Dororo (2019) sure did a thing in having the first “oh no, is the main character gonna turn into a demon” episode followed directly by the “not all demons are evil and some have the capacity to be good” episode.

After watching Dororo 2019 I have a few thoughts:

1: Hyakkimaru is adorable. He's just so awkward and sweet at times. Him nuzzling everything is literally one of the cutest things I've seen.

2: I refuse to acknowledge Jukai, Nui, and Tahomaru's deaths. They survived the fire, and started over, together. Jukai and Nui also gradually fall in love because I think it'd be cute for Hyakkimaru's two mamas to get together. Everyone still THINKS they died, so when Hyakkimaru and Tahomaru see each other again it's awkward, and a surprise. I just want the brothers to love each other!!

3: my fiance and I kept comparing the series to Inuyasha. I think it would be interesting to see a crossover between them. I think Inuyasha would throw Hyakkimaru for a loop lol. But a few interactions I really want: Hyakkimaru and Miroku (I like to emphasize Miroku's kindness and intelligence more than his negative traits, and I think he'd find Hyakkimaru interesting, and Hyakkimaru could have some interesting thoughts on both of them being cursed. however Miroku being a bad influence on Dororo is also extremely funny), Hyakkimaru and Kikyo (both are "half" people. He has half his body and is working to get it back, Kikyo has half her soul, and literally can't get her soul back without killing Kagome. Despite typically being quite gentle and kind, especially to children, she's also supportive of Hyakkimaru's revenge. Honestly I ship it and think it would be cute AF for them to get together. I refuse to ship him with Dororo, because she's a child when they start hinting at it... Nah, that's his kid sister.) and finally, Dororo and Rin (a girl their age to play with! They are both tough little girls who may witness horrors but remain cheerful and love their freakishly violent companion. Also the image of them meeting Sesshomaru would be incredible. He's NOT a good demon, but he doesn't gaf about humans one way or another. I wonder if Hyakkimaru would have enough self preservation to NOT try and fight him)

4: I really got the vibe that Dororo is now in charge of, at LEAST that village at the end (especially since she's the one funding the rebuild) and I, personally, think that's hilarious, so I go with it immediately. I want 10000 stories about Dororo being treated like an authority figure while being like 8, I love it.

5: Hyakkimaru, how did you FUNCTION??? He had a PROSTHETIC SPINE??? First of all: how??? I have to handwave that with weird magic shenanigans because WHAT?

Pretty vs not pretty, according to Hyakkimaru

For Hyakkimaru, who recognises the colours of the souls based on how good or evil they are, red being the most terrible of all, when he says the word “pretty” it was more than aesthetic. It is the culmination of all the sufferings he has endured and overcome. The eyes, being the final body organs, complete his physical body in which he’s seen the important people in his life for the first time in colours and shapes. On the other hand, Hyakkimaru’s response is negative upon Daigo’s question while looking at the demons at the hell’s hall in which his own father traded the land, titles and power for him.

Blood Will Tell/Dororo PS2 Cover Remake

Description: A detailed rendition of the original cover for the 2004 SEGA Playstation 2 title “Dororo”, also known as “Blood Will Tell” outside of Japan. It depicts the two main characters, Hyakkimaru and Dororo, as well as the title in way that parodies PS2 covers in a modern fashion.

Hello, Tumblr!!! I’m pinning this post because I am SO proud of how this turned out and I hope all my fellow Dororo and Tezuka Star System fans show up to support me on this one! I own a copy of Blood Will Tell that is caseless, so I really wanted to use the blank case I have and remake the cover for it… So I did! I also poorly cut together a booklet with it for printing purposes to put into the blank case. I don’t have a photo of that though, unfortunately. Regardless, I’m still very happy with how it turned out.
