Meursault: With his affiliation with N Corp in the canon Limbus universe, I wonder if I can fit him into a faction that resembles N Corp. While IPC is not the most cult-ish faction in HSR, I can see him trying to find life in static corporate life. Another idea is that he's also in Doctors of Chaos since his nihilism strengthens him rather than weakens him (this is also why he got the Preservation path). To be fair, he's one of the hardest since he's pretty passive in the game and my unfamiliarity with the source material (The Strangers) made me not really confident with my interpretation of Meursault. I want to make his clothing as formal, rigid, and "corporate" as possible. There are some chains on his clothing to referencing his logo in Limbus. Hong Lu: While I usually stay away from making the sinners with HSR canon characters being too attached, he's the one who actually has the closest attachment with HSR characters due to his role as Xianzhou Luofu vidyadhara. For short, my delulu is that he's supposed to be Bailu's replacement since some of the elders disagree with Bailu as the next Imbibitor Lunae so they secretly train him to replace Bailu only to backfire with Hong Lu escapes from Xianzhou Luofu. His role as Imbibitor Lunae is not even to be a true leader but as the Elder's puppet to be a symbol while The Council will be the one that rules the vidyadhara in Xianzhou Luofu. But for now, I'll write him as "wandering vidyadhara with questionable past with the Preceptors." He can be anything, to be honest. He can be Self Annihilator, Masked Fools, Stellaron Hunter, or even Ten Stonehearts, but I stick to The Nameless to reference his goal to experience the world in Limbus and his source material (Dream of the Red Chamber) though he never encounters Astral Express just like Baiheng. His design is supposed to make him like a walking jade with red as a contrast (also haha red chamber haha red dust get it?-)

Heathcliff: His reference is Wild Hunt Heathcliff but with more proper clothes since he's the sole manor owner now after all of the shithole that happened in Wuthering Heights though you can see his clothes are ragged now to reference his origin before he was brought into Wuthering Height. Catherine has a connection with The Cremators now since HSR doesn't have a multiverse concept in the worldbuilding. I can see him becoming a Memokeeper just to retrieve Catherine's existence even though his opinion about her might be already distorted now.

Ishmael: Her color palette is supposed to symbolize sunset (orange + purple + blue) though I must admit seeing her without blue and teal is weird but since she's a space sailor, I guess it fits too. Her ship crew worked as void song whale hunters at first only to encounter Leviathan and stuck in IX's shadow, leaving her as the sole survivor. The jacket is supposed to symbolize IX since she's IX's shadow now. Other symbols that can be found in her design are stars (especially polaris and ursa minor constellation) since they are usually used as compass for sailors.

don't mind me i'm just dumping my thoughts about them below (so I don't make things looks too long)

They both have an interesting understanding of what a family is. Due to her wiped memories about her past, March thinks that Astral Express is her family, people who love and cherish her. While Hong Lu knows that family is supposed to support each other, his understanding of what a family is is twisted by the fact that said family always tried to assassinate him. March would be baffled when hearing that but also understand that she came from a privileged place where the chance of Astral Express trying to kill each other are least of her concerns.

While she has a healthier life, she has anxiety where she doesn't have another place to go back since she doesn't remember her origin, so she has tendencies to cling to Astral Express. Hong Lu has more or less the same thing where he has an attachment to his family although for a different reason.

Hong Lu has a nihilistic way of living since he knows that everything is futile due to his fate are bind with his family. March treasures her moment because she's afraid that she will forget everything again.

"Everything is futile so I tried not to really have attachment with the world" person meets "I want to cherish everything because I don't want to forget everything again" person.

"Everything is futile but we can do everything that we can before the inevitable comes"

While March can share her way of living with trailblaze path, Hong Lu can be empathetic with her struggle especially since she has amnesia and has existential crisis with her role in the world.

While I can't imagine them having a romantic relationship, I can see them having a deep platonic relationship since their struggle can be interconnected with each other.

I can imagine their vibe is 2000-mid 2010 pop song (i can imagine them hearing Katy Perry for the lols)

Since Hong Lu has a younger sister, he can go along with March easily.

Hong Lu's symbol is his eye, March's symbol is her camera.

(Hongmarch sounds cute tbh. Hongqi (鸿七) (March's name in CN version is Sanyueqi (三月七)) is also cute tbh...)

I might have failed it successfully due to HSR character design is hard (intricate motif, questionable cloth layering, belts, more belts) but I'm enjoying the whole process. I divided the series into three parts, and the second batch (5-8) is completed (but I just uploaded it to Tumblr later because I forgot I have Tumblr lol). People told me that I ended up made something more akin to Arknights character design which is a pleasant surprise. Yi Sang: His design is the easiest out of the sinners since his design consists of a monochrome palette (shades of black, white, and grey). The idea behind his design is that he's supposed to be inspired by traditional Korean clothes with a little touch of Greek design (the white outer are supposed to be inspired by chiton, the owl pin) from Ratio design. The white tail on his back is supposed to resemble a pair of wings with a broken glass pattern. I can imagine The Nine Litterateurs was supposed to be a small group of scientists at first only for IPC to mess them up. Imagine Dongrang ended up at the Technology Department in IPC and Yi Sang ended up stays at Candelagraphos even though he's not completely free since Intelligentsia Guild is getting sponsored by IPC.

Faust: I know we already have a witch-inspired genius on Genius Society (Herta) but I feel like it's a wasted opportunity to not make her a witch with her Walpurgisnacht theme (there's a subtle clock imagery on her hat where the clock hands almost strike to midnight, referencing "witch hour"). Some of the paths that I choose here are supposed to match their personality while the other is supposed to balance the sinners (because we will end up with almost all of them being a dps if I don't balance them). Since she also has a strong homunculus theme, I made her more akin to an alchemist which is where her abundance path came from. Iirc, the angels used roses to ward off Mephistopheles.

Don Quixote: First of all, shout out to @/cloudierrr on Twitter for helping me design her (because I'm bad with the yellow color palette)! I tried to draw "someone cosplaying as a knight" so I wanted to make her as flamboyant as possible. Her clothes are inspired by traje de luces because I love how intricate it is. I ended up making her as Galaxy Ranger since "justice vigilante" stuff sounds like something that Don would do (not that the leader of Galaxy Ranger is La Mancha LMAO). Another faction that I think will fit her is Knight of Beauty. Imagine her being chaotic with Rappa and Boothill tho-

Ryoshu: I know her choice of design is the most out-of-the-place of all of them and I must admit, she's one of the sinners that I don't have a strong grasp on her character (her canto and Edo Star are not yet released, sadly). Her choice as remembrance character is because I noticed that all of the remembrance characters in HSR so far are the one who can appreciate beauty. There's not really a reason for her to be in Elation faction except Aha just wants to troll her (I imagined her using art as a form of elation but eh-). My idea for her memosprite is a monkey spirit, referencing her literary source.
