Look Star Trek Discovery is a BOP! For me at least. I’m watching it now and I gotta say as a Trek fan the little black girl in me be too turnt up when I watch it. The captain is black, a woman, AND named Michael. Bro I be in heaven enjoying this freaking show, I’m content just watching Michael Burnham breathe on my screen lol. Just because she IS her and she looks like me! I’m grown as hell but yeah a black, captain, named Michael, who IS Vulcan makes me happy and stuff. Representation really is an important thing out here huh? Also Sylvia Tilly and Hugh Culber are BAE AF honorable mentions. I LOVE THEM. Tilly is amazing and I’ve just straight up loved Wilson Cruz aka Dr. Hugh Culber since “My So Called Life” sue me lol.

Another thing I like from Star Trek Discovery is they had a gay couple and then they introduced queer teens and just said "they're a family now. The gay dad's have trans kids now."

Some Paul panels from my upcoming 7-page comic. I think I'll finish it this weekend. About it:

After having to destroy the Spore Drive, Paul is dealing with some feelings of grief. On top of that, there's a recurring childhood memory that's bugging him, but he can't quite place where it's coming from. Dr Tracy Pollard has a shot at identifying it with him.

Other characters include: Michael Burnham, Hugh Culber and Adira Tal.

I can't wait 'til I finish it because I've been working on it for almost two months now and I've had it:)

As a disabled person, if I somehow ended up in the Star Trek universe, the franchise doctors that I would be comfortable receiving regular care from are:

Admiral/Dr. Beverly Crusher

Dr. Phlox

Dr. Hugh Culber

Dr. Joseph M'Benga

The rest are great doctors and I would trust any of them in an emergency

But I feel that these four would see me as a human being, not a case study or an inspiration or something to fix or worse, pity

If they couldn’t cure my my disability by their century, they would make sure that I was listened to and believed when I advocated for myself. And that they did their best to allow me to be as independent as possible and to make sure I lived a long life in the manner I wanted to do so.

And I get the vibe that none of the four of them would ever act like my physical disability made them uncomfortable or that they assumed my mind was affected when it is not.

And while sone of them don’t necessarily serve on my favorite ships or even the most accessible ships, I would follow them where I needed to to get the best care.
