aside from all the negative stuff happening
can I just rave about old game graphics?
Specifically 3d graphics, I'm not talking before the N64, I'm talking about the N64, PSP, old PC games etc. etc. Because those graphics are HELLA good.
I mean look at them-
Tumblr media Tumblr media
PERFECTION.
utter PERFECTION. and nostalgia, because I grew up playing funky little games like that, mostly ff7 and ff8 because the 64 wasn't connected to the TV and we didn't have the OG resident evil(still don't)
There's this sense of stylization with it nowadays as well if you played or heard of games like Nun Massacre, Murderhouse, that one game thats essentially just FEED ME SEYMOURRRRR and other stuff like that one santa horror game.
These types of graphics add a sort of nostalgia factor due to the fact of how it looks old, and stuff, i forgot what word I was gonna use, but yeah- and on the other end it makes character look so CUTE, look at little mario up there, he looks so ADORABLE.
It adds this sort of effect which I can't exactly explain, but low graphics horror, low poly, etc. FUCKING AWESOME.

NEW VIDEO! In January, I made a video titled “The Geek Content Mills Ruining the Internet.” In November, that video disappeared. The reason why? Screen Rant's parent company, Valnet, sent a cease & desist letter to my house. So… let's go over that. It's quite the situation.

I s2g I will never understand people getting mad at games in 2024 for being "woke".
Sweethearts. Babies. My lovelies.
This shit ain't new.
Minsc has had developmental delay since 1998.
Ezmerelda from Curse of Strahd had a prosthetic leg (that was also second edition)
The "Girdle of Femininity/Masculinity" (still Baldur's Gate 1) allowed the wearer to permanently change their sex, and surrounding characters would then address the wearer with the new pronouns -even if the belt was removed, as long as it was still in the wearer's inventory. A character that romanced you while you were wearing the belt, would stay romanced even if you chose to discard it, and simply update the pronoun choice, and vice versa.
Several Overwatch characters have canon disabilities/missing limbs.
Link has been nonverbal for like 40 years.
There's probably a lot more but this is just off the top of my head.
How are people only just noticing? And why are they mad?
Games have always had a vast array of different types of people with different identities and struggles, die mad about it.

Thinking about Fatal Frame 5 and how they kinda alluded Miku's and Mafuyu's relationship was 👀👀👀 I HATE IT.
Apparently it was heavily insinuated that Miku loved her brother on that direction from Fatal Frame 1, so Fatal Frame 5 was like that because of that.
Personally not loving that.

Tags from me that i made into their own post, concerning triple A games:
i don't even really play triple a games and have basically never heard of this particular game, which is not a diss or anything, but I've been noticing this general trend of triple a games often just being... bad
like yeah, maybe they're still fun to play and stuff but what seems to be lacking is proper commitment. the last triple a game i played was horizon zero dawn and yeah it was good but also... the writing wasn't all that great. Well, it was, the thing is... (without giving any spoilers here) basically the entire backstory of how the world of the game you play came to be is explained in one place, all at once. no little nuggets splayed around the world here or there, no gradually going to certain key places in the world and getting the story bit by bit, just... everything, at once. and the big gimmick so to speak of the world is that nature coexists with machines right? but you can only actually ride like 2 or 3 of the machines. and those machines are literally just horses. That's it. that's their purpose, and nothing else. like you can take full control of all machines bc you, the player, have a thing to do that with. But all that accomplishes is that the machines that would normally fight you, bc most machines are automatically hostile to you, just... leave you alone for a bit. and that's it. No special ability you can make use of, no help from them in combat if you're fighting something or someone else.
And these machines are supposed to be robotic animals but they don't actually fill any ecological niche like real animals do! At least, not really! The GAME says that they do, but you never actually see it HAPPENING in the game AS YOU PLAY!!! which just makes it all the MORE disappointing! Because they HAD the blueprint and everything! But they just! Didn't! Commit!!!
(modified for better read-ability, original tags under the cut)

I hate these articles.
Tumblr media
ScreenRant, GameRant, Comic Book Resources, and so many others just like them do absolutely nothing but spout nonsense and pretend that it's legitimate. Then, the few times they may actually have something to say that isn't garbage it's because the information was just stolen from someone else who bothered to sit down and do the research.
Seriously, I can't even tell you how many of these articles I've found that are so obviously stupid even in the context of what they're saying. This article talks about how Marc's trauma is from Randall's death (it was his mother's abusive reaction to it), Jake was a third personality that came out of nowhere for no reason other than shock value (he's from the comics, and there are several hints to his existence throughout the series), they complain about how not enough time was given to the emotional gut punch that was episode five in favor of the climactic final battle in episode six (I don't agree but I guess I'll allow it), and the final conclusion is that... it should have been a movie instead???
Tumblr media
How the hell do you go from "the six episode series didn't have enough time to flesh itself out" to "this would have been so much better as a single movie" in the same sentence? Do you not see the contradiction? I don't know how long each episode is off the top of my head (and I'm too lazy to go look), but bingeing it beginning to end with my family took all day.
I'm stupid and feeling petty now. Instead of looking up the runtime, I'm gonna do some math.
Let's say Moon Knight was a movie. That would be, on average, an hour and a half to two hours long. Let's say two.
(Again, still not checking the actual runtimes cause I'm too lazy.) Let's say all six episodes are thirty minutes each. I know they're not, but let's say they are. Put together, that would be three hours long.
Let's say they're all an hour long, which feels more accurate to what they probably are for real. That's six hours long.
Let me ask again, HOW WOULD MOON KNIGHT BE BETTER OFF AS A MOVIE WITH A SHORTER RUNTIME IF YOU CAN'T STOP COMPLAINING THAT IT DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME AS IS???
In conclusion, I demand a second season. I also demand that these stupid ass clickbait articles die off as soon as possible.

Skull and Bone: Not even worth pirating
Well, well, well, here we are again. Yet another game that proves the gaming industry has a bottomless pit of failure to plumb. Skull and Bones — or as I like to call it, "Crash and Burn" — has finally launched in 2024, after years of delays, promises, and hype. And what do we get after waiting for what feels like a century? A game that’s as empty as a pirate’s conscience and about as fun as walking the plank. Ubisoft, what on Earth are you doing? This was supposed to be your grand swashbuckling adventure, your redemption arc. Instead, you’ve somehow managed to sink the entire ship before it even left the harbor.
Let’s start with the most glaring problem: the gameplay. You’d think a game about pirates would have a bit of excitement, right? Pillaging, plundering, naval battles, adventure on the high seas—all that romantic pirate nonsense. But no. Skull and Bones delivers the most monotonous, repetitive gameplay I’ve seen in years. It’s like Ubisoft took every pirate stereotype, sucked all the fun out of it, and then handed us the lifeless husk. Sail here, collect some wood and cloth (because nothing screams "pirate fantasy" like gathering crafting materials), fight a few copy-paste ships, and then do it all again. And again. And again. It’s a never-ending cycle of busywork masquerading as gameplay. There’s no sense of freedom or discovery, which is kind of, you know, the whole point of a pirate game.
The ship combat, the supposed centerpiece of this whole disaster, is about as thrilling as watching paint dry. I mean, they had one job: make sailing and naval combat fun. How hard can it be? You’ve got cannons, ships, and the open sea. And yet somehow, Ubisoft managed to make every naval battle feel like a tedious chore. It’s a clunky mess of aim-and-shoot mechanics with all the intensity of a polite fencing match. There’s no depth, no strategy, no skill involved—just point your ship at the enemy, spam some cannonballs, and hope the AI is dumb enough to let you win. Spoiler: it usually is. And heaven help you if you’re expecting some kind of thrilling, cinematic sea battle. This ain’t Black Flag, people. The battles here are as soulless as the rest of the game.
And let’s talk about exploration — or rather, the complete lack of it. This is supposed to be a massive open-world pirate adventure, but it feels like you’re sailing through the world’s most boring amusement park. Every island, every port, every location looks the same. Sure, there’s some pretty water, but once you’ve seen one patch of ocean, you’ve seen them all. It’s a game world that feels like a lazy afterthought, where the only thing you discover is how little effort was put into making it interesting. You’d think a pirate game would at least have some treasure hunts, mysterious islands, or hidden secrets. Nope. Just more of the same rinse-and-repeat fetch quests and pointless naval skirmishes.
Now, let’s dive into the story. Oh, wait—there is no story. Or at least, not one worth mentioning. Skull and Bones is about as narratively rich as a fortune cookie. There’s no real character development, no memorable plotlines, no reason to care about what’s happening in the game. You play as some faceless pirate captain with the personality of a soggy cracker, doing piratey things for reasons that are never fully explained. There’s no overarching motivation, no big bad to defeat, no compelling reason to keep playing. It’s a sandbox without any toys—a world that’s as lifeless and empty as the game's servers will be in about a month.
And speaking of servers, let’s not forget that this game was built around the live-service model. Because of course it was. Why just make a complete game when you can instead nickel-and-dime players with endless microtransactions and seasonal content that no one asked for? Want a cool-looking ship? That’ll cost you. Want to customize your pirate captain’s hat? Pay up. In typical Ubisoft fashion, they’ve crammed as many ways to drain your wallet into the game as they possibly could, all while pretending that Skull and Bones has long-term potential. Spoiler: it doesn’t. They can add all the “live content” they want, but no amount of overpriced cosmetics is going to make this game any less of a bore.
And you know what’s the cherry on top of this garbage sundae? The delays. This game has been in development for over a decade. We’ve been waiting since 2013 for Ubisoft to deliver on the promise of an epic pirate game. The delays, the reboots, the constant assurances that “we’re making something special.” And what did we get after all that time? A game that feels like it was thrown together in six months by a team that’s never played a pirate game in their lives. It’s mind-boggling how a project with this much time, money, and potential behind it could end up being this underwhelming.
Honestly, I don’t know what Ubisoft thought they were doing here. Maybe they thought they could ride the wave of pirate popularity that Sea of Thieves sparked. But Sea of Thieves has charm, it has personality, and most importantly, it has fun. Skull and Bones is just an empty, bloated mess that mistakes grind for content and tedium for depth.
So here’s my verdict: Skull and Bones is dead in the water. If you’re thinking of setting sail on this shipwreck, do yourself a favor and don’t. There are plenty of better games out there that respect your time and money. And if you really need a pirate fix, just go play Black Flag again. At least that game understands what makes pirating fun.
Until next time, stop playing bad games.

I started playing Marvel Snap because of the Marvel property, but I'm staying because it's the first card game I've actually enjoyed playing. I find deck building to be annoying and frustrating in most other games I've played because of the sheer number of cards needed to fill a deck, and understanding how much of what kind to build in for which strategy etc. is just a lot to have to learn.
By contrast, Snap only allows 12 unique cards in a deck. Each card has a unique, thematic effect and are generally designed around a few core play styles. With the games themselves being quite short, it's really easy to play around with deck composition and quickly find out what does and doesn't work.
Snap has both really good and really shitty monetization, though. The good is that there are plenty of ways for free players to keep up. The bad is that their prices for most things are exorbitant except for the season pass. The good thing about the season pass, however, is that it's way easier to complete than other season passes in most other games.
Honestly, if someone made a game based on Snap's gameplay and was able to keep it afloat with less shitty monetization, I'd probably switch in a heartbeat. As it stands, this is the only ccg that really calls to me (digital or otherwise), and I'm really enjoying playing it.

I don't know why I forgot about my short obsession with the fatal frame game. I was watching every gameplay I could find of the fatal frame game and was deep into the lore. I can't personally play horror games cause ya girl is a scared of the supernatural yes I believe in the supernatural.
Love the series cause it talks about grief and loss in a way that I could not fathom deeply enough. I love it to bits. My favourite would be the fatal frame 2, 3 and 5. See how Miku is in half of them, but like my ultra fav is 3. The story line and ending, gah, it shooked me to the core.
One thing for sure I don't like is how goonery fatal frame 4 is lmao like you're out here fighting ghosts in bikinis?? 😔😔 running with kitten heels??? Lmao. Personally I don't like how uhm.. sexualised the characters are sometimes. But other than that fatal frame 4 lore was an interesting one, and the ones easier to follow imo.

You know what would be a cool though tense Monster Hunter game? It being a more research game instead of hunter. Essentially PLA for MH, where it's more stealth, survival, and some elements of horror game. With you going out to study and learn monster behavior, with people having very little knowledge and they're actually terrifying, and you're going out with minimal to no combat skills.
All you can really do is try being a ninja researcher, sneaking around, making use of the items you have, and throwing them out to discourage or distract monsters. And if you're successful, you'll get to see new animations, terf wars, more MH lore, the world, and ecology; and a lot of tense moments as these are huge, deadly creatures that can easily overpower you.
And maybe as you level up, you could either go more hunter and adopt some protective tactics, or maybe you wind up befriending a monster and they'll guard you or let you ride them for a quick escape.
Not sure if it'll ever come to be, but I love speculative Monster Hunter ecology, and potentially getting some of it confirmed and having a game circle around it would just be awesome, and getting more of the world and how beautiful and scary nature is, and I think it'd be a really cool but also terrifying game.
Tumblr media
To add to it, they can bring back underwater sections to study underwater fauna, which so far, is the least covered of the monster biomes, and I would love coming back to underwater just to see more as they only scratched the surface of what exists and some of the most diverse life is underwater. Also, these monsters can move much faster than you and you'll be more limited in what you can do. Delightfully terrifying.
Tumblr media
And ultimate top tier post game content/challenge mode could be trying to observe, sneak around, and study Elder Dragons. Can you just imagine trying to study Fatalis' ecology? The most mystical of all Elder Dragons and it's only known purpose for living is just ending all of humanity. It'd be hard to study, but I would love to see what Fatalis does when they're just vibing.
Tumblr media
This is a speculative Monster Hunter game I'd love to play, and I'd be so scared and tense, but it'd be soooo cool just having something that delves more into research than fighting and be more stealth oriented.
