashiro's changed thanks to Doumeki. I've talked about that here and here and in my last post. So I agree, the evidence is there. But I'm interested to know specifically if Yashiro still doesn't like being treated like a woman in bed, or if he's jealous. Because those two have completely different implications for the story. I can't wait to read the chapter! But either way, if my current interpretation ends up being a bust, I'll have to go back to the drawing board. But that's the fun part about Saezuru :)

LET’S TALK PACING

Let's talk pacing, because it's a nebulous thing that I think deserves to be talked about more. BUT in order to talk about pacing, we need to talk about structure.

Writing a book is a thing. Most people who start out writing one, never finishes. They get stuck halfway, or they get a better idea, or they run out of steam, and even if they do finish it, they take one look at it and realizes it is not what they wanted and despair.

I get that. I really do. Most of the things that people write are short stories. Why? Because they are short, fast, fun little snippets. They might be a fanfiction filling out an established story, or just a scene that got stuck in your head, or even a carefully structured piece meant for publishing. It's still short. It's in the name. So you write it, check the grammar, maybe send it off to a beta, make sure that the language is good, and that you get across what you want to. Then you're done, publish and move on. The majority of time is spent actually writing, and most of the editing is done on the fly.

Why? Because it is short enough that you can keep everything in mind. It's a song, not an album.

This is what many people try to do with books, treating each chapter as a short story. Write, fix, edit, next chapter. Books... doesn't work that way.

One of my favorite illustrations of this is an author I am following on twitter (V.E Schwab, the structure of Vicious is -chef's kiss-) posting a picture of her and her editor trying to fix her latest (at the time) book before the deadline. The picture was of the floor filled with yellow papers detailing what happened in the scenes, and they kept moving around scenes to find the flow of the book. Because with a book, writing 'the end' is not the end, that is just the beginning. Because only when you've got the text down can you start making sense of the flow. Do you need to add scenes? Remove them? Move them around? These are the parts that are impossible to fix on the fly, because you don't know until you've got the end. It's too big. Too complex. It changes too much from what you've originally planned.

This is why I am so adamant about not fixing grammar or bothering having nice writing until the alpha is done. I don't know if the scenes will stay. I don't know if they need to be rewritten. I can't know.

In Rebirth, the scene where you steal the Rat-King was in a different place, and a lot more simple and dry. It was the part playtesters skipped through to get to the good stuff. I had to move it, rewrite it, add a lot of scenes to it just to make it fit better into the narrative and be fun. I have already done one round of changes to Retribution because I knew they were needed (moving chapters around, adjusting the timeline) but I can't look at it until I'm at the end,

If there is ONE advice I have to ANYBODY out there writing a book is to FINISH it before you start to edit it. Don't go back. Don't fix things. DON'T REWRITE THE START. JUST DON'T. Not until it's done. Otherwise it's wasted work. Take notes, but don't write it.

Just finish the damn book first.

It's taken me a lot of courage letting other people see my unfinished work. It's harder than I pretend, because I'm a perfectionist, but I also know that the end result will be the better for it. So I will suck it up. The biggest issue is that I can fix coding errors, but I CANNOT go and fix the pacing. Not yet. It will just sit there and annoy me, and I have to try to ignore it. It's not easy.

And here we come to the BIG problem with pacing.

PACING IN A BLOODY CHOICESCRIPT GAME.

It is a nightmare. In a book you have control. Here, the more choices you give people, the less control you have over the pacing.

Let's take a simple book. A is for Action, I is for Interaction, and R is for Romance.

A - I - A - I - A - R - A is a common pacing. A mix of action/plot and character interaction ending in a romance and a climax. No, not that kind of climax, get your mind out of the gutter.

In Rebirth I had a pacing like this, because the Interactions were separate, Ortega for the hero side and the past, Mortum for the villain side and the future. No complications. Simple. Easy to pace. And then we started to add love interests.

A - I - A - Ia/Ib/Ic/Id - A - Ra/Rb/Rc/Rd - A

Not that much more complicated. More alternative scenes, sure, but still straightforward as games go. Talk to person A or B. A lot of games that locks in your romance does this, choose the same interaction to build romance points, enough and you'll get the payoff at the end.

But some of those scenes were so nice, and would also work if you are friends. And I wanted a platonic playtrough as well. It's just that well, the friendship scenes are already there, and you can care about more than one person so why not be able to romance one and be friends with the other?

A - Ia -Ic - A - Ia - Ic - A - Ra - A

And all of a sudden those action/plot scenes are a lot further apart.

But some of those interaction scenes were cool, and kind of plot related things were revealed so maybe everyone should have those not to miss out on content, right? And that also helps with not having to choose one out of five options and feel shut out from the cool things in there for no good reason. In real life, people have time to do more things, right? Not to mention that you need more interactions to do more groundwork for the romance, which some people want to happen right now, and other people draw it out.

A - I - Ib - Ia - A - Ia - I - Ib - A - Ra - A

By now our plot/action A scenes are getting further and further apart... and all of a sudden someone says, well, there's a lot of talking and not much action in this game? Because we can have one playthrough that is:

A - I - Ib - Ia - Ic - A - Ia - I - Ib - A - Ia - Ra - A

because they talk to/wants to romance everyone, while another playthrough is:

A - I - A - I - A - R - A

because they are playing a depressed loner who would rather skip at least two of those I scenes because that would be in character.

And these are the things I'll have to sit and balance. Because there is no canon playtrough. Because some people will want to talk to everyone, and I have to make the decision if I should let them, and risk them complaining that the game is slow and too talky, but if I don't, they might complain that they get cut off from content for no good reason because realistically in the game they would have time.

And on the other hand I have to decide if I should allow people to skip content because it would be in character, and risk players missing out on content, information and maybe even think it was a short and boring game if they only played it once. I made the Lady Argent mind dive optional in Rebirth, and I think it was the right call. I did not make the Ortega argument in the park optional because I wanted that interaction there, though it was against character for some mc's to meet up.

These are the things I have to juggle, in addition to the pacing.

I am taking a big risk with Retribution, but I've allowed myself the possibility of failure, rather than taking control. I am giving the players/readers more variation/control and choices than I had planned. It's going to be very hard getting a decent pacing at the end, for all the varying playthroughs. But I'm gonna try.

We'll see if I'll manage to pull it off.

My future Eleteo children

Okay... I’ve been meaning to make this post for some time now, but other things kept putting it off... but recent events have inspired me to finally put it together, so here it is.

These are my versions of the children Elena and Mateo end up having. Technically, they’re part of my Tales of the Ever Realm AU, but I started working on them before said AU was a ‘truly set thing’. I’m not sure how fair it is to count them as ‘future children’, but I still wanted to share them.

Candida Doroteia de Alva Flores (girl) -  The first born child, and the heir to the throne of Avalor, Candida takes very much after her father. Her long hair, facial features and complexion are more reminiscent of her mother (though she wears her hair tied in a braid rather than a ponytail), but her eyes and hair color are inherited from her father, and her general personality is also closer to him.

At first glance, she looks like a vain girl who takes great pride in her appearance, given the dresses, tiaras, hair ties and hair pins that she wears, but any long period of time spent with her leads people to see that she’s a quiet child who goes about her studies dilligently, and a bit of a lone wolf, a big reason for her apparent pride in her appearance is to hide her lack of self-confidence. She is open and easygoing with her parents and their closest friends and their children, but draws into her own shell with people outside that immediate circle. 

She’s shy and soft-spoken enough that some have suggested that she may not be ready to be the future queen, but both her parents insist that Candida will be the one making that decision if she wants to, and both believe she will be a good queen.

Since she was a child, Candida was compassionate to others and tries to do her best to help people if she sees them in trouble. And while she doesn’t make a show of it, she’s determined enough that if she runs into a problem she will keep trying to solve it until she exhausts every possible option.

She likes history and literature, and while she’s not as interested in magic as some of her siblings, she does like it to a degree, and is good at defensive spells. 

She also has a good singing voice, and likes to play more than one instrument, though she mostly sings to herself when she feels she needs to cheer herself up. 

She’s close to her parents, and also to her Aunt Isabel and to her Uncle Desmond. She’s also somewhat close to ‘Tia Val’ and ‘Tio Manuel’.

Alexandro Rui “Alex” de Alva Flores (boy) - The second born child, born a little over a year after Candida, and very much her opposite in many ways, being an impulsive sort who believes in following his instincts and thinks he can take everything that life throws at him.

He has his mother’s hair and eye color, and a skin tone similar to hers, but he wears his hair short. 

He loves sports (his favorites being fencing, olaball, and horse riding) and very much dislikes studying, to the point it can be a struggle to get him to attend his lessons, which is not to say that he is dumb, as he certainly is clever enough to devise ways to sneak pan dulce from trays or explain why he was late for his lessons. Compromises to get him to attend his lessons have to come about somewhat often, and a few times it’s even necessary for his parents to put their foot down, most often Elena. 

But despite how different he is from his older sister, they do get along well, and she’s the first he will turn to if he feels he can’t turn to his parents. And while he can be a bit conceited when he wins, as well as a sore loser if he loses, he’s overall a nice boy. And as much as Elena is the one who puts her foot down with him, he’s closer to her than to Mateo. 

He doesn’t very much like magic at all, typically finding it boring, although like all of Elena’s children, he had to do the ‘required basic training’ to control the magic he was born with.

Outside of blood relatives, the ones he’s closest to are ‘Tio Gabe’, ‘Tia Naomi’ and ‘Tio Marzel’.

Leonor Matide de Alva Flores (girl) - The third born child, and the oldest of a set of fraternal twins, both born a bit two years after Alex. She has her mother’s hair and skin tone, and green eyes like her late great-grandmother Luisa and her late first cousin once removed Esteban. She doesn’t wear her hair as long as her older sister or mother, but it still goes down to the small of her back when she wears it down, which she does most of the time. She most often wears a wizard robe similar to the one her father wore when he started out as Royal Wizard.

She’s one of the spitfires in the family, and while no one will say she’s a bad child, much less evil, she tends to get in trouble for three main reasons.

For one, her passion for magic matches her father’s, and she can’t wait to know all the spells there are to know, which can lead to her trying to cast a given spell before she’s ready for it. 

For another, she’s a very competitive child, who gets offended if anyone doubts her magical sklls, often going above and beyond the call of duty to prove them wrong, sometimes with less than stellar results.

For yet another, she has a very intense rivalry with her twin brother (who’s as interested in and as passionate about magic as her) always wanting to prove she is better than him.

All of these things already lead to some incidents, although both siblings learned to restrain themselves after one of their competitions almost had a very unfortunate outcome. 

That said, for all that she and her brother bicker and compete about magic, both are there for each other when it really matters, and woe be whoever derides or mocks one of them in the other’s presence. Also, for the surprise of many, she’s a very affectionate child,  and when someone she loves is sad, she always goes for hugs first before saying she’ll teach a lesson to whoever made them sad.

While Leonor excels at magic, she’s much poorer in just about every other field, and although her grades still aren’t ghastly per se, everyone thinks she could do much better at everything if she put in half the effort she puts into learning magic. Like Alex, she fares quite well at sports, and more than once tried to copy her father’s elaborate magical acrobatics (not always with the best results).

To the surprise of some, she is actually a very affectionate child, 

She idolizes her mother and father, and other than her twin brother, the sibling she is closest to is her big sister Candida.

Outside of her family, the one she is closest to is Fiero, to the point that out of she is one of only two of Elena’s children who calls him Tio Fiero. Not only is he funny (there is something weirdly hilarious about his near-constant seriousness), but he is very patient when teaching her and her brother magic, and has plenty of stories to tell them about their great-grandfather, which they both love to hear. 

She is also close to Olivia, although the now Royal Wizard has less time to teach her magic. She also likes spending time with Carla, and although the malvaga does not actually teach her magic, she will be open to helping her with magical practice on her free time.

Lucero Ignacio de Alva Flores (boy) - The fourth born child, and the youngest of the twins. Like his twin sister, he has his great-grandmother’s green eyes, and his mother’s hair color, although his skin tone is a few shades darker than hers. 

He also wears his hair rather long (about shoulder-length), as he thinks it ‘makes him look cooler’. He also tends to wear a wizard robe similar to the one his father did when he first started out as Royal Wizard. 

He is as much of a spitfire as his twin sister, and his love for magic matches hers, which is why he tends to get into trouble also (whether alongside his sister or separately from her). He is as competitive towards her as she is towards him, and also tends to take it personally if his magical skills are thrown into question. 

That said, he is as present for his sister if she needs him as she is if he needs her, and he will defend her from anyone who tries to hurt her in any way, just like she does him. 

He is somewhat less inventive with magic than his sister, but he is better at grasping the theory of it, and will often get the handle of a spell faster than she does. He also has more patience to sit through academics, and does better at school work than his sister. However, she has him beat in terms of acrobatics, and if they play olaball against one another he usually loses. 

Like his sister, Lucero is more affectionate than many expect from such a spitfire, to the point that he and his sister have no fights over who gets to comfort anyone they love who happens to be sad near them both at the same time: they always share the task. However, he ia bit shyer about ‘getting affection’.

Also like with his twin sister, his favorite person after his parents is Fiero (he is the other of Elena’s children who calls him Tio Fiero), and he will attach himself to the former malvago at any half-chance, for the same reasons his sister does, and generally has an opinion of him similar to hers: there’s something funny about his constant seriousness, and his stories about Alacazar are wonderful to hear, and he’s a great magic teacher.  

That said, he does think Olivia is much more fun when it comes to showing them the actual fun side of magic.

He also like spending time with Carla, whether it’s practicing magic with her help or listening to the stories of her adventures (although she always turns him down if she asks him to tell stories more related to her confrontations with Elena on the days they were ‘more at odds’).

Núria Jazmin de Alva Flores (girl) - The last born child of Elena and Mateo, born a bit over seven years after Leonor and Lucero. 

She has somewhat darker hair and complexion than either of her parents, and dark-brown eyes. Like her mother and her oldest sister, her hair falls down to below her waist when she wears it down, but out of the whole family, she is the one who tends to change up her hairstyle the most, even outside of formal occasions. 

Like other last-born children, she feels she is the family baby, although her siblings and especially parents try to not make her feel that she is. Sometimes, she worries that she doesn’t help her case by being so much of a mommy’s and daddy’s girl, but she secretly loves that they care when she feels down and loves their hugs when she is sad.

She is also the girliest one out of Elena’s daughters, at least when it comes to her attire, wanting to wear dresses and change up her hairstyle simply out of personal preference rather than to make herself feel confident.

She insists she doesn’t want to be babied just because she is the youngest one, and that she is just as capable as any of her older siblings. And to give her due credit, she can back up her words, as she performs very well in academics, is good at fencing and olaball, and also does well at magic. That said, she is secretly a bit afflicted by the fact she doesn’t ‘truly stand out’ in any field. Candida sings better than her, Alex is better at sports than her, and both Leonor and Lucero are better at magic than her. She may be above average in most things she does, but she does not excel at any specific one like any of her siblings. And that worries her sometimes, as she feels that if she isn’t ‘truly uniquely special’ at anything, she’s less than them.

Both Elena and Mateo reassure her that she is perfectly special and fine just as she is, and Núria knows they speak the truth. 

But all the same, deep down she wishes that someday she will find anything she can be the best at. 

She gets along well with all her siblings, but she does not have a ‘true favorite’ among them. Like all of Elena’s and Mateo’s children, she loves her mother and father. Outside of her blood family, the person she is closest to is Prisma.

Note: This is supposed to be for the Pastel prompt but I very loosely followed. This is just an excuse to write two boys in love.

SIMON

I look in the mirror and adjust my curls, then I inspect my nails. They're pink and the polish is still impeccable.

Perfect.

There's a knock behind me and turn to see my mother standing at my door.

"Almost ready, love?" she asks

"Yeah," I say

"Feeling a little bold today," she says

I smile and look back in the mirror to inspect my face full of make-up, complete with light blue eyeliner and baby pink lipstick.

"Felt like that kind of day," I say

"Well," she says, "You look quite nice. I'm sure a certain someone will appreciate it,"

"He's very biased," I tell her but her words still make me feel giddy from happiness.

She gives me a knowing look.

"Well, Happy Valentines Day, love," she says, "Now let's hurry before you're late for school,"

"Okay Mum," I say, taking one last look in the mirror.

I do look lovely

BAZ

I watch myself in the mirror as I put on my choker. It's made of black leather and has a glittery butterfly in the middle.

It's also new.

I head downstairs to where I can hear my family getting their breakfast.

"Bazzy," Cry out the twins at once

"Octavia. Victoria. Good morning," I say, giving them both a kiss on the forehead

"Morning Mother," I say as I give a kiss to baby Collin

He only babbles in response

Daphne smiles and hands me pancakes with a heart made on top.

"Happy Valentines Day," says

"Thank you," I say, "Where are Father and Mordelia?"

"Mordelia's Valentines Day surprise," she tells me

"Ah," I say. That made sense

I'm on my second pancake when My father and Mordelia come in, arms full flowers, cards, and chocolate.

"Happy Valentines Day," She cries with all the energy of a six-year-old can muster.

We all get a chocolate heart each, one rose, and one card. Daphne gets a bouquet of nine roses from my Father. Some old traditions I never asked about.

My father finally notices the shocker and raises an eyebrow.

"Is that new?" he asks

I nod.

"Did I pay for it?"

"Two of them actually, I bought Niall one too," I say, "Don't worry I didn't go over my monthly limit,"

Father had a monthly limit set out for me. Something about learning money management.

"Well, it looks nice," he says

I smile, remembering the first time I had tried on the getup I was wearing right now. His eyes had pretty much fallen out of his head.

"Are you looking pretty for Simon?" asks Mordelia, "Show me,"

I get up to do a spin for her, showing off my black jeans, combat boots, and my dress-like shirt with fishnet sleeves.

"I'm looking pretty for me," I tell her, "And if Simon appreciates it, it's just an added bonus,"

She just hums in response and goes back to her pancakes.

"Are you doing anything with Simon tonight?" Daphne asks

"We're going to a festival after school," I tell her, "I'll be home a few hours before dinner,"

"Lovely," she says, "You should go before you're late,"

I nod, drinking up the last of my tea.

Grabbing my keys, I head out of the door.

SIMON

Penny is waiting for me at the steps of the school, her purple hair twisted in a messy bun.

"Well, looks like Agatha's lessons really worked. Your make-up looks amazing,"

"Oh thanks," I say, "I got up early to do it,"

"Putting in the extra effort on Valentine's Day, " she teases

"I also did my make-up on my birthday, Penny, and for Christmas," I say

"Fair point," she says, "Oh look, Baz is here,"

I turn around and sure enough. Baz just pulled up in the parking lot.

I watch him as he gets out of his car, right along with Dev and Niall.

He looks as beautiful as ever. Even from here I can tell his mascara is making his eyes pop. He has purple lipstick on and I can see his muscle through his sleeves.

God, I love his arms.

He looks up and his eyes lock with mine. I nearly melt when he smiles at me.

God, he's beautiful.

"You are so gone on him," says Penny, "Go, I'm gonna go find Shep,"

I nod and make my way down the stairs.

BAZ

My breath catches in my throat as I spot Simon.

He's the epitome of beauty as he walks toward me.

Behind me, I can hear Dev and Bial snickering about me being lovesick.

But I don't care.

My boyfriend is wonderfully lovely.

"Hi, Baz," he says, with a blinding smile, "Happy Valentine's Day,"

"Happy valentine's day, Darling," I say, pulling him in, "You look beautiful,"

He blushes and is about to respond when someone clears their throat behind us.

Right. Dev and Niall. Forgot about them.

"What do you two want?" I snarl at them

"It's impolite to snog in front of your best friends," says Niall with an impish grin

I'm about to retort but Simon lets out a chuckle, slipping his hand into mine.

"Sorry guys," he says, "You guys have a ride for after school, right? We're going to go to the festival right after your football practice,"

Dev and Nial instantly smile, and I swear I can see hearts in their eyes. Yeah, Simon has that effect on people.

"Yeah," says Niall, "My mum's picking us up,"

"Good," he says as we turn to leave, "Oh and Dev, I like your nails,"

Dev smiles and says thanks.

I pout, "My nails are painted the same way,"

He smiles, "I was just being nice Baz. I always like your nails best. Cause they're yours,"

My heart melts.

I have a lovely boyfriend.

SIMON

We don't have morning classes together but I do get to see him at lunch.

It's Valentine's Day so we planned on having lunch together, just the two of us.

I make my way to the music room and find him in there, sitting on the carpet and, for once, not practicing his violin. Instead, he's drawing.

"Hey," I say, "What's that?"

He smiles and turns the sketchbook. It's a drawing of wolf demon feeding on a deer in the moonlight.

It's both beautiful and terrifying at the same time.

"Wonderfully done," I tell him

And I mean it. I might not understand the subject matter, just like he doesn't understand my obsession with flowers (I work at Ebb's shop. I love it) but he has a wonderful talent.

"Come sit," he says, patting the space beside him

I sit down and we take out our lunch. Halfway through, he laces our hands together (he's left-handed).

I look down and observe them. Mine are pale with nails done in pink. He has brown skin, with a skull ring and his nails a sparkling black.

They look lovely together.

BAZ

After school is our football breakfast.

I have to take off my make-up for that. I don't usually wear a lot. Just a bit of mascara. Sometimes some lip gloss and eyeliner but I still have to take if off if I want to avoid it running down my face.

Simon is watching me as I run around the field.

I'm not ashamed to admit, I show off a little whenever he's watching.

Dev and Niall always tease me about it.

As if they're any better. Niall once walked into a wall after his crush smiled at him.

After practice, and after I've showered, I find Simon in front of the locker room waiting for me.

He smiles at me and holds out his hand.

"Ready?"

I smile back and take it. I always want to smile around him.

We walk back to my car and when I get there, he pulls out the make-up bag I keep in my car.

"Can I?" he asks

I nod.

He takes out some mascara and lipgloss and applies it to me gently (Gentle. He's always so gentle with me)

He also pulls out some eyeliner, his this time. It's purple.

"Do you mind?" he asks again

"If you think it'll look good..." It might as well be permission

"It will," he says.

I look in the mirror when I'm done. He was right, I do look good.

SIMON

After I' done his make-up, Baz pulls the car out of the lot and we're on the road.

Its a pretty day, and there's minimal traffic. I keep the windows down and watch the air make Baz's hair fly around while I hold his hand.

BAZ

Simon holds my hand as I drive.

I know he would hold my hand all the time if I asked me to.

The knowledge makes me feel warm.

SIMON

We start with the rides.

We whoop on the fast ones and snog on the Ferris wheel.

Later, Baz buys me cotton candy.

BAZ

I hate cotton candy but Simon loves. I don't get it. It's just sugar.

We get some more snacks and afterwards, Simon tugs me to the games.

I try to tell him they're rigged but he insists.

"I'm gonna win you something!"

And what do you know, he does end up winning me something.

A plush cat as big as my pillow.

"Thank you, Simon," I tell him

I end up buying him a heart-shaped cushion later.

SIMON

Baz gives me a long kiss when he drops me off to my house.

My mum is waiting for me and she smiles when she sees me.

"Nice look she says," I look in the mirror and sure enough, my lips tik is smeared.

"Well," I say, blushing a little, "I had fun. He got met this,"

She looks at the heart and grins.

"He's a lovely boyfriend,"

"He really is," I tell her

BAZ

I step inside and am instantly greeted by my sisters, all asking me questions about my date.

Where do a six-year-old and two four-year-olds even get these questions? I honestly don't know.

Daphne finally comes along and saves me from them.

"Hello, Baz," she says with a mischievous smile, "Your hair is looking great,"

I look in the mirror at our entrance and I see that it's sticking in a few different directions.

Ah, yes. Simon likes to tug at it.

"What can I say?" I tell her with a cheeky smile, "I had a wonderful time,"

"So it seems," she says, "I'm glad,"

"Thank you, Mother,"

SIMON

We're lying in the sitting room after dinner. Mum is speaking to my Grandmother on the phone and I'm looking at new flower arrangements to try.

I find one particular one that makes me smile.

I screenshot it and sent it to Baz.

Something to have at our wedding!

If nothing else it'll amuse him.

BAZ

"How come you didn't go out tonight?" Ias k my parents once my siblings have been put to bed.

They look at each other and Daphne smile, "When you're been together for as we have sometimes, it's nice to just stay. It makes the adventures a lot more fun if they're rare. Anyway, big fancy Valentine's Day dinners aren't my thing. I have all the love I need right here, in this house,"

It's a nice sentiment and I wonder if Simon and I will be that kind of married couple one day. Happy to spend the night sipping wine in each other's company.

My phone rings and I pick it up to see who it is.

Simon has sent me a picture. It's a bouquet with bright pink flowers and black lilies.

The caption makes me grin wide.

"What's got you smiling like that?" asks my father

"Oh, nothing. Simon just sent me the centrepieces we're going to have at our wedding,"

Daphne looks up alarmed while my father chokes on his drink.

"Don't worry," I tell them, after letting them stew a little, "It's not happening for another ten years,"

I have never seen my father look so relieved.

SIMON/BAZ

I love him so much.
