The Young Lord's Bride (Part 2)

Part 1

Tahomaru brought you, Sesshomaru, and Jaken up a small hill and across some paths running parallel to a river.

"Some people say this river is haunted, but I don't believe them," Tahomaru said.

You looked to the river. You couldn't sense any demonic presence around it, and as you glanced to your older brother, you could tell that he also sensed nothing.

"All that child does is babble, babble babble," Jaken complained as he rode attached to Sesshomaru's fluff.

"If you continue to babble yourself, I will slay you," Sesshomaru said flatly and moved in such a way to shake his fluff.

Jaken screamed. "I'm sorry, Sesshomaru-sama! Please don't throw me offf and leave me behind!"

You were glad that you were riding on the horse with Tahomaru, as it gave you some distance from the circus of your brother and Jaken that you had to put up with all the time. It made you smirk a little too how Sesshomaru's eyes constantly glared disapprovingly at you for sharing a horse ride with an unfamiliar human boy.

Tahomaru led you to the gates of a large fortress. The guards, recognising him, allowed him entry. Upon hearing that you, Sesshomaru, and Jaken were his guests, the guards did not protest for all of you to pass through the gates, though they did look at you with suspicious eyes. It was no surprise and you were not offended. It wasn't every day that the human guards would see a pair of silver haired demons dressed in elaborate armour and fur. And then there was Jaken ...

"Don't mind them," Tahomaru said as you passed by the guards. He then rode over to the stables to return the horse you two were riding. The stableman also gave an odd look to you, to which Tahomaru raised an eyebrow, as if to say that he had no right to comment on who his guests were.

As Tahomaru handed over the reigns to his horse, Sesshomaru silently came behind you and grabbed your arm.

"We are not here to have fun, y/n," he said in a low voice.

"I know, Aniue. Calm down."

Sesshomaru stared at you, about to say something more, before Tahomaru's perky voice broke the silence.

"Follow me, and we'll have ourselves something good to eat!" He smiled and proudly led you inside.

Tahomaru brought the three of you to large dining area. "Make yourselves comfortable. The staff has already told my father that we have some unexpected guests." He turned around to glance back at Jaken. Not wanting to see the unfamiliar creature in his eyesight for too long, he rose his gaze to you. "Does that little demon normally dine with you and your brother?"

"No," Sesshomaru gave his unsolicited answer on your behalf

Jaken squawked and dropped his jaw.

Tahomaru raised an eyebrow. "I was asking y/n, but thanks."

Sesshomaru glared at him.

Tahomaru turned back to you. "Well, I guess it can't be helped. We'll have to dine with your little companion. I don't really want to ask any of the guards to babysit it, so it's probably best to keep it around and let your brother tend to it."

You smiled a little. "That sounds good."

Sesshomaru hummed disapprovingly under his breath. It was getting more and more difficult for him to keep his tongue at bay. However, at least Jaken was remaining silent, which was a miraculous feat onto itself.

All of you sat down at the table, Tahomaru assigning the seating positions. He wanted you beside him and Sesshomaru by the edge of the table next to a corner, so that the Demon Lord could keep an eye on Jaken, who was to remain more or less unseen and unheard at the corner. Sesshomaru was obviously very displeased with the placement and kept a sharp stare towards you that was basically saying "you will pay for this" in the gleam of his eyes.

Before you knew it, various servants came in to fill the table with food. Per your request, there was plenty of raw meat, as well as other cooked options and vegetable-based options that Tahomaru reminded you that you could try if you wanted to. He added with a laugh that he really liked food and could give some recommendations, and proceeded to talk about the farms that the stir-fried vegetables came from.

"You wouldn't believe it, y/n, but before I was born, we never had the vegetable harvests that we do today," Tahomaru ranted on. "Our land used to flood all the time and we suffered from major crop deaths --"

The door to the dining room slid open. Sesshomaru's gaze shot out of the corners of his eyes in the direction of the entrance.

"But my father, Daigo Kagemitsu, changed everything and saved the land --" Tahomaru continued proudly.

"Tahomaru, are you already bragging about that story?" the voice of Tahomaru's father asked from the door. He smirked a little, obviously enjoying the praise he was getting even though he socially had to pretend that it was unnecessary.

Sesshomaru's eyes narrowed very slightly at the sight of the middle-aged man. There was something not right about his aura. It wasn't demonic, but it also wasn't that of a typical human. Sesshomaru didn't know "what" he could call him, and that made him frustrated.

Tahomaru snickered a little. "I'm not really bragging, Chichiue. I'm just trying to tell our guests the truth." He proceeded to introduce you and Sesshomaru to his father.

Daigo Kagemitsu seemed to catch on to Sesshomaru's suspicious eye towards him. His face hardened very slightly before he sat down. "I must say, I've never found myself dining with demons before."

"They're not like those demons that cause trouble," Tahomaru said. "They're different, more elegant kinds of demons --"

"Don't rant so much, Tahomaru," Daigo said. His sharp, dark eyes looked towards you and then to Sesshomaru. "There's no need to be wearing armour. No battles are about to happen here."

"It's what I always wear," Sesshomaru said cooly.

Daigo straightened his shoulders some. "Very well. It's your decision," he said, taking one last look at you before he began to eat.

Demons, Dungeons & Dragons...Oh My!

Now that I think about it...both Inu-Oh and Dororo deals with terrible dads making Faustian deals, demons/spirits/supernatural, and the after-effects of the Heike wars. Oh and most importantly...biwa priests.

Mxtxtober day 5: Anime crossover

After watching Dororo 2019 I have a few thoughts:

1: Hyakkimaru is adorable. He's just so awkward and sweet at times. Him nuzzling everything is literally one of the cutest things I've seen.

2: I refuse to acknowledge Jukai, Nui, and Tahomaru's deaths. They survived the fire, and started over, together. Jukai and Nui also gradually fall in love because I think it'd be cute for Hyakkimaru's two mamas to get together. Everyone still THINKS they died, so when Hyakkimaru and Tahomaru see each other again it's awkward, and a surprise. I just want the brothers to love each other!!

3: my fiance and I kept comparing the series to Inuyasha. I think it would be interesting to see a crossover between them. I think Inuyasha would throw Hyakkimaru for a loop lol. But a few interactions I really want: Hyakkimaru and Miroku (I like to emphasize Miroku's kindness and intelligence more than his negative traits, and I think he'd find Hyakkimaru interesting, and Hyakkimaru could have some interesting thoughts on both of them being cursed. however Miroku being a bad influence on Dororo is also extremely funny), Hyakkimaru and Kikyo (both are "half" people. He has half his body and is working to get it back, Kikyo has half her soul, and literally can't get her soul back without killing Kagome. Despite typically being quite gentle and kind, especially to children, she's also supportive of Hyakkimaru's revenge. Honestly I ship it and think it would be cute AF for them to get together. I refuse to ship him with Dororo, because she's a child when they start hinting at it... Nah, that's his kid sister.) and finally, Dororo and Rin (a girl their age to play with! They are both tough little girls who may witness horrors but remain cheerful and love their freakishly violent companion. Also the image of them meeting Sesshomaru would be incredible. He's NOT a good demon, but he doesn't gaf about humans one way or another. I wonder if Hyakkimaru would have enough self preservation to NOT try and fight him)

4: I really got the vibe that Dororo is now in charge of, at LEAST that village at the end (especially since she's the one funding the rebuild) and I, personally, think that's hilarious, so I go with it immediately. I want 10000 stories about Dororo being treated like an authority figure while being like 8, I love it.

5: Hyakkimaru, how did you FUNCTION??? He had a PROSTHETIC SPINE??? First of all: how??? I have to handwave that with weird magic shenanigans because WHAT?

I'm getting nostalgic again writing for fandoms like Slugterra, so I decided I'm going to write some Dororo works! which was the fandom that got me into writing in the first place.

I'm going to wait for the orders to close to start working on these, but here's a small list/preview of the jobs I'll be doing.

Mostly Captain America/MCU and FMA these days, but I also have fics on AO3 for Daredevil, Dororo, Star Wars, Supernatural, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Make Me Whole (Captain America), Back from the Brink (Dororo), of skulls and secrets (FMA), Shards of Me (Captain America), and Your Arms Feel Like Home (Captain America)

Still boggles my mind every time I realize my second-most kudoed fic is the random Dororo fic I wrote for a Christmas present one year @_@

5. Do you respond to comments?

I make a point to reply to every comment I can! ^_^ I just really want to share my stories with other people and talk to them about them!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Hmm...of the ones posted on AO3, I'm not sure. Maybe "Rejected?" It's an FMA fic where Ed gives up his life to bring Al's body back, so that's pretty angsty ^^'

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Pretty hard to beat the ending of Make Me Whole ;) Reunions of old friends, heartfelt confessions, sobbing on each other's shoulders, followed by an overjoyed birthday celebration! The "epilogue" of sorts of Shards of Me might be even happier, though, because you get to see how good things turn out for them a few years down the road <3

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I don't think I have on AO3. I did very occasionally on FFNet (mostly from one particularly weird guy who had other issues besides the quality of my fics).

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Nope!

10. Do you write crossovers?

Yes! I love the kind of crossover where, rather than characters from different stories meeting each other, you just replace the characters from one story with the characters from another. My most recent, a FMA/Firefly crossover, is coming to mind - FMA characters replace the Firefly characters and go through the same basic plot as the first episode of Firefly. Another one I'm really proud of is "All We've Got to the End of the Line," where I put the Elric brothers in Steve and Bucky's position, and vice versa.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Not to my knowledge.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Years ago, there was one fic of mine that got translated into Spanish, I think.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Yes, though unfortunately most of the co-written fics I've worked on have not gotten finished before the relationship fell apart :/

But a huge shout-out to @sergeanttomycaptain, who helped me brainstorm my Whole Shards series and even wrote large chunks of it herself, though she's not "officially" a co-writer.

14. What's your all-time favourite ship?

My longest running OTP is Royai <3 I'll always love them and what the understated subtlety of their relationship has taught me. A very honorable mention goes to Staron - though admittedly, a lot of the stuff I love most is stuff I had to come up with myself because of how the canon ruined Sharon's character -_-

15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

Years ago, I started writing a Haibane Renmei fic with a full cast of OCs, just because I wanted to explore that world more and try my hand at writing a story even halfway as uplifting and wholesome as that. Unfortunately, there was never really any plot to speak of, so while I really like the characters I came up with, I have no idea where to go with it, and probably never will because I have too many stories to write that I do know what I want to do with. Alas, Kabe the Sin-Bound Haibane will probably be consigned to the dust forever.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I think I'm good at writing endings, and judging from people's reactions, I'm pretty good at making people cry! But like...in a healing/comforting sort of way. I also think I have the strength of tenacity (or stubbornness, if you'd rather), to finish what I set out to do even if it takes a really long time.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Fights/action scenes. Intentional humor. Differentiating dialogue/thoughts so it really sounds like the character.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I'm always paranoid about doing that, even if I have a decent enough grasp of the language that I'm completely sure I know what they're saying ^^' But then, I'm the kind of person who will write something in English, my native tongue, and then second-guess whether that's actually the way to say it or whether I sound like an idiot. I'm trying to loosen up about such things, though, because more diversity in a fic makes it more fun.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Final Fantasy X. I started writing a novelization of the game before I even knew what I was doing was fanfiction!

20. Favourite fic you've written?

Ohhhh, that's really hard to narrow down. But one of the fics that's nearest and dearest to my heart is the fic I'm currently in the process of posting, Take Me In. Please consider reading it if you like Captain America!
