This is a whole ramble but there is a theme in there (for fun and giggles)

I sometimes have to think about the whole "petplay" / master-servant game Gun has going on with some of the GMM guys (Tay and Joss, officially but he probably has some of the others joined too). It's just so damn wild and funny. And everyone is pretending like that's just the most normal thing besties do. I mean sure why not but also 😏 Just them taking turns in being the others obedient cute pet-servant for one day, while he calling him "his pet" and treats him like a pet (and that outside of cameras and fanservice stuff, they do that in their private time mainly. just dragging it out in the open occasionally). Yall don't understand how neat the whole OffGunTay(New) and Gun swinger / poly dynamic is. Another pleasant episode. It's really fun to see how much the Team has improved over the years while still being the show. It is a remaster so it's pretty much the same storyline, but the animation and editing and voice acting and so much more. Go show some appreciation for the Team!!

As much as I'm here for the loreeeeeeeee, I wouldn't mind if the rest of the year is just filled with silly episodes. it's the silly meme show after all... but Team, was it really necessary to remind me that these characters had trauma from previous episodes? well, guess what? it's day of the dead for me so your plan failed aha!!! /silly

So instead, I'll just say my longest fic on my primary page is 96,771, my trash page is 34,787, and my catch-all is 11,722, for a total of 143,280. So with that being for just three fics, I shudder to think what my actual word count is for 101 fics lol.

5. Do you respond to comments? I do! In the past, I've always made friends through reviews/reviewing, so I always respond to comments and leave comments on works I've enjoyed. :) I really wish engagement/fic friendships were more encouraged these days.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Uhh, probably Folie a Deux (H.annibal) or To K.iss, to Consume (Turn). OH, and Let the Weary Rest (Turn), where I killed off Ben lol.

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? After 2020, pretty much all of my fics had happy endings. The World is Made Wrong made me happiest though, I'd say.

8. Do you get hate on fics? I'd rather not jinx myself, but I haven't since I was a kiddo! And that hate was deserved tbh, cuz they were just telling me I wrote xyz wrong since I was a child/didn't bother to research.

9. Do you write s.mut? *gestures vaguely at my trash page* Uh. Yeah. lol I don't really have a specific type I write, beyond M/F, if that's what you're asking -- the specific scenarios are typically a case-by-case basis.

10. Do you write crossovers? I used to write quite a few! Nowadays, I save that more for things like RP and edits, though I do still enjoy them. Sometimes, crossovers work better than canon, I said what I said.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? I have! But I was like 13 at the time, and the person posted it in the same ship/fandom, so Idk what their plan was lol. Fortunately, they deleted it the day I reviewed.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes! A few times, actually (all for the H.annibal fandom).

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? Sure have! They're all RP-turned-fics though, cuz I've never actually asked someone to write something who wasn't an RPer themselves.

14. What’s your all-time favorite ship? Probably David/Maddie from Moonlighting. They're timeless! <3

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I suppose my time travel romcom. It's basically me rewriting a book I've already created, but altering it for the Turn universe. Even though it's fun, it's kind of boring repurposing my old work, and most especially when there's so little engagement. I flourish on comments, alas. Other than that, I mostly tend to finish my works!

16. What are your writing strengths? An editor once told me my strengths are my dialogue and humor. She equated the first 20 pages of my book (a recent work) to a Shakespearean comedy, which really tickled me, ngl.

17. What are your writing weaknesses? World-building! I've improved with this by a lot, but I genuinely do think fic writers are conditioned to stop describing settings/appearance thanks to our audiences already KNOWING, and thus, our OG works suffer for it. Mine certainly do!

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I wouldn't do it personally, since I doubt it'd translate well, but I encourage others to do it! I'll still read!

20. Favorite fic you’ve written? Probably The World is Made Wrong, since I've since reworked it and I'm still very proud of how that second run-through turned out (not the one available on AO3 -- that version is in all its heinous first draft glory lol).

Well, to add my five cents in the matter, I don't know…when certain people say “Oh, this fandom is dead”, I just have to wonder…

Is it really?

Because, let's be honest. Be it MK or any other fandom. I always found that no matter how “dead” we think it is, there's always someone, somewhere, who is willing to share either their knowledge (Canon wise) or ideas (Headcanon wise) for fun, for free, and for the whole community to enjoy.

In that sense, I would say, Mortal Kombat, as a concept, has never been more “alive”. You still have people dedicating themselves to either the OG retro area (First three games plus mythologies and some other media, that would be me), ps1 to PS3 area up to MK9 (With the additional exceptions of MKX and 11), or maybe people who like everything at once, even people who like some games and hate the others with a passion. Maybe you only played Shaolin Monks, Idk!

There’s even people that just started with MK12 (the one from 2023, I call it like that to avoid confusion with the original arcade one.), and they make a lot of content regularly.

I get where this can come from, the sudden lack of content or people to talk about your fandom is a huge deal sometimes, when you need it. It gets worse if you also don't get the specific kind of content that caters to your very own needs.

But that is why I love Tumblr. You have asks, gifs, memes, even some edits or videos depending on your fandom. And you have a super powerful tool, and that is to make content by yourself, and for yourself only.

I mean c’mon, I’ve been back here for like, three months I guess and I’ve come up with like, three accounts with people who created their entire AU universe just to explain plot holes for the original timeline!.

We also tend to have different views or versions or perceptions about the same fucking character, because we’ve given so many versions throughout the time, that we just chose that one we liked the most! And if it doesn't exist we create alternate versions. (Idk, Soft!BiHan, Dom!Kuai Liang, you name it.)

And you know what? We love it. I love collecting like five versions of Bi-Han or Kung Lao or whoever tf I encounter, and get ‘em all as if they were pokemons. Seriously, it's not that bad.

So, in conclusion, If you are thinking about this franchise or story you really love, and are spacing out at 3 A.M thinking about how great this new fanfic/headcanon/comic/video/fanart/whatever is going to be, even if you didn't do it yet, well, guess what. It's pretty alive within you!

These characters and their experiences are alive because you think about them and they live within you, rent free!

It's funny how many people say “If it wasn't because of this series or character I would maybe not even be alive today”.

Well…it's the same from the other side.

If it wasn't because of you, who exists and creates, this story wouldn't be alive. And that's fucking powerful, know your power!.

How it feel to be a Mortal Kombat fan in 2025

preface: so I started following bc of all the excellent dc posts, then also saw you have a dcxpjo crossover tag and was excited about that. Since then I watched dp because of the avalanche of new posts on my dash I needed to understand (the fandom seems way better than the show)

my question is: has anyone ever done something with danny phantom characters and magnus chase? Dead immortal teenagers with superpowers being the common factor here

Okay, so I went and checked ao3 and there appears to be three DPxMagnus Chase fics, two in English and both of the "throw twenty fandoms into one fic" variety. I haven't actually seen any DP/Riordianverse fics, aus, headcanons at all, which surprises me now that I think about it because PJO is a fairly large fandom and it gets crossed over pretty often.

I think a crossover with Danny Phantom and Magnus Chase would be wild, honestly. Magnus learning that ghosts are real and being like "yeah, fuck it, sure, why not, i guess ghosts are real, it's not like my afterlife isn't batshit insane enough already". Danny finding a hotel full of quasi-immortal kindaVikings that all kill each other on a regular basis and being vaguely concerned for all the inhabitants before remembering its Not His Problem and doing a 180 into having the time of his life starting shit. Danny haunting the halls of Hotel Valhalla while housekeeping tries to vacuum him off the ceiling and the entire time Magnus is just like "I don't know this guy, I have never met this dude before in my afterlife, this is definitely not my fault."

Also, (I Will put the ghost king au in all of my headcanons) Magnus being confused about the Realm Full of Ghosts Danny is in charge of, which includes gods (ghost-gods? ghosts of gods? gods of ghosts? ??) and trying to figure out how the ancient pantheons fit into it. Which is my excuse to share this snippet I wrote forever ago and never had a chance to use anywhere. It was literally just me trying to figure out how other afterlives fit into a universe where the ghost zone exists

“Hades?” Danny turned to [idk some stand in dude]. “Which Hades are we dealing with, here?”

“Neo-pagan, my lord.”

“Thanks.” Danny turned back to [original asker of question]. “Yeah, I’d rather just let Hades do his thing. Neo-Pagan Hades is pretty chill, but I don’t want to upset him over something like this.”

“What do you mean, ‘Neo-Pagan’ Hades?” [og asker of question]

“There are all sorts of gods,” Danny explained, eyes giving off the green glow that sometimes came when he was explaining something. Sam called them his ‘professor eyes’. “As king of the dead, I rule over all death gods, from all pantheons. Gods, unlike other entities, are sustained through belief- that’s what makes some gods splinter off from each other and create new ones. Beliefs change over time though, and sometimes the same god is created, but a little different. There are a few incarnations of the really old gods running around, those guys are a pain to deal with. Their neo-pagan versions tend to be more reliable, chill.”

“And sexy,” [stand in dude] piped up.

Danny sighed. “And sexy.”

Hey! thanks for asking and I'm so glad you enjoy this fic!

I've done a little bit of research for this fic (and my og novel) and still have some things to work out. So...lets see if my thoughts make sense...Also, I apologize in advanced. Once I started thinking and writing about this, I just kept going. So...long post alert. my bad.

For the purposes of this fic--Feyre is selectively mute. She'd originally been able to speak and then at her mother's death, she stopped. I don't think I've gone into it exclusively in the fic yet, but the entire situation was just so traumatic for her being so young and then her father not taking the time to understand how the death affected Feyre so much. Some sources that I looked in on say this happens while rooted in anxiety. And generally only persists when they are in this high anxiety situation while being able to open up to close friends and family. From my own understanding of trauma and what trauma does to a person, it seemed reasonable to me that she would just stop talking in general. And then I realized I needed to do more research for this fic and my novel to more accurately portray what some people go through.

At times it feels like I've embellished a little too much? Most of the sources I've looked at say that this typically only persists in children around 5-10 yos. When untreated it can persist, so I think it's reasonable that she still can't speak, but almost not. Idk. I wish I knew people who are selectively mute or mute in general...but I'm trying my best with research, lol.

But for this fic, Feyre had never felt safe. Not even with her sisters. And while I've tried to give them a decent enough relationship, I wanted to also reflect themes of ACOTAR of how isolated Feyre is in the human lands (and even with Tamlin) until she meets Rhys and comes into herself in the Night Court. So, I wanted to bring a little of that out to.

From what I've interpreted with what I've looked at, it's that no sound or noise comes out only in these situations of high stress. So, yes, she can make some noises and grunts--there is no trauma to her vocal cords/genetic reasoning that she can't--it's the anxiety and stress and trauma that has kept her from speaking. It's the trauma that keeps her from speaking in other situations. I'm wanting to explore this a little more and what feyre can and can't do. And I'll decide how best to approach this--and maybe, maybe, she'll speak again? It'll be a long journey whatever I choose to do with it.

Unlike in my og book, where it's magically based muteness, and I feel like there's a little more freedom and more to make up for the not speaking--so I am a little worried that some of that unrealistic-ness is bleeding in and TTWCS is giving an unfair representation of what people with selective mutism and mutism as a whole suffer and struggle with.

I'll forgo my personal rambling of more of why I approached this fic the way i have, y'all've gotten enough of that. But what it boils down to is what the person has experienced in their life, I think, and if they are in a safe place. Since Feyre's is more trauma based, I thought it made sense that it persisted for years and that she doesn't speak at all. But then she's comfortable enough with Rhys to live with and marry him so....yeah. I dug a hole there. Hopefully when I explore it further in later updates it's mesh enough that it makes sense.

Things that made watching Transformers (2007) easier and even enjoyable:

[note: B'verse gets the treatment that it gets by fandom for good reasons. There are tons of posts that dissect the bullshit of these movies far better than my second-language-english-non-american self could ever tackle, so I am not doing that, or plan on doing that. But if I decide that I'll get through every continuity of the franchise I will find a way to make it fun for myself. And so, this is my search for golden nuggets in these movies, because they did bring in new fans to the franchise and that's why we have other continuities that we might not have otherwise. Credit where it's due, and some positivity for those that did find B'verse at least amusing if nothing else. ]

Frenzy

Anytime Frenzy was on screen made me smile because his movements and personality were hilarious, he is just so expressive despite looking like someone super glued a bunch of knifes together. I wouldn't know it was Frenzy if I didn't go to the Wiki, but no matter that, he was funny and that's what matters.

The original Cybertronian robot modes

We don't see them for long, but the glimpses were glorious. Just look at Optimus

Gorgeous. What I wouldn't give to see the details up close. Maybe I'll go looking eventually, but this is just so nice.

We also get a "sexily rises from the pool" scene with Ironhide (probably unintentional and I am biased due to being a robofucker. In any case, very very nice and Cybertronians look so good as aliens)

You see this kid?

This little girl was the only human I cared about in the movie until I saw just how badass Mikaela is, and how cool the military dude is. I don't like kids, but I would lay down my life for this girl.

This one scene just makes me think of what would happen if her parents showed up way earlier. Ironhide would be her guardian and it would be both adorable and hilarious because "Honey, you have to drive in a sentient alien that looks just like our car because the goverment men said so or there will be consequences and potential alien threats."

There are so many joke potentials there; the cultural barrier, the "I am the ine that is supposed to keep her safe" glaring contests, there is just so much shenanigans that could happen.

Also, tea party with the kid. Tea party with the kid.

Sam Witwicky actually reacts like an average human would when faced with the situations he finds himself in

Do I like Sam Witwicky? No, he is the kind of character that I would want to punch irl because of his personality and actions. He is disgusting. But watching him scamper and scream and stutter when faced with giant metal robot aliens that can squish him like a bug? Good, that was a beliavable reaction and I enjoyed it a great deal.

I also laughted at how they kept him frozen like a popsicle. And not even well, like, they COULD'VE made an actual freezer and pop him in instead of using those couple of tubes just so he was displayed for all personell to gawk at. HE CRASHED IN THE ANTARCTIC!

The design looks so good, because it looks ALIEN and POINTY and AGH!!! The colors? There are no colors that would make him stand out, he looks like someone opened a cutlery drawer, mixed up what's inside, threw in some extra knifes for a good measure and then shook the whole thing until this guy materialized from the pile. It is both incredibly annoying and satisfying.

Mr. Welker did an amazing job with his voice, I don't know what the directions were, but oh man it sure sent shivers down my spine. That is the kind of voice that spells "You are going to die" and I already have my coffin picked out.

EDIT: SO APPARENTLY! IT WAS NOT WELKER THAT VOICED MEGATRON.

It was Hugo Weaving, and yes the man did am amazing job, but I apologize a million times, I was CERTAIN that THE OG VA OF MEGATRON WOULD ALSO HAVE VOICED MEGATRON. LIKE, OKAY BAY, OKAY!

LOOK AT THE AMOUNT OF ICE! With how quick he came back fully online once Frenzy turned off the freeze liquid tubes, I bet he was half awake through the whole thing. Systems just below idling or something, in any case, AGENTS YOU ARE SO DUMB! WHO WAS GIVING SUBPAR FUNDING TO THEM, THEY BETTER BE FIRED!

I also was glad that Sam refused to call him by the name the sector asigned to him, despite Megatron being in stasis. And that he insisted they use the correct name. Good job Sam, acknowledge the threat by the actual name and show respect to a fellow sentient lifeform. Even though said lifeform is hellbent on destruction of the universe and your world.

ALSO, AND I CANNOT STRESS THE LAUGHTER AND AMUSEMENT HERE; the sheer DISRESPECT! They don't disassemble Megatron's corpse. No, these idiots, these absolute morons decide to dump him into the ocean, letting him sink to the lowest possible point (not sure if they did say it was the M' Trench or not), where there are proper freezing temperatures - good! You're learning, good job!! - just... In full. Full corpse. What's left of him. Just blup! Down with the fishies he goes!

I understand that they probably didn't know how to approach Optimus about it, but... At least behead the guy. He came back ONCE, who is to say he won't come back again?! Safety precautions my dears.

They also completely disregard what a giant extraterrestrial metal alien rusting away on the bottom of the ocean could do to the ecosystem at large. Like, I find this incredibly amusing, because this ISN'T something most folks think about when watching a movie but we have giant squids down there. We have so much weird things down there, the ocean isn't even fully explored AND YOU WANT TO CHUCK AN ALIEN CORPSE DOWN THERE?!

Now the real question: is he a looker? *looks at the pictures* hmmmm, depends on if you like knifes. Like, really like knifes. Like really, really REALLY want to get it on with a fine assembly of kitchen knifes that were exposed to the elements but somehow haven't rusted away completely.

I think he's neat.

Needs a good long powerwash though. Preferrably with something to help the whole "I was frozen for more than 50 years and sprang back to action as soon as I woke up" thing that happened.

My man needs to take a moment and get his bearings, like dude. Please. You can conquer the world after some energon and slow system boot-up period. The strain on the systems my dude, you ain't young.

Also love that this "death" was probably reused in TFP because lord golly, do we love our faves ending up under the sea. (Though Megan took a much bigger fall, Bayverse WAS PLOPPED INTO THE WATER LIKE A NEWLY ACQUIRED FISH I CAN'T YOU GUYS I CAN'T!)

In short: I love the comedy of american military giving such disrespect to an Alien Warlord. These guys are really sealing their fate.

I loved the way they got the Witwicky family to be important to the plot

The whole "selling my great great grandpa's glasses on e-bay" thing gives us a very good self insert/OC/rewrite/movie AU potential. Don't like Sam and his disgustingness? Find a way to write a cousin or some far off relative or hell, even just someone who buys the glasses off e-bay and go wild with it!

Archibald was also clearly an inspiration for Isaac Sumdac as far as I can tell, what with both of them using Megatron as a means of helping technology advance.

Only difference being one of them lived and actually talked to Megatron after he came back online and the other got driven to madness and death due to the amount of information beamed into his brain. Isaac also acquired a space baby daughter, so the guy is absolutely luckier of the two.

Mikaela being fucking competent and badass throughout the movie, and not being just fanservice eyecandy

I could do without the fanservice, but her personality? I loved it. I loved that she wasn't crawling to Sam and wasn't being "hard to get". Which is also why I was very displeased at the very sudden "oh yeah, romance! She returns his feelings after he took her for a ride and let her vent her frustrations!". The movie is 2 hours long and they could throw in some moments where these two connect?

Welp, it is an action movie, boy gets girl no matter what, can't complain about the staple in the genre.

However, Mikaela x Optimus? Now THAT is something I considered as soon as the two locked eyes and interacted. Like, even taking my shipping goggles off, these two could have a very interesting dynamic and Mikaela could be a very good protagonist. I wonder what the movie would be like with her as the lead and Sam being the fucking moron she has to drag along with her.

BUT ALSO! Can we talk about the horrible, excruciating fact that her and Bumblebee drove around with Bee's damaged legs dragging over asphalt all the time he was shooting at 'Cons? There were sparks flying! SHE WAS DRIVING BACKWARDS! She took command of the situation and did what she could because Bee still wanted TO FIGHT!

Also, they way she beat up Frenzy? Gorgeous, I want to slap Sam's non-existent balls off for not atleast saying "thanks". The dude would be sliced thinner than cabbage if she wasn't there.

The millitary man we are supposed to care about because his wife gave birth while he was on duty and we see his baby three times in the whole movie, actually being a pretty awesome and well-written character

Look, personally, I was a little confused at the reason why we were seeing his wife and baby interacting/the scene where she thinks her husband is dead. Mostly because I don't like kids, so scenes like that, when I don't even know who the character is, have no impact at all. Him having a baby isn't going to make me like the guy more, unless I know his character. Him being absent because he's on duty doesn't mean he'll be a good dad (though he looks like the kind of man that will try his best, and I like that in a man). So seeing his wife and kid at the start of the movie seemed pointless to me.

BUT! FOCUSING ON THE POSITIVES HERE!

Lennox is a good character and whenever he was on screen I was invested in what is going to happen to him. He's the kind of action movie lead that would have me invested, despite my meh interest in mainly gun fight oriented action movies.

Essentially, loved the guy, would love to see more of him while also being able to tell what's happening on screen. Also the comedy scenes he was in were usually funny.

Okay so these are the things I like about the first movie! It was very long, had to watch it on 2,5x speed because it simultainously dragged while ALSO giving me too much information, but the moments like these and the way my imagination latched onto characters I liked made it watchable. It isn't a movie I'd use to introduce someone to the TF franchise, but it provided me with lots of material for my imagination to run wild.

first of all, remember we ALL started somewhere. you can look at my first like... fifteen and even MORE posts and they are BAD. oh my gawd idk why i thought they were good, but hey! i learned things from them. you will more than likely change your mind about certain things from the beginning of your blog to who knows, four months from now. don’t focus and worry a lot on ‘perfection’ and setting up ‘high standards’ from the beginning. treat it like a learning curve! this is something we all do for fun, so don’t get stressed a lot on it. you can always change and adapt things and that’s no problem!

i love lists, so im gonna list a few things of advice/tips basing myself on what you said!!!

i personally don't do engagements anymore, so i can't really help you in this regard of even more activities you could do 🧍‍♀️ what i could recommend for people to get to know your characters' personalities and private lives and grow attached to them, add in BTS posts.

continuing on my BTS’ post thing, they are a GREAT way to show more than what the public sees for your royals. because from a press and public point of view, you don't really know 'what goes on behind closed doors'. they could be all happy in public, but in privatE??!??!!?!?

as i said in my starting out guide, i did have around ~15 drafts done before i started posting. just so i could not stress about “oh my god i dont have any posts for tomorrow”. a LOT of ppl do posts and queue them as they go, and they have MANY posts done and usually they start accumulating and they are MONTHS in advance compared to what they’re currently posting. if this method works for you, you can definitely use it!

please, please please read your dialogue OUT loud. is it possible to say a 2093023902 word sentence without a singular use of punctuation? do people in this age and era really talk this way? also please if possible use correct grammar. just a little pet peeve, it can take a reader out of the immersion your story gives them.

we all have our lil dialogue habits. mine is starting sentences with “oh” and the infamous dash “—”. others use ellipses. just make sure you aren’t overdoing it. for example, doing a sentence like “oh— there you are. i was uhm— looking for you. how—how are you? its—i mean where have you uhm— been? yes—ive—ive been fine. you? i mean— your mom” ....just no 😔 it doesnt read well at ALL

you can always do lil filler posts, dont tell anyone tell you otherwise. post a little simstagram post, a little family portrait, updated portraits post, family hanging out, kids hanging out, etc.

for posing sims, i do try and remember where MOST of my poses are in the ingame list. usually creators’ correctly naming the poses helps a lot. for example i need a Mel Bennet pose; hers are usually ALL in the same spot and have the same lil aqua bg so i can easily find them. sometimes, i dl pose packs VERY specifically for a certain scene. am i gonna use them again? no. so i open the .package file in sims4studio and rename them to “00 for emi scene [rest of the og name” so when i open my game, they are around the top of the list! no more scrolling and i easily know what i need it for.

dont be scared to plan things that are happening MONTHS from now or anything in detail. some ppl dont like planning things in detail, or even dont like planning things AT ALL or things that arent happening say, in over 2 weeks because idk, they get bored. i recommend at LEAST having a list of things that HAVE to happen so you have ‘goals’ and you slowly plan out how you’re gonna get there. at LEAST theres some level of planning there. if you’re posting and PLANNING as you go, there’s gonna be holes. and it’s gonna be obvious.

editing wise, i don’t do much. my reshade does most of the work, i just add in my psd, add text and done! this is easily the fastest thing you will ever do.

if you get inspired by someone else doing, idk, a certain layout for the portraits, them adding little things to their captions, a certain edit, etc. if you want to do something similar and you ARE very much aware you were inspired by them, credit them in the caption. i beg. its free, its the nice thing to do, bc if not its rude.

if you get inspired by a certain storyline someone else did and you notice yours is gonna be similar, go ahead and send them a message to let them know and if they have any tips or feel uncomfortable with you doing this. simply put, if you don’t, you’re gonna look bad. we are all bound to do same storylines, such as assassinations, shooty shooty’s, stalkers, first loves, accidental babies, etc. but what changes is how each person approaches it. no ones gonna do it the same way as you and others. if you CONSCIOUSLY start copying else, stop it. and you could even be unconsciously be inspired by someone else too. it happens! just make sure you are able to look at the bigger picture and realize “hey, i’m doing something wrong”

same thing with dialogue. you like a line someone else said in their story? don’t just... steal it and incorporate it into yours word BY WORD

OVERALL: you can be inspired. give credit where it’s due. and don’t copy because someone else is doing ‘something others like’ and you want others to like your story. no no no !

im adding this AFTER i posted it but, be yourself. in the way you interact with others and send questions, etc. don’t try and copy someone else’s personality because they are liked and essentially absorb them. be yourself and i’m sure a lot of ppl will like you the way you are : D

for my writing dialogue etc, this goes back to my point 8. i use milanote, its free and you get 200 free thingies to use, and i plan out how every single one of my posts is gonna go. so i just have to go ingame and i already know what im gonna do. no thoughts, just taking screenshots. for example, this is how a part of my part 2, chapter 3 posts layout looks like. every square is a post that has what is happening, who is in it, what is gonna be said very vaguely, etc:

Okay so this is more a line of reasoning that starts at the OG “cardigan,” not just lyric analysis. I’m not exactly sure how to organize all these thoughts so I’m just going to put them in the order that they came. Apologies if this is a mess. (And under a cut because I can’t shut up lmao)

To me, the OG “cardigan” is the antithesis of the song as we now know it. That got me thinking about how the core of the album might have been much different too.

The album-making process started with “my tears ricochet.” (I believe this song is from Karlie’s point of view, per the notes in the dreamscape essay.) I’m assuming Taylor didn’t edit this song much. She has implied in the past that a song is “written” when it takes musical form (i.e. lyrics literally get put to a track). The idea of a dead lover is also extremely compelling. She made “cardigan,” “seven,” and “peace” next.

It’s likely that these four songs represent folklore’s original ideological pillars. The common thread of Aaron’s three songs (both versions of “cardigan”) is the idea of age or maturity. “peace” and “seven” are age-related endpoints and “cardigan” is a midway point. “my tears ricochet” happens to be an endpoint (i.e. dying, as opposed to reaching an adult maturity).

From these songs, I extrapolate that Taylor wanted to explore emotional growth specifically by addressing Peter Pan and Wendy’s philosophical disagreement. (Also…veer off into gay childhood trauma.) “peace” is about the strongest argument anyone could make in favor of Wendy—growing up is necessary, especially in order to love and treat someone properly. (This song even argues for mutual maturity/understanding.) “my tears ricochet” is the fallout if two people end up fighting with each other, not for each other. OG “cardigan” comes down on Peter’s side—if given the choice to preserve youth or yield to age, one should prefer the former. The album was to transform an endorsement of Peter into an endorsement of Wendy.

The three songs done with Aaron were likely written to appear in the order they do today: “cardigan” as exposition, then “seven,” then “peace.” Observe that to chart a course hitting all four songs, Taylor has to align OG “cardigan” with “my tears ricochet.” “seven” can stand on its own, provided she pads it with enough storytelling. “peace” and “my tears ricochet” cannot both be endpoints of the story, especially because they are at odds with each other. The mutual understanding in “peace” is not at all consistent with the hatred and sadness in “my tears ricochet.” Thus, the track list requires the partial ordering of OG “cardigan,” then “my tears ricochet,” then (much later) “peace.”

Let’s talk about OG “cardigan.” The first verse paints the potrait of Karlie. “Vintage tee, brand new phone // high heels on cobblestones // when you are young they assume you know nothing” alludes to the glamor of modeling, plus its stereotype as the profession of being young, dumb, and beautiful. “Livin’ in a gold age // sneakin’ to my bird cage” reintroduces the tension of reputation, youth and freedom at odds with oppressive forces. “Laughin’ like a damn fool // breakin’ every damn rule” contrasts the characterization of Karlie in the verse. She instead has a marvelous time being hot, smart, and moderately evil. Through this contrast, Taylor suggests that the power of youth is the freedom to choose to ignore very serious problems (pseudo-escapism?). The OG outro full of zingers is Taylor’s perspective as someone who gets burned by the freedom of choice. Young Karlie leaves young Taylor because the high of reputation-era antics wears off. Then, old Taylor, still affected by this loss, also loses her mind in a reverse-“Don’t Blame Me” kinda way.

Word choice, to me, suggests that “cardigan” was originally conceived not as the Breakup Song of the Cenozoic Era but a narrative partner of “illicit affairs.” Karlie and Taylor are on the same team in OG “cardigan.” They have a marvelous time being hot, smart, and moderately evil and breaking all the damn rules together. “You know damn well // for you I would ruin myself” gets spit back in Taylor’s face and is that much more impactful. 

Karlie is justified in leaving because the moment dies. This phrase describes a relationship that mutually and/or slowly dwindles. Karlie makes a decision to leave and save herself, and indeed makes the better choice because she retains her wild and her sanity. Hence, Peter wins the argument.

It’s unclear when “exile” was written, but I think it was early on in the process because Taylor added bird noises to it. “exile” plus OG “cardigan”/“illicit affairs” illustrates two joint affairs, such as double bearding. Pronoun issues with the second verse of “cardigan” aside, Karlie’s eventual downfall (i.e. the emotional end of “illicit affairs”) is implied to be a result of Taylor…also cheating? Maybe it’s the whole Friends “we were on a break” thing. (IDK, I’ve never actually seen Friends.)

OG “cardigan,” “illicit affairs,” and “exile” were once closely affiliated. More pertinently, by the partial ordering, “illicit affairs” and “exile” were meant to explain how OG “cardigan” connects to “my tears ricochet.” Karlie leaves Taylor during their illicit affair; the affair ruins Karlie; Karlie dies and Taylor shows up at the funeral because she’s pissed; Karlie becomes a vengeful ghost and Taylor is also emotionally ruined forever. Scene.

But these are not the connections that Taylor put out into the world. Obviously we can never know precisely why. One thing that does stick out to me, though, is how hard it is to turn around and align with Wendy given the illicit affair narrative.

In “peace,” Taylor shows her own maturity by acknowledging that she was cowardly and dishonorable. For what? Karlie left her in OG “cardigan,” not the other way around. Taylor runs away with someone else in “exile” (“him”), ostensibly to enjoy a more stable relationship. Her playing the role of the angry funeralgoer in “my tears ricochet” is perfectly reasonable. Taylor was promised love and Karlie didn’t give her what she needed, so she moved on. Therefore, we should conclude that maturity is really…hanging onto someone who doesn’t stay? Having the courage to stay in an incredibly tenuous affair? Apparently, one also must be cheated on in order to mature. These are all strange conclusions.

Taylor illustrates Karlie’s maturity with a monologue of numerous promises—of pretty much everything except peace itself. The illicit affair narrative does strongly support the argument that maturity is learning how to stay true to one’s word. Yet its logical beginning is that one must cheat on another—plus be unfaithful to the person they are cheating with—in order to mature. (Karlie gets burned by the freedom of choice only when she later faces the consequences of the affair.) Also strange.

The illicit affair narrative as a primary emotional catalyst of the album generates even bigger inconsistencies.

“august” both humanizes the person cheated with and leaves them worse off than the cheater. “my tears ricochet” emphasizes the opposite: the one cheated with stays alive and becomes a very ugly person, but the cheater dies.

Arguably, both people should have anticipated the fallout of the (implied to be years-long) affair. “my tears ricochet” is internally inconsistent. “I didn’t have it in myself to go with grace” suggests Karlie died an unfortunate or unforeseen death, not an inevitable one. “You turned into your worst fears” suggests Taylor turned around and became a cheater too.

“invisible string” can support the argument that Taylor and Karlie were always bound to get back together after a breakup. Morally dubious underwriting of the initial affair notwithstanding, this song contradicts “mad woman.” Taylor wrote “mad woman” song shortly after “peace;” in it, she is staunchly against cheating. (She avoids morally dubious underwriting of illicit activity on the album by axing the OG “cardigan”/“illicit affairs”/“exile” narrative, then condemning cheating and seducing in “mad woman” and “illicit affairs,” respectively.)

Again, it is impossible to know when, why, or even exactly how the narrative of the album changed as Taylor was writing it. The dramatization I’ve provided of inconsistencies piling up is only one plausible explanation—and a convoluted one at that—for a change of artistic heart. Whatever the reason, I think it is significant that Taylor performed a volte face to never argue in favor of Peter in the first place.

The album version of “cardigan,” and indeed the entire love triangle, supports Wendy’s side of the argument. “cardigan” shows that James and Betty’s relationship was vibrant, joyous, thrilling, and tender, but above all, perfect. The tone of the song helps Taylor denounce James’ choice to leave Betty as cruel and unnecessary. It is James’ fault for leaving once the “thrill expired,” not Betty’s fault for believing James would stay after the honeymoon phase. “betty” reinforces James’ characterization as the ignorant fool too. Because the album necessarily pigeonholes the leaver in the role of the coward, Wendy wins the argument on the grounds of moral fiber.

(James technically ‘wins’ in “august” because the titular character is left devastated and alone. August embodies youth through hope and yearning. James’ lack of conviction kills that hope. Thus, youthful traits are always collateral damage of the entire maturing process. And, the narrative that pits the characters against each other ends with James, regarded as the paradigm youth, losing the most.)

Perhaps this is the best justification for the existence of the teenage love triangle. Introducing characters who are maturing in various ways still allows Taylor to explore emotional growth. Three separate but fixed perspectives act as a proxy for one person’s changing perspective. By aligning herself with each character at a different time in their life, she shows that maturity (e.g. realism, reliability, patience, etc.) always gives one the upper hand.

The love triangle’s main purpose is to illustrate the philosophy that permeates the rest of the album. folklore as we know it is Taylor’s memorial to all the things lost to youth. Maturity would have prevented so many losses. At the same time, it is impossible to mature without first being youthful, making mistakes, and feeling lost while doing so. This is Taylor’s singular but melancholic endorsement of Wendy. How sad, valuable, and necessary, she says of growing up.

Lest my point be misinterpreted as ‘we can confidently reverse-engineer Taylor’s artistic process,’ here are my main takeaways from the “cardigan” changes:

OG “cardigan” is sad and we should appreciate it as such. “I knew to love would be to lose my mind?” Please.

“cardigan,” as a midway point with respect to age, is the only ideologically ‘variable’ song of the original quartet. Furthermore, by placement and construction, “cardigan” is/was intended to be expository. Changing “cardigan” changes the course she charts through the album. Taking sadness out of one song and spreading it over a storytelling album really changes the meaning of that sadness.

Of the eponymous characters, it’s worth noting that Taylor is James, the leaver, whereas she is left in the OG “cardigan.” It’s utterly fascinating that Taylor chooses to embody ‘hanging on to youth’ angle. What we assume is a very deep, primal feeling is one she overemphasizes for narrative purposes. Consequently, dismissing the love triangle as (fix-it) fiction requires dismissing Taylor’s attachment to youth—being Peter. To that end, we might also need to dismiss the infamous “I never grew up, it’s getting so old” line from “The Archer.” Many others, too…

Red herring though it may be, the love triangle alters folklore’s underlying philosophy, hence the very essence of its melancholy. It seems rather unwise to ignore the love triangle or to reduce it to a cheesy storytelling device. Recognizing that Taylor endorses Wendy and only Wendy is, in my opinion, crucial for clarifying other nebulous ideas in folklore. (I know I sound like a broken record, but I really do think abstraction in the music requires abstraction in analysis. It’s really easy to fall into the habit of tying specific lyrics to people or events. Personally, I find richer and deeper connections by actively working against that habit. I’m not saying this is the only way to do analysis—on the contrary, I think all analysis is correct because it’s all subjective. Rather, I think people overlook the value of occasional abstraction, much to my distress. folklore analysis even seems to demand abstraction. Sue me for believing that things like the underlying philosophy of an album are important, I guess?)

Would you believe that there’s more to this change than what I’ve argued? I’m weary that this is answer is already not what you wanted, so I won’t bang on and quadruple its length. In conclusion: the Implications.

The reason why I asked was pretty much because of what you wrote at the end of your reply: He's a tragic, dangerous character and I struggle to grasp the depth of him. It's like watching a landscape through a dirty window, I see the beauty and depth but it's obscured and I wish to understand (to some degree at least) the tragedy and weight of his story and what that did to him as a character. I believe I caught up on the plot points, but there's a difference between knowing plot and grasping its effects and impact on a character. I feel like I would do injustice to him if I don't attempt to understand what made his personality go from when we first saw him to when we did last. Your meta really helps untangling the mess my thoughts turn into when I try to comprehend & analyse myself. So I love to read everything you have to say about him! you should find a lot of what you’re looking for in the links i gave you, but i haven’t really done a deep dive into before crisis with regards to tseng yet, so you’re missing that “from the first to the last” detailing.

the reason why i haven’t gone into BC!tseng so much is because... well, BC’s kind of a mess. the dialogue there is just as spotty as, and in some cases even spottier than, in OG, and it’s hard to parse a lot of it because so much of it is intent and imagination. and a lot of BC seems to be getting heavily rewritten in remake, anyway.

big, overarching, general analyses are tough to organize, write, and edit from my standpoint, and they can get really rough to parse as a reader. that’s why i tend to do meta in bits and pieces and chunks here and there with separate posts. so, in that sense, i’m not sure that i can give you exactly what you’re asking for here? and that’s kind of why i asked for a specific point you’d like me to focus on instead. it’s easier all-around.

but the tl;dr with tseng is basically: idealistic rookie slowly comes to realize that the organization he’s serving is headed by a bunch of dicks, and despite his best efforts to stay loyal, they refuse to stay loyal to him. in time he says “fuck y’all” and pledges his loyalty to rufus instead, but then rufus betrays him emotionally, and then he closes out the compilation just being jaded and bitter and hating himself for ever daring to care about or believe in anyone or anything.

tseng loves and devotes himself so wholly, loyally, passionately, and recklessly to people who he thinks deserve it.

and all of the people that we see him do this with either disappear from his life (veld and aeris), let him down (president shinra and the execs), or betray him (rufus).

and as a result, he just winds up hating everybody and also himself.

Thank you for informing me that, anon. honestly, i have never read the book and i don't ever plan on doing it (yes, i do heed by some warnings). my info about this particular thing came from my tl. i saw several people raging about it and i believe some said it was in the book and others said apparently mile had slapped build in a workshop? if it isn't in the book, then it's probably not going to happen and I'll add that to my og post so people don't mistake it for a canon fact. so thanks for telling me again.

but tbh to you and the two other people who have asked me this, my post wasn't really about informing people that this was going to happen in today's episode. that's why i included the word 'potentially'. it was directed towards the people who came across that info from god knows where and immediately jumped up to scream that it was bad writing/ooc/kinn doesn't have the right etc etc. i merely wanted to let them know that should it happen, it wouldn't be surprising to anyone who has been paying attention to the series. i personally don't want this to happen, in fact I'd hate for this to happen (it messes with the dynamics in the fic I'm currently writing) but this side of kinn has been hinted at since the beginning. it might have been swept under the rug to highlight his romantic side but it is there. as for the other issue of Kinn not having the right, as i mentioned in the comments of my post - the mafia structure is monarchical and not democratic so kinn being the heir apparent does give him the right to do as he pleases, irrelevant of whether he is worthy or not.

I know you were just trying to correct my assumption and I'm sorry for ranting under your ask but i just needed to get this stuff off my chest before i moved on. so thanks for putting up with it and i will edit the og post to make sure it doesn't mislead anyone :)

Guys, I stumbled upon a full version of this cover and saying I'm hysterical doesn't cut it like I was so right about certain things and so wrong about others like wow. I don't think my additions warrant another post, so I'll just put the rest of my thoughts as a reblog. under this cut. But alright without the further ado, part 2!

Let's begin with me stating it's either very ironic or very much on purpose, but Ango getting cut off from Oda and Dazai because the whole picture doesn't fit on the cover is both tragic and hilarious. Them being torn apart by a force they don't have control over is what happened in canon with Mimic. It was their last happy moment together so it being taken away by not fitting onto the cover is symbolism at its funniest.

The second picture I immediately noticed was Chuuya in the top left corner. Once again he is seen smiling, this time more widely, but still with his typical smirk, and I think it's interesting how Chuuya is the only one besides Oda and Kunikida to have two solo pictures of himself and he's smiling in both of them. These pictures show how og Dazai remembers these people/how he sees them, so he sees him as confident, and has happy memories with him. Let's just say it was a bold decision to do this to me on Valentine's Day. Also I think it's no coincidence that all of the people og Dazai was close to in the PM are put together in this corner.

A picture I find special is below and it's a picture of Beast ADA from that one illustration. It's really cute, and it shows that Beast Dazai cares about this ADA as well. It's not the only picture from Beast universe like I previously thought, but it's still one of my favourites, because of the mood.

Right below it we have a Kunikida solo photo and at first I was wondering if it's actually him, because I don't recall a scene like that, but the glasses fit, the hairstyle fits, so I don't see better options. Maybe it's a throwback to Dazai's entrance exam? He seems a bit younger here an it was an important moment in og Dazai's life for sure, so it would fit. If I ever figure this scene out, I'll put an edit here.

Edit: @electrick-indigo found put that it's actually Ranpo from chapter 32! It fits perfectly and it's even flipped like many other photographs. Thank you for letting me know!! So with Ranpo having a solo shot, it's only Kyouka and Tanizaki (and Fukuzawa but he's their boss so it's a different thing) who don't have a solo shot, but I'm sure it has more to do with the lack of space on the cover than anything. But wow it's so cool that now we more or less caught them all. Thanks again!

In the bottom left corner behind Akutagawa, we can see the orphanage director, and this one was the most confusing to me, because og Dazai didn't seem to have any personal connection to him. However, someone else who's important to him did, and that's Atsushi. So I think it's a callback to Dazai and Atsushi's conversation about the director and Atsushi's feelings towards him, which was a very emotional and important moment for their relationship.

On the other side of the cover, there's a solo Kenji photo. The weird thing about is that it's Beast Kenji not og Kenji. Why is that I have no idea. It's probably just a stylistic choice. I think in Kenji and Yosano's (because she's indeed here) case, their single shots are taken from their first appearences in the manga.

Above him we have Atsushi and Kyouka from when they went sightseeing. It's heart-warming that og Dazai thinks this moment was important. I know that he cares about Kyouka, because he helped her leave the Port Mafia, but still seeing her here is so wholesome. I wish she got a solo photo, but I guess not everyone can get one. Still cool, that she's present.

Then we have a solo photo of Yosano, and I started laughing when I saw it just because previously I was all like where's my girl?? and now she's here having her spotlight. But her being cut from the cover again is so funny. She's really unlucky in this department.

Lastly we have Oda and it's probably the moment he was dying in Dazai's arms. It could be his mental breakdown after seeing his orphans killed, but it looks way more like the scene when he talks to Dazai before ripping Dazai's bandages off, and considering that this exact moment was what made og Dazai leave the Port Mafia, it makes sense that it's crucial for Beast Dazai as well. I said it before, but Beast as a whole is centered around the idea what would happen if Oda lived, so his death definitely fits the cover. And if that's the case then it's makes sense we see it from the first point of view like the og Dazai did. There is also another small picture behind it, but I cannot think who it can be connected to. It shows someone who wears a long coat, but so many people in bsd do that, there's no way for me to know who it is.

In conclusion this cover is beautiful and even better once we get to see the whole picture. I'm so glad I stumbled upon the full version by accident, because it's amazing as well. A perfect final cover for the Beast manga.

Beast cover details I noticed

I didn't have this analysis in plans, but as the hq cover of Beast dropped, and everyone's been in a cover analysis craze the past few days (which is fantastic), I thought well I might as well share my thoughts with the world. It'll be very loose and casual, just me pointing some stuff that everyone has already noticed.

I really want to dissect all the photographs that appear on the cover, because I think most of them can be traced back to certain events. First, let's start with the overall theme, and that is everyone who had an impact on the main universe Dazai (who I'm going to call og Dazai). We can look at it both as people who og Dazai cares about (or at least they had some sort of significance in his life, because the extention of his care is debatable) or people who care about og Dazai (same thing here), which also means that they are important to Beast Dazai who based the Beast universe on them as well.

The first important picture is of Akutagawa looking to the side in a somber way. It has the same atmosphere as the picture that Kunikida showed Atsushi back in chapter 3, but it's a pretty regular expression for Akutagawa, so I don't think it matters or was even taken into account while creating the cover.

The second picture is obviously the cover of volume 1 showing the Agency. At first I thought Ranpo was missing, but after a further inspection it's actually Yosano who got cut off. As far as I'm concerned, she's nowhere to be found on this cover, which is weird considering that all the other members have at least one appearance. I know it's probably not to make the cover too cluttered (and the fact that these photographs aren't wide enough for her too fit), but still. I like overthinking stuff, you know.

The next picture is Chuuya. I don't think it has any specific origin and it's also partially covered, but I reminds me of that one panel from chapter 10 in a less angry version while still keeping one eyes hidden (basically being flipped). However, it's Chuuya we're talking about, so he does that pose a lot (still just the thought of Dazai remembering Chuuya as a softer person than he actually is = food for my skk heart). Seeing Chuuya be one of the central pieces on this cover just makes me really happy. They're important to each other, no matter how you look at it.

Another picture featured here is of Mori and Fukuzawa possibly a callback to chapter 30, though I don't think we've seen them standing this close. I like how it's basically a staredown of two of his bosses, one who gave him a place in the Port Mafia and was in general terrible, and the the other who gave him a place in the Agency to become better and find inner peace. Both were important, but in vastly different ways, so putting them against each other is kind of like a representation of two sides of Dazai - the good one and the bad one.

Right next to the picture of Mori and Fukuzawa, there's Atsushi covering half his face which is the exact pose he makes on the cover of volume 10. It's Atsushi's second appearence on the cover and in contrast to the group photo, here he's in his battle stance. Just a cool detail.

A little above it, there's Kunikida in a battle stance as well. Both Atsushi and Kunikida are main fighters in the ADA, so it makes sense that they are portrayed as such. I feel like these single photographs (or however I should call it) are meant to highlight the people who had a really close connection to Dazai. I'll come back to this idea in a minute, but I wanted to point it out here, while we're at it.

On the opposite side of the cover, we have more pictures. The obvious one is the one with the Tanizaki siblings with Naomi hugging her brother and smiling widely, while he is blushing and uncomfortable. I mean that's just them in canon all the time, you guys know I don't like to really talk about what is going on with them, but I'm pretty sure it's the scene from chapter 2, so I'll leave it at that. Right above them, there's a picture that I can't quite pin-point what it can represent. Is it the og Dazai? Someone else? No idea here.

What I think is more important, is the film strip showing Beast Akutagawa, because it's the only picture showing a character strictly from the Beast universe. I think this may be the reason why it's different than the rest of the photos to distinguish between the main universe and the Beast one. Besides that Akutagawa looks so cute here.

Going to the top of the cover, we have the famous photo of Ango, Oda and Dazai but with only Ango and partially Oda visible. It'll sound like I'm pulling it out of my left boot, but I think it symbolises how Ango was a spy and someone who hasn't had the proof of themselves erased. Both the main manga and "55 Minutes" suggest that the Department (which is Ango and the rest) did something to erase the proof that Oda existed, and they also got rid of all the evidence that Dazai commited crime as a member of the Mafia, so he could start a new life. That's not confirmed, but highly suggested. And because of that Ango being the only one of the 3 of them visible might be meant to show that he's the only one not hiding his PM days. You could say: well, it's just a picture, but taking into account how crucial this friendship was in the original timeline, I feel like logically it would be showcased more on the cover if the creator wanted to go for it. But as I said, I do like to overthink stuff, so it's probably the lack of space on the cover haha

The photo I left for last is obviously Oda (I cannot put the cropped close-up due to the 10 pictures only rule, but you know which one I'm taking about). It can be both the ADA Oda and the PM Oda thanks to the filter, but either way it's the person this whole story is inspired by. The whole Beast novel is Dazai trying to make a world for Oda to live, so it's fitting that a picture of him takes up a lot of space on the cover. It's also placed on the right side where Dazai is hiding his eye under bandages which may be a callback to his time in the og Port Mafia (and the fact that Oda was the one who ripped the bandage off, though it wasn't present in the light novel, just in the anime). As I said before, I feel like single shots are meant to highlight the people who had an impact on og Dazai's life: Akutagawa, Chuuya, Kunikida, Atsushi and of course Oda all brought something important into Dazai's life with Chuuya and Kunikida being his partners, Akutagawa and Atsushi his students and Oda his best friend (and partially Ango who doesn't get a full single photo for being a traitor I guess).

The last thing I want to quickly talk about is the overall atmosphere of this cover, because - let's be real - it's beautiful and without a doubt one of the best bsd covers. First things first, I love the colours. There's somthing really nostalgic about this combination of purple and blue. This combination in its pastel glory is such a good aesthetic for the final cover. Then we have Dazai's sad, yet pretty expression and I feel like these fake scratches on the cover were purposelly made to resemble tears, which is very fitting since everyone's crying. The emotion captured here really speaks for itself and if anyone is to look at this cover, they'll immediately know it's going to be a heart-breaking story, which it is (so many emotions ah). Lastly I want to mention the bandages used to symbolize how close Dazai is with someone in the anime openings and endings. Here they unwrap arround him and surround all the pictures which shows how much Beast Dazai craves connection and happiness of these people.

Truly tragic just like the story itself.

SPOILERS FOR 911, 4.13

First of all, huge, HUGE thank you to @tenaciouswaste for the link to the episode so I could watch it.

Secondly, I'm going to be honest with you guys: I don't see Buddie all that much in the acting, - in the places I do, it's entirely because of Ryan, - but I do see it a bit in the directing/editing choices. Though I mostly don't see those until looking on tumblr. And it's lacking in places it could be, tbh. It's really inconsistent. But tonight, TONIGHT I saw something watching the episode first hand; in the moment.

Eddie getting shot and Buck having his blood on his face?

Please tell me there are Buffy watchers that watch this show because THAT WAS THE WILLOW AND TARA SCENE FROM BUFFY EPISODE 6.19 !!!!! (Linked there for you guys, in case that wasn't clear.)

Ffs, we don't need explicitly canon OT3 on Leverage: Redemption! We don't! We have Word of God Confirmation ffs! And if we get it within the show in the way some people are asking for, then the show won't feel the same as the original because of how it's all been done in such a gracefully, beautiful complex way. And as someone who excepts OT3, and is perfectly happy about it from many angles, the fact of the matter is I don't need it infront of my salad! THAT'S NOT THE POINT OF THIS SHOW AND IT'S NOT THE ART WE FELL IN LOVE WITH THIS SHOW FOR! I get relationships shoved down my fucking throat on every other goddamn show I watch. That's not at a level of art that the OG Leverage was. It is layers of wonderfully beautiful that almost no other show out there could ever fucking touch! IT'S WHAT MAKES IT SO GODDAMN SPECIAL!
