i think it is very silly to react to dropout's response like "why were people mad, you know the cast and crew are pro palestine" yeah exactly and if they weren't i don't think attempting to push a petition/boycott to them about this would do anything. the result of them acknowledging this was a net good. twenty thousand dollars

I feel like all of tumblr needs a crash course in "people go on the internet and tell lies" rn
#I get it I get the compulsion to want to help people in need#but if it's a blog that has only existed for a few days#and it's sending you a random message asking for money#it is 99.9% guaranteed to be a scammer#I thought this was like internet 101#but I have watched about a dozen go fund me inbox requests getting passed around#with zero effort of having vetted that the person sending the message is who they say they are#or that the money is going to where it needs to#there are literally three or four posts floating around here that have links to verified donation channels#if you want to help Palestine#there's friends of friends who have family that you can actually reach out to#and ask “how can I help”#but if it's some random who you don't know from adam#and you do nothing to vet them#I'm sorry to say you're a sucker

just so we're all clear i do check the fundraisers i reblog to make sure they're legitimate. many of them have the verification in the post itself, ie, "verified by [xyz user]" but i do look just in case.
#just posting this because yeah i have Seen the palestinian scammers posts from people and i think they are very bad faith#or relying on random facts to 'debunk' the legitimacy of a fundraiser that have pretty obvious explanations#“the gofundme isn't based in gaza” yeah because usually they're sponsored by someone out of the country#“they all write the same” they're probably not native english speakers and may be relying on google translate or easy#stock phrases#“there's a bunch of variations on the same guy” arabic names can get transliterated into english in many different ways#and many of the people who verify campaigns have called out scammers piggybacking off this cause before#well at the end of the day its your own money and you're responsible for where you donate#if you want to give it to UNRWA or PCRF then fair enough those organizations help too#i'd rather risk getting scammed out of $10 than risk mocking someone's fundraiser when they're in a desperate situation

the answer is no we don't. to my knowledge, none of the members have openly talked about it. there has been no story on their official instagram, nor has matt (the only one with a public profile) posted anything about it on his account. not only that, but i did some research and apparently that benefit concert that him, tyler parkford and josh homme took part in also hosted people like jesse hughes and sarah silverman who are more or less openly pro-israel. which doesn't mean *matt* is, it just means he's not careful who he's associating himself and his image with.
the others have stayed silent. and miles, too - who's so active on social media - has never even reposted anything about it. not a word.
about the girlfriends, louise (and amanda) have spoken about "wanting peace" and louise especially has reposted some stupid ass posts a few months ago basically saying it's not "childish" to just wish peace for everyone - proving that she literally knows nothing about what has been happening for DECADES. both her and amanda have repeatedly proven they're centrists, which is just so. yikes.
the only one among all of them who has openly and almost immediately asked for a ceasefire is katie.
i've seen some people argue that the royal albert hall proceeds have gone to the war child association, but honestly - that's not enough. that was before, and even though knowing that is better than nothing, something they did in the past doesn't justify their lack of a statement on the genocide in the present. the fact that they're not even active on social media - just because they're too lazy to get someone to properly manage their account - isn't an excuse for staying silent.
whether they like it or not, they're celebrities. they have a platform they could use and they repeatedly choose not to use it. i love them but for the past few months i've been beyond disappointed in them.

#self#fantasy costume#If I had the money for a custom tailored fantasy-ish victorian-ish suit instead of piecing together random thrift store items with like walm#rt halloween costume type jackets and stuff..#unstoppable.....#I would actually lean more straight up historical with my wardrobe it's just that everything I own basically is thrifted aside from a very#small portion of things (like usually socks for example I get from ebay. wigs from ebay. things that it's hard to find in thrift stores. etc#) and I rarely ever find stuff like that at the bins. Your closest bet is like. hopeing that the week you come in just so happens to also be#a week that a church costume department recently donated a bunch of old stuff. but I just haven't really had much luck finding like fancy ve#sts and suit coats and cloaks or like tunics and etc. etc.#Styles like mori kei or cult party kei are pretty accessible and easy for places like the bins (where youre usually digging through piles of#curtains and fabric scraps and doilies anyway). but finding like.. a straight up tudor england costume or something is . VERY rare#Sometimes you do find halloween costumes. Or like. stuff that's clearly like cheap 'Goth' stuff from shein or aliexpress that someone has do#nated and they can be a LITTLE okay in terms of usable for costumes. But you rarely find actual good quality stuff. obviously because like#real very good quality historical costumes are expensive and most people aren't just like 'yeah dump it off to goodwill' lol#In an ideal world though I would have fancy top hats and neck ruffles and stuff .. know this ghhjbhj#Lack of that will not stop me from taking picturesin basically the same outfit 6000 times though.
