Walking in #downtownconcord last night outside the @cabarrus_creamery with @imahoot93 and I caught a glimpse of something sunny, and had to investigate what it was under this plant, inside this planter, that caught my eye. When I saw what it said I knew it was a sign. If you know or not, last week I choose to do the most spontaneous thing in my life, and quit my pretty full time job, to ensure my semester at school ended strong, and to give myself a break after all these years. Well, I'm good, I'm covered, and this bit of sunshine at night really brought some peace to my ever questioning mind. Everybody smile! Elle met the giant turtle in Bicentennial Square in Concord today. She wasn't particularly impressed though it did make for a cute photo op. Afterward Elle joined me in my downtown studio to meet a client. Elle greeted the woman calmly and as we sat to chat, Elle lied on the floor at the woman's feet. "I love that she is on my feet" the woman said smiling. Each day I see more of this girl's potential unfolding. When a dog has been in a shelter for 6 months they not only need to burn off some pent up energy, they also need some calm decompression time. It doesn't take much to get a two year old dog excited. To get one to be calm and relaxed...that is everything. We are comited to setting this girl up for success in her forever home. Super proud of this girl today. She sat with me at Panera and was so calm and relaxed. Took a trip to Osbourne's Agway and we bought some training treats Then did a 3 mile walk through downtown Concord. She encountered dogs and people and smells and sounds, everything!! Everyone we encountered marveled at how well behaved and sweet she is. Now she's snoozing. Such a super pup!! Pretty sure Ellie now thinks she owns the city of Concord. Day three with our foster pup. She is finding her voice. I asked her to sit and stay for this photo and she woofed and grumbled. Note to self, let Ellie have her morning zoomies in the backyard before we take our structured walk. Ellie is about 2, still a very playful pup. Her play comes in a bullet like fashion where she zips and zooms, does a few pirouettes, dances a bit on her hind legs, comes dangerously close to wiping me out and then collapses in the shade grinning ear to ear. She now wants me to go back to bed. She is definitely food motivated so we'll start some training with her soon. Nothing tires a pup out more than working the mind. Day Two with foster pup Ellie. I was up early and was about to head to the gym, but Ellie was up too, so instead of working out on the stair master Ellie and I took a walk. Oddly enough, we walked all the way to my gym and back... a good 3.6 miles. We walked through downtown morning traffic, she encountered cars, people, an ambulance, garden workers and runners. She walked on side roads, sidewalks, crosswalks, under a highway bridge and through a parking lot. We stopped at the State House and practiced sit, stay while I took her picture on the front steps of the capital building. She never flinched or reacted frightened of anything in the city. As we walked down my neighborhod street she met one of my neighbors, laid down and placed her head on his foot. She truly is delightful. Young and impish at times, very much a bulldog. She has a burst of zoomies and then she's flat out.
