Drunk reader and boyfriends Kakashi, Kakashi's gotta bring her home and she acts a bit like a brat when she gets to drunk.

Your relationship with Kakashi wasn't so new that he hadn't even seen you drink or anything. He had a few times and for all those times were a little gushy and bubbly and even a bit of a brat, but he was able to bring you to your own home and let you sleep it off. Now that you're newly living together, going on two months he doesn't have that luxury and tonight Tsunade took you out drinking to celebrate the ‘big step’ in your relationship.

Kakashi showed up a little later than he intended to pick you up, wanting to make sure you got home safe and he knew immediately after walking into the room that it was a mistake. You and Tsunade were almost forcing sakura to take another shot even though she’s clearly had enough. 

“C’mon Y/N it's time to go home.” Kakashi attempted to get your attention away from another shot with Tsunade but failed when you completely ignored him and took the shot anyway, no longer concerned with getting Sakura to join either. Letting out an already defeated sigh. “Hey, Y/N.” he attempted again but was once again ignored. Even Stunade was ignoring him. 

Rolling his eyes he crouched down so he was a little more level with you. “Y/N.” he said your name sternly and louder.

Your head whipped around and a goofy smile spread across your flushed face. “Kakashi! Have a drink!” you offered up an almost empty bottle of sake. 

“Yeah! Come on drink!” Tsunade cheered beside you. Kakashi gave her a look that told her to stay out of it. Surprisingly she did and focused on bothering Sakura again who still wanted nothing to do with any of them.

“None of that. Now come on, I'm bringing you home.” Kakashi motioned for you to stand.

You frowned up at your boyfriend. “But I don't want to, Tsunade’s still drinking!” you frowned and tried to argue. 

Shaking his head Kakashi held his hand out for you to grab. “Well she's another beast entirely Y/N and you can hardly keep your eyes open.” He started and waited for you to take his hand so he could get you out of here. But you didn't, you just looked at him and attempted the cutest pout you could muster, and Kakashi will admit it was a good attempt but he wanted to go home, with you, safely. 

“Now, Y/N” he said firmly once again. “Just let me take you home.” He knew you were doing this because you enjoyed it when he had to use the stern tones and dominance tactics with you. Since he was normally calm and nice and sweet this was something you normally did only when you drank too much. But it got your attention and you took his hand. “Good girl.” he said as he helped you to your feet. You were wobbly and didn't think you could actually walk. 

“Kakashi, i dont think I'm walking home.” you giggled as you tried to keep from falling over, mostly due to Kakashi's hands holding yours.

Nodding he let go of you and turned to crouch down again. “Get on.” He instructed. You giggled and wobbly got on his back. Once you were situated he stood with your legs loosely dangling at his sides. “Good?” he asked. You hummed in response and swung your legs back and forth. If he knew all it took was a piggy back ride home he would have suggested that right away he thought.

With a final over dramatic goodbye from everyone you two were on your way home. Kakashi didn't speak much due to your lack of not talking. You told him all about the night and even teased him with a few embarrassing stories the girls had told you. 

Once you had made it home Kakashi brought you into the bathroom and had you brush your teeth and wash your face. He filled a cup with water and handed it to you. “Drink that, I’m going to change and get you some clothes.” He said and left you to sip at the water. It only took a moment for him to come back in just a pair of gray sweats. The shirt and shorts were set next to you on the counter. “You barely even drank the water.” Kakashi stated.

You looked at the glass then to Kakashi with a crooked smile. “I'm not thirsty.” 

“That's not the point.” He said, a bored expression on his face.

You set the glass down and distracted yourself with what Kakashi picked out for you to sleep in before he tried to tell you to drink anymore. The black tank top was good for the summer night but you frowned when you saw the gray shorts. “huh?” you hear Kakashi ask, confused.

“These are ugly, I want the cute ones.” you stated, holding the gray ones out to your boyfriend who was now staring at you like you didn't make any sense. He took the shorts from you without a word and walked back into the bedroom. “Those ones! Thank you!” you cheered when he came back a moment later holding an even skimpier pair of purple shorts. He honestly just took a guess at a color he thought you might like better. 

Kakashi caught you as you leaped off the counter top giggling and he held you still as you changed shorts. “Well I guess you were right, they are cuter.” He admitted. “Bedtime, c’mon” He said, directing you to the bedroom. He pulled the blankets back and you dived right under the covers. “It's so hot how can you want to be under the covers?” he asked, getting into bed next to you, and leaving the covers loosely draped over his lap as he sat against the headboard of the bed.

You turned on your side to look at him with a smile as you curled into the plush pillows and blankets that soon surrounded everything but your face. “It's comfortable.” You shrugged your shoulders. Kakashi hummed in response and turned the side table lamp. “You aren't going to read are you? You said it was bedtime.” You said matter-of-fact. 

He leaned over and kissed you on the side of the head, or what he could manage with the blanket over most of you. “You need to sleep, I need to read this chapter then I can sleep.” He pulled the book from its spot in the table drawer and turned to a page about halfway through. He gave you a side eye when you noticed your eyes on him. You had a pout on your face as you looked at him. “What's the face for?” he asked, flipping the book and holding the page with his thumb.

You sat up and let the covers fall off of you. “If you're awake then you can give me attention, duh.” You tried to sound demanding but really it just sounded like whining. 

Kakashi let out a soft sigh and set his book down the night stand. “And what is it you want me to do?” His entire focus, now on you. Kakashi still wasn't used to this side of you though. You were more outspoken and brattier, he was still getting a feel on how to deal with this attitude of yours and he didn't want to push anything while you were drunk and already not thinking totally clearly.

A small smile crept on your face. “Well there's a few things I could think of.” You moved to sit on his lap, giving Kakashi a full view of your chest, the tanktop not just as much as the shorts to keep you concealed. 

Stopping you from going farther, Kakashi gripped your hips in a firm hold. He shook his head as you stuck your bottom lip out at him. “All these demands tonight, I don't think so.” Kakashi decided you won't get your way with this tonight but he might as well tease you for being a brat tonight. 

 “But Kakashi.” You whined. 

Moving his hands to the back of your thighs, the room around you was flipped in an instant and you were laying on your back. Kakashi hovered over you and held you still as he leaned down to the crook of your back. “Whining and acting like a brat all night.” He said and nipped at your neck and chuckled when he felt you tense under him. He pulled back and mooted some hair down around your face. “Go to bed, be a good girl and we will see if you're still a good girl tomorrow.” He told you and moved entirely from hovering over you back to his spot against the headboard. 

You let out a huff but did as he says and pulled the cover back over you, curling into Kakashi's side as he picked his book back up and began reading. “You better mean that mister.” You said and closed your eyes, soon falling into a deep sleep curled against your boyfriend. An amused smile sat on Kakashi's lips as he continued to read more than just a chapter.

whenever shizune would enter her office and mention your name, tsunade would always let out a sigh and rest her forehead on her hand, thinking what did y/n do now?

she tried to act like it didnt bother her, treating your scratches and bruises is just the same as treating anybody else's. she always found herself scolding you for getting yourself hurt whenever you'd come back from a mission. all you'd do is just sit there and smile at her once she finished. she'd bonk you in the head and call you an idiot then go about her day.

after a while, shizune would come into her office, preparing to say your name and expecting a long sigh from deep within her chest. but it was different. she'd look and sound more worried than before. the way her eyebrows would furrow and her eyes would soften whenever shizune mentioned what injury you had told shizune that tsunade has a soft spot for you.

so when tsunade repeated your name with a shout right after shizune, it confirmed her theory.

"lady tsunade, do you perhaps..have..feelings for y/n?" she asked nervously as tsunade rushed out of her chair. her silky blonde hair following her movements as she sped out of the office and straight to the med bay. "whatever do you mean? feelings? the age gap is tremendous! there is no possible way i'd catch feelings for a girl nearly 30 years younger than me!"

"she's 28, lady tsunade.." shizune trailed off before tsunade swung open the door to where it hit the wall. there you were, laying in that bed which after a while was your very own after coming here so often. you turned to the two women standing in the door and gave them a cheeky grin. "good afternoon, lady tsunade!"

"don't 'lady tsunade' me! look what you did! your arm's twisted into a roll! you might as well become a twizzler!" she scolded, holding your twisted arm. you winced slightly at the pain before she let it drop to your side.

"sakura was out of chakra, so she couldn't do much about it. she gave me a pill, and that was about all she could do." you explained while tsunade let out a huff as she sped over to the cabinets and grabbed a spoon.

"she couldn't at least sling it?" she sneered, sitting down on your bed next to you. you shrugged before tsunade shoved the spoon's handle in your mouth. "bite down. this'll hurt." she warned before placing rough hands on your twists, emitting chakra from the palm of her hands and eliciting a scream from your mouth as you bit down hard on the spoon.

after that, tsunade found herself scoffing and speeding towards the cabinet to grab an ice pack and stuff it on your arm. the look on your face that quickly changed from a look of pain to a blank stare that you gave her surprised her, just like all the other times before. "you look like a school nurse." you comment with a chuckle, not even paying any mind to the swelling pain in your arm.

she scoffed again. "y/n, why do you always come in here? it's been a record that once or twice a week you'd come in here with something new for me to fix!"

"why do you always come to my rescue, lady tsunade?" you ask, your blank stare somehow turning even more blank. tsunade's eyes wrenched wider and parted her lips, her frown leaving her face. "..well how do you want me to answer that?! coming to your rescue is just like coming to anybody else's! it's my job!" she frowned once again, and you only smiled. then you tapped your chin.

"..no, wait, cuz whenever naruto get's hurt, he has sakura to help him! only when the situation is dire is when you come in!" you chirp before looking up to find her giving you a deadpan expression.

she sighed and looked at shizune still in the room. shizune only shrugged before tsunade looked back at your smiling face. "because i'd be bored if i didn't have to come to your rescue every so often.." she mumbled under her breath, cheeks turning pink.

"really? bored? i thought you'd get annoyed of me after a while." you commented. tsunade looked up and gave you a wry smile. "well, i did. i am right now, actually," she answered before her wry smile turned into a genuine one. "but i don't mind." she finished quietly. you blushed slightly then your smile grew.

after a moment, tsunade reached her hand up to your head to ruffle your hair. you smiled like a kid and basked in her attention. tsunade softly chuckled before she leaned down to kiss your forehead. your smile fell as your eyes widened and your cheeks turned a deep shade of red. she chuckled again at your reaction. then she turned for the door, shizune following after her.

before she was completely out, she placed a hand on the door frame and turned her head back towards you, and grinned.

"have a good day, y/n. see you next time."

Hii Hanna!! I told you it would come this week! I had my troubles really, mostly with writing young kids (because kids just dont talk like adults and ahhhhhhh kids hard!), but I hope you like anyway!!

based on that fanart that sometimes makes the rounds of Tsunade adopting Yamato when he is a kid.

Obito is 10, Kakashi is 9, Yamato is 5. Sakumo is alive.

1968 words (i did not quite make 2k, I'm sorryyy)

In all ways but the last legal paperwork Yamato was now accepted as a boy. Tsunade had made sure to provide him with a new name, a new haircut, new clothes and well, in time the legal status would follow too. She had taken great strides right from the get go to make sure he was feeling comfortable and safe expressing himself. That had in fact already been the cornerstone of her raising him before he had openly talked about wanting to be referred to as a boy. 

Tsunade let Yamato pick his own clothes, which was how it had always been. She had picked him up when he was about four, found him in one of Orochimaru’s labs and taken him home. A boy who had the mokuton like her grandfather, someone that was related to her because of that she had argued. Hiruzen-sensei had let her do whatever she wanted and so she took the boy home. 

From the moment she felt like he was comfortable enough with her she let him pick his own clothes, because Tsunade felt the child was old enough to make the choices about what to wear and what not. Now that Yamato had all the new things, a new haircut and a new name and such, she still let him pick his clothes, why not? 

Still, one morning she was surprised when he entered the kitchen wearing a light green dress that had flowers stitched to the side. She had bought it for him as soon as he moved in and when they had cleaned out the closet he had decided to keep it because it was the first gift he’d ever gotten. Tsunade had been flattered, but she had not expected him to ever wear it again.

“Should I not wear this?” he said instantly upon seeing her face. One thing Tsunade had learned in these two years together was that kids were quick at understanding what was going on, even if adults tried to hide it.

“Do you like it?” Tsunade asked in return and crouched down to his height to ruffle through his brown hair.

Yamato touched the soft fabric of the dress. “I like it a lot. It is hot today so I won’t sweat quite as much.” He then smiled. “And it is my favourite thing I own, since you bought it for me.”

She tried not to tear up right on the spot and instead just pulled the little boy into a hug. “Then you absolutely should wear it, my dear.”

And while Tsunade really believed in that, during breakfast together she couldn’t help but think of the reaction of the other villagers. Not everyone was nearly as supportive as their immediate friend groups of Yamato’s transition, they might misunderstand him if he started wearing dresses again. Fortunately, the academy had summer holidays currently, so the only people coming by would be his direct friends and they would not judge him. 

The fear stayed though and so she followed Yamato to the door when someone knocked. Hatake Kakashi stood on the other side, himself uncharacteristically dressed in short shorts and a shirt, he looked as unbothered as he always did, but Tsunade knew he was a kind and nice boy, no matter his general facial expression.

Kakashi looked at Yamato in the dress and for a moment Tsunade thought he would say something, but then he just said “Hi Tenzo”, which was the name for some reason he had decided to call the other boy.

“Hey,” Yamato smiled and then stepped outside. He turned for a moment back to Tsunade and said: “We will play in the garden.” She nodded. They always played in the garden.

For a while Tsunade was busy doing other stuff, mostly mixing up herbs in a little bowl she had on the counter. She liked making her own medicine whenever she could, which was also the reason she had a garden in the first place. Then she heard a loud crashing noise from outside.

Before she even had reached the window she already suspected that there had been an argument between Kakashi and Uchiha Obito, a boy both him and Yamato were also friends with. All three of them would hang out fairly often despite the age gap. Though they remained close friends, Tsunade had seen Kakashi and Obito fight more than any other best friends. It seemed like a game to them.

She looked outside through the drawers and immediately saw the big piece of wood that was now laying right next to Obito, who stood on his feet, both hands in fists. Kakashi was standing too, he had apparently thrown the wood. Tsunade’s eyes looked for Yamato who sat in the grass between them, his eyes darting back and forth between his friends.

“What the fudge?” Obito yelled across to Kakashi. “What was that for?”

The other boy looked back coldly, his eyelids hanging half low as they always did when he was angry. “That was a disrespectful thing to say, Obito.”

“I just answered his question!” Obito turned to Yamato. “I just answered what you asked me right, I didn’t insult you.”

Yamato seemed nervous and just frowned a little, so Obito continued. “You asked me if I’ve ever seen a boy wear a dress and I said ‘No’, that was all.”

Oh, Tsunade’s heart sank a little. She looked over to her boy worried that the reply might have hurt him just like Kakashi had thought they did. But Yamato seemed more distressed by the fact that his friends were fighting for his sake.

“And that was terrible of you to say.” Kakashi yelled back. “Don’t you understand the influence this might have on him?”

Obito leaned over to pick up the piece of wood that was still lying to his left, apparently reading himself to throw it back at Kakashi. “I didn’t mean to say he couldn’t! I just answered his question!” He lifted his arm.

For a second Tsunade considered stepping in, but then Yamato got up himself, his little frame so much smaller than the one of his two friends. “Stop!” he said loud and stepped in between them. There were little smudges on the seams of the dress now from where he had been sitting in the grass with it.

“I- I don’t want you guys to fight each other,” he said with a slight stammer. He looked over to Obito. “You did just answer my question, I am - not offended by your reply, because you didn’t say anything that was offensive to me.”

Then he turned his head and looked over to Kakashi: “T-Thank you for standing up for me, but please don’t throw stuff in the garden you could have hit the herb patch my mom needs for medicine.” 

She put her head against the glass and smiled to herself. He really was a good kid.

“It- It’s not like I mind what you are wearing, you know,” Obito said with a little pouting face. “I didn’t even really notice until you said something.” 

Kakashi grumbled from the other side: “Liar.”

Tsunade couldn’t help but laugh a little. She had known Kakashi’s father Sakumo ever since he was a child too and he had also been this sort of person that always stood up and defended what he believed in. Apparently his son had inherited the same gene, even if it was not necessary at this point. 

“Alright, maybe I noticed, but it didn’t matter to me and it doesn’t now.” Obito was suggestively swinging the piece of wood again.

Suddenly vines broke through the surface of the earth, locking both fighting boys in place. Yamato, who was still standing between them, had his hands clasped together, his hair full with sprouted plants. 

“Don’t fight!” He said and then. “Apologise ok?!” Which sounded less like a question and more like an instruction.

That emotions had influences on his mokuton was something that Tsunade had seen before. The time she cut his hair shorter than it had been before and dressed him up in stereotypical boys clothing for the first time he had sprouted almost an entire bush of flowers over his head on his shoulders once he could see himself in the mirror. Back then she had cut a flower from his shoulder off and planted it in the garden, so they could always remember the moment he truly became Yamato

The boys now averted their gaze. It was again Kakashi who’s sense of duty apparently commanded him to follow what was right. “Sorry, Obito. I- I know you didn’t mean it. Though I stand by the fact that it was insensitive.” he couldn’t help but get the last word in.

“Thank you.” Obito mumbled. “You didn’t have to throw that thing at me though.”

“Maybe you should learn how to dodge better then”, Kakashi shrugged his shoulders. “Guess you need more shuriken practice.”

Obito’s eyes lit up. “I would love to do more shuriken practice.” The mood between them had suddenly turned around completely. Only children could be angry at one another in one moment and then happily playing in the next.

Yamato must have noticed the mood change too and so he retreated the vines he had summoned and freed his friends. A big smile appeared on his face. The look of it warmed Tsunade’s heart. 

“I will make us some shuriken to throw,” Yamato said excitedly and tapped from one foot to the other.

Tsunade retreated from the window again to go back to her medicine on the table. For a while she did not resume her work and just sat and listened to the sounds coming in through the open window. The boys had started playing again, throwing wood shurikens that Yamato made for all of them, as they so often did. Any discord between them seemed completely over. Being a child seemed so easy. 

She did her daily work without worrying too much about the boys outside. It was incredibly hot and any kind of move was very exhausting, still the kids played relentlessly with an energy that adults could only dream of. She prepared a bit more medicine, then did some laundry. While she folded Yamato’s shirts she wondered if she should buy him another dress. Maybe in a brown or red colour to match his hair.

The afternoon bled into the evening and for a while she had not heard any of the children speak or yell outside. Soon Sakumo and Obito’s grandmother would probably worry about their children, so Tsunade went into the back garden to look what they were doing.

It took a little, since they were using one of their hideouts between the bushes at the back of the property. She pushed some branches aside and could not help but let out a long “Aw” at the image in front of her.

All three boys, completely exhausted from their afternoon of playing and fighting together, and probably also the heat, were laying next to each other and sleeping. Yamato was flanked by both the older boys like they were trying to be his guardians to shield him from the rest of the world. They were in such deep sleep that Tsunade felt odd having to break them up. She let them lay like this a little longer and tried to memorise the scene as well as she could, then she woke them up.

Kakashi and Obito left before dinner time, though they sometimes did stay over to eat with them, so it was just Tsunade and Yamato. 

“Mom,” Yamato said eventually, “I had a lot of fun today.” 

She lifted her hand and ruffled his hair again. “I’m glad. I’m also very happy you have such very good friends.”

RECENTLY UPDATED MY FIC AND IM SO GLAD UR COMIC BACK BC I HAD SOME QUESTION literally have 0 friends into Naruto so I wanted to ask what you think of my story so far?

I have several ideas where I want the story to go but I'm a little stuck for ideas on how I'm gonna have Shikamaru care (further) about Naruto before he leaves with Jiraiya like I've already made Naruto break down to him about having to fight Sasuke and now Shikas a more then a little concern about him wondering what Sasuke could have done to make a guy like Naruto cry like that he's also got a tiny crush on him bc that time he cheered for him when he was fighting Temari in the Chunin exam but he's viewing as "it just meant a lot to me that he bothered to cheer for me" Cirrently Shikamaru is in "well my first mission was a bust I need more experience to get better" mode while I'm about to make Naruto ask Tsunade what he could do to make her let him go look for Sasuke cause she wont let him leave the village because Jiraiya told her to keep him occupied while he goes to do more investigation about the Akatski (this is not my plot this is what happen in the anime I'm just adding to it) I want to make Tsunade instead send him on silly missions to occupy his mind send him on missions that's going to actually help him and prepare him to fight Sasuke if he has to even if she's not on board with the whole saving Sasuke idea. Then jiraiya comes back like hey ima take Naruto cause they want the Jinjuriki ima train him so Tsunade has already had someone thinking Kakashi or Iruka training him before Jiraiya even found this out but they were training him for Sasuke retrieve mission 2 in mind they didnt know about that.

So my question is how do you think I can go about having Tsunade train him for Sasuke retrieval mission 2? My first thought was Naruto believes of he was an ANBU member she would let him go (and I dont know if in part 1 they knew Kakashi was ANBU or not cause I dont recall them ever seeing him with his jacket off or him telling them) Naruto's gonna put that idea away for now cause training to be ANBU isnt something he wants to waste time on he wants to be Hokage but maybe that's a side goal to hit ANBU to get Sasuke then Hokage

I need some help with the what do we do from here to convince Tsunade or does she just have a change of heart cause she doesn't think Naruto's conviction is a joke but she and Jiraiya seen very on Naruto forgetting about Sasuke (I've seen up to Shippuden Jiraiya death so ita not a large spoil for you to tell me anything important to the plot I actually know what happens to the end but I plan to have Sasuke come back after the Itachi fight)

As for how to make them get closer or The Feelings start, i would say go for the little missions route and since naruto is not a chunnin yet make shikamaru be paired up with him every so often, i think they would be something nice and it would bloom The Feeling in shika's chest, naruto is too worried about everything else so he's not really internalizing it right now but it will come to him eventually

About naruto joining anbu hmmm this is very bold for sure, i think tsunade would offer it as a joke like "if u complete this training you can go try to get sasuke back again" and naruto takes it seriously, he will do it if he has too, yeah it's not his end goal but if it gets his friend back, he will do it. So Tsunade would let him, bc she thinks it will take a long time but she underestimates his determination lol

i'm not sure i understand why they would want him to forget about sasuke tho? could u say more about that?

This is linked to the Uzumaki clan AU I drew on my art blog [1 2 3 4] I wanted to write Nagato realizing he's having envious feelings toward both his friends and trying to repress them by being the perfect third wheel.

Chapter 1: They are finally dating

In October, the Ame trio came to visit Naruto's family, having promised to stay until Naruto's 6th birthday.

Nagato was staying with Naruto while his parents were on their busy schedule. Naruto was scribbling a drawing of a frog while his big brother was reading a book.

“When I'm done with it I'll give it to you!”

“Aw, that's very nice of you Naruto.”

“Heehee”

Nagato glanced up from the pages to see the little boy frantically coloring his frog with a very bright shade of green and smiled.

“If you want you can give this frog two friends so Yahiko and Konan can have one too.”

“Ohhh! Yes, a good idea!”

He abandoned his coloring to pick up a red crayon and added another round frog to the drawing, then another. After a bit he looked at his drawing proudly then looked at his big bro for approval. Nagato took the drawing to inspect it, smiled and ruffled the boy's hair to congratulate him.

“Thank you Naruto, it's very nice, I'm sure Yahiko and Konan will love it too.”

“Tell big sis Konan that I even added flowers on the frog for her just like the one she has!”

“She'll love it, Naruto. Good job.”

The little kid smiled and started another drawing then stopped and bit, thinking, then turned to Nagato.

“Big bro Nagato... Yahiko, Konan and you aren't related, right?”

“No we're not, it's just you and I who are of the same clan.”

“I knew it! Because I saw Yahiko and Konan kiss the other day!”

“Oh really?? They kissed? That's nice, it was about time.”

Yahiko and Konan had been mutually expressing interest in each other for a little while now. They've been timidly going out together and holding hands briefly and Nagato knew it was only a matter of time before they got closer.

Nagato's thoughts were interrupted as he heard the little boy's stomach gurgle. He smiled at him.

“Naruto, do you want to come with me? I'm going out to get some food.”

“Oh sure!!”

The little boy put his shoes on as quickly as he could and waited at the door while Nagato put his own on.

Nagato bought taiyakis for Naruto and himself and they wandered a bit around the market when suddenly Nagato froze. Naruto pulled on Nagato's black coat and asked him what was wrong.

“Oh, nothing lil bro. Look. There's Yahiko and Konan doing groceries over there.”

“OHH!! Let's join them!”

“NO- nononono. Look. They're holding hands!”

“Huh? And? I want to say hello to big sis Konan and big bro Yahiko!”

“Oh, I know sweetie, I'm sorry. But they're on a date right now, we shouldn't disturb them, let's have them enjoy their moment just the two of them.”

Nagato was looking at them smiling, as they both hid from the main street to be able to see them without being seen. But Naruto thought his big brother looked kind of sad in the way he smiled. Naruto pulled on his sleeve.

“Are you okay Nagato?”

“Hmm? Yeah don't worry. I was lost in my thoughts.”

He didn't know why, but watching his friends having fun like that without him kind of pinched his heart a little. He brushed the thought away from his mind and took Naruto's little hand to get him somewhere else.

[itachi-uchiha-deserved-better]

Have you ever thought of a medi-nin Itachi au? I just think it could be interesting, maybe in an au where he doesn't kill off the clan and the conflict is resolved in a more peaceful way, and Itachi initially gets into medicine when his sickness starts appearing because the medi-nins in Konona don't seem to know what caused this illness and Itachi decides to look for it himself

As the days turn into weeks and months, eventually he realizes that... He actually quite likes studying medicine. When he gets to help and heal his teammates during missions he feels much better than when he has to kill someone to complete a mission. He doesn't like using his skills to kill, so what if he starts using them to help and heal instead?

An maybe when Tsunade comes back to Konoha years later Itachi goes to her for his illness at first, because he was able to keep it under control and let it progress slower but he wasn't able to find a final cure and Tsunade is the best medi-nin out there, but then she realizes his medical knowledge and is intrigued by him and gives him tips or pointers to help him learn even more than what Konoha by itself can give him

I just think it's an interesting idea

So I along with @depressedkakashihatake have explored a few AUs where Itachi focuses on medical jutsu, studying under Tsunade and Kakashi (I dont remember the name of the specific AU, but basically if I remember right Kakashi is the one who is thought to have been killed during the kannabi bridge mission and he's eventually found/finds Tsunade and becomes a Medinin. It's a fun AU)

In a lot of my drabbles and threads, I'll have Itachi make reference to the fact that hes jealous of medinin, he loves the idea of being able to use his hands to heal and give life instead of taking life and causing harm.

I think Itachi would thrive as a medinin. I also like the idea that it would be something that Itachi struggles with to a degree. He still has an advantage because of his sharingan but its not something that comes as naturally to him. His father has trained him to be a killer and it's hard for him to unlearn a lot of that.

I think the major way this comes about (If Itachi doesn't commit the massacre/leave the village) is if when Minato dies, instead or the third hokage taking back over the hidden leaf instead brings Tsunade in to take over.

Otherwise I could imagine Itachi instead of joining the Akatsuki after the massacre, he goes out on his own and Tsunade finds him when he eventually collapses on the road during a bad coughing fit.

Or maybe instead of committing the massacre, Itachi takes Sasuke and flees the village altogether, searching out the Sannin when Orochimaru starts persuing them. Maybe Sasuke is injured and Itachi begs Tsunade to help him and after she does he starts asking to learn from her so he can better protect his brother.

Another option would be if Fugaku died during the Kyuubi attack protecting Minato/Kushina and so Minato raises Itachi and the time he spends with Kushina in the hospital he starts observing and trying to teach himself medical jutsu.

I'd love to explore more ideas with Medi-nin itachi. I'm at work so replies may not be super indpeth but anon please send me any more thoughts you have on this.

tbh im always torn when this topic comes around because i know whats the most popular opinion about it and i dont really agree.

okay so people always blame kishimoto's misogyny for her character being badly written and i did thought the same for some time after i finished watching naruto the first time ngl. but after reading the manga and all my opinion just kept changing.

is kishimoto a misogynistic? yeah why lie. did his misogyny influence his writing of her character? most likely yes. is she a bad character just because of that? ehhhh

the thing about sakura is that shes a bad character not just in terms of writing, shes a bad character because shes meant to be like that. i mean even with his misogyny if u look at the way kishimoto wrote other female characters none of them are that disliked as sakura, even if they don't participate in fights or have to be saved. but thats because you dont see other female characters making fun of orphans in their first introduction chapter, or being mean to others unprovoked or keep trying to get together with the guy that clearly keeps rejecting her and has called her annoying (rightfully. before anyone tries to tell me sasuke was in the wrong. he wasnt<3) in multiple occasions in the story from start to finish. like even if u look at other badly characters like hinata (i dont like hinata before someone thinks this is me cheering for her character btw) who's one of the most boring two dimensional character, kishimoto gave her a interesting background to get people's attention. he did the same with tsunade's backstory and all. yet with sakura he didnt even try to give her that. and you cant really say its uninentional when shes supposed to be a main character yet every damn character even the ones that will appear in three eps have a some backstory except her.

so yeah misogyny affected the way kishimoto wrote her like it affected his other female characters but for the most part it just feels like he just wanted her to be like that

1. neji would live because hiashi sacrificed himself in place of his children. i dont really have anything further planned for him in my head but rest assured that he is alive.

2. konoha involves itself in inter-clan business and makes it a criminal offense for hyuuga main branch members to torture the side branch members. no new seals are placed.

3. boruto is not named boruto because what a weird fucking name, no thanks!

4. the truth about both the uchiha massacre and the destruction of uzushiogakure and konoha’s roles in them are revealed to the public.

5. the villagers and ordinary shinobi play a more active role in the running of the village and it moves away from bureaucracy and to tobirama’s original vision of a democracy. the hokage is actually elected, rather than proposed by officials to the daimyo and that’s that.

6. academy starts at age 8 or 10 and finishes at a soft 16 - if a student is particularly gifted, the lowest age they can graduate at is 14.

7. we actually get a scene between naruto and karin where they acknowledge and talk about their shared roots.

10. i actually like the fact that hinata and choji are like retired from the shinobi industry, i dont think they actually ever really wanted to be parts of it. but hinata plays an active role in the improvement of hyuuga intra-clan rapports, even if she’s not clan head.

11. i’d have killed off iruka and kiba but that’s just me. not because i hate them (i love iruka to the moon and back) but i think their deaths would’ve been realistic and meaningful (and also hurt a lot - can you imagine naruto’s reaction to iruka’s death, or kiba dying and leaving akamaru? pain)

the lovely @skykashi has asked me for some KakaShizu for this event, which I was all to happy to comply with. <3 I wish I could give you the long Enemies to Lovers fic with them that you want, but I dont have the time for that, tho I hope you enjoy this shorter version of that.

Kakashi x Shizune

The worst thing about returning to Konoha was not the amount of work or having to be at the whims of elders again, or the work in the hospital, the worst thing about it, for Shizune at least, was Hatake Kakashi. And no, not because he was lazy or badly mannered or late or didn’t do his missions reliably or was rude to others, no, Shizune’s problem with Kakashi was that he wasn’t any of these things. Well, except for chronically being late.

When they had been kids, Shizune had not understood her female classmates, Rin especially, whom she had gotten along with extraordinarily well as they had both been from families with healer traditions. What did they all like about this Hatake kid so much? Before the White Fang had passed, Kakashi was too confident at best and arrogant at worst, but after his father’s death he was nothing but dismissive and cruel, even to his closest friends.

Time and time again Shizune had to watch Gai approach Kakashi and get shut down only to watch Asuma try, Rin try, even Obito without much success. It seemed like Kakashi valued nothing and nobody, at least nothing but his missions and their success. He wasn’t a boy to be having a crush on, she thought. Rin’s intelligence and calm demeanour and smart, quick ways of picking things up seemed so far out of his league, that Shizune was actively rooting against them.

Sure, he softened up a little after Obito had died, a pain their whole class felt to the core, but Shizune had left with Tsunade soon after that and so never really seen much of his development from that point. Everything she heard afterwards was just stories. Rin’s death, the Hokage’s death, the Copy-nin reputation, that he’d become ANBU squad captain. Soon people on the road asked them “The village from which the copy-nin is from?” when they said that they were from Konoha.

She could not stand those questions. She was so far away from Kakashi and still everyone asked Shizune about him. Still people raved and admired him. Didn’t they know he was nothing but a terrible asshole? Hadn’t they exchanged more than five sentences with him? It should be so obvious to everyone with any taste and any eyes, but apparently the majority of people didn’t have either of that.

The shock was accordingly high for her when she returned to the village after over ten years of absence and was greeted by Kakashi like an old friend. The twinkle in his visible eye and the smile on his face almost seemed wrong to her. His questions about her travels, his genuine admiration for her healing skills and acquired knowledge - it was wrong. Just so, so wrong. That was not the Kakashi she had known. He must have been exchanged for a different model somewhere along the way.

At first the reaction was allergic. Like a cat, all her hairs would pull up when Kakashi was in her area and she would try to bolt when he came too close. She didn’t know how to deal with this grown up version of her childhood enemy and she kinda resented him for having turned out to be so well mannered and kind in the time she was away. Shizune reverted back to teenage age and sulked at having been wrong about him. Had Rin known this all along? Had Rin seen something she herself hadn’t? 

She stayed away from him when she could, which wasn’t too hard, as the shortage of Jounin in the village kept Kakashi away more than he might have wanted. Shizune watched from the sidelines as the Copy-nin got more and more unhappy with even Tsunade as a new Hokage. How he started talking back against her order not to return to his team of young students. How he eventually decided to ignore her order and go completely against it. The Kakashi she had known would have never done that. That night she was laying awake thinking about how angry his face had been. In her absence he had grown so much that she could barely keep up.

Though times slowed down again, she never really tried to be close to this version of Kakashi. Shizune kept her healthy distance. Kept busy with work or training Sakura and tried to ignore how it warmed the ice in her heart when she saw the girl interact with Kakashi. He was a good teacher, he was a good friend now too, Gai always said so, but she had been determined not to like him and even though he never showed any signs of still being the arrogant person he used to be, she was determined not to have been wrong.

Maybe it was her biggest flaw. Maybe it was something she had inherited from Tsunade. This determination to win a fight that the other party didn’t even know she was fighting. Kakashi greeted her when he saw her, he didn’t mind the small talk, he didn’t avoid her either and wherever she met him, he smiled.

He would become Hokage, Shizune knew that, behind the scenes people were pointing at him and whispering. He was a big deal, a handsome man, a strong shinobi and as such Shizune was expected to help him with his work, at least at the beginning of the transition. In the months leading up to the destruction of the village Tsunade talked about it constantly. She had never really wanted to be hokage in the first place and didn’t mind being replaced as soon as Kakashi was willing, which, as far as Shizune could tell, was not so soon.

One evening she found herself next to him sipping sake, while he was only drinking water. “I don’t think I would be a very good leader, “Kakashi said unprompted and made her sit up to look into his uncovered eye. “But if I were to become Hokage I hope I can count on your support, Shizune, as I don’t think there would be a better advisor out there.” Shizune could read in his face that he was serious. His cheek was red from the warmth of the place and he looked good. She nodded so quickly that she almost hurt her neck. If he asked her for help, who was she to say no to that?

The war separated both of them for several weeks. Kakashi was a good fighter and Shizune was a good healer, they were needed on different ends of the conflict. She thought of him, more than she wanted to admit, and every news coming in from the front just made it worse. Obito was back, Madara was back, Tsunade was defeated, but Kakash was still standing. To her own surprise she trusted him to fix the situation. She knew he could do it, where she got that conviction from she did not know.

Their first meeting after the war was awkward. Kakashi came into the hokage office on the day that Tsunade was out.  He sat at the desk that would soon be his and called for her. Shizune walked in and though it was the first time she saw him sitting there, she knew that it was a fitting place for him to be. “Kakashi-sama”, she addressed him, testing the waters of the new honorific, testing if it would make her feel disgusted to address him so formally and to her surprise it didn't feel weird at all, especially not when Kakashi’s cheeks flushed.

“Don’t say that Shizune, please, we’ve known each other for ages,” he said and waved with his hand. She almost replied “Do we?” because she didn’t feel like she’d known him for ages. She felt like she had just met him three years ago, as if the version she’d known as a child was a completely different person. If she could go back in time and tell her younger self that one day she’d respect and even, possibly, admire Hatake Kakashi, her younger self might have punched her in the guts. For good reason too.

Gradually, she could feel her old resentments melt away under Kakashi’s ever burning sun. The transition period went over without a hitch, and though Kakashi could not cure his chronic lateness, he did his work diligently and calmly. He had ideas for the village after the war, had goals to keep the peace and there was never a moment in which he didn’t try to work towards them. Every step of the way he would pull Shizune in, ask for advice, listen to her opinions and didn’t spare in thank you-s and praises. Not even Tsunade had been so nice to her.

Why was he constantly on her mind? Shizune wondered that one evening again, all alone in her tiny apartment in one of the many rebuilt apartment complexes. She couldn’t reasonably argue anymore that it was because she disliked him so much when in reality she got along with him so well. She also had long since buried her quest to find out who the “real” Kakashi under the kind image was, because as it turned out, he was just a kind person. She changed in the time she was away from Konoha and he changed without ever leaving. Why had this been so hard to realise?

One morning she entered the hokage office to find Kakashi already there. He had his head on his arms on the desk and was sleeping. There was paperwork all around him, he must have pulled an all nighter to get all his work finished. Carefully, she walked over to wake him up, but hesitated when she saw his sleeping face. Shizune had never seen Kakashi this relaxed before, his headband had fallen off his face and his hair was laying down in silver streaks over his eyes. She’d known he was handsome, she wasn’t blind, but she’d noticed as much as now.

She physically held herself back from touching his hair in amazement at how beautiful it looked and instead moved forward to shake him just lightly. Kakashi opened his eyes slowly and blinked. “Shizune”, he said with a smile in his eyes. “I’m sorry you had to find me this way, I must have fallen asleep.” He took her hand that was still on his shoulder softly away so that he could sit up. Shizune felt the skin touch like a burn and felt the loss when it stopped.

“I- I didn’t mind, Kakashi-sama”, she said, stepping back and bowing way too deeply, which made him laugh. 

“Don’t call me that, Shizune, please,” he reiterated and shook himself awake. Picking up his headband he went with his free hand through his hair and put it back into position. Shizune followed each movement with bated breath. Being able to see his transformation from the calm, sleepy personality to the hokage was magical. She could feel her heartbeat speed up in her chest.

Hating Kakashi had been so easy for Shizune, falling in love with him was much worse. She was now not different to all her school friends that she used to make fun of. All these times she had made fun of Rin and now she was exactly the same. She was in equal measures ashamed and elated. Kakashi was a good person, he was friendly and kind, he made loving him so easy too. She wasn’t sure how good she was at hiding it when she was around him and her fingers were sweaty and her cheeks flushed, but she tried her best to be professional.

Maybe Kakashi was a perceptive person and noticed her sudden change in his presence, but he too started spending more time with her. Sometimes he called her into his office just to spend a lunch break with him. He was always smiling that way that made his eyes light up and she wondered how wonderful his real smile must look like and if Rin had ever seen what was beneath the mask. His attention to her just deepend her feelings, if she wanted or not.

“Shizune,” he said one day, “Would you like to meet me for dinner later?” His eyes turned to her, who had just sorted papers next to his date. She almost dropped the pile. 

“Dinner?” she said and there was his smile again that made her knees weaker than they should be. 

He put his fingers together: “Dinner, yes.”

 “Like a date?” It was weird to say that out loud, but she needed to know.

Kakashi laughed. “Yes, something like that.” 

“O-Of course, I’d love to.” She replied so fast that she almost choked on her own spit and again Kakashi smiled in this way that made his face light up. 

When she returned to her sorting, her heart beating loud and her cheeks flushed red, she thought that maybe Hatake Kakashi was after all the best thing about returning to Konoha.

Sannin headcanons and thoughts

The last thing I would like to post for the sannin week. It is still 24.04 here! :D @sannin-central

This is long. Spoiler alert. Mostly Orochimaru, some Tsunade, a little of Jiraiya (because his story is pretty clear and spoken and idk what I can add). Also I recommend to read this meta about Orochimaru, it has influenced me a lot and has some good points. Sorry for any posible grammar mistakes. Also I really should put here a lot of references to the manga or anime but it was something that was piling up for a year and I'm soooooooo lazy. After all, those are just headcanons. Also: Im not excusing Oro's bad stuff here, Im trying to understand the reasons.

1. First if all, the chronology pic of sannin lifetime based on the info i found on naruto wiki and also some statements about wars from this post. It was tough considering what a mess naruto’s chronology is.

2. Sannin story shows what it cost to be a legend. They're like Team 7 but more realistic. Tsunade literally carried the war but left with nothing and developed a ptsd and have problems to just live on. Also anger control issues. I think she can be pretty bossy and stubborn which is not always nice. Jiraiya is the hero of the day but also very idealistic and can ignore some important details in the real word whether its the fight (he always injured during flashbacks maybe because each time he took too much to handle and on the one hand it's heroistic but on the other is a mistake that can lead your team to situations like in that Iwa cave) or your friends issues (I bet he saw what's going on but thought it's fine until Oro actually got red handed and left). He lives in his world and may have problems to get out to see it through someone else's shoes. As for Orochimaru, it seems like he was a normal guy for 20+ years (I mean, he didn't do crazy criminal shit and had something good in him and it was stated somewhere that it was his teammates influence. It is obvious they considered him as a friend, I don't thinks it was for nothing) but we mostly know his darkest side. Despite being a moster he is a human that have empathy and some ordinary human traits (man just decorates every bit of an environment he is in lol).

3. Tsunade was the leader of team Hiruzen.

4. Tsunade sometimes hit Jiraiya for some stupid things he did or said but never touches Orochimaru even if he did something same. Jiraiya complained about it once and almost got another hit.

5. Jiraiya had problematic parents that didn't care about him much and a lot of time he was wandering in the streets.

6. Judging by the look of Oro bangs and hair, he sometimes cut it off. A stress relief huh? And the fact that he doesn't do it now in Boruto..

7. It was shown that Tsunade and Orochimaru was acknowledged before they become a team. Maybe they did just before, or maybe some longer time before. I prefer the second option and hc that they met because both had no real friends - Orochimaru seemed weird and scary for everyone and Tsunade was Senju so everyone wanted to hang out with her but didn't really care. They weren't seen as what they were - people put the labels on them. But they didn't care about each other's labels and actually saw each other in true lights.

8. Tsunade knew it was an accident and it's not right but still she blamed Orochimaru for Nawaki's death for some time. It was something that seriously damaged their friendship and the team. Orochimaru was mad but also guilty, after all, he was responsible at least as a shinobi since Nawaki was under his watch. So he started to act cold and emotionless and was trying to distance himself from his teammates.

9. Jiraiya was in Ame while Dan died.

10. The whole his orphans mission was a bit irresponsible tbh. They already fought Hanzo and as he stated the conflict between Konoha and Ame is going to an end with Konoha's win. It's weird to stay here for three years in the middle of the war while there were other lands to fight. He left his teammates for some idea. Maybe that caused another crack in their team friendship.

11. If Tsunade would have find a way to live on with her trauma and follow the will of fire and stuff it would affect Orochimaru as well just as her grief affected him. It's like he would get an example that you can live on with this pain. So death isn't above human capability and we are not just the slaves of mortality (sounds stupid but i dont know how else to describe sorry). But as we know what he actually saw is that it broke her crucially to the point she couldnt be herself again. And so the death is above everything.

12. Oro wasn’t just acting as a cold pragmatic bitch in that cave but also tried to save Tsunade. Jiraiya knew it and that’s why he showed this sign to him like "I see what youre doing here" and that stunned Oro because he would prefer to look rather like a cold pragmatic bitch hehe

13. Just a thought. People in the village probably treated Oro as a foreigner or just wouldnt accept him because he looked so differently and had a weird attitude. That's why he sometimes didn't feel that Konoha is his home. After the wars where people were treated as means and tools, even the children, he himself developed this view on people - he dehumanized them and used as the means to his goals, just as his village did. Funny thing some people were straightly dehumanizing him too like Ibiki thought that he was a demon (tho he was a child). And he probably weren't the only one. Anyways the point is that it's logical that Orochimaru don't care about anybody but some few people, he's the product of his era. He's like Naruto that would chose the hatred way. But naruto had some good and understanding people around him and.. Orochimaru had them too, but match how Iruka treated Naruto and this Hiruzen's "I sAw tHe mAliCe in This cHiLd fRoM tHe BegGinNinG". And oro didn't even have a big ass evil fox in him. sry i hate hiruzen

ANYWAYS the moral of the story is not "go criminal if they hurt you" but always treat people like people. Waving my hand to Kant.

The reason why Orochimaru didn't pick some good morals to stick with through the hard times no matter what (like, idk, Jiraiya or Naruto) is because 1) I think he is/was pretty depending on people around him 2) the war fucked him and his friends up too much (Nawaki incident + Tsunade) 3) twisted addictions (though I don't think he's that sadistic, we never saw him torturing randoms just for fun, it was always some science experimental shit. He tends to get fun out of cruelty only when it's personal) that maybe developed as a way to sublimate anger and sadness caused by his parents loss (that's what they share with sasuke - unlicke naruto, they knew their parents and it's other kind of pain. Sasuke developed a revenge issue and Orochimaru - cruelty pleasure which... is kinda the same but less epic and more occasional lol).

15. Speaking of that, Orochimaru cared for Sasuke because he saw himself in him.

Oro hold grudges against Hiruzen for not choosing him to be Hokage not only because he was ambitious and/or egoistic, but also because Hiruzen was some kind of a father figure for him and his approval was important tho i doubt he was aware of that. He also probably could tell that Hiruzen was suspicios about him when he was a child and that led to many conflicts and was hurting as well.

17. Tsunade knew things weren't pretty with Orochimaru after the wars but she never expected them to be this bad. During the week that she was given in her arc she thought not only about how much she wants to see Nawaki and Dan again despite how wrong would it be but also was trying to bury all the good memories she had left of Orochimaru so it would be easier to kill him.

18. She poisoned Jiraiya exactly because she knew he would not let her do it. Jiraiya was always hesitant to kill and inclined to forgiveness, while Tsunade, as mentioned by Orochimaru, could be merciless (so much so that he was not surprised when Kabuto suggested that she wanted to use Jira for Edo Tensei).

19. That was one of her traits that scared Jiraiya and fascinated Orochimaru.

20. Remember how Oro grabbed Jiraiya's neck when the latter was trying to cover with hair jutsu? On the snake, in Tsnade's arc. Orochimaru could have easily kill Jiraiya by pulling the sword out of the mouth (arteries are right there) but he didn't. As well as he could kill Tsunade when she was still shaking - just aim for the neck or the heart. Instead, he just injured her lung and kicked her which is not a big deal for the kind of shinoby like her at all.. Also he helped Anko not accidentally kill herself but it would be way much profitable to let her do it. "Orochimaru has no feelings".

The reason he suddenly wanted to kill Tsunade instead of forcing her to heal his arms as it was planned (which is weird since it will not going to get him heals and he kinda said that he wouldn't want to kill her just minutes ago) is that not only she refused to help him (he thought he could work it out) but she also prefered the village over him (from his point of view). Out if everyone she was the closest to being able to understand him since the village caused her painful losses too but nevertheless she agreed to be on it's side.

22. He wasn't fighting her back in the end partly because he thought he deserved that. Somewhere deep inside hahah.

23. Tsunade got a fear to develop deep bonds so they probably weren't very close with Shizune (also the way she knocked her down in this hotel.. oh).

It was taken from one Indian song that also had lines like “don’t question life too much”, ”pain arose somewhere in the chest”, “don’t speak to the wounds of the heart”. Though I’m not sure 100% because I was translating it with some hindi dictionary with like zero knowledge of hindi

29. I like to think that this “silence of the heart” theme and the fact that he called his village a hidden sound village are somehow connected. The hidden sound is the possible explanation of all things waiting to be listened to but the truth is silent and you know it deep in your heart and it bothers you. The world is silent just like the life is meaningless but people can only hear. *Sigh* anyways

30. Orochimaru’s journey is the one about accepting death. When he saw Karin released her chains while was trying to get to Sasuke he understood that the death is a part of human’s strength.

First off,

SNS becoming canon by holding hands or kissing or walking towards Sunset.... was never going to happen. So expecting that is kind of extremely childish. I was only unhappy because they wanted to go for this Next Gen shit. That made Kishi to marry off every other characters without any development until Chapter 699.

Second off,

I am immensely happy with what I got. That is NaruSasu became Soulmates. One can't exist without the Other, One complement the Other. Even though they have married those girls and have children, I don't think they will die for their families. And they still love each other more than their own families. Point me one popular Shounen with this kind of Development between 2 male Characters???!!! So, Kishimoto made something extra-ordinary, unusual and I must appreciate him for this from the bottom of my heart. From the way he has written their bond, he really wanted to end with an Open Ending... Like no pairs and trash.

Third off,

What even SakuIno means???? I mean, Sakura was totally going horny over Sasuke's dick and kiss. She was always touching his Body whenever she gets the chance. How can she be paired with a girl??? Same case with Ino. I am not Anti-SakuIno or anything. Probably you ship them for their aesthetics. But both the girls are filtered Heterosexual. They don't have any Lesbian Subtexts like SNS has. Sorry, that is just a crack ship just like SasuHina. They both are friends. That's all.

Since when did Sakura's character had better development, Anon?? You mean that Sasori fight??? You are calling it as a development, and I am still calling it as a Selfish Obsession on her Sasuke-Kun. Sakura took that fight very seriously only after Sasori mentioned the name of Orochimaru. Sakura thought, if she manage to defeat Sasori, she could get information about Orochimaru which inturn will make it easier for her to retrieve Sasuke. She never fought for Gaara or Naruto, which is what she should've done in the first place. Tell me, how is this called as Development??? Just because she repeatedly punch stuffs???

In part 1, she was a total annoying Asshole and in the end she was even more of an Asshole.

It's not like the Author developed her as some Badass Girl and then dumped her for no reason. She was always written to be hated. At no point, I felt the Author made any conscious effort to make her likeable.

Her body was splitted into Two Halves. It's really gory to look. I think even Danzo had a pretty nice death... I think she is the only character in Narutoverse to have her Torso separated from her Lower Body....

She still wants to save other people with whom she had no proper connection with!! She was still thinking about saving other Kages rather than saving herself.

Tell me atleast one moment when Sakura thought about putting her life on the line to save other people??? Or tell me at what point point of the story, Sakura remotely displayed her selflessness???

Let me tell you... If I am an Author and if I want to make a character likeable, the very first thing I would do is, to make that character be nicer to the Titular Character. This is an inherent and unwritten rule. That's exactly why Hinata was liked by many people.... It's funny, people really liked her a lot in Part 1 (not realizing her inherent shittiness)... But he decided to potray her in a wrong way starting from Part 2. If only Sakura was nicer towards Naruto, I repeat nicer... not to love him... people would have liked Sakura more. But all she did was behaving extremely horny towards Sasuke but showing Drainage-level care towards Naruto. And do you really think Kishimoto don't know this logic?? At no point, I've seen her being completely genuine towards Naruto. Even when she wanted to feed him Ramen, she only did it because of Naruto's devotion towards Sasuke.

Throughout part 1, she was an asshole... Towards the end of part 1, she was nice because she needs Sasuke's dick.... And in the beginning of Part 2, She totally was using him to retrieve Sasuke... She cared him here and there.. In the middle of Part 2, she shamelessly fake confessed him.... In the end of Part 2, she was begging Sasuke to like her... She didn't care about Naruto or Tsunade, who were about to be killed by Sasuke...

naruto and sasukes rivalry at the end of part one and the beginning of part two is so well written i think its sort of crazy

i wrote this on mobile so idk how to add a read more. sorry

the way in which the later half of part one the conflict becomes mostly about sasukes growing insecurity after itachi shows up and doesnt even acknowledge sasuke instead looking for naruto, and then sasuke immediately loses after training so hard, and itachi retruamatizes him into a fucking coma. but then naruto learns the rasengan and helps save tsunade (this part of the search for tsunade arc sucks cuz its riddled in misogyny and also frankly, boring, but like. finally seeing naruto learn the rasengan is epic) and so we are finally seeing naruto's underdog protag bit really start to pay off. we are finally seeing him starting to reach his full potential. But instead of this being good for his relationships, in a way it is part of what causes sasuke to leave. because the moment sasuke wakes up, he's already insecure bc itachi not only beat him in an instant, he didnt even care about itachi. he was after naruto. and then they have the rooftop fight and sasuke is relieved to see he made a bigger dent than naruto until he sees the back and he fucking punches a wall he's so upset that he's falling behind. and like. thats the reason he goes to orochimaru. because hes insecure about his lack of power as naruto starts to outpace him (and also cuz he has some crazy convoluted methods of self harm. he wont allow himself to be happy cuz he thinks it makes him weak. but like we all knew that)

and i think its interesting that sasuke has a very quick turnaround from openly insecure and upset at his own inability after search for tsunade, to confident by the time vote rolls around, because of his curse mark fully evolving. sasuke just gets a sudden power boost with minimal work put into it, although its painful and he did have to get locked in a jar for a bit there. he still clearly cant bear to actually kill naruto in vote1, and again his actions of choosing to go to a person who he knows is trying to use him and cutting himself off from his "precious comrades" naruto and sakura is absolutely an act of self harm. but in terms of actual ability, i dont think sasukes initial cockiness in vote1 is fake. its part of why he really freaks out when naruto gets his nine tails chakra cloak. every time he seems to surpass naruto, naruto somehow catches up. that terrifies sasuke. that he wont be good enough to kill his brother. that while he's been making friends and feeling somewhat happy again, he's forgotten his purpose.

sidebar. before itachi showed up again, sasuke really wasn't upset by narutos growth at all. remember when he said "i really want to fight you too" to naruto in chunin exams and naruto was super happy because sasuke was acknowledging him as an equal? sasuke also doesnt get that upset when rock lee beats him in their spat. sure he acts cocky beforehand, but when lee immediately annihilates him instead of having a like breakdown or smn, sasuke just steals aspects of his technique from lee, and improves. itachi alone is responsible for sasukes spiral from i think the mentally healthiest point we see him in the series (late chunin exams, konoha crush) where he openly admits he cares about his teammates, to sasuke denying himself affection for them to the degree he cuts them off entirely (or tries to anyways). so like. fuck itachi lol

but anyways, i think when sasuke says "theres no way youre going to be able to land a single scratch on my forehead" he really thinks he's going to come out of this fight on top. which is why narutos sudden power ups freak him the fuck out. at the same time though, by putting on the forehead protector, he actively acknowledges naruto as an equal. he respects (and loves) naruto, and hes open about this: "it wasnt meaningless, to me you have become my closest friend"

i remember watching naruto blind when i was 12, i was so certain naruto was going to win in vote. as he went into ninetails mode and threw sasuke around it seemed so obvious naruto would win. after all, the narrative so far has been about naruto catching up to and then surpassing sasuke. there was no doubt in my mind naruto was going to take sasuke home. other ppl can say what they expected watching naruto blindly (like truly blind. like u never knew sasuke left) but to me it seemed so clear sasuke was gonna lose. he'd basically lost the rooftop fight, he'd relied on naruto to protect sakura in konoha crush, even if his curse mark was fully activated and he upgraded his sharingan mid fight (smn that can only happen when u experience either extreme happiness or loss, so the fact sasuke felt like he was losing naruto to such a painful degree when naruto wasnt even dead is....yeah) theres nooo way this was going to end badly.

and yet sasuke wins. sasuke fucking wins. and i think this and the beginning of shippuden are so fucking cool because of this.

part one is about naruto getting stronger and beating his rival, to the point his rival becomes insecure. the underdog story finally pays off. of course we want naruto to win; its obvious sasuke isnt in a good frame of mind and is being manipulated, and that going to orochimaru is a bad idea. the guy literally wants to kill and use sasuke, and sasuke is aware of this and still so desperate for power that he's going to go. (before anyone says naruto just wanted to like. have sasuke stay in the village rn under the gov that killed his clan. nobody knew that at this point in the series. honestly i highly doubt even kishimoto had come up with that plot point yet) its always wild to me when ppl try to act super Deep and say naruto was in the wrong here. if your friend was about to jump off a bridge, any decent friend would do their best to stop them. sure narutos methods r a bit unsympathetic and violent but like theyre 12 year olds trained to kill ppl. grow up.

anyways the natural conclusion if we dont think about there being a ton more of the show left, would be narutos underdog story finally cumulating in him beating sasuke. after all, this is the first time we as an audience get to see them fight each other directly (? im pretty sure). all previous fights get interrupted (rooftop, which it seems to be implied by the water tower destruction naruto would have won) or were just them showing their abilities against some external opponent.

honestly, looking back, if naruto had won, there really wouldnt be anywhere to go from there. even if sasuke still left another way, if naruto clearly surpassed his goal of beating sasuke, a goal he talks about almost as much as being hokage, any further power growth from naruto would feel unfulfilling. from the pov of continuing the story, of course sasuke wins. but naruto still gets a scratch on his forehead protector, to indicate that they are much closer in ability than at the start of the series.

and so the end of part one effectively returns us to the original status quo of sasuke being stronger than naruto, although only barely, compared to his far superior abilities at the beginning of part one.

cut to part two/shippuden. narutos been training with jiraiya for 2/3 years. him and sakura nail the bell test with kakashi with ease. the narrative sets up naruto to be this new and improved stronger smarter version of himself. we cant wait to see what kind of new stuff he can do!

it turns out he cant do anything really.

in the gaara rescue arc, naruto's words are the reason chiyo ultimately changes her beliefs and entrusts things to the younger generation by sacrificing her life for gaara's, but fighting wise? naruto does like literally nothing. he yells at deidara a bunch and runs after him while sakura kicks ass

next, during that part where they meet up with orochimaru and he says "my sasuke" and narutos like "dont talk about sasuke like he belongs to you, especially in front of me!" it's exciting because oh hell yeah previously when naruto went into fox mode serious shit went down. he is going to wreck orochimaru. you feel it.

he doesnt. in fact he makes things worse by hurting sakura, and burning all his own skin off. orochimaru gets away. naruto effectively threw a gay temper tantrum and nothing improved.

then we get to naruto and sasukes reunion. after so long training in order to get sasuke back we're ready for another major vote style show down. weve seen how sakura has improved in the timeskip, and we are about to see how sasuke has improved (in fact, we maybe already have. i forget where the scene of sasuke surrounded by unconscious bodies is. if its before this scene then we've seen his improvement as well). its time to see the fruits of narutos training with jiraiya.

naruto and sasuke reunite. they stare at each other. sasuke comes down, and takes out his sword to kill naruto. and naruto. doesnt. do. anything. sasuke legit says "dont you want to be hokage? you should be training instead of chasing after me. im going to kill you now." pulls out his sword, and naruto just stands there and says "someone who couldnt save one friend hardly deserves to be hokagesai is the one who blocks sasukes sword. and sasuke even has a kind of obnoxious quip about "you used the correct block" also then he fucking goes into narutos headspace or whatever and fucks kurama up, all while insanely calm and seemingly apathetic. sasuke in part one tried to be unemotional but he was very prone to anxiety or anger. but now hes legitamitely (as far as we can see anyways) totally confident and totally unfeeling. (ofc we know this isnt true. but thats only cuz of later scenes.)

sasuke leaves, magically in fire, which is a technique we never see again, and naruto starts crying. so does sakura, who also did not do anything, but lets be real thats kinda standard for how kishimoto writes her. the fact naruto doesnt fight sasuke, after two previous fights where he actively didnt do anything really, sets us practically back to page one. juxtaposed with sasukes clear leaps and bounds in ability (knocked like a bajillion dudes unconscious -- ppl he coudlve easily killed but didnt want to -- somehow fucking can see kurama in narutos brain and also destroy the guy) naruto is seemingly stagnant. and even if its just due to emotional reservations, naruto clearly is not sasukes equal right now. he hasnt done a single actually useful thing for like all of part two so far.

and i just think thats. so incredible and engaging. because its not like naruto lost all his abilities or something -- he still can do rasengan, its clear in the second bell test hes better at strategizing snd teamwork -- but theres some new obstacle. not only a lack of ability compared to sasuke, but a lack of willpower as well. of course, its kinda obvious to me sasuke is incapable of actually killing naruto himself, but hes a hell of a lot better at hiding that, and we'd have no way to know that on first viewing. so its not a total retcon. but it also returns us to our old familiar rivalry between the two, except both naruto and sasuke have changed as people, and as a result, so have the contours of their relationship. but we have returned to the fundamental idea of sasuke being far stronger than naruto.

this is part of why part two/shippuden feel so romantically focused. the focus shifts a lot from becoming hokage to getting sasuke back. i mean naruto literally was basically like theres no point in being hokage if i cant save you *lets sasuke kill him* like. mentall illness aside thats so clear his focus is on sasuke above all else. something that will repeatedly be established throughout part two.

i also think its so human? kishimoto has always excelled at writing children like children and teenagers like teenagers. narutos actions as a 15 year old mainly consisting of crying, throwing a tantrum, trying to be threatening, resigning himself to others, and making things worse as a result is essentially how i acted at 15. its the kind of thing that speaks to the fact that he's still just a kid. and while we see less of that from sasuke, the ways sasuke interacts with taka, or the fact he blows up an entire portion of the hideout cuz he got woken up from his nap, also remind us these are young teens that we are looking at. theyre gonna act crazy.

by showing narutos not necessarily relapse but lack of growth, it perfectly sets up sasuke as his goal once again. something that everyone and their mother seems to notice and want to talk about. as naruto trains for the rasenshuriken kakashi thinks to himself about how sasuke is narutos sole motivation. naruto himself says "you became my goal" in kage summit. as we see naruto start to improve again and get to sasukes level we also see that sasuke is no longer insecure (he like smirks when he finds out naruto saved the village from pein singlehandedly) about his ability, and naruto catches up again. he doesnt surpass him this time though, which is made abduntanly clear by the fact that in vote2 they both lose and arm and are beaten to a pulp by the other. they are truly equals. blah blah blah.
