Travel tip: If you're going to a big city for the weekend and want brunch, plan on a) making reservations before your trip, b) waiting 1-2 hours for a table or c) going somewhere that doesn't look very popular but will fill your tummy.

In this case, we didn't do a or b and thought we were stuck with option c. Rhine is a yelp-er to the max and sometimes gets analysis paralysis when trying to pick places to eat. We had walked up to some of Yelp's top 4-star brunch picks, but quickly changed our mind when we were told the wait times. I was getting hungry, and Rhine knows we were entering the danger zone. We like to avoid a hangry Daniella at all costs. We saw this quaint lil' spot on the corner and hustled to the hostess who seemed to be doing... nothing. She was quick to sit us down in the courtyard, per our request (there was no wait AND we had our choice of where to sit! #winning). Knowing Rhine and his yelp-ing, I figured he wanted to look at the reviews and pictures of the menu items before ordering; however, I challenged us to hold off and "make our own opinion about the place." We did, it was great. After we left, Rhine snuck on Yelp! and found that it was actually rated 4 stars on Yelp. #doublewinning

Muffuletta and jambalaya were both on our list of things to eat in NOLA, and we were able to kill two birds with one stone.

We read through the restaurant's history blurb on the back of their menu which sparked Rhine to ask "Why is LA called Louisiana?" I said it was something to do with Louis and Clarke, but then, I thought that didn't quite sound right. So, in an effort to get re-educated, we watched this YouTube video before writing this post. One of the things the video taught us was that Louisiana was named in honor of French King Louis VIV. Also, Napoleon was the seller in the LA Purchase exchange and practically gave away the land for a mere $15M (or $18 per sq mile).
