I seem to remember that you watched/were interested in watching Lockwood & Co? If so, I'd recommend the books if you haven't checked 'em out already! Target audience may skew younger than stuff you usually read but they're extremly fun, well paced, full of delightful characterisation and ingeniously funny descriptions/turns of phrase, plus you get to find out what was supposed to happen in the story before Netflix gave it the chop! Loses some points for Lucy's inner monologue being tiresomely mean-spirited about apperances, plus some slightly tedious jealousy drama in book 3, but overall a real joy that made me sad the show ended before we could see some of the later ghosts, ghouls and character moments on screen!

Other fave book I've read lately is Our Wives Under the Sea. Tragic queer horror romance, quite short, genuinely heartrending, I shan't recover.

YES I HAVE READ ALL THE LOCKWOOD BOOKS AS JONATHAN STROUD, MY MOST BELOVED. (The Bartimaeus trilogy was and frankly remains Formative; I first read and loved it as a young teen, then read it again as an adult and went WOW YEAH I SURE MISSED A LOT THERE, GO OFF JONATHAN STROUD LET 'EM KNOW). So yes, Netflix can as ever eat a bag of dicks for canceling Lockwood after ONLY ONE SEASON. Jfc.

Specifically with the Gluttonous Sin of Beelzebub being my favorite Sin of the group (not necessarily in Helluva Boss, but just in general), I wanted to make a ranking list of my favorite Queen Bee redesigns and their creators for really no other reason than I just feel like it. Now, this is all personal opinions and should not be taken to heart by any means, it's just for fun:

#1. "Beelzebub & Bibi" by @gravcore

♡ In terms of an actual redesign of the original, I love how this artist made "Bibi" because, for one thing, they made sense of the originals hair by giving her a ponytail since way too many characters have a mohawk style (Loona included); two, I cannot explain just how much I adore the clothes they gave her. The top is actually insect based and gorgeous, and not some recolor version of Loona's outfit; and third, they made canon Bee her own character rather than a royal because nothing about the OG read "Ancient Sin" to anybody.

♡ Now, in terms of the actual Beelzebub, here, she's legitimately stunning. Rather than a redesign, I can tell this was the original long before the Queen Bee episode came out, and I love how it reads both "70's party girl" and "regal ruler" all in one. That, and the actual bug design aspect and the color scheme. Above all else, I love how they incorporated the lava stomach in her design, too.

#2. "Beelzebub" by @s3tok41b4

♡ This design can best be described as a literal re-imagine of the canon Beelzebub as it shares almost all her similarities with the actual bug aspect to it that it desperately needed. It's legitimately simplistic but still appealing to the eye, futher showing us that Viv was perfectly capable of making something so simple, but actively chose to make it more confusing than it had to be.

#3. "Beelzebub" by @ruinxl0ve

♡ Similar to the first two, this shares both a regal and party girl bug aesthetic with the added bonus of actually being beautifully emotive despite not even having a mouth. I feel this beautifully differentiates the design from the original while also making it recognizable and I feel that it kinda feeds into the original concept that Queen Bee could literally "feel the vibe", hinting to her being an empath in some manner.

#4. "The Three Bees" by @onehelluvatime

♡ Long story short, these are three individual versions of the Queen Bee and her new placing within the Hellaverse outside of the canon one. For more in-depth explanation of these interpretations, it's best to check the blog yourself. Truly, I love these designs not only because of the visual redesigns themselves, but also the well-crafted and creative explanations and backgrounds regarding these characters. I especially like the idea that the hellhounds within society are half-undead with skull-like appendages and facial aspects.

#5. "Spontaneous Beelzebub" by @redd-byrd

♡ I know it's essentially the same as the canon design, but with the small tweaks that were made to this one (the giant "Bee Butt", the added black lines, the actual bug-like wings, the blue-thin eyes), all of them give a more clear indication (at least to me) that this Bee is more higher up than her fellow hellhounds, meaning she looks a lot more like a hybrid thus making her more grand. It's nice how they added these small details for improvement while still essentially leaving the design like its original.

headcanon: in blackwing, bart never let anyone brush her hair because she didn’t like the feeling, the tugging and tediousness, and no one could force her — because she's bart. in order to manage her hair somehow, they would shave it off every month, keeping it in a short buzzcut; the only person ever able to get close enough to do that was osmund priest. the low buzzing and the steady hand movements were one of their older brother & little sister rituals. she never cared for looks, so she took it fine, but the adults cringed (only a little bit, because they never cared for bart) at how it made her look even more like a prisoner than the others.

after getting out she stopped having it cut, mainly because it's a hassle and she can't be bothered; she hasn't done it once in all of sixteen years since. sometimes, when she finds a knot in her hair big enough to be annoying, she cuts it out with the nearest sharp object, and that's why the hair hasn't gotten past her shoulders in length.

do you ever think about the events that led up to a friendship ending, one that you never got answers for, so you have to try to make your own conclusion? the type of end where someone is basically your best friend and you talk daily, then without warning, they suddenly barely acknowledge your existence or completely ghost you.

sometimes i'm reminded of the friend I had that I had plans to move in with and be roommates. we talked daily and were really close (at least I thought) and we seemed to understand each other and get along very well. then suddenly they they'd only respond to my messages with 1-3 words and never sent a message first, when before that it was novels of response and was daily and what we gave was equal. eventually they stopped interacting with me completely before suddenly blocking me with no explanation.

i spent a long time back then trying to figure out why they were acting like this, what I could have done. the only logical conclusion I came up with is so absurd that it still makes me laugh when I randomly remember it.

once in our group chat they asked if I watched the bee movie and said it was their favorite movie. I had not seen it, and didn't know anything about it besides the human woman lead was the love interest of the bee. I told my friend that's not my sort of thing. that human-bug romance makes me a bit uncomfy. I admit I also did poke a little fun at it because that was my response to that slight discomfort, but it was mostly just little jokes with friends. it was nothing bad like me shitting on the movie nor shaming my friend for liking it. mostly stuff like if they try to kiss the bee is so small wouldnt the woman accidentally inhale it? silly things like that.

but they took it seriously. they started explaining why it's so good beyond that weird romance. but I still said that's cool and all but i'm not super interested in it so don't plan to watch it. but i'm glad they enjoy it, though! and that it has a good message. i'm just not a movie person and don't really like watching them in general.

they left the group chat suddenly after that. can't remember if it was the same day or next day. but obviously it was related to that discission, considering it was our last. because that's when they started being super unresponsive and ghosty.

conclusion: they were secretly a bee furry and I accidentally offended them because I said that kind of romance makes me uncomfy. maybe they wanted to reveal that to me and thought i'd make fun of them for it and felt embarrassed. I wouldn't have but who knows. I sure am laughing at them now though. how can you ruin our seemingly very close and solid friendship out of nowhere over being a secret bee furry, or the very least over the bee movie lmao that's so ridiculous 🤣
