November 2024 Wrap Up
I’m back on a reading groove! Finally! It’s been, what? Six months since I’ve had a good reading month, I think. I mean, any amount of books is good, but after three consecutive years of reading an average of 8-10 books a month, I feel like I’ve been slacking. I can’t really be upset though, I’ve gone though a lot of anxiety and depression episodes this year. Though, part of that anxiety was…

Reading Challenges for 2025
It’s crazy that we’re nearing the end of 2024. Personally, it’s been both a long yet short year. So much has happened to me this year that it’s really messed with my sense of time, and it’s taken a toll on me mentally. I’m definitely looking forward to the fresh start that a new year brings. However, that’s not what this post is for. I wanted to get a little ahead of the game and announce my two…

October 2024 Wrap Up
I feel like my blog is just wrap-ups lately, but… it is what it is, I guess. I just haven’t been reading as much or as into the bookish things lately, mostly due to my getting out of the house and working on my photography. It’s not a bad thing, but I don’t want to end up abandoning this blog either. I love the bookish community and want to still be a part of it, I just probably won’t be as…

Review: Four Eyes
Sixth grade isn’t as great as Rex thought it would be. He’s the only kid who hasn’t had a growth spurt, and the bullies won’t let him forget it. His closest friend is unreliable, at best. And there’s a cute girl in his class, who may or may not like him back. With so much going on, everything is a blur — including Rex’s vision! So when he discovers that he needs glasses, and his family can only…

Alternative Careers
Daily writing promptWhat alternative career paths have you considered or are interested in?View all responses I’ve mentioned, probably too many times, that I’m a librarian. That’s pretty fitting for someone who has a book blog, right? I started off volunteering at the library, eventually was hired as a circulation assistant, got my MLIS, and now I’m a Library Director. While I have absolutely…

September 2024 Wrap Up
I’m so late posting this, but here we are. First of all, I didn’t even touch a book until after halfway through the month – that’s how bad this slump is. I did manage to read a couple of books close to the end of the month, though, and they were all good ones. I did share my haul from my vacation, so those are some books I’m looking forward to reading, and maybe I’ll get back on track with my…

Vermont 2024 Book Haul
Last week I took a much needed vacation, which was just a short getaway to Stowe, Vermont for a few nights. Nothing fancy. Just getting out of state and as far from work as I could within reason. The first full day we were there, we went to Burlington which is home to at least three bookstore (that I know of), two of which are on the infamous Church Street Marketplace. And, of course, on the way…

August 2024 Wrap Up
I started off so strong in the first two weeks of August, and then it just all came crashing down. I think some work stress has just gotten to me real bad, which I really don’t understand because it’s not that bad. But nearly every day I just feel like this job is a prison sentence. Maybe it’s depression too… since I’m not really interested in reading or much else that I enjoy lately. Whatever…

July 2024 Wrap Up
July was a really good month for reading! I read seven books (the most in a month I’ve read this year) and I enjoyed every book! I even read books for two book clubs! I had a great time going to both meetings (well, one I worked) and the discussions were great. The books for the clubs were The Giver and Nineteen Minutes. It was really interesting reading The Giver because I’d read it a million…

Ten Debut Novels I Loved
This week’s prompt is fun, which is “Debut Novels I Enjoyed” though I’m taking it a step further and using the “L” word, haha. My list isn’t in any particular order of which ones I liked the best, because that would just make this prompt harder. So this is just a plain list of ten debut novels I really loved and made me want to read more of the authors’ work, or wait (impatiently) for their…

Review: Hearts Overboard
After a very public breakup where her ex, Caleb, told her she is both, a.) boring, and b.) stuck in her ways, Savannah Moore decides her mom’s company cruise to Alaska is the perfect opportunity to show people that she can be fun. One new thing a day should be enough to prove to others, and herself, that she isn’t “Moore the Bore.”Stepping out of her comfort zone isn’t easy, especially since her…

Ten Things I Loved About This Lullaby
It’s been a while since I’ve done a Top Ten Tuesday prompt, and this one was an immediate “yes, I want to do this one!” from me. However, I did have a hard time finding a book that wasn’t a popular one or from a well-loved series. So I went with a book that occasionally reenters my mind at random times… This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen. What’s funny about this one is that I didn’t love it right away…
