Does anyone have random Dragon Age headcannons that don't really have any big implications and just make things a little more fun?
I'll start: I've always thought that Blackwall/Thom Rainer is half-elven. No real reason beyond me thinking that his nose looked the way elf noses in Da2 looked and deciding so. I also think it makes his story sorta juxtapose Michele de Chevin's and may have motivated him (at least a bit) to decline the Chevaliers offer at the Grand Tourney

Rook to Solas:
So the inquisitor is your ex?….
… how did you drop the ball that badly?
I mean … c’mon Most people in Thedas would never dream of letting her go…
But just so we are clear she is single right?….

Spite is a creature of habit and looses it when things change suddenly, especially if no one has bothered to sit him down and talk about said change. Once he lives somewhere that is his home. Once he likes someone this is his friend. Anything that breaks his bubble is a threat and he will make his annoyance be known. Lucanis moved back to Antiva? Spite became a feral little gremlin for a solid week. (He chills out once he gets used to it)
Rook had to go on a trip? He will not shut up about finding Rook until she comes back.
Worse. Lucanis has a contract to deal with? Spite will be pestering him the whole time to hurry up so they can go home.
He's a creature of habit, and he makes it everyone else's problem.

Yall im sorry I cant get Corrupted Inquisitor (Elgarnan’s champion of vengance.) out of my head
Elgarnaan once free purposefully goes after Lavellan after hearing about the skyweaver who lost everything on so many occasions
Elgarnaan uses magic to repress everything that makes the Inquisitor a hero. Elgarnaan removes regret ,remorse, guilt and sets The Inquisitor loose as his champion of Vengeance (Bonus points if mage, female or non-binary,or non human race.)
The first place the Inquisitor goes for Vengeance?… The chantry that took the most prevalent trauma of their life and exploited it for a hero story thrusting them in a position they did not ask for or consent to… derailing the life they had and replacing it with an uncertain one under public scrutiny (Again bonus points if they have their own gods.)
For corrupted Lavellan specific The Second target would be the Duke of Wycome and everyone who works for him a Clan for a Clan. (Justice under the influence of Elgarnaan.)and corrupted Lavellan is the opposite of Inquisitor Lavellan they don’t forgive the Duke of Wycome, they don’t move on they camp out in the ruins once belonging to clan Lavellan where the bodies of all they knew and loved are buried and they hunt every one of the Duke of Wycome’s men down slowly. Corrupted Lavellan makes them feel every inch of what Lavellan believed their clan would have…. corrupted Lavellan is cold tactics only… and the Duke of Wycomes men are killed on by one brutally in a way that is the opposite of the Lavellan The Inquisition knew.
For Qunari Inquisitor this would be them going after the Qun who used them as a puppet their whole lives who stripped them of thought of choice of will… Now Corrupted Inquisitor will strip them of the exact same an eye for an eye
Now Regular Human super privilege Inquisitor would go after the Exalted Council next forcibly thrust into a position they didn’t ask for to gain eyes on them they never asked for only to have these people strip it away as soon as it was given toying with the Inquisitors life again?! Then having the audacity to say that They gave the inquisition too much power…. Maybe they should learn what too much power actually is? What it feels like to have your entire life subjected to the puppet strings of another unseen hand
Corrupted Inquisitor the champion of Elgarnaan then turns their Vengeful gaze on Their shared “Enemy.” Solas/Fenharel. The corrupted Inquisitor under the influence of Elgarnaan confronts Solas on every repressed thought and memory they had on his betrayal.
For Corrupted Lavellan its worse it is so much worse because either Solas sees the love of his life or one of his closest/only friends corrupted into the opposite of everything they stood for and acting in a way that would horrify and disgust normal Lavellan It is like looking into the eyes of a stranger and he is forced to be in the position he put the Inquisitor in. Kill them to save everyone or make them remember who they are through great effort
in freeing The Inquisitor from Elgarnaans influence Solas has to confront all his own shit to help them confront theirs and break Elgarnaans hold over them
Im sorry Im a little obsessed with corrupted Inquisitor
UwU
Yall realize Solas let out Elgarnan out most likely …. Elgarnan is the god of revenge Which character in this series would have the most reason to get revenge on a large amount of people?
The Inquisitor and it works for almost every origin
Warrior Inquisitor getting revenge on mages
Qunari Inquisitor taking out years of pent up frustration at the Qun
Dwarf Inquisitor getting revenge on the cartels and gangs of the deeproads
Mage Inquisitor hunting Templars
And elvhen specific is juicy ….
Imagine Elgarnan using magic to alter Lavellan’s morals based on their pain and trauma …. Imagine Elgarnan taking away the one thing holding Lavellan back their Empathy…and ability to feel remorse
Now imagine the roles are reversed and the Inquisitor is the big bad and Solas has to stop them

In my HC Crow Rook teasing Lucanis about having two houses is hilarious because like… Viago definitely has two houses.
This is the man who wouldn’t be seen dead with a bottle of wine at least three times as expensive as this, who sends Rook to get info during an occupation at least a little for the art exposure and is also canonically arguably the most paranoid man in Thedas.
There’s no part of me that doesn’t headcannon that he has two houses he has the family villa where all the crows of House de Riva are welcome and all the crows in other houses think he lives and then he has his actual villa where he lives and only Rook knows about it. In fact when she finds Teia there one day during a sabbatical from the lighthouse that’s how she knows Viago is seriously serious about Teia because only two, now three, people in the world know of this house and who lives there.

You know, I saw some people theorising (jokingly or not) that Caterina was the one who knitted his little sweater. But I raise you this headcannon : Lucanis knitted it himself. He likes knitting (it involves somewhat stabby needles, and have you seen all the knives on him?), and he finds it meditative like taking care of his blades. And if he likes Rook, he'll knit them a cute little sweater too, maybe a scarf to go with it. Knitting for people is his love language.

DA Fandom: Rook is a chaotic little goblin who's top skill is being a problem. They probably wear mismatched socks to work and set their kitchen on fire. Also, the government pays them to do this.

Alternative ending where Varric gets sucked into the fade prison with Solas but Rook can’t see him bc they only have the tenuous connection to Solas through their blood and so instead of being revealed as Fucking Evil at the end of the game Solas is actually redeemable AND you find out your mentor is still alive and that he has also been a voice of reason for Solas and convinced him to work with you towards the mutual goal of taking down the gods and they have played SO MUCH Wicked Grace to pass the time like the good old days and everyone is happy and gets a good ending LIKE THEY DESERVE

Todoroki: Why are you smiling like that? You look suspiciously like the cat that swallowed the pidgeon.
Uraraka: Canary.
Todoroki: What?
Uraraka: I look like the cat that swallowed the canary.
Todoroki: I once had a very large cat-not the point! My point is, why are you smirking?
Uraraka: You were watching him.
Tsuyu: With great interest I might add.
Uraraka: In fact, I believe you were ~enraptured~.
Todoroki: He's Midoriya, I look to him for guidance!
Uraraka: Oh I see.
Tsuyu: And what 'guidance' did you see in those swaying hips?
Todoroki: No no no! I wasn't looking at his hindquarters!
Uraraka: Certainly.
Todoroki: I gazed-glanced in that direction, maybe! But I wasn't staring, or really seeing anything.
Uraraka: Of course.
Todoroki: I hate you guys. You're bad people.

No one can convince me that this man hasn't pet every stray cat in Treviso. I can picture him stopping to pet them and trying to make it look casual, but really, it's the only serotonin boost he knows he can easily achieve. I personally believe he has nicknames for all of them and leaves treats and food out on the casino balcony's for them so that they come around more often. He's so soft and just wants to cuddle a fluffy little animal that vibrates against his chest when he's sad.
I love to imagine Rook in a romance with him, steals a kitten from Treviso or Mintathous to give to Lucanis. It's a feral little thing that hates everyone and scratched Rook a million times just while they were trying to put it in his room/pantry. But, it LOVES Lucanis. It immediately takes a liking to him and sleeps on his chest or lap every moment it can. And SPITE loves it. Lucanis can sleep without worrying as long as the kitten is sleeping on him, because Spite just can't bring himself to wake the baby.
I hope someone enjoys these mental images as much as I do
PS the kitten's name is Talon because when Lucanis went to ask about/thank Rook for his new child, they were completely COVERED in little tiny scratches from the neck down anywhere their armor had openings 😂

So.. In most videogames, you have the "journal" where you keep codices, quests, character details.. Etc. So here are some of my personal journal-keeping troupes for various videogame MCs!
Dark urge, BG3-
Memory issues. They want to keep a record of everything while it's still fresh in their head.. As someone who struggles with a lot of short term memory loss, and has blocked out a lot of my childhood due to various traumas, I understand a lot of the fear and panic that comes with not remembering things. Not to mention the severe head trauma Orin caused to Durge, they'd probably continue to have memory problems throughout the rest of their life, even after the whole ordeal with the netherbrain.
The Warden, Dragon age: Origins-
I feel like someone gave the Warden an empty journal before they left with Duncan.. For my personal playthrough, I believe it was Hahren Paivel, elder of clan Sabrae. He was far from a mentor, but he was there when my Warden was born. He watched her learn and grow among her cousins, Merrill and Tamlen. He watched them play, and fight. He watched her rival with her best friend, and he watched her get hurt, and leave. Judged her actions no more than he praised her victories.. She had always been so invested in their stories, and learning about their culture. And while Paivel had never had such a respectful child, willing to listen and learn.. He also had never seen one so stuck in a past that they had barely lived themselves. I feel like Paivel wanted her to focus on making new stories of the dalish, and record her own adventures, rather than simply mourning being away from home.
Rhen, Aveyond 1-
I feel like she always kept a journal, but wanted to record everything even more after she was kidnapped. After all, it all started with her trying to find a way home, rather than anything else. I feel like she wanted to record a diary, in case she died, so that her parents would know what happened. Or perhaps, as an optimist, she wanted to keep it so she could show everyone back at Clearwater when she finally returned home. To tell stories of her adventures.
Hawke, da2-
Firm belief that Hawke didn't keep a journal. Ever. Their bestie Varric wrote his book about the hero of kirkwall, and Hawke wrote sassy commentary in the margins.
The inquisitor, DAI-
I feel like the inquisitor is just a massive fucking nerd at heart, and would definitely go on a lecture style rant every half hour if they weren't so goddamn stressed and tired all the time. I headcannon that my personal inquisitor used to work at the Black emporium, acquiring various old relics and shit for the job because they genuinely just loved learning about things, so they record and catalog everything.
Darc and Kharg, Arc the lad: twilight of the spirits-
Darc doesn't keep a journal, he's too much for that. Always in a rush for the next step, hot blooded and ambitious. Plus, he's traumatized and doesn't want to remember shit.- I feel like if anyone in his group kept a journal, it would probably be Volk- But not just any journal. He would probably use one that his wife or children kept before they had died. One that smells like his family. Maybe he feels like he's carrying on a pass time they enjoyed, and puts aside his desire for revenge for the night just to feel close to his family again before bed.
Kharg on the other hand is such a flamboyant little princess who thinks everything he does is important that I wholeheartedly believe he would keep a journal just because he thinks people are going to care enough to read it in a library one day. Bro is so full of himself that it's actually insane. Fuck you, Kharg.

Headcannoning that Zevran was the one who killed Lucanis's parents for angst reasons.
Caterina sent the two best assassins after that little thorn in her side after he started becoming an issue. Embarrass the Crows in Fereldon is one thing. Killing a Talon is another.
So she sent the two assassins she could rely on the most, only for them to come back in body bags. A message sent. She lost her best assassin and favorite daughter. Worst little Lucanis lost his parents, and all cause Caterina couldn't just leave Zevran alone.
And can Lucanis even hate Zevran for it (I mean he probably does)? Zevran was protecting himself and the love of his life. Who wouldn't do what he did?

Nothing in any lore connects my people to the Old God Dragons who became Archdemons.
Spoilers below, you've been warned, heads up, #Long Post
Tumblr media
In the rotunda with Solas, you have the options to ask him some questions about Corypheus.
Inky: Tell me about his orb. I would like to know more about the orb he carries. As I said, that must be the means by which he created the breach. I suspect the blast that destroyed the conclave was more accident than anything. The result of unlocking power that had sought release for ages. What I cannot understand is how he managed to survive such an explosion. Inky: (Is the orb Elvhen) You said you believed that the orb is Elvhen? *Solas in the most snooty, condescending tone: I never would have believed a Tevinter mage could unlock such a powerful Relic. It clearly enhances his abilities, giving him access to power he should never have known. Inky: Like the power to control the archdemon? Indirectly, one assumes. Nothing in any lore connects my people (Ancient Elvhen) to the Old God Dragons who became Archdemons.
What? Why wouldn’t it? You got 7 Evanuris (+ Mythal), 7 Old Gods. People wernt stupid. Why wouldn’t you make a connection? THEY ALREADY MADE THE CONENCITON IN THE ASTRARIUMS.
And he doesn't say THERE ISNT or THERES NO CONNECTION… he says NOTHING IN ANY LORE… Did he scrub the lore?
Why would he? To prevent others from trying to ascend to godhood like he had?
Nothing in any lore connects my people (Ancient Elvhen) to the Old God Dragons who became Archdemons.
Sidebar: Im super mad at how a Dalish Inky DOESN’T question him more about this. Who are HIS people? We know at this point Solas does not consider himself Dalish. But he’s not a city elf. So what is he? WHY doesn’t the Inquisitor, especially a DALISH Inquisitor, ask him more about this? It makes me big mad.
And as of the leak today,
We absolutely 100% know that, if the Old Gods were not 100% The Evanuris, they are at last a third the Evanuris.
(OP why you making me do math, why a third? Why not half?)
Lets rewind.
Long ago, when time itself was young, the only things in existence were the sun and the land. The sun, curious about the land, bowed his head close to her body, and Elgar'nan was born in the place where they touched. As a gift to Elgar'nan, the land brought forth great birds and beasts of sky and forest, and all manner of wonderful green things. —From Codex entry: Elgar'nan: God of Vengeance
Lets take this to mean, not the literal birth of the man, but the creation of a God. The Sun bowed his neck (like a dragon neck), to touch the land (like a titan), and the first God was born.
Interesting Thing 1) He just called his clan leader a keeper. But a Keeper is the mage leader of a Dalish clan. We assume this is a dwarf because we find it in the Deep Roads, but this might be an elf. An elf who's whole clan was decimated and is going to join the Qun.
Codex entry: Torn Notebook in the Deep Roads, Section 2 Many of these pages are filled with sketches of elven statues matching the ones found in the area, along with notes and what look like attempts to practice Qunlat: They say the agents of Fen'Harel caused trouble in the Crossroads. I wish I knew. I wish whoever fights in the name of the old wolf was around to fight when the darkspawn took my clan. Mine is not to question. I have chosen the Qun. The Qun will protect me. Rethost: You all protect Rethadim: They all protect Rethsaam: We all protect These statues are older than anything I saw in my days with the clan. The area's dwarven, though. What were the ancient elves doing down here? Mining? Where were the dwarves? Easier to have them mine it. Not a trading post. You don't go into a friend's home, knock over their gods, and put up your own. War? I don't remember any legends about our people fighting the dwarves. Though I remember my Keeper telling a story about how the dwarves fear the sun because of Elgar'nan's fire. A metaphor for the elves of Arlathan driving the dwarves underground? The Qunari like metaphors. I should share that.
Interesting Thing 2) the dwarves fear the sun because of Elgar'nan's fire.
Codex entry: Dwarven Inscriptions: Hissing Wastes Fairel, Paragon, fled from the strife his brilliance created, the strife that destroyed thaigs, sundered houses, from weapons that clan used against clan. His own clan and his two sons followed Fairel to the pitiless surface, the surface where they would hide from the war that took their home.
"Oh yeah, I remember that. Fuck I hated the Hissing Wastes."
Codex entry: A Journal on Dwarven Ruins (Excerpt) … The statues here were chiseled thousands of years ago, I'm sure of it. … The writing talks about "the sad parting from the Stone." … … It's a Paragon. The man who lead the people here, who built this city, was master smith Paragon Fairel…. ... I was tracing heraldry etched on a wall when I noticed pictures of weapons with winged lizards worked into the decoration. I spent the rest of the day translating the inscriptions. This verse was apparently passed down through Fairel's house, through his father to his father's father and so on for hundred of generations: "From the Stone, have no fear of anything, but the stone-less sky betrays with wings of flame. If the surface must be breached, if there is no other way, bring weapons against the urtok, and heed their screams." "Urtok" means "dragon." Why was it part of an ancient crest? Why were these dwarves so worried about a monster they'd never see that they worked it into their weapons? This place becomes more impossible each day.
Lets Assume then, that the Elgar’nan’s fire, is Urtok fire. Dragon fire. That’s the Sun. It’s the Sun in dwarven legend, AND, it’s the sun in Elgar’dad’s story.
OK. We got Dragon and Titan.
Sun and Stone.
Sun + Stone + Elf/Mage = God?
Blue and Yellow?
Remember the Flemyth/Kieran Scene. (In my headcannon, these are called Navi-bitches)
Tumblr media
We KNOW with 100% certainty that Urthemiel is a blue navi-bitch.
I think it is safe to say that all of the Dragon Navi’s are blue because of the last Flemythal scene in DA:I. A blue wisp goes through the mirror (Urthemiel we assume?) and another blue navi-bitch goes from Flemyth to Solas, effectively killing Flemyth.
So let’s assume ALL dragon Navi-souls are blue.
Tumblr media
Blue and Gold waves (probably magic). – with the 8 pointed star (right elf) in light green, and the "sun" in red (center).
(I think its safe to assume now the center red sun is either a red lyrium grove or blighted lyrium)
Tumblr media
The Gold Titan heart, with Anruils spear.
Only thing I cant figure is why the 8 pointed star in the gold elfs arms is green.
Its not blue, its not gold anymore.
And Corypheus’s orb is red:  (maybe because it got infected with red lyrium/the blight?)
Tumblr media
OUR Mark (The Inquisitors Hand) is Green… so maybe when a Titan heart is taken out of the mountain it turns green?
Looks like Corypheus tried to overpower the orb and that’s why it fucked him in the face?
Tumblr media
See green and green? And Corypiss is red.
“Dumat! Ancient Ones! I beseech you! If you exist, if you ever truly existed, aid me now!”
And the orb smack-fucks Corypants in the FACE. Get fucked scrub we don’t like your tainted power.
Tumblr media
And the orb is green again.
Are ALL orbs green? Or only THIS one?
I mean, basic colour theory tells us that blue and yellow make green, but we already know the old gods were separated from their orbs because of Kierans blue Navi-bitch.
What happened to the rest of them? What happened to the rest of the Blue Dragon Navi’s? Does putting them into a warden and then killing the warden actually kill the blue spirit?
Tumblr media
This is a screenshot from Varrics voiceover (Spoiler Alert).
Looks like an orb to me.
And she’s gold. Maybe slightly green.
SO, where does all of this lead.
Tumblr media
Five Gold semicircles missing - 5 Blights. 5 Archdemons. 5 Old Gods. 5 of the Evanuris. But we KNOW their Navi's were blue. Why use Gold? [To erase the Elf-Dragon aspect, Solas you sly fox?]
And where are they now?
We can assume Morrigan has a Dragon-Navi. Solas has a Dragon-Navi. That still leaves 3 or 4 (if Solas has Mythals Navi or a different Old God Navi).
... It really really bothers me that the star outside of the titan is green.
“Emerald water of the Fade”? Is it because the fade itself whenever we’ve gone in it is green-ish? Is the Fade just green? Is magic green?
Fuck it lets go full circle.
Nothing in any lore connects my people to the Old God Dragons who became Archdemons.
Ok Solas. Why?
Solas painted the Trespasser Frescos. He catalogued the evidence of the Evanuris Sundering Titans.
WHY?
Why “remember” the killing of the Titans and NOT that the Old Gods were the Evanuris?
He wanted the Evanuris gone because he wanted to free the elves from the tyranny of the Evanuris (I’m assuming they were using slaves for blood magic-that’s another lore rant). He was angry that they “killed” Mythal.
Solas wants Him freeing slaves, and Him removing vallaslin, remembered. He wants his creation of the veil to be remembered, but he doesn’t want anyone to know the Old Gods = Locked up Evanuris Navi’s.
WHY?
Why show people essentially how to become gods, sundering titans, but ignore the dragon part?
Honestly I don’t know at this point my brain hurts. And I have so many questions now.
Where are the rest of the Evanuris?
Where my Shadow Twins at?
Looking way more likely now that Ghilly is actually Anduil-Ghilly Hybrid, w/ a bit of parasitic-twin-syndrome going on.
Sylaise and June? I have so many questions for you, we didn’t even get to meet you.
WHERE ARE YOU?
Tumblr media
Yavana is an infamous Antivan (biiitch we're going there in DATV) Witch of the Wilds known as the "Beast of the Tellari swamps".
Yavana Quotes:
"The blood of dragons is the blood of the world."
(to Alistair) Your heart beats with the old blood, as well. Where do you think it comes from? It sings of a time when dragons ruled the skies. A time before the Veil, before the mysteries were forgotten. Can you hear it?"
Alistair: "You and Morrigan and Flemeth...all you do is manipulate and lie."
Yavana: "That is our craft, but not our purpose. Mankind destroys without understanding, yet I preserve."
Yavana, my girl. Hunny. Girlboss. What are you preserving sweetie? And WHERE ARE THEY NOW THAT ALISTAIR KILLED YOU? WHO HAS THE NAVI’S, YAVANA??
And WHY is it so damn important for SOLAS Mythal to stop the rest of the world from figuring it out?

*Veilguard Thought*
So, not really a spoiler. More of a headcannon related to a banter. Lucanis tells Taash he has a pet snake. One that, one would assume, was kept by the Crows while he was trapped in the Ossuary.
No idea what kind, but did he bring it with him to the Lighthouse?
And if so, does it live in Harding’s greenhouse???
Cause she’s the only other dedicated Rogue (Belara is a mage who happens to use a bow) and she’s used to animals, right? I just picture her working in there at the beginning, pulling out all the dead stuff/planting new sprouts and a little corn or king snake just slithers up and she has a heart attack, cause she doesn’t know it’s a real (because they’re in the Fade).
And Lucanis (freshly recruited and very tired) just spends the next several days apologizing, cause it’s the only place warm enough and he can’t rightly keep it in the pantry with him. So, they end up compromising.
He buys a tank for her to put the snake in at night and she lets it wander the garden during the day to eat bugs and mice that might wanna nibble on her plants.
