Today's hot topic: Whether Senku's love for ramen stemmed from him and his father regularly eating it together, or it was because of his pre-existing love for ramen that made them eat it together regularly, we do not know... but what we do know is that Senku loved ramen, just like Byakuya. Ishigami Byakuya exemplifies so much of what it means to be a good teacher and father it just, physically pains me. Byakuya who understands the importance of not only teaching but passing things on to the next generation. Byakuya who wasn't a genuis like Senku and understood his strengths and limitations better than anyone else (because isn't it a teacher's job to know that about their students? so why wouldn't Byakuya know his in return?), who knew that he wasn't capable of reviving humanity – so if he couldn't save everyone the best thing he could do was to set the stage for those who can.

And I think another thing that gets me is that Senku takes after Byakuya, whether he knows it or not.

Because Senku also knows the strength of the people around him. Of course he uses it to his advantage because he needs the best of the best to be able to make progress in the stone world, but is that not what a teacher does? Encourage and help build the strengths of their students? To not only watch them grow but to allow them to excel and flourish?

Other than being their friend, Senku understands Taiju and Yuzuriha's strengths. He knows of Taiju's insane stamina and Yuzuriha's crafting skills. He knows of Gen's ability to negotiate and Ryusui's mastery of the winds and seas. He respect's Kaseki's craftsmanship and acknowledge's Chrome's enthusiasm for science. (Because even though Chrome was born in the stone world, Senku cannot ignore his love for science and his desire to know more and apply the things he's learned. He can make fun of Chrome all he wants but Senku was also a kid who couldn't figure out why the moon was following him – and so if Chrome's curiosity leads to a deeper love for science then how can Senku keep that from him?)

Byakuya didn't just leave behind resources and an entire village behind to help Senku when he revived, but he also (knowingly or not) passed on the ability to discern between a person's strengths and weaknesses and how to continue building on those strengths.

But I think one of the most important things that connects the two of them is hope, and it's why the people around them are so drawn to them. Because Byakuya didn't give up when the Earth was petrified, yes he was scared, there were so many things he didn't know or understand, but he had hope that Senku would wake up in the future.

Senku totally isn't the type who'd call himself a hero – I mean, he and Gen damned themselves to hell when they planned on tricking the Tsukasa Empire with Lillian's recording, so I'm sure he'd ten billion percent reject the idea. But there's no denying the hope he instilled in the people around them.

The joy of sight for Suika by making glasses for her, for Kaseki by allowing him to create things he's never even dreamt about in his old age, for Chrome and his never ending curiosity and ever growing love for science. Not only for the people of Ishigami Village but from the "modern time" people as well.

Gen was almost moved to tears when he saw the date carved into the tree by Senku because he realized there was someone who was not only conscious but knew that they would break out of their petrification one day. How could he not feel hope when he knew there was someone out there who envisioned a future after what was believed to be the end of humanity?

i was re watching Dr Stone because Senku is a funny little guy. And I had a thought.

Why didn't Byakuya tell the children that the sorcery they know is science? It's a simple thing to do.

[for the reader/reader indulgent] (ahem, this is written by an only child who isn't adopted so like trying my best)

Byakuya would've adopted you a few years after adopting Senku (around 5 or 6 years old)

He would try his best to spoil both of you; if Senku's really into science but you're into another interest, he'll try his best to fund the both of them

Senku doesn't really take on a brotherly role but more of a "you're my lab partner" and spends most of his time with you while conducting science experiments

Byakuya has had to stop you and Senku from starting a fire in the living room many times because you may have accidentally set off one of your "fake" mini rockets

Senku borrows some of your stuff to use for science, Byakuya has to scold him for taking your stuff without permission

Byakuya most likely lived in a two bedroom apartment, so you and Senku would have to share a bedroom in your early childhood

Once Byakuya could afford it/after he got his job at NASA, y'all moved into a three bedroom apartment and you were so happy to not share a room where your brother is up at ungodly hours researching
