some ideas/headcanons on each variant of the mabill/mawill ship.

i love all of them equally

Mawill (reverse Mabel X Will)-i like to think this ship has a wierd maternal side to it, I hc that Will essentially raised the twins since they where like 12, so theres some love to them in the form that they are his children. but being a demon, theres a disconnect, and its not the proper thing. I think ppl portray MaWill with it entirely being abusive on Mabels side way too often, and I don't fully like this idea, in my honest headcanon, its a type of relationship where both strive for dominance, and in situations where Mabel is fully vunruble, Will takes advantage of that and vice versa.

Will especially, since in my version of the au. will was essentially like Bill prior to being a butler for the pines (I don't like when they go by gleeful), so in scenarios where he can, he can finally exert his power he has been lacking for years

reverse-Mabill (reverse mabel and bill)-Semi partners in crime where they both look to manipulate eachother for their own inherent selfish acts, but fall in love with them. in my hc for this relationship, Mabel is clingy to Bill, but Bill can put her in her place every once awhile.

I like this ship, cause Unlike Mawill, its so obviously abusive and even chaotic, while I find Mawill to have so many layers. while this is so much more "simple" (even though its not really-it still has layers), and its also slightly less-idk, depressing? I have more to say about this ship, but I can't think about it

Mabill (normal)-of course, this is a little more easier to explain. I just love the almost cliche enemies to friends to lovers trope they obviously have. Honestly, other than slight power imbalance, i think antis blow there "toxic" traits out of propertion. of course, some others may disagree, but I don't think they are that bad of a toxic couple, Mabel and reverse mabel are very different due to circumstances and so are the bills so. idk man.

anyway, mabill is generally also a funny ship, they have such good moments of comedy in them, that i also LOVE

Normal mabel x will-I like to think that mabel goes into the relationship thinking. "I can help him get out" to "Okay, but first I have to fix HIM"

other than that, I like to think there pretty sweet together, Will is able to keep a composure of how fucked up he is so he doesn't tread over mabel as a person. ignoring that Mabel is definitely strong enough fo r him. there so cute

I've been through enough art history lectures to confidently have a take on this point. This is just the effect of a new tool being adopted by a large amount of amateur artists.

Low cost, low skill floor art tools, means more people can make art, and most artists start by making art that looks good.

If we want to bring out the Nazi allegations against bland pretty art practices that exist only for the amateur artist's own pleasure and for some company to make a quick buck, then we should also go after Garageband, KidPix, and the Wet on Wet landscape style made famous by Bob Ross.

It's uncomfortable to see anti-zutara arguments leaning into insults of real people unprompted besides using the frequent argument that KA ended up being canon.

It's not just vagueposting about zutara fans, it's heavy insults, very vulgar language and threats of violence even towards some of the people who worked on ATLA. Like??? I'm used to vulgarity because I enjoy playing online competitive games, but even this is crossing some boundary. I think it's because of the dogpiling aspect enabled by fandom.

What's funny is that narrative anti-zutara arguments usually are transparently incorrect? Things like insisting that zutara was just fandom's fever dream followed by insults about someone's intellect and social status, etc. Like guys, I understand you dislike this het ship, but you should admit when something in its favour is true.

Unprompted insults and denying reality do not work in your favour.

Ride or die Roiland clowns leaving me mile long paragraphs I'm never gonna read for simply leaving nice comments on Ian Cardoni's IG. This is why this fandom has such a shit reputation. Every season the same people complain the show is shit in a non constructive way and that they'll never watch it again and every season they're back to be unpleasant in comments sections. You know one of the weirdest things about the Toxic side of fandoms I've seen? It's the way they try to treat all shows like they're supposed to be setting examples for the audience.

Take Hazbin Hotel for example. I have seen so many people pulling up a single bad trait that Chaggie or Huskerdust may or may not have and use that as the sole reason why they shouldn't be together at all. Which is so dumb but also bizarre because real life couples have their own good and bad qualities and having one possibly negative aspect about your relationship is more often not a reason you should immediately break up.

But sometimes fans and trolls act like these characters need to be in Disney-style-picture-perfect romance otherwise they're unhealthy and shouldn't be together. Like they seem to be under this really strange idea that all entertainment should be educational for the audience and if they're not setting a good example then it's bad TV.

It's so weird.

Can I ask your opinion on radiobelle/charlastor and radiodust? I'm just curious because, other than chaggie, they were like THE ships pre-show while radioapple was pretty rare, and now it's kinda the other way around, and huskerdust shippers finally getting fed

I don't really favour any Alastor ship over the other (huge multishipper over here) and I haven't found a problem that can't be solved or made worse with a polycule, actually (with Alastor centre stage <3)

AYYYE! Hello my fellow Alastor multishipper! And yes, of course! I'd love to share my opinions and thoughts :3

When I first saw radiobelle/charlastor I felt kind of weird about it - this was before the show even dropped. While I wasn't active in the fandom after watching the pilot, I still saw things here and there, and radiobelle never really did it for me.

Recently though, I've been coming across some super cute radiobelle fan-art, and honestly? The ship doesn't really bother me. In fact, it's kind of growing on me.

I know people like to rave about how Alastor is like a "father figure," or Charlie "saw" him as a father figure, especially during the "Dad Beat Dad" episode. But, like, it's really not that big of a deal. They are, in no way, actually related. There is no familial ties to them aside from words and perceived feelings. And even if she does truly see him as a father figure, fandom is THE place to go to change canon and do whatever you want with the characters. That's what it's always been and that's what it's always going to be.

Besides, the ship has a lot of cute potential and I'm so here for it. I think one of the reasons people hate on it so much is this weird, perceived power-difference/imbalance between them. What with Charlie being this wide-eyed, hopelessly optimistic, and sometimes very naive women, and Alastor being this darker, manipulative, seemingly "older" man. I can see how that would squick people out, especially with the idea of Alastor manipulating/using Charlie.

However, I'd like to argue that Charlie is a grown-ass adult. Considering how the aging process works in Hell (particularly with Hellborn. Particularly with hellborn royalty, considering Lucifer is a fallen angel who's older than time itself and yet looks like he could be the same age or younger than Alastor), Charlie could be leagues older than Alastor. Maybe she's actually a couple hundred years old in Earth years, but she's considered in her mid twenties in Hell years.

As for the manipulation thing, we've been shown several times in the show that Charlie won't put up with Alastor's bullshit, and that she'll even call him out on it. I don't think she's as naive to Alastor's manipulation or schemes as everyone thinks she is.

I'm not a die-hard radiobelle shipper or anything, but I think its a pairing that has a lot of cute and wholesome potential. I think it gets WAY more hate than it deserves. (Besides, has no one considered the absolute hilarity of Lucifer meeting up with his daughter for the first time in years, and getting introduced to her creepy, dark, sadistically weird boyfriend with an obsession with 20th century radio? Does no one else find that fucking hilarious?? Just me??)

As for radiodust, I wasn't weirded out by it like I was with radiobelle. Originally, I was just kind of meh about the ship. But also like radiobelle, I've been seeing more content of it and its starting to grow on me. An Alastor/Husk/Angel Dust polycule actually sounds kind of cute, and has the potential for a very interesting dynamic to play around with.

My general consensus: While I'm not a die-hard shipper of radiobelle or radiodust, I like the pairings and I can see why other people would like them too.

Additional, to those who do dislike these two ships, that's okay. Some pairings just aren't to your taste, and there is nothing wrong with that. Sometimes a pairing just squicks you out. That's fine. Just don't harrass other people who do like it. If you do not like these pairings, then move on and read/watch/look at something you do like. It's that simple.

I have mad respect for both of these ships because, like you said, dear Anon, they were what kept the Hazbin fandom going for years. Let's show some respect for our elders, people. Honor those who came before 🫡
