romance tropes ࿐ ࿔*:・゚
hp boys x reader (ft. harry potter, ron weasley, fred weasley, draco malfoy, cedric diggory, remus lupin, sirius black, james potter, tom riddle) backtrack: “daydreamin’”, ariana grande inspiration: tropes are just fun
harry potter
secret relationship
harry hugged a friend and ended up on the front page of the newspaper for it. now, granted, that was because that absolute piece of sh rita skeeter was stalking him. but it doesn’t change the fact that harry is like an actual celebrity. and it’s not like he’s an attention seeker or likes having eyes on him at all times, and he hates it when other people get dragged because of him. so he’d place a lot of importance on hiding your relationship to protect you.
first love
harry in the books just gives naive, first love energy. he’s not used to actually being liked by people, and the concept of dating was foreign to him until like third or fourth year anyway. he’d most likely be nervous and awkward around you at the start of the relationship, and you’d go through many little arguments and larger trials. but if you can work it out and stay with each other, you will find that your love is like the view at the top of a mountain--well worth the climb.
ron weasley
friends to lovers
maybe this is subtly influenced by his canon romance with hermione, but I feel like ron is so defined by his loyalty and his “being a good friend” that being friends with him is a crucial predecessor to becoming his partner for life. he notices good looks just as much as any teenage boy would, but for him to really develop a connection with his soulmate, he needs to get to know them too. ron’s best friend is his soulmate, and his soulmate is nothing short of his best friend.
fake relationship
ron pretends to get into a relationship because his mother is always on him about when he’s going to finally get a partner. pretty self-explanatory. he gets teased relentlessly about it by his siblings--even they don’t know it’s fake--and he’s constantly apologizing about you having to always go over to his house and talk to his family. but you love his family, so you don’t mind. and after a few months of awkward hand holding and family dinners, you start to love ron too.
fred weasley
best friend's brother / brother's best friend
honestly, these tropes are similar. you spend a lot of time around each other when you’re young. at first you just think he’s cute and funny, but as you start seeing each other more, you find yourself constantly thinking about him. and he’s thinking about you too, but he knows you’re supposed to be off limits. when you start hanging out together, alone, you’re initially both opposed to the idea of being in a relationship. but after gathering up the courage to ask your best friend / brother and receiving some grudging approval, you get together.
unrequited love
I debated between ron and fred for this trope (maybe it’s just the weasley family, I’m sorry but they’re so awkward and nervous around their crushes, absolutely no game). fred has had his eyes on you forever. when you were younger he’d constantly ask you out; and you’d reject him every time, thinking he was always joking or pranking you. but when you’re in your fifth year he tries again, one more time; and when you meet him in the courtyard like he requested he has a bouquet of your favorite flowers in hand. his face is bright red as he gives them to you, and you can’t resist teasing him a little before finally agreeing to date him.
draco malfoy
arranged marriage
this is the trope that started this post. draco’s parents find him a suitable partner to marry, and at first you start off kind of awkward and distant around each other. but then something in the wall cracks, and you start to open up more and more. soon polite touches and awkward glances become genuine laughter and instinctive hand-holding. and next thing you know, an unbreakable bond is formed.
forbidden love
draco’s got a reputation to uphold. the malfoy family has a reputation to uphold. and maybe this is wishful thinking and idealizing his character, but I like to think that he wouldn’t care about his soulmate’s blood status if you have a true connection. initially, you sneak glances at each other during classes. these glances turn into short notes handed subtly to each other while in the hallways or in the dining hall. these notes turn into brief meetings in the library or the courtyard where nobody can see you. there’s no need to showcase your relationship. and draco wouldn’t mind keeping your meetings secret for a little while longer. besides, there’s something about meeting secretly and knowing you’re not supposed to be together that gives him an adrenaline rush like nothing else. I don’t know. I mean, in canon he married astoria greengrass, who wasn’t a part of the “true” pure blood line, so I’m hoping he’d be willing to go a step further. I don’t know. maybe this trope would be a better fit for sirius.
cedric diggory
childhood marriage pact
this is so cute. imagine baby cedric and baby you rolling around in grassy hills, looking up at the stars sprinkled across the night sky. on one of these nights, cedric asks you if you think you’ll get married. you say you don’t know, and cedric offers to marry you. you hold an impromptu wedding, with cedric grabbing a dandelion and dramatically getting down on one knee in front of you. you dramatically gasp and say yes, and proclaim your love for him. little did the two of you know that many years later, you’d be reliving your childhood memories as you walk down the aisle. (because cedric definitely doesn’t die and you graduate hogwarts together and get married and live happily ever after.)
grumpy x sunshine
cedric is the sunshine. that's it. that's it.
remus lupin
love at first sight
remus had never been interested in dating until you. you were the first person who could capture his attention better than his books could. the marauders are walking through the courtyard one day while you’re sitting on a bench with your favorite book in hand. you look up as they pass and lock eyes with remus. immediately his face lights up a little as he gives you a shy smile, an instant connection and spark forming between you. (is this a trope I desperately wanted to give to cedric because cedric is my absolute favorite? yes. do I regret giving it to remus? no.)
secret admirer / love letters
remus was so shy as a kid, he could never gather up the courage to chase his crush like sirius or james would. so he could only admire you from afar, a dreamy smile on his face as he props his head up on his fist. he wants to find some way to confess to you, but he could never do it in person. suddenly he’s struck with a stroke of genius, and the next day when you come down to breakfast your owl delivers to you an unassuming letter with a dried, pressed flower on it. the letter is written in perfect cursive, the black ink standing out on the yellowed paper. it’s from a secret admirer, and reading the depth of his feelings makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. you want to know who it is so badly, but they leave no hints as the days pass. your owl brings you new letters every day and sometimes little presents. soon you start writing back, begging him to tell you who he is. after a few months of this back and forth, remus finally gathers up the courage to meet you in the owlery. when you realize it’s him, you’re giddy, immediately giving him a hug that makes his eyes widen and his face flush red. needless to say, you’re happy with who your secret admirer is.
sirius black
second chance romance
you and sirius had a thing when you were in school, but it never went anywhere. it could have, as after you graduated you were spending a lot of time together. but everything went wrong when sirius was framed for the potters’ murders. he was suddenly whisked away to azkaban, and you had never felt so confused. you know sirius couldn’t have done something so cruel, but you have no idea who could have actually done it, and you’re not allowed any contact with him now that he’s in prison. when he escaped, you had no idea that the first person he’d come looking for was you. it took time, patience, and respect to rebuild your relationship, but soon you grew close and rekindled that flame that maybe once was there. it wasn’t easy getting together, but throughout all the trials and tribulations, your love for each other remained constant.
bad boy x good girl
sirius is sirius, and you’re more like remus. he loves how studious you are; he hates studying, despite being extremely naturally skilled at magic. when he first approaches you, you turn him down; you know exactly the type of guy sirius is, and it’s two words: bad news. but he keeps persisting, and he knows exactly how to turn on the charm and get you out of your shell. the first time he sneaks you out to the shrieking shack, you’re terrified, but sirius warns you to keep it a secret. you always just thought he was a classic playboy, but sirius proves you wrong. he protects you and takes care of you before anyone else, even himself; he genuinely cares about you, and you are so, so glad you decided to give him a chance.
james potter
enemies to lovers
the classic. it’s not my favorite trope, but come on. it’s so james potter coded. this might also be unconsciously influenced by his canon romance with lily, but young james was such a shitty guy that it’d be hard to like him. you’re not even enemies, per se, but you don’t respect him. that is, until something happens that draws you two together; maybe you’re on the quidditch team together, maybe you’re on opposing quidditch teams and you catch the snitch before him, maybe you’re paired up together for a project. but you start to feel grudging respect toward each other, and before long it turns your rivalry into a friendly competition. and not long after that, your friendly competition turns into flirting and fleeting shared laughs and touches. and the whole world watches as you fall in love. (side note: girlfriend effect is real with james.)
forced proximity
all the “seven minutes in heaven with a harry potter boy” quizzes come to life with this one. you’re at a marauders party when someone suggests a game of seven minutes in heaven. you draw a snitch out of the bag, and next thing you know you and james are shoved in the closet together. it’s uncomfortably small, and you’re pretty much pressed up against each other. nobody knows exactly what went on between the two of you in that closet, but when you walk out together, james’s tie is a little crooked. and the next day, you’re a couple.
tom riddle
star-crossed lovers
poor you and tom. you could’ve been a love for the ages, meeting at hogwarts and quickly becoming attracted to each other. tom’s so charming, handsome and intelligent that he quickly sweeps you off his feet. but there’s something in his eyes that makes you a little uneasy. sometimes tom gets a look of terrifying fury on his face; his eyes go cold and unemotional, and it makes you nervous. you know tom can be possessive, a little overboard with his anger sometimes (a bit of a red flag, if you will). you can only hope nothing happens to him. you love him, you think he loves you too, and you don’t want anything to tear you apart. unfortunately, tom’s anger outweighs his love for you, and you’re forced to watch your lover turn into a cruel, twisted monster.
time travel love
every time I think of this I have to remind myself that harry potter isn’t a k drama, it’s a fantasy. but who says I can’t combine the two? I feel like I’ve read this in a fanfiction, but I really can’t remember where it’s from: in order to save tom riddle from becoming voldemort, you go back in time (whether accidentally or on purpose) and encounter the dark lord when he was still a teenager. and despite you knowing what he becomes, and knowing what you’re supposed to do, you can’t help but start to fall for his wit and charm. if you play your cards right, you might just be able to help tom wake up and walk away from his evil desires. and let’s hope you can play your cards right, because if anything happens to you or you walk away from him, voldemort will unleash hell.

(love) is a heartache
@drarrymicrofic prompt: hope is a heartache - léon
let it be known that harry goes through life purely on vibes. half of his reasons why for every decision at his big age are “idk imma just hope for the best”
ao3
People’s hearts twinge sometimes. For Draco, he can barely remember the last time he doesn’t have these twinges. It’s pretty normal at this point.
“No, it’s not,” Pansy says. She’s a Healer, so she’s probably right. But Draco prefers to ignore that.
“Leave it be,” Draco murmurs, lips against her scalp, “I’m fine. Say, are you free tomorrow?”
“Yeah. You want to go somewhere?”
“Mm. Sleep.”
They go out the next morning, Pansy in thick makeup and Draco practically drunk under nine layers of Charms. The air is a bit humid, which seems to get worse when the bustling street intensifies in volume into a roaring din. Pansy pulls him under an awning, yanking at his sleeve a bit to try out her disgusting sugary coffee. She always does this whenever she wants to take his attention away from something, which means he just has to look at exactly where she’s doesn’t want him to. As his lips wrap around her lipstick-stained straw, he glances up.
Across the street, a couple strolls through a gushing crowd. Fiery red hair, airy laughter, a pale arm wrapped around her fiancé’s waist. Curls of black, sleek spectacles, a protective palm on his fiancee’s shoulder. They make the perfect picture, a vibrant oil painting. Their existence is formed from bold strokes of sunlight and starburst kisses, with the focal point being a shock of phthalo green and cadmium lemon, two minute specks that make all the difference. As all good paintings do, they pin the viewer on the spot, as if the viewer himself is a thing to behold. Then they shift away.
The exhibit moves forward and out of sight. It’s closing time, the viewer has overstayed his welcome.
Something leaps in Draco’s chest and splatters on the floor of his stomach. Placing her hand over his heart, Pansy frowns at him. She doesn’t ask why Potter stared at someone who looked like a stranger to him. Only tells him to start finding answers.
Months later, on the most awaited day in recent Wizarding history, there’s a knock on Draco’s door.
He throws on a sweater, and a throw, too, for good measure. Ambling to the door, he checks the mail slot before peeking through the peephole. Nobody but a package is outside. Draco hums and unlocks his door, crouching down the moment it opens. What feels like soft satin brushes against his cheek, cool and smooth. With a flash, a pair of shiny dress shoes appear before him.
“Draco.”
Draco peers up as he rises, hands around the package. Potter has his maddening Invisibility Cloak slung over his arm, his roguish charm heightened by a perfectly fitted three-piece suit. A tiny posy is pinned on his left lapel, muted green hellebores with a few sprigs of privet berries. He’s dressed like a man in love.
Draco feels something he hasn’t felt in months at the sight. He’s trained himself to suppress it the moment it showed itself and has been relatively successful until now. The sting, without warning, bursts from within his chest, calling forth a slight wince. Potter’s brows furrow.
"How do you know where I live?"
“How long has this been going on?”
Draco frowns. “Pardon?”
“That,” Potter gestures at Draco’s chest. “The heartache.”
He rears back. What the hell is he supposed to say to that? At Potter’s unchanging expression, Draco shoves his hair out of his face with a quiet huff and puts a hand on the doorknob.
“It’s none of your business. Please leave.”
“It is, actually,” Potter stops the closing door with one arm.
“Excuse me? We haven't had a proper conversation in more than a decade and suddenly you want to act like we're friends? Leave, now.”
“Listen to me. How can it not be my business when I feel it, too?”
“Check with a Healer, then. If you can put past grudges aside, I can hand you Pansy Parkinson’s business card,” Draco grits through his teeth, pushing against the door with his entire body, his throw slipping to the ground.
“Draco, stop, I already know, stop.”
“Know what? No, I don't care. Leave at once, else I’d alert the Aurors.”
A rough slam sends Draco staggering back. Potter pants, hard lines on his face. His chest heaves under his crisp white shirt, its top two buttons unclasped, and he steps over the threshold, closing the door.
“You think they’d believe you?”
The pain shoots from his chest to the rest of his body, and for several seconds, his lungs wouldn’t work. He whips his head away from Potter, who groans and sags against the wall.
“I told you to leave.”
“I’m sorry, that was a shitty thing to say,” Potter says immediately, sweat dotting his temples.
After an uncomfortable pause, clearing his throat, he picks up the near-forgotten package from the carpet. His hand feels around the outline of the object within, rectangular and heavy. Glancing at Draco, he says hoarsely. “I know why you bought this book.”
“Know this, know that, you know nothing,” Draco lunges forward, only for Potter to twist out of the way and raise the package out of his reach.
“The Life-long Burden of Dark Curses: A Caution by Elise Arrowlane, limited edition,” he says, unbothered by Draco’s slackened jaw. “You ordered it from the new bookstore on Diagon months ago. You were small and old and grey, but I recognized you. I always could.”
“Okay,” Draco sneers, “so you’re a stalker. Old news. Anything else?”
“There’s no need to order one. I would’ve borrowed it from Hermione if you had only asked,” Potter says. “Instead, I got curious and read it for myself. That’s how I connected the dots about the heartache, how I realized we’ve both had it since that day years ago.”
“Oh, the day you slashed me into ribbons and almost cut through my heart?” Draco clenches his jaw.
Being able to shout this ugly kind of truth into the perpetrator’s face feels oddly liberating. That is, if liberation also comes with a specific kind of agony that makes Draco want to fall to his knees.
“Dark Magic leaves a mark on both the wizard and their victim, doesn’t it? No need for a book to tell us that,” Potter says, the harsh afternoon glow of him gentled by the soft lamplight in Draco’s hallway. “In certain cases, it even leaves a link. A connection.”
Draco bites the inside of his cheek and looks away. The only consequence from that horrid night was his fucked up heart and nothing else, nothing at all. Whatever Potter is insinuating, he hates it. He hates this. He hates him.
“How are you so sure there’s a connection.”
“I wasn’t,” Potter says. “The Healers said it’s a health thing I developed after the War and I just needed to avoid strenuous activity. I didn’t think much of it, but then I read the book and realized that it usually flared up whenever you watched me.”
Scoffing, Draco turns and stalks into the kitchen. Walking past the boiling kettle, he throws a cabinet door open and grabs a mug, his hand trembling.
“Interesting how my health suffers when I see the bastard who quite literally carved me open.”
“I was eating dinner when I thought I was going to die of a heart attack at 23,” Potter continues. Draco pulls the drawers out, unable to find a single bag of tea for several excruciating moments. “The next day, I was reading about your mother’s death on the Daily Prophet. That was the first sign.”
Grabbing a rag and wetting it, Draco wipes the countertop even as he’s just done so last night.
“When Ginny saw you on the street during our date and extended her hand toward you, you shook it. But your heart ached.
“I saw you looking at the picture of Ginny and I kissing on the front page of Witch Weekly. Your hair was brown and your back was curved, but I saw you. Your heart ached.
“When I announced my engagement to her on the Battle of Hogwarts’s 10th Anniversary, you were clapping along with everyone else. But your heart ached.”
Draco throws the rag on the counter. The kettle whistles, a piercing sound. “What’s your point? Are you here purely to flaunt your relationship and imply that I’m in love with Ginevra Weasley? If so, I got it. Thank you so very much, it’s been enlightening. Now get out.”
“The point is,” Potter says, lifting the kettle off the burner to pour it into Draco’s mug, placing his tea bag in, “unless the article about you being gay was wrong, Ginny isn’t the one you’re in love with.”
“What arti—” Draco stops. “That was years ago.”
His sexuality was leaked to some irrelevant gossip rag, not even making the front page. Nobody noticed, nothing changed, and it hasn’t entered his mind in what feels like forever until Potter reminds him.
“I remember.”
“You—” Draco frowns. His eyes strain on the cup of tea until they hurt. He squeezes them shut, sighing. “It doesn’t prove anything. Perhaps I’m jealous of my childhood nemesis having a better life than me, ever thought of that?”
“Yeah,” Potter says, “I’ve thought about this a lot. Which is why I’m here. To make sure.”
Draco takes it in, then, unable to help himself, curls his lips at Potter and his attire. At his artfully gelled hair, his hanging bow tie, the elegant boutonniere on the lapel of his dark blue suit. His empty ring finger.
“Couldn’t you have chosen a better date to make sure? Preferably before your wedding day?”
Potter steps closer. A respectable distance away, but closer.
“I could’ve, but I spent most of those days in denial. Then the dots connected and I couldn’t deny it anymore, so I decided to just go through with the wedding regardless, be with the woman I loved. Hoped that maybe the odd emotions I had would go away,” he shrugs, raising his eyes to meet Draco’s. “Saw Ginny at the end of the aisle and, well, I couldn’t stop thinking that it should’ve been someone else. All this time, I’ve thought that she didn’t feel… right in my arms, but I pushed it down. And there she was in that white dress.
“Seeing that today was the last straw. I had to leave.”
Draco’s breath catches in his throat. Swallowing it down, he grabs his mug, scooping out the tea bag just to have something to do. He takes a sip without blowing, ignoring its scalding heat.
“That was stupid.”
“Yeah.”
“You’re so fucking stupid,” Draco can feel a headache building. “That was a horrible decision. I never imagined you—you!—out of all people, could be this irresponsible. What the fuck.”
“You’re right.”
“Of course I am. Merlin, that poor fucking woman. If your purpose here is to make me feel bad for Ginevra and all 300 of her relatives for once in my life, you’ve succeeded, congratulations.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Don’t say that to me, say that to—oh, you’d do what you want no matter what I say, wouldn’t you?”
“Depends on the situation.”
“‘Depends on the situation,’ he says,” Draco mocks, getting a carton of milk from the fridge to save his bitter, bitter tea. Potter doesn’t reply. Stirring the milk in, Draco lets out a heavy sigh.
“What do you want me to do about this?” He says. “I didn’t make you run out of your own wedding. If you expect me to take the blame for your inane decisions, the first person I Floo wouldn’t be the Aurors, but Ginevra Weasley herself.”
A small smile graces Potter’s lips. “I don’t expect anything from you but honesty.”
Draco squints.
“And how will you know if what I say is a lie? Will you reject my genuine answer if it’s not what you want to hear?”
“That won’t be a problem,” Potter says. “I trust your heart will speak the truth for us both.”
There’s a pang in Draco’s chest, and judging from the twitch of Potter’s brow, he can feel it too. Not another word is said, the two men merely facing each other from across a tiny kitchen, considering. Draco can feel the warmth of sunlight beaming through the little window and coating his nape as he leans against the sink, earl grey on his tongue. Lovely citric notes of bergamot drift up his nose. He closes his eyes. What to do, what to do.
Weightless oxfords clack against the yellowed tiles, clear and bright in Draco’s ears. Fabric rustles as Potter slips a hand into his pocket only to retrieve it a second later. Draco lets himself be cornered, barely glancing at the wool-clad arms caging either side of his waist. A clink catches his attention, however, and he tilts his head to the left.
Millimeters beside Draco’s hand on the counter, glinting in the sun, is a wedding band. Draco knows Potter and Ginevra’s in and out, has examined the picture on that day’s issue of the Daily Prophet more times than he should have. He knows the marquise droplets of Ginevra’s gems and the chevron curve of her ring, the blankness of Potter’s own band a dream and a question in his mind.
The band that’s resting on the counter is different. Rustic gold and a fissure in the middle, the fertile earth splitting open to reveal a stream of diamonds, a sparkling river. Draco sets his mug to the side and holds the ring up close, his finger smoothing over the grooves of its texture.
“Did you make a stop at a jewelry store before breaking into my home?” He asks.
“No,” Harry murmurs. Draco looks at him in surprise. “I’ve had this with me for months.”
A pause.
“I thought you said you were in denial.”
“I was, but I knew, somewhat, that I wanted someone else,” Harry’s head lowers, slow and careful, until his forehead rests against Draco’s shoulder. “I told myself that I just liked the way it looked, had to get it in case I didn’t want the other ring anymore. But I got it a size smaller. Been carrying it in my pocket ever since.”
Draco’s heart throbs and throbs. Large hands circle his waist, bunching up the back of his sweater and pressing him close, chest to chest. A blanket of pure heat envelops his body as he breathes in the timeless saffron and neroli of cologne, half-lidded eyes pinned on the band he’s given. Oh, dear, he thinks, and again when it settles at the base of his ring finger with ease, as if it belongs there and never left. Oh, dear.

What would a cw adaptation of Harry Potter look like?
Having not watched too many cw shows myself (I just hear about their nonsense), I phoned @therealvinelle who made the poor life choices of having watched much more of The Vampire Diaries than I have and watching any Supernatural.
The following is her beautiful response:
So for starters, we merge Snape and Tom's characters. This is because Snape isn't hot, and because Tom needs to be near the kids. Tom still looks like Tom Riddle, and he's a teacher who seduces Hermione. At no point are any thoughts about the fact that he's a teacher sleeping with a student had
Harry is a blond now, and he's also dating Hermione. A love triangle ensues, one where Tom will hover sexily but dangerously in empty classrooms and make vague threats that Hermione find very sexually arousing.
The love triangle is the focal point of this show.
Voldemort is Tom's evil alter ego, who killed Harry's parents over that prophecy. He wants to kill Harry as well, but it's not the season finale yet so he's not actually doing anything about it. Too busy seducing Hermione.
Instead he just does vaguely sinister things, like release a basilisk that Harry heroically saves Hermione from.
He every so often has charged conversations with McGonagall (Who has been aged down and is in her thirties. She's still considered ancient), implying they had an affair once.
Harry and Hermione piece together that Tom and Voldemort aRe ThE sAmE pErSoN.
(Piece together meaning that Dumbledore, who only appeared in the second half of the first season and the show never bothers to clarify what his job actually is, gets a focal episode where he tells them the story of Tom Riddle through flashbacks. Terrible flashback wigs and costumes galore.)
Tom will later, in season 3 where he goes full woobie and we learn that none of his evil deeds were ever his fault, reveal that there's more to the story. That orphanage he grew up in? It was a special school for muggle-borns where they trained a future wizarding militia. Tom was the only one who broke free of their oppressive regime. The other children... GREW UP TO BECOME THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX.
But I'm skipping how season 1 ended. The answer is that Hermione disavowed Tom in the season 1 finale since he was evil, he was too sexy bad boy to care except subtle wigglings of his eyebrow told the captive Tomione-shipping audience that he did in fact care. Harmione shippers think they're all delusional. She then jumped into Harry's arms.
Which was poor decision making on her end, because in season 2 Harry joins the dark side. This lasts for half a season, mostly because the arc featured so much filler. Tom, who was imprisoned in season 1, becomes Hermione's supportive pen pal through this ordeal and she starts to wonder if maybe there's good in him after all.
Sirius Black is introduced, he's a lawyer living in the Muggle world and he was in love with Lily. We get a flashback showing us how sad Sirius was when she married James, and there is buildup for an arc where Harry's paternity will be questioned. This arc is scrapped, and Sirius is written out of the show altogether, never to be mentioned again.
Ginny gets pregnant by Neville. Neville dies tragically shortly afterwards, killed by Harry because Harry is a dark wizard now. This is actually the spinoff door episode to the new show the CW is trying to launch, "The Weasleys".
Neville's death has no real consequences, Harry returns to the light and is forgiven in time to become the child's godfather.
Oh, and can't believe I forgot: they've all been aged up to 17.
End of season 2, Tom escapes prison.
Season 3, we get the whole "DUMBLEDORE is the real villain!" arc. Tom killing Harry's parents in season 1 is forgotten, the show doesn't outright retcon it but it doesn't want the viewers to remember it either.
Hermione is once again in a love triangle, only this time Tom and Harry have both done bad things (but we'll only bring up the 2 bad things Harry did (killed Neville and said a mean thing to Hermione) and none of the 282985204592 bad things Tom did) so Hermione has a hard time.
Hermione also discovers that she's a uniquely powerful witch. She has the power to make windows shatter, candles flicker, and wind blow all about. Everyone is frightfully impressed with this.
Mid-season 3 finale, Dumbledore destroys Tom's body. It's terribly dramatic, but then turns out to only be a mild inconvenience as he is resurrected four episodes later. He's resurrected by Hermione's window shattering powering, she closed her eyes very intensely and bam, he's back.
We learn about the horcruxes, which by themselves are shockingly similar to the horcruxes of the original books. The big change, however, is that this Tom didn't know he had horcruxes, those evil bastards at the orphanage split his soul in the night through ominous rituals (another flashback here). He has no idea where this other half of his soul is.
Season finale, we learn that Hermione is in fact his horcrux. This is why they had so much in common (they don't have anything in common) and why she got through his bad boy persona (he hasn't been a bad boy since season 1!). They were soulmates this whole time!
Harry despairs in the face of this, and he and Hermione have a teary conversation where she confirms that yes, the Tomione shippers won.
He also has a pleasant conversation with Tom, as a bromance has bloomed between the two.
Alas. The episode ends on a cliffhanger, as the door flings open dramatically. Dumbledore walks in, bearing proof that Tom made an Unbreakable Vow to always serve the Order, a Vow that was obliviated from him. He drags Tom kicking and screaming away from a crying Hermione, the season ends with her resolve to find a way to save him.
(Sorry, I'm on a roll here)
Season 4, a year later. Harry and Hermione have been searching ever since Tom disappeared. They've become closer than ever, but apart from three or four moments of extreme sexual tension per episode, Hermione is Faithful™
News of Tom's terrorist actions as an Order member reach them with regular intervals. Hermione remains convinced that he's being forced to do all this and doesn't actually want to hurt anybody, Harry's not so sure.
They catch up to him in Minneapolis (did I mention this entire show takes place in the states? All the actors are American.) and he tells them to stop trying to save him. Hermione, devastated, takes this to mean he never loved her, he was only ever a psychopath playing with her feelings. She tells him as much, and Tom confirms, yeah, he's a cold-hearted son of a bitch (Harry's favorite insult for him).
They break up, and Hermione gets back with Harry. They return to their home city in North Dakota.
At the very end of that same episode, Tom is able to visit Harry for 15 seconds in the form of a specter and very dramatically tell him how he does love Hermione but he's not good for her, better to make a clean break, yada yada. DON'T LOOK FOR ME.
Harry agrees, sure no problem, he can do that. Just one noble bro to another.
Tom nods, thanks for having sex with my girl while I rot in hell, bro.
It is in this same season premier episode that the show introduces the Blacks. Remember Sirius Black? Yeah, this is sexy family.
They become instant fan favorites, and one of them is shipped with Tom (the fans now hate both Harry and Hermione).
Pandering as always, the show lets said character run into Tom. And it's not Bellatrix, oh no. It's Athena, a CW original Black. She's indistinguishable from the original Bellatrix and it's unclear why she's not just Bellatrix.
Tom is ordered to kill her, but they have a moment of truly intense eye contact so he only injures her (the killing curse doesn't exist in this show. Don't ask how Harry got his scar. No really, don't ask, the show never explained it). Shippers go wild.
Tom is eventually able to break free of the Unbreakable Vow through the power of true love (book fans are sobbing, this show gets nothing right), and he returns to Hermione, begs her to take him back. She rebuffs him, and he goes to get drunk at a bar. This is where Narcissa (aged down to 25) finds him. They have sex.
He has a brief fling with her, only to get into a more serious relationship with Athena. This leads to Hermione getting jealous.
We're now dealing with a love pentagon, of sorts. Harry and Tom love Hermione, Tom also loves Athena, Narcissa wants Harry but she has undeniable sexual chemistry with Tom.
The show descends into back-and-forth-ing, and does not get renewed.
The end.
POST SCRIPT:
The oddly popular side character that the CW never wanted to be popular at all and keeps having to make mysteriously vanish for half a season so that the plot(?) can avoid being derailed is Draco.
He's super competent but the show will never admit that.
Later, Athena plays this same role.

Pumpkin Juice ~ JJK [Request]
WORD COUNT: 5K
PAIRING: slytherin!Jungkook x Hufflepuff!Reader
GENRE: HogwartsAU, Harry Potter Universe, friends to strangers, strangers to enemies, enemies to lovers who have secret crushes on one another, touch her and I’ll kill you vibes, there is no wizard war in this so shhh, everyone is happy...Fred is Fred .
A/N: I used the “Wheel Of Names” to generate who would be used for this imagine and I got Jungkook, I thought since I didn’t give anyone a chance to request him I would do this as a one off for now :)
Ever since you could remember it had always been you and Jungkook together, since you were kids you were always hanging out together and having fun. You'd met when you were younger, both your wizarding families had been friends for hundreds of years so it was fate that you and Jungkook would get along with one another. The two of you could never be separated, spending time with one another so much that people considered you siblings or some would even assume that you were dating. Your parents hoped you would date Jungkook since he was one of the best wizards in the country along with you by his side, the two of you were exceptionally smart and everyone had high expectations of you but once you began attending Hogwarts however, all of it changed. Instead of being your rock as he had been for all those years, Jungkook became a total stranger to you, being placed in Slytherin changed his personality for the worst. He began hanging around with all of the wrong people, Draco and Pansy influencing him to become one of the worst people you'd ever had the displeasure of knowing.
Even in your final year, he was still pretending as though he'd never even known you, escaping to talk to you whenever he could though and in the summer he would attend parties at your home as if nothing had changed. As if he hadn't spent the entire school term torturing you and your friends with mean nickname and chants that they had been coming up with. The worst one being a song they had curated around Cedric's death in The Triwizard Tournament when he knew that you and Cedric had been dating for some time.
"Look who it is, the book worm." You heard a familiar coo as you sat in the library one day during a free period, this voice didn't fill you with dread as many others did within the school grounds.
"Fred," You greeted coldly, pretending to be mean to him as you tried to focus your mind on the potions book in front of you trying to get everything to set in your mind, Snape was always on at you for being behind in his class but it wasn't your fault. Potions weren't something you wanted to take but it was forced upon you by your family, almost every member was a master at potions except for you. Quidditch was where your skills laid and you could have been a professional if you could keep your grades up but you kept getting "D"'s in your potions class,
"Another Dreadful?" George chimed in as he sat down beside you on one of the wooden chairs, glancing over at the latest potions report card you had gotten back, you slid it under your book not wanting anyone else that was inside of the library to see or overhear what was being spoken about.
"Snape hates me, that's all there is to it." You grumbled as your eyes continued to scan over the same sentence again and again but it was as if your head wasn't taking anything in that you were reading.
"You just need a good tutor, someone who is exceptionally brilliant at potions," George said as he began straightening out his robes, brushing them off as he was clearly speaking about himself,
"Someone who is also exceptionally good looking, charming and funny." He added as he put his elbow onto the desk, staring at you as he waited for you to take the hint. You smiled at him pretending as though you were taken in by everything he was saying,
"You're so right Georgey...But where would I find someone like that, Hogwarts is filled with Idiots." You winked at him pushing his elbow out from underneath him and laughing in sync with Fred as George hit his head onto the wooden desk below him.
"You're so mean to me," George began pouting out his bottom lip you were about to give him a sarcastic comment back when a shiver ran up and down your spine and the nearby candles blew out.
"Well, well, well, it's the Weasleys and their little Weasley Whore." You shuddered at the sound of Pansy's voice, it was like nails on a chalkboard to you as she made her way over to the desk. Glancing you up and down as she spotted the report card sticking out from under your book.
"How was your Potions exam?" She asked as she pulled out a chair across from you, you knew she didn't care about your exam so you began to slowly pack your things up in silence, wanting nothing more than to get away from her and study in peace.
"Not so fast!" She called out, slamming her hand down onto the book in front of you and dragging it towards her with a giant smirk across her lips.
Sliding out the report card the smirk only began to grow as she saw the large blood-red D written on the top of your card,
"I would have given you a T so it would match you," She tilted her head to the side faking sympathy as she said something mean to you,
"T for troll...Get it? I thought I would explain seeing as you're so stupid," Fred went to step forward to say something but you clutched his wrist, it wasn't worth the fight or the detention you would no doubt get from Snape if he heard you were standing up to one of his favourite students.
"Oh, this is a recent development," She snickered, staring down at your hand that was wrapped around Fred's pale wrist, the boy began to shake with anger but you tightened your grip.
"I'm sure Jungkook would love to hear about this, maybe we could add a verse to the Weasley Is Our King song with Y/n in it as well!" She jumped up from the chair with excitement and began giggling as she walked out of the hall, humming the tune to the song she had referenced.
"Not worth it, if Snape hears someone stood up to her there'll be hell to pay," You reminded Fred who was beginning to rant on about how Pansy had the face of a dog and the breath of one trying to get you to laugh.
"It's nothing, I need to go and study some more in the common room, maybe I can convince one of the house-elves to sneak me some food," You nudged George as you got up from the table walking out of the library and down to the moving staircases.
While on your way to the Hufflepuff common rooms you passed Jungkook who was standing outside the kitchen as if he was waiting for you to come by which would have completely outlandish to everyone else but to you it was normal. His leg was kicked up against the wall, nose down in a book as his eyes scanned over the text that was inside,
"Struggling with something?" You questioned making him jump a little as he looked up from the Astronomy textbook, his leg dropped to the floor as he nodded at you.
"I'll meet you at the Astronomy tower tonight but keep Pansy away from me, that was my deal with helping you with your studies," You reminded him of the deal you had made that summer between the two of you.
Trapped inside your bedroom you waited for Jungkook to say something first, all-year-long he'd been torturing you relentlessly with Pansy and Draco. The name-calling and the persistent annoying pranks he would do were starting to get to you but in the summer he was the old Jungkook you knew and loved pretending as though nothing had happened. It was the same every year and you hated it. You couldn't see any reason why he acted the way he did in school,
"It would be nice if we could still be friends at school instead of pretending that you hate my guts," You mumbled as you watched him, he was sitting on the floor in front of your dresser, knees pulled into his chest as he listened to the party that was going on downstairs for your mother. The two of you were supposed to be doing the summer reading but your head was starting to pound with all of the new information and Jungkook was struggling with his Astronomy textbook.
"I can't...If I did that-"
"They would all hate you and you would feel like an outsider in your own wizarding house," You repeated what he had to you over a thousand times back to him in a mocking tone and he sighed looking at you, he never meant to hurt you when you were in school. It was all just supposed to be a joke but this time it had gone too far, joking about Cedric was one of the worst things he could have possibly done. Jungkook had known how much you and Cedric liked one another which was one of the reasons he was rooting for Cedric to lose in the tournament he'd never been good at placing his feelings but he knew jealously when he felt it.
"I am sorry about Cedric, he was a good guy." He mumbled not believing what he was saying but he knew he had to be there for you, deep down he had no idea why he was so jealous of you and Cedric all he knew was that he was and it made him feel like he had to be mean to you about the boy you liked.
The room fell into silence as you both listened to the faded music playing downstairs, you never knew what to say when someone bought up the reminder that your ex-boyfriend was dead.
"Will you help me study this year?" He asked out of the blue, making you glance up at him and nod without thinking about it first. The two of you would normally study together in the summer, what difference would it make in the School year.
"I'll make you a deal, we help each other study and I'll keep Pansy and Draco out of your way." He offered, reaching out his hand for you to shake if you accepted the deal he was making.
"Sounds like a good idea to me," You shook on it before sliding off the bed and sitting beside him, where Jungkook struggled in Astronomy you were great and where you struggled in Potions Jungkook was great it was the perfect combination.
"I do keep her away from you but I can't watch her all of the time," He laughed softly as he looked at you but you weren't laughing, you were too angry from the fact that she had been mocking you again when Jungkook had promised to make all of it stop and for the most part it had. He wouldn't torture you as much as he had done for the last few years and he had done his best to keep Pansy out of your face,
"Keep her on a short leash or Dogface will get a punch," You poked his chest as you began walking towards the entrance to your common room, it was no secret to where it was hidden since everyone and their great aunt seemed to know where it was located. Not to mention most Hufflepuffs allowed all of their friends to come and go whenever they wanted,
"I've never been inside the common room," Jungkook hinted as you reached the barrels,
"And you never will," You smirked evilly at him waiting for him to leave but he continued to stand there waiting for you to go inside so he could follow you in but you weren't going to move.
"Jungkook, what are you doing down here?" Taehyung's voice rang out from the top of the hall, he had a tray of what looked like baked goods in his arms as a house-elf pushed him and Jimin out of the kitchen.
"Torturing the house-elves again?" You questioned the two of them, folding your arms over your chest as a blush crept onto the two Hufflepuff's cheeks as they made their way over to you,
"We needed sustenance for our all-night-long study session," Jimin whined as you hummed at him, taking a cake from the top of the tray Taehyung was holding and began eating it waiting for Jungkook to leave once again.
"I'll see you in Divination class," Jungkook whispered as he walked back down the hall backwards, his eyes never leaving yours despite being stared down by Taehyung and Jimin who turned to you as soon as the dark-haired boy was out of their sight.
"Flirting with a Slytherin, how scandalous," Jimin wiggled his eyebrows but you pushed him to the side, knocking on the barrel in the correct order before heading into the common room.
Instantly greeted by the warmth of the fireplace that was burning and the small chatter from everyone in the room, sitting beside Scarlet - one of the girls in your year - was Jin from Ravenclaw as they studied together...Well, it looked like they were staring down into the root of a plant but since they both loved Herbology so much you assumed they were studying.
"That's what it looked like to me," Jimin mumbled as he followed you over to one of the giant armchairs where you sat yourself down and took out your book to prove you were ignoring him.
"You need classes then, there is and never will be something going on between me and Jungkook." You snapped as you looked up at him with piercing eyes as if you were daring him to say something else but he stopped speaking and you went back to reading.
Divination class was normally one of the most laid back subjects you had taken in the school, it was all mostly a bunch of guessing work as well as skillfully avoiding getting asked to demonstrate by keeping your head in the book and avoiding Professor Trelawney's gaze as much as possible but today you could sense something was going to happen.
As soon as you first walked in and saw Pansy on your table you knew there had to be something going on that involved pairs and bonding with other students for different Houses.
"Pansy dear, you go first." You held back a snort at the idea of someone calling Pansy dear, Professor Trelawney was attempting to get everyone to read one another's future. A crystal ball was the only thing standing between the two of you on the table and it was taking everything inside of you not to pick it up and launch it at her face, maybe it would have made an improvement if you had.
"I see that Y/n is..." Pansy began staring into the ball intensely as she squinted a little everyone began to watch her as she dragged on the anticipation of everything,
"Y/n is going to get a "T" in the next potions exam," You scoffed out as everyone else in the room began to erupt in laughter, everyone that was except for you and Jungkook who was staring at you with "I'm sorry" eyes.
"Do you know what I see?" You asked sarcastically as you looked at the ball in front of you and then back up to Pansy who had one eyebrow raised at you,
"That the stupid dogface will fall off her broom in the next quidditch match this weekend," Pansy stood up ready to fight when Professor Trelawney clapped her hands together loudly and asked for the next pair to try and do it properly this time. Meanwhile you and Pansy exchanged looks as she threatened you with her eyes, you knew she was plotting something inside of her mind and you couldn't wait to see what it was. Not.
Later that night when everyone was asleep you'd managed to sneak out of your common room and make your way up to the Astronomy Tower, you would have apparated yourself there but you still didn't have your license thanks to George and Fred distracting you one time and getting you caught between a wall.
"Took you long enough," You hissed playfully to Jungkook as he made his way into the tower and sat beside you, you had a blanket laid out on the floor beside the telescope that was already pointing where it needed to be for him to study Jupiter's moons.
"I set everything up so you don't have to worry about it," You brushed off your legs as you raised up to greet him, he smiled at you. Even in the low light, the smile he was giving you sent your stomach into a whirlwind of butterflies, ever since Jimin had mentioned you flirting with him you'd began to see Jungkook in a different way and the romantic setting of the moon wasn't helping you fight back those feelings.
"You didn't have to, I just need help remembering which is which." He sighed as he walked over to the telescope with you, peaking through it to see that you'd already put it into the perfect position for him to see each moon.
"Which is why I did this, you can focus on remembering...Now, start with the red one."
The studying had gone brilliantly Jungkook was well under his way to remembering the moons and some of the named stars that surrounded it.
"Thank you again...and I'm sorry about Pansy earlier, she's just being a bitch because Draco has started to ignore her," You laughed at the thought of Draco ignoring Pansy, everyone knew how much of a crush she'd had on him for years.
"It's fine, I'm used to her, but you're all going down in that match at the weekend," You teased as you placed a grape into your mouth, laying down on the blanket as you looked out at the night sky, Jungkook laying beside you so close to you that you could feel his chest rising and falling with every breath that he took.
"You're on," He chuckled, turning to look at you as he watched you. He adored the way your eyes would light up whenever you looked up into the sky, the way your eyes seemed to shine no matter what light they were in, it made his head spin and his stomach do flips whenever he caught you.
"Thanks again...For helping me study," He whispered as he watched you waiting for you to look at him,
"Well it's no problem-" You stopped when you realised how close you were to one another, your faces inches away as you stared into his eyes. Both of you so lost at how close you were that you hadn't heard the door to the tower open and Pansy making her way up the staircase,
"I-I want to do something," He whispered to you as he moved a little closer, you stayed perfectly still as if you moved it might scare him away and you licked your lips.
"Go for it," He leant closer to you, his breath touching your lips and making you shiver from how cold it was on your now wet lips. The two of you stayed like that, lips hovering above one another until you finally smashed your lips together, having enough of playing the waiting game. He smiled against your lisp, pressing his body against yours as he wrapped his arms around your body your heartbeat danced as he held you close to him. This was your first real kiss with someone and it had been someone you'd loved all these years without knowing it until right now until his lips were brushing against yours and your heart was trying to leap out of your chest.
Pansy froze as she saw the two of you making out on the floor, she knew Jungkook had been meaning to study and was going to "accidentally" bump into him tonight so she could help him only to find this. While everyone thought she had a crush on Draco it was the opposite, she'd been crushing on Jungkook since the beginning of time but what wasn't there to love about him. Once she saw you weren't going to pull away she stormed off in an attempt to find Snape and lead him to the tower.
The weekend quidditch match had come faster than you expected it to, the week seemed to pass in a blur and Pansy, for the most part, had left you alone. You figured she was training for the match and focussing on that instead of focussing her attention on you so much which had been nice since you were trying hard not to focus on the kiss that had happened with Jungkook. It wasn't that you didn't want to think about it you did but he was insisting on telling everyone you were dating which meant everyone would know you were together. The pro to that would be that the teasing would finally stop and you could be with the man you loved but the con would be that everyone would know, the teasing could increase and you knew your parents would instantly start planning a wedding. Not to mention the two of you were up against one another in a quidditch match and you were both highly competitive against each other.
"Here," George said as he handed you a small weaved basket filled with cupcakes inside,
"What is it?" You laughed thinking it was one of their inventions but George shrugged his shoulders before pointing out the gift tag that was on the side of it, your name was written in cursive writing.
Dear Y/N,
Good luck today, if I kick your ass please don't be too mad, I'll take you out on a date for it...Astronomy tower? ~ JJK
A warm feeling spread through your body as you saw the note from him, quickly throwing it away before any of your teammates could sneak a look.
"Cupcakes for us?" Fred called out loudly gaining the attention of the whole Hufflepuff tent who swarmed around you for the cupcakes, leaving one for you to take as you shook your head.
"In the lead, we have Hufflepuff by 3 points, all we need is for someone to catch the golden snitch," Lee Jordan yelled out as you flew under Jungkook winking at him before doing a turn on your broom and heading over to Fred and George who high fived you.
"Rub it in their faces," George laughed as he watched you steadying yourself, the match had been going on for almost an hour now and you were starting to get a little light-headed but you weren't going to let up, your team needed this win.
"Y/n?" Someone called out but their voice was faint as you felt swear pooling around the top of your head as you tried to focus on what was happening. The match was going on around you but it felt as though you were even there, you felt sick, faint and as if the whole world was upside down on you.
"She's going to fall!" Someone screamed out from the crowds right as your grip loosened on the handle of your broom, suddenly there was a rush of air coming at you as you fell towards the quidditch ground, the cold air cooling you down as you fell freely.
"Catch her!" You knew that was Jungkook which only made you smile as you fell, it was nice that he was showing his caring side for you despite wanting to hide it all those times before whenever you would get hurt in a match. You could still remember the first injury you had,
"You should have been watching where you were flying," Cedric barked at you as he sat beside you in the hospital wing, you were getting your arm stitched up since you'd accidentally flown into one of the stands in the match, cutting your arms and legs open but nothing too bad.
"You okay?!" Jungkook's panicked voice called out as he burst into the hospital wing thinking that you were alone, as soon as he saw Cedric bis blood boiled. If he'd been training you properly you never would have flown into the stands so this was his fault,
"Showing a caring side for a puff?" Cedric laughed sarcastically as he watched Jungkook storm over to you, if there was anyone else in the wing he wouldn't have bothered coming near you but Cedric was Cedric.
"You could have hurt yourself a lot worse than this," He mumbled as he looked at your arm and then into your eyes as his eyes filled with tears at the thought of you being injured even a little.
"Jungkook? Came to torture pipsqueak?" Draco taunted as he opened the door, your arm was dropped and you looked away from Jungkook who instantly began to pretend he didn't care that you were hurt when it was obvious that he did.
"You should have heard the scream she made," Draco laughed loudly as he began to imitate you in front of everyone.
Waking up to a bunch of hushed voices you groaned, your head felt as though you'd been hit over it by a cauldron around fifty times and you were praying Madame Pomfrey wasn't going to give you any more of the disgusting-tasting medicine she had been. You'd been in and out of sleep most of the night and you couldn't remember anything that had happened, it was all a blur from the tent to the pitch.
"She'll be a little groggy but she's okay," Pomfrey announced to whoever was standing beside the bed, your eyes blinked open as you adjusted to the light coming through the windows. Taehyung and Jimin were standing by the bed holding a basket of cakes and fruit and on the other side was a worried looking Jungkook who was still in his quidditch gear despite the match ending yesterday.
"He hasn't left since he brought you in," Jimin smirked as he placed the basket down on the nightstand beside your bed,
"I told you, you liked him." You would have picked up one of the cakes to throw at him as he left with Taehyung if you didn't feel so weak but you rolled over to face Jungkook.
"That stench is you then." You laughed weakly as you sat up in the bed, leaning against the metal frame as you tried to remember what had happened in the match. You hadn't hit your head and there were no curses that you knew of that would do this to you.
"I'll get you some water," Jungkook whispered as he got up and placed a small kiss on your forehead, he headed behind one of the curtains and began pouring a drink in silence when the doors flew open.
"Well if it isn't Little Miss Y/n," Pansy squawked as she sat down beside you on the bed, almost crushing your leg which was still healing from the fall.
"Did you enjoy your cupcakes?" She smirked and that was when it hit you, the cupcakes that had been from Jungkook, It had been the only thing that could have done something so harsh to you but why hadn't it done anything to anyone else who had eaten them? It didn't make sense,
"Don't go looking too confused, if you paid attention in potions you would know why it only worked on you," She quipped, placing a cupcake from Jimin's basket into her pocket. Jungkook's grip on the jug of water tightened from behind the curtain, Pansy had no idea that he was even there and it made his blood boil.
"Stay away from Jungkook and it'll never happen again," She told you as she got back up ready to leave when she was suddenly thrown against the wall by a blast of blue coming from Jungkook's wand.
"Kookie!" You gasped out as he walked over to her, pinning her to the wall by her robes as he stared deep into her eyes,
"Don't come near her, don't even breathe in her direction! If I even find out that you so much as glanced at her I will kill you." He pushed her a little before stepping away,
"She's an ugly, good for nothing loser and I will kill her-" You flinched at the thought of her trying to kill you and it didn't go unnoticed by Jungkook. Before Pansy could continue on her mouth was suddenly zipped shut and you froze looking at Jungkook who shook his head,
"You insulted her, threatened her and made her flinch...I won't forget that and neither will my parents." He whispered as she shuddered, walking away from him. He knew how much his parents meant to her since they were some of the most well-known wizards in the community and she so desperately sought their approval.
"You're intimidating when you want to be," You laughed softly as he walked back over to you, running his hand over your cheek and smiling to himself.
"I have to protect those I care about," He whispered before leaning down and kissing you once again. Your heart skipping a beat as soon as your lips connected but just as soon as it started it was over, he pulled back and made a disgusted face,
"Pumpkin juice," You laughed as you realised he could probably taste the medicine you had been having since the night before.

Sometimes for the better, oftentimes for the worst. For Draco Malfoy, the scales were tipped when a certain lawyer forced themselves onto his case with the start of one letter. A letter that turned into the type of correspondence where you end up baring your soul to a stranger. A stranger that ends up knowing every little part of you, from the darkest corners, to the sunniest fields - while barely knowing you at all. But then again, Hermione Granger was never really a stranger to begin with.
Silly Love Songs February 2021:
This Beauty By My Side by Amarillis39 - M, one-shot - My entry to the Silly Love Songs Fest. ____ "But as he watched her glide through the crowd, he decided he would take every second she would give him. Worthy or not, he was still a selfish git." ___ It's another stuffy gala at the Ministry and Draco is overcome with conflicting feelings as he watches Hermione in her element.
The Light That You Shine by SlytherinHermione - M, one-shot - Draco was adrift. All around him was an endless, unforgiving ocean, dull and grey in colour. The waves kept crashing in on him. Back and forth, back and forth. Sometimes he felt like he’d been cursed to remain like a graying tower, alone on the sea. This all changed on a random cold winter day and a bright light. Because what followed the light was as unexplainable as the feeling of calm that suddenly enveloped him. He felt a twinge of something that he couldn’t explain. On the other side of the sidewalk stood Hermione Granger, more beautiful than he could remember, locking eyes with him for a second, as if she herself was caught with him inside of this time bubble filled with light and large, fluffy snowflakes. And would Blaise go along with the scheme the two Slytherins would come up with to push the new couple to expose itself or will he be done with all the ‘pretending’ of not knowing, when he knew all along?Stay with me on this journey called: ‘The One Where Everyone Finds Out - Dramione Edition’.
The Dragon's Moving Castle by SlytherinHermione - T, WIP - Hermione Granger had accepted that her life wasn't going to be a great big adventure. She wasn't particularly beautiful, or interesting, and she hadn't been born with magic like her sisters. Really, she was just as plain as could be.One day though, a castle was seen rolling around the hills near her town. Not long after, she met a strange, handsome, and mysterious man.And she was cursed by the Wicked Witch of the Wasteland.Perhaps life was an adventure after all.
Lanky Brunettes with Wicked Jaws by Lostinthenightrain - M, one-shot - “You’ve got types?”“Only you darling.” He put his hand under her chin and brought her around to face him. He pulled her close with his arm held tight against her. His head to the side of her own, he grinned. “Lanky brunettes with wicked jaws.” A gentle kiss placed against her jaw. She smiled, a blush prettying her cheeks as she pulled back.
Reader, I Married Him by Lostinthenightrain - T, one-shot - “Why must you?” he questioned as he pulled himself forward, using the rough pads of his fingers he gently touched under her chin, dragging her gaze to his own. “You know why!” She wrenched her chin from his grasp. “You are to be married, Malfoy.”

At Arm's Length
Pansy picked at the leather bow on her wrap bracelet. The skinny black ropes of leather matched the blade-thin tattoo line that ran from the inside of her wrist to her underarm. A limb with a decorative seam, fit for breakable porcelain dolls and breakable porcelain people.
Only one person understood the words at her wrist, "Too Close." His bore the retort.
Just off the curve of the round table, couples twirled on the dance floor; a black and white-clad crew spinning over the polished wooden deck of the finest ballroom in London. A pair in matching white tuxedos sashayed past, and she offered up a plastic smile.
The empty velvet-tufted chair next to her ached. "Plus One" had sounded like an easy task. Draco had told her the wedding date before anyone else. She'd had plenty of time to find a date.
But no one was... enough. Not for this; the wedding of the love of her life to the love of his life.
Potter leaned over at one of the Weasley tables, and Draco slipped his hand under Potter's jacket, resting on his lower back. Pansy leaned back in her chair and looked anywhere else.
It hadn't been real, what they had. But Draco would always be family. Never legally, like Potter and Ginny had been, but still family.
A bobbing head of auburn hair side-stepped its way across the crowded floor. Elbows thunked down in front of Pansy, and she let her eyes wander up freckled arms, over sun-kissed cleavage, to Ginny Weasley's face. Blue eyes blinked at her from behind wispy bangs.
"Hi," Ginny said, abruptly.
"Hello," Pansy replied, swirling a glass of red wine.
Ginny's eyes darted to the empty seat next to Pansy, then the empty table around her. "May I?"
"Help yourself." Pansy nodded to the unclaimed chair next to her. "Want a glass?"
The tips of Ginny's hair skimmed over her exposed shoulders as she shook her head.
"Nah. Half-pissed already, honestly."
On the other side of the room, a little girl on an old woman's lap waved. Ginny waved back with a smile that faltered too quickly. She poured the rest of the wine into a glass and gave it a tentative sip.
Pansy smirked and motioned to a waiter for another bottle. This was the third wedding at which she'd seen a drunk Ginny Weasley. The first two had been Ginny's own. First to Potter, then to Blaise. The second one, though new, seemed to be sticking.
Pansy drained her glass and studied the sediment. "Are James and Albus spending the night at the Burrow?"
Ginny nodded. "And Lily. Tonight."
Pansy's brows lifted, and she took a bottle from the waiter with a curt nod. "Her first night away from home?"
"Yeah," Ginny whispered. Her cheeks were flushed. "Pans, it's weird, right?"
"I think she's a good age to-"
"No, I mean us. I mean this wedding. This wedding and us being here."
Pansy blinked and turned away. Potter ruffled Draco's hair and darted in for a quick kiss.
"Yeah..." Pansy whispered. Draco would have Stupefied her for mussing his hair like that.
"Like," Ginny said, and faltered, "I know you and Draco didn't get married or have kids, but you were together as long as me and Harry, and I just... You get it, right?"
"Yeah..." Pansy repeated.
"I'm just, like, I know you probably did some drastic shit to keep him, too, right? It's not just me?"
Pansy filled her own glass, but didn't top off Ginny's.
"Like what?" Pansy asked, more interested in investigating than divulging.
"Like..." Ginny finished her glass and slammed it down. "Like, you remember my hair when I made first string for the Harpies?"
Pansy winced. "The platinum blond bob cut." It had been truly unflattering.
"Uh huh," Ginny grunted, and reached for the bottle. "I came home with the cut. Bleaching it was Harry's idea."
"Ohhh-hhh-hh," Pansy chuckled. "Oh, no!"
"Mmm hm." Ginny licked a drop of wine off the side of her glass. "At least it grew out. You two got matching tattoos, right?"
Pansy ran a thumb over her wrist. "Not quite. Different words."
"Oh, yeah? What's his say, then?"
Pansy bit her lip and waited for it to slide out, sneaking a glance at Ginny watching.
"His says 'Too far'." Pansy's gaze flitted to her ex and his husband, while they danced with Ginny's kids. "It was... a thing."
Ginny folded her arms on the table and rested her cheek on them. Her words came out muffled. "Wha kinda thing?"
Draco's left hand grabbed Harry's lapel and pulled him in for a kiss, and Pansy's heart warmed at his happiness, then cracked at what it had taken for him to get there.
"He told me to get away from my family. That they were bad for me. And he was right, they were. But I told him it was enough to keep them at arm's length. And he told me 'Arm's length is too close', and he was right about that, too."
Ginny rolled her chin over her freckled forearm and watched her ex-husband and his new husband make their way to an enormous white cake.
"So what's his say?"
Pansy crossed her knife and fork over her plate and hoped the waiter didn't bring her a piece of cake.
"His says 'Too Far'." A perfectly-modulated contralto voice came from behind the cake table, and Pansy turned to see Narcissa nodding to the wedding planner. "He said the same thing about his mother, but I told him arm's length was too far away."
Ginny dragged herself upright and curled her fingers around her glass. Her wedding ring tapped against the ridges around the base of the glass. Teeth bit against the soft, pink skin of her lower lip, and her eyes flicked to Blaise at a table across the floor.
"Uhm," she started. "Pans, would you, uhm..."
Pansy studied her for a few heartbeats, and followed her gaze to Blaise, who winked back, per usual. The lech.
Ginny blew out a long breath and inhaled slowly. "Blaise and I have talked about it. And all three kids are going to the Burrow, and like we've talked about it for a long time, and like..."
Pansy's head snapped to meet Blaise's eyes with a suspicious glare, but her expression faltered when he responded with open wonderment. Like a kid on Christmas morning.
"Would you, uhm, " Ginny continued, "would you want to come home with us tonight?"
Ginny cringed, eyes closed, but her mouth kept moving. "Like-actually-mostly-just-me-but-he's-cool."
Blaise shot Pansy a thumbs-up, and she returned fire with two fingers and a mock scowl. The absolute pig.
Ginny's face was still turned away, as if awaiting a blow. Freckles clustered over her collarbone, faded off, and reappeared just above her jaw.
Behind Pansy, Draco barked a laugh and licked frosting off Potter's fingers. Pansy wondered if melanin had a flavor.
"Yeah..." Pansy said slowly, as Ginny peeked from one hopeful eye. She had a dark freckle on her lower lashline. "Yeah... and you know what?"
"Yeah?" Ginny opened like a blooming rose, grin spreading as she turned. A budding flush rose from her cheeks and upper chest. "What?"
"They won't notice if we finish here early, will they?"
Ginny snorted. "Never did, did they?"

Warnings: Swears, arguing, sass

~DO NOT REPOST ANYWHERE~
-
“Drop it!” You slammed your book shut with aggravation, your hands running through your hair as you stared down at the cover. Your friends didn’t even flinch- well, Ron did a little but would never admit it. “There isn’t anything between me and Harry.”
“Harry and I-”
“Do not. Seriously, Hermione. He’s like my brother and this isn’t Alabama.”
“What?”
“Never mind, Ron.” You sighed. Your hands ran through your hair before gripping the locks and tugging. It was far less painful than hearing your best friend talk about how you could be exchanging saliva with your other best friend.
On that note, why in the flying, flip flapping fuck was Hermione so damn determined to get you and her bestie together? Don’t get me wrong, you love Harry, sure, but like a brother, and that’s where it ends. Everyone around you assumed since the two of you were so buddy buddy that you were basically made for each other, but no one knew a specific snake had slithered his way into your heart and was determined to keep it that way.
See, you’d gotten along with Harry and Co. because you were put in Gryffindor and, naturally, that begs the question of how you started dating said snake. Well, one day you decided you had enough of Harry and Ron fighting over the dumb Tri-Wizard Tournament and literally dragged the specks wearing boy by his ear across the dining hall and forced the two friends to apologize.
Instead of focusing on the scene and laughing at the Gryffindor’s embarrassment, Draco was busy falling head over heels for you. The blonde realized just how attractive Harry’s stupid friend was and nothing could stop him from wanting to see you react like that again. Something about you hit him differently than any wizard or witch he’d ever met.
Since then, he made it his daily mission to tease you at least once a day. Whether it was sitting next to you at the library to ask if he could borrow your legs as earmuffs or calling to you across the dining hall asking if you used the stupefy charm or if you were a natural stunner, he did it all. He’d snicker when you’d solute the middle finger in his direction, but he noticed the blush across your cheeks and kept up the game, determined to have you swooning for him.
Eventually, the blonde realized he’d have to make the move first, leading to him approaching you after potions when the class was empty and, much to Snape’s dismay, asked you to a Hogsmead date. What surprised Draco the most was when you actually said yes without making fun of him. Since then, you have been dating the Slytherin. You two would sneak out after curfew, go swimming in the Black Lake together and spend particularly hard nights in his dorm room all while using the hidden passageways the Weasley Twins trusted you with. They were probably the only Gryffindors that knew you were kissing the lips of their little brother's best friend's rival and they kept it to themselves.
When you started dating the blonde, you both made a pact. You would keep the relationship a secret from the residents of Gryffindor tower and he’d cut the ‘mudblood’ bull crap and at least try to be nice to Harry and his friends. He doesn’t have to be their best friend but just, don’t be rude. He kept up his side of the promise easily, as did you. Except you were so close to yelling it from a fucking mountain top- or the astromony tower.
Hermione had this idea stuck in her head and Ron agreed too. See, the idea was that you and Harry would make the best couple for many reasons and she was, once again, trying to get you two to at least try. She would go on and on about how there was a spark, whatever that meant.
“Oh come on, (Y/n)! One date! What harm could it possibly have?” Hermione was basically begging- she had been for weeks. She wasn’t one to go for this but ever since Ginny noticed how you two would bump hips in the hallway or wrap your arms around each other's shoulders, she was convinced there was a spark.
“Mione, I love you, I do, but please, drop it.” You spoke up, shoving your book off to the side to cross your arms over the table. “The spark doesn’t exist.” You and Harry both knew it was true.
“(Y/n). We all know you don’t have eyes on anyone so why not? The spark could form over time.. Right?” Ron added in, his chin resting in his hand as he shrugged his shoulders. You held your breath at his statement. It almost slipped out that you did, in fact, have someone.
“What? Like it did with you and Lavender?” Harry spoke up, causing you to snicker. The male in specks had barely spoken two words since the conversation turned from potions essays and charms homework to love lives.
“I thought we agreed not to bring that up again..” Ron mumbled, looking back down at his book.
“Anyway, I could still see it! I really do think you guys have potential.” Hermione shrugged her shoulders, before going back to her book. You could tell she was tapping her foot against the wooden floor. She must’ve reread the page seven times before looking back up to you. “But seriously! You guys could have quidditch dates! The seeker and the fanboy.”
“Hermione, stop. There’s nothing here. Trust me.” You were rubbing your temples in anguish. You knew she was a determined witch but holy hell. You and Harry let out a collective sigh of physical pain when she went on anyway. Stubborn girl, seriously.
“But there could be, (Y/n)! That’s my point! Could you imagine how amazing this could be for you two? You both need an amazing partner! Someone who cares! Someone who’ll take care of you! Someone who’s willing to themselves on the wire for a chang-” She stopped abruptly, causing you to glance side to side. What caused her to stop like that and how do you keep it around you?
You squealed in surprise and jumped when a hand landed on your chin and the other landed on the back of your chair. You were about to throw a nice right hook, but the hand on your chin directed your gaze upward, showing Draco with a smirk.
“Hello, love.” He planted a hard kiss against your lips, leading the entire library to become, somehow, quieter. Like, before it was drop-a-pin quiet, but now it was like drop-a-hair-follicle quiet. When he pulled away, he chuckled at your confused expression. “How was divination today? I heard you have a test tomorrow. Is that what you’re studying for? I could help.” He removed his hands from you and pulled the empty chair out next to you before sitting down and wrapping his arm around you.
Your eyes stared at your boyfriend in shock, your jaw hanging like you had a broken hinge. When his icy blue eyes met yours, you could see the jealousy burning in his irises. He must’ve heard Hermione talking about how perfect you and Harry would be. Of course he did, everyone in the library heard it.
“What the bloody fuck just happened?!” Ron yelled, earning himself a few glares from studying students. Your head whipped over to your friends, almost forgetting about them. Hermione’s jaw was practically against the floor while Harry didn’t look the slightest bit shocked. “No, I take that back. When did this fucking happen?!”
“Language, Ronald.” Draco spoke up, his arm tightening around your shoulder while his eyebrow raised. The blonde put a curled finger to his lips, counting the time in his head. “About four months ago.”
“Four. Four?” The fuming red-head held up said number of fingers. “Four months and you just.. What? You didn’t tell us? What kind of bloody frie-”
“Godric, Ron! This is why we didn’t say anything.” You kicked the leg of the table and turned to look away from your friends, trying to ignore the soft ache in your chest. It hurt that your friends didn’t really accept the relationship and, why would they? Draco has been a twat to them for years. Suddenly it felt like you were in a sauna as your eyes slowly pricked with tears. Were they ever going to talk to you again? Did you just lose the friends you have? The twins took it so well-
“That and my father would disown me faster than a fire bolt flies.” Draco shrugged casually, a smile coming across his lips when you turned to him.
“Wait, you guys didn’t know?” Harry asked, lifting his head up to turn to his friends, who turned to him quickly. “Oh, come on! It was so obvious!” Harry’s words left Ron, Hermione and yourself struggling to find something to say back.
“What?” Was all you could manage out.
“If Harry noticed, we might have an issue.” Draco snickered out. “I wonder who el-” The blonde was cut off by your hand covering his mouth.
“Wait, Harry, you knew? And you didn’t tell me?” You stared at him.
“Well.. Yeah. I figured it out when you were doodling his name all over your parchment in transfiguration and when you guys were making goo goo eyes at each other that afternoon.” Harry scoffed, rolling his eyes. Right, he.. He sat next to you in that class. Your cheeks turned bright red before you could hide it. “I didn’t wanna say anything in case you guys kept it a secret on purpose, so you’re welcome.”
“Gee, thanks Potter. I’ll keep that in mind.” Draco snickered out, a grin spread across his face when you gently shoved him in his chair.
“So, I still have one question.” Ron grumbled out, raising his hand halfway like he did in all his classes. “Why?”
“Same reason you’re dating Granger.” Draco paused, looking down to avoid anyone's gaze before licking his suddenly dry lips. He cleared his throat and glanced back up, choosing to look Ron right in the eyes. Ron nodded, waving his hand in a circular motion in a ‘go on, spit it out’ kind of way. The blonde could feel your eyes gaze on him, but chose to ignore it. “I love (Y/n). I thought that was obvious.”
Your eyes grew wider somehow. Ron blinked a few times, as if understanding but also not understanding. He’d only seen Draco as a cold, heartless beast and Hermione was in the same boat, but now they were confused. Or maybe it was just Ron. Hermione was smiling at you. This was the first time he’d said it out loud. You looked down at the desk, before looking at Harry, who was hiding a grin behind the now standing book, before turning to Draco.
“Wait, really?”
“Of course. Why do you think I basically ran over here when I heard Hermione speaking about you and Potter going on a quidditch date? No offense to you, Potter, I’m sure you’re a lovely partner.”
“None taken.”
“What universe am I in?”
“Ron, listen, please? We all know Draco has said some shit in his past, ok?” You turned to him. “We know and-and he’s trying to change and Godric, please don’t hate me when I say this. He.. Look, he-” You started stumbling over words, not wanting to put any in Draco’s mouth. He decided to speak up for you, hoping to put you out of your misery.
“I’m sorry. I know that doesn’t fix what I’ve said, how I’ve acted and what not, but a lot has changed in these four months and I’d rather not see my boyfriend lose his best friends over who he’s dating. He deserves the best of the best.”
Now even Harry seemed shocked. Ron looked down at his book before shutting it. He took a deep breath before letting it out slowly.
“You’re lucky you make him happy or else I would throw you off the astronomy tower.” Ron spoke up.
“Oh thank Godric.” You sighed out, your body slumping back in the chair.
“But if you hurt his feelings, I swear to Merlin and who’s.. Whos that muggle one?” Ron turned to his girl, confusion etched across his features, leading to giggle a tiny bit.
“Jesus?” Hermione grabbed Ron’s hand from the table.
“Yeah, him!” Ron pointed to his girl again for emphasis. “I swear on both of them I will not hesitate to do so.”
“Not if I do it first. If I do hurt him, I don’t think I’d be able to live with myself.” Draco nodded his head a tiny bit and pulled you closer into his side, a grin across his features.
“.. I’m not gonna get used to this.” Ron shook his head. The brunette witch sitting next to him elbowed him in the side gently. “Ow! I’m just being honest!”
“Ronald, you can’t just say stuff like that!” She countered, rolling her eyes.
“Why not? It’s the truth!”
“Because it’s rude..”
The couples arguing faded when Draco leaned into your bubble, whispering under the arguing so only you heard.
“Is this ok?” Draco’s arm was around your waist now, his eyes glancing into yours when you turned to him. You were so close to him, you could feel his tiny puffs of breathing brush across your lips.
“Of course, just not how I expected it to go.” You twiddled your fingers. “But I’m glad we told them.” You smiled, leaning up to brush your nose against his.
“So you feel the same way then?”
“Is it not obvious?”
“Nope. you haven’t said it yet, (Y/n). I must hear you admit it.” Draco smiled at you, his eyes fluttering shut. He smiled wider when you sighed dramatically.
“I love you too, Draco.” You pressed your lips against his and ignored the fake gagging noises from the red-head across the table. When you pulled away, you pressed your forehead against his, a matching smile across your lips.
“So does that mean I get to be the best man at the wedding?”
“Harry!”
“What? I’m just curious!”

“Jump!”
“What?! Are you insa-”
⚔︎.
It was probably a bad idea to be doing this. Actually, it was most definitely a bad idea to be doing this. But when has a ‘bad’ idea ever deterred the infamous Fred Weasley? In fact, the thought of anyone calling one of his ideas ‘bad’ just spelt encouragement in Fred’s mind.
You’d learnt that lesson two months into meeting the Weasley twins, and it’s only engrained itself in your mind further since. There’s never been a point to try to dissuade Fred, it’s best to just go along and hope the ride isn’t too bumpy along the way. After dating Fred, these bad ideas had expanded themselves to different categories- risky places to be intimate, weird ways to cheer you up with confessions of love, and dangerously stupid dates.
The last category was where today’s bad idea landed.
⚔︎.
Three days ago, Fred had the “most ingenious, marvellous, uniquely exciting date idea Hogwarts has ever seen!” He’d disappeared in the middle of lunch, dragging George along with him, mumbling to himself, “I can’t believe I didn’t think of this sooner!”, leaving you confused, sat alone in the Great Hall.
“Where are they going?”
Harry, Ron and Hermione popped up behind you, seating themselves down in the twins’ now deserted seats.
“I have absolutely no clue.”
⚔︎.
That’s how you found yourself here, two days later. A Saturday, you were all set to go on a Hogsmeade trip with some of your Ravenclaw friends when Fred ambushed you. Popping up out of a closet and scaring the living lights out of you, he dragged you behind him, laughing as you shouted at him.
“Freddie! What are you doing? I’m supposed to go meet Renee and the others right now!”
Regardless of the fact that Fred was making you miss plans you’d already made, you were beaming from ear to ear.
“Georgie’s already told ‘em you can’t make it. Now hurry up
This being your OWLs year, you’d hardly had the time to see Fred this term, busy studying while he went off doing whatever it was he did when you weren’t around. Being a year younger meant he had already studied everything you’d studied, and while he offered to help you a lot, you’d rather he go have fun than sit around revising old material with you.
Combined with the Triwizard Tournament and the fact that the twins saw this as the golden opportunity to sell products to customers other than Hogwarts student, you’d only had three dates in the almost three months since school had started.
“Where in the name of Merlin are you bringing me, Fred!”
“You’ll see soon enough darling!”
⚔︎.
Soon enough turned out to be ten minutes later, the two of you panting as you’d finally made it all the way across to the other side of the castle and up the stairs to the Astronomy Tower.
The sun was shining brightly down upon the two of you, the tall windows welcoming the late November winds into the room. A chest sat next to one of the ledges, Fred finally letting go of your hand for the first time in ten minutes, reaching down to open it.
He took a piece of cloth out, closing the chest before you could sneak a peek at the contents, tucking the wooden box under his arm.
“Is this the brilliant date idea you were talking about the other day? I’m not going to lie to you Freddie, cloth doesn’t really scream ingenious to me. In fact, it seems like you brought me up here to clean.”
Raising your eyebrows at the ginger, you gestured at the fabric in his hand as he laughed at you, stepping up onto the ledge.
“Fred? What’re you doing?!”
The boy turned towards you, holding out a hand.
“Come up here.”
Your eyes widened.
“No! Are you insane?”
Fred’s hand faltered a bit, arm relaxing against his body as he looked into your eyes.
“Do you trust me?”
Silent, you stepped up next to Fred, clinging onto his hip and arm, knees shaking slightly at the height you were at.
“I trust you with my life.”
Adjusting the chest under his arm, Fred pulled you into his embrace.
“That’s good to hear. Because it’s time.”
He looked down, dropping the piece of cloth, before tilting your head up to look at him, stepping one foot off the ledge and into the skies.
“Jump!”
“What?! Are you insa-”
You were cut off by screams erupting from your mouth as the ground disappeared below you- Fred pulling you with him, laughter bubbling from his chest.
“Oh my God, I’m going to die-”
You reached the ground a lot quicker than you’d thought possible, your eyes squeezed shut, bracing for the imminent death that would come.
Instead, you felt a weird, soft surface, almost like a water bed, rippling under you as you landed on your knees.
“Am I in heaven?”
Your eyes opened slowly, eyes meeting the clouds around you, only for a shadow to cover the sights surrounding you.
“No, but I think I am.”
A kiss landed on your lips as you fell back on the odd surface, Fred falling on top of you.
The kiss was short and sweet, but quickly forgotten as you remembered what had happened moments prior, hitting Fred on the chest as you took in your surroundings.
The surface you had landed on wasn’t a surface at all- in fact it was, a rug? It looked eerily similar to the cloth Fred had thrown off the tower earlier, only, about thirty times bigger, and flying.
You looked at Fred, confused. The tall ginger boy beamed back at you, gesturing grandly.
“Welcome, to your very own magic carpet ride!”
⚔︎.
After lecturing Fred on how incredibly dangerous the start of the date had been, you finally had the chance to process the reality of the date.
“Where are we going, then, on this magic carpet ride?”
The boy hummed, pulling out blankets and a pillow from the, now enlarged, chest, spreading them around the carpet that was hovering near the tip of the Astronomy Tower, awaiting further instruction from the two of you.
“Well first, I was thinking we could stop by Hogsmeade to get some snacks, maybe buy some of the Christmas gifts you wanted to go get today, then we’re flying off to explore Scotland! Well, the part of Scotland we’re in, anyways. Just for a few hours, then we’ll be back to watch the sunset.”
He looked at you for approval, which you granted with a wide smile.
“That sounds beautiful Fred.”
⚔︎.
Walking around Hogsmeade, Fred had shrunk the rug and tucked it into his pocket, the chest shrunk even smaller than it had been the first time you’d seen it.
“Alright, so I think you’ve gotten enough sugar quills to last you a lifetime. Where to next?”
Chewing on a sugar quill, you scrunched your nose in his direction, pulling him into the quaint little jewellery shop you liked to frequent.
The little old lady who owned the place was one you’d become acquainted with over the past five years, Mrs Kingston never minded that you rarely bought anything, understanding that most of her second-hand jewellery was still quite pricey for a student to afford.
Still, you tried your best to save up and buy the pieces you really liked. Recently, you’d been eyeing a necklace, a simple Celtic knot on a thin chain that shone brightly no matter how much light lit up the room. Mrs Kingston explained to you it was an old betrothal necklace, oft seen in pureblood families back in the Victorian era. It’s now seen worn by a lot of the heirs of these old families- in fact, you’d spotted Draco wearing an heirloom similar to it.
“Mrs Kingston!”
“Hello y/n, how are you?”
Fred nodded at the woman as he shuffled around the shop, looking in the display cabinets with vague interest whilst the two of you made small talk.
Your eyes wandered the familiar glass cabinet, landing on the soft velvet that was empty of the familiar Celtic knot, furrowed brows returning to meet Mrs Kingston's clouded eyes.
“The necklace!”
The woman nodded sadly, looking just as dejected as you felt.
“I'm sorry dearie. A boy came in a while ago to buy it. Might've been one of the ones you came with a few weeks back.”
Your head hung low, muttering out a soft 'oh' as she explained to you, nodding in response.
“It's okay Mrs Kingston. I'll see if there's something else I'd like to save up for instead. Thanks, see you next time!”
Thinking back to the last Hogsmeade trip when you'd come down to the shop, your heart lifted a bit, a smile returning to your face as you turned to face Fred.
“Alright, let's head to the bookstore.”
⚔︎.
The ginger's hand clutched yours tightly, the two of you cuddling under the thick blanket as you flew around mountains, pointing out animals, both magical and non-magical, that you'd seen around the place.
Fred looked at you quizzically. Since leaving Mrs Kingston's, you had seemingly forgotten the necklace. Even more, it seemed like you'd gotten happier since finding out someone had gotten the necklace. During the lunch you two had gotten at the Three Broomsticks, the both of you finding Madam Puddifoot's a bit nauseating, you were practically bouncing on your heels as you spoke to some of your friends about the upcoming Christmas celebrations.
“I thought you'd be more upset that the necklace is gone, I remember you talking about how much you liked it last time.”
You shrugged, a wider smile gracing your lips as you looked at him, nuzzling further into his chest.
“I love it! That's why I'm so happy Cedric got it for me. ”
Fred halted, pushing you away from him.
“I-, what! Why would Diggory be getting you a betrothal necklace?!”
You looked up at your boyfriend, furrowing your brows at his outburst.
“What! You know Ced's one of my best friends. Remember when we came to the shop a few weeks back? You, George and Lee were goofing around and then just bolted while I was telling Ced about the necklace. I guess he just came back to get it for me.”
Fred huffed, rolling his eyes as he heard you talk about Cedric, pulling away from you more.
“How could you be this blind!”
You looked at Fred, a bit hurt that he'd lost his temper at you for no reason.
“Why are you getting so worked up over this? It's not like he's proposing to me!”
The boy scoffed, throwing his hands up into the air.
“Well, it's clear that he'd do it without a thought! The boy's in love with you! That's the only reason why anyone would get you something that expensive!”
You laughed frigidly, shaking your head at how irrational your boyfriend was being, pushing the blanket off of you to move away from him.
“What, he can't just have gotten me the necklace because I'm a good friend? Merlin Fred, he's the only one who's actually been with me to go see the necklace, and is the only one who would logically know to get me the necklace.”
You turned to look him in the eye, your jaw clenching as he turned red.
“Besides, Cedric knows me best.”
Fred let out a frustrated 'ugh!', and grabbed the wooden chest that he'd charmed to stay in one corner, grumbling under his breath.
“You think Diggory's the one who knows you best? You think that he's the only one that could have gotten you the bloody necklace?”
A velvet box was brandished from somewhere deep in the chest, Fred propping it open to reveal a dazzling silver necklace, reflecting the afternoon sun into your eyes.
“The. I don't understand. But how?”
Fred snapped the box shut, moving to kneel in front of you.
“As I said just now, I know you best.”
He popped open the box again, this time moving to remove the necklace from the velvet, lifting it fully into the sunlight.
“I was listening when you were talking to Diggory, and even though I'd run away that day, I knew exactly what you wanted.”
He shuffled behind you, unclasping the necklace to bring it around your front.
“I said that he's in love with you, which I still think is true, by the way, and that's the reason why he would have possibly gotten it for you, is because I love you, and that's why I got it for you.”
The chain clipped around your neck, the cool metal contrasting your warm skin as Fred leaned down to press a kiss above the clasp, sending a shiver down your spine.
“Freddie, I had no idea.”
You spun around to face your boyfriend, pressing a deep kiss to his lips, hands landing on his neck to pull him impossibly closer to yourself.
“Clearly. I had this whole plan! All foiled by your cluelessness. I was going to wait until sunset, with the scenery all around us, then surprise you with it and ask you to be my date to the Yule Ball!”
You looked at Fred, your mouth falling open in shock.
“But you just had to bring up Cedric, and how he 'knows you best'. Maybe you should go with him to the Ball.”
You chuckled at the childishness of the Weasley boy in front of you, the pout framing his lips deepening as you laughed at him.
“Well then maybe you should go with Angie, I'm sure she'd be happy to have you.”
Fred gasped loudly, shocked at the audacity of you bringing up his old crush.
“Don't you even dare suggest that.”
⚔︎.
“How did you think of all this?”
The boy shrugged, opening the chest, to pull out a thermos. You were sat above the Black Lake, watching the setting sun on the horizon ahead, red bleeding into orange and blue.
“Honestly, I’m ashamed it took me so long. Remember this summer when you had me ‘round your place and we watched Aladdin with your parents?”
You nodded, fluffing the pillows to make yourself more comfortable, the setting sun casting shadows on the Weasley boy, making him look even more handsome than usual, if that was even possible.
“At that time, I’d already thought that the magic carpet seemed awfully similar to a broom. Then, that day at lunch some firstie was humming that one song they sang when flying the blasted thing, and I thought, blimey! Why didn’t I think to just recreate the bloody thing! So, here we are.”
While talking, Fred spread the thick blanket to cover more of you, pouring hot chocolate out of the thermos he’d brought into mugs that he’d gotten without you knowing, both shaped in little hearts.
“D’you, um, d’you like it?”
Handing the pink mug to you, a sheen of red descended on your boyfriend’s cheeks, not just from the cold, but also fear and embarrassment, scared you didn’t like the date he’d spent the last three days planning.
“I love it!”
You leaned forward, planting a soft kiss on Fred’s lips, leaving traces of cocoa on them.
“But I didn’t love the part where you made me think I was plunging sixty feet to my death!”
The boy groaned playfully, lying back onto the carpet with his head hanging over the edge.
“I know! I’m sorry! I just thought it’d be exciting! A nice surprise! Besides, did you really think I’d let my lovely little Y/N die? I need you around darling.”
You scoffed, sipping on the hot cocoa as you stared at the Astronomy Tower in the distance, your first and now, final destination of the day, a hand creeping towards Fred’s to hold it in a tight grip, unconsciously afraid he’d fall.
“I don’t know! Maybe this was your ultimate prank! Bring us both to heaven to fight God or something.”
Now it was Fred’s turn to scoff, sitting back up to shove his hands under the blanket, squeezing your hand in return.
“First off, if I ever fought God I’d need George there with me. I don’t think that just the two of us could take him. Secondly,”
Fred cupped your chin with his free hand, bringing you in for a deep kiss, catching you by surprise as you braced yourself on his shoulder with your free hand. His tongue teased your lower lip, making a moan slip out while his tongue entered your mouth. Exploring each other, your entangled hands fell apart- his coming to grasp your neck, bringing you closer to him, yours gripping his hip, drawing circles on the bone.
After what seemed like an hour, but also felt like seconds, the two of you fell apart, breathless as you panted, staring into each other’s eyes.
“I don’t think either of us are making it to heaven darling. Think we’re condemned to hell forever, you and I.”
You looked into his coffee coloured eyes, pupils dilated as he scanned your face, his favourite pastime, memorising every crevice and pore. Your hand found its way to the necklace sitting around your neck, fingering the knot that symbolised eternity in your hands.
“Well if I’m going to burn in hell for an eternity, then I’m glad I’ll be burning with you Freddie.”

We're Worlds Apart (7)
Draco Malfoy x American No-Maj!reader
series m.list | general m.list | previous chp
warnings: none (other than blaise being jealous)
summary: Draco Malfoy is a pureblood wizard. Magic runs through his veins and has been since his birth. You're a Wiccan No-Maj; a non-magical being with ordinary blood through your veins, but practices what you call magick. And this very practice upsets your neighbor.
a/n: my workplace is under construction and i'm stressed bc i have to work around all the rubbish and it makes me stay longer when i wanna come home and write 😭 anyways, this is unedited so i'll come back to it after i clock off tonight
(gif cred)
Being friends with you was kind of weird. Draco couldn't really tell you about his day because it consisted of magic nearly the entire time. He’s also at work for almost the entire week, so he wasn't really at home much.
Except for now. Draco finally had twelve days off to spend with his best mates. He had been so caught up with the chaos that surrounded him at work that he wasn't able to plan any sightseeing activities to do with them, so he just let them pick whatever it was they wanted to do.
“I could always ask Y/N what to do,” Blaise suggested. Yes, Draco hadn't forgotten the small fling between you and his best mate. Blaise would go over to your house at least three nights a week while Draco stayed overnight at Santa Marie's. Theo didn't mind being by himself and was grateful that the guest bedroom was farthest from your bedroom window. Draco was also grateful that he chose to go on nights he wasn't home; he didn't need to hear you two throughout the night.
Now that a hatchet was somewhat buried, Draco thought that asking you was a good idea. He nodded his head and headed for the door. Blaise also got up, but the both of them stopped when their hands nearly collided on the door knob. “Oh, did you want to ask her?” Blaise questioned.
“Uh… no you go. She's your…” Draco paused, “You go ahead.” Blaise gave him a weird look before walking out the door and headed to your house. Theo watched the whole thing and waited to start laughing at Draco. He glared at Nott and spat out, “What are you laughing at?”
“What was that?” Theo held his stomach as he caught his breath. “Did you want to talk to her?” Draco didn't appreciate whatever his friend was trying to say. It's just a bloody question. He sat down on the couch and picked up the Daily Prophet from Theo’s hands. He wasn't surprised to find Harry Potter in it, a column about his recent marriage with Weasley’s sister. He was surprised that they hadn't gotten married sooner.
“Do you think it's weird that Blaise is dating a muggle?” Theo asked. His face was neutral, but his tone was suggestive. Draco internalized the question. On one hand, it didn't really disturb him all that much. He was confused as to whether or not you were his girlfriend, but Blaise doesn't really talk about you too much. On another hand, he knew Blaise and even though you annoyed him – or did you? – he always took pity on any girl that mixed with Blaise. Draco didn't know what Blaise would do, but it was enough to get anyone on their knees for him in more ways than one.
“I don’t care who or what he dates,” Draco stated. Theo went to minding his business, until something caught his attention from outside. “Oh Salazar, what is he doing?” Theo’s voice was filled with amusement. Draco turned from his sitting position and saw what was happening.
Blaise was fully making out with you right on your porch. Out where anyone could watch. One of his hands were tangled in your hair while the other one was resting gently on your waist. Your hands rested shyly on his shoulders and it looked as if you were on your toes just to reach up to his height. The kiss was slow and sensual.
It was exactly what Draco needed to see. Because from that, he felt nothing at all. Just a gross feeling that he was potentially invading someone's privacy. Sure, they were outside but it still felt weird. Draco wasn't one to enjoy public displays of affection.
“Wow, he’s really milking it out. You reckon he asked her about sight-seeing?” Theo kept observing them from the window. Draco hit his head with the newspaper rolled up. Theo laughed and turned to look at the blond man next to him. “How come you’re not with anyone?”
“With where I work, do you honestly think I have time to find someone?” Draco sassed as he continued reading. Dating was the last thing on his mind. He was too focused on work to even flirt with another woman. Pansy was the last person Draco had ever dated. He was meant to be betrothed to Astoria Greengrass, but Draco declined and started his path to becoming a healer. He also didn't want to be in a marriage knowing he couldn't genuinely love her.
Moving to America, he never found anyone interesting. Ashley was nice but not only was she already married, she was married to a woman. Other women in the department, or hospital as a whole, took an initial liking to Draco, but he figured it was solely due to the fact that he’s a foreign British man with an accent. After a month of women flirting with him, it died down almost completely and everyone treated him as normal which pretty much confirmed it to him. Would Draco like to date someone? Absolutely. But right now, he was perfectly happy being by himself.
Theo knew Draco enough to know when he was fibbing and this wasn't one of those times. He was glad to see Draco be okay with himself after all this time. He remembers the constant need of validation during their days at Hogwarts. And it was because of a certain wizard who Draco was always competing with. Now as for Theo, he had been out of the dating scene for a while and he was nearly desperate to get laid.
He dropped the topic and got up to take a short nap in the guest room. A few moments later, Blaise was knocking on the door. Draco got up to open it and was caught by surprise to see you standing behind Blaise. You looked like you weren't really sure what you were doing there either. “Mate,” Blaise started off, “what if we brought her along with us?”
You blinked at the tall man standing in front of you and then looked at Draco who had the same facial expression. “Who else better to show us around than someone who actually lives here?” Blaise suggested. It made sense; you would know your way around and Draco could save himself the trouble of not only Blaise and Theo being lost, but also Draco also getting lost. He still had a hard time with some of the streets. One-way streets, round-a-bouts, and bike lanes were still new to him. And you once mentioned how Manhattan was worse than the streets here in Buffalo, so how would he deal with that?
You stood unusually quiet. Blaise had only just asked you to tag along with them and before you could even process the question, you were being dragged to Draco’s house. “I don’t know, I don't want to intrude on–”
“Nonsense, you’d be our guide. I highly doubt Draco knows where he’s going,” Blaise assured. He got a stern ‘Hey’ from the blond but ignored it. “What do you say? Come with us?” You looked back and forth from the both of them and settled on Draco, your eyes asking him if he would even want you there. He shrugged his shoulders, leaving it up to you.
“Uh, sure. I’d just have to fix my schedule and–” you started before Blaise cut you off, “Great! We leave tomorrow at seven in the morning.” He kissed your forehead and walked inside. Draco stood at the door and was still confused as to what just happened. You started to walk away before Draco asked you, “Should we take my car?” You turned around and thought about it. “If you want.”
Draco preferred it, so he just agreed to it. “I’ll see you tomorrow, then.” You smiled sheepishly and raised your hand to say 'bye’. Tomorrow was surely going to be… something.
—
You were hoping to be able to rest your head on Blaise’s shoulder for the ride to the airport. But here you were, in Draco’s car with the largest cup of coffee that was barely keeping you awake as you drove there. You were glad that Draco had common sense to book two flight tickets for everyone to go there because there was so way in hell you were going to drive six hours to Manhattan and another six back.
Theo, however, was resting his head on Blaise’s shoulder as he snored away during the short ride. Blaise tried to shove him off, but it turned out that the sleepy friend was heavier than he looked. It was funny, really. Draco sat in the passenger seat next to you on his phone trying to read out directions. You insisted you didn't need them, but he said they were more for himself when they come back home.
Once on the plane, you finally got some shut eye. You stayed up all night thinking about what to do for the day. Where to go, what to eat, what to see. And other things kept you up, but that's besides the point. During the security check, you had to hold your laughter. It was hilarious to watch the three men be so confused as to what was going on. They acted like it was their first time in an airport.
The seats you had were nice and surely expensive. Draco insisted that you didn't have to pay him back. Must be nice being rich you thought. Blaise looked at you and poked your nose, “Is someone sleepy?” You glared at him before laying back into your seat, “Maybe if you didn't keep me up all night, I wouldn't be tired.” You didn't know how the man could have this much energy in the morning.
The hour went by quick and you were in Manhattan by ten in the morning. You suggested a local diner that was near the airport which they all agreed to since they didn't know their way around. At the diner, Blaise and Theo had made a dash for the restroom. You laughed at the view of Theo pushing Blaise behind him and Blaise glaring at him as he smacked the back of his head.
“I swear, they’re still childish gits,” Draco groaned. “26 years old and they still don't grow up.” You nudged his arm from across the table. “Leave them be. They’re still young, and so are you. Let loose, we’re in New York City after all. Can’t be brooding the whole time.” Draco rolled his eyes and looked at the menu that was under the glass on the table.
A waitress came up to your table with a small clipboard and notepad. “Are you two ready to order?” she asked sweetly. “Not yet, we’re waiting on two people to come back,” you answered. “Oh that’s cute, is this a double date?”
Without hesitation, you and Draco stated at the same time, “We’re not together.” The waitress looked between the two of you and just nodded. “I’ll be back, then.” The both of you hadn’t said a word when she left and patiently waited for his friends to come back. Shortly after, they did. Blaise took the spot in the booth next to you and Theo next to Draco.
“Alright, what do you suggest I get?” Blaise asked you. He had his body slightly facing yours and an arm over the top of the seat around you. He hadn't bothered to look on the menu and just focused on your features. “Depends, what do you like?”
“Anything,” he lowered his voice and was close to your ear. The breath tickled your ear which made you giggle. “Okay, we get it. You two are cute. Now keep it down, I’d like to be able to digest this food,” Theo’s nose crinkled as he complained. You still didn't know Theo all that much. This morning, he walked like a zombie and he probably just became fully awake, so to see his best friend making kissy faces at you before his first meal wasn't an ideal way to start the day. Draco chuckled in his seat as he was still figuring out what to order.
“I have to make a quick call,” you announced before pulling out your phone and called one of your employees, “Were you able to open fine on your own? Okay, call me if anything happens. Okay, bye.” The waitress came back and took down the order after she set a pot of coffee for the four of you.
Theo was the first to say something, “So, Y/N is it?” You nodded in response as you took a sip from your mug. “What is it that you do in your free time? Other than Blaise, of course.” He had a smug smile watching as you blushed. Two seconds later, the table shook and Theo groaned in pain. Unbeknownst to you, both Blaise and Draco had kicked Theo in his shins.
“Stupid git,” Draco said under his breath. Theo glared at his friends as he rubbed his legs. You cleared your throat and started to speak before Blaise stopped you, “You don’t have to answer that.”
“It’s okay, he was just joking,” you defended. “No he wasn't,” Draco added. You ignored him and looked at Theo, “What do you want to know?”
He had your full attention and ignored the looks from his friends, “What do you do for a living? What’s your work like?”
“Well, I uhh,” you started, “I own a store downtown. I’m there almost everyday.”
“What kind of store is it?” Theo asked as he leaned over the table closer to you. “What do you sell?”
“Candles,” for the second time that day, you and Draco synchronized. “Yeah, I sell candles and little… knick knacks,” you still hadn't opened up to Draco or Blaise for that matter about your Wiccan activities. So to say that you sold sage bundles, specially made oils and healing crystals would raise questions you weren't ready to answer now.
“Draco, have you ever been to the place? What is it called, by the way?” Theo kept on. Blaise was certainly not kidding when he said that Theo loved to talk. “No, I haven't,” Draco answered. “It’s called Soul Beads, wasn't it?”
“Yeah, that’s the name.” The food was brought on a large tray. Blaise handed your plate to you and you grabbed your fork to dig in. He was eating slowly, looking as if he was thinking about something. “Hey, you okay?” you whispered to him, Draco and Theo having their own conversation. “Oh, uh, yeah. I’m fine, love,” Blaise continued eating at a faster pace now. You looked around the men that surrounded you and smiled. Today’s gonna be fun.
—
The day went… weird. Blaise tried to have as much fun as possible but something was bothering him. Was it Theo talking his head off the entire time? No, I’m used to that. Was it his legs tired after walking almost all day? No, not that. Was it how even though you held his hands the whole time and gave him occasional kisses on his cheek or lips, you had gone the entire day talking to Draco and shared a couple laughs with him? Absolutely.
Jealousy was always an ugly emotion to Blaise. It annoyed him during his time at Hogwarts, and it annoys him now. The way girls would ask him if he was messing around with other girls and he’d always say the same thing. “How could I when you’re the most beautiful girl in these halls?” They’d all swoon over it. And by the looks of it, you swooned over his every word as well. But the looks you gave him were different from the ones you gave Draco.
From all the letters he had gotten from Draco, Blaise knew how much he hated you. No, loathed. But after the two of you decided to make nice, it was like you had been friends since day one. Draco may have even looked comfortable talking to you. And it bothered Blaise. His time with you may have been short, but today made him realize something.
Blaise is nowhere near being in love, he knew that much. But he knew that he didn't want to be messing around anymore. He wants to have an actual relationship, and right now, he wanted it with you. Blaise was confused by it all. He should be happy that his best friend and a girl he likes gets along. It would make it all that much easier.
But something about the two of you was odd today.
Maybe there was a look that lasted too long. Or a tone that came out differently. Or maybe… no. Blaise knew what it was. He just wants to have that same friendship with you. Blaise still didn't know that much about you. He didn't even know you had your own store until that morning. And to hear that his friend who supposedly hates you even knows not only the name of the store, but what you sell, hit something in him.
So, he was going to change that. Because for the most part, you were pretty interesting. He knew you were a Wiccan and as much as he doesn't really care to know what it was all about – considering he can just do any magic with a flick of a wand – he’d at least know you a little better.
Momentarily, as he was deep in thought, Theo’s annoying voice popped in his head. Hey, at least you know her in a way Malfoy won’t. He mentally cringed at it for a second before he thought Wait. I do. It was a start, not one that someone usually prefers, but it was better than nothing.
You sat beside him on the ride back home and had a smile on your lips while you rested on him. Draco was driving and Theo wanted to raise the volume of the music but his hand was slapped away. “She’s sleeping, idiot.” Draco scolded.
“Merlin, look at this,” Theo looked at Blaise as he pointed to Draco’s face. “Malfoy caring for a muggle? I’ve seen everything now.”
“M-muggle?” You rubbed your eyes and yawned. The three Slytherin’s had wide eyes, Blaise cursing Theo with his eyes. “I've heard,” you let out another yawn, “Draco say that before.”
Merlin, how many times have these actually talked? Blaise thought. “I-it’s just slang from London,” he tried to cover up. You nodded your head and gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek before going back to sleep.
Once everyone was home, Blaise walked you to your door. “I had fun today, did you?” Blaise gave his most convincing smile, “Yeah, I did.”
You said ‘Good night’ and almost closed the door when he stopped you. “Is it alright that I stay with you tonight?”
“I'm kind of tired, maybe tomorrow–”
“No, not for that,” Blaise chuckled at your insinuation. You looked slightly surprised. And it made sense considering that's almost all he came over for. Nonetheless, you let him into your home. Blaise stayed true to his words and just laid beside you in bed until the two went to sleep.
In his own bedroom, Draco smiled as he thought about the fun day he had. Maybe being friends with you wasn't so bad. He went to his kitchen to grab a drink when he noticed there was one person missing. “Where's Blaise?”
“I think he's staying at Y/N’s,” Theo stated. Inside, Draco felt an unusual pang in his chest. He let it go and went to bed. Hopelessly trying to get out of his head whatever you two were up to.

-Ice Skating Disaster- Draco Malfoy x Female Reader
Kody: I’m deadass running out of ideas, so request something for a DRaco x reader if you really want to.
Summary: After weeks of flirting, Draco asks you on a date which takes a turn for the worst, but ends sweet.
Warning: Draco being a soft boy, cursing,
House: Slytherin.
♡~🐍~♡
♡~🐍~♡
You still couldn’t believe it. Draco Malfoy had asked you out. After weeks of flirting you thought that was all it was gonna be, just flirting. Until he showed up at the dorm room looking like a nervous wreck. He pulled his hand from behind his back to reveal a basket of sweets and asked you on the spot if you’d like to go out with him.
You laughed at first because of his nervous behavior. Draco must of taken that as rejection because he turned around to leave. You grabbed his arm and said yes, which made his cocky grin return back to his face. He told you the time and place and left you to freak out in your room.
Now you were slipping on your black winter boots on your feet. He said to dress for the weather so you put on layers. The harsh winter ruined your chance of wearing a tight skimpy outfit for the blond Slytherin, but you would manage. Your outfit still looked really cute. After you laced your boots you headed out your dorm room to meet your date.
♡~🐍~♡
You walked down the halls of Hogwarts saying hi to a couple people you knew along the way to the courtyard. As soon as you left the warmth of the Hogwarts castle the piercing cold enveloped you, making you ears turn pink as well as your nose. You took a look around the courtyard to see Draco leaning against a tree. The sight brought a smile to your face and you walked over.
He hadn’t seen you yet, which you took advantage of. You walked behind the tree and crouched down to make a snowball quickly and quietly. You formed the ball in your hand and stood back up, peering behind the tree you threw the snowball at Draco. You ducked back behind as Draco let out a gasp “Who through that!” you held in your laugh as he walked from the tree and looked around.
He walked right past you and you hastily made another snowball. Hiding again and peering, you threw another one. This one hitting the back of his head. An angered expression came over him and he looked at all the other gathering students who were chatting in the courtyard “My father will here about this, you bloody menace!” you lost it and began to laugh, loudly. Draco snapped his head to the direction of the sound and slowly began to approach the tree.
You jokingly put your hands up as he spotted you, his expression softened “Very funny Y/n” he rolled his eyes in slight annoyance “I know, that’s why i did it” you sarcastically replied. It’s one of the things he liked about you, you weren’t afraid of him. Draco smirks at your response and holds out his hand “Let’s get going, shall we?” you smile and accept his hand into yours “We shall”
♡~🐍~♡
Draco led you away from Hogwarts and towards the black lake. You thought it was strange until you saw all the students ice skating then it hit you. “We’re ice skating?” “Indeed we are” Draco glances at you and notices your unsure expression “I thought it was a good idea, i apologize-” “No, it’s not that. I’ve just never ice skated before” you say sheepishly. Draco grins, tilting his head towards yours “Then all teach you, Y/n” you smile warmly despite the weather,
“Okay, then i’m happy to try then” Your response makes Draco nod as he leads you onto the ice. “I may have never done this, but i’m pretty sure you need skates-” as you talked Draco took his wand out and casted a spell at your feet and his. So you both had skates. You slipped instantly and Draco caught your arms “I probably should have warned you beforehand” “No, really?”
He helps you stand straight and grabs your hand “Follow my lead, okay?” he asked. You simply nodded and watch as he skated, you started to copy his footwork and soon enough you were skating next to each other. “Must of had a good teacher” Draco says cheekily and you roll your eyes, but decide to boost his ego “The best” he smiles at your answer.
♡~🐍~♡
After about 10 minutes of skating and chating you heard commotion from the a bit away “Ron, you can’t do the spell. Stop trying!” Harry shouted at his friend. You heard Draco scoff “Damn saint Potter and his friends” his tone was laced with anger. You squeezed his hand and smiled “They’re all the way over there. Will be fine” you reassure and he sighs, nodding. “Your right. I’m on a date with a beautiful girl. I don’t need to be worrying about what the golden trio is up to”
You felt your face flush at his words “But i can, watch!” Ron pointed his wand towards the nice “Reducto!” “Ron no!” Hermione shouted and pushed his arm. HIs spell hit the ice in front of you, causing a hole to break. You tried to stop yourself, but you slid and fell into the freezing cold water “Y/n!” Draco shouted as he went to pull you out.
You went to swim up, but the ice had already froze back up. Draco felt panic course through him as the Golden Trio runs towards the commotion. Hermione went over to where you were under the ice and casted the same spell “Reducto!” she quickly went over and pulled you out the water by your arms. Draco turns to Ron who looked guilty “I’ll kill you Weasley! Understand?! You come near her, i will kill you!-” “D-Draco..” Your weak voice broke him from his angry rant.
Draco rushed to you and dropped to your side, taking you from Hermione’s arms. Your head laid against his chest as he looked at Hermione “Thank you, Granger” he spoke lowly, so only she could hear. She gave him a short smile and stood up, grabbing Ron’s ear to drag him away as Harry followed along. “I-I’m cold” you said meekly “Let’s get you somewhere warm”
♡~🐍~♡
You stepped out of Draco’s bathroom “Thanks for giving me something warm to wear” Draco had taken you to his dorm and let you take a warm shower. He gave you some of his clothes to wear which he knew would be a treat for his eyes. You were wearing a emerald green sweatshirt and black joggers. Draco turned away from the fireplace and looked at you.
He swore his heart started to beat a million times faster. “uh- no problem” You felt small under his gaze so much that it made you look away. He had also changed into a long sleeve shirt as well as black joggers. Draco broke from his gaze from you and went over to his bed, grabbing a blanket. He walks over to you and wraps the thick blanket around your shoulders.
You smile sheepishly as he leads you to the fireplace. He sits you on the sofa in front of it and takes a seat next to you. You feel the heat from the fire around your body making you hum. Draco smiles and wraps an arm around you, pulling slush against him. You lean into him and shut your eyes “I’m sorry” he spoke suddenly, you open your eyes and pull away to look at him “For what Draco?”
“I wanted this first date to be special and you almost drowned and/or froze to death” he said shaking his head, he looked annoyed with himself. Like it was somehow his fault that you fell into the black lake. “I wish i could take it back” he sighs “I don’t, who wants a normal first date? I for one enjoy the life threatening experience.” he smiles at your words “You really are something special Y/n” he spoke, turning his body to face yours.
You smile cheekily and lean in “Then kiss me like im special, Malfoy” he didn’t need to be told twice and immediately kissed you. You liked how forceful he was being and let yourself melt into his touch. He tilted his head to kiss you deeper, leaning into you more. Your stomach filled with butterflies as you fell back onto the sofa, pulling him with you. He pulls away and smiles triumphantly. “You look good under me, we should make that a regular thing” he teases, making you laugh quietly “Good, i better be the only one” you reply and he smiles, nodding his head.
”You definitely are”

Hey Jude! Can you explain to me ~like I'm five~ your idea of how Amortentia works in RN? I loved your twist in the Patronus charm, that a happy idea of something you want can be as powerful as a hapoy memory of something you had. But I dont think I got the Amortentia thing. The scent is the same from the first time they smelled it (in 6th year), even before they were in love? And they realised what it was after/because they started dating? Is it a "soulmate" thingy?
Oh anon, you are in for a very long response, I’m sorry. Thank you for reading RN! I originally replied to a comment on ao3 with the explanation you see below.
I've based my own personal canon around Amortentia based on Harry's experience with it in the 6th book. Since it's told from Harry's POV, we get three smells for him: treacle tart, broom handle, and something flowery he thinks is from the Burrow that we later learn is Ginny.
Extrapolating from there, I read his scents as comfort and maternal love (treacle tart is his fave dessert and one Molly Weasley, a mother figure to him, makes for him), happiness and freedom (the broom handle means flying, something he both excels at and is an activity free of his daily burdens as a savior) and then Ginny, which is something he doesn't recognize immediately. With the scent that is Ginny, that is both something he hasn't acknowledged internally yet and perhaps shows a hope for Harry in that he could love this person and perhaps they will find a future together should he survive everything.
In RN, Draco's scents have always been the Manor gardens in summer, fresh coffee, and Hermione in the library. The garden is probably obvious (carefree childhood, being doted on by his parents in the safe environment of his home.)
Coffee is a bit more complicated (again, this is my own, way too detailed head canon). Of course tea is the preferred beverage in the Malfoy household, making coffee a bit of a forbidden treat because it's considered so common. Here is my overly involved personal canon for this: I think 6th year Draco was at his wit's end, not sleeping, dragging himself down to breakfast every morning. But he needs to be alert because he has to finish mending that cabinet. So he desperately resorts to coffee. But he likes the taste! How plebeian! And it's a little bit of rebellion on his part against his proper upbringing because his upbringing has now landed him in this awful, horrible position and so if coffee is his way to rebel (silently) then so be it. Plus, the mornings at Hogwarts are safe and familiar and he can relish in that for just a bit longer before he has to go about his day, worrying over his parents' fate.
Coffee at the coffee shop then becomes part of his routine as an adult, and as you rightly noted, that place helped him during his struggles, so he associates the smell with safety. He can go to this cafe and no one will bother him or hex him and he can just exist as a regular, normal man for a little bit of the day.
The third scent is the future-focused, unconscious one that I've extrapolated on from Harry's experience in canon. As I've tried to have come across in this story, I think both Hermione and Draco had a lot more in common and would have got on quite well but for their different backgrounds. I think the potion, to me, has a built in mechanism for POTENTIAL as opposed to outright future-telling. Hermione in his library is Draco's potential happiness, should he be willing to make certain choices and decisions in his life.
Happy to break down Hermione’s as well, but she does her own self-analysis at the end of Chapter 29.
Thank you for coming to my Amortentia TED talk, and hopefully that made sense!

I’ve never written trans characters before, and although I did research beforehand, if there is anything I got wrong or if I have written anything disrespectful, let me know and I will change it. Thank you to Shahar and Solana from the Drarry Discord that did a sensitivity read over this, and @pineau-noir for the beta!! thank you all!
2680 words. Professor drarry, coming out, getting together & established relationship, smitten Harry
Also: brief misgendering (not maliciously, toward the beginning), off-screen transphobic comment (toward the end, it is not explicitly written out), discussion of pregnancy.

Draco decided to come out because he dreamt of his mother.
It was on his thirty-fifth birthday, when he had gone out to Hogsmeade with Harry, Pansy, Greg and Granger the night before and drank themself silly. Weasley had moaned and cried about wanting to come but it was his turn to babysit. Draco had gotten so pissed that Harry had to carry him all the way back to Hogwarts and shushed him constantly when they got to the professor’s quarters because Draco had really wanted sing All About That Bass. Harry had to help him to bed and Draco had begged Harry to make him a cup of hot chocolate
That night he dreamt, as he was wont to do after drinking bottle after bottle of whiskey and falling asleep in that too warm state of being under layers of blankets and a belly full of hot drinks. He dreamt of the memory of sitting beside her bed moments before she died, trying to work up the courage to tell her; almost ran out the door to where Harry was waiting, and asked him for tips on how to be a brave person. But before he could come to any decision, his mother sighed, “I love you, my sweet, brave girl.” And the next moment, Draco had lost his chance.
He woke up, ten years later, wishing desperately again he could have told his mother.
Draco told Harry his decision the same day of the dream. Harry sat in the plush armchair in Draco’s room, watched Draco pace about with a cup of piping hot tea cradled in his hands. He listened intently to Draco going on and on, “I just woke up this morning, and I knew I was ready. I mean—okay, even if I am, how will I go about it? Write a public letter? An announcement during breakfast in the Great Hall? No, no, that’s the showman in me talking. Ah—should I ask for the Headmistress’s permission? I—”
Harry only cut him off then. “You shouldn’t have to,” he said. “You can just inform her, if you want.”
Draco softened. Blushed. “Yes,” he said. “Yes, you’re right.” He went and sat down on the other armchair, Harry’s eyes followed him with a fond smile.
“How about in class?” Draco asked.
“That certainly is when you are the most confident.” Harry smiled at him. “I think it’s a great idea.”
“You’re not going to talk me out of it?”
“I would never do that,” Harry said. “But can I ask why now?”
“‘May I ask’,” Draco corrected.
Harry gave him a look. Draco laughed before talking. “I’m ready. I want to stop hiding. I want to talk about my experience. I want to come out on my own terms, and I don’t want to leave any regret. Merlin, do you remember after the war, the amount of therapy we all did? It wasn’t until years later did I feel like I was healed enough from the war to talk about my gender identity with a professional. We had talked about coming out, or transitioning, and I had said I would like to come out when I’m happy again.”
Harry listened with a happy smile on his face. “You’re happy now,” he said.
Draco reached over and tucked a stray hair behind Harry’s ear. “I was scared of coming out when I told her that, that’s why I said I would only do it when I’m happy again. I had thought I would never be happy again.” He left his hand on Harry’s face. “I’ve been happy for a while now. I’ve been so comfortable with happy, that I needed my mother’s death to remind me at one point, I wasn’t.”
“It sucks that it took so long.”
“It took longer for you,” Draco murmured. Harry just smiled and pressed a kiss to Draco’s palm.
They allowed the comfortable silence to go on for a bit, but soon Draco started to fidget. “I know I’m hiding it incredibly well, but I am a bit frightened.”
Harry didn’t say, “You don’t have to do it right now if you’re not ready.” Because of course that went without saying. Though he did say, “I’ll be with you through it all.”
Ah, but that was stupid too, because that also went without saying in Draco’s opinion. Harry had always been there for him, throughout the years of teaching apprenticeship in Hogwarts and through studying for their Magical Academic Skills for Educators and through their first classes as professors. Harry was the first person he came out to after his friends in Eighth Year. So, Harry needn’t say he would be with Draco through everything! It was a given—Draco wanted to accuse Harry of saying it just to see Draco blush.
In the end, Draco just muttered a lame, “Thank you.”
Then all too soon, Harry had to leave for his first class, and he lingered by Draco’s door. “Do you want to take dinner with me in my room? Or your room? Or just, somewhere without a whole school worth of children?”
Draco knew he was wearing a dopey and besotted grin on his face, but this relationship was new, and he had daydreamed about it for years. As suave and gentlemanly as he had imagined himself in his head, sweeping Harry off his feet with charm, he really couldn’t bring himself to pretend he wasn’t stupidly happy.
“That sounds lovely,” he said. And a grin broke out on Harry’s flushed face too. Draco couldn’t help but press a kiss to Harry’s cheek before sending him on his way.
Draco loved how shy and eager Harry was about this. With sixteen years of friendship under their belt, when Harry asked Draco out a month ago. Harry had been tripping over every word, and it had taken Draco nearly five minutes to figure out Harry was asking him out.
“Oh,” Draco had said. He had been standing by his door, seeing Harry off like they do almost every night. “Oh!”
Harry had flushed down to his neck.
“Yes,” Draco had replied in a hurry. “Oh my god—yes.”
“Yeah?”
Draco had nodded, willing his face to stay calm.
“Cool,” Harry had said. Another word choice he picked up from the students. “I’ll—er, I’ll pick you up tomorrow at seven, then?”
“Okay.”
Draco had decided he would stay and watch Harry go, and it was rewarded with Harry stopping every two steps to turn around and look at Draco until he reached the staircase. Draco had listened to Harry’s footsteps fading down the stairs and grinned at nothing. And he had laughed when he heard Harry’s jubilant shout from afar.
Draco also remembered how later that night, as he finally stumbled back to bed, how he lay there for hours, indulging himself on playing out being Harry’s boyfriend—and berated himself for acting like a teenager. Not that it stopped Draco from doing it.
When Draco’s daydream entered the “Marriage” chapter, he remembered how Harry always wanted children, and that was like falling into a pit of icy water. Draco tried to shake himself off the tightness, tried to stop himself from imagining his body becoming a reminder of a gender he long left in the past. Draco tried to stifle the nausea.
He could very well just forget about it. They hadn’t even been on their first date yet. Children seemed so far into the future. But the nagging feeling wouldn’t leave Draco alone. What if it was a deal-breaker for Harry? Draco had loved Harry for so long, he wasn’t sure he wanted to go through a heartbreak Draco knew could be potentially ruining.
At half-past one, Draco climbed out of his cocoon of blankets and trekked to Harry’s room a few floors below. Harry opened the door in his pajamas and messy hair. “Why aren’t you asleep yet?” Draco said, and wanted to jump off the castle right after the words left his mouth.
The incredulous look on Harry’s face was deserving, Draco supposed. “Is something wrong?” Harry asked, pulling Draco into his warm room.
Draco swallowed. “Do you expect me to carry your child, if this goes somewhere?”
A few seconds went by and Harry remained gaping at Draco.
“I know some people do it,” Draco continued on. “I know they’re okay with it. But not—not me. I don’t know if I’ll ever go through a transition. Oh, you know that, yes, I forgot I told you that before. I’m happy with myself, but if that means you’ll expect me to carry our children—I can’t. I’m sorry.”
“What is going on?” Harry seemed to be talking to himself. “You do not need to apologize for that! And I—Jesus, are we talking about children? I mean, I’ve thought about it, because I’ve been in lo—ngk, I mean, I always wanted kids—Yes, I know you know! But I never thought about that, Draco. I know you don’t want to. I would never ask that of you!” He sounded distressed.
They were both panting. “Good,” Draco said. “I just want us to be on the same page.”
“I always wanted to adopt,” Harry said.
“Oh.” Draco looked to the floor. “You never said.”
“I would’ve told you someday.”
“Is today someday?”
“It can be.” Harry smiled softly at Draco, who was now feeling very flustered from being reckless and Gryffindor-like and barging in to demand answers in the middle of the night.
“I guess it makes sense,” Draco said. “That you would want to love a child that needs it. Ah, is that insensitive of me to say?”
Harry dragged him into a crushing hug.
***
It took Draco a few days to gather up enough courage. In the end he chose the second-year Hufflepuff/Ravenclaw class as his first step. While everyone had finished setting up their cauldrons and tools, Draco cleared his throat.
“I need to tell you all something.”
***
The second-years took the news with wide-eyed exhilaration, shouting encouragement and cheers to the point Draco couldn’t hear his own voice anymore. “That’s why I picked them to go first,” Draco told Harry after class, when he came over to ask how it went. “They’re a bunch of sweethearts and I need the ego-boost.” Harry laughed and kissed him.
The seventh-year Slytherin/Gryffindor class was rougher. Some students recoiled, and some of those students looked shamefaced at their own reactions, which made Draco feel better (however slight.) He was more solemn during his speech. When some Gryffindor boys started murmuring, a few Slytherin students glared at them hard enough to shut them up. Draco had to smile a bit at that.
“May we ask some questions, sir?” A Slytherin student asked.
“Go ahead, Miss Jeffers.”
“Do you see yourself as gay, then?”
“I’ve always been attracted to men,” Draco answered calmly. “And as a man, I identify myself as gay.”
Another student raised their hand. “Was your name always Draco?”
“Yes. My mother picked it, and she had always intended to use it on a boy or a girl.”
“Did you dress differently when you were young, before—er, you know.”
Draco raised an eyebrow at the student and he blushed sheepishly.
“A good thing about wizarding fashion is that robes all generally looked the same for both male and female. I was lucky enough to not experience the hardship Muggle transgender community might face growing up.”
When no more hands were left up in the air, Draco could see it wasn’t the end of confusion for some students. But there was no use to push. Draco smiled at his class, “I’m not any more different than I was before today. You just know more about who I am now. You’ll find that, despite this new knowledge, I am still exactly the same. For example,” Draco tapped his wand and papers appeared in front of each student. “I still like to surprise you with a pop quiz.”
The groans were music to Draco’s ears.
***
The news spread to the whole school by the next day, and breakfast was an anxious ordeal. Draco had made the decision to eat in the Great Hall. Harry’s continuous presence was warm and steady next to him. Harry knew how to deal with being in the spotlight of gossip, and he pulled out all stops to distract Draco from it (i.e., some very heavy making out in the hallway outside of Draco’s room, certainly far too inappropriate at seven o’clock in the morning on a school day). Draco had been preparing for it to happen, but he was still caught off guard when it came.
When it came, Draco had been walking by himself to his next class. He turned around slowly to see who had made the remark. The student didn’t try to hide. He was standing right behind Draco. Everyone around stopped in their tracks, from what the boy had said or to see what would happen, Draco didn’t know.
The boy sneered at Draco. His friend looked very surprised and appalled. “10 points from Gryffindor,” Draco said. He focused on the disappointment he felt, and not all the other awful feelings that were churning at the base of his throat.
“100 points from Gryffindor,” someone said from behind. McGonagall strode past Draco and glared down at him. “Plus one-week detention with me, for your ignorance and malice, Mr. Anderson. You should know better. There are transgender students here, and I will not allow this kind of behavior in my school.”
Out of nowhere, Harry appeared next to Draco. “And Mr. Anderson will see me after class today,” he said. “As head of house, I apologize for my student’s behavior, Professor Malfoy.”
Draco nodded, throat thick. Students were gathering around them, but they were looking at Anderson, whose face took on a sickly tinge at the prospect of detention with both the Headmistress and the Boy Who Lived.
“Go to your class, now,” McGonagall said tersely. Anderson scampered off, his friend following. McGonagall turned her gaze onto the students mulling around, who all jumped and started to move.
“I am sorry, Draco,” McGonagall said when all students cleared out.
“I’m alright, Headmistress.”
“I’ll walk with him,” Harry said, taking Draco’s hand. And McGonagall’s smile showed that she would let this PDA slide just this once.
“I don’t nee—” Draco started.
“I’m not walking you to your classroom because I think you need a bodyguard,” Harry said. “I’m walking with you to your classroom because I missed you.”
Draco hated how easily his mood was improved by that.
Just before parting, Draco squeezed Harry’s hand. “Harry,” Draco said, throat thick and heavy. Harry turned to him inquiringly.
“Educate him,” Draco said. He looked at Harry’s eyes. So honest and good. “Don’t punish him and let him walk away as ignorant before, Harry. Don’t do what our teachers did to us. Teach him.”
Harry cupped Draco’s face. “That was always the plan.”
Draco nodded. He blinked slowly, finally letting the tears fall. Letting them out. It didn’t take more than a few. Harry kissed away each drop, and Draco smiled through it.
“I’ll see you tonight?” Draco asked.
“Yes.” Harry looked delighted, as though they didn’t see each other every other night already.
Draco gave an amused chuckle. Harry’s gaze lingered on him until the classroom door closed.
***
Draco was just grading his last pile of homework when someone knocked on his office door. “Sir?”
Draco looked up from his grading. It was a third-year Gryffindor. Michael Genson, standing nervously by the door, eyes very wide. An expression so familiar, so mixed with trepidation and hope that for a second Draco thought he was looking at his 13-year-old self. “May I ask you some questions?” Michael said.
Draco put down his quill and moved his grading aside. “Of course,” he smiled. “Tea?”
Michael nodded, sitting down gingerly. Draco gave him a comforting smile and Summoned his best tea leaves.
Hopefully by the end of the chat, Draco could be fortunate enough to find out who Michael truly was.

Dramione | Marriage Law AU Raiting: T
So this is my first attempt at writing a Dramione fic. Is a One Shot that you can also find here: https://archiveofourown.org/works/26831194
~
Draco Malfoy was a lucky man.
Seven years ago, he had avoided going to Azkaban; he had been able to clean his family name by donating obscene amounts of money to several charities; he’d gotten a very decent job at the Ministry as a Senior Auror and, as if he deserved it, had a circle of close friends, many of them he could even call family.
But, damn, he was going to need something more than sheer luck to get out of this mess free or even alive.
“I’m not entirely sure this is OK, Weasley,” he half whispered, half shouted while looking at both ways of the empty street with an anxious look on his face while his former enemy and now also Auror partner, worked on removing the wards of the house that belonged to none other than Hermione Granger.
“I told you, Malfoy,” said Ron, dragging his words. “She showed me how to enter her house in case of an emergency. Just a few more spells and we’ll be able to get in.”
The plan that both of them had come up with just an hour ago at the Leaky Cauldron was just to go to her house and talk to her. It made sense at the time but now Draco was sobering up and suddenly it didn’t seem like a good idea so much as breaking and entering.
“Are you sure she is home?” he insisted. “We’ve been pounding at her door for ages.”
“Believe me, she’s a heavy sleeper.”
That made Draco’s insides cringe a little bit. He didn’t like thinking about how Weasley knew such intimate information. Not like he was jealous or anything, the former Slytherin was just pointing out that he himself didn’t know that.
He heard a click and the door finally swung open. Ron ushered him inside and followed him into the sitting room. It was very early in the morning so it was still a little dark inside. The place still looked the same as he remembered from the previous time he had been invited over for drinks when the gang was celebrating something he couldn’t ever care about now.
His red haired partner went upstairs to look for the witch but came back without her.
“She’s not home.”
Yep. Breaking and entering. Good bye, freedom.
“I guess we'll just have to sit here and wait for her,” the former Gryffindor announced, plummeting on the couch.
“Are you mental?”
But before he got an answer, the front door was opened and he heard a scream coming from behind him.
“What part of for emergencies was so difficult for you to understand, Ronald?!” Hermione was yelling at both wizards who were now sitting on the couch while she was pacing from right to left in front of them. “Do you have any idea how long it takes me to set up wards like this?!”
None of them answered. The room was fully lighted now and there was a lingering smell of Pepperup Potion in the air.
“I could have seriously injured you, you fools!” Hermione kept on lecturing them. Ron had his head down, looking ashamed at the floor but Draco could not look away from the sight in front of him.
Dear Salazar, what is she wearing?
His mental question was rhetorical. Draco was no longer a stranger to Muggle culture, in fact he prided himself on how much he’d learned over the past few years. Hermione had been actually the main source of help as she was now the owner of a company that fussed magic with Muggle technology in a safe and convenient way and said company also provided training and seminars to educate magical beings on how to use appliances, electronics and others.
Besides attending all of the lectures, he had also expanded his knowledge by asking Hermione for more sources on different Muggle topics and he remembered reading about sports and exercise. Still, one thing was looking at pictures of random strangers in textbooks and a very different thing was to have the Gryffindor princess model the outfit.
She was wearing high waisted leggings that went from under her belly button to the skin above her ankles, and was it called a sports bra? Whatever it was, it left her flat belly totally exposed and Merlin! he was being hypnotized by the swing of her hips and the drops of sweet that ran down her neck to her chest and disappeared inside her small top. Even though she was mostly covered, that outfit left little to the imagination, in his opinion.
She’d explained she had gone running very early in the morning, something that perhaps she’d happened to mention she usually did but the two brilliant Aurors, in the state they were, couldn’t have possibly remembered.
When she finally calmed down and the Pepperup Potion kicked in, the men were able to express their apologies which she begrudgingly accepted.
“Anyway, why are you here?” her tone was softer, but she had her arms crossed in front of her.
“Remember when I told you I would keep you informed about the Marriage Law?” Ron asked.
Ah.
Malfoy had almost forgotten the reason he was there in the first place.
Five years after the war was over, the Ministry of Magic came to the realization that the wizarding population in the country had alarmingly decreased. Furthermore, the expected “Baby Boom” didn’t pan out because of a large adoption campaign -founded principally by the only Malfoy heir- to help children who became orphans after the war get a home.
Two years ago, the Ministry announced that now witches and wizards of marriageable age had a year and a half to find a suitor or suitress to marry, otherwise the Ministry would assign one based on the results of an old ritual that conjured ‘core matching magic’ and ‘soulmate bonding’ in addition to several compatibility tests that they were all ask to fill -some even under Veritaserum.
“Why? Did you find out who I was paired with?” She took a seat on the armchair in front of them. “Is it someone bad?”
“Yes, it’s bad, ‘Mione,” her best friend answered quickly.
Fucking Weasley. Aren’t we supposed to be friends now?
Draco had indeed developed a strong friendship with Ron Weasley and subsequently with Harry Potter and Hermione Granger -they were a package deal apparently-. Although the last two he didn’t see that often, with Granger he regularly engaged in pleasant conversations about the recent creations of her company, his most interesting cases as an Auror; also literature, music and films (Muggle and otherwise); their interests and, well, many things.
She was a very interesting woman and, in the recent past, he had admitted to himself that they had a lot in common and it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if someday they went out to dinner together, just the two of them, as in a date. Still, he had never thought that they would be a perfect match, according to the experts at the Ministry. The highest one on the list by far.
After the initial shock had worn out, he’d felt elated. His co-workers had even patted him on the back as if this was his highest accomplishment. Hermione Granger, The Brightest Witch of Her Age, was his match. His soulmate. He was floating.
When the high that this information gave him ended, he started questioning if he really deserved it. In his mind, they were perfect for each other. After all opposites attract, right?
She was a Gryffindor; he was a Slytherin.
She was Muggle-born; he was a Pureblood.
She was a member of The Order of the Phoenix; he was a Death Eater.
Ugh.
She was smart, beautiful, kind, honest, generous, brave; he was…
Guilt had been eating him all day. Maybe they were not a good match after all. Red and green didn’t go well together, right?
That’s how he ended drinking with Ron.
“Well? Who is it?” her apathy had now changed into wariness.
“I can’t tell you. All ministry workers signed up a non-disclosure agreement and until the owls are sent to the respective witches and wizards, we can’t say, write, point, mimic, spell-”
“For fuck’s sake, Ron!” she interrupted and stood up again, her arms akimbo her hips. “Why the hell did you bother coming here if you can’t even tell me?!”
At this, Weasley smirked, “Luckily for you, ‘Mione, we found a loophole,” he said smugly and pointed to himself and Draco even when it had been the blond Slytherin’s idea at the pub. “If you guess the name of this person, I could nod or shake my head without breaking the contract.”
That seemed to somewhat relax her.
“OK, so, I’m guessing is someone we know, must be single, and the age…” she muttered more to herself biting her lip. “And you said it’s bad? Does he work at the ministry?” She looked at the red head for confirmation and he nodded at both questions.
“Oh, no.”
Here we come.
“Is it McLaggen?”
Weasley shook his head.
“Is it Smith from finance?”
Another head shake.
“Parry?”
No.
“Hodgson?”
No.
“Mullins?”
No.
“The one that works in the same office as your father?”
Every name was followed by a head shake and Draco was elated to know he didn’t even make the list.
“Oh, no,” her eyes opened wide and now Draco was sure he was about to hear his own name. “Is it you?” but she was still looking at Weasley.
“Oi!” Weasley countered. “You’d be lucky if that were the case!”
At this Hermione rolled her eyes and left an exasperated scoff, “I don’t have time for this, I’m gonna be late for work.”
She dismiss them and disappeared upstairs.
Malfoy couldn’t fight the smile that crept up his lips.
Draco was waiting outside of Granger, Inc. in Diagon Alley. After he and Ron left her house, he went home and immediately owled the witch to ask if she would be available for lunch. When he got her reply accepting his invitation, he went to bed for a few hours, after all, he’d needed to regain his beauty sleep.
His head hurt a little and he was sure it wasn’t a hangover. Thoughts about how to best approach the subject swirled in his mind and thoughts about her reaction after she found out tormented him. However, he had come prepared to hear the worst and the best.
“I’m ready.” The witch had stepped out of her office, bringing him out of his stupor. He noticed she was no longer wearing sportswear. Instead she fashioned a velvet looking set of robes that went from a very dark purple at the bottom to a faded, light lilac at the top. Her hair was pulled back in a low ponytail.
Apparently leggings were not necessary for him to go into a trance. When the person was Hermione Granger it didn’t matter what she was wearing. That morning she had looked sexy and provocative and now she, only a few hours later, was the picture of elegance and professionalism and he liked both looks the most.
When he came back to his senses he cleared his throat, “Shall we?” he asked and they walked together towards a close restaurant where they had met in the past with some of their friends.
After ordering their drinks and meals, the gray eyed man thought he should just rip off the band aid.
“I wanted to apologize,” he began. “For the incident this morning. Weasley and I shouldn’t have gotten that drunk and acted so stupidly.”
“Don’t worry about it,” she shrugged. “I was mostly mad at Ron for messing with my wards, I can tell the whole thing was his idea.” At this, the waiter came back with their drinks and put them on the table.
“So, did you want to talk to me about something or is this just an ‘apology lunch’?” she inquired with a playful tone and then took a sip of her beverage, never taking her eyes off him.
He was about to answer when he noticed the intentional look she was giving him and her raised eyebrow.
“You know?” he ventured.
“I’m not sure if I know,” she corrected. “I thought you just happened to be with Ron when he concocted his stupid plan this morning,” she mused. “But then after I got your owl, I thought that maybe it was you he was referring to.”
He nodded to answer her implied question and automatically felt the binding lifting from him. Now that she knew, he was free to talk.
“Why were you in such an urgent state to let me know?” she inquired.
“Weasley said you weren’t going to be happy with the news and he thought it was best to warn you as soon as possible,” he explained. “He said you would come up with a way to avoid the match and get a different guy.”
“I probably could,” she offered and he knew she was so popular and well-connected in the Ministry that even if she couldn’t get herself out of the whole program, it would take no more than an owl asking them to change her match for them to go ahead and do it. “Is that what you want?”
No.
Was this the best case scenario? Of course not. He would have liked to ask her out on proper dates, build up a relationship and eventually take things to a more serious level. He could easily see them becoming more than just boyfriend and girlfriend. So far, he already liked everything about her. He had dived inside her mind several times to know that.
Not to mention that she got more beautiful by the day, and no, the glimpse of what her body looked like under the robes had nothing to do with it.
OK, maybe a little. It was a perk.
Anyways, the witch was waiting for a response. Should he just take the plunge or listen to the Ron Weasley inside his head, telling him he was a bad choice for her?
“I know it is not ideal,” he answered. “I mean, to start a relationship with what is basically a forced marriage in which we are expected to wait only a year before we start having children. Not even pureblood arrangements work that way.
“It is not fair for either of us,” at that moment the waiter interrupted him by bringing their plates.
Granger had kept quiet so far and just fixed him with a look that conveyed nothing. He’d learned that when she wanted, her face became unreadable, but he was not to be discouraged.
He took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
“I would hate to not be the one who marries you,” he dared to say and was pleased to see her cheeks become red. “If we were to do this my way, believe me that I would have courted you the right way. I swear I thought about asking you out many times in the last couple of years and now I feel like a complete idiot for not working up the courage to do it.
“If you do me the honor of letting me be your husband,” he offered. “I vow to never take you for granted. We will take things slow. As slow as you want. I don’t want this marriage law to get in the way of dating you properly.
“And you have my word that, if at any point you want out, you’ll be free to do it. I wouldn’t stop you,” he promised.
She blinked a few times before she reached her hand across the table and put it on top of his.
“I’d like that,” she answered, her honeyed eyes full of sincerity. “To date you, that is. I’ve also entertained the thought of asking you out a few times,” she admitted blushing even redder. “If in order to date we have to get married, then so be it.”
He let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding and couldn’t stop the grin on his face. He turned his hand upwards to intertwine their fingers together and then brought her hand to his mouth at the same time he leaned in to plant a kiss on her knuckles. The electrifying feeling of her soft hand was going to be carved in his memory forever.
“Thank you, Granger,” he murmured.
After they finished their lunches he was now walking her back to her office while holding hands. They were met with multiple stares and gasps along Diagon Alley but he didn’t mind one bit and she even made it seem as if she was oblivious to that.
“So we’re dating now,” she stated, looking up to meet his eyes.
“Yes.” He found that just thinking about it made his face feel warm, but not intending to hide it, he looked back at her with what he hoped was a sincere smile.
They entered the building that was her business and Draco could see several heads turning to look at them.
“Can we talk for a minute in your office?” he asked her and she agreed.
Once the door was closed and locked he got close to her and took both her hands in his.
“I know it seems like we are not given much of a choice about this, but,” he said feeling his hands getting sweaty with nerves. “In the off chance that you don’t realize along the way, that you are way out of my league and decide to leave me, I want to ask you the right way so we’ll be able to remember this moment forever.”
Draco pulled out a small box from inside his robes and opened it in front of her. He heard her curse a ‘holy shit’ under her breath at the sight of the red and green tear-shaped tourmaline ring. Turns out that red and green did go well together.
He locked his eyes with hers and she gave him a small nervous smile, “Everything I know about you I already like and it would make me the happiest wizard if you let me learn more. I want to discuss not only academia and the news but also learn about your dreams and fears; I yearn to know how you take your tea in the morning and if you have a preferred side of the bed at night. I long for the happy moments, the new adventures, the memories we will create together and even the fights and arguments. I promise I will try my best to make you happy for as long as you have me.” He got down on one knee.
“Hermione Jean Granger,” he intoned. “Will you marry me?”
The witch’s face was soaked with tears but her smile had gotten wider the more she listened to him.
“Yes,” she croaked, closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She extended her hand in front of her.
The wizard happily took it and slipped the ring onto her finger. He then stood up and felt Granger’s soft fingers over his own cheeks.
He hadn’t realized he had been crying too.
“So, we’re really dating now,” she echoed her words from before, moving closer to him and resting her hands on his shoulders.
“Yes,” he smiled and closed the gap between them, his fingers going up and down her back. “But we’re also engaged.”
“We’re moving so fast,” she whispered a fake protest, her face only inches from his.
He hummed in agreement, his eyes were close now.
“And yet,” their noses touched, her voice barely audible. “We haven’t even kissed. That’s not fair, is it?”
He couldn’t resist anymore. He pulled her closer -if that was even possible- and pressed his lips against hers. She was ready for him and quickly returned the kiss.
Her lips were the softest and her taste was oh so sweet.
What started as slow and tender quickly became heated and passionate. It was new and exciting and yet so familiar. Their lips and tongues moved in a dance as old as time and when they finally stopped for air he opened his eyes to find her staring at him with a warm smile and even warmer eyes.
She never looked so beautiful.
Draco Malfoy was indeed a lucky man.

The-Family-Who-Lived AU
Fandom: Harry Potter
Pairing: James x Lily, Harry x Hermione
A/N: I already know I have sooooo many works I'm suppose to get out, but this is just stuck in my head and I can't get it out. So enjoy my first contribution to HP fandom
Voldemort was dead
He was finally gone
James sat heavily on his chair in Pottor Manor cradling his wife and son in his arms thinking of what happened earlier that night
The attack on his family
The obvious betrayal by his friend Peter who now was on his way to Azkaban
James didn't know what saved them from Vodemort or what killed him, but he was grateful
All he remembered was facing off against that evil man in his son's nursery. Begging him to spare Lily and Harry's lives
He saw the spell being cast he heard the words cross Voldemort's lips, but they didn't die
Everything was a blur after that
Them leaving the destroyed house
Seeing Hagrid arrive, telling him to send word to Dumbledore about what happen
Sirius and him capturing Peter and Sirius taking him in
Apporating away from the scene as reporters began spilling in promising answers in the morning
Lily shifted in his arms breaking him from his thoughts
Lily: What do we do now?
James: We treasure the gift we've been given
And that's what they did
James used his position as both and Aurora and the Head of a powerful and Ancient house to make sure every Death Eater that was brought before him faced justice
And when the Minstery refused to put away rich men who turned out to be Death Eaters he would use his title as a member of the Family-Who-Lived to remind people what could happen if they let these men walk
James helped put away men like Peter Pettigrew, Luscious Malfory, Barty Crouch Jr., and Severous Snape, so that his son could have a better and safer future
Soon James was promoted to Head Aurora for all his work against Death Eaters and keeping people safe
But he had a feeling him being a member of the Family-Who-Lived also played a part in thay
As Harry grew older and started to attend primary school (Lily insisted) Lily accepted the job as the Ancient Runes and Muggle Studies professor at Hogwarts
At first a lot of the students were nervous around her, she was a member of the Family-Who-Lived, which meant she had to be a very powerful witch and very tough to help defeat He Who Must Not Be Named
As the students walked into the room they were expecting a very stern woman who wouldn't put up with anything
But soon she was able to disprove their expectations with her kindness and patience
Soon she was known as the cool professor throughout all the houses
When they entered her classroom she didn't care about the colors they wore, where they came from, or what their blood status was
They were her students first everything else second
She loved her job, she even started a couple of clubs for the muggleborns and halfbloods to help them keep connected to their roots in the muggle world, with some curious purebloods joining the clubs as well
Such as a muggle sports club with Madame Hooch were they would play sports like football and rugby
Lily would also smuggle in muggle shows using magic, the most popular one being Doctor Who
She showed an episode in class once and got a lot of the purebloods obsessed with it
Now she plays episodes in her classroom every Tuesday and Thursday during lunch
But no matter how busy they got in their professional lives Lily and James always made sure to put their family first
They made sure they were there for dinner every nigh and they would switch off who would pick Harry up from school with Remus and Sirus picking Harry up when neither could
The two men practically lived at Potter Manor with the family the only sleeping in their own apartments when they had a date (Sirius) or if it was close to the full moon (Remus)
With them being known as the Family-Who-Lived James and Lily was careful to not exposed Harry too much to the wizarding world
They didn't want him growing up in the lime light with constant scrutiny from others
Because of this they were very careful with who they let Harry interact with
The first family was of course the one of Harry's godmother the Longbottoms Alice, Frank, and Neville
The Second Family was the Weasleys who did everything they could to help during the war
The third was of course Sirius' favorite cousin Andy and her husband Ted with their little girl in tow who soon became the leader of the children when she was home from Hogwarts
The fourth family surprised a lot of people because it was the Malfoy family.
After Lucious went to Azkaban, Narcissa reconnected with her estranged sister Andy, begging for forgiveness and to start over
Andy of course welcomed her sister back into her life with open arms and vouch for her with the Potters
The boys from each family seem to take to each other almost immediately
And much to James' glee and Lily's annoyance Harry seemed to inherent James' knack for causing trouble and dragging innocent boys down with him
Harry loved his family and his life
He got to play with his best friends Ron, Neville, and Draco almost everyday
His dad and uncles would tell him all sort of stories from their days in Hogwarts and the trouble they caused
His favorite was about how his dad first met his mom
Lily would always roll her eyes when James told that story making sure to give Harry her side of it
When Harry turned 11 and got his Hogwarts letter the Muaraders sat Harry, Ron, Neville, and Draco down and told them about the Muraders and officially passed the name down to the new group of boys, giving them the map and Harry the invincibility cloak
The group of boys made a promise with eachother that they would become animagis just like the original members
Lily overheard them and made them promise to let her know when they started the process so she can at least keep an eye on them in case something goes wrong
They also promised to stay friends no matter what house they were sorted into
September 1st came faster then expected and soon the Potter family (uncles included) were dropping Harry off on Platform 9¾
As they past through the barrier Harry told them he was going to look to see if his friends had arrived yet running off before any of the adults could tell him no
Lily *shaking her head*: That boy, I swear he's just like you, James.
James *laighing and wrapping his arms around Lily's waist*: He's much more like you my love with his brilliant mind and caring heart
Lily: Flattery will get you no where Potter. Can any of you see Harry or the Malfoys, Longbottoms, or Weasleys?
The men began to scan the crowd looking for the young Potter and his friends
Sirius*pointing in the opposite direction Harry went*: There are the Malfoys
James: And I can see Frank by the train
Remus *stifling laughter and pointing*: And I think I see history repeating itself
The other adults looked over to where Remus was pointing seeing that Remus was right
They could see Harry with a lovestruck look on his face as he talked to a young girl with wild brown hair and her obviously muggle parents
Sirius let out barking laughter as he watch little prongslet grab the girl and start dragging her over to them with her parents following the children, probably a bit worried about this strange boy taking their daughter away
Harry *dragging the girl over*: MUM! DAD! UNCLE PADFOOT! UNCLE MOONY! I want you guys to meet Hermione Granger!
James *trying to hide his laughter*: Hello Hermiome it's nice to meet you
Hermione *shyly*: Hello
The group of adults also introduced themselves to Hermione's parents as the two children continued to chat with eachother
Slowly the rest of the group started to join them with Harry introducing each boy to his new friend
Lily couldn't help but noticed that as Harry eagerly introduce Hermione to the other boys, he also had his arm wrapped around her the whole time not seeming to realize that he was doing it.
As the time came for the kids to board the train goodbyes were exchanged, hugs were shared, and tears were shed (James: They're not tears Lily! It's liquid bride!)
As the kids were about to board the train Harry turned to the Grangers wrapping his arm around Hermione's shoulders again
Harry: Don't worry about Hermione I'll take care of her
Hermione gets a bit of a sour expression on her face, turning to face Harry as his arm fell from her shoulders
Hermione: I am more than capable of taking care of myself
Harry's lovestruck expression returned
Harry: Of that I have no doubt
The two said their final goodbyes to the adults before boarding the train
The adults stayed on the platform watching as the Hogwarts Express drove out of sight
As the adult wave goodbye and the Granger's left the train station sighting the need to return to their dentistry practice and the other families left as well the Muraders burst into laughter
Lily*hitting James on the shoulder*: This is all your fault!
James *still laughing*: What?
Sirius: Don't be too hard on him Lily
Remus *shaking his head*: That poor girl has no idea what she just got drag into
James: Did you see her reaction to Harry's comment at the end? No, she isn't going to be drag into anything else so easily. She's a fighter I can tell
Lily: Well we'll just have to wait and see

Summary:
Somehow Harry ends up agreeing to a fake relationship with his ex-nemesis-turned-friendly-acquaintance-with-benefits, except for some reason it involves an awful lot of actual dating and, sadly, not much sex. Confused? Harry is too, but when has anything with Draco Malfoy ever been as straightforward as it seems?
Excerpt:
Draco’s hair tickled his nose, and then Draco mumbled sleepily into Harry’s neck and wriggled closer, flinging one leg over Harry’s and, oh. That was Draco’s cock. That was Draco’s very hard cock pressed right up against Harry’s hip, and Harry’s cock throbbed in response. And Harry had just kissed him, and now they were—
Before he could panic any further, Draco grumbled something unintelligible and turned his face into Harry’s chest and mouthed at the hollow at the base of his throat and rocked his hips, grinding against Harry.
He should wake Draco up, but if he woke Draco up then Draco would be embarrassed and things would be awkward, but if he let it go on longer then it would be worse, wouldn’t it? And also Harry really really liked what was happening.
“Draco,” Harry said, taking Draco by the shoulder and pushing at him. “Draco wake up.”
Draco responded by biting Harry’s collarbone. “M’awake, you arse,” he grumbled.
“Oh, you…” Harry trailed off as Draco tugged on him, pulling him onto his side so they were facing each other. Their hips lined up for a moment and Harry shivered as the hard ridge of Draco’s erection dragged over his own.
“C’mon,” Draco sighed, tangling his fingers in Harry’s hair and tugging him into place.
Harry obligingly kissed his way up the side of his neck until he reached the hinge of Draco’s jaw. He sucked at the little indent right below his ear and listened to Draco gasp, felt him shudder with pleasure against Harry. He breathed deep, the warm smell of skin and soap, laced with a faded edge of worn-off cologne, and a sudden burst of longing detonated in the depths of Harry’s chest. He sucked again before kissing at Draco’s jaw, then ducked his head and nosed at Draco’s cheek to get him to put his head up for a proper kiss. Draco murmured something that might’ve been Harry’s name and then their lips met, Draco’s mouth so soft and pliant, fitting perfectly against Harry’s for a moment before it fell open. Harry licked into Draco’s mouth and got about two seconds of warmth and sleep-sour breath and the slick side of Draco’s tongue against his own, and then Draco jerked back.
“Wait, wait,” Draco panted, shoved one hand under his pillow and groped around. He came up with his wand and jabbed Harry in the face with it.
“Ow, what the fuck,” Harry gasped as the spell burst on his tongue, leaving all the soft tissues of his mouth tingling sharply in an almost overwhelming rush of spearmint.
“Sorry,” Draco said before doing the same spell on himself and jamming his wand back under his pillow. “Now I can kiss you.”
“I didn’t mind—” Harry started.
“Well I do,” Draco said, then kissed him hard, and Harry found kissing him back to be a much better use of his time than arguing.
Because Draco was kissing him and Harry was sure that nothing in his entire life had ever felt this good, kissing Draco Malfoy while still warm and a little muzzy from sleep and oh god, Harry could’ve had a whole year of this, even though it wouldn’t have meant to him then what it did now. Draco’s mouth against his own was insistent and possessive as they kissed, and alarm bells began to ring in the back of Harry’s mind. This was such a bad idea. This was a tremendously bad idea. They shouldn’t be doing this, they’d agreed at the beginning of their fake relationship that sex wouldn’t be part of it. And it felt disingenuous, somehow, to be kissing Draco now that Harry had feelings for him, because Draco didn’t know that. As far as Draco knew, this was just kissing. And if they had sex, he’d think that it’d just be sex when to Harry, it was so much more. And he couldn’t, he couldn’t do this.
Harry broke the kiss, and turned his head away when Draco tried to recapture his mouth. “Malfoy, hey,” he said, and broke off in a soft grunt as Draco bit at his throat and then sucked hard. God, that almost certainly left a mark. “Hey,” he said again. “Wait, I thought you, I thought we…”
“Stop thinking about it,” Draco said, and kissed him again.
He slid one hand down Harry’s stomach and pressed his palm firmly over the hard ridge of Harry’s cock and gave it a little squeeze, and Harry’s brain promptly shorted out. He wriggled around enough to get his pajama bottoms tugged down enough because he wanted Draco’s hand on his cock without a layer of flannel in between them, and Draco kindly obliged him by helping. Harry couldn’t hold back a groan as Draco’s fingers closed around him and stroked.
“Like that, do you,” Draco murmured against his mouth.
“Yeah,” Harry breathed, and let himself get lost in it for another few tugs before he pushed at Draco’s pajama bottoms and got them down his thighs.
(•⚗৺⚗•)
Getting his hand on Draco’s cock again felt like coming home, the hard length nearly as familiar in his hand as his own, hot and a little damp against his palm. Draco whimpered when Harry took his hand away and broke the kiss just long enough to lick his hand. He took Draco’s cock in his fist again and rubbed his thumb over the head before giving it a little squeeze.
Draco exhaled shakily and his mouth went slack against Harry’s as he lost focus. Harry kept working him relentlessly in long, firm strokes, and barely a minute later Draco’s hand stuttered and stalled against Harry’s cock. And that was fine, Harry didn’t mind at all. Less distraction as he watched Draco. He’d squeezed his eyes shut tight, his brows drawn together, lips pink and wet from kissing and slightly parted as he let loose these wonderfully needy little gasps. Every so often he’d remember himself and give Harry’s cock a stroke or two, and Harry would sigh and kiss the corner of Draco’s mouth.
It didn’t take much longer for Draco to reach his climax. His breathing hitched and he pressed closer to Harry, and then he was coming, hips jerking, cock throbbing as he spilled slick and warm over Harry’s fist.
“You,” Draco sighed, mouthing drowsily at the tender underside of Harry’s chin, “are entirely too good at that.”
“Well, I do try,” Harry said. He began to withdraw his hand from beneath the covers, already pushing himself up on his elbow and looking around for something to wipe himself clean with.
Draco stopped him, taking his hand in his own and wiping as much of his come off onto his own fingers as he was able. Harry assumed Draco was trying to clean him up, but then Draco pushed his dirty hand back down under the blankets and gave Harry a wicked smirk.
“Oh,” Harry groaned as Draco’s slippery hand closed around his cock. “You filthy bastard.”
“You love it,” Draco murmured against his neck.
“Yeah, yeah,” Harry agreed. He’d have agreed to anything at this point.
“Mm,” Draco hummed, and gave his neck a sharp bite. “On your back, now.”
Harry obediently rolled onto his back, and Draco shuffled around under the blankets until he was kneeling between Harry’s thighs. He took his hand off Harry’s cock and Harry let out an embarrassing whine at the loss.
“Shh, I’ll get back to it,” Draco said, using his other hand to yank at Harry’s pajamas.
Harry helped him out, kicking free of them as Draco pulled, and then Draco scooted closer between Harry’s legs and went right back to stroking his cock. The sides of his thighs pressed against the sides of Harry’s arse, his flannel pajamas impossibly soft. Draco leaned down and pressed a kiss to Harry’s stomach and pushed one of his legs up.
“Give me a hand?” he asked.
Harry obediently hooked his hand behind his knees and pulled them up, spreading himself open, stomach jumping because he knew what was coming next. Sure enough, Draco sucked a finger into his mouth, cheeks hollowing as he sucked, getting it nice and wet. Harry exhaled a shaky breath and watched as Draco drew the finger back out with a wet pop and reached down between Harry’s legs.
The first touch of Draco’s finger made Harry’s hips jerk, and he breathed deep and even as Draco pushed inside, slow and steady. It burned, being forced open like this even with a single finger. Harry hadn’t had anything inside him since the last time Draco had touched him like this. He liked it well enough, but it didn’t really do much for him when he did it to himself, so he never bothered.
“Do you want another?” Draco asked, crooking his finger and rubbing over Harry’s prostate.
Harry had to take another breath and force his brain to focus before he could answer. “No, this is good. I’m… god, this is really good, just like this.”
Draco curled his finger and brushed a kiss against the side of Harry’s knee. “Let me know if you change your mind.”
Harry’s laugh came out as more of a breathless huff. “Not gonna last long enough for that.”
“Go on, then,” Draco said and kissed Harry’s knee again. “I’ve got you.”
And Harry did. He stopped thinking and lost himself in the feel of Draco’s hand on his cock, Draco’s finger stroking inside him, the warm press of Draco’s knees on either side of his hips. Harry rolled his head to the side, and the tip of his nose brushed against the cool pillowcase of Draco’s pillow, and it smelled like him. He felt himself begin to go tight, his balls drawing up, his body clenching around Draco, and all of a sudden his release was looming ahead of him, eager and inevitable all at once.
The way it was building, Harry expected his orgasm to be a violent, explosive sort of thing, an overwhelming rush of pleasure that blasted through him like a bolt of lightning. Instead, it built and built, higher and tighter, but then instead of a sudden drop, it felt more like a gentle nudge over the edge, a small sweet step from nearly there to oh god yes.
Harry curled in on himself as it washed over him, his fingers tightening around the backs of his knees, and Draco stroked him through it as he came in long pulses over his own stomach. Draco let him go as Harry sagged back against the bed, his legs slipping out of his grasp and flopping open around Draco. Everything felt slow and warm, and Harry couldn’t remember the last time he’d felt this wonderful as Draco clambered half-over him to get at his wand, and leaned in to steal a quick kiss before he set about cleaning them both up.
The chilly tingle of Cleaning Charms sweeping over his skin yanked Harry abruptly back to reality. Because, oh god, he’d just had sex with Draco. Avoiding Draco’s eyes, Harry shuffled back and sat up, untangled himself from the rumpled bedsheets and slipped off the bed. He snatched up his pajama bottoms and yanked them back on as quickly as he could.
“Potter?” Draco asked. He sounded unsure, like he thought Harry might be upset with him. It unsettled Harry even more than he already was, because Draco Malfoy never sounded unsure about anything.
“This can’t happen again,” Harry said. His chest hurt. His stomach felt like it’d tied itself in a knot. The warm afterglow of his orgasm had vanished entirely, leaving a sick ache in its place, the last remaining haze of sweet lassitude souring to lethargy. He shoved a hand through his hair. “We shouldn’t have.”
“Oh,” said Draco softly, his voice barely loud enough to carry over the rustle of sheets as he sat up. “I’m sorry, I thought you wanted…”
“I did,” Harry said quickly, because he very much had wanted it. “But when we started this, you said you didn’t want sex to be part of it. I should have respected that.”
Harry turned to go, and then stumbled forward as a pillow slammed into the back of his head. He spun round, just in time for Draco to swing at him a second time and catch him square across the face.
“That’s for being an idiot,” Draco spat. “As if you could make me do a single bloody thing I didn’t want to do.”
Harry wrenched the pillow from Draco’s hand and hit him so hard with it he knocked him sideways, and yeah, it was much more satisfying from this end. Draco caught himself with a hand against the mattress, and Harry tossed the pillow onto the other side of the bed before Draco could steal it back.
“Yeah, well, you’re an idiot too, then. We’re both idiots, happy? It was nobody’s fault, and it won’t happen again,” Harry said and turned away, grabbed his jeans from last night off the floor and a clean pair of pants and jumper from his dresser. “I’m going to shower.”
With the bathroom door between him and the rest of the world, Harry let out a long, juddering sigh and slumped against the counter. His reflection in the mirror showed him pink-cheeked with his hair even more of a wreck than usual. Draco had left a livid lovebite on his neck.
“Ugh,” said Harry, rolling his eyes at himself.
