i feel like it's pretty safe to assume the people who say Chaggie is toxic because of Vaggie's attachment to Charlie haven't really been deeply in love before, especially not in a situation where their partner literally saved their life.

Sure a dynamic like that could go sour if you become too overbearing/demanding or controlling out of fear of losing them, but Vaggie is very obviously not that?

I can't exactly put the feeling into words, it's sort of a situation you have to experience in order to understand. But when you owe someone your life, especially when it feels that person is also your soulmate, of course you dedicate the rest of it to making them happy and giving unyielding support. Of course you feel like you owe them the world, because they're your whole world and the only reason you're even still here.

Yes it can create a power imbalance and your partner could take advantage of the obsessive loyalty that level of dependency breeds, but Charlie chooses not to because shes not abusive and she respects and loves vaggie.

Charlie recognizes that Vaggie has self worth issues and places her value in how useful she is to her, and instead of making it into a toxic situation charlie takes the time to reassure vaggie that she doesn't need to be 'proving' herself and that she is loved and valued as she is.

Like how you wish their relationship should be portrayed today and where are them missing when it comes to making those two acting like siblings?

How Dick views Jason and how Jason views Dick?

This is difficult to answer because there are like 8 different stages to Dick and Jason's relationship with various dynamics. They also view each other a bit differently depending on which stage we're talking about.

The way I would like their relationship to be portrayed today isn’t necessarily possible thanks to Jason’s integration into the family and acceptance of the no killing moral code. For me, their ideal dynamic is portrayed in Outsiders #44-46. And I know people are gonna find that regressive as hell but, tbh, that dynamic is far more interesting than the kinda awkward thing they have going on now.

Although, I don't mind that they acknowledge their brotherhood in a serious manner now. Like before they'd kinda be like, "Eh... I mean... we were adopted from the same guy but... brothers? Eh..." And now they're more firmly in the, "We're brothers," camp. So that development is interesting.

Character progression wise, it wouldn't feel right for for them to be super close in the way that, say, Dick and Tim are (unless we saw a lot of trust and relationship building between them), but at the same time, there is part of me that kind of wants them to have that older sibling bond (except Jason is closer in age to Tim than he is to Dick sooo actually let's just leave older sibling things to Dick and Cass... not that Cass is much older than Jason though so LOL this is why Dick has to lone the oldest sibling thing by himself... which is funny because Dick is technically no longer the oldest sibling, he's a baby brother now... except Dick and Melinda's relationship really hasn't progressed much sooo you could say they share blood but don't consider each other family yet, in which case, Dick is still the oldest... I mean, regardless, Dick is the oldest sibling of the Waynes... god why did they have to make all of this so difficult 😫).

lmao having an oc is so fun and it's even more fun when that oc is like,, an alien species and have particular traits related to them.

HOWEVER!! sometimes there isn't enough information on something so you just made shit up.

for example: i was putting together a timeline for Tay'kaa's life and had the Chagrain Wookieepedia open - completely forgot that they're canonically like,, tadpoles as babies and I was like "fuck that messes a little with what I had for him" so I was like,, "okay no problem. I can work around it! How long are they tadpoles for?"

No information on how long they're tadpoles for. Just that,, they are tadpoles and they come in like pods of maybe two or three. Somewhat helpful but not enough. I need to know when they stop being tadpoles so I can have a clear age for when I can start to inflict trauma onto the poor guy.

ANYWAYS - couldn't fuckin find anything so I was like,, fuck it let's turn to the real world.

Apparently frogs are tadpoles for about 14 weeks! Awesome. I can use this. HOWEVER - 14 weeks as a tadpole is way too short for Tay'kaa - I need him a little older than that before I can do some real damage to him - but 14 years is TOO LONG and I only now thought about 14 months, but that's too short too.

Keep in mind I'm doing this shit without knowing how long Chagrians canonically live and if they like age normally or whatever,, but I'm assuming that they do because Wookieepedia doesn't say otherwise-

Easy! Just calculate the percentage of how long of a frog's lifespan is spent as a tadpole and use that number as the number of years a Chagrian is a tadpole for!

So apparently an average frog lives for like,, 10-12 years??? Which was surprising because I thought it would be less,,, but whatever okay? I need to figure out the percentage of 14 weeks to 10-12 years - so first you gotta find out how many weeks are in 10 years (it's like 521). Now what?

Look I am a screenwriting major with a minor in creative writing. I haven't taken a math class since fall semester of freshman year. Idk how the fuck to do percentages.

So I pulled up a percentage calculator and did 14 of 521 and got 2. something (idk) and BOOM!

With that I have decided Chagrians are tadpoles for two years and that works perfectly for my fic alright? alright.
