HC that Cherri Cola was a little like 5-6 year old boy who Dr. Death picked up and kinda raised. No one knows how Cherri came to the zones or if he was born there, honestly Cherri barely knew.

He gave this little everything he needs and saw this him like a son, but he wasn’t overbearing. Letting him basically roam free after he turns like 9 aslong as he’s in the area (unless there’s dracs and stuff)

He was the one that got Cherri into poetry and would sometimes feature this little preteens angsty poetry on his radio. Then Cherri avoiding him for hours.

my wife receives like 20 cherri cola drawings a day i can never stop thinking about her… using this ask to ramble very disorganized abt him.

my cherri combines the twitterverse and comics takes on him to make One fucking strange lesbian. i like to think he was a very angry and explosive kid after the death of his mother, spending a lot of time alone in the desert until the station (dr d, pony, and newsie) find him and take him in. his first fab four friend was jet, with the others a little hesitant to keep him too close, especially once they find the girl, since he always seemed to bring trouble.

when that twitterverse rampage thing happens (where he kills. what. 230 something dracs? and loses his arm) and he is brainwashed into gary levko, i imagine that being some sort of early version of what the director eventually tried to put korse through after finding out about his boyfriend, i forget what it’s called. i know the twitterverse doesn’t make gary do all that much, but i like to think bli would see a guy with a kill rate that crazy and NEED to use him. they don’t want to drac him, because what if in taking his soul, he loses those skills too? so they brainwash him, they turn him into a scarecrow, and they are having a ball watching a killjoy turn around and kill other rebels like it’s nothing.

of course, he’s eventually saved, and he eventually snaps out of it, but i think as the memories become less foggy, he just can’t stomach picking up that ray gun again, not after knowing the blood of so many rebels are on his hands.

Headcanons n stuff from my Phoenix Witch Ghoul au

So like the Witch was the Witch but basically something happened and he sacrificed himself to save everyone and in doing so his soul merged with hers and so that’s how he became her

He has all of the Witch's memories now alongside his own as she has all his, they are one being and yet the Witch still somewhat has her own consciousness or like vibes in his head, it’s hard to explain but it’ll make sense in the fic i think

Ghoul has all of the Witch's powers like seeing souls, appearing to people, granting small miracles, and being able to see the history of any soul. He can also ‘manifest’ as anything so when he’s in the living world, sometimes he’s fun ghoul but sometimes they’re a crow/raven or a coyote or something. his favorite way to traverse the zones is as a raven. He can shapeshift essentially.

Since he and the Witch are one, he’s her but he’s also still himself, it’s like a genderfuck mindfuck thing and his identity isn’t the same. He’s fun ghoul but not, or well, it’s easier to be fun ghoul when he’s with the Fab Four or his friends and appearing as a killjoy, but if he’s reaping souls and stuff he’s more witch than killjoy and doesn’t feel like connected to humanity. And then when he is fun ghoul, his identity has changed since before he was the witch, he’s just genderless now as opposed to like transmasc lol

Kobra has powers too, he can speak to spiders and snakes and all the little things and sometimes they'll help him out, for he earned their respect and praise in a previous life.

And he always wears sunglasses because he literally has snake eyes. He can see infrared like snakes and it makes him fucking deadly at night

Unlike Ghoul, Kobra is still human, but he is also strangely in tune with the desert, more than any normal killjoy. Becuase of this connection, Kobra can always predict the weather or where dracs are going to appear.

Its common knowledge that crows are just puppies and when Ghouls around the diner in the form of one he always gets pet.

Kobra's the only one thats seen Ghouls true form, the one he has on the spiritual plane, the form of the Phoenix Witch or, well, what he and the Phoenix Witch merged to become. He thinks that form is beautiful.

None of them ever fail to be in awe of the fact that their little guy is now The Motherfucking Witch

Doctor Death Defying is named that for a reason, hes the Witch's favorite, after all(until Ghoul joined the witch, then theres several favorites.

Some killjoys have the ability to astral project, to walk the spiritual plane and talk to the witch in her realm. Doctor D has this ability and it’s how he always knows about claps and lost killjoys right away, becuase he astral projects and wanders the other side and sees what souls are waiting for the witch

Cola also has this power, but doesn't use it as much as Doctor D does.

The girl also has the power to astral project, thats how ghouls finds her in the first place, she passed out in the desert from the heat and is wandering his world and he sees the power in his soul, knows that she could save the world one day, so he goes to her and brings her back to the fab four, where they become her family

She calls Ghoul birdy and things along those lines a lot because her first impression of him was that of his quite feathery form of the witch

When jet star loses her eye, ghoul gives her a different kind of sight from where the eye is missing- the power to see souls and spirits

Kobra calls him Cuervo all the time now as a term of endearment

Even though he's the witch now they still roughhouse they’re still idiots

Ghoul will live forever and get to witness his friend’s souls being reborn time and time again

He can manifest as anything and kets just say he starts taking some liberties(ehhem um trnasgender things) with his form(also the pranking potential of shapeshifting.. it doesnt matter that hes a powerful spirit now hes still a little shit)

Hehe :3 so here is more traditional art of my OC because I am obsessed with drawing xem. No idea why, I just love them :0 anyways.

Backstory (the gist of it anyways)!

Born to the zones, Retro Bolt was just another average zone kid with a makeshift family and a broken history. Now, Retro doesn't remember most of their past after they were brainwashed when xe was around 14ish and turned into a draculoid, which left them without any recollection of their past life.

The mask had melted into their skin, but they were hostile. Xe never fought anyone and was eventually kicked out into the zones to find a purpose from the city. Retro just wandered and wandered, with no purpose. Their mind was fuzzy, xe didn't know who they were or what they were meant to do.

This was all until xe was found by the one and only Cherri Cola. At first, Cherri was ready to shoot Retro when he noticed how hostile they were. Xe didn't attack and simply kept walking in an unknown direction. With the sympathy in his heart, Cherri took Retro back to the station. Dr. Death was completely against the idea of attempting to take someone out of draculoidzation. It was too risky and dangerous. But Cherri kept arguing that this could change something and they could find a weakness.

Reluctantly, Dr. Death allowed Cherri to do what he found the best. Cherri spent days trying to pry the mask off of Retro and to no use, it never came off. Slowly melting more into their skin. Eventually, Cherri gave up but kept Retro around.

One time, Poison and the girl were visiting because the girl wanted to go see Show. Cherri directed The girl to a room before talking with Poison about some poem. The girl ran off and accidentally went into the wrong room, opening the one that held Retro inside. Xe was sitting on the floor, not doing anything. The Girl walked over, knowing Draculoids were bad, but she had heard the way Cherri described this drac.

The Girl had also heard Cherri's complaint about how he couldn't get the mask off. So, she wanted to try something. She walked over to xem, slowly and hesitantly as to not scare them. They didn't move and stared, in a daze. The girl was able to locate the zipper and pull it off, but not without a bloody mess. Retro screamed out in pain as the mask ripped off parts of xers skin and nerves, leaving the blood to leave their face.

Their hands were covered in their own blood and xe was still dazed, but now they were more conscious. They couldn't see out of one of xers eyes and slowly backed away against a wall. Retro wanted to say something outside of their screams but it seems as if xers vocal cords just stopped working to produce everything but words. Cherri ran into the room at the first scream and stared at the mess. If blood loss didn't get to xem, the sand would.

It was a harsh time to get the blood cleaned up, but Cherri managed to get something done. So, now there was this dazed Retro will no recollection of their past and no idea even where they are. Cherri worked with Retro, like a teacher. He spent hours figuring out Retro's name, although Retro didn't know and simply made one up, or one that sounded familiar.

Cherri helped Retro adjust to the zone life and it was pure luck Retro survived.

Little Fun Facts! X3

- Retro had constant flashbacks, mostly of their memories. Xe tries to piece their life together from before the draculoidzation.

- Retro is obsessed with colors and always has art supplies on xem due to how long they spent in a black and white vision.

- Retro roller skates! Show taught them how to and helped xe make their own pair.

- They can't feel anything on the side of their face with the scar, it doesn't feel like anything due to the nerves being ripped out.

- Their favorite band is Pinkshift (Yes, I am kinda putting myself in this OC, shush)

- Retro is confused on sexuality and gender identity (believing they don't have a gender) because xe doesn't know about how to feel about anything like that. They've never experienced romantic feelings and don't feel any gender really fits them.

Assorted Danger Days/Fab Four headcanons from my notes app, bc AO3 is down:

-Ghoul was half raised by a lot of people, but somewhere along the line he had one or two decent parental figures who saw a half feral child with The Itch (ADHD) and said "okay sit down imma show you how to do stuff with your hands that keeps your mind busy too." so yeah he can weave a blanket and make a bomb. when he gets outta his head it's a toss up if he needs to get in a fight or just sit somewhere quiet with the loom for a smidge

-Jet has a tendency to come up with a solution for a problem and just not tell anyone. like, Kobra gets hurt one time and Ghoul and Party are arguing about what to do with an unconscious Kobra and Jet gets sick of the arguing but instead of doing anything sensible he puts Kobra in the backseat of the car and drives off to give him first aid. like he's fixing the situation! just not in a helpful way!

-None of them are completely sure where they were born; Battery City regularly tries to steal Zone-born babies, and Killjoys regularly try to steal children into the Zones. Ghoul was born in the city but got hauled to the Zones in a 'joy raid when he was three and has little/no memory of the city, fully believes he was born in the Zones; like a lot of Zone kids he bounced between whoever had the time and resources to take care of a kid at the moment, he started living in a shack half a mile from Dr. D's place when he was sixteen, this did not help his socialization. Jet was born in the Zones, but his birth parents got ghosted when he was a baby and the Dracs brought him in; his City family was close enough to some Juvie Halls that when a break for the Zones was planned, they grabbed the six year old, those Juvie Halls became Killjoys and his parents; grew up in a wandering caravan with two moms and a dad, all of whom were dead by the time he was twelve, spent a few years hanging around Gravel Gertie's and the remnants of the caravan before going out on his own, basically is constantly wandering between all the places his friends are. Kobra was also born in the Zones, to Neutral parents, and they moved to Battery City when he was two, he later got taken in by (read: sold by his parents to) BLind's research division and escaped by burning down a lab when he was eleven, this did not do wonders for his mental state; some 'joys in Two picked him up and brought him to the radio station while they tried to figure out what to do with him, he imprinted on a fifteen year old Cherri Cola and started bike racing bc that means he doesn't have to think about feelings. Party was born in the city but their mom ran from BLind and settled them in the Zones for about six years after she found out she was pregnant, eventually got ghosted in a Drac raid and Party was re-educated until their early teens, someone made the mistake of thinking they'd be a good candidate for Draculoidization and the second they were out of direct supervision they ran far and fast and never looked back; they think the Diner might be close to where they lived with their mom, but their pre-reducation memories are spotty.

-Jet's the one who stole the 'Am, bc he was wandering around a scrap yard in Zone One while having a Bad Day and was like "that looks stealable, what's the worst that could happen" and he almost died bc he doesn't know how to drive stick and also was getting shot at. but he lived it's fine.

-Kobra is slightly famous because of his Crash Track races but he's only like, distantly aware of this. Has no real concept of fame or money. Will do any chore people ask of him for food.

-The Fab Four started hanging out because of Jet, because he just wandered around between wherever his friends were, and eventually he grabbed the weird artist in Five who he's maybe got a crush on to come with him and then it turns out they know the demolitions guy who lives in a shack bc he's helped them make paint bombs and then they're all a fan of the Crash Track and Ghoul and Kobra bond on a spiritual level so everyone's like "I guess we're sticking together" and they claim the Diner after a minor gang war and that's that, none of them are older than eighteen at that point.

I’m going to be controversial for a minute:

Korse has to be the worst Danger Days character. He was cool and villainous in the music videos but he really overstayed his welcome. It was over for him after SING. He served his purpose, and cut to 12 years down the line, why on earth is he still around?

His C Plot in the comics is my largest criticism of that whole mess in itself. It was unnecessary and took up so many pages that should have been dedicated to Red and Blue, whose arc actually has something to do with the world building and waking Destroya. Not to mention their story is almost an exact mirror of Korse’s anyways except it’s relevant to the plot.

We didn’t need Korse to be redeemed (well they attempted to redeem him but they didn’t accomplish it. They just pulled a Walking Dead and Governor’d him). We didn’t need him to have a sob story. Especially because they didn’t set anything up for the other Scarecrows (you know the fucking villains?). Out of all the BL/i bad guys, the Scarecrows are meant to be the most terrifying. They are allowed personality and freedom over others because of their willingness (programmed or not, it isn’t really clear. Fucking Amazing writing strikes again) to Kill People. Scarecrows know they’re brutalizing humans where as Dracs do not; and Exterminators likely do not either. That is what sets them apart and makes them truly formidable and dangerous. Because they are willingly offing people for their own status and gain.

BL/ind is the ANTAGONIST. We aren’t supposed to feel bad for any of the fascists!! Not one of them! What the fuck?? Korse is shown to still be out euthanizing people, and he wanted to keep his job too. He hasn’t “changed for the better”, he’s a domestic terrorist. Korse didn’t apologize or make up for a single thing he did as a Scarecrow. The second he wasn’t getting benefits (and the benefit of the doubt) he cut and run.

Korse didn’t interact with any of the main characters (save for Val I guess but they don’t mean anything to one another and they didn’t talk). The Girl never saw him or had any awareness of what he was doing. She probably thought he was dead, or just gone. What in the hell was the point of him even being there if he had no part in furthering her arc (I’m kidding myself here a little because the writers did not give two shits about The Girl either)? He is the one who murdered the Four in cold blood and Drac’d The Girl’s mom, if we aren’t forgetting that… I sure as hell don’t believe that would just slip her mind either.

But I know the reason they did all that bs, because doing something different would make a better story, and the people writing anything related to Danger Days are allergic to making nuanced narrative decisions. Especially if they’re writing legacy characters (all of the Fab Four, Cherri Cola, The Girl, Korse, Show Pony, Doc). We got an attempted redemption arc for the serial killing white guy where all of his actions were just cleaved off of him and “actually it was the Director who was at fault for everything he did!” And not to mention the Director… Just makes the entire thing 100x worse (re: racism).

Think of what we could have gotten if we weren’t wasting pages on Korse’s arc where we ultimately learned nothing about him except that he has half a brain and a nameless boyfriend who dies less than a page after we meet him. And that he got fired for not killing enough people. Yes that is what he got fired for, not because he came to Jesus and realized he was doing something bad. He only wanted out after he got demoted. What the hell.

They are gone, Cherri. Your friends, the saviors of the wastes, the Fabulous Killjoys dusted behind walls not many could reach. You are one of the few who hold true memories of their lives out here. And you're wasting them by frying your brains on radiation just to numb the pain. How dare you.

Memories are a rarity in city-born killjoys you know. The battery acid forced down their throats usually took most of them away. The only things left behind were remnants that felt like broken shards of glass when pulled out. The few that do remember don't talk about it, drowning their sorrows in cheap beer or deadly moonshine. So you must count yourself lucky you are a sand pup with the ability to remember everything good and bad.

You must look after your memories. They are what bind us to our purpose, the only things that keep us going. The good ones give us hope for the future and the bad ones remind us of the things we carry on for. I know that it's hard sometimes but you must hold on. The Zones deserve to hear their stories. Not only ones of daring deeds and ghosting Dracs but also smaller ones connected to home. Ones full of laughter. Full of love. You have many of those up in your brain Cherri Cola. Don't let your grief and regrets make you forget.

Use that talent for writing poetry to share what you know. Those words you seem to pull out of thin air have a way to soothe people in the most dire circumstances. And right now they need it more than ever. I will save you, only this once. I ask two things of you before you go. One, you will be the saviour of all lost souls. You will collect their masks and put them in the postbox for me to collect. And secondly you will share your art with the world, bringing hope to all who will listen.
