Something weird was happening to Draco. It wasn’t something Harry was used to being concerned about. He’d spent most of sixth year sure that Draco was up to something, yes, but this was different. This was – something was off. Wrong. Harry had never in his life been scared of Draco. And yet, something about him had changed enough to make the hair rise on the back of Harry’s neck every time he entered a room. The feeling was only made stranger by the rush of arousal that usually came along with it.

He’s fit, he won’t go to the papers, and he’ll be fine with Harry’s ‘no emotional attachment’ plan. Surely nothing could go wrong there.

Draco could hear the sound of scuttling all around him, the darkness and shadows advancing towards him as the furry caress to his neck became pincer like. With a yell he started casting spells around him, flashes of green and red streaking from his wand as he put a hand to his face, not sure what was surrounding him but knowing there were insects, hundreds if not thousands of them on the floor, the ground underneath him moving with the little bodies crawling over his feet and beginning to move up his body, sharp teeth sinking into his flesh through his clothes. He closed his eyes with a moan, his spells faltering as the insects began to swarm up his body and whatever was behind him moved closer, so he could feel warmth against his body and the long, furry touch wrapping around his neck. Draco was about to spin around and fight, fight for himself and for Potter, when a horrible-looking beast, huge and lumbering advanced out of the trees towards Draco, its teeth bared and snarling as it ran straight towards him. As it advanced, the thing around his neck seemed to disappear with a scuttling sound and the insects around his feet and over his body scuttled away, a sea of black parting to reveal the forest floor as Draco quickly gathered himself and with a crack, Apparated to another spot in the forest. Shaking, his entire body trembling and shaking from his experiences, Draco finally collapsed onto the ground, as he tried to steady his breathing. “For fuck’s sake, Harry…where the hell are you?” His voice sounded cracked and desperate in the dark woods as he put his head in his hands and let his silent tears of fear and relief fall.

Malfoy licked his lips. They were pink and thin but not chapped. In fact they looked quite soft. Harry stared for entirely too long, lost in his own thoughts.

“Do you want to get out of here?”

“What?”

Malfoy looked him straight in the eyes. “Do you want to leave with me?”

Harry shuddered. It almost sounded as if Malfoy was propositioning him. “Um. Err. What about Hermione?”

“The party is over, Potter. I’m sure Granger’s about two seconds away from plunging face-first into her gigantic glass of wine.”

“Well …”

Malfoy was still looking at him, not shying away. He seemed determined. “Let’s get out of here. Come on.” He grabbed Harry’s hand.

A few minutes later, they stood in Malfoy’s flat overlooking the Thames. The city glittered below them.

“Would you like a drink?” Malfoy asked, shadows overtaking him.

“Yes.”

Malfoy made them refreshing brambles with blackberry liqueur. Harry was halfway through his drink before he finally took a seat. The settee was very posh. Malfoy joined him, sitting entirely too close.

It took a second bramble for Harry to slur, “I thought you were fucking Hermione.”

Malfoy’s eyes were dark and his cheeks were pink. He threw his blond head back and laughed. “No, you idiot. I don’t like fanny.”

This made Harry frown. “What’s there not to like?”

Malfoy frowned too as he chewed on a bit of crushed ice. “It’s all right, I suppose, but there are other things I like far more.”

“Like what?”

Then Malfoy set aside his drink and took Harry’s face in his hands.

“What are you doing?” Harry asked, head spinning.

“This.” Malfoy kissed him.

Harry wished he could say he was shocked, but he wasn’t. Malfoy hadn’t asked him for a drink, not really. He had asked him if he was willing to cheat on his wife while she was in Brazil.

“I’ve never done this before,” Harry gasped as Malfoy opened his mouth on his neck.

“Don’t worry, I’ll show you everything,” Malfoy said, his hand now between Harry’s legs, squeezing. “Everything.”

this started out as an entry for a fest but is now just a regular ol' wip i sometimes fantasize about finishing heh.

junior auror potter gets saddled with draco malfoy's parole visit one sunny day and has to check out his potions laboratory while he's there:

There was a furious flush on Malfoy’s face. Harry was clutching his throbbing kneecap when Malfoy swiftly levitated the book into the air and, with a flick of his wand, produced several sheets of paper next to it. He flicked his wand again and the book shot across the room, slamming into an open cabinet, its wooden doors shutting and locking in its wake. The papers fell on top of Harry’s head, then scattered around the floor. “Oops. Sorry,” Malfoy said, sounding extremely unsorry. “Well, those are your copies of the ledger.” Harry glared at him. He pointed his wand at the papers, and they promptly gathered into his outstretched hand. “I wasn’t going to duplicate your weird porn sketches, Malfoy.” “They’re not—!” Malfoy looked pained now. “They’re scientific illustrations, Potter. It’s research. You wouldn’t understand, of course, anything more cerebral than Quidditch Through the Ages goes straight over your head—”  “What kind of scientific purpose requires you to analyse the anatomy of an arsehole?” Harry pressed, completely forgetting himself. It was like Hogwarts all over again, the scarlet colour of his robes at the edge of his vision barely tethering him to his painstakingly cultivated adult persona. “It’s not just the—! It’s also the surrounding…!” Malfoy paused, took a few sharp breaths while looking as if he’d really like to be stomping his foot. “It’s for my formula, alright! For my lubrication potion!” He did stomp his foot then. Harry frowned. “Your what?” “I don’t expect you to understand, of course. Hetero Hero of Our Hearts, Protector of the Straight and Narrow—” “What are you even—” “However,” Malfoy went on, looking bored all of a sudden, his annoyance devolving into his usual, devastating drawl. “Some of us are a little bent, Potter. Some of us are very bent, actually, and keen on exploring ways in which we can bring pleasure to our bodies beyond what we get from the very utilitarian Lubrico.” Harry felt the fight leak out of him. “You’re…bent?” “Yes,” Malfoy said, raising his chin. “Are you going to write that down in your little form?” Heat rushed to Harry’s face. “Er, no. Hi phenomenal @hd-erised community! Our Anonymous Masterlist posted yesterday, and reveals will be up on Sunday, January 5th, so there's still plenty of time to catch up on any of the submissions you might have missed before then! While we're all waiting eagerly to find out who did what, may we interest you in some stats for the 2024 fest? :D

This year we had a total of 44 submissions: 8 beautiful pieces of art, and 35 fantastic fics, and one lovely submission which did both!! Let's dig into the details, shall we?

Fanart Stats:

This year we had 8 gorgeous digital art pieces. The average submission from our amazing artists this year was ~12 pages, with our longest comic coming in at 44 pages!! The total number of pages we had between all of our art submissions was 109, so definitely loads to enjoy! We're so impressed with all of the fantastic art we've had this year, and we hope that you are too!

That's way more than one million words of Harry and Draco loving on each other and getting up to all sorts of shenanigans! Are you impressed with the dedication of our spectacular writers? Because we sure are!

Our shortest fic this year was 2.6k, while our longest was ~143k! The average fic length this year was ~30k, which is a bit lower than last year, and 17 of the fics this year were below 25k—a perfect size for a day's read! :D

And once again, the smut has come out on top! (Or on the bottom, as the case may be…)

In those stories, Harry and Draco got up to all sorts of activities in all sorts of places. We had facials and fingering and frottage, wanking and rimming, hand jobs and blow jobs, and of course anal sex (sometimes with gagging or felching or monsterfucking). Of the fics where there was penetration, Draco bottomed about 1.5x more than Harry, but, as always, they certainly were versatile!

And that versatility isn't limited to the bedroom (or any of the other places these boys got up to their shenanigans!); we also saw it in their careers. As we've seen in years past, Harry's most popular career of choice was Auror (12 fics—though sometimes we saw a career switch for him!), but he also had a variety of other jobs, including: man of leisure, magical landscaper, woodworker, professional Quidditch player, professor (or PE teacher, thank you very much), and a magi-geologist, amongst other things!

Draco, on the other hand, as usual held a much wider variety of careers. His most popular career was an Quidditch player/coach (at only 3 fics!). He was also a Sanguinologist, professor, barrister, wandmaker, Mala-cologist, magical preservationist, and a DRAGON among the rest!

Once again, our most popular time period by a landslide was Post-Hogwarts EWE with 31 fics set after the boys have left Hogwarts and ignoring (or mostly ignoring) the Epilogue, with 3 set in 8th year and 1 canon rewrite. That's 88% set post-Hogwarts!!

A Case of You - HP Rec Fest 2024

A Case of You by epitomereally (podfic version by Cailynwrites) Draco/Harry. Rated: E. Words: 97,200. Case Fic, Non-Linear Narrative, Auror Partners, Unspeakables, Pining, Falling In Love, Getting Together, Getting Back Together, Hurt/Comfort, Slow Emotional Burn Fast-ish Sexual Burn Day 28 Prompt: a fic over 100k (i...if you round up this fic is 100k!) This fic is stupendously interesting, jumping back and forth (non-linear narrative) between when Harry and Draco first had a fast-burn of an almost-relationship, and to the current case they are solving years later. It also paints a beautiful portrait of Draco's life as an Unspeakable for the French government after he gives up on Auror life in Britain. The longing, pining, dancing around each other is amazing! The case they are solving is pulled along and kept my attention the whole time, and the background characters (most of which are canon names) are so interesting. I listened to this as a podfic in two gulps! The podfic includes music and the emotion is just chef's kiss. Excerpt:

Draco was in early on a Sunday morning, doing just that, when Potter came in striding in, clearly flustered and just out of bed. His cheeks were red and his hair wild, his uniform jacket only half-buttoned over a white vest and his feet hastily tucked into the regulation boots, seemingly without socks. Potter stopped a few metres from their desk, spotting Draco. He said, “Malfoy? I didn’t think you’d be in.” Draco stood up, clenching his jaw. He hadn’t known what he’d do when confronted with Potter, but it rankled to have his intentional avoidance of Draco thrown in his face. He gritted out, “It is our cubby, Potter, and I’ve work to do.” “On a Sunday morning?” Potter asked incredulously. “Certainly,” Draco said. “One tends to have to work longer hours when one’s partner is so frequently absent from work.” Potter blushed on top of his blotchy perspiration. “Er, right. Well, I’m just off then.” Potter turned on his heels to leave the office and Draco noticed a bright yellow Aurors summons clutched in his fingers. “Potter!” He called out. “You haven’t been called on to a case and are leaving without your partner, are you?” Clearly caught out, Potter stopped and turned on his heels. He said, “Are you coming or not, then?” Draco threw on his jacket and jammed his wand in his thigh holster after extinguishing the candle on their desk. Bloody Potter—almost like he was trying to get Draco fired from the force.

day 10: a fest/event fic

since Erised is currently posting I thought it would be fun to rec something fresh and still anon. I had a blast reading The Pain From an Old Wound (T, 30k) this weekend, a delicious case fic combining some of my top favorite tropes: curse breakers (!), exes (!!), competent Draco (!!!) with lots of sexual tension and sprinkles of jealousy on top.

there’s no way this combo could go wrong but I’ll give a shoutout to the amazing characterization - love me a dramatic, vicious and insufferable Draco managing to keep his cool (is he though 😏) while Harry is left with all the inner turmoil of asking his hot ex for help, ahh so satisfying! something I love is that the fic include subtle moments in which we can see all the hurt, sorrow and lingering feelings they still have for each other, it’s so intense and bittersweet. my brand of break up make up!

the mystery involving house magic is super cool, and I was very much into this new take on Harry & Narcissa dynamics, tense and a bit hostile, it was refreshing to see. overall a really fun, exciting and cinematic love story with perfect Drarry banter and a sweet, moving ending. go check it out and give it some love before the reveals!

💜 The impact of @upthehillart on my personal psyche cannot be overstated. Each character has such a distinct, realistic look that they don't need to be named - you can tell exactly who you're looking at. Every small skin, hair, and clothing detail adds up to an absolute masterpiece that I would hang on my wall. I adore everything they have ever created, but especially this animated art of a rainy night at home and this one of forehead kisses

💚 @kk1smet has such a unique way of drawing characters that are instantly recognisable as being their work; the linework and the blending is always beautiful, the scenarios are varied, and the emotions of the characters jump off the screen. I simply could not pick my favourite, although Beauxbatons!Harry and these 'missed look' frames are definitely up there!

The stars have aligned... HD Tarot Fest is here!

HD Tarot is a new Harry/Draco fest which uses the cards of the Major and Minor Arcana as prompts for fanart and fanfic. No prior knowledge of the Tarot is necessary to participate!

We encourage everyone to browse our list of the 78 Tarot cards (with links to their full meanings and interpretations) to see if any of them spark interest in any way.

The cards are the prompts. For artists, this means that you will be recreating your assigned cards in the style of Drarry, whereas writers will be using their assigned cards’ meanings to write their stories.

Claiming for Art

Requirements for Art

Your art piece needs to be an original work created for the purposes of this fest.

The art piece needs to incorporate the name of your assigned card, and reference the symbolism and themes associated with that card. Other than that, there are so many ways that Tarot cards can be interpreted—from literal to abstract—and we are happy to see your unique take on them!

The standard Tarot card size is 2.75’’x4.75’’ (7cmx12cm), so (at 300 dpi) the file resolution needs to be 900x1500 pixels. 

All art submissions will need to contain alt text to ensure accessibility for participants using screen readers.

Claiming for Fic

There are three options to choose from for fic claims:

The minimum word count is 1,000 words. There is no upper limit!

All stories need to be complete, original works. 

If you plan on using your story as a prequel or sequel to an already published work, please only link it to the existing work after reveals are up.

If you would like to create both fic and art, there are three options to choose from:

All works need to be directly submitted to the dedicated HD Tarot Fest AO3 collection.

You will need to add the hd_tarot_mod account as a co-creator when uploading your works to AO3. This is so that the mods are able to sort and backdate all entries before posting. The fest mod account will be removed from all works on AO3 once reveals are up.

Please ensure that you tag your work appropriately and list any relevant warnings.

In order for your submission to be confirmed, you will need to email the mods at hdtarotfest@gmail.com with the following header filled out:

HD Tarot is an 18+ fest. Participants will need to confirm that they are over the age of 18 when claiming their prompts.

The fest is anonymous, which means all submissions need to be original and not part of an ongoing/existing work on AO3 or anywhere else. Please also refrain from sharing any sketches and/or writing snippets publicly until after fest reveals are up. (You can, of course, discuss the fest and make it known that you’re participating!)

Prompts are assigned on a first come, first served basis.

Only one prompt claim can be made at a time. However, if you complete and post your assigned prompt to the fest collection on AO3 before claiming closes, you are welcome to claim another prompt. 

Each card can be claimed once for art within the same fest cycle. This is because the overarching goal of the fest is to form a full Drarry Tarot deck at some point! If the Airtable prompt masterlist shows that a card has been claimed for art, then it’s no longer available for claiming in this fest cycle. 

However, all cards will be available for claiming in each subsequent fest cycle—we’re planning on labeling them as low priority in terms of the Drarry Tarot deck goal, but artists will be able to claim them next year even if they’ve already been drawn during a previous fest cycle.

Each card can be claimed multiple times for fic within the same fest cycle. That is why the claim form will not show that a prompt has been claimed or blocked out for fic. 

We do not accept works created with the use of AI.
