I'm going to speak my truth. the more you look at them the less they look like each other
#their hair and outfits are similar but still really different. like 2 things in the same genre#I don't know how to really explain it#I say this as a fan of the guy on the right. their vibes are just really different#their designs probably have similar inspirations I wouldn't be surprised but#they look like creatures specialized to different habitats#like. take their shoes. one pair is gumshoes (these shoes are why detectives are called gumshoes)#vs the sneakers which are also rubber-soled for quiet movement but you can't tell me they have the same vibe#coat on the right has very different vibes (guy who likes trench coats and dusters)#hard to tell just from pictures but I think the style of the flappy bottom part is different#see how looker's parts? I don't think the longer one parts at the bottom#it's got like another piece of fabric right there#more traditional trench coats are like that for the increased movability + protection from the elements#it might have buttons there to be able to open it up too? but I have no idea#looker's also isn't double breasted#though maybe that's a stylization thing? it's a little hard to compare cartoon vs real life with outfits#cries I want a trench coat and a duster coat I don't have either#3 am autism ramble about clothes. kind of funny

there's a lot going on in this image but I really must draw attention specifically to harper's Fabulous Hat.
#em is posting about sharpe#sharpe#other things in this image that enthral and delight:#the way harris is evidently trying to get fancy - his coat is a fashionable cut but it's a bit too small for him still#but also he is still the same old sillyfellow as evidenced by the fact that he is still wearing his shirt open like that#his funny little stance that looks like a fashion plate...#and these are a little less obvious in this photo but hagman's trousers have LACING up the sides of the legs#the shoulders of his coat fit but the sleeves end maybe six inches above where his shirt-cuffs are#and then harper... wow what a Look#the purple coat the double-breasted waistcoat the trousers tucked into the boots the GLOVES the HAT...#iirc we don't actually see him wearing said hat in the episode... wonder if there are photos of it out there somewhere#doing a bit of a look-around at the episode again on this hat hunt and Augh My Sorrow#it's so Getting The Gang Back Together... their little cheerfulness... sharpe and pat hugging... and then The Rest of The Episode :|
