Dragon's Dogma 2: Main Pawn - Affinity
As it turns out, your Main Pawn can be befriended by/"fall in love" with your Arisen (the Main Character).
Pictured below: my Main Pawn fawning, aka: the blushy boy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(i play on the lowest settings to save frames, bear with me)
Look at this dork! :'D
I accidentally got him in this state by spending waaay too much gold on him at the Clovis's Barberie (the hairstylist), but you can also gain affinity with your Pawn by:
high-fiving them after fights, spending time with them by drinking at the taverns (beer mug icon on the map), waving at them every-so-often ("hail" interaction) and talking with them from time to time (small talk/matters of import)
So - by treating Pawns like real people, they can become more… human?
...and fall in love?
OW MY HEART

yknow what. Human Abilities AU where people's abilities are just... their own person. similar to a modern au but the abilities are also there but as actual people ^^ starting with sskk and skk! (am i making it into yin-yang w|w and double black m|m? maybe. i dont know myself. i think.)
byakko would be the strict but motherly protective tiger that i headcanon her to be. very protective of atsushi since he still goes through hell in an orphanage, and really, she has no filter but is nice enough to place one on for... five minutes. voice claim... ethereal but monotone. my girl's blunt. ex: tigress from kung fu panda rashomon would likely act similar to aku in a sense, but... more teasing. she likes to rile byakko up, but those happen on, like, a good day. which is one out of... two-three weeks. but similar to byakko, she's protective of the siblings very much, and can and will spoil those two with sweets since the whole slums situation. now her voice claim would likely have an elegant voice compared to byakko, yet both have the same bite. ex: yae miko from genshin impact but toned down. --- how these two interact... hm. probably how atsushi and aku were from day one in canon, they hated each other. but it could go two ways: where they catch fists or egged on by rashomon's teasing... "or is she threatening?" <- byakko. but after some time, from hating each others guts when on site and also not, it more or less evolves to them... liking each other's company. byakko helps rashomon regarding seeing things in other perspectives, however blunt they are. and rashomon helps byakko with the social cues. neither of them are the talkers, but when its just them two, no words would be spoken and yet they just understand what they need.
now for no longer human, whom i shall call "null". null is... silent. the silent eerie character that rarely talks but is just... there. not much cues in his blank and expressionless face, and his posture is solemn and tight. he acts much similar to 15!dazai but more melancholic. he took the brunt of whatever happened in his and dazai's childhood, he's a lot more mature than that. his voice claim would be a deep voice, could be heard as monotone or angry to strangers, but with those who's familiar with him, it's just... calming. ex: the horse from the boy, the mole, the fox, and the horse. for the tainted sorrow, or more or less arahabaki... he's basically a chuuya but more destructive, and he doesn't want to slow down. but when it comes to null, its either that he has to be in pace with the other or he can and will drag them. they don't care. but of course, others wonder why he cares so much for null if its said that he doesnt care at all. now some might say that no one could manage to understand him, others would say that he might speak riddles. a sort of ethereal tone, and it's oddly pitched. possible ex: sphinx from dragons dogma 2. --- this one's different, how they interact. basically: arahabaki would try and egg null on, get them riled up, but for the sake of proving the man wrong in his own point. it's unfortunately that both null and dazai have that sense of not being human. and while chuuya has his own way in showing dazai he has a life worth living, arahabaki's situation is a more difficult one. because null's more observant and quiet, the man likely has several scenarios going through his head on what's to happen, and has definitely figured out what arahabaki's planning on doing and avoided it with some certain word of phrase. so, arahabaki turns those words against null. two can play that game. but while arahabaki helps null with that, null helps with arahabaki's destructive and explosive tendencies, managing to defuse a situation in mere seconds and get them out of trouble. they're looking out for each other, and they have their backs.

how are you doing lately yuuri? (everyones been asking about content so i just wanted to ask something that wasnt related to it. obviously no ill will towards them ❤❤)
I'm pretty great actually!
My 2024 didn't really kick off until the middle of March tbh, but now that I'm really rolling I'm feeling good about things.
Creatively I'm charged up and full of ideas. Every time I go to the well, my cup is full. That's the best case scenario for any artist, so I'm very happy. The bigger projects will take time but I am actively chipping away at them rather than letting them stew in my brain.
Am still head over heels for Aerith after playing FFVII Rebirth, and put some solid hours into Dragon's Dogma 2, so I've been a real gamer boy so far in 2024 lol
Cats good. House good. Life good.
Nothing really new going on. Had an appointment to get my passport, that was cool and my picture turned out pretty decent so I'm not mad at that.
I'll be seeing Nothing More and Hozier in concert this month, and Motionless in White next month. Excited about that for sure.
Life is definitely very content-centric right now but it doesn't feel like work and things are going well in terms of numbers. It's an ebb and flow usually but when both of those align it feels particularly rewarding!
I've streamlined and refined some of my processes when it comes to scripts, planning, etc. and that feels good after years of just sorta vomiting on the page and hoping everyone involved can figure it out lol
Had some really wonderful portfolio submissions when I called for them on Patreon! I have many people I need to reach out to and I feel really optimistic about some of the writers that reached out. Having some wonderful scripts to use when I need to get ahead of schedule and focus my own writing on the narrative projects is really going to take some pressure off of me. Script submissions have been helpful sometimes, but now that I have a bit more brain capacity I can take extra steps to really get hands on and work with select writers 1:1. Script submissions will still be a thing, and if you haven't submitted your portfolio and think you've got the sauce...go hit my business email!
In terms of art I just need to expand options when it comes to merch, one off thumbnails, etc. to help with the flow of things. With multiple major series coming, I'd like to be able to keep Jackie on those and not have to interrupt the flow by throwing a new thing at her every other week and end up messing with the schedule because I can't stop having ideas lol
So! A lot of great stuff going on. I'm feeling great and am looking forward to smashing the rest of this year!

so hey, Dragon's Dogma 2! let's take a look at the new trailer.
Tumblr media
on first glance i thought this was Gransys again, but this is most certainly not the case. we are in a different part of the continent! the ruins in the background look like the Bluemoon Tower, and while it'd be interesting if this new land was directly bordering Gransys, they are likely unrelated.
Tumblr media
a bold move to put khajiit into Dragon's Dogma lol. now my comparisons to The Elder Scrolls make more sense! i wonder if they're playable. DD didn't really have demi-humans, you could shape your character to look like an elf or dwarf, but they were technically still human.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
some shots of settlements. the buildings bear a striking resemblance to those found in Gran Soren, down to the red tiles on the rooftops. is this just a common architectural style in the continent or is there something else going on?
Tumblr media
this sort of dynamic interaction in combat is the cornerstone of Dragon's Dogma, and i'm very glad to see it taken to the next level in the sequel. environmental hazards were a thing in the first DD, but they were few and far between, so having more of that and having it factor into combat is a big thumbs up from me.
Tumblr media
i'm really hoping the new pawn system is good. it was a really ambitious mechanic that ultimately needed to be duct-taped together to work on a base level, but if you really dedicated yourself to training your pawn you would see the dividends. more in-the-field interactions like this is a welcome change, since in the original, if you wanted to change your pawn's inclinations, you'd either sit them down in a chair to change one (1) inclination a day, or force them to chug potions that cost a secondary currency that is somewhat annoying to obtain in the early game.
Tumblr media
seeing grigori looking exactly the same as he did in the first game was kind of a surprise, and really begs the question whether or not we're stuck in a cycle again.
ultimately, i wonder how many ideas from the original vision of Dragon's Dogma are going to be explored here. are we gonna go to the moon in this one finally?

do u have any game recommendations that have character creation? besides bg3 ofc
gonna be real i wouldnt recommend bg3 for a character creation game because you can only use preset faces ...... bro but if you mean it in an oc way......
i would recommend.............
heavily modded skyrim, if you don't wanna do it yourself use wabbajack, some of the modlists on there are designed for graphics or high end systems and have very pretty characters. there's also ones not like that with rougher characters or more vanilla characters. lots of choice! do not get into the community though, this is a warning
following on from that, any elder scrolls game - morrowind is the best and one of my all time favourite games
you can follow on from that with fallout if you like the setting. i recommend fallout 1 and 2 the most as i'm not the hugest fan of bethesdas fallout but that is not a common opinion that be a hot take
heavily modded final fantasy xiv, you can fully mod on the free trial version as far as i know - be warned this is an extremely slippery slope because it has a modding community to rival skyrim and many customisation mods are paid for however there are ways around that. anyway you can get mods from here, here and here as well as the nexus
elden ring, dark souls 3 - the other dark souls but those character creations look like dogshit ass but still fun to make ocs in imo.. demon souls if you own a ps5....... i do not
pillars of eternity, tyranny, while visually quite limiting the character creators are still very neat from a roleplay pov - tyrannys has a lil "post character creation" game you get to play where you make "post game" choices and i uh, used to play that all the time for fun without intent to keep playing.....
a good follow up to that would be dragon age, all three of them but specially origins, i used to play the origins and not continue the rest of the game for fun! now be warned all of these games suck terrible dick in terms of modding because it's awkward and annoying and easily broken! i recently replayed dao and dai and so much of that time was spent troubleshooting...... joyous
have to kind of mention mass effect after? but ur kind of always making the same character..... ive always struggled with mass effect personally. maybe its the setting?
you can also look at starfield since that's got actually a pretty decent cc but i did find it quite limiting. but i've not really played it for more than an hour cuz bg3 exists so i can't say much
back to crpgs, the two pathfinder games! again limiting on the character side but roleplay side very very strong. i've not played wotr but i have mutuals who act like it is gods gift to gaming and i believe them. i really liked the first!
the outer worlds could be a good choice, i really like that games aesthetic but it's another space game and i think we're seeing a pattern that i'm just not that into those. hm. it was bethesda style gaming in space before starfield exists with the personality of fallout, kind of ?
this ones going far out there but crusader kings iii has an insane character creation and my favourite ruler ever was this old witch woman cannibal who slowly but surely turned her whole corner of the globe into a witch worshipping cannibal cult. i miss her
age of wonders 4 has a really cool cc, you can even make dragons with the dlc like Actual dragons.... i have made so many characters in there and gave them their funny little lores.. age of wonders has real cool lore and it is Completely ignored by tumblr afaik and that sucks
encased is a really cool rpg it's another sci-fi-y one.. it isn't as polished as you might expect cuz it's a very ambitious game but a small indie studio but i would say if you enjoy fallout 1 + 2 you will enjoy encased
dragons dogma! you get to make two people in this just like in bg3! i made a lil girl and her big brother and i was so fucking emotional over them that i was crying constantly even when nothing was going on. i played dragons dogma to fucking death on the ps3 and i think its interesting and rich enough to sink ur teeth into
i have to mention greedfall as the owner of the greedfall url.... greedfall is very interesting as its a double A title akin to a dragon age game.. it might make one feel a tad uncomfortable because it comes across as colonialism the rpg but it does get very interesting and it has neat as hell characters and magic and big monsters who fuck hard
wasteland 3! kinda again has the fallout type of vibe it is violent and full of dark themes and twisted themes but its also extremely comical its true black humour at times and you get to make two characters again and you can even make TWO MORE CHARACTERS so i had a bunch of custom characters.. u can get really wild in the cc as well and builds are SUPER fun....... v good game
spellforce 3!!!!! i love this game, the cc is again like another crpg one but spellforce 3 has very deep lore spanning many games .. its not typical crpg in that its also like a strategy war game too but i think it does the mixture very well and i LOVEEEEEEEE the lore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
uh i forgot to mention divinity original sin 1/2 because .. bg3 should lead you right there but uh. play them both! the first is so good in coop i feel cuz of the natural banter between the protagonists. if you don't have friend the second is very good single player just. be warned i don't think it has good endings but the ride is worth it!! and divinity lore fucks hard. i also recommend divinity dragon commander because its so much fun
can i say stardew valley? mayhaps sun haven too? if ur crazy like me you can turn these into prime oc generators. also mods
oh, monster hunter world and by extension wild hearts. monster hunter world lets you make a cat and while ur character themselves doesn't get to do much story wise i did get very obsessed with my character and wanting them fight cool monsters. wild hearts is similar though your character does feel a bit more special- be warned this game is known for running like ass on most systems, its pretty good for me but be warned all the same
TEEHEES.... KENSHI!!!!!!!!!!!! i was holding back on mentioning kenshi but i can't. you can make a whole fucked up lil squad if u want. u got weird alien races. u got a billion fucking mods. u can have ur buddies limps removed and give them robot ones. u can make an army of weirdos. bro i got so invested in my kenshi squad i was writing FANFIC. i was dreaming of them. i was unable to sleep about them. i miss them so fucking much dude!! kenshi doesnt really have a story beyond what u make it. that shit is a SANDBOX.. and i love it so much. everyone should play kenshi. its kinda like rimworld if u want a comparison. i think its Perfect. the best game to exist ever (lie) its so wonderful....... man........its also broken as shit cuz its the most ambitious game to exist ever and it was made by 1 dude so
oh if u like anime games i have to mention code vein (souls like) and god eater (monster hunter like ?) they have very good ccs and i know people super into the lore and stuff. i only played code vein and i liked it a lot honestly
uhhh i mentioned 1 mmo so i should probably mention guild wars 2, the cc is very good, the whole games end game is about fashion and looking amazing. the lore is also super duper neat! i haven't played it for a long time now but i did play it on launch and i had a blast for a few years
if you like d&d i would recommend solasta! it has a very good cc i think honestly and it feels the most like this is d&d in a video game out of every game i've ever played, and it translates the system very and faithfully (as opposed to say bg3 who changed things for game reasons). solasta is also best with friends because its so in that vibe of this is a silly lil d&d party. its much fun
lol i got the block text limit popup
kotor 1 and 2, it might be hard to get into the lore and characters if you're not into star wars but i found it pretty ok to as not a huge star wars fan. i also think they deserve to be played despite that as well because they are fantastic rpgs and some of the best bioware ever made
vampire the masquerade bloodlines!!! i am not a vampire fan really, a small one, but this game captivated me.... very easy to get into making a character i feel and ur given enough to make characters that align different ways easily. the combat did not age well..... but the story and roleplay absolutely did
ok.. im gonna stop here.. but i will say give games like icewind dale and arcanum a chance.. look at old as hell crpgs and try them. this includes bg1+2 which i still need to play myself but will be soon! they are classics because their stories are fantastic, and shouldn't be missed out on!!!!!

Voracious Oblivion
Dragon's Dogma 2 fic Chapter 2: Day 10 WC: 2549 Rated: M, 18+
Summary:
Ghoul awakens on the side of a river after falling off of a flying griffin. She knows not of who she was and only a hollow phrase echoes within her mind; 'You are Arisen.' With her lost sense of self and now grappling with what it means to be an Arisen; she travels with her three new companions, Ambrosius, Erik, and Quil. Together they wander the lands putting together pieces of themselves and each other. Chapter Summary: Ghoul and The Boys make it to Vernworth and they are separated for a short period of time.
The story is based off of posts made on this blog of Ghoul and The Boys and is part of my Ghoul's Dogma series. Feature's Quil whom is @bearlytolerant OC and Ambrosius whom is @lisa-and-shadow OC. The second chapter can be read under the cut or on AO3.
Chapter 2: Day 10
“I see…so you are the one Sir Gregory spoke of.” The scruff solider said as he unrolled the document in front of Ghoul. Her companions had stopped following a few paces back and were watching as she spoke to the man who called himself Dann. “I shan’t impede you any longer. I will take you to Captain Brant.”
“Best if you let them wait here at the gate.” Dann warned right as Ghoul was about to wave for them to come forth. She narrowed her eyes at the solider and felt an uneasiness build in the back of her throat. Ghoul had been traveling many days to reach Vernworth and every one of those days had her grow accustom to having her companions by her side.
“Why?” She inquired without hiding her suspicious tone. There was a bit of grit in it as well she had hoped Dann heard.
“This isn’t pawn business.” Dann stated plainly before walking ahead. Ghoul looked back at Ambrosius, Erik, and Quil with curiosity. Is it easy to spot a pawn? She had not figured what made them so different from her aside from a few obvious aspects like in their physicality. They spoke like any other person she had run into. Walked mostly like people they’d pass on the roads. Bled like she did. She only had accepted that they were pawns by their word though she still was not entirely sure what that had meant.
“How…how do you know they are pawns?” She asked when she caught up to Dann. He had his focus on the destination and seemed to effortlessly walk through the crowded gate entrance.
“Isn’t it obvious?” He gruffed sounding as if she asked a stupid question.
“No.” She murmured defensively and her eyes were on her feet as she thought what could make them any different than humans. The thought was overwhelming her mind and it was not until the last second, she noticed the door that Dann had stopped at. His messy brown beard and hair covered a lot of his face but not enough to hide his accosted expression.
“Tis the look in their eye.” His finger pointed at his own eye and his words had a hesitance as if he thought she was testing him. “The way they wade through our lands and our cities as if they have always been here but speak of foreign imaginings. Tis unsettling to most.”
Dann let his words sink in and he nodded at her as if to further his persuasions. When Ghoul did not respond he proceeded to open the wooden door in front of them that led into a stoney dimly lit room. She was not sure what to say or how to respond. Ghoul mulled over his words and wondered if she had spoken a foreign idea. Perhaps he was the one who was mistaken. Another moment where her loss of memory seemed to be more of a curse than a blessing. She pushed it down and moved forward into the guard keep in front of Dann. The door was closed behind her and it was a gesture that felt suffocating. The further she was from the other three the more insecure she felt about herself.
Ghoul strained her eyes to see who the other figures in the room were and it was hard to tell. She counted at least three outlines and the one in the middle had a tall posture with a long sword. His stance and position made her consider that this was possibly the man she was told to meet.
“I was informed of your coming, would-be arisen.” The man’s voice was deep and commanding. She concluded that the dark and tall man in front of her was indeed Captain Brant. His build was intimidating even if he was not as large and mighty as the three men she traveled with. Silently she tried to imagine ways to take him down if this secluded situation led to that possibility. The restricting pressure inside her core yanked at an invisible connection, one she thought could possibly be her anxiousness to be near those she had grown familiar with. She silently cursed herself for growing comfortable of being around others. The other two figures who shared the room with Captain Brant and her slowly came into picture as her eyes adjusted to the candle light. Judging by their armor and sigils they were accompanying soldiers on guard.
“As decreed by the great will of our world there can only be one.” Captain Brant’s boots echoed in the chamber as he begun to circle around her. His eyes were taking in every inch of her stature, form, weight, anything that could give him more information than he already was given. It made Ghoul feel the need to become defensive another thought to swallow for now.
“That Arisen now resides within the palace. Indeed, he is our Sovran and rightful ruler.” Brant completed his circle, gesturing up at the ceiling in what she assumed was the direction of the palace and now stood before her. His eyes narrowed and fixed on her golden eyes. “Yet, there are several witnesses that could attest to you summoning a pawn through a riftstone.”
“It was mere accident.” Ghoul quickly interrupted him. She had a feeling this was either going to end with her in gaol or more requests to do on her part. Neither were outcomes she wanted and she merely planned to show up like advised in hopes perhaps someone could aid her in retrieving the memories she had lost. “I summoned no one. More akin to…. they appeared and decided to follow me.”
“Aye, then it follows that you are a mere ruffian and is naught but a pretender.” Captain Brant’s arms were crossed and he seemed decided on this matter. She did not want to argue but neither did she want to be accused of claiming something she hadn’t.
“Listen, I claim nothing.” Ghoul held her hands up as to surrender the idea before rambling over herself. “I am just doing what I was told. I am here to get my memories restored nothing more. Those supposed pawns chose to follow me. I have told them multiple times to leave me be. In fact, I even managed to push one and ran yet they still caught up to me. I am just looking-.”
“Enough!” His voice boomed in the stoney room making even his own guards look up after flinching. Ghoul’s hands moved up towards her daggers, she was no longer sure that she would be able to walk peacefully away. His yelling was enough to make her body tense with anticipation for battle. If she could summon pawns why were her companions not busting down the door to come steal her out of this?
“You must submit to questioning.” He ordered resolutely. Captain Brant’s face remained neutral even though his words sounded threatening, she noticed his eyes were now fixed on her hands where her fingers hoovered over her blade. “If you value your life, you will not attempt to flee.”
The captain waited till Ghoul’s hand relaxed against her side before he walked towards another door within the room. She was growing weary of being in such a dark and muggy shelter and hoped she would be able to convince the captain she was no threat and she did not plan to be, least unless she had to become one. He opened the door and gestured his arm for her to walk inside first. Ghoul looked over her shoulder at the other two guards and tried to hide her nervousness.
“I shall conduct the interrogation myself. Stand to watch outside.” He ordered at the men she was looking at and there was an internal debate inside her on whether that would be a relief to be alone with him or an even bigger mistake on her part.
-x-x-x-x-
The sun was beating down on his golden ruffled hair as he sat in the lush grass, flowers twiddling through his fingers. His spot was on the other side of the wall of Vernworth along with Quil sitting under a tree and Ambrosius leaning on the brick wall not too far from one another. The guard that had taken their Arisen into the city was back and on duty once again but to the party’s surprise he was missing Ghoul.
He felt a clinch in his jaw tighten as is impatience grew. Erik never cared to wait too long and the drowning heat from the sun made the wait feel extensive. He tried to rearrange his long legs to cross in a different position but nothing felt comfortable for him. Still, he tore small flowers out of the ground around him and played with them between his fingers to distract himself. There was a moment he considered saying something but as soon as he parted his lips to speak, he closed them tightly into a pressed line once again.
“Out with it, Erik.” Quil finally spoke as his attentions still focused on the journal that was within his lap. His sliver hair was tied neatly back and his robes hung loosely off of his body, Quil looked incredibly cool and calm unlike Erik felt.
“Are you sure that is what you want?” Ambrosius snorted from his position before rearranging his posture to lean differently on the stone wall. Ambrosius’ cat eyes were impartial and focused on their surroundings but there was a slight smirk that subtly mocked Erik’s impatience. Erik knew he was known to rush ahead and make rash decisions but he knew his worries were not without cause. The cause was mostly due to him still being accustomed to their new situation and the odd familiarity that made everything predictable yet estranged.
“She is taking longer than one would expect.” He took in a deep breath before releasing it and allowing some tension to flee from his shoulders.
“We must not hurry the Arisen. There is no point in rushing things.” Quil murmured with nonchalance. His pen was continuously sweeping across the pages and Erik was unable to deduct whether the comrade was drawing yet again or writing more into his personal journal. There were only small moments where he caught a glimpse of the pages and they normally were a mixture of things they had seen on their journey along with small portraits. Once he speculated one of the drawings were of himself but he never dared to ask Quil.
“It feels as if the wait has been longer this time.” Erik plucked a new flower and began to batter it around between his fingers, twiddling some more to occupy his worries.
“This time?” The sound of Quil’s scribbling had ceased and when Erik looked over at him, he noticed the particular look he was giving. It was one he had seen before when he had brought up the same subject. The cool and knowing confidence that warned for Erik not to think too deeply of it.
“Yes. This. Time.” Erik avoided his sarcasm from slipping and tried to sound as serious as he meant to be. It was hard to do considering he was used to being the lighter hearted one of the group.
Quil closed his journal and held it tightly within his lap as his eyes drifted off into the hay fields. There was even more distance between Quil and them in that moment but he seemed to ground himself with a light sigh before answering Erik.
“Every cycle is different Erik.” His silver eyes reflected a gentleness that felt warmer even if it was something expected from Quil. “This is only your second have patience, expect things to change even when they do not seem they will.”
There was a small grunt of agreement from Ambro and Erik looked down at his hands for a moment. He mulled over everything that could possibly happen and there was hollow feeling when he thought of the infinity of paths that all led to one specific and horrific end, he did not wish to see her relive. His ivy blue eyes glared into the ground before him and he wished for a moment he could shoot icy daggers out of them. The building impatience within him was only getting heavier even after their short discussion.
“Careful now, Erik,” Ambrosius interrupted his flooding thoughts with his snarky feline chuckle. “You might have smoke rising from your ears if you look at those rocks any harder. If you are trying to imagine who is denser between the two, I can give you the answer.”
“Perhaps you’d prefer to test whose steel is denser, my brother in arms?” Erik retorted quickly at the insult; his frustrations instantly cured with the motivation to out best his superior in the Warrior vocation. He was up to his feet and ready to grab his blade within a word.
“Not here. Not now.” Quil’s voice deepened with his stern warning.
“Quil is right. Lest we let you make a fool out of yourself in front of the good people of Vernworth.” Ambrosius egged more as he stood on his feet just as ready to draw a blade as quickly as Erik was.
“Insults aside, Erik you shouldn’t allow your frustrations to take a hold over yourself.” Quil was writing once again within his journal, his scribbling less fanatic and his attention torn between what he was doing and the two warriors quarreling at hand. “She will be back within time and if she is not we can find her if the need arises.”
“It doesn’t concern either of you that she has completely lost herself?” Erik’s true feelings started to tumble out. “Is that common among the others?”
He had tried to keep himself contain but it seems his own nature was getting the best of him. Erik’s body starting to feel rigid and an itch to fight was growing. Quil looked up again watching the slight heaving in Erik’s chest as Erik’s anger and frustration was starting to rise.
“No.”
“Just yours.” Ambrosius chided Erik. “I guess falling from the sky like she did she must have hit her head harder than most.”
“Know what we do of her that isn’t too far fetch of this Arisen.” Ambrosius added for an extra umph. “Most remember when they arrive to Melve, least the ones I have had to serve.”
“Indeed.” Quil added with remorse.
“She is currently your master as well.” Erik’s teeth grinded from the revelation. He grew tired of being the last in the know between the three of them. How was he supposed to be a successful guiding pawn if all he knew was the end, he was leading them too? How were they so nonchalant about their circumstances? His fists tightened into a ball and he felt the strain of his knuckles whitening.
“Tis as you say.” Ambrosius reframed from his initial sardonic tones. “Knowing what we do does not interfere with her journey. It is our duty to guide and accompany the Arisen. Even if our Arisen is…odd. And short in stature.” Erik gave Ambrosius another glare; his protective feelings pooling over into wanting to shield her from words she cannot even hear.

It's been nearly half a year now since I pledged to play almost exclusively on Steam Deck when it comes to PC gaming out of spite of my Steam Year in Review.
So far, it's been quite exciting fiddling with the proverbial knobs and doodads to try and get games running and feeling a sense of rush when I got a game to run at a stable framerate.
Hell, I know I might end up as that guy in the pictures with all the swords pointing at him with the smug look on his face but I've begun to appreciate 30 FPS again. Is it ideal? Not particularly, 60 will always feel better but in some situations, playing at 30 is no big deal. I mean, I did play HELLDIVERS 2 for a while averaging 23-30 FPS per mission before I, well, burned out.
Most of my usual haunt games ran well which is a plus and while it could handle most of the bigger hitting games such as the aforementioned HD2, Dragon's Dogma 2 proved to be quite the insurmountable obstacle.
What I mean is that the framerate isn't stable enough to be worth trying. Now, saying that, the FPS for that game is getting better, I just hope Capcom could, you know, finish up the performance optimizations so I can know for sure if it'll work. I just want the framerate to remain steady, I'll take 20-25 if I have to!
Docked experience is semi-decent, it's not perfect, but it's getting there, and it does work with my capture card which is a huge plus even though it does sometimes freeze up or stop sending sound for inexplicable reasons.
I still wish I could play certain games on my Deck that I've been walled off of but I'll take what I can get. I'm having a good time with the stuff I got already and the library of games I have is pretty big.
I wonder what my Steam in Review will look like at the end of all this? I'm looking forward to seeing that giant pie slice labelled "Steam Deck"!

WIP whenever because I wanna show I'm still alive
I think I'm not really active right now, but I'm still alive.
I just think that my energy for CP is not really present right now. Its been 4 years of 24/7 hype and I think right now I'm just overfilled with it?
My love for Jackie still exists and I will continue my fanfic because I just have too much fun with it. Right now I'm writing chapter 55.
Here is a little piece of Chapter 55 of "Bringing back the sun"
His big, strong arms that hugged her tightly while she sat on his lap were like a weighted blanked she needed right now and his big member inside of her was the distraction she wished for. Today none of them were in the mood for dirty talk and he knew that she probably wouldn’t want to hear sweet praises about how good she feelt. What she needed today was distraction and he would do his best to make it happen. If she was honest, it surprised her how bad she felt. She pushed multiple people through the death of their friend, son, brother, lover, not ever feeling like falling into a pit. She even did the unthinkable till then and slept with Vincent. But right now, the pain was different. She felt sluggish and unmotivated and just wished for an empty mind. “Val, cumming.” He groaned, making sure he would thrust even deeper while he filled her insides. His heavy breathing as his head rested between her breasts made her feel sorry for her lover. The whole day he tried to take her mind off things, to give her a good time. It did work okay, but never had she reached an orgasm today while he had several. “Damn, doll… You’re hard to please today.” His word seemed like a complain, but his eyes told her that he was sorry that he couldn’t give her the release she was looking for. She gave him a soft smile back before kissing his already dry lips. “The only thing that’s really hard today is your dick. How co- Don’t tell me you took something.” He shrugged with flushed cheeks. “Had to make sure to give you a good time for longer than a round. I know you need it…” The ripperdoc might not be the youngest anymore, but he was always proud that he can last three rounds on a good day. He never liked the thought that he had to take something to help his manhood rise or stay long enough, it was a big gesture of his love that he prepared like that.
And on the side (like... really... I have both open) I write on my "Dragon's Dogma 2" fanfic. I'm not sure yet how much it will follow the original story, but I have a few things I want to change up so it will be slightly different.
This is a warning that there are spoiler in the text below. Like I said, its a bit changed up from the original story but I gave you a warning so you can't give me a bad time. ♥
I would love to keep the fancy way of speaking like they do in the game, but sadly english isn't my first language and I would probably get everything wrong. So I will try to keep it in an elegant formal way that I think could come close, orienting on the speech pattern ingame.
The story has no title yet btw so... Here is the start of the Dragon's Dogma 2 fanfic without a name.
It was as if someone had lightened up a candle in a dark room in the middle of the night. As if she had suddenly come into existence out of thin air. Looking around she found out that a man with a larger build was speaking to her in rude manners. Telling her that she had too much of willpower in her eyes and that he didn’t like it. That there was life in her eyes, the opposite of the one her kind should have who are, taken by his words, are “lifeless like that of a corpse.” By the time he had opened the cell, she wasn’t able to recall what her emotions were this moment or how she should feel. There was no fear, there was no happiness, the only thing that filled her mind was confusion and curiosity of what was going on as she followed close behind the man. On their way, he kept talking, but her attention was captured by the tunnel they went through and wondered how it came that they hollowed out this way just to build a prison at the end of it. Was she a prisoner? What had she done? Neither her hands, nor her feet were restrained, perhaps she wasn’t one. Was she a slave? If yes, how long has she been? A sudden realization hit her while stumbling over the uneven, cold ground with bare feet: She didn’t know her name or any other thing about her past. Where should be memories was only a deep, empty void. Her emotion begun to set in the further they followed their path. A mix of fear and uneasiness, wondering what would happen to her should they come to the other side of it. The bright light of the sun blinded her as she made her first steps into the world she seemed to have forgotten about to live in. The warmth of it was like a spell that filled her body with energy and optimism as it was telling her that everything will be okay. Whatever it was that she had to do, she will take it and try to make the best out of it.
I can't wait to get to the point where she meets Jackie. I'm dying to write this scene.

My dad loves playing videogames with me and my brother during weekends and we ended up getting him hooked on Dragon's Dogma lol. Some of his funniest takes on the game (1 and 2):
On pawns: "So they're like, happy serving my character right? I hope I'm not being mean to them. I don't like being mean to my friends."
On character customization: "I wanna make him look like me when I was younger and had longer hair. I used to have long hair and now my hair is gone. (Sigh)"
On cyclopses: "It's like a messed up elephant with an eye where the nose should be! I guess they have hands so they don't need a trunk. How do they smell anyway? It would be weird for something to just not be able to smell."
On chimeras: "Why a goat? Like lions are top predators and snakes are venomous. Couldn't they make the third head like, something equally fierce like an eagle or wolf or something?"
On the Sphinx: "I hope we don't have to kill her. She's actually kinda cute, in a creepy way sure, but still. Can we be friends instead?"
On drakes: "Knowing a male duck is called a drake makes it hard to take them too seriously."
On the cockatrice: *unintelligible amused wheezing after one of the pawns says the 'it has the head of a cock!' line*
I guess Nonnie's Dad isn't familiar with chimeras in actual mythology including a goat's head, heh! Also, thank you Nonnie's Dad, because now I'm picturing a dragon with a corkscrew penis.
Also, the undead talk... in DD1/Dark Arisen, you can hear them mumbling about things in life, like a lady undead will wonder about her baby... and in DD2, a pawn just showed me a cave full of undead and in a quiet moment heard mumbling from somewhere: "don't want to die... so hungry..." followed by meaty chewing. Creepy. At the same time, I'm waiting for one of them to do the classic Resident Evil "itchy... tasty..."

the deed is done! after 84 hours, finally got through the true ending in dragon's dogma 2. as a new dragon's dogma fan, i gotta say...what an amazing game, loved almost every minute of it, and despite its many flaws, it's in my top favorite games for sure now that i saw the ending mostly did not disappoint and had some time now to think about it. there's been a few other open world games where i've spent 60+ hours playing them only for me to realize that wow, i did not have a good time at all with this and don't ever want to touch them again, but dd2 is definitely not of them. i honestly can't remember the last game i played that just had such a fucking grip on me, maybe horizon zero dawn which is like in my ultimate games ever: if i wasn't playing dd2, i was thinking of what i was going to do once the weekend came around and i'd be able to play it again. in fact, i was thinking of going back to granblue fantasy relink after this but i think i'm just gonna have to do ng+ to get some of the quests i missed + increase my pawn affinity (yes i know i'm a bad arisen lol).
i think i saw someone else say that it's hard to explain why they love this game because my god it has its flaws, but i'm gonna try to explain in my usual long-ass junk thoughts below, with endgame spoilers:
ok first of all, the gameplay and the vocations. holy shit. not gonna lie, i was at first a bit intimidated by this game because it seemed elden ring-ish and that game never really got my attention because of people saying how hard it is etc so i just never bothered to play it. it took a bit for me to get the hang of dd2's gameplay because i mostly just stick to jrpgs like tales, xenoblade or games like horizon, tomb raider which...aren't really hard games at all? so personally this was a pretty big switch for me. even if at first i was getting beat up by simple goblins, i was enjoying the hell out of it. i stuck with fighter for like...the first 45ish hours because i like being at the front of the fights and the use of the shield provided me a way to defend myself from attacks since there isn't really a dodge button here so it's what made me feel most comfortable. but man, exploring the other vocations and Seeing Number Go Up to maxing out your discipline in them is probably what kept the gameplay so fresh for me even though i pretty much went through the overworld twice: once normally, then another time when i realized i was close to the "first" ending and i was like oh shit better go back and do everything else that i might have missed.
but yeah, pretty much of the four vocations that i tried (fighter, archer, magick archer, mystic spearhand), the gameplay just felt so fluid and fun even when i was fighting my 10th griffin or my umpteenth goblin swarm. finding different ways to fight off enemies even as i was towards the end of the game is probably what made me not feel so bored with it. like, i remember i had just switched to MS and i ran into a drake, so even though i had defeated one as an archer and another time as a mystick archer, going against this one as a mystic spearhand felt like a new experience since i obviously couldn't do the same type of attacks i had done before! really glad i got out of my comfort zone of just sticking with fighter to explore some of the other vocations.
and speaking of the gameplay, i absolutely loved the pawn system. being able to have your own customizable companion that follows you along your journey and is loyal to you no matter what is just such a great concept, and on top of that, you get to also form bonds with other people's pawns as you're forming your own party! i'd get so sad when i'd have to dismiss a pawn that i had been traveling with for weeks in-game, and even more so that when i tried to rehire them, they completely changed vocations so i couldn't get them to rejoin my party since they were no longer what i'm looking for :( also, i had been wondering how people were getting their pawns to blush with them, which i mean for mine i didn't really mind because my main pawn was male and it seemed like some people wanted their pawns to be romanceable so i was like eh that's fine, that's not what i'm going for. HOWEVER it looks like if your pawn affinity is high enough, you get a slightly different speech from your pawn at the end when they help you kill the dragon! so that's also a really neat detail that the developers added, so i'm for sure gonna go for that since oof, when my main pawn was delivering his speech at the end....it was breaking my heart but i was so happy for him that he had gained some free will of his own, so hell yeah i wanna see what other things he says at the end with a high enough affinity!
the overworld exploration. ok, i don't know what it is about this overworld that made exploring every single corner and (almost) every single cave a joy to explore. having played botw/totk i hated the overworld so much because of how empty and unrewarding it felt, and how repetitive the caves got. i'm not saying that dd2's overworld is perfect, but seeing a golden trove beetle stuck to a tree of a ledge or finding a ferrystone at the end of a cave felt more rewarding than whatever the hell totk tried to do. i will say though that towards the end it was a bit disappointing how the treasure chests with weapons were containing equipment that was weaker than i already had, but i mean, considering i went through the overworld twice, i think that one is on me. i know some people complain how..."narrow" or "restricted" the exploration feels sometimes because at times you're just walking down a path and there's just huge cliffs on either side of you so you don't really get like to see an expansive view of the overworld, but honestly that never really crossed my mind. i actually didn't discover the elves' home until towards the game, even as i was making my way to it, i was just looking around taking in my surroundings because of how new and fresh it felt to me.
sidequests!!! ok this is another thing i've heard people complain about and how "shallow" they seem and i'm like....excuse me? did we play the same sidequests??? sidequests are like one of the things i love the most about any game (huge xenoblade x fan where the sidequests make the most content of the game), so having come from playing big games like granblue fantasy relink, botw/totk, xenoblade 2&3 where the sidequests are just soooo fucking boring, they make no attempt at getting me to care about the NPCs involved, have no interesting sidestories, or are just boring fetch quests, dd2's sidequests were a breath of fresh air.
like, are the people complaining about the sidequests just not care about daphne being abandoned as a child and now living in the slums but she actually has a twin rich brother (oh and seeing the maid that brought this all up now in the slums because she was fired for it?? oof!!), that one nun that was poisoning her patients at the giving hand under the guise of helping them, saving dorieann and then helping her save the sacred arbor (i'm sad i left this sidequest for last!), ulrika being fucking chased out of her village and being unjustly blamed for the dragon attacks (this part pissed me off soooo much and i was so happy to go back and kick all of their asses!!!), pawns being sold off to battahl via some weird human trafficking oxcart, helping hugo lead a more honest life after being imprisoned for having been part of that one desert gang, OH that one girl that wanted to learn magic and then loses control and almost kills her fucking grandma?? WILHELMINA'S SIDEQUEST??? (honestly one of my favorite sidequests in a game ever tbh, that end reveal was just too damn good) I mean i can go on and on!! SURE not all sidequests are winners and some are more shallow than others, but i'll be damned if the majority of these sidequests didn't have me invested in the NPCs and i'd be devastated if i were to mess them up somehow. so yeah, i mean i can maybe see them complaining that some characters' sidequests should have been more developed, but i think that takes me to my next point...
the story. i gotta say, the first part of the game's story just had me hooked and i couldn't wait to see what was going to happen. the whole thing with disa's plot and the false arisen and you trying to uncover the truth with captain brant's help so you could take your rightful place as the sovran, like...i was invested! but then like many people rightfully complain, once the coronation happens and you get to battahl, all of this kind of....falls off?? like it doesn't really matter anymore idk? i was so shocked when i opened that one door that phaseus goes through and the pathfinder was like "oh yeah go here and that's where you'll find your journey's end" i was like no way! over so soon? i mean, again, as an xcx fan, i'm fine with like, stories being interesting enough that keep you engaged but are not fully fleshed out, the gameplay and the sidequests in dd2 were enough to keep me playing. but like, it's kind of weird that nadinia takes like, a third of the game's coverart and i felt like we barely got to know her or that she was relevant enough for the story?? there were like what, two sidequests she was involved? the one where you find out who is trying to kill her, and then when you are guiding her in vernworth. i just loved her design and i was looking forward to seeing how else she would fit in all of this. same with ulrika, after you finish her sidequest, for someone i thought was going to be more important to the story, she really does disappear after you make her the chief of harve village. hell, apparently her whole quest is missable if you don't go back to melve to help out with the dragon fight! so i mean, yeah there's a lot of characters and story plots that i feel could have been more fleshed out, and the whole world lore didn't really click in for me until i got to....
the ending and the postgame world. man, that really made sense on how or why the pathfinder was able to change ambrosia's mind about handing over the godsbane sword so quickly. i was so confused by that and it honestly annoyed me cus i was like, what the hell, are the developers that lazy?? but no!! turns out we were just all characters in the pathfinder's little fan fiction world where everyone had a specific role and path to play in his little game!!!! fuck!!!! rothais my guy!!! this honestly just blew me away, no wonder all his victories and accomplishments felt empty after finding this out!! it was all a game to the pathfinder! defeating the dragon and becoming the sovran would have been a meaningless victory! i fucking LOVED how the pathfinder takes you back to your battle with the dragon to make you realize hey, you're stuck in a loop unless you do something different, which the dragon alludes to when you take too long to figure it out and he says "you're too late...!" and the fight begins again. damn, i just, love it when games do shit like this. i have to admit i had to look up what i had to do after fighting the dragon twice. i knew i had to do something while flying with the dragon because of the heartbeat, but i had completely forgotten i had the godsbane still with me (and thought it was weird how it only highlighted the item menu!).
and like the whole feeling of being in the postgame world just took me back to my majora's mask days, and i fucking loved it. the world is ending and you have to evacuate everyone from the major towns you've visited, and apparently you only have a limited time to get it done because the fog will slowly consume the towns if you rest for too long. and talking to some of the people trying to get them to evacuate as they're still going about their daily lives and they're like, no, i refuse to, let the world end i don't care!! so majora's mask, amazing. really liked the one where henrique didn't want to evacuate until you saved the enslaved pawns as well....ugh so good! apparently once you defeat the last dragon from the beams, the fog will no longer advance and you can explore the unmoored world freely, but honestly, since i had already gone through the overworld twice, i had no intention of grinding my equipment and trying to get "the best gear" because honestly, some of that endgame gear is kind of ugly lol.
really enjoyed the new dragon boss fights at the end though because being at lv 60 even without all of my gear leveled up or dragonforged, the giant bosses or the drakes weren't really as threatening as before and these new ones gave me something more challenging and interesting again! and don't get me started on how badass it was to see my pawn overtake the talos and kill a dragon for me...that moment really had me with my mouth agape and just made me go "wow, this game is amazing" for the nth time. i think in ng+ once i get to the unmoored world, now that i know that the timer kind of stops with the last dragon defeated, i'll explore a bit more and see how much tougher the new enemy varieties are. :)
one thing i didn't like though and i think it goes back to my story complaints from before is that like, ok you have to evacuate all of the leaders you've interacted with. i immediately warped to harve after talking with rothais because i was like ok ulrika my girl, let's get you and your people the hell out of here, do you not see the sky!! but....no...? she's supposedly one of the major romanceable characters but there's no quest to evacuate her and her people so...i guess just forget about the harve village? hello? she IS technically a leader so i don't know why this just wasn't a choice. oh wait, i guess because her whole sidequest is missable so they didn't want to make the true ending missable in case you couldn't evacuate harve...? ahhh who knows. but this really annoyed me lol.
also, not sure why everyone is saying or concluding that both the arisen and your pawn are dead as part of the true ending. i mean, ok, whatever, i'm used to bittersweet endings and i don't know enough about the dragon's dogma games lore to know more, but honestly i'm choosing to believe that my character and her pawn got washed up in a remote island but will come back and hence why your highest affinity character is looking off at the ocean :) or am i thinking about xcx again... either way, that ending cutscene of the old man sailing out seemed like dlc teaser or something so we'll see what comes out!
alright this is getting kinda long so just gonna finish it off with a couple of other things i didn't like about the game:
the music?? i mean, coming from gbf relink which has such a banger soundtrack, not sure there is much to say from the music department in dd2. the main theme though? fucking amazing. i get so pumped up when it plays when you choose the game in the ps5 main screen or in the proper title screen, and i even got a little teary eyed at the ending theme. but honestly, nothing much else to be impressed here. i might change my mind once i give the ost a proper listen but yeah, just some initial thoughts.
enemy variety. took me a while to notice but, for such a big overworld and where the world is just so dense with enemies, the enemy variety in this game is.....not so great. i think i saw someone say that there are like 26 enemies in total? with goblins, wolves, harpies, saurians, and bandits being the most common that you'll encounter during your travels. it really is annoying when you're trying to get from one place to another and you just keep getting ganged up by mobs that really will just not let up on you even if you run away from them. and apparently there weren't really any new enemies coming from dd1/da so...it's really baffling
the fast travel. with how much back and forth some of these quests require you do, people's complaints about the fast travel options in this game are valid. i wish they would give you an eternal ferrystone as part of the ng+ cus yeah, oxcarts aren't foolproof from being destroyed by enemies that attack you on your way to your destination, and honestly i'm glad i saved my ferrystones for the postgame world because i just was NOT going to be walking about everywhere in the unmoored world or w/e. i really do wonder how much time from my 84 hours was just spent walking to and from destinations. i read this comment elsewhere but this game really doesn't respect your time as a player so i'm glad i got to play a big part of it during my week off work.
romanceable companions. look, as a lesbian i can't complain that the two major romanceable companions are both women, but i do feel bad for people who wanted to romance captain brant or literally any other male NPC and have more fleshed out romance scenes like we got for ulrika and wilhelmina. even so, i mean, it really does suck that the game makes this choice not matter in the end? i got both ulrika's and wilhelmina's romance scenes and after wilhelmina disappears i was going for ulrika, but in the end neither of them ended up being my highest affinity character and instead i have gywndlr of all people looking out to the ocean in the ending cutscene. and that's really it i mean, your highest affinity character has no bearing whatsoever in the story except if they're there clutched by the dragon's hand and the ocean scene. i mean, not to talk about an early 2000s game, but tales of symphonia did such an amazing job with its affinity system that i still have not played another game that takes your choice for your highest affinity character matter so much in the main story plot. (haven't played bg3 so please don't come after me--although if you made it this far then thank you i guess???) so, while yes the ulrika/wilhelmina scenes are cool, the concept of romanceable/high affinity characters just felt underwhelming when compared to a 20 year old game.
whew!!! ok i didn't except this to be so long but considering how, yes despite all of the flaws regarding the enemies and the fast traveling and the overworld and the affinity system and the story and underused plot points and seemingly rushed content....i still fucking love this game and can't wait to do a ng+ run of it and just catch all of the references that i missed (at the very beginning the dragon already spells it out that you need to like kill your soul and body to break the curse and reveal the true world....love it!!!). i don't know if i'll ever play dd1/da considering i've heard people say that the gameplay is a bit rougher and the pawns not as....great?? idk but for now i can't wait to do some fanart of this game and will look forward to any updates/dlc that capcom releases for it. <3

The Red Devil’s Chronicles: Jan. 2021 Devil May Cry Updates: Brad V, Collabs, Etc.
Tumblr media
Hey, how's it going? Hope you all had a wonderful and safe new year, and hope 2021's been nice to y'all so far. Just a heads up, all of the 2019 journals in my Deviantart group will be deleted any day this year to clean up how many journals there are there, plus feeling that there's no need for older news updates. Here are all of January 2021′s Devil May Cry news updates I’ve compiled: 1. HYDE Defeat music video, featuring Devil May Cry V. b) Speaking of music, Reddit sang Bury The Light. c) Alex Moukala's interview with Casey Edwards about Bury The Light. 2. Hideaki Itsuno teases another game in the works. 3. More updates for the Pinnacle of Combat Mobile game such as: a) Vergil concept. b) Beowulf and Kalina Ann showcase. c) Lady's costume set. 4. Griffon in Devil May Cry V's voice actor Brad Venable passes away. 5. Ali Express is making the Dante and Vergil Asmus Toys figures as their models for dolls' clothing. 6. The CapCom Café event has surfaced again with more amazing winter art. 7. Last Cloudia, featuring Devil May Cry V. 8. All 3 covers for the Visions of V manga series. b) Speaking of which, it's updated again. 9. Journalists have decided to target Dante's voice Reuben Langdon once again by completely taking a Tweet (now deleted) out of context (Full conversation and info on what happened in my Facebook post here).
My Thoughts On These Updates:
1. Lovely stuff we've got goin' on with the music stuff. 2. Wonder what Itsuno's  next project will be? My guesses are Dragon's Dogma 2, Devil May Cry 6, a Devil May Cry game remake, or a new unknown game title. Back in March 2020, there was the update about how a former Platinum Games CEO is collaborating with CapCom on a huge remake project (Could be RE4 Remake or a Devil May Cry one). And back in May 2020, CapCom plans to release major new titles by this year, including celebrating an anniversary of a Devil May Cry game (stated at end of article), it is DMC1's 20th anniversary after all. Only one way to find out. 3. It's about time Yunchang games released more development content for Pinnacle of Combat and not any other promotional work, which is what they've done for awhile. These updates are quite nice. 4. May Brad V rest in peace...It's been a bash hearing him voicing as Griffon in DMCV. It's always heart-breaking hearing the passing of young, talented individuals. 5. Foreign marketplace sites can be so hilarious at times with their advertising. Gotta admit that Dante looks pretty nice in that getup, though. 6. I love the new art work that the CapCom Café's been coming out with as of late. It shows more character with the characters. 7. Never heard of Last Cloudia, but it's nice that the Devil May Cry characters are once again featuring in other game titles. 8. I always enjoy new updates of the Visions of V manga series. Still curious how long it's gonna go on for. It's definitely going longer than the DMC3 manga series did. It sucks that the DMC3 manga didn't finish, but at the same time I feel it's for the best. The concept of that particular series was strange (both story and dialogue-wise), and I feel like the artist got pressured a little too much when it came to deadlines and details, which explains how some of the art work looked a tad unfinished in that one. 9. It makes me upset how low journalists will go to make someone look bad by taking something these celebrities say completely out of context, then twisting their words around to get their fans riled up in an attempt to cancel them. And for what purpose? Glad that article got deleted, because what were they thinking? (You can still see the article's title, even when searching on Google, but when you click on the link the page doesn't exist.) If you talk to Reuben yourself and get to know him, he is one awesome guy despite how some of his views can be questionable. This isn't the only time journalists went after Reuben and twisted his words around to make him look bad (scroll to the Reuben Langdon bit in article). It's really sad that some Devil May Cry fans even believed everything those journalists said, and went as far as saying, "Reuben needs to be canceled for this", or "I don't want him playing as Dante anymore because of this". One of the big elite players even stated on Twitter, "CapCom will cancel Reuben before Cancel Culture gets to him". I really hope nothing bad happens with his career at CapCom. He's a nice addition there, and part of CapCom wouldn't be what they are without him on the team.

Heroes characterisation analysis time again, with Seiros bcs i’m trash and I was wondering maybe Seiros’d reveal some stuff about the WoH
Inoue!Seiros wise, Seiros is genki!Rhea
I pointed out in a different post, but I’ll forever regret not being able to have a dual audio. Someone on redshit pointed out how Inoue feels too soft and feminine (?) for Seiros, but for me, it’s the contrary. Leigh!Seiros sounds so monotone.
@ultrakatua : you said something about directions given to the VA, and I’m pretty sure Inoue got a different one from Leigh, just by looking at the lvl 40 quote localised Seiros goes :
OG!Seiros?
Your kind are frail, ignorant creatures, incapable of accomplishing anything without the guidance of the goddess.
...Or so I had thought. But I have been forced to realize, meeting the Heroes here, that I was wrong.
You in particular stand apart as well... You are different from the rest. Special in some way.
My instincts are not often wrong...
If you continue to fight for this world, I will fight by your side, as a warrior. As an equal.
And I know the goddess will be watching over you as well.
Through Google Translate (i know) the localised “my instincts are not often wrong” was originally “ Fufu ... My intuition is right, right?” OG!Seiros sounds more playful than localised!Seiros.
Anyways, back to the dialogue, since I’ve already talked about this, let’s talk about this monstruosity of a Lv 40 Support - remember, in heroes or modern!FEs, if it has an avatar, it must be worshipped “you are so special” “i was lonely before you” *war flashbacks of the Loki-Aversa Forging bonds*.
Also, while FEH can be surprisingly astute with characterisation sometimes, some other times it just fail hard (remember Arvis and his “Hellfire” when Fjalar is seen as a symbol of justice and something to be proud of? Or whatever the fuck were Saias’s lines.)
Back on topic :
“Your kind are frail, ignorant creatures, incapable of accomplishing anything without the guidance of the goddess.”
Funny how I posted “recently” something about Macuil and Indech who have interesting staggering blow’s lines, deriding humans, thinking they’re children or “insignificant creatures”.
Post Zanado she might have shared her bros’s views on humans. And yet it feels odd, because we know Seiros built the canal in Enbarr and apparently accomplished “miracles” so randoms wanted to follow her. Was she sneering at humans while helping them because she thought she had to help them like Sothis did? Or did she help them because it was something she genuinely wanted to do? Or because she was planning to build her army of “frail and ignorant creatures”? Still, this is something she used to believe but she revised her opinion.
“...Or so I had thought. But I have been forced to realize, meeting the Heroes here, that I was wrong.“
Bleh - but point is, Seiros realised she was wrong, even in the canon FE16 gave us. Rhea is legit saddened to fight her loser’s descendant, whatever Willy was, even if he needed her help to create his Empire, he was not a “frail and ignorant creature, incapable of accomplishing anything without the guidance of the goddess” anymore. I won’t bank on every legacy golem being named after a human ally, but you’re not naming uh... guardians after creatures you don’t care at least a little about. if she was saved by a frail, ignorant creature unable to do anything without the goddess’s guidance, then what is she?
So if this is the canon FEH gives us “Seiros sneered at humans before meeting Summoner-chan and the heroes here” I’ll die by my own headcanon that Seiros used to think humans were nothing, then meeting the humans from Enbarr she started to grow fond of them and made that canal and then when she met Wilhelm and his pals (randoms creating her church ?) she grew fond of them as kind of equals.
ZZZ
“You in particular stand apart as well... You are different from the rest. Special in some way.
My instincts are not often wrong... “
There is nothing to extract from this bar “you’re so awesome summoner-chan!” Cruel nod though, now that I think of it : If Seiros trusted her instincts to side with Wilhelm I because dude was, apparently, a good guy, her instincts didn’t warn her 1000 years later Wilhelm’s descendant would turn against her.
If you continue to fight for this world, I will fight by your side, as a warrior. As an equal.
Seiros wishes to fight for the world with someone who fights for the world as well. I don’t know what she means by “fight for the world”, is she talking about someone who has ambitions or it’s the traditionnal “I will fight for the sake of this world” stuff? If they both want to fight for the world, to her, they’re equals.
Also, Seiros sees herself as a warrior. When she retakes this name in CF, it’s because she’s in her “warrior mode”, she’s not the leader of the church anymore.
“And I know the goddess will be watching over you as well.”
Seiros still believes her mom is watching over her :’( But her mom dgaf about anything save for her meatsuit. I was curious so I checked the og script (again, OG!Seiros was given an ellipse, but Localised!Seiros affirms stuff), OG!Seiros is much more reserved about Sothis watching over the summoner.
Status page quotes :
(again, it is jarring to compare just the tone of Inoue!Seiros and Leigh!Seiros, Inoue!Seiros talks much faster, even faster than Inoue!Rhea. Seiros is genki!Rhea confirmed)
Do not be afraid. You may speak openly with me.
The first thing I thought of reading the “do not be afraid” is how the Bible’s angels often start with “do not be afraid” to the human they’re speaking to, but hey, they look freaky, not like Seiros who, right now, looks like a human with a failed hair dye.
What are you doing? Do you require my assistance?
ZZZ
Do the teachings of the Church of Seiros hold interest for you?
Seiros wonder if people are interested in her stuff. I don’t know from what time period this Seiros is, but if she’s from a post war of heroes, why is she asking if people are interested in her Church if it’s apparently the leading dogma in the continent?
If you humbly devote yourself to prayer, even you may receive the blessing of the goddess.
Leigh!Seiros emphasises the “even you”. I know I’m just a lowly human dude, no need to hammer it! What kind of payer Willy the loser did to receive the blessing of the goddess, hm?
If something precious is stolen from you, you must do whatever it takes to recover it.
Inoue!Seiros marks a definite change in tone here, she’s not playful or enthusiastic anymore, but pissed. Bar that, the “whatever it takes” part is... something Rhea doesn’t endorse anymore (except when Billy becomes Nemesis 2).
Mother... I wish I could see you again, just once more...
In FE16 Rhea’s mom is just a gremlin chilling in Billy’s head, never giving a fuck about her even when she recovered her memories (bar the unseen scene where Rhea tells us she talked to her mom and immediately wonders if she should die). But maybe in the FeH verse Sothis can give some fucks about her children? Lol, who am I kidding.
I shall never abandon you. Even if it means staining my hands with blood…
While this sounds like usual player worship, again it shows Seiros’s willing to do “whatever it takes” sometimes. She’s a bit of an extremist, but became wiser with time.
Tl; Dr :
1/ Seiros is Genki!Rhea
2/ Seiros used to think humans were useless, like her brothers (bar Cichol) until a certain point.
3/ As every young and impressionable person who survived the extermination of her village full of dragons to a man who used her mother’s spine as a sword and douches using other body parts of other silbings as weapons, Seiros is willing to do “whatever it takes” hinting at extremist tendencies, when Rhea, older and wiser, is apparently more willing to compromise, except when someone tries to destroy her home and take away her siblings using her mother’s spine as a weapon
4/ Inoue!Rhea/Seiros >>> Leigh!Rhea/Seiros
