Ok, the new art Is literally rolling into my head over and over again, so im gonna talk real quick about HOW FREAKING MUCH I LOVE HOW RIN LOOKS IN HERE, and also proceed to overanalyze it without any foundation bc i can

Important note: obviously all this is just my (bias) perspective and how I perceive things (literally I can made up a metaphor from a yogurt container so this is also me letting me go rambling on and on)

OK FIRST

The pose that Rin does here is an obvious reference to "I'll show you a sight..." (or at least that's how i interpret it lol) and i freaking love that, because it is a subtle way of showing what is, after all, the heart of the series, seeing, discovering for the first time that view that changed Rin, Haru and the others, uniting them and making the essence of "freedom" and "team" become stronger, the moment Rin and Haru saved eachother...

Now, as we all now know the One who is doing the pose here is Haru, and you know what? this kind of pose (either haru extending his hand or just doing something with his hand) is recurring in some other Free! official arts:

I know that in one he's holding a ring but still counts for me

And deciding that Rin's pose reference to something that distinguishes Haru is only a way to further strengthen the bond and parallels between them and the impact that both have left on the other, and speaking of impact...

Leaving that aside, I'm really rolling with excitement because they're blue flowers. BLUE FLOWERS. The flowers are directly related to the blossom of things, and in Japan the term that emotions have "blossomed" is widely used, in addition, flowers (obviously i'm talking about the sakuras) are a very important in Rin and Haru's relationship!!

I like the idea that this not only symbolizes an element of Haru in Rin's clothing, but also, the way in which Rin accepts Haru's presence totally, present and necessary, we could say that Haruka has managed to fully "grow" and "bloom" in Rin...

side note: idk who he thought the idea about Rin wearing some kind of see-through shirt under the plaid shirt, but well...

Holly is the BIGGEST history geek nerd you will ever meet.

While they and Radi were sealed together, she taught them a lot of ancient history. And when I say ancient I mean Before Bugs Became Sentient And Also Human Sized. Over 60k years before the events of EP.

Because of Radi’s teachings, Holly also knows a whole lot about Draconic religion and stuff. Radi is Ymiiva’s daughter, after all; of course she’d wanna talk about her family at some point.

saw @athina-blaine's ask abt a labru gamer AU so let me present my split second dunmeshi minecraft server thoughts

• thistle: created the server. Refuses to budge on the rules he put in place on day one, except for like 2 notable exceptions. Barely plays but always memorable when he does, builds the weirdest shit and then logs off for months at a time

• delgal: notable exception #1, he asked thistle to make it normal survival mode instead of hardcore bc it was too high stress. used to play very frequently until he got a new PC and moved on to other games. thistle has forbidden the other players from destroying the castle he made

• senshi: has taken it upon himself to do all of the farming and cooking in the game, has figured out the best ways to make the most efficient farms, is wildly talented w redstone but only in terms of making it easier to grow crops and breed friendly mobs. eagerly awaits new food recipes with each update

• laios: has made it his personal goal to capture each of the hostile mobs and keep it in his base as a personal monster showcase. Goes on hour-long mining excursions to fortify his base because the blazes and ghasts keep destroying their enclosures. Wants to find an ender portal but just to get shulker boxes, determined to figure out how to defeat the ender dragon without killing it

• falin: notable exception #2, she asked thistle to turn on keep inventory because she kept exploring and getting too lost but she didn't want to die and lose all of her stuff. has heard stories about the limits of the world borders and the farlands and is determined to find them. Good at avoiding hostile mobs but not at keeping herself alive so she tends to die from starvation or falls, senshi's most frequent visitor when she stocks up for her next excursion

• chilchuck: started playing to understand the game better when his daughters got into it, now it's developed into a guilty pleasure. The one who supplies the rest of the gang with materials as needed, loves the grind of collecting a billion stacks of cobblestone and dirt. Goes to the end w laios just to collect endstone, same w the nether. Also responsible for keeping the chests meticulously organized, he gives everyone hell if they mess up his system

• marcille: not usually one for survival games but got hooked when falin showed her the redstone systems and potion making. Has made a machine for everything she possibly could, is currently figuring out a fast travel system in the nether so falin can go further than she normally can in the overworld. Relies on chilchuck to fund all of her projects bc she's deathly afraid of mining and getting blown up by creepers. Goes to the end w laios to see if she can expand on the teleportation mechanics of ender pearls (is very disappointed when she can't)

• kabru: joined at laios's request, secretly hated minecraft and preferred the sims but still plays because he found out that you can make your own collection of villagers to trade with and consequently became obsessed. Didn't know about the pillagers and almost rage quit when they killed his villagers and destroyed his progress while laios just tried to catch the ravager to add to his monster zoo. Now recruits laios whenever pillagers show up bc he doesn't want to deal with the raids

• izutsumi: banned for griefing when she lured a creeper into a wing of delgal's castle where she'd put a bunch of tnt

Raph listens to you as he works out, both of you spending some time together while doing your own thing. He doesn’t quite get it, but you also don’t get his obsession with lifting.

He somehow absorbs the information while he works out and it ends up saving him from the Purple Dragons or even Donnie’s messed up contraptions.

People get a new perspective on the big turtle. Maybe he’s a little smarter than they gave him credit for.

Leonardo only lets it slide with you and it’s so obvious it hurts. He tells Donnie to shut up about the new satellite in the atmosphere but urges you to continue when you bring up the same topic hours later.

Basically asks you a bunch of questions on stuff he overhears Donnie talking about. Not because he cares, duh, but because he just wants to talk to you. He’s just scared his normal topics of conversation won’t do well with you.

It takes him a while to tell you that he doesn’t know what you’re talking about half the time. Either you dumb it down for him or you start to talk about skateboarding and fighting.

Donatello and you have long discussions at family dinner or even at family movie nights. It’s gotten to the point where his family has considered banishing you both from family activities.

It’s how you first bonded. But it’s now how you two fight. You two will argue over stupid things that don’t matter at the end of the day.

Which battery is the best? Which keyboard should you use? What’s the best way to rewire a computer? What’s the best way to hack into a firewall? Everything is debated between you two.

Mikey will ask questions that will trigger you into a nerd out moment. He adores all your hand gestures and movements as you get more and more into what you’re saying.

He will sigh dreamily at you as you continue to explain all these different theories and hypotheses to him.

He always tries to repeat what you said back to his brothers, always saying how cool you are that you know all this stuff. Leo and Raph ignore him while Donnie scoffs and rolls his eyes. Jealousy.
