The beginning
The beginning of something new. Things are gonna get wild
Pepa, Julieta and Bruno vowed they'd stay close to their home as adults. Not long after they turned 20, Pepa and Julieta both got married to their high school sweethearts Felix, and Agustin.
They both got married in 1990; Julieta just after new years on her and Agustin's five year anniversary, and Pepa that summer on her and Felix's four year anniversary.
1995 came around and they had bought a large house and were getting ready for their babies birth. Ironically both young women had gotten pregnant around the same time, about three weeks to separate them.
"Mama! What are you doing here" Julieta said as she opened the front door
"I came to bless the house before any new arrivals make their grand entrance. I have no doubts that your baby will make things dramatic. Juli do you know how much of a pain you were to birth?" Alma said as she came in and sat her bag on the counter.
"She was the dramatic one? I thought you said I was the dramatic kid," Pepa said recalling a prior conversation
"She was the dramatic birth, you were the dramatic child. There's a difference. Julieta came into this world being dramatic you never stopped pepi." Alma said
The soon to be grandmother pulled out a very old looking candle.
"This candle blessed mine and your father's house. It kept the four of us safe the night he died. It was like the house came alive just to protect us. It's now time to pass the gift along." Alma said to her three children, Felix and Gus watching from the staircase off to the side.
She placed the candle on the floor and sprinkled the top with something that resembled sugar. Then she lit it.
"what's going on?" Julieta said when the candle began to flicker.
The candle shone so brightly no one could tell what was happening, but when it dimmed once more the candle looked restored and had engravings on it.
"why are the doors glowing?" Agustin asked looking at the doors along the second story.
Pepa, Bruno and Julieta approached one of the three glowing doors.
First was Julieta who touched the knob and watched the door shine and engrave itself. The design was medicinal looking. She didn't know what it meant but waited for her siblings
Bruno went next. His door engraving an hourglass design Bruno's green eyes glowed for a moment and then a small green tablet appeared in his hand. He didn't look at it but waited for Pepa.
Pepa grasped the doorknob at last and watched as weather patterns engraved themselves, she was confused and above her head sprouted a small grey cloud.
"Bruno? What's that?" Pepa asked
"I don't know. But it says something," he told Pepa
"well? Are you gonna read it?" Julieta said impatiently
"it says 'to my children. I may not have been there to see you grow but I'm proud of how far you have come. This is a blessing for all generations of madrigal children starting with you three. To my oldest Julieta, you have the gift to heal ailments with food. My only son Bruno, you can read the future and show pieces of the past. And lastly to my little red Pepa, your mood controls the weather in whichever room you're in. I wish you the best, Pedro'" Bruno reads
"Dad?" Pepa said. The cloud above her was drizzling slightly
"Soo... I can see the future now." Bruno said
"Your father always dreamed of magic and magical abilities. When I sprinkled a touch of his ashes on the candle it miraculously brought his dreams to life for your families and furthermore." Alma told
Bruno's eyes shone green unexpectedly and another tablet showed up in his hand.
"do you want to know what you're having?" Bruno asked
"I know I'm having a boy" Julieta said
"it's a girl, I'm telling you," Agustin refuted
"team girl all the way" Pepa said, Felix nodding behind her
"you're both having girls," Bruno said.
"what?" Julieta squawked
Here's to the beginning of something wonderful to come.
Two dramatic births later and Isabela Melody, and Dolores Alayne were finally here. Ready to take on the world, and become the beginning of something beautiful.
Hope you enjoy ❤️

On a lighter note somebody on A03 just dropped this comment on Chapter 15 of DUCKLINGS THAT DROWN with a fan comic???? They gave me permission to repost it here and I had to because I'm obsessed!
Dolores Dei in her waiting outfit? The black speech bubbles for (real) Kim contrasting the white, pure, *fake*, speech of dream Kim?? How they're all drawn in general???
THE GAME MENU AS THE DREAM ENDS AND HARRY WAKES UP ALONE IN THE DARK???
I have been looking at this for hours.

Propaganda
Lupe Vélez (Cuban Love Song, The Girl from Mexico, Naná)—iconic Mexican glamor, known for her dramatic romances and hot temper. she could do unspeakable things <3 to me <3
Greta Garbo (Camille, Anna Karenina, Queen Christina)—Enigmatic and alluring and made me bisexual. The perfect example of the eroticism in silent films that literally transcends text. Could literally not change anything about her expression but you knew by looking at her eyes what she was thinking. She’s so gorgeous.
This is round 4 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut.]
Lupe Vélez:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(joint propaganda for del Río and Vélez) When I asked my 58-year-old coworker who I have been keeping updated on the vintage men tournament if there was anyone she wanted me to submit on her behalf, almost immediately she said Dolores del Río, soon followed by her assigned rival by studios (due to being the first major Mexican actresses in Hollywood) Lupe Vélez - which del Río did not play into and Vélez did. We love queens who know what they're about. No drama vs drama for the sake of publicity. These ladies are fantastic, my coworker has excellent taste.
A beautiful girl with a beautiful singing voice. She also loved small dogs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Garbo:
Tumblr media
A cold-ass Swedish WLW Sphinx. Had plans to murder Hitler that she never got around to. "She will remain always a child of vikings, moved about by a snowy dream."
Tumblr media
First of all, she's on the money; that's how much of a treasure she is. She's beautiful in such a distinct way you need very few lines to draw her. (Drawing by Einar Nerman) She managed to be mesmerizing in both silent and sound films. She kissed a woman in Queen Christina (and probably several more in real life). She was super dry and really funny in Ninotchka. She got the hell out of Hollywood and stayed out, living for almost 50 years after her retirement.
Tumblr media
Garbo is one of the many reasons why I'm gay. If you haven't seen Queen Christina please do, She is so gender in that film. Also her accent makes it sound like she's always talking in cursive and it's so hypnotic (or at least I think so).
She's a gay introvert, like all of us here on Tumblr.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Probabaly a lesbian, absolutely a mood when she retired
Mysterious and aloof, charismatic and enigmatic, with beautiful androgynous characteristics, Garbo is undoubtedly the most eccentric and unique Hollywood vintage star. Her aversion to fame and stardom makes her even more desirable to the audience, and her insane chemistry with the camera, an actress one of a kind! Her particularity and her oddity is what discerns her strongly from her hollywood co workers at the time, noone was like her and would never be like her. I think, to the utmost extent, that she deserves the title of the hottest vintage star, even though that would be an understatement of what she is!
Tumblr media
SO gorgeous, her thick Swedish accent makes will turn your brain into pudding

A Hargreeves Welcome
Five Hargreeves x Fem!reader
Warnings: none
Tumblr media
Y/N stood outside the grand, imposing structure of the Umbrella Academy, her heart racing with a mix of excitement and nerves. She had heard so much about Five’s siblings, each one a unique force of nature, and now it was finally time to meet them. Five stood beside her, looking uncharacteristically anxious.
“Are you ready for this?” he asked, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
Y/N smiled, squeezing his hand. “As ready as I’ll ever be. Let’s go.”
They walked up to the front door, and Five pushed it open. The hallways of the Academy were just as she had imagined—grand, a bit dusty, and filled with an air of mystery. As they entered the living room, they were greeted by the sight of the Hargreeves siblings in various states of relaxation.
Klaus was sprawled on the couch, flipping through a fashion magazine, Diego was cleaning his knives at the dining table, Allison was reading a script, Luther was lifting weights, and Viktor was playing his violin softly in the corner.
“Hey, everyone,” Five announced, his voice a little louder than usual. “This is Y/N, my girlfriend.”
All eyes turned towards them, and Y/N felt the weight of their scrutiny. She put on her best smile and waved. “Hi, everyone. It’s great to finally meet you.”
Klaus was the first to react, springing up from the couch with a wide grin. “Five, you didn’t tell us you were bringing home such a hottie!” He enveloped Y/N in a dramatic hug, twirling her around.
“Klaus, put her down,” Five said, rolling his eyes but smiling nonetheless.
Klaus set Y/N down gently, giving her an exaggerated wink. “Welcome to the madhouse, darling. You must have the patience of a saint to deal with our dear brother here.”
Diego smirked from his spot at the table. “So, how many timelines did he mess up to win you over?”
Y/N laughed, feeling some of her nerves dissipate. “Just the one, I think. Or maybe two. It’s hard to keep track.”
Allison stood up, crossing the room to give Y/N a warm hug. “It’s so nice to meet you, Y/N. I’ve heard so much about you.”
Y/N hugged her back, grateful for the genuine warmth. “All good things, I hope.”
“All good things,” Allison confirmed with a smile.
Luther put down his weights and approached, towering over Y/N with his imposing frame. “I’m Luther. If Five gives you any trouble, let me know, and I’ll straighten him out.”
Y/N laughed, glancing at Five. “I’ll keep that in mind.”
Viktor set his violin down and walked over, offering a shy smile. “Hi, Y/N. I’m Viktor. It’s really nice to meet you.”
“You too, Viktor,” Y/N replied, appreciating the sincerity in his eyes.
As they all settled into the living room, Klaus couldn’t resist continuing his teasing. “So, Y/N, did Five tell you about his first love?”
“Klaus...” Five warned, but there was no stopping him.
“You mean Dolores?” Y/N said with a grin. “Oh, he’s told me all about her. I’m just glad I don’t have to compete with a mannequin.”
The room erupted in laughter, and Five groaned, burying his face in his hands. “Why did I bring you here again?”
Y/N patted his back, laughing along with the rest of them. “Because you love me, and you wanted me to meet your family.”
Klaus draped an arm around Five’s shoulders, grinning mischievously. “Yeah, Five. It’s all out of love. Just like how we’re going to tell Y/N all the embarrassing stories about you.”
“Oh, please do,” Y/N said, her eyes sparkling with mischief. “I’m all ears.”
Five sighed, knowing he was in for a long night of merciless teasing. But as he looked around at his family and saw Y/N fitting in so effortlessly, he couldn’t help but smile. Despite the embarrassment and the chaos, this was exactly where he wanted to be.
As the evening wore on, stories were shared, laughter echoed through the halls, and Y/N felt more and more at home with each passing minute. The Hargreeves were a handful, but they were Five’s family. And now, they were hers too.
In the end, it was Klaus who raised a toast, his voice uncharacteristically serious for a moment. “To family, old and new. And to Y/N, for putting up with our dear Five. Welcome to the madness.”
“To the madness,” Y/N echoed, clinking her glass with the others. She looked at Five, her heart full. This was the beginning of a new chapter, and she couldn’t be happier.

Emergency Follow-Up Book Club Meeting
[Won't really make sense if you don't read Part 1 first, but Tumblr will hide this post if I add a link, so search "book club" on my blog]
Attending: Bellara, Harding, Lucanis, Neve, Davrin, Taash, Emmrich, Rook
Book: Adventures of Dolor the Daring, Volume 49, by I. L. Literatus Evaraas Mercar (Rook)
Notes taken by: Neve (Bellara was too overexcited to hold a quill)
Notes:
Important preface: This will likely be the serial’s last volume ever to be published. According to the paper sellers and my own sources, there is currently a lot of public outrage around the scene where Dolor gets hit by an enemy mage’s ice spike and, aside from wounding them for dramatic suspense, it also shatters a glamor amulet around their neck, revealing that they were not a human, but a Qunari all along. Reactions from (human) readers have included, to my knowledge: verbose letters to the publisher decrying the serial’s “forced diversity” in character backgrounds, as apparently it was already bad enough that the supporting cast is “teeming” with elves and dwarves; threats to the author as an “agent of the Qun” trying to “falsely paint their kind in a positive light”; laments from anguished mothers that their children will now think that the “oxmen” are all friendly heroes (I would point out that children have no business reading crime serials in the first place, but we know there’s no stopping a particularly determined twelve-year-old with a yearning to see a throat slit); and even high-brow critical essays insisting that Dolor has so far proven themselves to be far too quick-witted and intelligent to be a Qunari.
Rook opened the meeting by going over all of the above; which, according to them, was precisely what they feared when they picked up writing as a hobby. “It didn’t take you too long to figure out that Dolor’s adventures are based on my own,” they said, looking at me specifically (they did not seem angry, at least; though I suspect that Rook has trained their facial muscles not to betray them when they are angry, to put humans at ease). “But do I look like someone these adventures might happen to? In most people’s eyes, at least?”
Bellara and Harding disrupted the meeting to give Rook a hug.
Taash further disrupted the meeting with an offer to beat up every qalaba that made them feel like this. Lucanis supported them and volunteered his services to do it “more elegantly but also more permanently”. The offer was appreciated, but graciously declined.
Davrin asked if Rook regretted revealing Dolor’s true identity. Rook said they did not, and added that it was not a revelation, but a last-minute twist, which never would have happened if it were not for us. “I have been avoiding your book clubs because I was so embarrassed about my little secret… But it turns out I never had to hide it. Not from you.”
BEL, I CAN SEE YOU LOOKING OVER MY SHOULDER. I AM NOT GETTING SENTIMENTAL. I AM JUST KEEPING AN ACCURATE RECORD!
Harding said that she found Dolor’s sendoff to be “quite lovely”, and in her mind, they are still out there, fighting evil mages on the streets of Tevinter as their true self, with their friends by their side.
Bellara stopped trying to contain herself and erupted into enthusiastic gushing about the final scene, where the heroes get a moment to breathe as the villain is dragged away by a very Rana-like templar, and the mage Flosculus gently tends to Dolor’s wounds. In the previous volume, Dolor assumed that their feelings for Flosculus were not reciprocated, and decided to bottle them up. This volume still ends before the two can have an open conversation — but the delicate touches of the healer’s glow-infused hands all across Dolor’s bandaged torso, and the soft whispers asking them to tell him where it hurts “had more spice than the one romance we read that made Lucanis walk out of the room in a straight line”.
I am inclined to agree.
Emmrich laughed at no, that would be too mean-spirited; let’s say, was very amused by Bellara’s stumbling over the word “spice” and told her, “You can say eroticism, dear. That was the intent, after all.”
Rook has quite a few vitiligo spots on their otherwise slate-grey face, and that makes it a little more obvious when blood rushes to their cheeks. Which it certainly did in that moment — as they admitted the healing scene was Emmrich’s idea, and they merely “did their best” to commit it to paper.
To which Emmrich said, “And you described everything marvelously, my darling. I hope you know that all of us in this room are deeply grateful to you for sharing your work with us”.
I am also inclined to agree with that last part. But also, let it go on record that Emmrich held Rook’s hand while talking. If he ever blinks those big eyes at me again and claims that he had “no idea” everyone in the Lighthouse knew about him and Rook, I will just point to the evidence.
The meeting concluded with everyone reassuring Rook that, despite what happened to the Dolor serial, they should never stop writing. Harding even said, tearing up a little, that Varric would be proud. That made Rook blush again; are they finally beginning to process what happened? I cannot be certain.
Once we settled down, dice were rolled to choose the next book. It is Emmrich’s turn now.
Taash begged him, with a groan, not to choose any of the “thousand-page academic shit”. He protested that he has amassed “quite a collection of enjoyable romance stories” over the years — and took Rook’s hand in his again.
I see you, old man.

What do you think Uther would think of his grandchildren in my au?
Both Morgana’s sole son and Arwen’s kid?
Would he be horrified? Would he be proud? Would he hate them? Who, if any, would he tolerate the most?
Here's a bit of info on all of them (I tried to keep it condensed).
Morgana's son:
Madoc ‘Morgar/Morgie’ Le Fay, 20—was hired on as a bodyguard for Arthur and Gwen’s oldest two sons after they did something very foolish despite only being two years older than them. He's been described as odd, smarter than he lets on, and mysterious—and he is a magic user, like his mother before him (Funnily enough, he fills Merlin's role for the twins. Aka he saves their lives when necessary but doesn't outright spy on them and report back to anyone with that information).
Arwen's Children:
Loholt Pendragon, 15—heir to the throne who spent most of his childhood running around with the servants and knights’ children and the rest in the library and blacksmith’s quarters. Is destined to die of disease in the prison of Sir Caradoc of the Dolorous Tower, if intervention does not occur. Is dating a princess named Angelica.
Llacheu Pendragon, 15—twin of Loholt and possible future ruler of Lady Florie’s kingdom (the princess he is dating). Is destined to be slain in his sleep by his jealous best friend’s hand after slaying a giant if intervention does not occur. Has some magic in him.
Nathalia Pendragon, 13—a studious but fierce princess who is particularly handy with a mace and has many an ally amongst the other princesses. Destined to die a martyr with 11 thousand others during a pilgrimage if no intervention occurs.
Amhar Elyan Pendragon, 13—the first adopted son of Arthur and Gwen, and a Chamberlain. He was studious and always the odd one out in group settings, but was well loved by his family regardless. Is destined to be murdered by a shapeshifter taking on Arthur's form if fate does not intervene.
Iduana Pendragon, 11—a good friend of the staff’s children and a smart, stubborn, sneaky princess who knows how to get what she wants. Later, when she's older, she marries a disgraced prince named Edgar and goes back with him to his kingdom, keeping contact with her family.
Aedulf Pendragon, 10—this wild child of a prince grows up spending most of his free time in the stables, woods, kennels, and other places where he can be around animals. He goes on to become a vigilante dressed in all black under the name 'Morgan Le Noir’ before meeting Isolde's former handmaiden, Brangaene, and falling in love with her. If his older siblings’ fates are not prevented, he becomes the king of Camelot.
Duran Pendragon, 7—a squire who spent most of his childhood inside and fearing of the crows that were prophesied to one day take his life before he went on to become a vigilante named ‘Patrike Le Rous’.
Gwydre Pendragon, 5—a Bard and a Squire with an eye for matching making. He's highly resistant to his parents’ overprotective nature and has a flair for the dramatics. Is destined to be slaughtered by a giant boar if fate does not intervene.
Artie Pendragon, 3—the adoptive son of Arthur and Gwen who was rumored to be Arthur's affair child (which is not true). He's a mischief maker who wants to be just like his dad and is best friends with Merlin's son, Dragonet, and Gwaine's son, Everard.
Melora Pendragon, newborn—the second youngest child of Arthur and Gwen, and the one most willing to attend council meetings. takes up the mantle of 'the Knight of the Blue Surcoat' and goes on a series of quests to save her beloved, Prince Orlando of Thessaly, after he was imprisoned by an imposter of Merlin that Sir Mador sent after him.
Hilde Pendragon, born when Artie is five— the quietest and the most nurturing of the Pendragon siblings. The youngest child who eventually goes on to marry Prince Herthgegn.
Neither Morgie or the Pendragon siblings were raised how Uther raised Arthur and Morgana.
For the five years of Morgie's life that Morgana was alive for, she tried to be a better parent than Uther himself was and she succeeded.
As for Arwen’s kids?
Well, Arthur and Gwen raised them to be true to themselves as well as kind, hardworking, and just. Their children are their world and they didn't let things they found silly prevent their kids from being happy. Their daughters wanna learn sword fighting? Then they learned it. Their sons want to learn magic or how to sew? If it's possible they learn it.
Their kids come first to them.
And when Arthur found out about the orphaned Morgie (when he was twenty) he welcomed him with open arms.
I definitely think that uther would not like Madoc simply because he is a magic user lol. but also he is morgana's son so half of my wants to say that he might be tolerant but i do think the magic thing would just make him hate madoc.
also this got super long so putting under the cut here:
okay now im going to list for arwen kids
Loholt- umm maybe have complicated feelings. i do see uther tolerating loholt but also running around with servants when he doesnt deem servants worthy like uther is looking down on loholt for running around with them. i do think some tolerance but not enough. i did for a second accidentally mess up stuff so hopefully i fixed everything and this now makes sense for loholt.
llacheu- the magic in him would make uther not like him at all lol. complicated feelings again but magic puts a damper in everything that uther talks about or feels about
nathalia- ohhh i think he make like nathalia. uther is a complictaed person especially with how he reacts with his family but i do think i can see him tolerating or even liking nathalia to a certain extent
amhar- sidebit- holy shit thats sad as fuck that if no intervetion that would be his fate. now im sad thinking about if there ois no intervention that he could spend the last moments thinking that arthur killed him. brb sobbing (typing on computer cant do emojis now)
okay side rant over- i think that maybe the adoption thing might set uther off because uther is absolutely traditonal and etc so i can see him just not tolerating amhar. i dont think that uther would hate him but also not have any warm feeling about him
iduana- i see her going with the disgraced king as something that uther would not like at all (after all we did see how he reacts with people that he doesnt deem worthy and etc with gwen while yes its different but also the disrgaced prince lol) anyway i do think he would have complicated feelings about that. like i can see him liking iduna but it puts a damper on everything
aedulf- i think differences of how to behave and etc would affect this relationship high key. ngl i feel like a lot of them are tolerance but not enough and etc because uther feels so familial to me like he wont let disrespect go and etc but also i dont think he high key hates his family. so sorry if i repeat this again lol but tolerance but not enough where it actually matters
duran- he might like duran. hard for me to say right now what i think lol
gwydre- again i feel like this is hard for me to say. uther is sooo complicated in the family category that i think he would do anything for this kid but also at the same time not be willing to change who he is to actually be tolerable towards gwydre
artie- the adoptive thing i think would mess with him and make hi, hostile towards artie especially if its a rumor about an affair child wait actually i think that would make uther have the biggest resentment towards artie like it would be insane. so scratch what i said before i think uther would have a deep hatred towards this kid simply because of everything that everyone said.
melora- i think the knight position may make uther some bit hostile but also he never seemed in canon to have a problem with morgana fighting but also he has strict rules so idk honestly. i think uther would tolerate melora
Hilde- maybe some tolerance but honestly not enough to make it meaningful
lmaooo i did not read the last part before answering any of them but honestly reallll love how they dont follow in uther's footsteps. their kids coming first is everything!!! i think uther thinks of himself like that where his kids are incredibly important to him but it doesnt come across that way and he has different rules in how he operates. so like arthur and gwen's beliefs and how they raised their kids are going to 100% clash with all of uther's beliefs so def a lot of non-tolerance or barely any tolerance lol

It bears reiterating. Evan Rachel Wood in S2E9 "Vanishing Point" is some of the best acting I've ever seen.
Because philosophically, what's happening is that Dolores's soul mate just dumped her in an extremely dramatic fashion and she's in shock.
But what's literally happening is that a supercomputer that planned for every contingency just got blindsided by the one person she thought she knew like the back of her hand doing something she didn't account for. And now her entire plan - the end goal she was working towards and was so certain about - has been thrown off and it actually takes a second for her cognition to recalibrate and react.
And Evan just nails both sides of this character; both human and machine. Look at the way she tenses up, the way her eyes snap to the middle distance. The way she takes a few robotic steps forward because she doesn't know what to do and falls to her knees, furrows her brow like she almost doesn't know what she's looking at for a second. Dolores is so good at pretending to be human, but when she is at her most emotional, that's actually when the façade starts to break down and she reverts to something a little less elegant. The tears come, but first her entire mind goes blue-screen for a moment, and you can see it on her face. Not just shocked, malfunctioning. Not just devastated, perplexed. 🏆

having a little brainrot about encanto and specifically about dolores
like, a few after the movie came out, i saw that theory that says dolores is the real villain and manipulated mirabel, also using the argument of the front door (that dolores isn't happy)
and then jared bush said that she is at peace and not sad
and then i though, "what if she DID manipulated mirabel and the movie but not because of being the villain but because of loving her family?"
ok so, she listens to everything
she obviously heard her mother trying to control her gift, isa struggling to be the "perfect child", luisa being wrecked by the weight of it all, etc
and maybe she tried to help at first
imagine little dolores going to her mother's room not because of the herself, but trying to help with her mother's mood
and felix saying "not now, sweetie, mom's not alright" thinking that she had a nightmare or something
maybe she going to camilo's room, when he is a little older, to try and help him with his identity crisis (no one is going to convince me that he didn't had those from time to time)
and camilo "you don't understand it, you're not able to" and refusing help
and there's also the encanto people
like, when there's someone leading something, people talk about them
she heard everyone talking about her and her family
and not everything are compliments
"those madrigal, thinking they are better than us just because they have powers"
"i wish that pepa madrigal stays happy today, i don't want my yard to be ruined"
"have you seen that? mirabel madrigal doesn't have a gift, maybe she isn't really a madrigal after all. or maybe she is just as useless as agustín"
and she heard everyone's secrets
maybe one day she spilled just one of them, just one secret, just as she did with mirabel's
and everyone goes like
"oh, now you can't have any privacity"
"that chismosa madrigal, she should know how to keep secrets if she is going to listen to them"
she is just a kid, after all
and maybe one day she remembers mirabel's prophecy
and she gets to the conclusion that everything would be better if the encanto fell
her family wouldn't struggle with the gifts
people wouldn't talk about them
they would be just some normal people
a normal family
and, because of loving her family, she decides to make everything on her reach to help mirabel to destroy the encanto
because on her head, that would eliminate a lot of problems
and then the encanto falls
and they rebuild it
and she realizes that her family is happy with their gifts
that abuela learned that the gift is not the most important thing in their lives
that tío bruno is back
and now they will learn to be a real family despite of the magic
and she is at peace with it
maybe she will keep hearing it all, her head will still hurt and there will be days where it seems that things are going back to what they were
but it doesn't matter
because now the madrigals love who they are
or maybe i'm just crazy and dramatized all of it
sorry for the grammar mistakes

Ok @i-put-the-ass-into-sass and @justlikedsstuff the floodgates are open.
Imagining all the Beifongs, not just Toph having extremely sensitive seismic sense.
Just i imagine it's a very strong experience, strong enough to literally replace a sense. I imagine that it can be incredibly overwhelming for people who use it alongside other senses, eg. not replacing a sense like in Toph's case. I also imagine that the younger you learn it, the bigger difficulty you have 'turning it off'.
I like to imagine it can cause migraines and overstimulation in frequent users. But being unable to use it can cause anxiety and distress, as losing any other sense would.
Lin and Su knowing when their mother is lying about coming back home before dinner.
Su listening to her mother and sister's heartbeats and wishing that they'd just speak what was on their hearts.
Lin hearing Tenzin's heart speading up when he would look at Pema and not her. Lin having difficulty walking and keeping herself balanced after losing her bending to Amon, feeling literally blinded. Trying to keep it together in front of Amon and the Equalists but having a panic attack the moment she's alone because she can't feel anything, she can't feel anything, she can't feel anything
Su being hesitant to teach Huan and the twins seismic sense, because she knows how difficult it is for children to handle. But of course, they're stubborn little things and they start learning by themselves.
Its a very rare ability, but it comes surprisingly easy to the Beifongs. Though the cost is thay children are made to deal with senses sharper than their little minds are meant for.
I always headcanon that Huan has a particularly well developed seismic sense, which is the reason he's so testy and emotional. He can feel almost everything around the house (think dolores from encanto lol) and he has difficulty processing the overwhelming amount of stimuli. He tries to express it through art and he wears thick soled shoes to block it all out.
The twins are quite the opposite. They lean into it, so much so that they refused to wear shoes when they were younger. They were also heavily affected by being suspended in a wooden cage after the family's capture. To this day they feel incredibly anxious if seperated from it for too long.
Thinking about Opal and Baatar Jr not getting the sheer magnitude of feeling everything around you like that and thinking that their siblings are just being dramatic.
Thinking about the Beifongs pulling up their feet or trying to touch the ground as little as possible when stressed or overwhelmed. Or walking barefoot if upset or unsure, to get that connection.
Thinking sbout sensing heartbeats. Hearing the moment something or someone dies for the first time. Is it an animal, a random baby bird killed by an alley cat, a beloved pet? Or is it a person?
Lin killing a criminal in the line of duty. It wasn't her fault, technically. She did everything right, she defended the civilians he was holding hostage. But she tried to block the bleeding, hearing his heatbeat get slower and slower, until it stopped completely. How empty her head must've seemed when she could no longer hear it. How visceral the guilt must've been.
Arguments must be difficult. You can feel when you hit a nerve, sense the other person's anger, tell when they go completely cold towards you.
You can never lie, not to your family. No little white lies that make day to day life easier. No secrets. All blunt honesty and beating hearts filling your ears.
You immediately know when you've said something wrong. When you've hurt someone's feelings. The guilt is instantaneous. The slight skip of someone's heartbeat is like a slap to the face.
You know when someone's lying to you. You know they're lying when they say they'll be back for dinner. You know they're lying when they tell you they'll hang out with you tomorrow. You know they're lying when they say that they love you.
Do you call them out?
Or do you keep the peace, grin and bear it?
Can you even lie to yourself, or will your own heart betray you to yourself?
You know when a sibling is crying down the hall, know that they will be witness to every intimate moment you have, as the you will be to them.
Like there's so much to do with seismic sense. I want it to be less of a gimmick and more of a deep psychological experience. Like it is in all its essence a sense. It's probably a big part of its users lives.

Encanto: Camilo Madrigal —Aesthetic
Tumblr media
Camilo Madrigal's Character & Personality
Camilo is the fourth eldest grandchild at age fifteen as the middle child of Pepa and Félix. He's also the younger brother of Dolores and the older brother of Antonio. Camilo was gifted with shapeshifting. He's fun-loving, easy-going, and energetic. Thus, Camilo takes after their spirited parents the most. Social and charismatic, he has several friends his age in town. While not vain or boastful, Camilo enjoys the spotlight. He has a good sense of humor with a penchant for dramatic movements and exaggerating stories based on rumors for flair. Camilo likes to use his gift to entertain people. As the "theater kid" who's a natural entertainer, he's constantly trying to impress everyone. Camilo even enjoys eating, particularly food by his aunt, as he'll serve herself large plates than any adult. Still discovering himself, he'll shapeshift to try different personas. Camilo also enjoys pulling pranks and teasing his relatives. While mischievous and a bit impertinent, his antics are harmless. With a playful nature, Camilo often takes being scolded in good stride when caught doing mischief. Despite his wisecracking demeanor, he has a tender, sweet and responsible side. This is especially true towards his family. Camilo is good with children and infants, frequently using his gift to play with or care for them as part of his service to the village. Although he enjoys his gift, it makes him question his sense of self. Additionally, constantly shapeshifting tires Camilo out. Beyond this, he has rare moments of stress, which can affect his gift, like involuntarily changing body parts. Though he exaggerates his expressions when he transforms into others, Camilo displays a dry wit. After being sad about losing Casita, he snarkily emphasizes they're left homeless with a neutral expression.
