As you may know by now my friend siraj's fund ( @siraj2024 ) for rebuilding his home has now simply become a survival fund due to how dire the situation is in gaza today.

With borders closed, aid workers routinely targetted by the IOF to the point that many orgs including UN officials themselves have paused humanitarian aid efforts in gaza, and barely ANY of the aid being sent making it through the israeli blockade– the best thing you can do is help people like siraj find the means to be self-reliant and provide for themselves and their families.

Will try to keep it short this time round, so please dont look away.

Due to recent displacement of his extended family from deir al balah because of violence by the IOF, siraj's fund is now supporting FIVE families instead of just the one

This means Siraj is now sole provider for 23 people instead of just the 5 it was before.

10 of them are just children between the ages of 6-12, including 3 of siraj's children and their cousins.

His children are already sick with infections and due to the cramped living conditions in the tents, they are all at risk at spreading illnesses between each other.

With so many people depending on him and much of gaza's medical infrastructure being reduce to rubble, it has become imperative that Siraj be able to reduce the risks for them as much as he can possibly can.

Right now Siraj wants to focus on providing clean drinking water.

This will help ensure that the children dont have to walk kilometers on foot to fetch a pail of water, only to constantly put themselves at risk of more debilitating illnesses like polio and hepatitis by having to drink the poisoned water in gaza for survival.

To do this, Siraj has decided to purchase a submersible water generator and some network tools. He needs YOUR support to make this possible.

Summary- It's finally off-season, and alessia wants you to come on holiday with her. However, due to your job being demanding work, you're a bit hesitant about going. But alessia knows how to get what she wants, and all she needs is acrylics to turn you to putty.

Its not as if you were trying too avoid the holiday you would have jumped at the chance immediately however your job as a firefighter meant it was much harder to get time off works and your station was understaffed so leaving them one man shorter wasn't going to help your co workers or the community.

However, alessia knew how stubborn you were for the dedication you had to your job, but she knew exactly how to get her way. The next day, she went to go get her nails done as now she could have nails without the risk of them being ripped off or accidentally hurting another player when playing. Unlike normal, she got her nails a little bit longer as if you weren't gonna say yes to her holiday wide awake. She knew you would with a bit of bribery.

She began by gently scratching your scalp and carding her fingers through your hair, and it was if a switch was flicked, your body began to relax into her touch, which is when she sprung the question on you "so love i was just wondering if you would come to ibiza with me.. it would only be for a week and it would be good for you" she started still massaging your scalp "mhm i dont know lessi i really want too but its whether they'll give me time off" you say eyes slowly dropping as sleep consumed you.

Well, not so relaxing due to the constant partying, but that's the best part of the holiday, the moments where you forget your responsibilities, and it's just you and lessi, and that's it.

Can we talk about how dangerous petrol stations can be for wheelchair users? Because I feel like this is something that gets overlooked by pretty much everyone.

A lot of Australian petrol stations have a sign somewhere that tells wheelchair users to beep their horn and the worker will come and help you. But not a single station I've been to has ever actually told their workers this is what they're supposed to do, so most just ignore you when you do it. I've also been sworn at by other drivers who thought I was beeping at them.

So you have to get out of the car and assemble your chair - which takes a good minute, but to be able to do that, you need to park far enough out from the pump to allow the space to actually assemble the chair, if your fuel door is on the driver's side, which usually results in you parking in a way that partially blocks the road or is too far for the pump to reach. If your fuel door is on the passenger side, you have to assemble your wheelchair in the road between pumps (and people are often not looking for something as short as a wheelchair user in that environment).

When its busy, navigating around between your car, the pump and the store is also really dangerous, because again, people aren't watching for a wheelchair user (I also have the same problem on my short prosthetics, and I imagine little people would have the same issue). I've almost been hit a few times because people just didn't see me. Pay-at-pump makes this easier and safer because you dont have to go in, but I live rurally, not every place has that option (assuming I can even reach the keypad on the pumps that do).

Then there's getting back in. You have to disassemble your chair again, which can take time. Only about a minute or so, but that hasn't stopped people beeping and yelling at me for taking too long and holding up the line for the pumps when it's busy.

My old work van was fitted with a side wheelchair lift so we didn't have to do the assemble/disassemble bit, but we couldn't use it at petrol stations because the fuel door was on the same side as the lift, which meant we needed to leave a little over a meter between the van and the pump to get out, and most pumps don't have that much reach. a few stations specifically for trucks (as in, big 18-wheeler trucks) did, but that just increased the "people can't see you" risk even more because we were even less visible to truck drivers due to truck blind spots.

It's all well and good to mandate that petrol stations have a disabled parking space out the front, but that doesn't make them actually accessible or usable to disabled drivers. We don't all have someone with us to help, we shouldn't need to. I got my car modified so I can drive it on my own, without the aid of other people, I want to be able to safely put petrol in it on my own too, which, as of right now, depends on inaccessible public inferstructure.

Im still very much trying to figure out life with my disability and how to function and organize and communicate my needs and navigating what I'm emotionally able to accept help with, but in general I need help with housework, cooking, managing my medical care, pushing me in my manual wheelchair, sometimes help using a slide board, and I'm still trying to figure out what things look like on a daily basis. going places with or for me. helping me get in the car, helping me pack a backpack if i need to go somewhere. getting mail, helping clean and pick things up off the floor, organizing medical appointments, making phone calls, unpacking medical equipment. emptying a pee jar. Helping me manage/charge medical equipment. I have a hard time lifting my arms a lot because of really bad neck issues, and i have really limited stamina. Putting drinks in smaller bottles, taking packaging off things. I also kind of need help with dressing and bathing sometimes but I have a really hard time coping with that and so like. That happens when it happens and is what it is. I have some systems for washing my hair without actually getting in the shower. I have variable conditions so things might not be the same all the time, on a good day I might be able to sit up for a while and do tasks, on a bad day it's very hard to bring a drink to my lips.

There's no physically lifting my entire body, but I do need someone who can lift the 50lb largest piece of one my wheelchairs and standard everyday heavy stuff like groceries or boxes of protein shakes. And sometimes my limbs. There's also likely things like reaching and stooping, alas, I drop a lot of things on the floor. I have a lot of allergies and some tasks are more complicated than they otherwise might be, and Im really hoping to find someone who can pay attention to detail and is comfortable working through things slowly.

i have a lot of allergies so memory and attention to detail are important, as is a willingness to wash hands frequently. i have a disorder called mast cell activation syndrome and frankly the precautions i need to take feel absurd

Summary: Reader works like The Salesman, both have a friendship, maybe there is more to it.

Notes: Takes place before S2 and after the end of S1. Grammar mistakes.

If the Salesman had to say it was a different day then he would be lying. It was the a normal day down in the subway, waiting, looking out for the men and women who were his target. To say he was getting boring was a understatment, he craved something different, or at least someone different. He had become so used to the same speech and same fake smiles while working, he was sure part of himself had died long time ago.

"You did not get enough slaps today?" A voice he could point out anywhere asked taking a seat besides him.

"What are you doing here? You know we are not suposs to cross our area"

The person besides him laughted, it was a quiet one, and most likely fake, yet The Salesman found comfort in it.

"Please, like you did not go to my area two weeks ago" You responded checking the peopel who were passing, completly ignorant to him and you, and the danger you two carried.

"That was different, i was ordered to watch over you in case-"

"In case that bulky man tried something? Please, even you can make up a better excuse, just admit you were bored here"

how to start putting yourself first

putting yourself is important for your well being. being a person who always wants to please others and other people happy at the risk of your own is an issue. here are a few ways to start putting yourself first.

set boundaries learn how to say no and don't give in to their pressure when they become persistent. if your friends or family call you late night past your bed time, give them a time frame they can call and tell them you will not answer if its not between those time. yeah you might lose people or people will get offended because you're setting boundaries but that says alot about them. they are mad because they can no longer walk all over you.

ask for help when you need it its okay to ask for help. do not be ashamed for needing assistance, no one can do everything all by themselves without losing their mind. trust me i have seen it and lived it.

treat yourself have you been working hard and really want that coffee? GET IT. you want to use that nice expensive face mask? USE IT. you have been eyeing that purse for a while and you are able to afford it? BUY IT. its totally fine to treat yourself whether its a simple cup of coffee or a nice expensive bag. dont feel guilty because you dont think you deserve it or you could get something else thats cheaper.

take care of yourself eat well, move your body, focus and attend to your mental state and limit stress as much as you can. if that means you cant pick up that shift for your co-worker then so be it, no need to stress yourself more than you need to. finish any work at a certain time, for example, be done with school work by 5 pm so you can relax and do your night routine and get as much work done monday through friday so you can enjoy your weekend. you should also PRIORITIZE REST. your body needs adequate sleep and you also just need to just be still. take a 2 minute break every few hours to stretch and relax if you can without being on your phone.

find a hobby its more to life than work and stress. find a hobby you enjoy and make time for it even if its once a week. you dont have to monetize it either, just enjoy it.

this was just a few ways to start prioritizing yourself. if you cant do all of them then just focus on one each month. its okay to do baby steps as long as you are trying.

Hi there! This is a more elaborate version of a question a lot of people have been asking. The reason boats are she is steeped in a lot of (most likely sexist) history. These days people in the marine industry are not thinking of the pronouns in that way, really, or in any particular way, except as a way to vaguely personify the boat, because that is just how we see them. It's not explicitly granting her feminine characteristics, it's just respecting her totality, as an individual (very few boats or ships are identical to another, they tend to be unique) and as more than the sum of her parts, and from my point of view as a designer, sort of arguing for the need to respect her as an integrated whole where every system affects every other system, not just an assortment of independent systems.

Could you call a boat "he"? You could. I remarked in a couple of other places that if you wanted to make it stick, you'd have to actually make it part of the name, like "Empress Sophia (he/him)". Actually register him like that and paint it on the hull. It would be hilarious. Whether people would respect it or not I don't know, no doubt some would, others might try but forget because the she habit is so ingrained, others would just ignore it altogether. You might run a risk of people just reverting to "it" in confusion.

If I personally just started using "he" for boats in a professional setting, people would find it very weird, but also funny, and would eventually put it down to a personal eccentricity, of which there is no shortage in this line of work. They would be unlikely to follow suit.

As an aside, the fact that calling a boat she doesn't confer feminine characteristics also means that you can say amusingly gender-bent phrases like "she's a big lad" if it makes you happy.

my hometown got a huge influx of venezuelans due to the current crisis in venezuela - they're part of the 5million living in brazil atm. we had previously welcomed a lot of haitians immigrants after the natural disasters of haiti as well years ago

as a preface: i have always been pro immigration and i have never thought that people don't deserve the right to escape a bad home life to try and make it better for themselves etc

along with the haitian + venezuelan immigration, my hometown and west region of my home state has also been bringing people from the northeast under the guise of "we need workers" to run the factory farming butchering plants (big for pigs and chickens in the area)

which is just a flat out lie. we dont need more people - there is plenty of people willing to work. what the companies need is people willing to work for pennies (even for a couple of months) so they go to a far region, make absurd promises about wages and housing opportunities and growth, bring the people here. they get here -> realize how the COL is crazy high due to multiple factors -> racism & xenophobia -> difficulty adapting to the weather (northeast is hot, south gets cold) -> things unravel

and by things unravel i mean:

1) working on a butchering plant is extremely dangerous and has many health risks. if these works get injured temporally or permanently that will put an even bigger strain on the local health care system & public retirement funds

2) cultural differences make it difficult for these workers to integrate, leading to feelings of isolation, displacement, anger, sadness etc

3) the companies are making bank on their underpaid labor meanwhile the city's - that is already stretched thin - public services drop substantially in quality because they cannot keep up with the demand, they did not and do not plan for this. healthcare, schools, transportation, housing, security are just a few of the areas that are going downhill

4) the companies bring the men -> the men save up and bring their families -> what was originally one person becomes 4-6 and the strain on public funds get even bigger

now, i personally know this is NOT the immigrants & emigrants fault. i get this. the average joe however does not see the bigger picture of how the companies are bringing people over dumping them there and then abandoning them by their own luck which causes a myriad of issues

my bff irl is a labor lawyer and he has told me first hand the companies are promising fucking houses. like. it's completely absurd. and they keep getting away with this!

there is plenty of work, but the work available is back breaking and underpaid. local citizens don't submit to that. desperate migrants do. leading to: drop in wages -> rise in COL -> unsatisfaction of local population rises -> far right ideas gets propagated even further

it's such a deep, complex issue, in which government & companies work together to fuck the citizens over who then turn against immigrants

I cant play the game so cant say how accurate my thoughts are on this (and they may change later) but...

Sun I think comes across the way he does because of the situation he's in.

He's struggling with a virus, one that makes him see terrible things, and one that makes him lose control as Moon. He's under a lot of pressure to not get you hurt. The Daycare has probably already been shut down.

Meanwhile you show up and what do you do? You tell him you want to make crafts of all things, before naptime, at a time he cant keep you safe.

So I think while usually he would be accommodating and caring and patient... today he's sick, he's stressed, and your taking your sweet effing time while he's (literally) fighting himself to keep you from dying. He has to do crafts with you, he has to pretend hes happy about it, its in his programming.. but every second counts, and neither you nor he can leave until you get it right.

In the meantime your throwing things at him, your making a mess, your eating the supplies... and of course your doing a bad job. He's programmed to wait until youve done it correctly, and your not even doing that much! Instead of hurrying so you can leave in one piece, your taking forever, putting yourself in harms way, being a pain. Harassing him when he's only trying to help you!

So well, of course he's going to be a bit ticked off. Here he is doing everything he can to keep you safe, and your screwing around!

Imagine trying to save someone whose actively (even if unintentionally) trying to get themselves killed... you might be a bit bitchy too.

Dont get me wrong, I think some of it is him genuinely, he is dramatic and sarcastic, but also... you kinda picked a bad time to do crafts buddy ol pal... can you at least be good at it so you dont die? Great, thanks!

(And while your at it, maybe HURRY UP when fixing the carousel, he would have done it himself but apparently he has to put your life at risk because blah blah management... oh great, your slow at that too... Well, (please) dont die out there! :))

In short: Imagine your traumatized about hurting people against your will and management sends someone in to do work instead of fixing you. Then to make it worse, the worker asks to hang out with you when your trying to keep them away, and doesnt hurry despite your warnings they need to leave. You might be a bit annoyed too.

You mentioned your bipolar diagnosis affecting your rights/freedoms, what did you mean by that? I ask because personally, I have lots of things i need to address, and process, but therapy as a whole just seems like a massive risk. I'm not asking for a "do this/dont do this," I guess, but more of your perspective and experiences.

so in the us at least, it can affect a lot. bipolar disorder is considered a legal disability tho and is protected under the ADA so some of these things u can fight, while others u cant

things like workplace or educational discrimination for example, both are required to provide accomodation for bipolar individuals, but them knowing ur diagnosis at all puts u at risk for discrimination. i know most places wont hire u if they know that upfront, and in some fields (like medical, govt work, ect) outright state that u cannot have a mental health diagnosis like bipd in their field and they straight up will not even consider hiring u

it can affect ur ability to get or renew a drivers liscence, especially specialty liscences like CDL's and motorcycle

it greatly affects ur medical treatment overall. ive had problems with some dr's not taking me seriously because they see i have a bipd dx. i had a bone tumor the size of a baseball in my shoulder for years and when i told dr's it felt like i couldnt breathe and that something was pushing my shoulder out they dismissed me as being a hypochonriac and told me to talk to my therapist. i also need to make a point to appear put together when i see certain dr's or else they take it as a sign im declining mentally

were often at an increased risk for involuntary hospitalizations, especially if healthcare workers believe u to be manic or having an episode. this leaves us more vulnerable to things like guardianships/conservatorships. it is much more likely for judges to rule against us in cases where someone is challenging our legal rights or trying to gain prolonged control. this can be especially dangerous for people in abusive relationships or with abusive parents.

it also counts negatively against us in family court proceedings. judges are much less likely to side with a bipolar parent in custody cases and it's much easier for partners, family members, and the state to seize control over ur children

we also cant buy or legally carry any kind of firearm or other weapons. even knives that are legal to carry for others can become issues for us if the law becomes involved. we're much more likely to be given harsher punishment and prison sentences, and more likely to be mistreated in police custody

overall tho it's about weighing the pro's and cons for u personally. for me with my bipolar, i Need medication or i will go insane and kill myself and so i really had no choice there. u need a diagnosis to access bipolar meds consistently, wheras with something like aspd, u dont need a diagnosis to access treatment so it was easy to keep that one off the books

generally tho, unless ur out here telling ur therapist ur about to shoot up the grocery store or kill ur dog or throw urself infront of traffic, getting hospitalized when ur just seeking average talk therapy is fairly unlikely. hospitals are overfull and the mental health system is way overworked and understaffed and most places dont want to fight with insurances that dont want to cover stays. so u do generally have to be saying some extream things to risk being coded currently, at least in my experience. ive been held for 24hr stays before, but never longer than that. they almost always dont have a bed and so unless ur really losing ur shit infront of them they dont want to have to keep u.

also if u seek out dbt centered therapy and resources they tend to be better about handling hearing the nasty symptoms without getting too nervous. things like issues with empathy and anger management are much more common for patients seeking dbt. it also helps if u tell them these things upfront. this makes u appear more self aware and in control, which works in ur favor and makes it less likely they'll view u as an active threat to urself or others. but it really just comes down to what ur looking for personally
