let's talk students: aethergarde academy dr
uhhhhh so let's ignore the fact that I haven't uploaded on tiktok in like 2 weeks + I haven't made a proper post in a whiillleeee T-T
I WILL get to those asks soon, I just really have barely any time on my hands as I'm out and about 8 hrs a day (I'm seriously not exaggerating đđđ)
anyways, let's start with Miaene Lumynstrov.
pronunciation:
Miaene: (Mee-'anne') ('an' as in 'and' without the d))
Lumynstrov: (Loo-min-straw-v) ('v' as in the typical 'v' sound lmao)
appearance:
Miaene's appearance is modelled after Naoi Rei. I actually saw the first photo in this section and came up with everything about Miaene on the spot đđ. Miaene has a serious but lovely appearance, though her personality is essentially all thorns and ice. She's got pale skin due to training indoors and the use of umbrellas on particularly sunny days. Her irises are a deep pine green; her eyes are sharp yet round.
Miaene's haircut may be popular in our OR, but it definitely isn't in this DR (haircut in the first photo). Some think it's blocky while others find it unique. Her haircut is inspired by an accident in a spar match. Her opponent sliced a part of her hair, and Miaeneâs mom didnât want to shear her hair short. Instead, they hired a hairstylist known for him unique haircuts to fix Miaeneâs hair while preserving the length. This haircut is what he came up with.
Despite its uniqueness, Miaene likes how her hair makes her stand out. Her hair has made her more recognizable, and she believes that itâs helped judges in competitions remember who she is.
Overall, she is lean but fit.
personality:
As mentioned earlier, she is all thorns and ice. Sheâs the kind of person to say âIâm here to work, not to make friendsâ. Definitely either an INTJ or an ISTJ. Genuinely has no friends, not even joking.
Nobodyâs really seen her laugh, itâs not like she doesnât though, she def has đ she laughs at rather stupid things, but tends to try and stifle her amusement to keep up a serious facade.
Reputation is an incredibly important thing to her. She hates distasteful rumors the most, and is prepared to do whatever to prove herself to others. She cares a lot about what other people think about her, and will go to great lengths to make herself seem greater than she really is. She isnât the type to lie necessarily though; itâs more that she tries to exaggerate her most prominent positive traits (mostly being hardworking, a great leader, responsible).
Sheâs quite prideful and absolutely hates outright lying. Miaene is a crazy talented swordswoman and archer.
Miaene is especially particular when it comes to her skin and (kinda) health. Sheâs a bit of a neat freak and she often wears long gloves to prevent the sun from touching her skin. Miaene is always using a UV blocking charm to alleviate the effects of the rays on her skin. She is huge on overworking herself though.
If I had to compare her personality to a fictional character, Iâd say sheâs similar to Ines from The Broken Ring: This Marriage Will Fail Anyway.
relationships & social status
Miaene is heavily favored by Strausâ family and is set to marry Straus sometime after Aethergarde. Straus and Miaene have an acquaintance-like relationship, and are not close despite their families involvement.
Theyâve known each other since childhood, but Miaene has always thought he was a bit dull for her liking. Miaene doesnât really like Straus romantically, but she is set on marriage with him because she sees the benefit in marrying someone of his caliber.
Miaene has no other siblings, which makes her an only child.
As you may have guessed, Miaene is of noble descent. Her fatherâs a duke, meaning that Miaene is a high noble.
likes & dislikes:
likes:
- secretly a big sweet tooth
- reading, likes philosophy and secretly reads romance novels
- has always been fond of music
- spider silk garments
- spicy food
- trying new foods
- skincare
dislikes:
- traveling
- overly hot environments
- arrogance
- strong smells
- not a big fan of kids
aura:
Her aura is categorized as a dual-toned plume consisting of a (inner) reddish indigo and a (outer) pinkish mauve.
#85188f
#b87c88
dragon:
Sheâs bonded with a light blue female Tsunazaeth; sheâll name her dragon Acanthe (Uh-can-the). I see Miaene building a pretty close friendship with her dragon.
strengths and weaknesses:
strengths:
- hardworking
- perseverant
- intelligent
- multilingual
- swordsmanship
- level-headed
- responsible
- good leader
weaknesses:
- perfectionist
- overly critical of herself and others
- may take negative feedback too harshly
- bottles up emotions
- distant/keeps everyone at arms length
- hard time opening up
- lacks social skills to make friends
- overly formal
- too logical
- not the most empathetic person âwhy donât you justâŚâ
fighting style:
Not going to describe her fighting style too much to avoid over scripting, but thereâs a few things I do wanna mention.
Miaene fights with a sword. She is described as an elegant fighter and is rather fleet footed. Not only that, but sheâs pretty flexible too.
upon shifting hereâŚ
Miaene will be a first year student at Aethergarde Academy.
wanna know more about my aethergarde academy dr? here's a masterlist with everything I've posted about it!

not me importing my anti-air defense worldbuilding h/cs into ishgard bc I can
#saint.txt#long post#ishgardposting#tl;dr in my personal project one of the big things is that (one) military has had to evolve alongside gryphon riders for a long long time#who's biggest threat are information gathering and the fact they drop flechettes and are nigh-untouchable by anything even each other#even with firearms (which are still very early tech-wise) so anti-air defense is paramount#the biggest results being that *everything* has a roof on it to mitigate stuff falling from the sky.#cities are cramped and avoid open space as much as possible. anti-bird spikes but scaled up on steep roofs so that birds can't land.#buildings are made of non-flammable material like stone when possible. open areas exist mostly as corral zones so that tired birds#must land there and can be easily surrounded on the ground.#but the flashiest is killwire which is basically just wire strung between tall buildings that discourages flight below a certain level#and is difficult to see especially at speed or at night#and if you hit it. well. the idea is based off motorcycle accidents where people have hit wire fences on farms so I'm sure you get the idea#not all of it will apply to Ish.gard but I highly believe that's exactly why Ish.gard is 98% built out of stone#as are all their forts and important structures like bridges. I also believe realistically most streets should be roofed if possible#and open space is kept at a minimum even if daniffen's ward exists. anti-dragon spikes consisting of slots to put lances in on roofs.#Ish.gard might not even have much of a need for 'traditional' forts with huge walls and such bc 90% of their enemies fly so their fort#designs might get a little wild after 1000 years of war. w/ magitek via stephva.nivien you might even electrify the killwire.#ofc some of it already seems to exist - ish.gard's roofs and spires are built *very* steep which would make a dravanian landing on them#difficult and even without that most of them are covered in spires and spikes anyway but. ofc there's the dragonkillers and such too but#ish.gard is a city built on 1000 years of war and hyperspecialized to fighting dragons that fly we really could make it look like that too.#I want to walk into ishgard and immediately know this is a place built on war bc everything about it is hyperspecialized and utilitarian#to fulfill that purpose. look up in ishgard and the stars are replaced with glittering wire.

Woah! Who's alien Henrik? He looks so cool!
Itâs based on the idea that Henrik doesnât know human anatomy because heâs not a human lol. I think in one of his canon videos he said the heart was not in the chest
Tw: Anti does a stab
I want Anti to discover his inhumaness by trying to stab him in the heart and Henrik not panicking or extremely worried for his supposedly few seconds of life left like a human would and saying something like âoh right, thatâs where the human heart is isnât it? Iâm supposed to act like Iâm dyingâ And then proceeding to pass out and getting treated by Marv who was the only one who knew

always been you
summary - youâve always been jealous of hiccups connection with astrid, but little did you knowâŚ
pairing - hiccup (httyd2) x bff!reader
word count - +2k
â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸
You didnât want to come across as overbearing or needy but you did miss your best friend significantly.
Hiccup had been on a scouting mission with Astrid all week, leaving you to keep things tidy at the workshop with Grubber.
Every day felt a little longer.
It wasnât that you didnât think they could handle whatâs out there, but more the fact you canât handle it always being Hiccup & Astrid. Always together.
Always going on missions together. Always flying with each other. Their dragons were best friends so why wouldnât they be? You should be happy that the Chief and the best warrior in Berk are close.
You only wished they werenât as close as they are.
For purely selfish reasons of the heart, of course.
Sure, you and Hiccup had been best friends since you were babes. But there was always something locked tight in your chest that was reserved for whenever you were around Hiccup - like some sort of fluttering or an extra heartbeat.
You keep telling yourself that it could be a deepening crush, but you refuse to allow yourself fully into that thought because youâre terrified the feelings wouldnât be reciprocated.
As you walk home after a long day at the workshop, you notice Hiccup and Astrid flying back in from their scouting trip.
The sun was paining delicate pinks and oranges onto the sky and you watched as Hiccup flew through the clouds, like a finger moving through cotton. He always looked so effortless up there. So at peace.
Berkians swarmed Astrid and Hiccup as they landed, dragons in perfect shape. Riders also. Phew.
You moved to walk down to meet them but stopped short when you watched Astrid give Hiccup a tight hug, lips moving closely over his ear.
âHiccup, youâre back!â A child shouted, excited that his Chief had come home.
âTell us everything.â
âYeah.â
You didnât feel up to heading down there anymore with that tight feeling in your chest returning. You gulped back a hard feeling in the back of your throat and started up the path that led to the top of the hill.
â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸
The view from the top was indescribable.
You could see for miles and yet there was barely anything to see, and yet it was perfect.
There was something peaceful about watching the ocean wash away and come back. It was rhythmic. Routine. And with the sun casting its pastel glows over the water it made it all the more special.
You sat on the very edge, legs tucked up to your chin and your head resting on your knees.
There wasnât that much space between you and the edge. Hiccup had nearly grounded you from leaving the house once when youâd nearly fallen over the edge, but luckily heâd been there.
You felt free up here.
Almost like you couldâ
âYou better not be even thinking what youâre thinking.â
Hiccup and Toothless landed behind you with a thump. Hiccup looked worried and Toothless looked ready.
âYou donât know what Iâm thinking.â
âYouâre thinking about how freeing it would be to fall.â You felt Hiccup sit down next to you.
You realised that was what youâd been thinking⌠but not in a catastrophic way. More in a way where you wished you could grow wings, like your dragons, and fly off into the sunset.
âWell, notâŚâ You felt like you had to clarify, but got cut off.
âNo I know.â Hiccup was watching the sunset when you looked at him, âI felt the same way. Thatâs why I built my own wings. Ever since I first got to fly Toothless iâve always wanted to be able to fly with him, too. You know?â
âMhm.â You nodded.
âYouâre awfully quiet.â
âAm I? Sorry.â You mumbled.
âHey. What have we said about apologising for no reason?â Hiccup shuffled closer to you.
You breathed like you were about to say something.
âDonât say it!â Hiccup warned you, earning a laugh from you.
âI want to, though.â
âWell donât. Otherwise Iâll have Toothless play drop and catch with you.â Hiccup poked your side and you laughed even more.
You almost rolled forwards and off the cliff, but Hiccupâs arm reached around the far side of your waist and pulled you back. You were still laughing when your back hit the ground.
You kept laughing until you slowly realised that Hiccup was laying down - quite closely - next to you. His eyes were watching your smile and his arm was still firmly secured around your waist.
âYouâre going to be the death of me.â
âDonât be so dramatic.â You chuckled.
You turned to look up at the sky for a brief moment, before returning your gaze to Hiccup who was still looking at you.
âWhat?â You asked softly.â
âNothing. I justâ.â
Hiccup was rudely interrupted by Toothless coming to lick a stripe of saliva over his face and down his chest, sticking to his armour. You laughed at the sight, sitting up as you watched Hiccup groan.
âToothless⌠You know that doesnât wash out.â Hiccup flicks away some saliva and Toothless sits on his hind legs, looking proud of himself.
Toothless starts dancing round in a circle, laughing in his own way along with you.
You stand up and make your way over to the Night Fury, as Hiccup continues to wash off the dragon blehâŚ
Toothless makes his way over to you and bows his head for you to touch. Hiccupâs dragon has always been so gentle and calm around you. People often say itâs his soul imitating yours. Toothless closes his eyes as his forehead bumps against yours.
How anyone could be anything but in awe of these magical creatures is a mystery.
Hiccup comes to stand next to you, standing only a bit taller than you.
âHe likes you more than he likes me.â Hiccup says, scratching behind Toothlessâ ear.
âOh please. He would dive off a cliff to save you, but heâd be the one to push me off thinking that it was play-time.â
âI think heâd surprise you.â Hiccup wandered around Toothless and climbed onto the saddle. âCâmon.â
âCâmon, what?â You asked, puzzled.
âWeâre going for a ride.â He held out his arm for you.
âRight now?â
âI think thatâs what Iâm askingâŚâ
âHiccup⌠You just got back fromâŚâ
âAnd I want to spend some time with you. So⌠please.â He gestured again and Toothless made a sound like he wanted you to join them too.
âIâm not playing drop and fetch, though. I mean it.â
âI promise.â
You took ahold of Hiccupâs hand, ignoring the tight, fluttering, sensation in your chest and allowed him to pull you up in front of him. Youâd tried sitting behind him once and had nearly fallen off when Toothless did a nose dive, so ever since youâd been riding up front.
Hiccupâs arms tightened around you and grabbed ahold of where he needed to guide Toothless.
âReady?â He asked, his voice sending goosebumps over your skin from how close he was.
You nodded.
And you took off.
â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸
The first part of the flight was always the scariest.
Toothless shot up into the sky, making you lean back into Hiccup more and Hiccup hold onto you a little tighter.
Once you levelled out, you soared through the clouds.
It was so serene up here, you envied how free the dragons just feel every time they fly. With the sun in the distance, feeling like youâre shooting towards it, it feels like something out of a dream.
You closed your eyes, let out a deep breath and allowed your other sense to take over. The sound of air whipping around you as you flew at speed. The taste of the cold air as you passed through clouds. The smell of dragon - it was weirdly comforting. And the touch of Hiccup. The last one brought you the most comfort of all.
âI could stay up here forever.â You said.
âI wish we could.â
âToothless probably wouldnât be a fan of flying forever.â You leant over to scratch Toothless behind the ear and he softly grumbled in reply.
âHe probably would be if it was for you. Me on the other hand? Pfft, forget about it.â
âOh please. Your bud would do anything for you. I mean he literally saved you from one of the biggest fire explosions Iâve ever seen.â
âAnd youâve seen lots of them have you?â He joked, making you nudge your elbow back into his ribs. âOkay, okay!â
A few minutes of silence passed by, just you two and Toothless effortlessly gliding amongst the clouds.
âI wanted to talk to you about something.â Hiccup said.
âOkay.â
âI⌠I justâŚItâsâŚâ
âHiccup, if itâs about something that happened on your scouting mission with Astrid then I already know.â You tilted your head around a little to see him. His face was full of confusion and you gave him the slightest smile even though you could feel your heart dropping through your chest.
âYou do?â
âYeah I thought it was pretty obvious.â
âOkay.. Well, yeah.. I meanâŚâ
âYou donât have to talk to me about it Hiccup. Itâs none of my business.â
You turned back around, not wanting to hear much more about how Hiccup had fallen for Astrid. How they were now together. How you were completely out of the picture now.
âWait⌠What?â Hiccup exclaimed, making you jump a little from how loud he shouted in your ear.
Toothless looked back for a moment with a devilsome grin on his normally innocent face.
âBudâŚ?â Hiccup asked warily.
Toothless mustâve thought that Hiccup said something different, because it was at that moment that Hiccup realised you two were no longer going to enjoy the sunset or clouds.
Toothless took the opportunity to tilt downwards, before plummeting through the sky towards the ocean.
You screamed as Hiccup tried his best to get Toothless to listen to him - unsuccessfully.
Hiccupâs arms tightened infinitely around you as he tried to control Toothless the best he could, but there was no stopping this big lump of scales.
Toothless dive right to the seawater before gliding straight across it for a brief moment, then shooting right back up in the sky again.
âBud, seriously⌠What are you playing at?â
As you got up to some height, Toothless spread his wings as far as he could then.
âOh no.â Hiccup sighed.
Then you were all falling down backwards. Toothless had his tongue sticking out as if he was enjoying every moment of this, whereas you were hanging on for dear life.
âToothless!â Hiccup shouted, kicking his leg in a certain way to control Toothlessâ tail better.
Everything calmed down a little after that, Toothless going back to gliding as you made your way home to Berk now the sun had set.
âYou and I are having words when we get back, bud.â Hiccup tried to sound stern but it was well known that the dragon would be the one to get his way.
â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸â¨âď¸
As you stepped off Toothless your legs took some time to regain familiarity with solid ground.
Then as the adrenaline was wearing off, you started laughing - letting out all of the wired energy. You stood up tall after letting your legs have a moment, only to turn around to see Hiccup standing close in front of you.
Youâd missed the moment where Toothless nudges Hiccup closer towards you, but it youâd had seen it then it wouldâve made this next part less unexpected.
A dragon always knows.
âWhat?â You let out a small, nervous, laugh. âHiccup, what?â
Hiccup hummed to himself, with a small smile on his face.
âAstrid was right.â He said.
Your face went neutral, trying to hide the fact you were affected by Hiccup bringing up Astrid.
âRight about what?â
âAbout how big of a dumbass I am.â He stepped closer.
âI donâtâŚâ Your brows furrowed.
Hiccup moved forwards again, reaching out to ghost his palm over your cheek. You looked towards his palm slightly, nervous about what he was doing.
Your breath hitched when his skin made contact with yours.
He was so close in front of you, youâd frozen to the spot with anticipation over whatever he was doing.
âHiccup.â You whispered.
Toothless shrunk into the shadows of the background as night fell, leaving you too alone to stand on what felt like the top of the world - together.
âEveryone told me I shouldâve said something sooner.â Hiccup said, more to himself than to you.
âHiccup, youâre not making any sense.â
âNo. What doesnât make any sense is my feelings for you!â He reached to hold the other side of your cheek now, framing your face so he could keep your focus on him, âWhat doesnât make sense is that I feel lost when youâre not near. I feel weak when I havenât seen you in days. I feel aâŚa.. sort of tight feeling in my chest every time youâre around. What doesnât make sense is how I fell for someone like you, when Iâm someone⌠like meâŚâ
Hiccup dropped his hands, eyes widening as if heâd been in a trance when he had been talking.
You watched him stand there, watching you with nervousness now.
âWhat doesnât make sense to me is how someone as great and as clever as the great Chief of Birk, couldnât possibly understand how someone like me really likes him.â
You nervously gulp as you watch realisation take over his face.
âWait⌠really?â
âPretty sure.â You smiled.
âWell I guess weâre both dumbasses.â
Hiccup extended his arm to wrap on the side of your waist, pulling you towards him and not stopping until your lips were close enough to kiss his.
He kissed you like heâd been waiting an eternity for this moment, holding onto your waist tightly as if youâd even had thought about move away from him.
Your fingers curled around the delicate plaits in his hair that youâd tied, keeping your body taught against his.
As you both pulled away, you stayed close to one another - breathing the same air as if separate space simply wasnât an option anymore.
You didnât say anything - you didnât have to - but you did have to chuckle at the situation.
Not even an hour ago youâd been heartbroken at the thought that his heart belonged to someone else. Now you realised that his heart had never been set on anyone but you. It had been you all along. And you knew, because your heart felt exactly the same way.

Ao3: Updated later
Alicentâs big doe eyes were watery, her hair wild. She seemed to become increasingly fraught by the dayâ it pained Ser Criston to know why she was so wracked with nerves. They both were aware of the plans for the future. Very big plans as Viserys continued to decay. He noted the Queenâs nails were bleeding again.
Criston grabbed her shaking palms, soothing her with a murmur, âMy Queen, breathe, what is the issue?â
The Knight was grateful he had gloves on or Alicentâs ripped nails might have drawn blood. The redhead took a deep inhale and exhaled. She begged him, a frantic edge to her tone, âAegon. Heâs uncontrollable. I donât know what to do. He brought whores into the Keep Sept! Ser Darklyn caught..my son..defiling the place.â
She spat âmy sonâ as if it was bile in her mouth. Criston clenched his teeth, anger beginning to rise up from the pit of his stomach. He was utterly revolted. They were going to thrust this wanton, deviant, gluttonous Prince onto the throne.
They had no other choice.
The green queenâs tone grew hard as she ordered, âPay him a visit. Make him understand the castle is not his playground. Use any means possible. Your queen demands it.â
Criston squeezed her palms and nodded. He rumbled, âPrince Aegonâs heresy will not go unpunished, you have my promise.â Alicent turned away with a thanks, nails back to her lips. The white knight had an order to execute, striding off to the Princeâs quarters.
He stopped to raise a brow at Ser Arryk standing guard. The twin grumbled, âPrincelingâs sleeping off his revels, by all means, go ahead.â He gave a wry smile, Criston not returning the look. Criston dismissed Cargyll, âThe Queen requires you to take my place at her side. Iâve been sent to deal with Aegon.â
The other Kingsguard nodded, rolling his eyes at Cristonâs serious demeanor. Cole watched him descend down the hallway, turning a corner before opening Aegonâs door. The knight wrinkled his nose at the smell of wine and muskâ Aegon sprawled out in his bed, naked.
A bottle of wine sat on the side table. Cristonâs eyes jerked to the foot of the grand bed. His lips twisted downwards at the ropes, leather, the collection of ivory to ebony carved cocks. The marcher was stunned. The open display of debauchery. An outwardly sinful collection. He swallowed reflexively, deciding on what to do.
Dark eyes roved up to the Prince. Heâd grown rather fleshy with drink and overindulgence at the table. For a young man of twenty, a dragon rider, Aegon had the soft curves of a plump maid. Criston could almost laughâ Aegon probably spent too much time on his back to get a sweat working even with all the fucking he did.
He stalked over toward the side of the bed, leering down at Aegon. Criston had an idea pop in his headâ a nasty one. Beating Aegon served no gain. The princeling would just snivel and cry, delving deeper into his cups. The knightâs cock stirred at the image of wide eyes and tears falling down fat cheeks.
Aegon was pretty enough, soft enough, tits grown much bigger than Rhaenyra had at the time he coveted her, sullied his cloak for her. His white hair was rumpled, lips, and cheeks feminine and plump. Criston was well acquainted with wide violet eyes and long lashes. He reminded Cole too much of Ali with that look.
Criston barked, âAegon!â
The prince stirred and whined, rolling onto his soft tummy, exposing more plush thigh and a round ass. Criston rolled his eyes, ignoring his stirring cock. Aegonâs pallid fleshy hips had jagged pink marks, a sign of the glutton gaining too much for his skin to keep up. The marcher couldn't understand how the buffoon had no shame in his naked body, especially in a state such as this.
Cristonâs eyes jerked back to the foot of the bed. Aegon was ruled by his extreme hedonism. His nasty thought blossomed into a plan. The knight sighed in annoyance. Heâd remain chaste, but Aegon would get some sense fucked into him.
Criston undid his gauntlets in quick snaps, eyes blown and focused on the prince. Next came his pauldrons, dropping to the floor in a loud clank. Aegon snuffled and stirred, groaning, âFuck off Cargyll, mâalive.â
Finally, the heavy cuirass was off. The marcher remained in his white garb. He took off his boots before snatching the phials of oil and the biggest carved cock available. The cloak was neatly placed out of sightâ Criston would deal with his guilt later. This was for the crown, for his queen, for the future of Westeros.
He placed the heavy cock down on the bedside table, placing a knee on the plush bed. Aegon finally jerked and squawked, reddened eyes wide. His puffy lips opened and closed like a fish. The prince questioned âCole? What in the seven hells are you doing here? Iâm trying to rest! Did you not hear me tell Cargyll to fuck off?â
Criston wanted to snarl and jerk the brat around. He remained quiet, face placid, staring Aegon down. After taking a breath, he spoke, âI came to check on you. I donât appreciate the attitude, my prince. Youâve been more withdrawn than usual.â
Aegonâs face softened, eyes gleaming from the attention Criston was lathering upon his minuscule ego. He murmured, âThis isnât some scheme from Mother, is it? You merely care for Aemond.â The blondeâs mouth pouted, face eager for a smidgeon of praise.
âNo. I care for all of you. Whatâs going on Aegon? You surround yourself in Flea Bottom, but you seem lonely around the Keep. I notice more than you think.â Criston was not lying when he said his piece. Aegon irked him but he held affection for all of Alicentâs children. He also knew Aegon sought touch and affirmation in the lowest of places.
Aegonâs face softened, his body still bared to Cristonâs sight. He mumbled, cheeks flushing, âI am already an idiot fool, I canât fight, nor will I be as smart as Aemond. What is the saying? The black sheep.â
Criston placed a knee on the plush bed, leaning to cup a full cheek. He replied, âThe black sheep of the family, yes. Although I believe that title is for the bitch on Dragonstone. You donât trust yourself enough, hm? You never gave yourself a chance.â
Aegon nuzzled into his palm, eyes growing teary and cheeks flushing. He inhaled a bit, body shifting. The prince complained, âWhy are you here? To make me feel worse? Itâs too late. This is what I am. Iâd rather be drunk than try and be laughed at more.â
Criston put his other knee on the bed, climbing towards Aegon. He purred, âSo youâd rather spread your legs like a two stag whore and guzzle wine, feast and fuck your life away?â Aegon whimpered softly as Criston jerked the prince underneath him, pulling him up by thick hips.
âAh- what are you doing?â
âMaybe youâll learn some worth if I fuck it into you, pretty princeling,â He quipped back, fingertips digging into pliant flesh. He felt good. Too good. Aegon squirmed but Criston had him pinned under his toned frame. The prince whined, âWhy, donât, this is...no!â
âYour wanton pussy says no to me then? How strange,â Criston hummed, âAemond would never defile a sept like you have. Disgusting.â The pale body under him struggled, tears pouring from the blondeâs eyes. Criston reached around to grab at a rock-hard cock, laughing meanly as he gave tentative pumps.
âTruly are a deviant. You probably dreamed of this,â he groped Aegonâs fat belly, âA glutton too. You were so slim. What happened? Aemond had a pudgy face. Youâve got tits now.â
Aegon mewled pathetically, bucking back into Cristonâs hips. He whined, âStop it, stop it, sânot that bad!â Criston snorted, grabbing a handful of chubby tits, Aegon sobbing and shivering. The knight pinched at the stretched nipple and swore, âPlump little princess. Content to laze around and get her pussy fucked all day. You have no conviction. No ambition to rule your kingdom.â
Criston reached over to grab the oil, Aegonâs sniveling music to the marcherâs ears. The prince tried to sneer, âY-you swore to be chaste, you already fucked that up! Picking another Valyrian again?â
âNo, no, simpleton. As much as I disgustingly lusted for a Targaryen princess on my cock, I have doubled over my faith. This is merely a lesson for you. Smart girl, wish you used your bigger head more, it is a scheme from your mother,â his gloved hand cracked across Aegonâs peachy ass, âAs I pondered, figured youâd be apt to listen with a cock up your cunt.â
Teary doll eyes and trembling lips stared over a pale shoulder. Aegonâs white hair hung limp in his face. He tried to squirm again, pissed off, by his swears and leg kicking out. Criston shoved the softling by his neck, Aegon crying out in frustration.
The knight reached back for that discarded rope, yanking Aegonâs skinny wrists up and trying them. Criston hissed, âGoddamn brat. Thatâs what you are. Youâre going to listen and maybe Iâll make your needy pussy feel good.â He was disgusted with himselfâ Aegonâs strangled moans were delicious.
The headboard clattered as Criston tested the ties. He took a moment to murmur, âToo tight?â Aegon rasped, heaving a sob, âN-no! Fuck me already! Make your point!â Cristonâs lips quirked up, sliding a calloused thumb over Aegonâs twitching entrance, drawing a pitiful whine.
He poured oil over the twitching pucker, slicking his gloved fingers up. Criston had no experience with this but he knew an ass had no lubrication. Therefore, it was his job to open Aegon up. The prince squirmed impatiently, blotchy red cheeks ripe with embarrassment.
Criston could be gentle. But the leather whip told him otherwise. He pressed two fingers against the tight ring, trying to work himself in with circular movements. Aegon mewled, chubby thighs trembling, arching his back into a thick crease. Dark eyes hungrily watched Aegon's softened body fold and shake, idly worried why he thought it to be so fetching to the gaze.
âYouâve let yourself go to seed. No better than some lord's fat spoilt daughter. Youâve seen Aemond,â his other hand pinched Aegonâs back roll meanly, grinning at the princeâs whimpery pleads, âHeâs lean and talented, even with one eye. You couldâve built yourself up in the yard.â
Aegon cried out as Cristonâs oily fingers dipped inside the ring of muscle, the knight roughtly shoving them in deep. Aegon thrashed at the burn, cock bobbing against his drooping gut. The elder continued, âYou mightâve been decent with a sword. Maybe you could read up and try to be smart? Aemond studies for hours.â
Criston cruelly jabbed his fingers in short thrusts as Aegon whined and babbled, âI- I can speak Valyrian! Stop talking about him now!â Aemond made Aegonâs hackles raise easilyâ the dutiful brother, the better son, the beloved. Alicent had eyes for the special son and his monstrous dragon.
Cristonâs fingers curled against a nub that make the softling jolt in his ropes, throwing his wild hair back. The knight raised a browâ heâd heard Aegon talking about a spot that made the male whores squeal once. This must be it.
âIâm merely giving you some advice, Aemond excels. I could get you into fighting shape, hm?â He drug padded tips against the little spot, Aegon breathily moaning, âSer Criston, Ser, please! No more about him!â
âShouldâve been born with a cunt. Let him breed you up with pretty Valyrian babies. Youâre close enough anyways, always crying and needing your achy cunt pleased. Tits and hips made for babes. Greedy, greedy, greedy,â he tutted. Criston eagerly thrust his fingers, a grin plastered on his handsome face, eyes feral. The squelching added to Aegon's embarrassment, desire, and needs.
Aegon made a desperate noise, shivering all over. Criston flipped Aegon onto his back, seeing the fuss. The prince whined as his wrists twisted, eyes turned away, pouty lips swollen from biting. Criston eyed the milky cum decorating Aegonâs striped lower belly.
âWhore. Is that what we have to do to keep you in line? Keep you fucked out, drunk, and fed?â He snarled, face dangerously close. Aegon spread his thick thighs, tears leaking down his fat cheeks. The prince moaned âFuck meeee, fuck meee, please just fuck me! Iâll be good!â
Criston groped at a tender breast, demanding, âYouâll be a good what?â
Aegon sulked as he huffed, eyes finally on Cristonâs dark gaze. The knight slapped his fatty thigh, the prince wailing, âYour good little princess! The princess! Yes! Iâll listen!â
The brunette cooed, âGood girl, youâll get your pussy fucked again. Such a lustful sort. Gorgeous whore. Lookâit you.â His soiled gloves took their time squeezing Aegonâs curves. He hooked his fingers into a deep belly button, and the blonde began to whine again. His once-softened cock was already straining against his stomach.
âWhat? Gods. Surely all this blubber doesnât turn you on? You need a corset, my Princess,â he laughed again.
Aegon stammered, âN-no, all this touching. S'sensitive.â
âMhm, sure Aegon, you think I donât see you at supper? Never miss supper do you? Ruled by your own greed. How will you be king? Weâll be penniless! Easy for your uncle and sister to take over.â
"I'll listen, you can be my hand, keep me in line," Aegon wetly cried, "Please, please, Serrr, need it."
Criston hummed in contentment, stretching black gloves against ivory thighs, spreading Aegon wide open. He smirked at the way Aegon's belly bunched into two thick rolls, forcing his little tits up. The knight swallowed down drool, he mustn't lap or suckle. He had to break his prince down some more.
The dark haired knight reluctantly leg go of a thigh, eyes drifting from Aegon's used hole. He grabbed that carved cock from earlier, slathering the earlier discarded oil onto it, something floral scenting the pungent air. The prince mewled and spread his legs, puffy lips swollen and spit-slick. Criston muttered, "Where the fuck do you even get these things...this one is lumped.."
Aegon panted, "S'for that spot."
"The spot that makes the spoilt princess squeal?"
Violet eyes watered some more, Aegon swallowing down a whine, softly pleading Criston- promising his utmost attention, duty, and service. Only if the Kingsguard would just use the toy! Criston smiled darkly, shoving the bulbous tip of the ebony cock into Aegon's stretched hole. The younger cried out, back arching again, almost sobbing with pleasure.
The marcher focused on settling it deep inside, pleased with the knowledge it would rub Aegon's tiny sweet spot raw. His hands were still gloved, he might fuck around with Aegon's small pink cock. Criston began to pump it in and out, watching tied wrists struggle as Aegon whimpered and moaned.
He shifted further forward, white garments rubbing against sensitive skin. It was as if Criston was practically fucking Aegon now, hand holding the toy being pistoned by his hips. His other hand groped its way up Aegon's flushed body, thumbing and pulling at a puffy nipple. Criston shook his head, commenting, "Your tits are growing princess, look how eager you are, shoving them into my palm."
He pinched harder, Aegon crying out in pleasure-pain. Criston leaned forward to hiss "We need to do something about your teat before they're bigger than your wife's. I expect some riding and training, yes?" Aegon babbled and sniffled, nodding along, slurred promising. The elder smiled down, easing his grip, patting Aegon's cheek.
"S-Ser, harder, I beg of you, m'close, I'll be sosososo good!"
"If you continue to be good after this, then you'll be rewarded every time. I think that's a good plan," Cole remarked, hand drawing dangerously close to Aegon's flushed prick, "I always have to handle you brats anyways. You're just a brattier princess who needs special treatment. Like your fucking bitch sister."
Aegon's thighs and ass clenched down on the thick cock, hitching on a warbling sob. The Kingsguard licked his lips, suddenly aware he was biting at them. He leered as he gripped the handful of cock, thumbing at the leaking tip. Cole reminisced with a frown, "Rhaenyra was more pliant after I played with her clit too, I guess you two are more similar than I thought. Deceptively pretty."
The prince's breathing had grown so thin it was as if he was breathing through a straw, eyes wide and lolling around, mewling and carrying on. Criston kept ranting, raising himself into a tizzy, "Luckily your hungry cunt will be attended to. Only in the keep. Until you can prove yourself to be competent! Can you respond to that?"
Aegon babbled, squirming from the pressure on his oversensitive cockhead, the Kingsguard fucking the carved toy into his ass, dragging across that little gland. Criston hummed, "There we go, the princess can behave when her clit's being rubbed hm? S'too much? You're leaking all over me, messy girl." He was having absolute joy with this, Aegon wailing and painting his soft tummy repeatedly, pearly seed shining on his pallid skin.
He'd roughened his touches, drove that ebony cock harder, lost in Aegon's cries. The poor thing busted again, begging for mercy, red-faced and spent. Criston felt that was enough, easing the toy out. He scooped up the copious seed and fed it into Aegon's slobbery lips, the whore lapping it up dutifully, hazy eyes the picture of a sweet royal. A good, well-behaved Targaryen.
Criston patted his cheek again, humming, "Good. I expect to see you at dinner. Then we shall discuss further plans. Whore."
He crawled off the bed, taking off his messy gloves and tucking them away with a shiver. Disgust crawled up the knight's spine. He turned toward the window as he put his armor back on. Aegon whined, "W-where are you going? Can we not talk about the plans here?"
He glared at the sot, scoffing, "Not like that we will. Get yourself cleaned up, I'll be taking my leave. Listen to as I have told you, Aegon. Criston donned his cloak, inwardly counting how many flogs he would receive for his sin. For the wetness in his breeches. For his hardened cock and desire for Aegon's wanton nature.
Aegon arrived at dinner well-behaved, quiet, and sipping his wine. He cast uneasy looks between Ser Criston and Alicent. The queen smiled, "I know you would help, Ser Cole, he looks better already." Criston watched those pouty lips tremble. Perhaps it soothed the scarred tissue of his heart caused by another. His lips quirked up as he bowed his head, "No issue, my queen, Aegon needs a firmer hand."

The grand chamber was dimly lit, the only sources of light being the flickering holographic displays and the soft glow of the council membersâ robes. The air was thick with anticipation as the council awaited the presentation.
âReady whenever you are, Dr. Kang,â Lord Hong announced, his voice resonating through the chamber.
Yeosang, standing beside the holographic projector, bowed respectfully. He took a moment to adjust the hologram, ensuring every detail of Ajaxâs anatomy was perfectly visible. The room fell silent as the intricate projection came to life, displaying the necropsy report for Subject 4201.
âNecropsy report for Subject 4201. Subject is a male, approximately 11 years old, measuring 20 feet in height with a wingspan of 40 feet. Initial examination reveals extensive claw marks along the dorsal scales, likely from recent combat.â
Yeosang zoomed in on the damage inflicted by Starshine during the Inferno Cup. Lady Lee brought her hand to her mouth in feigned horror, prompting Yeosang to roll his eyes at her theatrics. He then brought up the next holographic display.
Swiping over to the dragonâs head, Yeosang brought forward the manifestation of Ajaxâs brain, enhancing the size of the organ for the Councilâs scrutiny.Â
âThe brain shows signs of abnormal growth in the amygdala, the region associated with aggression and fear responses. This hypertrophy suggests heightened aggression and unstable behavior. Further examination of the neural pathways reveals signs of synaptic plasticity, which may indicate a history of adaptive responses to high-stress environments. This could result in unpredictable and erratic behavior patterns.â
âIs this a common trait in Longhorns, Dr. Kang?â Lord Kim interjected.
Yeosang maintained his composed demeanor, though he felt slightly irritated at Lord Kimâs prodding. Taking a moment to gather his thoughts, he ensured his tone remained respectful yet authoritative.Â
âWhile hypertrophy in the amygdala is not uncommon in Longhorns, the extent of the growth observed here is unusual,â he explained, his voice steady. âFurther studies are necessary to determine if this is an isolated case or indicative of a broader trend within the species.â
Lord Kim nodded, the soft rustle of his robes barely audible as he leaned back in his chair. Yeosang then moved on to the next hologram, which flickered to life, casting a light that manifested into Ajax above their heads.
âIn summary, subject 4201 exhibits significant physiological power and complexity,â Yeosang began, his voice steady and clear. The hologram displayed intricate details of the dragonâs anatomy, each scale and muscle rendered with precision. âIâve concluded that the observed unpredictable behavior indicates potential neurological instability. End of report.â
Chairman Jangâs eyes narrowed as he leaned forward, the light catching the sharp angles of his face. âAnd the report of parentage?â he asked.
Yeosang adjusted the hologram, bringing up a new set of data. âThe DNA test results showed no significant anomalies, your grace. The dragonâs genetic makeup is consistent with what we have documented in our archives. There are no indications of any unusual lineage or mutations.â
Lord Kim studied him for a moment, his gaze penetrating. âAre you certain, Dr. Kang? This information is crucial to understanding where this Longhorn may have originated from.â
Yeosang nodded, maintaining his calm facade. âYes, your grace. I am certain. The DNA results confirm that this dragon is of standard lineage.â
âLord Kim, we have all the information we need. Continuing this investigation is a waste of our resources and time,â Lady Lee snapped, her voice sharp and echoing slightly in the grand council room.
âWe need to be thorough,â Lord Kim insisted, his tone unwavering. The flickering light from the hologram cast shadows across his stern face, highlighting the furrow in his brow.
âThe dragonâs physiology and neurological state are well-documented. We have other priorities that demand our attention,â she countered, her words heavy with urgency.
Lord Hong nodded in agreement, the soft rustle of his robes breaking the silence. âLady Lee is right. We are diverting valuable time and effort. This report should be concluded.â His voice was measured, a stark contrast to the rising tension between his colleagues.
âIf Dr. Kang has reported no abnormalities in his findings, then we must move on to the next agenda item,â Chairman Jang interjected with finality. âThank you for your time, Dr. Kang.â
The room fell silent, the air thick with unresolved conflict. Yeosang remained silent, grateful that the focus had shifted away from his lie, but acutely aware of the brewing storm between the Council members.
âWould it be possible for the copies of the report to be made available, Dr. Kang?â Lord Kim interjected, his eyes boring into Yeosang, challenging him to reveal the truth.
Yeosang hesitated, his fingers trembling slightly as he adjusted his glasses. âThe report is rather unremarkable, your grace,â he replied coldly, staring straight at the elder.
Lord Hongâs eyes narrowed. âIs there a problem, Dr. Kang? The Council has a right to see the report.â
Yeosang tightened his jaw, feeling the tension ripple through his muscles as the Councilâs insistence caught him off guard. His irritation simmered just beneath the surface, barely contained.
âOf course, I will ensure the report is made available,â he said smoothly, his voice dripping with false sincerity, masking the venom beneath. âI just need a little more time to⌠finalize some details.â
âFinalize what details? Are you implying that this report today was not conclusive?â Lord Kimâs voice was cold and unyielding, each word a deliberate challenge.
Yeosangâs eyes flashed with annoyance, but he quickly masked it with a calm facade. âI assure you, Lord Kim, the report is thorough. However, there are always minor adjustments to be made for clarity.â
Kim Sangjoongâs gaze hardened, his suspicion evident. âMinor adjustments? Or are you buying time to cover up discrepancies, Dr. Kang?â
âThatâs enough,â Chairman Jangâs voice concluded, the tone unmistakable, leaving no room for argument. âDr. Kang, you have until the end of the day to produce copies of the report to the Council.â
Yeosang felt a surge of anger but forced a smile. âI understand your concern, Lord Kim. Rest assured, the report will be delivered by the end of the day, as requested.â His tone was polite, but the underlying threat was present.
The room remained tense, the air thick with unspoken conflict. Yeosang knew he had to tread carefully, but he relished the challenge.
Seonghwa strode through the hallways of the Park estate, his footsteps echoing off the marble floors as he awaited the results of Ajaxâs necropsy from Kim Sangjoong. The grandeur of the estate, with its high ceilings and ornate decorations, did little to calm his racing thoughts.
âMs. Jang,â he called out, his voice calm yet authoritative. His motherâs assistant looked up from her desk, immediately recognizing him. She adjusted her glasses and gave him a polite nod.
âYes, your grace?â she asked, her tone respectful but familiar.
âI need a list of all the attendees from the Inferno Gala,â he requested, his eyes scanning the room. âSponsors, stakeholders, ridersâeverything.â
Ms. Jang nodded and quickly began typing on her laptop. The soft clacking of keys filled the room as Seonghwa paced back and forth, his mind a whirlwind of thoughts. He glanced at the clock on the wall, each tick amplifying his impatience.
After a few moments, Ms. Jang handed him a sleek tablet. âHere it is, your grace,â she said. âThe complete list.â
Seonghwa took the tablet and offered her a small smile in thanks. As he walked back to his quarters, he scanned the names, noting familiar faces and new ones, the organizations they represented, and the teams they raced for. Each name brought back memories of conversations, deals, and promises made. He needed to ensure that every attendee was accounted for and that no detail was overlooked.
âTreasure Holdings, Blue Bird Airways, Answer Tech,â Seonghwa muttered to himself, activating the hologram interface. These were big name sponsors in dragon racing and nothing seemed out of the ordinary.Â
He swiped to the next category of Auroraâs political elite, scanning the list with a practiced eye. Names like Lady Baek and Lord Yoon stood out, both well-known figures in the political landscape. As he continued down the list, he reached members of the Council and their guests. Lord Hong Bum Soo and Lady Hong Sara, Chairman Jang Ki Young, Lord Kim Sangjoong and Lady Kim Miyeonâ
She was never one to miss an event, especially one of this magnitude. He quickly re-scanned the rest of the list, hoping it was a mistake, but her name was nowhere to be found. Had she been deliberately excluded?
Lady Leeâs absence was not just unusualâit was a glaring anomaly. Taking out his phone, he dialed Kim Sangjoong, hoping for news of the necropsy report. The phone rang a few times before Lord Kim answered. âSeonghwa, whatâs the matter?â
âI have news for you, should you have any to share with me,â Seonghwa said, his tone measured.
The elder chuckled softly, shaking his head. âI regret to inform you that the report returned without any anomalies. It was conclusive, indicating that the dragon is of standard lineage.â
âThat canât be,â Seonghwa said, his voice laced with disbelief. âY/N showed me Ajaxâs anatomy in video footage a few months ago. She noted that his angulation was much more moderate than a Longhornâs, and his wings were longer. He also exhibited an unusual level of speed and agility.â
The elderâs eyes widened slightly. âThat does soundâŚunnatural for the breedâŚâ He paused, his gaze drifting out the large, arched window of his office. He noticed Lady Lee in conversation with a young lab assistant, her animated gestures contrasting with the assistantâs calm demeanor.
âYour grace?â Seonghwaâs voice brought him back to the present.
âYes, apologies. Please continue.â
âI wanted to let you know that I pulled the guest list from the gala and noticed that Lady Lee was missing.â
The elderâs brow furrowed in concern. âThatâs certainly odd. She never turns down an opportunity for an event given her ratherâŚvainglorious nature. Her absence is highly unusual.â Lord Kim glanced at the ornate clock on the wall, noting the late hour. If he were to leave now, it would be an opportunity to learn more about Lady Leeâs next moves.
âIt seems Lady Lee is just about to leave for the day,â Lord Kim informed the younger. âThank you for the information, Seonghwa.â He quickly pocketed his phone and hurried towards the exit, his mind racing with possibilities. The corridors of the capitol building were beginning to empty as the day drew to a close, and he needed to act fast.
The soft murmur of conversations and the shuffle of footsteps filled the air, creating a symphony of end-of-day activity. The tension in the air was palpable, each step Lord Kim took echoing his urgency.
âAh, Lady Lee! Will you be attending General Choiâs birthday celebration?â he called out, his voice cutting through the ambient noise, and scaring the lab assistant. The young man, not much older than 20, bowed before taking his leave.Â
Lady Lee paled, her confident demeanor faltering for a moment. O-Oh? Is that this weekend?â she stammered, her eyes darting around as if searching for an escape. She forced a smile, though it didnât reach her eyes.
âI must have overlooked it. Iâve been quite busy withâŚpersonal matters,â Lady Lee said, her voice wavering slightly.
âPersonal matters?â Lord Kim pressed, his curiosity piqued. âWell, I hope everything is alright.â
She hesitated, her fingers fidgeting with the hem of her sleeve. âYes, well, itâs nothing that concerns the council.â
Lord Kim nodded slowly, not entirely convinced. âI see. Well, I do hope youâll make it to the celebration. Miyeon and I look forward to seeing you.â
âThank you, Lord Kim. I appreciate your concern,â she replied, her voice steadying.Â
As Lady Lee turned to leave, Lord Kim watched her closely. There was something off about her behavior, something that didnât sit right with him. Her usually confident demeanor seemed strained, and her eyes darted around nervously. His mind raced with questions, each one more urgent than the last. What was she hiding? And why did it feel like time was running out?
[NEW MESSAGE]
[Lord Cash Money]: Results are inÂ
[Lord Cash Money]: Nothing out of standard
You let out a huff as you read Seonghwaâs message and sent back a quick âThanksâ. Dismounting Cirrus, you felt the cool leather of the saddle beneath your hands, but an uneasy feeling settled in your chest. You knew Ajax was definitely not half Fury, but something else entirely. The thought sent a chill down your spine at the implications of what his other half might be.
The late afternoon sun cast long shadows across the manor as you helped Sohee down from the saddle. You slung her backpack over your shoulder, the weight a familiar comfort, and dialed the only person you knew you could vent to besides your grandmother and sister.
âI hate the government,â you said, balancing your phone between your shoulder and ear while you toed off your shoes and hung up your nieceâs backpack. The scent of oil pastels and dragon scales lingered in the air.
âWho doesnât?â Jonghoâs voice came through the line, gruff yet playful. You could almost picture his mischievous grin. Whatâs going on?â he asked, his tone shifting to one of curiosity and concern.
Choi Jongho was the oldest son of the Dune Choi Family and cousin to the Auroran Choi Family. Although they were considered one of Duneâs noble houses, your families had been breeding partners for as long as your grandmother could remember.
Jongho had always been like a little brother to you, his presence a constant in your lifeâa mix of annoyance and comfort that only a true sibling could provide. His sharp wit and the shared history between your families created a connection that was unbreakable, no matter how much he might drive you crazy at times.
âThe test results came back conclusive. Thereâs nothing out of the ordinary with Ajaxâs lineage.â
âBullshit,â Jongho snapped, pacing his room. âI watched the footage you sent me, read through the pedigree, and everything seemed off. Someoneâs tampering with the results.â
You nodded, frustration evident. âExactly. Iâm thinking there has to be something more nefarious in his lineage. Ajax has always been promoted as a hybrid between a Fury and a Longhorn, but I donât think a Fury fits the bill. It has to be a breed thatâs aerodynamic.â
Jongho furrowed his brow. âAerodynamic, huh? That narrows it down a bit. Maybe something with a sleeker build? A Wyrm variant? Or a Razorback?â
You snickered. âHongjoong is going to have your head if he hears that. But even those breeds donât seem quite right. There has to be one thatâs also intelligent. Ajax was somehow able to learn Cirrusâ maneuvers, and I know for a fact Mingi couldnât have taught him that flip.â
Jongho sighed, massaging his brow. âIâve always told you I didnât like him nor his ugly dragon. I plan to set up shop in my uncleâs library and we can dig deeper when Iâm in town. Youâre coming to his celebration, right?â
You groaned, pulling your pillow to your chest. âDo I have a choice?â
âIf you donât, Iâll tell everyone you think San is handsome.â
Rolling your eyes, you retorted, âSan is handsome. That doesnât work on me anymore.â
Jongho smirked, a mischievous glint in his eye. âFine, then Iâll tell everyone about the time you fell into the fountain trying to impress him.â
You gasped, sitting up abruptly. âChoi Jongho, you wouldnât dare!â
The grand hall of the Choi Estate was a sight to behold, a testament to the familyâs wealth and status. The walls were adorned with intricate tapestries depicting the familyâs storied history, their vibrant colors and detailed embroidery telling tales of valor and honor. The atmosphere was one of celebration and reverence, as friends and family gathered to honor the Choi patriarch on his special day.
Sanâs father, the elder General Choi, greeted guests up and down the hall, offering glass after glass of champagne and other spirits. His laughter boomed through the room, a testament to his larger-than-life personality. You managed to dodge him, offering your grandmother as a sacrificial lamb as you slipped away, her knowing smile indicating she was more than willing to take one for the team.
You weaved through the crowd, feeling a bit out of place in your simple but elegant strapless black gown. Its understated design contrasted with the more extravagant attire around you, yet the gownâs classic cut and the way it hugged your figure made you feel confident and poised.
âAre you here for a funeral or a celebration?â a familiar voice quipped behind you.
You whipped around to find San, the young General Choi, clad in a perfectly tailored suit that accentuated his broad shoulders and commanding presence. The corners of his mouth twitched into a smirk as he took in your startled reaction.
âVery funny,â you replied, rolling your eyes but unable to suppress a smile. âI was just trying to avoid your fatherâs relentless hospitality.â
San chuckled, his laughter a deep, comforting sound. âHe does have a way of overwhelming people with his enthusiasm,â he admitted, glancing over at his father, who was now engaged in a hearty conversation with a group of military officials. âLooking for someone?â
âJust a familiar face,â you murmured, your gaze drifting away from the General. You scanned the crowd, your heart pounding as you searched for a certain someone. Striking, charming, refined, and utterly infuriating, with an undeniable pullâa magnetic attraction you couldnât ignore.
âAm I not a familiar face?â San cocked his head, giving you one of his infamous cat-like smiles.
âYes, but youâre not the one Iâm looking for,â you scoffed, hitting his arm playfully.Â
San brought his hand to his chest, feigning a dramatic gasp. âAnd here I thought I was unforgettable.â
âYou are, just not in the way you think.â
âAh, so there is someone! Now Iâm intrigued.â
Unbeknownst to you, a pair of dark eyes watched from a distance. Seonghwaâs jaw tightened at the sight of you engaging with San, his usually composed demeanor slightly ruffled. A flicker of annoyance crossed his features as he struggled to maintain his cool amidst the growing irritation.
Trying to maintain his composure, he excused himself and stepped out into the cool night air. The distant noise of the party faded behind him as he took a deep breath, struggling to make sense of his conflicting emotions. How could he be so torn over someone who didn't even know how he felt?
âSeonghwa?â a familiar voice called out, breaking his moment of solitude. He turned to see Yeri, a former fling, standing a few feet away. She offered a tentative smile, as her eyes widened in calculated interest.Â
âYeri,â he acknowledged, his voice neutral but with a hint of underlying tension.Â
There was a brief, awkward silence before Yeri spoke again, her tone measured and deliberately soft. âItâs been a while, hasnât it?â
What had started as a casual, no-strings-attached situation between Seonghwa and Yeri had quickly turned into a short-lived romance riddled with miscommunication and trust issues. Seonghwa's demanding training schedule left Yeri feeling neglected and alone, while her need to maintain control on the crumbling relationship only added to the tension.
âYeah, it has,â he agreed, his gaze drifting to the city lights beyond the terrace in an attempt to avoid the emotional weight of the conversation.Â
âHowâve you been?â she asked, her tone smooth, almost tender though her eyes remained sharp.
âFine,â he replied, his irritation from earlier slowly ebbing away, replaced by a different kind of tension.
She studied him for a moment, her expression thoughtful and probing. âYou seemed a bit tense back there. Everything okay?â
Seonghwa sighed, leaning against the stone rail as his eyes wandered towards the grand hall, your figure only a few feet away from him. âJust⌠a lot on my mind, I guess.â
âWant to talk about it?â Yeriâs voice broke through his reverie, carrying a nostalgic note.Â
He hesitated, then shook his head. âItâs not important.â
Yeri took a step closer, her gaze growing more intense as she searched his face for cracks in his resolve. âWe used to share everything, remember? What happened to that?â
Despite their history, Yeri couldn't help but reach out to Seonghwa, feeding on his vulnerability to keep him tethered to her. "I know things ended badly, but we've both changed. Maybe we could give it another shot?"
Seonghwaâs emotions were a tangled mess as he looked into her pleading eyes. âYou know that things werenât good between us.â
Yeri took a step closer, her fingers lightly tracing the outline of his jaw. Her touch was gentle, almost tender, as she searched his eyes for any sign of resistance. âWhy does being together have to be the only option?" she whispered. She leaned in, her breath warm against his skin, and her lips brushed against his.
Seonghwa knew it was wrong, but he just needed an escape, allowing himself to be drawn back into her orbit. The kiss lingered on his lips like a bittersweet memory as he pulled away, his eyes clouded with regret. âWe canât do this here,â he whispered, his voice barely audible.
She nodded, understanding the need for discreteness. They walked in silence, the tension between them almost tangible as Seonghwa led them away from prying eyes. He couldnât shake the feeling that he was losing himself in the process, compromising his values for a fleeting moment of solace.
âThere you two are,â Jongho interrupted, sidling up to you and San with a glass of whiskey in hand. His eyes sparkled with mischief as he took a sip.
âFinally decided to grace us with your presence,â you teased, unable to hide the smile that spread across your face. Then, your brow furrowed in concern. âWait, arenât you too young to be drinking alcohol?â
In a rebellious gesture, Jongho lifted the glass again and finished off the remaining whiskey before sticking his tongue out at you playfully. âAge is just a number,â he retorted, letting out a satisfied sigh.Â
âIâm using this as an opportunity to network and improve diplomatic relations between Dune and Aurora,â he added with a mischievous grin, gesturing around the opulent room filled with dignitaries engaged in animated conversations.
San rolled his eyes at his younger cousin's antics. âI wouldnât exactly call selling dragons a networking opportunity,â he remarked dryly.
âIâm just trying to keep the family business afloat,â the younger Choi chuckled, unaffected by his cousin's skepticism.Â
Before you or San could respond, the room fell silent as Song Tae Gyu entered, his face unreadable. The grand hall, once filled with lively chatter and laughter, now buzzed with hushed whispers. Snippets of conversation about âMingi,â âthe Council,â and âunstable dragonâ floated through the air like a dark cloud.
âSong Tae Gyu has some nerve showing up after what his son pulled,â Jongho sneered, his gaze fixed on Mingiâs father with a stone-cold expression. Ever the purist, Jonghoâs disdain was palpable. You could almost feel the weight of his contempt for the way the Songs had let their son disgrace their house and the sanctity of dragon racing.
âHeâs simply carrying out his duties to my father,â San reminded his cousin, his voice composed despite the discomfort evident in his body language. He glanced around the room, noting the wary eyes and cautious glances directed at Song Tae Gyu. âI know the Songs feel terrible about the incident, but as a vassal House, they have their obligations.â
Sanâs words were measured, but you could sense the underlying tension. The incident with Mingi had cast a momentary shadow over the evening, and the presence of Song Tae Gyu only served to deepen the unease.Â
âAh, Tae Gyu! So glad you could make it!â the elder General Choi exclaimed, clapping a hand on the manâs shoulder. âI was just telling everyone about the time you and I got lost in the ravine and had to spend the night in a cave. Remember that?â
The room erupted in laughter as Lord Choi recounted the tale with exaggerated gestures, painting a vivid picture of their misadventure. Even Song Tae Gyu managed a small, grateful smile, the worry lines on his face softening.
Jongho rolled his eyes but couldnât suppress the small grin tugging at his lips. He took a sip from his glass, the warm liquid sliding down his throat as he mulled over his father's words. "Your father always knows how to lighten the mood," he muttered to San before turning to face you, swirling his empty glass in a playful gesture to signal his exit from the conversation.
âIâll be around tomorrow if you want to dig through the records. Iâm sure weâll find something on that wannabe Longhorn.â
âWhat did you say?â
âNothing, just bullshitting.â
âNo! About the wannabe part.â
Jongho stared at you incredulously. "He's a poor example of the breed, just like how his rider is a poor excuse--"
The mention of the word "wannabe" caught your attention like a firework exploding in your mind. You could feel your heart racing as you frantically searched your knowledge for any clues about this breed.
Wannabe⌠Imitation⌠Copy⌠The word echoed in your mind, reverberating with increasing intensity. Your breath caught in your throat, and your heart began to race as you frantically sifted through your mental catalog of dragon breeds and their levels of intelligence.
Dreamwood Ridgeback, biddable with high emotional intellect⌠Cascade Wyvern, alert and confident⌠Star Fury, fiercely intelligent but too rare⌠NettledâŚ
A sudden realization hit you like a bolt of lightning. You turned sharply to face San, your eyes widening with urgency and determination. "Do you have a copy of a breed encyclopedia?" You could almost feel the gears turning in your head, piecing together the clues and making connections. It was all starting to make sense now.
San looked momentarily puzzled, his brow furrowing as he tried to process your sudden question. Before he could respond, Jongho stepped in with a confident grin. âOf course they do, I left one here to read during summers,â he said, patting Sanâs shoulder in a playful yet slightly condescending manner, acknowledging his older cousinâs limited mental acuity.
âLonghorns arenât meant to be particularly intelligent,â you began, your voice steady but urgent. âBut if Ajax was able to learn Cirrusâ maneuvers, there could only be one breed that matches the description.â
The three of you exchanged tense looks, the weight of the mystery pressing down on you. Without another word, you all turned and rushed out of the hall, each step bringing you closer to uncovering the truth.
You were met with the scent of aged paper and polished wood as San pushed open the library doors. You couldn't help but pause to take in the vast collection, your fingers tracing lightly over the spines of leather-bound books before delving deeper into the labyrinth of shelves. Lost in your admiration, you turned a corner and suddenly froze.
There, in a secluded nook, you found Seonghwa tangled up in the arms of a woman. The intimate scene was a stark contrast to the peaceful setting of the library. Your breath caught in your throat, and your heart pounded in your chest.
âOh shit!â you gasped, the words slipping out before you could stop them. Your hands flew to cover your mouth as Seonghwa and Yeri sprang apart, their faces flushed with embarrassment. Seonghwaâs eyes darted toward yours, panic evident in his expression.Â
San, ever the protector, rushed to your side and positioned himself between you and the unexpected sight. For a moment, no one moved. The silence was deafening, broken only by Jonghoâs approaching footsteps.Â
âGods, Iâm so s-sorry, I didnât mean to interrupt!â you stammered, your voice attempting to sound casual despite the hurt and confusion swirling within you. Why am I feeling this way, you wondered, the question demanding an answer that you can't give.Â
You had always kept your relationship with Seonghwa strictly professional, despite the occasional flutter of emotions. Yet, seeing him with someone else stirred something unexpected within you. Was it jealousy? Or something deeper that you hadnât acknowledged before? The thought unsettled you, adding another layer to the already tangled web of emotions you felt towards him.Â
âI-I can explainâ,â Seonghwa fumbled as he buttoned his shirt, the movements clumsy and rushed. He haphazardly threw his jacket back on, the fabric wrinkling under his frantic efforts. Yeri, equally flustered, tried to smooth her disheveled hair, her cheeks burning with shame.Â
âWe were just catching up. Itâs been a long time since we last saw each other.â Her voice was shaky, betraying her own discomfort.Â
âWell,â San began, addressing Seonghwa and Yeri. âIf I had known the library would be used like this, I would have extended some charity to our esteemed guests.â His tone was polite but edged with a steely resolve that left no room for argument. âIâm sure we have a room befitting his grace as it appears that he is in desperate need of a hiding placeâlike a rat scurrying back into its hole.â
Yeri's face erupts in a fiery flush of humiliation as she hangs her head in shame, unable to bear the insulting words from San. San raises an eyebrow, daring either of them to stand up to him. "I'm leaving," she mumbles, quietly excusing herself without saying another word. As she walked away, the oppressive tension lingered in the air.
âR-Right. Well, I need to borrow the breed encyclopedia, so if I could justâŚâ You fidgeted awkwardly, your finger darting around as you tried to locate the book. Jongho, noticing your discomfort, pointed to the upper shelf behind the former lovers.Â
âItâs right there,â he said, his voice cutting through the thick silence as Seonghwa stepped aside to let you through. His eyes, filled with guilt, followed your every move.
"You good?" San asked, his protective instincts kicking in.
âIâve got it, I just have to climb up,â you replied, your tone firmer than you felt.Â
You began taking off your heels, the action giving you a moment to collect yourself. The cool marble against your bare feet contrasted the heat of your emotions. Lifting the skirt of your gown, you prepared to climb the ladder to the upper shelves when you felt Seonghwaâs hand on your arm. The unexpected touch sent a shock through you, and his grip was gentle yet firm, silently pleading for attention.
"I'll do it," he insisted, speaking in a low and earnest voice. You paused, looking up at him, meeting his eyes. In that moment, the vulnerability in his gaze disarmed you, but the hurt and confusion still swirled within your mind.Â
"Please.â
Reluctantly, you stepped aside, allowing him to retrieve the book. Each movement he made was careful and deliberate, as if he were trying to prove his worth through this small act. You watched him reach the upper shelf and retrieve the encyclopedia, its weight seemingly insignificant in his hands.Â
Sanâs eyes darted between you and Seonghwa. He couldnât make sense of why Seonghwa was so insistent on helping you, a rare display of protectiveness that went against his aloof nature. A knowing smirk tugged at the corner of his lips.
Seonghwa handed you the book, his hand lingering for a moment longer than necessary, as if he wanted to say something more. His eyes held a silent plea, a desperate hope for a chance to explain himself, but your focus remained elsewhere, avoiding the intensity of his gaze.
âThank you,â you murmured, clutching the book to your chest, its worn cover a small comfort as you put distance between yourself and Seonghwa. "I should get going," you suggested with exasperation evident in your voice.Â
The intensity of the situation was suffocating, and you needed an escape. Without waiting for a response, you turned on your heel and walked away, each step feeling like a small victory against the turmoil that threatened to consume you.Â
A wave of guilt washed over Seonghwa knowing that he was partially responsible for your sudden departure. His chest tightened and he clenched his fists, feeling the sting of his own actions. He stood there, paralyzed by the weight of his guilt, until Sanâs voice cut through the fog of his thoughts.
âI must say, your ability to find yourself in compromising situations never fails to impress me. It truly is a talent,â he remarked with mock admiration.
Seonghwaâs eyes flashed with anger as he spat out through gritted teeth, âAnd you seem to take great pleasure in reveling in anotherâs misfortune.â His voice was thick with venom, each word a dagger aimed at San.
âIsnât that exactly what you were doing to Y/N?" San replied, his tone casual and unbothered, as if Seonghwaâs seething rage was nothing more than a mild inconvenience.Â
Seonghwa opened his mouth to retort, but his words caught in his throat as his gaze fell to the ground. There, lying abandoned on the floor, were the heels you had left behind. The sight of them hit him like a punch to the gutâa reminder of your abrupt departure. His anger gave way as he walked over to pick up the shoes.
âI didnât know,â he muttered, more to himself than to anyone else. âI didnât mean to hurt her.â
âWell, sheâll be hurt more if she steps on a sharp object without any shoes on,â Jongho quipped dryly, his tone mixed with pragmatic concern. His eyes silently urged Seonghwa to go after you.Â
Seonghwa stood there for a moment, clutching your heels, his mind racing. He couldnât let you leave like this, not without explaining himself. Taking a deep breath to steady himself, he set out after you, determined to make things right.
âYou did not fly all the way home without your heels,â Sunmi yawned, cradling Siwoo in her arms. Your nephew let out a string of babbles, his tiny face scrunched up as if he were reprimanding you for your forgetfulness.
âJust did,â you said with a shrug, lifting the skirt of your gown and wiggling your bare toes in the air. âI mean, itâs not like I planned to leave my heels there and honestly, I didnât even notice until I got home,â you lied.Â
Sunmiâs eyebrows knitted together in concern as she studied you. âWhat happened?â she asked, her voice softening. She shifted Siwoo to her other arm, his tiny head resting against her shoulder. The gentle rise and fall of his breathing seemed to mirror the rhythm of your own anxious heartbeats.
You sighed deeply, feeling the weight of the eveningâs events, the exhaustion and emotional turmoil finally having caught up with you. âThis happened,â you said, holding up the encyclopedia for her to see. The book felt heavy in your hands, not just in weight but in the significance of what it represented.
âI think I mightâve figured out the other half of Ajaxâs pedigree. I didnât have my own copy so I borrowed Jonghoâs. Iâm going to do some work,â you explained, determined to solve the mystery youâve been chasing for months now.Â
You retreated to your study, sliding into your desk chair. Your fingers trembled slightly as you flipped through the pages, each one filled with intricate illustrations and detailed descriptions of various dragon breeds. A sense of awe washed over you as you read through breeds, old and newâeach more fascinating than the last. As you continued, your anticipation grew, until finally, your eyes landed on the page you were searching for.Â
You studied the avian-looking dragon. Its sleek, streamlined body was adorned with grotesque feathers hanging from its gangly, mismatched wings. The large, bug-like eyes bulged with an eerie intelligence, giving the dragon an almost alien appearance. They stared back at you with a knowing, unsettling awareness. Its sharp, curved beak-like snout added to its avian resemblance, but instead of elegance, it exuded menace and predatory intent, as if ready to strike at any moment.
âFound you,â you whispered, a triumphant smile spreading across your face. Your mind raced with the implications of this discovery, the pieces of the puzzle finally coming together. As you scribbled notes on your scratch pad, thoughts of your job at the Institute surfaced; the resources and access you had there could be invaluable for digging deeper into the investigation and revealing the truth about Ajax.Â
A sudden knock against your doorframe startled you from your thoughts. You blinked, momentarily readjusting your glasses to make sure you werenât imagining things.
âSeonghwa?â
Seonghwa stood in the doorway to your office, the soft light from the lamp casting a glow that accentuated his sharp features and the depth in his eyes. The usual strands of his updo were windswept, adding a touch of wildness indicating that he wasted no time trying to find you. His tie hung loosely around his neck, its knot undone splayed over his chestâand your stilettos, with their long, thin heels hung from his hands.Â
âYou forgot these.â He held out the heels, his expression sheepish as his eyes darted between the shoes and your face. The contrast between his usually confident demeanor and the awkwardness of the gesture made him all the more endearing.
Your fingers brushed against his in a brief, electric touch. âThank you,â you said, touched by his thoughtfulness. âYou didnât have to come all this way.â
He stepped closer, the scent of his cologne filling your senses, creating an intoxicating blend that heightened the tension between you. His eyes, usually so guarded, now held a vulnerability youâd never seen before.
âI realized Iâd never see you again if I didnât bring them,â he said, his words tumbling out quickly as if he feared losing the courage to say them. âAnd⌠I wanted to make sure you were okay.â
Seonghwaâs gaze lingered on you for a moment, taking in every detail of your appearance. He noticed your furrowed brow and the slight tilt of your head as you spoke. His eyes traced the curve of your neck to your collarbone, where the strapless black gown rested. The way the lamplight highlighted the contours of your features made him forget how to breathe.
âYou havenât changed out of your gown?â he asked, his voice softening with genuine curiosity and admiration.
You yawned and stretched slightly. âItâs too pretty to take off.â
âIt suits you.â You felt a blush creep up your cheeks, and you looked away, trying to hide your smile.
âGuess I just didnât want the night to end.âÂ
He took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling as he tried to steady himself. âIâm sorry, Y/N,â he said, his voice barely above a whisper.
You raised an eyebrow, feeling a knot form in your stomach. âWhat are you apologizing for?â
âI made a mess of things, and you got caught in the crossfire,â he confessed, his voice cracking. âSeeing you hurt because of what happened in the library has been eating away at me. I never, never meant to hurt you. It made me realize that I donât want to lose you.â
His words hung in the air, heavy with regret and desperation. You could see the anguish in his eyes, the way his hands trembled slightly as he spoke. You looked down at the heels in your hands, feeling a swell of emotions rise within you before setting them down.Â
âYouâre only human, Seonghwa,â you said softly, despite the storm swirling within you. âWe all make mistakes. What matters is that youâre here now, trying to make things right. So, thank you.â
You let the words settle between you before taking your own breath. âWhile you're here, IâmâŚthinking of going back to the Institute,â you say. âI think Iâve figured out Ajaxâs missing half but I donât think our case against the necropsy will be very effective if I donât have access to all the necessary resources.âÂ
Seonghwaâs expression shifted from relief to a playful glint as he leaned in. âI bare my soul to you and youâre already leaving me?â
You scoffed. âI wouldnât consider that soul baring,â you smiled, trying to ignore the flutter in your chest.
"Guess I'll have to visit you every day since you'll be close to the capitol," he murmured, his voice deep and teasing as he leaned in. âI donât plan on letting you go back to Wooyoung that easily.â Seonghwa's hand takes hold of your face, his thumb sweeping across your jawline.
You welcomed his touch, yet the weight of your true feelings was almost too much to bear. A raw ache in your chest served as a painful reminder: Seonghwa was not yours, and he never would be. You had accepted this, even if it stung more than you were willing to admit.Â
