Columbo and the Knight (1984)

put me in the universe where Columbo ran through the 1980s and had a crossover episode with Knight Rider. I think they deserved it, and I am not just saying that because they're my two favorite Old Shows. @telebeast wrote a little fanfic blurb about it and I HAD to visualize it into a comic (which is also the longest comic I have finished thus far at five pages...), so writing credit goes to them.

Just a note from a mothertongue Italian with a BA in Foreign languages and some Linguistics exams under her belt:

"Italian/Spanish accent" is something that makes very little sense.

Italian and Spanish are two different languages, they are similar but not interchangeable. Italian isn't a dialect nor a regional variant of Spanish.

Lucanis, Teia, Viago and Illario all have good voice actors who are good at acting, but none of them have an italian accent. Judging by the fact that none of them actually can pronounce "Treviso" as it is pronounced in Italian. Treviso is a real city in italy, and the only one who up to now pronounced it as we would here is, actually, Emmrich.

Adding: I like the voice actors, they did well and act greatly, the thing that makes me mad about the Crows in the game is not them or their performance. I'm grumbling about posts on tumblr speaking of phantomatic "italian-spanish accents" and being here like Jack Skellington in Christmas Town.

been playing Baldur's Gate 3 lately and having a blast running a little gnome warlock named Mayhew! he gets into shenanigans on the reg, some of which i intend to draw. like so:

a few sessions ago, there were these cool masks lying unattended on a table in Auntie Ethel's teahouse lair. just sitting there, waiting to be worn! i am not one to pass up an opportunity.

now you might say, "sky, wearing masks a hag left for you to find sounds like a terrible idea" but actually it turned out great

naturally i am blaming it on an in-character decision and not the fact that i press buttons first and ask questions later. poor Mayhew, really earning that low WIS score 😔 maybe he'll learn restraint one day

The sketch! It came to me as a complete idea, more or less.

I am very into moments where a character's will is suborned and they turn on their friends. "Light them up, pretty" moments, to be Caleb Widogastian about it. So, it was a very interesting experience to have this decision backfire so spectacularly! I've been playing Mayhew as someone who will take risky gambles for power -- after all, he's already made several dumb gambles that paid off; that's why he's a warlock.

When I beat Ethel, the game actually handed the conversation to Lae'zel, not Mayhew. I like to think that was because the entire party decided his judgement couldn't be trusted. This was smart of them because right after that he drank one of the hag's potions ("it says parasite! maybe it gives me powers") and permanently debuffed himself to 7 strength. 😎 only the best decisions are made in the saturdaysky household

please fill me in on transfem Untitled AAI2 Prosecutor (I'm still not comfortable with the new translated name) because it seems interesting

absolutely. Basically: I think seb/eustace's story and character arc becomes so much more compelling if you decide to headcanon her as a closeted trans woman/trans fem.

Her narrative is all about growing up wanting the approval of a cruel, stifling parent. (edit: It's important to note her father is specifically a macho, very patriarchal personality!) Of course, her father doesn't give a shit about what she wants. His expectations of her boil down to her being useful to him. And so he undermines her, verbally abuses her so she stays in line. Becomes an extension of him.

Once she finds friends/community who truly cares about her, she gets the help she needs and moves past needing that approval and stands for herself, her own truth. And only then does she truly grow and bloom.

Okay you got all that. Good. Now doesn't this story sound like a very common transgender childhood <3

Also I really love the idea of her growing into a really beautiful elegant woman... who is sometimes kind of a dork who calls people losers and has a silly laugh ^_^ (and if you are in the eustace-universe. she is changing the HECK out of that name first chance she gets)
