So I'm a woman (or something like that) even though I use a male pen name for art, Im 22 years old, 151cm (4'11"), the eldest daughter who has two teenage siblings who are both taller than me and make fun of me for being short. I do not have a profession and I do not go to school due to a disability I will not disclose. Im a lesbian engaged to a butch, we've been together for almost 4 years (our anniversary is in August)

My favorite season is winter because all the bugs are dead and I despise summer because the bugs are alive. Im also really scared of butterflies for some reason. Im scared of winged bugs in general. Ive never seen a cockroach in my life but I'd probably kill myself if I saw one. I really hate bugs. The winters are harsh here but I like walking outside when theres light snow falling at night. Im also a bit obsessed with Christmas lights but I dont celebrate Christmas, I dont follow any religion in general but my family is Muslim so Ive been raised with that. If I could just put Christmas lights in my room all year then I would do that. They look really pretty.

About my ethnicity I think everyone knows Im Algerian already, well Ive only been to Algeria once when I was like 8 years old so I dont really remember anything. All I know is that my uncle would keep telling my dad that I convinced him to stop smoking and that he's eternally grateful for that but I literally cannot remember what I did or said back then so I just pretended I knew what he was talking about. Anyway. Id like to go there again one day. I most likely will go soon in the future so it makes me happy to think about it.

My first language is French and Im somewhat fluent in English but it needs more work. Whenever I speak English I have to think harder about the words that come out of my mouth and I start saying things that dont make sense. But my pronunciation is good so other people just assume Im fluent. Also I understand Derja (Algerian Arabic) when people talk to me out loud but I cant form sentences and respond back so I just answer people in French. I know how to read Arabic script and I understand basic words but again I cant form sentences. As for Japanese I can only read Hiragana and Katakana and a bit of Kanji, and my understanding of the language is worse than Arabic, so I practice by translating Japanese song lyrics, reading news articles and talking with Japanese users online

Honestly I dunno what else to say, I dont really have any special skills or anything like that. Unless you count memorizing all the metro stations in Montreal but thats only because I had to use public transport all the time when I was a kid because my parents never felt like driving me to my appointments. At that point I probably visited every single station because I had to go to many random places. I dont have a drivers license but I prefer walking to places in general even though there are no stores near my neighborhood, but I think it's better for me because I get to walk more. I think I really like the idea of travelling in general but I dont have friends for that, my parents also wouldnt allow me to hang out with friends so it's a bit unfortunate

Oh and lately Ive been enjoying making eggs for some reason, I think Im good at doing that. But I only cook whenever Im hungry and I rarely feel hungry so I dont cook many eggs. I also dont like cleaning dishes so I avoid making huge meals in general. I dont really eat much in the first place but I still like food. I really like going to restaurants too. I just like going outside in general. I like listening to music and talking with people, normal stuff like that. Im running out of things to say so I'll probably just stop there.

i have some thoughts after the first ep of downfall

i really like that they have the deities disguised as human trying to shut down aeor and the beginning with their possible creation and light vs darkness was incredible

but as much as i think the binary message was a cool little touch to make it easier to figure out which gods they are, i kinda wish they didn't do that

for people that dont know exandrias pantheon, seeing those words kind of dont mean anything to them because they wouldnt know what each god is a deity of

but at the same time for critters who know the lore it became very easy to figure out who is whom by the hints the cast and brennan were throwing around without them saying like "oh hi I'm [blank] god"

the raven queen was the easiest solely because we've had more time with her in c1 and other campaigns too since death is kind of inevitable

dawnfather was a slow build and then very much you couldnt ignore that it was him once nick said "it's not dark" like the little mf that pelor is /pos

melora was also fun to figure out because animals are her thing and then she got the most upset when erathis didnt show up like the yearning little lesbian that she is

arch heart was also a slow build up to figure out, they needed to be rigid and play their part so the others could get on board, they couldnt stop themselves of visiting the city of creation, they see beauty everywhere, they're just as much of a little shit as i imagined they would be also /pos

law bearer's envoy (champion?) was easy to figure out because of meloras reaction and also for The Emissary's lines about helping civilization, he was sent to be their salvation, maybe she knows it's inevitable for the city to fall and wants to preserve as much as she can (he might be the one to send out the blue bubbles who knows)

and then we have the everlight, at first i thought ashley was playing ioun, the husband talked about her being a teacher but then you have these subtleties in their lines - asmodeus talking about her not having followers, the dawnfather's care for his sister, her compassion - and everything made sense, even her light being name Luz is just Light translated from some romance languages

then we have the npcs: ioun was easy enough to figure out from the get go, brennan was also very explicit about who she is, and the betrayers were very fun to figure out, we don't have all the knowledge about them all but asmodeus, the father of lies, choosing to be Father Milo and a cleric of the Dawnfather just to fuck with him is an incredible choice, Torog being the torturer but also the most tortured and fucked up looking is such beautiful imagery, and the other two we don't have that much but i assume the halfling is Lolth, since she enjoys the darkest corners and climbing things, while the other one might be Tiamat, just cause it makes sense for me that she would be a heavy hitter

this is all to say that brennan and the cast did a wonderful job in this first ep with the imagery and subtle (and not so subtle) references to each character in a way that fans can figure out who is each person and newcomers can learn their personalities slowly and figure out the dynamics with the time we get to see

because we need to remember, this is bells hells watching this, and many of them have no knowledge about the gods beside a few that they've met their champions, fcg followed the changebringer, orym, fearne and dorian have met the wildmother and the spider queen, laudna has some connection to the matron and they now met a champion and a follower of asmodeus, both of which they havent asked much about the prince of hell

this is as much for them to meet the deities as it is for us to see the downfall of one of the most important cities in the Age of Arcanum

i have a soft spot for homoerotic teenage friendships cough cough hanan backstory moment. but i also really like the comedy factor and the pain. its funny that satoru can recognize suguru's scent after ten years. the way they fight as kids and make up is funny. but it also hurts a lot to love someone so much and carry that with you always. even when youre in those moments of love and its happy it hurts to know that this wont last. i have a lot of feelings about their 'one and only best friend' thing.

Fun fact: The word 'gay' used to mean 'happy or carefree' for centuries before it became re-adopted to refer to homosexual men, and even then, it became a slur.

Nowadays, gay is a reclaimed phrase that now references anyone under the homosexual and homoromantic umbrella. I'd bring it up as being the same pretense as lesbian, but with the whole crimew debacle, it's not what people are focusing on. And like I said--nowadays 'gay' is used as a broader term, even though it's still more associated with men than not.

Words change and shift in definition over time, like it or not. No one definition of a word is ever going to be universal--there are always going to be people who have a different interpretation of the word than you do. The word 'gay' once meant (and still does mean, though not nearly as frequently as it did before) cheerful and jovial. Then it became a slur of hate before being reclaimed by the community it was being used on. Now its definition has broadened, even if the very general definition still speaks by and large to men liking other men.

There's a lot more to it than that, but yeah. While I definitely don't know absolutely everything about LGBT+ history (a lot of the time, I get a bit stressed out about how people in the past were treated), it is something that I will do more research in.

The point is, you can't control how other people identify themselves and how their words are used. All that it does is make it more difficult for people to find words to identify how they identify and makes them much less likely to even try.

Even if you don't understand why they use something like 'bi lesbian', it isn't your role to come up with a narrative about what that person is trying to imply. And it isn't a good mindset to automatically assume that your perspective is more 'right' than them. All that it does is is exacerbate the whole 'us vs. them' mentality, which is terrible because all parties involved are in the same community.

Regardless of your opinion in the matter, your perspective does not deserve demeaning the life and existence of someone else just because they use a word a little bit differently than you. I understand that lesbian is a term that was specifically catered to exclude men, but calling yourself a lesbian does still carry its meaning in strongly implying that you at the very least prefer women over men.

Besides. The people who aren't going to respect lesbians aren't going to care whether people call themselves bi lesbians or not. It's not going to change their mindsets over whether or not they 'deserve' a particular woman, because there will always be people who think that they can 'change the mind' of a self-identifying lesbian, even if she's both homoromantic and homosexual. People are entitled like that. But there are also always going to be people who respect those preferences, as well, because--here's an important thing to remember--not all men are evil and out to get you.

I could go on about this so much more, but frankly, I'm just writing down my thoughts as they come, and if I continue, I'll be here all night. So. Yeah.

I have a lot of thoughts in my mind about this and other tangential issues, but I don't want to ramble on for too long.

I'm going to leave this off by saying that going up to other people, telling them to kill themself, and saying you hope they die in a fiery plane crash will never be helpful to anyone, and it doesn't prove you're right.

I'm going to preface this by saying that i am not an expert in ANY form of poetry, just an enthusiast. Also, this post is... really long. Too long? Definitely too long. Whoops! I love poetry.

If you ask most English-speaking people (or haiku-bot) what a haiku is, they would probably say that it's a form of poetry that has 3 lines, with 5, and then 7, and then 5 syllables in them. That's certainly what I was taught in school when we did our scant poetry unit, but since... idk elementary school when I learned that, I've learned that that's actually a pretty inaccurate definition of haiku. And I think that inaccurate definition is a big part of why most people (myself included until relatively recently!) think that haiku are kind of... dumb? unimpressive? simple and boring? I mean, if you can just put any words with the right number of syllables into 3 lines, what makes it special?

Well, let me get into why the 5-7-5 understanding of haiku is wrong, and also what makes haiku so special (with examples)!

First of all, Japanese doesn't have syllables! There's a few different names for what phonetic units actually make up the language- In Japanese, they're called "On" (音), which translates to "sound", although English-language linguists often call it a "mora" (μ), which (quoting from Wikipedia here) "is a basic timing unit in the phonology of some spoken languages, equal to or shorter than a syllable." (x) "Oh" is one syllable, and also one mora, whereas "Oi" has one syllable, but two moras. "Ba" has one mora, "Baa" has two moras, etc. In English, we would say that a haiku is made up of three lines, with 5-7-5 syllables in them, 17 syllables total. In Japanese, that would be 17 sounds.

For an example of the difference, the word "haiku", in English, has 2 syllables (hai-ku), but in Japanese, はいく has 3 sounds (ha-i-ku). "Christmas" has 2 syllables, but in Japanese, "クリスマス" (ku-ri-su-ma-su) is 5 sounds! that's a while line on its own! Sometimes the syllables are the same as the sounds ("sushi" is two syllables, and すし is two sounds), but sometimes they're very different.

In addition, words in Japanese are frequently longer than their English equivalents. For example, the word "cuckoo" in Japanese is "ほととぎす" (hototogisu).

Now, I'm sure you're all very impressed at how I can use an English to Japanese dictionary (thank you, my mother is proud), but what does any of this matter? So two languages are different. How does that impact our understanding of haiku?

Well, if you think about the fact that Japanese words are frequently longer than English words, AND that Japanese counts sounds and not syllables, you can see how, "based purely on a 17-syllable counting method, a poet writing in English could easily slip in enough words for two haiku in Japanese” (quote from Grit, Grace, and Gold: Haiku Celebrating the Sports of Summer by Kit Pancoast Nagamura). If you're writing a poem using 17 English syllables, you are writing significantly more content than is in an authentic Japanese haiku.

(Also not all Japanese haiku are 17 sounds at all. It's really more of a guideline.)

Focusing on the 5-7-5 form leads to ignoring other strategies/common conventions of haiku, which personally, I think are more interesting! Two of the big ones are kigo, a season word, and kireji, a cutting word.

Kigo are words/phrases/images associated with a particular season, like snow for winter, or cherry blossoms for spring. In Japan, they actually publish reference books of kigo called saijiki, which is basically like a dictionary or almanac of kigo, describing the meaning, providing a list of related words, and some haiku that use that kigo. Using a a particular kigo both grounds the haiku in a particular time, but also alludes to other haiku that have used the same one.

Kireji is a thing that doesn't easily translate to English, but it's almost like a spoken piece of punctuation, separating the haiku into two parts/images that resonate with and add depth to each other. Some examples of kireji would be "ya", "keri", and "kana." Here's kireji in action in one of the most famous haiku:

古池や　蛙飛び込む　水の音 (Furu ike ya　kawazu tobikomu　mizu no oto) (The old pond — A frog jumps in The sound of the water.)

You can see the kireji at the end of the first line- 古池や literally translates to "old pond ya". The "ya" doesn't have linguistic meaning, but it denotes the separation between the two focuses of the haiku. First, we are picturing a pond. It's old, mature. The water is still. And then there's a frog! It's spring and he's fresh and new to the world! He jumps into the pond and goes "splash"! Wowie! When I say "cutting word", instead of say, a knife cutting, I like to imagine a film cut. The camera shows the pond, and then it cuts to the frog who jumps in.

English doesn't really have a version of this, at least not one that's spoken, but in English language haiku, people will frequently use a dash or an ellipses to fill the same role.

Format aside, there are also some conventions of the actual content, too. They frequently focus on nature, and are generally use direct language without metaphor. They use concrete images without judgement or analysis, inviting the reader to step into their shoes and imagine how they'd feel in the situation. It's not about describing how you feel, so much as it's about describing what made you feel.

Now, let's put it all together, looking at a haiku written Yosa Buson around 1760 (translated by Harold G. Henderson)

The piercing chill I feel: my dead wife's comb, in our bedroom, under my heel

We've got our kigo with "the piercing chill." We read that, and we imagine it's probably winter. It's cold, and the kind of cold wind that cuts through you. There's our kireji- this translation uses a colon to differentiate our two images: the piercing chill, and the poet stepping on his dead wife's comb. There's no descriptions of what the poet is feeling, but you can imagine stepping into his shoes. You can imagine the pain he's experiencing in that moment on your own.

"But tumblr user corvidcall!" I hear you say, "All the examples you've used so far are Japanese haiku that have been translated! Are you implying that it's impossible for a good haiku to be written in English?" NO!!!!! I love English haiku! Here's a good example, which won first place in the 2000 Henderson haiku contest, sponsored by the Haiku Society of America:

meteor shower . . . a gentle wave wets our sandals

When you read this one, can you imagine being in the poet's place? Do you feel the surprise as the tide comes in? Do you feel the summer-ness of the moment? Haiku are about describing things with the senses, and how you take in the world around you. In a way, it's like the poet is only setting a scene, which you inhabit and fill with meaning based on your own experiences. You and I are imagining different beaches, different waves, different people that make up the "our" it mentioned.

"Do I HAVE to include all these things when I write haiku? If I include all these things, does that mean my haiku will be good?" I mean, I don't know. What colors make up a good painting? What scenes make up a good play? It's a creative medium, and nobody can really tell you you can't experiment with form. Certainly not me! But I think it's important to know what the conventions of the form are, so you can appreciate good examples of it, and so you can know what you're actually experimenting with. And I mean... I'm not the poetry cops. But if you're not interested in engaging with the actual conventions and limitations of the form, then why are you even using that form?

I'll leave you with one more English language haiku, which is probably my favorite haiku ever. It was written by Tom Bierovic, and won first place at the 2021 Haiku Society of America Haiku Awards

there's a post (possibly a genre of posts?) that i see frequently where OP is mad about self care posts that are like "it's okay if you didn't brush your teeth today uwu" and op is mad because they didn't brush their teeth for a long time and now they have huge dental bills and i take umbrage with their idea that it was tumblrs fault that they didnt brush their teeth and if only people had been less nice to them, they would have known to brush more

listen, i didn't brush my teeth for many years. feeling bad about it didnt make me brush more. knowing that people thought it was gross didn't make me brush more. being shamed and guilted about it didn't make me brush more.

what DID help was figuring out what was actually the barrier between me and doing it, and then removing those barriers, even if they felt silly and like they shouldn't be barriers at all

for example:

PROBLEM: my toothbrush is too big to fit in the cabinet and I can't leave it on the counter, so I have to keep it in my bedroom and remember to bring it with me to brush

SOLUTION: buy a new, smaller toothbrush. i know i already have a perfectly good one that's nicer than the new one i bought, but a cheap toothbrush i actually use is a million times more valuable than an expensive brush i dont

PROBLEM: i dont want to brush immediately after i wake up, it feels gross and makes me gag

SOLUTION: i set an alarm for a few hours after i wake up and do it then. the teeth dont know the difference!

PROBLEM: i hate mint and i hate cinnamon. most toothpastes are mint and the ones that aren't mint are cinnamon

SOLUTION: start buying kids toothpaste. this has the added bonus of i think it's fun and whimsical

Being mad at yourself for not brushing isn't going to help. You KNOW you should be brushing your teeth. People who don't brush their teeth aren't UNAWARE that their dental hygiene is important!!! Posts that say "if you didn't brush your teeth, you don't need to feel ashamed about it" aren't hurting people, because shame and blame don't help people form healthier habits, and frankly, it's weird to pin the consequences of your unhealthy habits on people for not shaming you more!!!

throws his bag down (quietly of course, he's not some brute) and takes out like three different notebooks, his worn pencil case from freshman year, and his glasses

jason slides them on, pushing it up the bridge of his nose as he gets up and searches for the textbooks he needs

he knows its more comfortable and less time-consuming to just study at home, after all he already has loaner textbooks given out at the start of the school year, but something in his heart wanted him to drag his beat ass here and work

and good thing too, because he sees a familiar hand grab a book from the other side of the bookshelf

not that he just knows what your hand looks like, that'd be weird

it reveals your beautiful eyes, ones jason would love to see closer

he smiles at you from the crack in the bookshelf, murmuring a soft "hello"

you think you just saw an angel with the way the warm light crowned his head

but when you offer to help him study??? he thinks he fell in love

ok SO ive been in school and its been schooling, so full on rambles havent been a thing i have time for BUT its friday here now so ill ignore my weekend homework and write for you lol

i do wanna say this, i may have forgotten details on drey or lizzie and i wont be checking the wiki out of fear for spoilers (on ep 94 rn so im almost through it!!!) so if i make bullshit up i apologize dearly

ANYWAYS TIME FOR MY FAVORITE LESBIAN AND DREY FERIN!!! (spoilers for up to ep 94 maybe)

lizzie is such a compelling character, but i think what makes her incredible isnt how shes handled crews singlehandedly (possibly figurative and literally), but how powerful her words seem to be. while gill's speech was what set john off his edge, lizzies was the first to inspire him into change. im pretty sure jazz was talked to by lizzie. yes her actions are loud, but her words are the speakers that carry out her messages! the black rose took her and chip aboard, and while it trained her, shes leaving it back behind her in the past because she doesnt need the black rose anymore (opposite to chip, who wants to get that experience back). she builds herself a story away from the black rose, becoming more a person. shes believed to do the shit that rumors say because of how powerful her words are.

shes so strong now, yet shes not exactly forgiving. while chip is excited to find the black rose, lizzie is the exact opposite. shes happy their gone for the bullshit they went through and is full on willing to kill them to not deal with them. when she sees drey she threatens to kill him if hes still in her view, and he has the audacity to not remember her after all that. god grizzly did so well story telling wise for this

while after the black rose lizzie grew stronger and stronger, it seems like drey kind of grew weaker in the sense that his main tool for his weapon is unrepairable (his arms lol). sure, hes adapted to be able to use his feet for stufff, but i doubt he'll be fine in combat. i honestly hope he can retire in piece (I MEANT PEACE LMAO) but we already know that rufus was still in danger despite being retired from pirating. not to mention, he just like, doesnt remember shit of the hole in the sea (well, most of it). it was bad enough that he cant fucking remember lizzie, and maybe she likes it that way.

honestly, i think lizzie has a bit of a hatred for ferins less because theyre navy and more because shes "been played" so to speak by two of them (i havent actually seen or heard the scene yet, but i cant escape the spoilers of ava and lizzie forever). she loved two ferins, one like a parent (atleast somewhat like a parent) and one like her girlfriend. and she tries hiding up from jay, because maybe she reminds her of ava and can just tell that shes someone who could be her friend. and when she leaves (lizzie would say when and not if for a bit), lizzie will feel broken and betrayed again and the last she needs when theres war sparking soon is feelings of weakness.

anyways, while i could do so much with lizzie, im gonna talk about the things you were bringing up with drey, because yes! it is something i never really thought about, why drey chose to be a pirate. i mean, we know he met captain rose who just had asked him and he said yes. (i ended up looking at dreys wiki mainly cause i needed to make sure i dont wanna bs, but im also going off the video itself) but why? why, when the ferin family has been navy for years, does drey just decide "yeah, fuck it"? maybe because drey considers this captain at the time (quoted from the episode) "An angel in your eyes, he is the sexiest man you’ve ever seen before", or maybe because his old small ship was destroyed by said captains ship, but its truly an anigma. looking at the wiki (ok the only reason ive done it for drey is if there were shit going on with drey in the black sea, i probs would have stumbled into it, so im not so scared for spoilers with him), which by the way isnt always the greatest source but there are knowledgeable people who add shit onto the pages, it mentions how drey set out to be an adventurer and shit, and did hesitate to join out of fear of bad treatment hes faced before, which is kinda interesting. plus, drey tries to yell up to the ship that the boat "was all hes got", so my thoughts are he probably had some rough treatment and pressure (if he was ever in the navy thats probably doubled) and decided to become a pirate after seeing how free this crew seemed, i guess.

as for family relationships, i could have sworn drey said goodbye to jay before he left, or atleast jay mentions it to chip in the humble beginnings ep. i think jay may have looked up slightly to drey, being brave to go against the navy and such (even if it had to be hidden from her dad). they probably werent super close, but i dont believe they had bad blood (besides the fact theyre related to jays dad (joke)). most definitely they would have grown closer while drey was on board the deck. i cant imagine ava being close to drey because probs jay and ava were put in the navy at a young age, but whos to say? id say jayson and may were closer to him when he was younger, but they do grow more distant from the distance (so smart wording cherii), even though jayson and drey would be so much more distant from all the "pirate vs navy" shit. also, i did find on the wiki which says taylor ferin and drey were distant so yeah.

but yeah hes a mystery man for sure ALSO just got to the beginning of ep 97, and the idea thats hes grown slightly weaker shows by how he keeps missing the shots. yeah, its pretty impressive that hes firing a gun without using his arms, but hes at a heavy disadvantage (accdiental dnd opun?) if he cant use them properly. the legendary status he had (not that hed be willing to admit it) has retired alongside him, and he gets to watch his niece become the next sureshot.

My pick is Drey Ferin becaUSE while we don’t know a ton in depth about him, I just don’t see a lot of stuff talking about him in general and I think he’s just a fascinating little guy. I’ve been thinking abt him. Why did he leave to be a pirate? Was he ever a part of the navy? Do you think he had a good relationship with Jayson when he was younger? Did he have a good relationship with his mom? Or May and Ava and Jay? Did he even ever meet jay?

I feel like his background could be really expanded upon and I think it’s SO interesting the way we know hardly any of his motives and I’m curious abt what other people think think :3

No, actually you’re right. When I said it was a good lesbian rep I was mainly talking about Elena, not how the other characters treat her or how they see her identity, it’s very very rare seeing lesbians being represented in a more positive way, not fetishizing or anything like that, and the fact that they do use the word lesbian (not as frequently as I’d like to but still better than never) is a huge thing because most lesbian characters are never referred as lesbians.

After I rewatched some episodes there really are some things that bothered me like those you brought up. That particular scene of “acting gay” I did not really like it, I don’t know if the character who said that (from what I remember it was either Alex or Lydia) was actually supposed to sound homophobic or not. But considering that scene is supposed to be funny I do think it’s just a way to kinda mock her. Also that scene of Penelope saying she can think homophobic things about her daughter because as long she doesn’t say anything to her is okay… That sounded so wrong. It’s not okay. Just because you’re not saying those things out loud it doesn’t mean it’s not wrong.

I’ve never actually noticed Lydia said that because they were white… wow. The part of the pro military I can’t really say anything because that’s the most common thing in american movies/shows. It’s very annoying though.

Yeah about being a great latino rep I don’t think it is, I say that as a latina. It’s still very much stereotyped, which is one of the things us latinos hate about how gringos see us. Tbh I don’t think I’ve ever seen good latino rep in american movies and shows.

Considering the show is still pretty much (from what I know) made by Americans for Americans, I’ve never really expected great rep from it.

the flashback of mary dying/house burning is pretty similar to the canon

we get to see some of sam and jess’ routine while top of the world - carpenters plays (yes thats a bcs reference, leave me alone). they wake up together, eat breakfast, go to the campus, have their respectives classes, lunch with their friends, go back to their apartment, watch something on tv and later order some pizza or chinese food for dinner.

sam never came out to dean because she didn’t think it would do any good, besides that she didn't really think they would see each other again

no need to say dean looked pretty confused meeting sam wearing a silk nightgown when he broke into her apartment

“dude why are you wearing women's clothes?” “‘uh, it's more comfortable” “and why is your hair so long?” “i’m letting it grow to donate to the cancer hospital”

jess knew that sam didn’t come out to her dad but considering the way sam talked about how close she and dean were, she thought sam would have came out to her brother so she looked very confused watching dean calling sam brother/dude/guy/jess’ boyfriend and sam just acting normal

they exchange numbers, dean ask her to call after the interview to tell him how it went, sam asks him to update her about the search for dad etc. everything looks* great

in the moment they find they’re facing a demon, dean would recognize, verbally, that sam's a better demonologist than him (“it looks like sulfur residue, your department” “uh?” “sammy both of us know you’re the demon nerd here, my latin sucks”)

when they’re exorcising the demon and he starts describing how jess died, it’s much more graphic and gory. sam almost throws up

also when sam is reading the rituale romanum, her nose starts to bleed. dean asks later what was that and sam says it was the high pressure but she knows it wasn’t, because everytime she says sacred words she feels some physical discomfort.

lori being much more comfortable with sam cause she feel more connected with the good christian “boy” than the bad boy with a leather jacket and sharp tongue

so there is that moment that lori flirts with sam, but she rejects her cause a) her girlfriend just died and b) lori was saying stuff like “you’re so kind, it’s hard to find boys like that nowadays” (kind of a deal break). after trying to kiss sam and she deviates, lori asks if is sam “a homossexual” and she is taken by surprise and just starts babbling “uh no exactly, i mean yeah but not like that i mean..”

HOME

dean hyperventilates in the moment they park in front of the house

sam and dean having a little argument about how unfair was this demand from dad (and dean) for sam to have the same grieving relationship with mary that they have (“how can you say that? she was our mom!” “dean i know it and i love her for it.
