Things I’d change about Penny Dreadful

Season 4

After her lover and family’s presence help Vanessa to find her value again and the strength to fight Dracula, the path travels to Egypt to uncover Vanessa’s godly origin and fight the forces of darkness in a final battle that will decide the fate of humanity and monsters alike.

Season 2

Dorian doesn’t date Angelique nor Brona. Instead, he becomes obsessed with Vanessa and her rejection. In pursuing her, he approaches the closed circle of her household and unfolds the mystery surrounding her. Being hedonist and indifferent to the world’s fate, he might only start to help her for futile reasons. So it is, Dorian has studied many subjects out of boredom through his immortal life. He may know more than we think.

The ugliness the Creature has outside, Brona has on the inside. She was brought back from death in perfect body conditions, but mentally disturbed. The worst side of her in life, the one who has been feed with hatred by abusive men, took completely over and she sees her other Brona as weak. She has no care for mankind and joins the rising forces of darkness, maybe with the promise that she will rule over men and have her own army of immortal women.

She convinces the Creature to follow her. He has been disappointed by humanity three times already: by his creator, by the theater people and by the Putney Family. He had resource to the bride Victor was preparing for him as his last hope of company, so he joins the ugly and unloved creatures of night, finally accepting this is where he belongs. However, there is one among the people he met who was kind to the bitter end: Vanessa Ives. When he learns she is the final goal of the dark forces, will he be compliant?

And will Brona once she finds out the only man who was ever decent to her is on the other side of the battlefield? What will Ethan do once he sees what his “brother” has done to the woman he once loved?

Season 3

After his disappointment with Brona, Victor relies on Vanessa, who has been both a mother and elder sister to him, and seeks to destroy his creations before they can cause anymore damage. Unlike Lily, Vanessa is a real woman. She is not a romantic ideal he made up as a boy, but she is strong, supportive, and she suppresses his maternal need - friendly reminder that Victor’s most traumatic events from childhood is the lost of his mother. However, Vanessa sees him as a little brother, and Ethan has stole her attention as he does with everyone with his rude appearance and quick trigger, something school boy Victor never had. This adds even more tension between the fake brothers.

I would have to say The Creature/John Clare. I found him very simpering.

What is your favorite episode of 4?

Season 1, Episode 10 not only because it had Sabrina Deana Roga from the ‘Two Girls One Ghost’ podcast credited as one of the writers, but because it gave me Sean Pertwee as a grizzled gay detective and it was GLORIOUS. Also, Tom Payne = Gorgeousness.

What is your favorite season of 5?

Well, considering as there’s only one season thus far, it’s gonna have to be season one (lol!)

Who is your favorite couple in 3?

Dolores x enacting violence against her opressors. No, but for reals, I doubt I could root for any couple but that.

Who is your favorite couple in 2?

Well, if the constant bombardment of my attempt at 50 Wordless Ways and all my Witcher fics on AO3 being Geraskier not clueing you in on just how onboard I am on this pairing, IDK what else will.

Season 2, Episode 10. For that one scene where Ethan and Vanessa have a future together. I will forever weep for all the possibilities.

Seaon 1, Episode 9. It was an episode that grabbed me and refused to let go. It made me think about nationhood and identity and the meaning of being part of a community. 

What is your favorite season of 2?

There’s only one season thus far. So. One? haha

How long have you watched 1?

From the beginning. It had Timothy Dalton and Eva Green as star billing. There was no way I could have ignored it.

How did you become interested in 3?

I didn’t get interested until after Season 1 finished airing and it was halfway through Season 2. I heard that it was a total mindfuck and I was all about that, so I started watching and I think I’ve rewatched the first two seasons at least twice now. I’m so excited to see what Season 3 has in store.

Who is your favorite actor in 4?

Surprisingly enough, Kellan Lutz. Like, I knew him from the Twilight movies and the Immortals movie. He had never sparked anything special, but in this show, I don’t know what is it but I love how he is here. There’s this michieviousness and life? I really like that. There’s a lot of depth to how he plays his character.

Which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5?

Dammit... Er. For the sheer fact that I find comfort in the screams of the dying and the dead and I have taken a lot of joy rewatching it, Penny Dreadful, 1.

Which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3?

Penny Dreadful. Thus far. Westworld is still airing.

If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?

Jessica Whitly. She is such a badass and she has such great style. She loves her kids to a point where it can be argued that it is controlling, but that is only because her ex is a serial killer and she knows she has to protect her cubs. She has a strong, steely grace that I would love to have even a fraction of. Also. Her clothes is just A+. I love.

Would a crossover between 3 and 4 work?

Victor and Dorian. They can be freaky deaky together.

Westworld. Bruh. They have the Joy-Nolan writing duo and that sweet, sweet HBO money. They have the better storyline for damn sure.
