Lesbian love cannot compete with heteronormative love. Because its not a damn competition.
Piggybacking off this great post by @needanaccount2readarcaneposts
Tumblr media
Amanda's line about needing to make the CaitVi scene better than Meljay's is SO WRONG. She admitted she was the "only reason" there was sex in season 1. So she put it there with the full intent to make it the inferior sex scene for CaitVi's.
This kind of BS is why so many people are scared/hostile towards queer relationships, and she's giving them ammo. So many people are against gay marriage because it "makes my marriage mean less". They see it as competitive, and its not.
And here we have someone self-congratulating herself on showcasing a lesbian relationship. What kind of message is it sending to queer youth, especially bi/pan people, that the lesbian sex NEEDS to be better than the hetero sex for it to be so meaningful? You don't need to put down a different kind of love so that yours can have value.
And (for me at least), it explains why the other relationships felt so...tragic. Jayce and Viktor's homoerotic undertones are dismissed with "asexuality" and "just bros". Ekko and Jinx are a doomed not-really-a-couple. S2 Sky is so ambiguous that even the writers don't agree. Meljay became "manipulative". Maddie (who was created to be hated by CaitVi shippers) literally got executed. And is it any wonder the fandom has gotten so toxic with all the shipping discourse?

Note
No no, the mad is because she's like "lolz why don't you just move on" after all the crap she went through with Chim and seeing that her brother is clearly not ok and not over his ex.
And that's not even getting into the "turn men gay" bs 😡
No I fully agree! The writing has been so shit this year.

15 Day BL Challenge - Part 2
Day 28 - What Love scene gripped you?
This is another tricky one, because there are so many dimensions to why a particular scene can be gripping. And we also have so many good ones to choose from these days!
But I think I have to go back to one of the first that hit me deeply, with Li Cheng & Mu Ren in History 4: Close to You.
Tumblr media
Because the writing does such a solid buildup to their love scene, we get a proper culmination of all that's come before, and it's the reason they are my favorite friends-to-lovers arc.
There are a lot of aspects of their relationship that are comedic. Li Cheng is a total himbo who thinks that licking someone while declaring your feelings is a totally rational thing to do
Tumblr media
and Mu Ren is the ice prince who gets drunk and cries when he thinks Li Cheng wants him as a side piece.
Tumblr media
They are both total idiots, and also have zero romantic experience with other men, so as their relationship develops, they go through all the cliche stuff around who tops & bottoms.
And the show could have kept this all in the realm of the comedic or the cliche. But it doesn't!
They actually love each other enough to gain a few brain cells and start working through it. Li Cheng goes to a gay friend for help on the mechanics, Mu Ren does research and orders necessities.
And they have a really sweet discussion where they agree there's no reason to rush or force anyone into a role they don't want. They can take their time and let things happen.
Tumblr media
And then, we get the climax of what happens when Li Cheng is at risk from the story's villain, and Mu Ren sets out to save him.
Of course some of what happens is thanks to the manipulations of our little psycho stepbrother-loving Yong Jie, but the important point is how utterly devoted to each other these two are. Mu Ren is going to save his man from ruin even if it means engaging with his assaulter, and Li Cheng absolutely loses his ever-loving shit at the idea that someone else could lay hands on Mu Ren.
The buildup of all their years of loving each other so deeply as friends, and the months of realizing they want more, and just how much they need each other all just explodes, and they just go for it. And Mu Ren pulls out the giant lube bottle with the sexiest "do me now" face, and everything is so passionate and loving and consensual, and they don't remotely care about the toxic masculine BS that bothered them before in their desperate need to be physically connected.
Tumblr media
Also Li Cheng is to date the only man I have ever seen in media who is delighted to have an average size penis, so he doesn't have to worry as much about hurting his boyfriend. Well done, sir.

Hey funny story: I haven't been around Tumblr at all for months, but today someone told me menalez had deactivated or something so I came on here and looked it up. First result was a post by you, i checked out your blog and wouldn't you know it your most recent post had you defending me post mortem lmfao. I sent an anon to the other woman too but it seems she won't post it so to clarify to you: when I supposedly said "studies showing violence suffered by bisexuals are cringe and useless" what I remember thinking about that is that those studies that I've seen are never used to try to understand why bisexuals suffer such insane rates of violence (more than homosexuals) and trying to stop it. I've only seen them be used as battering rams in discourse when homosexuals criticize bisexuals. Which is crazy for such a serious issue and totally trivializes it lol. Also that my explanation for it was that such studies show that many abused people incorrectly id as bi for a time. You can disagree or wtv just those were my points, she made it sound like I'm cheering on women beating if they're bi or something. Also your defense of me (thanks queen lol) is accurate if you were wondering. I used to be sorta pro strict separatism but I outgrew the anger/ denial phase of "most women will partner with men" and reached acceptance. Most people are built for romantic partnership, that's just human nature, I can't be hating het women just because their lot in life in that means they're more likely to be abused. Just because I'm not drawn to men, or even much to romance, doesn't mean I should act like that's everyone else too and judge them on that standard, I accept reality and want women to be safe within that rather than pointlessly hate on them and get all worked up because some women have boyfriends..
Well I'm also a mean asshole, I'm sure you noticed, and I definitely would give the bi girlies on radblr a hard time here at the time lol. I don't have the "one side" sort of takes on this divide on radblr. It was funny but I can't feel the energy to that anymore since leaving tumblr, way too few bis or gays irl to care about that stuff. But at the end of the day these are my actual takes on all that disk horse. Funny to see it immediately on such a causal stroll around here lol
-sleep3r4gent
QUEEN I used to follow you ♡ at least when I was crypto a few years back I did.
Also, I'm glad you clarified because the way some women on here seem to hallucinate things they read almost makes me feel insane as well. Like you sending an ask saying you never thought of a certain perspective is not indicative of you agreeing and obviously one can change their opinions over time.
I really have no opinion either way tbh, I myself am straight and in a relationship, and have had others on my last blog send some anons calling me a "dick worshipper" and other misogynistic BS, but they stopped once I didn't let it bother me much. It's so obviously a group of trolls that it's embarrassing that they still believe it enough to keep bringing back the same users, some like you who aren't even misogynistic, to further their persecution complex.
It even is more annoying because these are the women who made Mena/Moideater leave, the above drama is a big reason why. The way radblr will still reblog posts from very racist blogs and not bat an eye but then freak out over a clique of women who aren't even radfems really does show what demographic makes up this site.
I know it gets exhausting to be involved in arguments, but it's nice to know you're still somewhat around. I hope you, Mena and Moid come back someday. If not I understand. But I'll never forget any of them and I haven't forgotten you 😭😭😭

Let's all be real and have a little moment of unity here, kids.
Lily Orchard is the very worst of both Antis and Proshippers.
For Antis, she's blatantly the kind of fandommom who doesn't actually care about the problematic aspects of writing/characters unless it's a character or ship she doesn't like (hence why Family Guy is good actually and never worth any real scrutiny despite it being Family Guy). No nuance where she'll agree to disagree w people about her own tastes which r problematic. No respecting other people's triggers or comfortzones or safespaces. 100% "if you like Cattdora, you like abuse", "if you like HunterxWillow ur a boring homophobe", "Rocky Horror is evil and nasty and ur a 'bad gay' 4 liking it" - cuz she said so and she has other people's actual lived experiences, critiques and trauma to back up her vendetta.
For proshippers, ....be real she's THAT KIND of proshipper (I know some of you will refuse to call 'that kind' of person a proshipper, but I mean...). Ya'll know the one. Ur out here w your unapologetic A/B/Os and Catdoras and Stolitzs or whatever saying "let people ship/like things you don't; stop being a bully" and IN COMES THIS asshole who's definition of fetish and paraphilia are so obviously one in the same. The type who likes incest and noncon and incestnoncon A LOT and makes one too many Colleen Ballinger-esque jokes abt minors for you to not be dialing 911, but then they'll punch you with a "are you being INTOLERANT of my sexual expression" bs to gaslight you about you not liking their predation?
Between obviously having made Stockholm and denying that she could have done so, along with her behavior, she's managed to run the gambit of being that one BIGOT and CREEP of a bully everyone else in the space hates. Like an evil fandom Hannah Montana.

Not KTH's and TKK speaking out on that idol who had to leave for dating and agreeing with tweets that said BTS just know if you ever come out dating someone we will support you. Tae literally probably spitting fire right now and damning you all to hell. Ain't no way y'all pretending to be supportive knowing damn well you ain't, weren't and never will be of Tae being with anyone, unless its WHO YOU WANT and if its not who you want, you make his life hell for it and his partners life hell, cause this is exactly what you did. Imagine how Tae felt when he first got exposed by a hacker, thinking his fanbase might have his back and support him, only to get hit with body shamming comments and unsupportive behavior and endless harassment of his very clear GF at the time, all cause he sunk their ship and broke his vow to stay a virgin for them. Calling him names, her names, saying he broke your heart. I don't want to see this fake BS support of someone else or even BTS from these people. You had your chance to stand with Tae and support him and show Hybe you will still stick with your idol and you went against him for your fake ship and cause of jealousy over his GF. Understand this man will never forget this. He will always remember he will never be safe to come out with his partners ever again. And BTS saw that as well and probably will also take that into consideration with their future partners of knowing they will never have real genuine support, just fake BS lies about how they will support. Regardless if you liked who Tae chose or not, its about supporting him and KTH's and TKK couldn't even do that cause they didn't want to admit they were fools for believing in TK all these years. Look how they under every comment about Tae and JN still today saying it was cosplayers, lies, PR, not Tae, a set up, hiding their real gay ship and she is a hoe, a bicycle everyone takes a turn on. Seeing her with Tae in them pictures, seeing him happy walking with her holding her hand skipping through the airport and instead of being happy for him, slutshaming her cause you mad, still to this day. Hypocrites will never see heaven for this.

Your AUs follow this format:
Naruto: am I am here, queer, and wearing an orange kimono where I hide my sealing scrolls and knives.
Shikamaru: Naruto is the light to my darkness and if anyone (Sasuke) looks at him I will literally rip their arms off…away from Naruto of course cuz the blood would stain his clothes.
Sasuke: the only thing I’ve ever agreed with anyone on is that Naruto is the light of this world that I crave to go near. That being said, if these children don’t leave me alone I might just go to another light so I can finally fucking sleep.
Kakashi: I am so gay and depressed that my survivors guilt and stress has transcended the confines of time and turned all my ancestors hair grey before I was even born. I will only be happy when I an equally or even more powerful house husband.
Shikaku: alcohol is my one loyal friend and anyone who tries to give me more work can go deal with my son. No really, please go deal with him.
Tobirama: After decades of putting up with bullshit I finally got to fucking SLEEP but these incompetent bastards keep waking me up to deal with their bs. If I knew this is what my afterlife would be like I would have let Izuna kill me first. Actually, I would have spent my time making a time travel jutsu just so I could go back and stop myself before I made that infernal alarm clock for the dead jutsu.
Aizawa: I am either a long suffering father or the most possessive and insane romantic you will ever hear of. That being said, I am frustratingly good at both. No matter the au, I will be sticking tracking chips In midoriya but for some very different reasons.
Izuku: my hair is fluffy because it’s hiding my secrets and unparalleled danger. I both could/ would cut a bitch but I chose to give them emotional damage cuz it’ll hurt for longer :)

You're one of the rare ones who actually don't ship the overrated Stu x Billy. I think they don't make sense at all when Stu has a girlfriend and is obviously into Sidney. He expressed to really like her many times in the movie. Stu x Billy is just BS and its fans are rude and rabid too.
i agree 110%
like, overall it doesnt really make sense. they're friends and theres really only that one scene where they look a little like they could be into eachother. stu is openly into sid and is already dating tatum. i think alot of it is just people wanting to imagine characters as gay (which dont get me wrong, alot of times does work and i can see where they're coming from) but for characters like stu and billy it doesnt work at all
i also lowkey think alot of scream fans in general are rabid bit whatever who cares

I’m a queer anarchist, and your music has really helped me accept myself, so here goes…what advice do you have on loving my radical self? I find myself trying to look respectable and chill to avoid being a stereotype, opting out of actions to please my family, and just internalizing a lot of BS about what it means to be an anarchist in the world. Thank you so much!!
David Graeber, RIP, guy at Occupy Wall Street who coined the slogan "we are the 99%," often said he was a "small-a anarchist" and that anarchism was a thing he did, not an identity. That is probably the healthiest way to engage with anarchism in a modern world where political identities and political language have been turned into sports teams and brands, completely divorced from anything that the words behind them actually mean. US politics at least have turned into "are you a LIBERAL or a CONSERVATIVE" which sort of means something but also means nothing, and its meanings contradict each other to the point of uselessness. They're not real ideological frameworks, after all. Nobody can give you a coherent manifesto of US American "Liberalism" but it's the thing you're supposed to agree with if you don't think gay people should die?? Maybe??? It doesn't even have any connection with the philosophy of classical liberalism, which is closer to stereotypically Republican fiscal politics, EXCEPT for when the ostensible "left wing" liberals actually agree with that shit? Anyway yeah it's a mess and it's no wonder why the younger generation is desperately trying to find an alternative way of labeling themselves so as to signal that we're outside of all that bullshit.
So don't do that. Actually be outside of all that bullshit instead of coming up with an edgier sports team to root for. Not that you're necessarily doing that, but just, remember not to do that.
Focus on the material circumstances you live in: the state and money and laws and all that shit are just things somebody made up one day before you were born. You exist in a world you had no say in constructing. Your goal is to figure out how to survive, and then to thrive, and then to be happy, under these circumstances. And ideally make them better for everyone else.
Now as for opting out of actions to please your family. Sounds like you're stuck in a family situation where you're not free to go where you want and be yourself without scrutiny, and that sucks. From the perspective of an effective anarchist, remember that it's from each according to their ability, and you don't have to feel any guilt about not doing your part to change the world.
But from a queer perspective? That queerness sounds a lot more like what's causing your tension about making yourself look more respectable. And that plays into this feeling you have of being trapped by family, or by capitalism, or whatever forces are making you feel the need to put yourself in a box. Obviously you've woven your queer identity pretty deep with your anarchism, which is good, but that definitely makes the desire to express your anarchist identity a whole lot stronger. It can feel like the same thing as your sexual orientation or gender when it's such a deep part of your worldview.
And that makes for a big contradiction in a world where political labels have turned into deep personal identities at the expense of any coherent intellectualism. Whoops. Everybody else has been forced to pick a vapid red or blue choice and here you are with an extremely deep sense of pink and black. Uh oh.
But that's the great thing about queerness, is to be comfortable existing as a contradiction, as category-defying, as someone that doesn't need to be intellectually consistent because you simply ARE. So be you. Don't feel like you have to debate the chuds in your head to explain your existence.

This "PR document" leak, has interesting timing. The talks about her hanging with Trumpies, doing PR clean ups for friends & this gets dropped. But a PR situation makes it worse. Cause if Travis is actually your real boyfriend, sure you're blinded by love & hanging with this entourage. If it's not, you willingly got into business with Trumpies and chose to promote a team owned by an evangelical 'kill the gays' Trumpie, while you're at it.
And no, this isn't performance art. That would require her at the end to go "I would never actually associate with these people or promote these organizations". In what universe is that a possibility? Anything short of that would still be a terrible look on her. If they're all on board, that version of performance art reveal would require revealing that the relationship was fake but still presenting Travis & entourage as great people she had fun doing this with. The Chiefs wouldn't agree to her trashing the image of Patrick or Travis. People don't seem to understand that this bearding is different because the NFL and the Chiefs are involved. She entered a bearding deal with corporations, not people. Taylor recreated some scenes from her MVs with Travis because that's as much leeway she has to make this "fun". Other than that, it's souless greed.
PS: Threatening to sue for this the same day this bs got "leaked" but NOT threatening anything with Trump, should tell us everything we need to know. Beyonce threatened to sue him the next day. Weeks later and Taylor is still silent. One of the only artists to not say anything in response to Trump using her likeness for his campaign. Even dead artists had their representative denounce Trump's usage of their likeness. So dead people can do more and act faster than alive Taylor! (Fyi other right wingers are also using her likness on a state level because they got brave due to her silence).
PS 2: If you have to keeping the goal post moving to fit the PLAN, maybe you were wrong from the beginning (by you I mean people in general, not you personally Rainbow 💕🤍)

OH I REMEMBERED THAT I WAS GOING TO TALK TO YOU ABOUT BUTCH FEMME JFJSJSKKS
actually I don't even disagree with you that much, just about the part that butch femme is the same as gender bs. I think it's like. butch femme at the end of the day are just identities like. it is in fact just about how you feel and like. people identifying with butch femme doesn't really do much to the world unlike how people identifying with man and woman is about changing and watering the definitions of words that are like super important to women's and gay rights and just like... health care. I'm bad with this but I hope you get what I mean kkk. like it barely affects anyone if butch/femme is about how you feel but sure does when woman/man is about how you feel...
also butch femme is like... lesbian history, too, and I think it's cool that you guys have something like that from the past even though I see it is a trend that people... are too much into this?? smth. I think butch/femme on its own could exist as a really cool thing if it wasn't deranged by gender ideology...
so yeah lmao imo butch femme might be annoying but it's not like. anti-feminist or smth
AHSJDBEJ its okay i did wonder if u wld ever come back and tell me lolol
i do agree w you that any qualms with butch/femme isnt such a pressing issue as trans ideology is, i hope it didnt come across as me thinking theyre the same </3 trans ideology does have consequences politically/legally for womens rights and gay rights, its now far past the realm of just 'genderfeels are nonsense', whereas the butch/femme stuff i brought up is more. how shld i put it... more personal, to do with how we percieve ourselves and label ourselves and the impact/implications it has for u and the women around u. i do think its important tho, just not a pressing issue, more on the side of being a personal reservation w/ using these terms
but i do wonder what other ppl here think abt it, and its nice to hear the opinions of those who do use it. like mm whoever it was who reblogged from me and mentioned why she feels femme as opposed to her gf being butch
also i def agree w/ you about it being lesbian history, and i dont mean to say in any way that we should look back on its use as 'bad' or 'useless', ig i feel more that it served a purpose for a time, but just in the current times for those of us in places where gay rights have progressed enough, particularly america/uk, using them is more regressive than anything
this in itself varies from country to country probably, so u have to decide for urself in that sense . idk englands lesbian history at all, or russias, but its easier for me to say 'we r past the need for these roles' when gay marriage is legalised and theres perhaps less incentive then to try to fit into an acceptable set of roles

Another Trip to The Shrink Boston
*Note - this is my lens and I highly reccomend reading @wen-kexing-apologist here on cruising which has contributed a lot to the way my generation views homosexuality and gay culture.
Oh man, where do I even begin...?
First of all, just wanna say that this show has my brain stuck in so many loops that I can't see straight (put semi-intended). And Boston, my boy. I love him, but he is a victim of my time (re: the aftermath of cruising culture and HIV).
As I mentioned before, Boston has took upon himself this role in the group and this is the value he sees in himself. He is the slut of the group. I completely agree with @syrena-del-mar 's read of Boston as a Machiavellian prince and one that is a product of my generation. I think it would be even more accurate to say that Boston is the outcome of promoting and embracing the Machivellian Prince traits, as I see him more aspiring to be a Machiavellian prince rather than actually being one (successfully).
I mentioned it briefly here and I would like to go into it further when it comes to Boston. I believe that Boston represents the idea of queerness being the sex you have. I remember growing up in an environment where being gay means having all the sex you can have with all the partners you can get, often more than one at a time. I would hear things like why would they even want to get married? Everyone knows that gay relationships are open relationships. It was so deeply imbeded in the conversation that I vivdly remember the first time I realized that queer people have "normal" relationships just like everyone else.
I want to insert a side note here because @wen-kexing-apologist 's post really made me realize that what I take as a known fact is something that happens very differently today and needs to be explained. So basically (and I'm generalizing here) all of that stems from the discussion around HIV that exposed or brought to light (in a more agressive way) the gay cruising culture. This served as fuel to the fire of gay=sex, Gay men cruising=no gay men have sexually exclusive relationships, etc...
Did I lose you? No? Good!
Because what I wanted to say was that I see all of the above as the idea or blueprint for Boston's character. From his cruising habbits, through his views of sex and virginity to the way he speaks about relationships. It's like hearing the voices I grew up around, which really lead to internalised homophobia disguised as anti-heteronormativity. (For the record, I don't think that anti-het.norm. equals homophobia, but I do think that this specific case has homophobic roots)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's very much like the ideas that guide toxic male behavior. Boston lies and manipulates. He says what he thinks his pray wants or needs to hear in order to stay submissive. Take Nick for example - I fully believe that Nick would have been just fine accepting his status as fuck buddy without the manipulation. He would have stayed for the sex and crumbs of attention, fully acknowledging that this is what he can get.
However, Boston was taught to believe that sex requires manipulation, that everyone you sleep with more than once will catch feelings, and that you must string them along with false promisses of more than sex if you want them to keep being there waiting (so, pretty much how toxic men view women when it comes to casual sex - leading to views of gay men as being women rather than men who like men).
Ok, back to Boston and Nick! Just look at Nick's face journey here - he's not buying any of it.
Tumblr media
See, Nick is getting a ton of mixed messages from Boston and he is COnFuSed! He isn't asking because he wants to hear 'be my boyfriend', he's asking because he honestly can't figure out what the hell is happening!
Tumblr media
Boston forgets that if he wants to keep Nick around he needs to switch up his lines as they only work for one night stands. Now, he has Nick hearing all his 'I never go back for seconds' and 'you're my favorite' bs and he starts asking himself should I be reading something into this? Because he knows who Boston is and I really believe that he wouldn't have asked about their status otherwise. But, when Nick asks (cos he is just so so so confused bless him), Boston panics. He never (I'm assuming) had to deal with this before so instead of getting out, he just digs a deeper hole and moves in permanently. In his mind, he will never get to have just the sex with Nick if there is no promise of something more. So he promises, and keeps promising, with words, and actions.
Tumblr media
Again, Nick is no buying this. He is sus af.
Tumblr media
And no one was asking for this Boston. You came up with it ALL ON YOUR OWN!
Tumblr media
I will carefully say that from what I've seen before and my personal experiences with the Bostons of this world, if he doesn't get out of the hole he will find himself catching feelings that he has no tools to deal with. Boston is enjoying the intimacy more than he's wiling to admit, but it will catch up to him. Once it does he's going to panic-react all wrong. He's going to kick Nick as far away from him as he can, making Nick believe it's his own fault. When in fact, none of this would've happened if Boston had not been such a victim of his own persona.
So basically, whatever happens next is ALL on Boston.
As usual, thank you for sticking it out and hope this makes sense 💜

I read a post that said Dean was clearly physically abusive to Sam pre-Stanford because of how Sam is never surprised when Dean punches him when he's angry (when Sam said Dean was replacing John with Gordon, when Sam took the Impala, when Soulless!Sam confessed something was wrong with him, when Dean finds out he was using demonic powers) and how Dean took out his anger on Meg!Sam by punching Unpossessed Sam and how Sam is clearly very used to it to be able to say that Dean can hit him more if it makes him feel better. What do you think about it?
Hi Anon,
Ugh, this nonsense again?? Frankly, I file the "Dean is physically abusive" BS in the same trash can as the "John is physically abusive" BS because both bad takes are coming from people who have an agenda (i.e. Dean or John haters) and/or are projecting their own issues onto the character.
Tumblr media
Yes, Dean does punch or even beat up Sam a few times, particularly in the early seasons, and obviously that's not good. I tend to blame behavior like this and Dean calling Sam "gay" in the early seasons on Kripke basically being a dude-bro who thought it would make Dean seem more "macho" or something, particularly since we don't see it happening much under the other showrunners. Regardless, Dean's crappy childhood and overall crappy life clearly left him with a lot of issues, including not knowing how to handle his anger well sometimes, which most of us will agree is one of his flaws.
However, I don't believe this ever reaches the level of Dean being abusive to Sam because Sam is clearly not afraid of his brother and has no problem with punching or beating up Dean on occasion too (just like neither Sam nor Dean act afraid of John or have a problem physically confronting their father). We know how Sam behaves around an actual abuser--just look at his fear and hyper-vigilance when he's near Lucifer post-Cage--and he doesn't behave that way around Dean. (Flinching when Dean knocked the books off the table in 13.18 Bring 'Em Back Alive doesn't count because anyone would flinch at a sudden loud noise--Sam also flinched when Mary slammed the Bunker door in an earlier episode, for example.)
Trying to extrapolate that this behavior means that Dean was abusive during their childhood is especially nonsensical because there's no actual evidence, just projecting. We've seen repeatedly that Sam has no compunction against complaining about how (legitimately) shitty his childhood was, including the moving around, being left alone, enforced training, overall danger, and so on, yet he never once in 15 seasons mentions being hit or otherwise physically abused as a kid by either his brother or his father, and I can't see Sam keeping quiet about something that significant if it had ever happened. This goes back to the basic rules of canon: If it didn't happen onscreen (words or actions), then it's not canon, and if it's solely based on "interpretation" or "subtext" or "coding," then it's just head-canon.
As I mentioned before, the "fans" who come up with this sort of "X is abusive" BS tend to be stans/haters who want everyone to believe that their fave is a poor widdle meow-meow and/or perfect cinnamon roll who can do no wrong and is totes abused by mean ole X, and so they try to interpret both characters' behavior to fit this agenda. They completely miss that one of the appeals of both Sam and Dean is that they're complex characters with both admirable and negative traits, not boring cardboard cutouts. Their narrative not only does a disservice to Dean, whose anger issues are far outweighed by his caring, empathy, and selflessness, but also to Sam, who is a BAMF who stood up to Lucifer and God himself, not some helpless victim--and who loves his brother more than anything.

I can see why. Also this just shows why so many of us hate the word queer, it means weird/strange. Homosexuality isn’t strange, so why it’s used for the community is beyond me.
I don’t see how someone could look at this post and not peak. It also makes me feel bad for the sane part of the trans community bc many of them have said they’re sick of this neopronoun/xenogender nonsense.
1) Lesboy makes no sense. Can’t be a lesbian and be a boy.
2) Idk what that means
3) Neopronouns are BS and just the quirkier version of they/them. And it/its is crazy to me, you can dehumanize yourself if you want but you can’t expect others to do it as well.
4) Kind of agree, asexuals don’t need to experience attraction and no one else can tell them how to feel.
5) Intersex is not a sexuality, so I’m not sure why it’s included in the LGBT community. I absolutely agree though that their voices deserve to be heard and we need a lot more research done on DSDs.
6) “Furry” is not a sexuality, so they’re not included in the community unless those furries are gay. Idk about anyone else but claiming that people who like to dress as animals are in the same community as gay people who have been oppressed and marginalized is wildly offensive to me.

THE MORNING AFTER: ONLY FRIENDS, EPISODE 1 ("MY PHONE'S STILL NOT WORKING?!") META EDITION
(Unless something changes, I'll be letting loose my Only Friends episodic meta a day late from now to October -- mommy duties call on the weekends! Saturday nights'll be for that GMMTV good-good from here on out.)
So, yesterday's episode was great. I totally enjoyed reading everyone's unhinged pleasure at the first episode yesterday, and I reblogged a whole bunch of stuff and picked up on some early theories. Jojo, Ninew, and Den were having a grand time on Twitter, and it was just a lot of fun to track (JOJO).
Before getting into the meta, just to put this on the record: my first expected and/or hoped-for clown checkpoint is a confirmed and committed throuple (NOT the missed threesome we almost got in this episode, but damn it, missed opportunity!). I understand that @respectthepetty and @shortpplfedup have separately originated a murder/manslaughter clown checkpoint (thanks, @slayerkitty, for THAT heads-up, lol) (and see below re: Mew), which tracks with Jojo's previous comparison to 3 Will Be Free -- am I HOPING for murder? Maybe I'm not HOPING for murder, but for what I'm about to muse on, maybe it won't be a surprise?
@cookie-kat777 (here) and @isaksbestpillow (here) and so many more folks out there are positing that something the fuck is UP with Mew, and I agree. I find him to the the most interesting character so far, simply because he's the only one who's not letting his actions fully tell his story -- he's almost fully in charge of his narrative, as opposed to everyone else so far (Ray, obvious pained drunk; Sand, obviously broke and tired of the BS, cc: @neuroticbookworm, etc).
My read on the kitchen scene is that Mew knew beforehand that he would stop Top in his tracks prior to letting Top in. Mew is clearly a game-player, slamming that bell during bar trivia (....... y'all, that was a HELL of a lot of drinking for bar trivia, HA), and it just struck me that there was a "win" in Mew getting Top to move towards commitment before Mew gives up his thang. I smell narcissism on the dude. Mew's not acting like a blushing maiden, quite the opposite, he knew FULL WELL what he was doing when he let Top in -- but I want to know his goal in getting Top to settle down and in first.
And moving towards faen in a week? (A WEEK?!) (UM.) For Top to bag commit to Mew -- a virgin! -- that quickly, particularly in the face of the conversation he had previously had with Boston about getting with Mew in the first place: what's Top's ultimate priority here, as well? Top's going to commit to someone he hasn't slept with yet? Color me surprised. What, to show up Boston? Is that how playas play? I dunno, we'll see. I'm not sure that Boston is a strong enough reason. Maybe there's a male-toxicity-driven shallange that's coloring this narrative, but I'll wait to find out more.
Other quick thoughts: what's the source of Ray's pain that's driving him to multiple and regular black-outs? What's Sand so tired of? (Family strife, poverty, rich kids, etc. -- what's happening there). What's up with Cheum, Mew, and Boston leaving Ray to stumble to his car alone -- especially now that it's clear that he has a pattern of blacking out and showing up to school hungover?
I don't want to project, but I'm gonna: this is a hell of a heavy drinking crew, partying QUITE hard and regularly. If Jojo's previous references to at least Gay OK Bangkok stand, I'm wondering if one overarching commentary/lesson we're going to get out of Only Friends is -- escaping to the bottle is not the best way to mitigate yours or anyone else's issues. We know he's framed shows around health issues before, GOKB and The Warp Effect as the most prominent. Let's see.
Speaking of Gay OK Bangkok, I offer another OF clown checkpoint: in my review of GOKB, I posited that Pom of GOKB and Shin of 3 Will Be Free are avatars of a very similar character style -- virgins, glasses-wearing, and unassumingly wiley in their ability to survive in a competitive world. I think Mew joins that avatar crew, but in a much more insidious fashion. Let's see. I love that Jojo is playing around with this style.
One more clown checkpoint I'm gonna put out there is that Jojo and Ninew do not let the recent Thai political turmoil escape this show. I don't know HOW it'll even work, but I have my eyes sharply peeled, because the political craziness was going down literally as they were filming the show. We'll see -- I'll likely be wrong, but ya never know.
I think that's it! I LOVE Jennie, I can't wait to see Nonnie, and Drake -- welcome back to the boys, my friend. This episode was fantastic, but by FAR the best part about yesterday was seeing the filmmakers go totally insane on social media, hyping their work and their people -- damn. When the artists KNOW what they made is good, then that's just like, it's cookies for us. Jojo and Den are out there replying to fans, and it’s just awesome. What a ride already!

This international women's day I'm wishing on a star for people to stop taking extremely misogynistic media with extremely misogynistic male characters and divorcing them from context to hail the characters and the media both as having "super cool homoerotic subtext these guys actually completely disregard women and women are actually so absent from the narrative because they're actually gay haha take that conservatives we made your conservative media gay we are soooo radical and progressive 😜"
This international women's day I'm hoping that we can stop painting a thin veneer of queer headcanons over grotesque misogyny that many women probably had to sit through and watch the men in their lives laugh at and agree with, just so people can continue to enjoy Misogynistic Blorbo because they don't understand what "death of the author" actually means because they saw the term online and thought it's "I can interpret this Literally however the fuck I want" and never actually read the essay "Death of the Author" by Roland Barthes (read it here before you argue with me it's literally six pages)
This international women's day I'm wishing hoping crying begging that we take misogyny seriously and not like a side issue that can be pushed away from the art we watch/read/play by interpreting it as gay
THIS GOES DOUBLY FOR TRANSMISOGYNISTIC BS being reworked as "PROGRESSIVE GENDERQUEER REP" when it is clearly meant to be PUNCHING DOWN on transfems. Btw.
PLEASE
