As far as homes go it’s pretty good” Adrien stretches out, Plagg curls up next to him.
“Don't get too comfortable we’re going to be on the move,” Marinette types furiously at her computer.
“I will try my hardest,” Adrien stares blankly at her, sat atop a pile of grubby blankets next to a broken window. Marinette loses connection to her computer and slams it shut with a huff.
“Get some sleep I’m going to find an internet cafe,” Marinette stuffs the cheap laptop into her bag, amazing how something she bought at a hole in the wall place for thirty bucks didn’t work well.
“Who needs sleep when you can have coffee,” Adrian stands up, ready to follow her.
“Sleep Chat,” She pushes him down by the shoulders, “I need my partner fully operational,”
“Yeah kid, take a break, we worked hard,” Plagg yawns, turning over.
“You also worked hard Bug,” Adrien lets himself be pushed back onto the blankets.
“I won't be able to sleep until I know how everything is in Paris,”
“Neither can I,” Adrien protests, already half asleep.
“Sure you can, night Chat,”
“Night M’lady,”
Marinette leaves the same way they came in, though the window. She has to slide down the gutter to get on the street, Tikki hiding away in her bag. She has to go pretty far in town to find a suitable cafe, too far from Adrien to be comfortable. Marinette pops in her earbuds before opening her computer to let her talk to Tikki freely.
She doesn't immediately search up missing person cases. Looking instead at Paris tourist destinations and guides. Switching to the dangers of traveling to Paris; the only mention of Akuma being on obscure question and answer sites. She looks at kidnapping potential and then moves onto missing person cases. Adrien's is the first to come up, obviously.
There was lots of outcry among his fans. Many were throwing around accusations of foul play on Gabriel's part from abuse to locking Adrien away from the world. However, Gabriel was also fiercely looking for his son. Adrien hadn’t left behind any sort of note. Well only to Nino, which Adrien had told Marinette was asked not to mention to anyone.
Marinette then feels safe enough to look up her own case. It was smaller, although was gaining attention as Jagged proclaimed it to high heavens; more so asking what they did wrong and how they could fix it and asking for any sightings of her. That could be a problem if her picture was already around. Marinette pulls her hood up higher. They might have to get haircuts and wear disguises… on second thought wearing suspicious disguises in Gotham might cause more problems.
“Tikki they seem really worried,” Marinette watches the videos Jagged posted, her parents in the background running around talking with police.
“Of course they are Mari,” Marinette feels a light tap on her side, “But you're doing the right thing,”
“No I’m not,” not when she’s watching a video of her parents crying, “I’m doing what needs to be done, this is my responsibility, no matter what a certain someone thinks,”
She spits with venom. Maybe Adriens rant last night rubbed off on her.
“He’s the hero here,” Tiki says non accusingly, “Imagine if another hero came to Paris without asking you… remember Volpina?”
“Ah now that was an actual villain,” Marinette hadn’t trusted her from the start, “Plus she was akumatized,”
“Marinette,” Marinette can’t bring herself to feel guilty, even under tikis scolding.
“Right but that still doesn't give him the right,” Marinette huffs, “After all would he attack Marinette? No!”
“Are you implying you would attack Lila?”
“......... no,”
“Marinette,”
Marinetti smirks to herself instinctively looking around for Adrien to share her joke. Then Marinette froze. The cafe was empty, not even a barista. How had she not noticed!?
“Wait,” Marinetti says out loud before Tiki could talk, “I’m going to have to call you back, something just came up,”
Something was watching her from the kitchen door as if she couldn’t see them. Marinette tries to act normal going for the pepper on the table and putting it on her food. They move at the same time. The attacker runs towards her, Marinette throws the shaker at- Robin?! It hits him square in the forehead, with a curse he touches his bleeding forehead.
“I am so sorry!” Marinette panics, “That was meant to explode in your face!”
“How is that better?!” Robin runs forward, sword drawn. Marinette ducks behind the table grabbing her plate and frisbeeing it towards him, he manages to dodge this one, “Draw your weapon coward!"
“I don’t have a weapon!” She grabs the table cloth ready to take the vigilante down, “What is wrong with you?!”
He doesn't answer lunging at her again with the sword. Marinette kicks up the table then kicks it towards him in one swift movement. With the impact of the table he drops the sword, Marinette jumps up landing on the table which pins Robin down to the ground with its weight and hers, with the legs sticking up.
“I knew it,” Robin spits and she presses her weight into the table to keep him pinned.
“Excuse you,” Marinette catches his wrist as he tries to pull a dagger on her using the table cloth to tie it to the legs of the table, then does the same with the other, “You attacked me,”
“-Robin!” she hears a faint call, no one is around so it must be from his communicator, “-Robin report back to the cave!”
“I’ll take that~” Marinette sings songs ignoring how he growls at her. She rolls her eyes stepping off the table she needed to get out of here now.
She steps out of the cafe throwing the communicator and likely a tracking device too on the roof of a passing car then sprints in the opposite direction. She heads for the alleys looking for an area with no cameras as she runs. When she finds a spot Marinette transforms running back to their base with record timing.
“Adrien wake up!” Ladybug jumps through the window, barely avoiding landing on him, “Batman’s after us,”
“What?!” He sits bolt upright, Ladybug pulls him onto his feet.
“Move! Now!” She grabs their bags, Adrien transforms and they take off over the rooftops.
“What happened?!” Chat shouts as the runaway, “Is Batman chasing us?”
“Yes, well kinda-- Robin tried to kill me,”
“He what?!”
“As Marinette,” She adds, slowing down as they should have put enough distance between them.
“Did they figure us out already?” Chat Noir slows down into a walk then collapses on the rooftop,
"Probably,"
“This is the worst wake up call ever!”
“Well, it's about to get worse,” Ladybug cringes feeling the distinct trace of magic she was all too familiar with.
“Akuma?”
“Akuma,”
“Great, perfect,” Chat complains standing back up.
“At least we’re not at school,” Ladybug shrugs, launching herself over a roof.

“Robin! Get your head out of the clouds and get over here!”
Damian breaks out of his trance, regrettably tearing his gaze away from Ladybug to the much less awe inspiring sight of Batman trapped under a car. They shouldn’t be wasting their time worrying about these established amazing hero’s and worry about that assassin on the loose. Who knows who she was after. She could be planning Batman’s demise at this very moment; if she was close with his mother then surely she knew their identities which was far far more dangerous.
Ladybug could handle herself as evidence by her going toe to toe with the newest villain. In a matter of minutes, the villain was down for the count with no help on their part.
“Ladybug!” He calls before she leaves again, maybe she could help him convince his father that he was being an absolute buffoon.
“Oh it’s you,” She says surprisingly coldly, “What do you want now?”
“Now?”
“Are, you here to attack me again?”
“... I didn’t attack you?” He had spent all morning tracking down a dangerous assassin.
“... Oh! Of course, you did- haha I just ummmm-- there must have been an… Akuma! Yes! There must have been an Akuma earlier that looked like you,”
“An Akuma was impersonating me?” Robin growls.
“Yeah, they do that sometimes,” Chat Noir pipes up, “It’s annoying,”
“Yes and if you’re here, that uh… that means the Akuma is still out there so we gotta go deal with that so-bye!” Ladybug swings off closely followed by Chat Nor; off to go save his name and reputation.

“So you really think that was an Akuma?” Adrien asks as they transform back.
“Maybe- I don’t know it was just an excuse so he wouldn't figure out my identity,”
“Well at least he doesn't know it,” Adrien shrugs as they walk through the alleys in search of a new place to rest that night.
“If he doesn't know then why would he attack Marinette?” She asks, “And if it was an Akuma that means Hawkmoth knows my identity which is so much worse!”
“Is it tho?”
“Chat,”
“I mean back in Paris it would have been bad,” They both cringe, “But here we have no home, no family, no friends! He cant use any of that against us now!”
Adrien beams his contagious smile.
“You always manage to find a bright side,” Marinette smirks punching him in the shoulder.
“So that's why,” They both turn around, staring in shock.
“Batman?!” Turning back their way out is already blocked by mister boy wonder. Who, by the way he is glaring at her, was not an Akuma this morning.
“I can't believe Talia called me because some teenagers were eloping,”
I know that name- WAIT!
“Eloping?!” Marinette chokes, “We are not eloping!”
“As in not at all,” Adrien blanches, “And I mean no offense Marinette you are literally the sweetest person but I can’t imagine anything more horrific!”
“Oh god, same!” At least now, “I mean once when we were younger…-- it was a silly crush!”
“Wait you had a crush on me?!”
“Yeah, well, you had a crush on me!”
“... oh god… I did, didn’t I?!”
While Adrien is dealing with that little revelation Marinette looks around for an escape. There isn’t much opportunity since both have their eyes on them, partly out of morbid curiosity at their little freakout. Well if you don't have a distraction homemade is fine.
“AKUMA!” They both look, predictably.
Marinette grabs Adrien and runs. She goes for the side Robins guarding, sweeping his legs sending him crashing to the ground.
“I’m not sorry!” Marinette calls as they sprint down the alley.
Marinette heads for the main street, enough of a crowd to camouflage. As they are walking through as casually as possible Marinette sweeps them both for bugs putting any she finds on random passerbys. They walk sometimes ducking into busy shops in hopes of losing their trail. They come across the mall which works perfectly for them. They stay until it starts to approach closing time, it’s easy enough to avoid security and so they get locked in for the night.
“So what do you want to do?!” They walk through the empty halls Adrien skipping along and looking at each display. Marinette stops outside an electronics store, the tv’s still on and displaying the news.
“Make a plan for a way to deal with that,” On-screen are the two of them, a video of Ladybug throwing a car at Batman, “This is taken completely out of context!”
“What’s the context?”
“Batman was being a little bitch!”
“I’m sure that will hold up in court,” Adrien laughs taking a seat in one of those massage chairs, “Besides what's the problem?”
“The problem?!” Marinette yells, “The problem is that now all of Gotham is going to hate us!”
“So? Do we really need them to like us?” Adrien gets up to stand by her, rubbing her shoulder.
“They did in Paris,”
“We’re not in Paris anymore,” Adrien says quietly, leading her towards the seats, “We have a chance to start new again, everyday something we haven't done before, a couple of pals living day to day on the edge, isn’t that exciting?”
“I just--” want to go home, “I’m tired,”
“Take a break,” Adrien sits her down in the massage chair with a kind smile, “I’ll keep watch,”
“.. ok,” Marinette curls up in the chair Tikki coming to lie beside her. With not much strength to fight it, Marinette falls asleep while she can.

Eighty Three.
I should maybe get out of bed, I swear I have been so spoilt staying with Mel, she does so much for Rylee. Every morning she is there, and she even says it to me, you relax in bed, and I can take the morning feeds and stuff with her, that is the kindest thing from Mel. She knows I am stressed the hell out; I hide it so well away from everything, but I am stressed, I always hate to be unsure of the future, I hate that it’s uncertain and that I am unsure of us, but I have begun to stop caring and start living. I think the more people are figuring it out, the less I am starting to care. And that is very much down to Chris, he did what he wanted, and he went on that tour with Drake, he’s done the video with him, and he is so cocky. His groupie ass was all on Instagram posting, he has posted more than he has ever before. I mean he expects me to care, I don’t though. Chris and I shared out our time with Rylee for Christmas, I decided to let him have her for Christmas and then I had her for the New Year because I wanted her for my anniversary, I needed that. Not like he cared, he bought her back the next day. Mel sees him, I don’t. I stay away, I am at the studio most of the time now anyways. I entered the new year unsure of my marriage, I didn’t predict this at all, but now that Chris is pictured constantly out, looks like people are starting to know about us. He doesn’t text me about anything besides when he says I will be getting Rylee on this day, that is it. He is being stubborn and honestly the ball is in his court. I did lowkey thought he may have done something for our first anniversary like I don’t know, send flowers to me. It makes me think, was I that bad with him. Or is it because he finally got some fame and he wants to go out there and try that, I think it’s the second option but I am just going to have to do me, do what is best for my daughter because I can’t continue in taking his shit, his nasty mouth too and for him to feel I trapped him, that does hurt me a lot to know he feels that but my year has started way different then what I assumed it to be, I was looking for a good family Christmas and New Year, it was far from that but I rather have stayed here then go Barbados and cried.
Yusuf is here, I wanted to change my hair “morning, oh wow. Rylee went to you!?” I spat, I am so shocked seeing that Rylee went to Yusuf like that, she isn’t the type to go to everyone “bitch what is wrong with me!? Why wouldn’t she” I shrugged “I don’t know, I barely like you nigga!” waving him off, my daughter is content so I can go and make something “has Rorrey arrived?” I asked looking around “Rorrey?” Mel questioned “mhmm yeah” Mel is looking at me gone off “you all looking around like you lowkey scared” looking back at Mel “not scared just explaining you know, he text me. He said why is nobody answering at your home, I said I am at Mel’ so he is coming here. But he doesn’t know, he did say I am hearing things so yeah. I just don’t want to explain to him, you know? They got on so well so I am trying to make it not as bad but to him he will not like it, so he is coming” Mel cringed “maybe lay it to him lightly about it I guess” nodding my head “Yusuf please don’t ask” I know he is going too “oh and I messaged Chris, I mean you have been going to the door and stuff. Personally I haven’t seen him so I text him saying Rylee is going to the doctors today, do you want to come with me because she is having like four or five injections, she will need some snuggles and soothing, I think it’s good if we go together, for her. He messaged me back, I am in Canada. And I then messaged him back saying there is planes, this was last night. Then I just told him to fuck off, pretty much so yeah. That happened, I just felt like Chris should be there, but he is having a tantrum. He said to me, when he called me. Last time I will pick up his calls, he said that I am being a bitch towards him and that I have always disrespected him, never made him feel like a man, I am like the fuck? This isn’t my fault you didn’t make the money; he didn’t want to be in the house I paid for, then leave. He is the one that is away from his daughter, not me. So you can come with me for her injections please Mel” Mel nodded her head “one of you need to cave in” I laughed “not going to be me!” I spat as I walked off.
Rylee is exhausted to say the least, she really cried her heart out about the needles, and I don’t blame her. They tried to hurry the process as much as they could, but it was going to hurt her, she just fell asleep in the SUV and still is as we got back to the apartment “this is why I hate apartments” I said to Mel, paparazzi be on my ass outside these places “sorry” she apologised “don’t be” opening the SUV door “shall I carry her?” Mel asked, shaking my head walking around the car “move out of the way” this SUV driver be having the base of Rylee seat in his car, I told him pretty much you are the only person to pick me up. The company swaps around the drivers but I said that he has to remain, no way am I going to be taking the base of the car seat in and out. These things are heavy as shit too, stepping onto the step and reaching to the sides to unclick the car seat “I got the bags” Mel said, placing the blanket over the seat. Lifting the car seat as I stepped down “you want me to carry her?” my driver asked, “no thank you, I have her now” the paparazzi did move to the side when I walked back around with Rylee “you are looking beautiful Rihanna, is the family ok?” that question is sly, they want to know what is happening with Chris and I of course. I mean a lot of people want to know but it’s just a break, that is what I will put it down too and will continue to just say that. Fuck what anyone else says and thinks, and if he does decide that I rather fuck other bitches then he is gone from my life forever.
I took in a deep breath; my brother is here. Yusuf let him in, I said we wasn’t going to be long “sister, how is the niece?” he has come here with that Barbadian tan, I miss my home so much “eh! You say my name first” he laughed hugging me “I missed you so so much at Christmas and New Year, I missed my niece too. I just missed you a lot, we all did. The gifts to us were beautiful” I smiled at him “she is in the car seat but asleep, please don’t wake her. She has been so stressed out, Melissa please can you just put her in the crib, I need to get Yusuf to do my hair for me. He has been waiting for a while now” I know he doesn’t mind but it’s unfair “I am used to you now, being a mother is first” I laughed, I laughed because Yusuf doesn’t know my plan was for him to babysit “Rorrey, can you babysit for me?” he is here now “I mean Yusuf was going to be my victim but now you’re here, uncle Rorrey” Yusuf yelped out “you sly bitch! I didn’t even know I was a victim of this” he cackled “well now you know” I am such a bitch, I do not want someone I don’t know taking care of her, I will see how she is when she wakes up before I decide “hey, Robyn. I know you dodging me, but we need to talk” I sighed out “I am setting up anyways” Yusuf said.
Rorrey is obviously not going to let me not say anything, he knows me so well too “I mean you have moved in here; I can tell because of all your stuff being around” playing with my hands putting my head down “I see rumours and stuff and I don’t like it, Rajad asking me and I say if Robyn was in trouble she would say so what is happening?” looking up at him “we are just having a little break away from each other, it is something we both need. It just stemmed from Chris feeling like I don’t treat him right and he feels I am holding him back, Chris just is very hot headed and stubborn which I know and feel I can handle, you know? But I couldn’t, he got angry that I mentioned to him about Drake wanting me more then a friend, he said that I am sabotaging his friendship, so the argument grew. Then Rakim, I am in contact with him still, jut friends. But Drake and him made a joke, you saw right?” Rorrey nodded his head “and Rakim said, I still speak to your wife. He then felt stupid, but I couldn’t take it anymore, the way he spoke to me. Couples have arguments but it wasn’t just that time, it’s like he doesn’t learn so I came here, and I said to him do what you like. If he cheats then we over but as you can see he is having fun” Rorrey nodded his head “I thought he was a good guy, I sensed he was a little temperamental, a little stupid at times. I did think why is he friends with Drake that close” he said, “that is my fault, I didn’t say it because it wasn’t anything serious but it seems like Drake is now in my marriage, but I want you to stay out of it, this is my issue and I can handle it, ok?” Rorrey nodded his head “if he lays a finger on you I will beat him” I chuckled “I know, he just all mouth, but we shall see” I sighed out “you really hurting” waving Rorrey off “don’t” I am going now, I need my hair done.
I have been very much hiding, like I haven’t been posting much or going out, like I am hiding for what. I mean besides the studio, so I decided that I am going out. I have tickets to the Clippers game, so I thought why not, I haven’t seen a basketball game in a while “you think Rylee is going to like your wig?” I snorted laughing, she might dislike me actually looking like this “well we shall see, I am feeling it though” turning to Yusuf “it suits you, it really does” pouting my lips out “oh wow, ok. I see you” I giggled at Mel; I got a pixie pink wig on. Like hell would I do it to my own hair, but I just wanted to do the most I guess, I am feeling a little crazy “I like it” Mel wouldn’t lie to me “let me go and see Rylee, she is awake” I can hear her crying, she may just cry with me but I hope not. I really want to go to this game, making my way to my bedroom. I have literally moved into this home “sis, I was thinking. It’s a little busy here, can I just stay at your home? He ain’t even there anyways” Rorrey said but he does have a point “of course you can but as long as you don’t argue and fight with him, I don’t want that, it’s my issue” he put his hands up “I won’t” do I trust him “nice hair though” I smiled as I walked off, I need to get my daughter. Walking over to the crib slowly “mamcita! Baby, calm down” looking down into the crib, I mean either she’s going to hate it or love it. Reaching into the crib and picking her out “ssshhh, it’s ok” he cries quietened down and that is when she kind of opened her eyes to take notice, she is really a mini me and I love that for her “hey” I smiled, her hazel eyes just staring at me “you know your momma don’t you, awwww. I love you, you like my hair baby? It will be off soon, but yeah. I need a change” making my way out of the bedroom, I am going to see what she is like with Rorrey but she seems content.
Rorrey looks so happy to Rylee “let me have her then” he opened his arms “what you been doing when you go to the studio then? I know you been there?” Rorrey asked “erm, I have had Rylee with me at the studio some days, ear defenders on but late night Mel is home and when I come home like five then Rylee wakes up I been staying up with her and Mel caught on, she has now taken over with that but I been working and being a mother, as I do. I also have a personal photographer now, Dennis. He is with me for like most of the time just taking pictures. I want to document my journey with it all so yeah, it’s work” Rorrey took my daughter from me “you are working hard, I will be here for her. Don’t be having to push yourself” smiling lightly “I know, I need too. I have the business venture I need to do so yeah. I am busy” walking off “you got my box of jewellery” I said to Mel “I do baby” making my way to the kitchen counter “keeping the ring on” Mel asked, she wasn’t even holding back “damn, like that?” I said laughing “yeah, just annoyed me. I hate that he is being that way, fame getting to your head type shit, he is so cocky too. You seen he has a gold grill? Like, who do you think you are, my sister made you” I shrugged “he hasn’t taken his off so yeah” what else can I say “well he needs the jewellery, that’s all he got” I chuckled, Mel is just funny.
I couldn’t help myself but post some picture of my new look while in the SUV going to the game, it feels so good to be out and just be me I guess “they going crazy saying Rihanna raiding Nicki’ closet now, what? I told you it suits you” I cooed out “thank you, I feel so good to be just me. Also smoke a blunt, I miss it. I am a little sad that feeding my daughter has been affected, like nothing is coming out now. And it’s because of me stressing, I told the doctor. She said stress can cause it, the stop of milk. Also I can go braless under this top, Chris wouldn’t have let me wear this. He disliked me ever not wearing a bra, I had to wear one always, he said only he can see my body but fuck you nigga, look at me now” I stuck my tongue “that’s my bitch, you go girl. You know what, it’s been a long time coming. But in a way, I didn’t know Chris was like that with you. I always saw the good but also I kind of saw his shit side at times, but we stick with he plan and we have fun yeah?” nodding my head, holding onto Mel’ hand.
My phone pinged again, third time now but she is posting constantly of herself in that hair. Looking at the photo anyways, the picture loaded up. She looks good but it’s whatever, they don’t know what Robyn is like. Locking my phone “ayyyeeee” Drake made his way over to me, getting my hand out as he dapped it “I been here for two days, you come now?�� I said, he told me to just come and he will be back soon. I am supposed to be going on tour with him “busy, I thought why you need to come to the UK when I can come to you” that is annoying to be honest, he lied. He said he was here when he wasn’t and I could have been with Rylee for her injections “I am here now though” he patted my leg, nodding my head “yeah, yeah. Free weed though, thanks” I laughed “always, so she gave in?” rolling my eyes “gave in? Nigga, she just. Yeah, she makes me want to just I don’t know, I love her, I do. That is my twin always, but she didn’t ever let me live. A nigga just got out of jail; I want to live. I didn’t think she was ever insecure, but she seems it to me, even though she said she isn’t. Apparently you tried it with her?” I asked, I am asking because I want to know if it’s true because Drake always been one hundred with me “she gave me wrong signals, like when we were in the studio. No disrespect to your wife, she seemed to like me. But if she is not making you happy, then you know” nodding my head “the thing is yeah, I don’t want to lose her, but she needs to learn that I need space too, she is there telling that she can get other men, like to me that is disrespectful. You know, I don’t care though” laughing to myself “you both split?” he asked “erm, I don’t know. She said do what you like, you know. I had India hooting in my messages, I blocked her for Robyn, and I was like huh yeah, but she been hitting me up but nah, I am not down to cheat. I just want to annoy Robyn” Drake is laughing, I would laugh too “I can make that happen for you” I am sure he can, but I am missing her.
My timeline is full of Rihanna in that wig, she seems extra happy, and I am not even bitter. I liked her picture that is how much I don’t care for that, but she is so vibrant and happy, very happy. She is laughing and giggling, she has every man in that court struck from her vibe. And I dislike the braless shit, why can’t you just wear a fucking bra, it’s not hard. Also why is she holding her boob in front of the crowd like that, she really got them men under a spell. I haven’t seen her since, this is the first time since and it’s bittersweet “we going to party now” Chubbs said, nodding my head as I got up, I feel a little deflated, I don’t want to party actually but I rather do that then just look at pictures of her. I am literally refusing to see my daughter because Robyn doesn’t come to the door, it’s Mel constantly and I am like what the fuck, she is petty for this little break. This didn’t need to happen if she was just truthful to me. My phone pinged again, she posted again. Tapping on the notification, licking my lips staring down at the picture. She looks good.

The two meet in a coffee shop on there college campus. Henry went there to work on some history assignments that were do this week. He’d found this place was one of the best places to go for peace and quiet, besides the liberal. And it was later the usually for Henry to do his work. The liberal was closed by now so there he went. Joey goes to the coffee shop to get warm up after an investigation if it was cold out. Which it was that night. He would read a book he was on which at that time was a book oh true other worldly stories.
He was on a story about a girl that could talk to the dead, when he looked up and saw this guy his age paying for his coffee He was good looking in a nerdy way. But he was also a nerd to. Joey closed the book and got up, walking over to the guy who was waiting for his coffee.
He leans on the wall next to the guy. “Hey, you waiting for coffee?”
Henry looked at him. “Me?”
Joey nodded. “Yes. Sorry. You waiting?” Joey scratched the back of his own head, nervously.
Henry smiled. “No worries man. Yea I’m waiting for my coffee. Are you?”
“Uh. I uh already drank mine.” Joey pointed to his table, failing miserably to ack cool.
Henry looked at the guys table and sees a book and a mostly empty coffee cup. “Your into that kind of things? Ghost and monsters?” There was no judgment in Henry’s voice. It was all wander.
Joey smiled and nodded. Glad he didn’t bale out by now when Joey was being awkward and glad he wasn’t judging him. “Are you?
Henry shook his head no. “Nah. I never gotten into the paranormal. “He replied. The employee called his name and he grabbed his coffee and they both sat at the table Joey was a few minutes before. “Do you believe in it?”
Joey nodded without a doubt. “Oh yes. I don’t just believe in it. I seen it with my own eyes!” He said passionately. “Do you believe in it?”
Henry took a long moment before shrugging his shoulders. “I’m not really sure. I mean there got to be other..things out there but I never really thought of these stuff, I guess.” Henry sipped his coffee.
“Would you..like to see...?” Joey asked. “There are haunted places around here. I could take you if you like?” Joey offered
”I don’t know..your not gonna murder be and make me become a ghost haunting a house right?” Henry Joked.
Joey chuckled at his joke. “Hmm not sure. I haven’t decided what to do with you yet.”
The two both chuckled for a good minute then Joey turns to him. “ i’m serious. I’ll show you the other side if you want.”
“You know what, Sure. I’ll take you on that offer.” Henry nodded. And that’s how Henry Stain gotten a date at an abandoned haunted house next Saturday.

On the next following Saturday Henry meet Joey in game room of there dorms rooms. “Are you ready?” Joey ask him once he got there. “You know you can back down at anytime you need to, right?”
Henry nodded. “I got it. I’m ready.”
The two had to sneak around to get off campus. They hide behind walls, ran to the next spot and kept out of the lights so the security guards don’t see them. When they made it off campus they could relax now as they walked to there location.
Henry followed Joey down the side of the road then down a dirt path, leading deeper into the woods. it took a while but they came upon a run down house.
Joey slipped off his bag off his shoulder and unzipped it. “Couple things you should know first Henry. 1: because were you step. Lucky there’s no basement but you have to be careful going up the stairs and walking around. Could be holes or the floor could be ready to cave in.”
Henry nodded. “be careful walking, got it.”
Joey nodded. “2. Because of homeless people. Sometimes they can be aggressive. Be careful with animals to. and last be aware of spirts. If you feel bad of any kind. You tell me and we’re getting out of here.”
The last rule made Henry a lot more nervous but he nodded. “Right..”
Joey pulled out two mask and two flashlights. “Put this on. There’s mold in there.” He handed Henry a flashlight and a mask.
They both put on there mask and flicked on there lights. Joey grabbed his bag and swung it over his shoulder again then they headed inside.
Henry followed Joey inside the door. The first thing he noticed was the rat droppings on the floor. He gave the room a sweep with his light and notice the level of dust that covered everything.
They moved outta the kitchen to the living room. Everything was still there. Toys, books, furniture. “ it’s so..creepy...Everything’s here still.” Henry questioned.
“It is isn’t it?” Joey ask, looking over the old yellow books. ”A lot of places that were abandoned is like this. Just left how they’d been living here...almost like they just.. disappeared into thin air.”
Henry nodded in agreement. “What happen here that made them get up and leave without there stuff?” He turned to Joey.
Joey turned to him as well. “Do you really wanna know?”
“Yes!” Henry nodded.
“The last family that bought this house was the millers family. A nice lovely family. Mother, father, on oldest son and two younger daughters two years about from each other.” Joey informed Henry. “Right away there youngest started having nightmares each night. Terrible nightmares. She’d wake up the whole house with her screams. Once her mother awoke her she explained what she dreamed. The red man she called it.”
Henry stood there listening to joeys story of this place, feeling chills run down his back.
Joey continued. “At first her parents thought it was just nightmares. But as time went on so did the hell. She still had daily nightmares. But within a month the two oldest started acting strange. The middle child started sleep walking and her parents found her in the strangest of places. There son however started drawing this man in red in his drawings. There parents decide to call a Priest to come perform an exorcism on the house. He did but they quickly found out it didn’t work. After another two weeks the mother saw someone standing out of there window in the middle of the night and freaked out. Only odd thing was that there room was on the Second story. They got the kids right after the husband calmed his wife down and left the house. Never stepping in it again.
“Wow..” Henry replied. “Do you believe that really happen here?”
It wasn’t Joey that Answered Henry’s question it was the creek above them that made them both look at the Ceiling. Henry looked back down at Joey. “ Maybe that an animal...?”
Joey shook his head. “No way. That was to heavy for an animal. It was human sized sounded.”
“Well...maybe there be a homeless person walking around?..” Henry ask.
“Maybe. Wanna go check it out?” Joey ask.
Henry nodded and followed Joey to the stairs. “Remember rule one Henry. Be careful of where you step.” Joey reminded him.
Joey took the first step and as he got farther up the stairs he was making sure the floor was going to hold them before putting his full Weight on the step. Henry copied him, making sure the floor would hold him.
They got to the top of the stairs without an incident. The two shinning there flashes in a directions there choose and there eyes followed. It was a sitting area here before a short hallway off four rooms. Two on each side.
Joey slowly moved forward to the first sit of rooms, Henry following beside him now. Joey reached for the handle of the right door, and opened it. It was definitely the sons room. The bed unmanned, his science homework was still on his desk waiting to be finish, a hockey stick besides his bed. Shelves full of sport trophies
Covered in dust and forgotten. “ All those memories had to be left behind...” Henry mention sadly.
“Yea. It’s pretty sad..” Joey closed the door and moved on to the left door, opening that one. This room was obviously the middle child and she loved reading. There were books on her sleeves from Fantasy to poems. On her desk was what most been English homework. It was still open and on one of the pages it was highlighted lastly half way down the page. There was taps on pages before the one that was left. there was also posters of movie that were based on books. Like hunger games and Harry Potter.
Joey closes that door next and went to the other two doors a few feet away. Joey open the door to his right. It was only a dirty old bathroom. This time Henry opened the last door to the little girls room. Dolls. Old creepy dolls that stared at you, watching you. They both didn’t like them and felt them watching.
Before they could do anything they herd another creaking footstep but this it was right behind them! The two looked behind them and screamed. A man red burning skin was grinning down at them. Some would be certain it was a demon. But there minds weren’t thinking clearly. All they thought was run. And they did.
Both of them ran tours the stairs but nether of them never made it. The ground opened up below them and they fail and fail though the first floor into the secret basement. when they landed hard on ground both of joeys legs got smash with a heavy broad. With Henry gotten a pipe stuck into his chest.
“Ahh!! Fuck!” Joey cusses from the pain and shock. He looked over at his friend and immediately knew he didn’t have much time. “F-fuck. Henry! I’m s-so sorry!” Tears ran down his face.
Henry couldn’t even talk. Only blood sprayed out of his mouth and rushed out of his wound. On his last moment he saw the demon watching them from the hole above. Then his eyes rolled into the back of his head and his head collapsed onto the ground. His hands slowly slid to the floor.
Joey knew he was gone and cried harder. “No!!” He yelled. “NO NO NOOOO!!!” He would be responsible for this if he got out and most likely go to prison. Why had this happened! He was only supposed to take him out on a date of fun exploring. This wasn’t supposed to happen!
But he realized something horrible. No one knew where they had gone. No one knew they’d come here and now he’s trapped down here in the basement. No one would no to come look here!
All night long and all day he called and called for help hoping someone would be walking by. He knew the demon was watching him but he hasn’t tried anything else. It took days before Joey died of dehydration. No one ever came by or looked around for them.
But once he finally died he could see Henry’s spirt. And not only his but the spirts of the miler family. He was wrong. They never escaped. They all died here and was trapped here forever. Just like him now.

The New Bat: Day 6
Ashleigh?" Bruce said as he gently shook me.
"Yeah?" I groaned, not completely awake.
"You still up to go shopping?"
"Yeah." I shot up. He was sitting on the edge of the bed beside me. "What time is it?"
"Ten. Don't worry you've got plenty of time to get ready." Bruce sniffed the air. "Is... Is that honey?"
"Don't ask." I quickly replied.
"Oh I already know." He smiled. "I'll get Alfred to throw on some breakfast for you. Any preferences?"
"I'm not hungry. Thanks." I stood up and started rummaging through my bags for some clean clothes.
"You sure?"
"Yeah." I looked at the clothes in front of me. It was one of those days were I didn't feel like wearing any of them.
Bruce headed for the door. "Kate and I will be down in the front living room whenever you're ready."
He left and I quickly changed into some fresh clothes, then headed to the bathroom. I did what I came to do and headed down to the living room.
Bruce and Kate were sitting on the couch with Steph, Cass, and Harper standing in front of them. They greeted me as I entered.
"You ready to go?" Bruce asked.
I nodded. "Yeah."
"Right then. Everyone in the car."
We all got into a rather fancy looking car. Bruce driving, Kate in shotgun, Steph, and Cass behind them, and Harper and me in the back. Kate offered to let me sit in shotgun but I declined.
The car started off down the driveway. "Well this is already off to a better start then last time." Harper stated as we drove through the front gates.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"Well, you haven't slugged me yet, so I'd consider that an improvement."
I giggled nervously. "Yeah I guess so. Sorry about that."
"Its fine. Didn't even bruise."
The banter comtinued as we drove but I was distracted looking out the window. This was my first time really seeing Gotham. It didn't look so bad. We passed through the city, eventually ending up on the outskirts again.
The car stopped outside a huge building, which I could only guess was a mall. "Alright." Bruce said. "We'll be back in like a hour."
Steph, and Cass shouted goodbye as they ran off into the mall. "See you in a while Ashleigh." Harper said as she got out.
"Bye." I waved as she walked off into the mall.
"You can move up if you want." Kate suggested.
"Oh yeah." I quickly hopped out and back in, now sitting behind Kate and Bruce.
"So what exactly are you looking for?" Bruce asked, as he began driving again.
"Sorry?" I replied, not realizing what he meant.
"Furniture. What furniture do you need?" He clarified.
I thought for a moment. "A wardrobe, a dresser, and maybe a bookshelf. If that's okay?"
"Of course." Bruce said. "It's you're room, you put what you want in it."
"How about a new bed?" Kate suggested. "A larger one maybe?"
"I kinda like single beds."
"Single it is then."
A couple minutes later, the car stopped outside of a huge furniture store. We headed inside and began browsing. "Wow, these are really expensive." I commented.
"Well they're my treat." Bruce said. "I'll pay for whatever you want."
"Then what was the point of giving me money?" I asked, confused.
"You can spend that afterwards in the mall."
"Thanks." I smiled.
"Don't mention it."
Together the three of us picked out a dresser, bed, wardrob, a pair of shelving units, and a pair of bedside lockers for my room. We paid, then headed back to the mall.
We stood inside the entrance of the mall. "So where to?" Kate asked.
"I don't know about you two but I want a coffee." Bruce said.
"I could go for one." Kate agreed.
"Is it okay if I just look around?" I asked.
"You're not on a leash Ashleigh. Do what you want." Bruce insisted. "We'll be in the coffee shop if you want us."
"We'll call you when we're done." Kate said. "I don't actually have you're number." She realized.
"I have it." Bruce confirmed to her, then turned to me. "You sure you got enough money?"
"Yes. Absolutely. Thank you."
"Then, we'll see you later." Bruce said as the two walked into the coffee shop.
I walked through the mall. I had a familiar feeling of unease. I used to get it when I'd visit the shopping centre back home. It's like unease mixed with excitement. I actually enjoy the feeling.
I browsed through some shops and spotted a couple of things that I liked but I didn't buy them. I was leaving the third shop when it hit me. For the first time in my life I didn't have to be picky on what I spent my money.
I went back in and bought a handful of things. As I walked out, for the second time, I ran into Harper. "Hey Ashleigh."
"Harper, hi."
"How was the furniture shopping?"
"Good. Yeah."
"You looking for anything in particular?" Harper asked, gesturing to the store
"No. Just... browsing."
"So whatcha got?" She pointed to my bag.
"Stuff."
"Stuff?"
"Stuff." I confirmed to her.
She nodded. "Can I see the stuff?"
"Sure." I opened the bag. A lava lamp, some string lights, and a photo frame sat inside.
"The string lights are nice."
"Yeah, they are." I pointed to her bag. "So what have you got?"
She took out a small leather jacket. "A new jacket plus some hair dye."
"Its lovely."
"Thank you."
"So what about the dye? You going for something different?"
"No it's the same."
My phone rang. "It's Bruce." I answered. "Hi."
"Hey Ashleigh."
"Hey. What's up?"
"Nothing. Kate and I just finished up our coffee. You okay?"
"Yeah I'm with Harper."
"Hi Bruce." Harper said loudly.
I put Bruce on loud speaker. "Hey Harper. You two want to meet at the food court?"
I looked to Harper. She nodded. "Sure Bruce."
"See you there." Bruce ended the call.
"We'll let's head to the food court." Harper stated.
We got to the food court and spotted Bruce and Kate sitting at a table. "So how's the shopping going?" Kate asked as we sat beside them.
"Good." We both replied.
"Get round to clothes shopping yet?" Kate asked me.
"Not yet." Admittedly I had forgot that that was the reason I had come.
"So what did you get?" Bruce asked curiously.
"Just stuff. Things."
"What about you Harper?" Kate asked.
"I got a jacket." She said, taking it out to show them.
"It's lovely." Kate commented.
"Very you, Harper." Steph said as she Cass sat down beside.
"Where have you two been?" Harper asked.
"We went across the street to the park." Steph said.
"So food?" Bruce asked.
A chorus of yes rang out. We ordered some food and chatted while we ate. About an hour later we split off again. Cass, Harper, and Bruce headed off to browse while Kate, Steph and I went off to do some clothes shopping. We were told to wait at the entrance when we were finished.
"So which store?" Steph asked.
I shrugged. "I don't know."
"Where did you usually get clothes?" Kate asked.
"Charity shops." I admitted.
Kate nodded. "I know this great thrift store in town. We can go check it another day if you want?"
"Sure."
"But for now we'll go into here " Kate grabbed my hand and we went into the nearest clothes store.
We must have spent hours wandering into different clothes stores. I got enough clothes to do me but I didn't buy anything to out of my comfort zone, mostly large figure hiding clothes. As much as I enjoyed wearing skirts and stuff, I wasn't entirely comfortable wearing them in front of people.
"You both got everything you wanted?" Kate asked as we left the last clothes store.
"Absolutely." Steph excitedly said, peering into her bag of clothes.
"Yeah." I agreed. Not technically true though.
We headed back to the entrance. Bruce and the girls were already waiting there. "Everyone ready to go?" Bruce asked.
"You guys go load up, I'll be back in just a minute." Kate shouted as she ran off.
"You heard her." Bruce said as we watched her curiously run into a shop.
We all threw our bags in the boot and got in. We waited a couple minutes and Kate hopped in the front holding a large bag, a goofy grin on her face.
"What's that?" Cass asked.
"A bag." Kate answered.
"We can see that." Harper said. "What's in the bag?"
Kate turned and looked out the window, seemingly ignoring the question.
The ride home was just the kids repeatedly asking Kate's what's in the bag. When we arrived home everyone grabbed their own bags and headed inside.
"Let me help you." Kate said as her and Bruce grabbed some of my bags.
"Got what you needed?" Bruce asked.
"Yes. Thank you."
"No problem. Just ask anytime you need to be run into town."
We headed inside and dropped our bags at the door.
"Hello Father." The kid, Damien, said as he walked towards us. "How was your trip?"
"Good." Bruce turned to me. "Ashleigh, this is Damien. Damien, Asheligh."
"Hi." I said.
"Hello." He said and turned back to Bruce. "Did you get the pet treats that I requested?
"Yeah." Bruce points to a bag. "In there."
Damien rummaged through the bag and ran off with a packet of pet treats. "Thank you, Father."
"You met the pets yet?" Kate asked.
"I met the cat." I replied, thinking back to that first day.
Bruce chuckled. "Dick told me about that. We've also got two dogs. Ace and Titus."
"I haven't seen them around."
"Ace spends a lot of time in the cave and Titus is usually wherever Damien is."
"I'll give you a hand up with these bags." Kate said.
"I can manage."
"Nah, I'll help." Kate grabbed some of the bags and quickly headed up the stairs.
"I guess she's helping." Bruce commented.
"I guess so." I grabbed the rest of my bags and followed her up. "Thanks again Bruce."
"No problem."
I entered my room and Kate was sitting on my bed holding the bag from earlier. I set down my bags by the ones she had brought up. "Hey."
Kate grinned. "Hi."
"Is something up?"
She held the bag towards me. "Take a look."
I looked the bag. Inside was a Lego set, the Batcave. I looked back at Kate in amazement. "Where'd you get this?"
"Found it on the back of a shelf in a store. I thought you'd like it."
I stopped myself from running forward and hugging her. "I love it. Thank you so much."
"Your welcome."
"I always wanted this, but by the time I could afford it I couldn't find it anywhere."
"Guess I got lucky."
"Yeah." I was still contemplating hugging her. Would she be okay with that? I mean she was totally okay with hugs yesterday, but would it be weird for me to just hug her randomly. I really should figure out this families opinions on random displays of affection.
"So you are you going to make it tonight or wait?" Kate asked, derailing my train of thought.
"Probably tonight." I admitted excitedly. "I have like no self control when it comes to stuff like this."
Kate giggled. "Maybe you'd like some help with it? Or even just some company while you do it?"
"Sure if you'd like."
"Yah." Kate hopped up. "Hold that thought." And she ran out of the room.
I watched the door curiously until Kate returned, holding a plate with two slices of the cake I had helped bake the night before, and two bottles of fizzy mineral. "Snacks." Kate smiled.
I gladly took my slice of cake and drink. "Thanks."
"So shall we get started?"
"Yeah." I carefully opened the box and dumped the contents out.
"So how does this work?" Kate asked looking at the pieces.
"You put them together?"
"I know that," Kate exclaimed. "I mean how does it work with two of us."
"Oooh. I don't know actually."
"You build and I hand you the pieces." Kate suggested.
"Or one of us could build the cave, and the other the vehicle." I suggested.
"Sounds good. Which is more substantial?"
"Definitely the cave." I quickly replied.
"Then you take that one."
"You sure?"
"Yeah. Absolutely."
Two hours, a couple slices of cake, and a pair of fizzy drinks later, and it was complete.
"And now for the most important part." Kate said as she placed the Batwoman figure on the center catwalk.
"Is that why you chose this one?"
"I couldn't just let you not have a Batwoman figure." Kate stated smiling.
"Does this mean I have to get you one with Nightwing in it?" Dick joked, standing in the open doorway. "Alfreds putting on supper. Want some?"
"No thanks." Kate and I said in unison.
"I see you two already ate." Dick said pointing to the cake covered plate.
I yawned. "Are you tired?" Kate asked.
I nodded. They looked at me curiously. "It has been a long day." Dick said.
"You want us to leave so you can sleep?"
"If you dont mind." I replied.
"Of course not."
"You sure you're alright?" Dick asked.
"Of course, it's just... been a long day."
The two left the room leaving me alone. I threw on a baggy t-shirt and and pair of shorts and jump into bed. A couple minutes later I heard a knock at my door. I sat up. "Come in."
"Hey." Bruce said, as he entered and shut the door behind him. "Are you feeling alright?"
"Yeah. Why?"
"You just seem to be tired a lot."
"I- I haven't been sleeping well." I admitted.
"Nightmares?"
"No. I haven't had any since I arrived." Well that's not entirely through but I haven't had one the last couple of nights. "I just... wake up a couple times a night. It takes a while to get back to sleep each time."
"If it's the bed, you can stay in another room."
"No, it's not the bed."
"Then what?"
I sighed. "I don't know."
"That's okay. If you want I can stay with you?" Bruce offered.
I really would love for him to stay but I wouldn't admit that. "No thanks, I'll be fine."
"I'm sure Dick or Kate would be willing to, if you want someone to stay?"
"I'm fine. I promise. It's probably just... You know, new place."
Bruce stood up. "If you say so, but the offer will always be there." He gentle pushed me down. "Get some rest."
"Thanks Bruce. Goodnight."
He stood up. "Goodnight Ashleigh."
Every part of my mind wanted him to come back. To tuck me in. To lie in beside me. To hug me. To gently kiss my forehead. To show me more affection. But I didn't ask, I just watched as the door shut.

AN: We're back after a brief interlude, but here is the next chapter. The biggest deliberation writing this one was the ending. Mao Mao sat on the couch. He had a book in his hands, but his eyes glazed over the words. Occasionally, he stole glances at the door, realized his mistake, and went back to the book he wasn’t reading. He considered looking up from the book, maybe time would go faster if he watched cartoons with Adorabat. He quickly realized that watching What’s New Lucky Ducky would only make him more impatient. Maybe he should try seeing what Badgerclops was up to? Granted, if it was anything technical, which it always was, he wouldn’t be able to help.
Ding-Dong!
Mao Mao looked to the monster alarm before remembering that Badgerclops installed a doorbell. He leaped to his feet and swung open the door, swiftly swiping the package from Mail-Mole’s hands. He set it down on the table and unsheathed a single claw.
“Hey, Mao Mao.”
He swung around to find Adorbat standing behind him.
“What’s in the package,” she asked, flying up to his shoulder.
“Oh. Its-,” Mao Mao hesitated, he was about to say nothing off of pure reflex, but he looked down at the package. He wasn’t at home anymore, he wasn’t bound by family either. There was no reason to hide it.
“It’s a… how to say this… a Rubber Ducky toy.”
“A toy! I wanna see! I wanna see!”
Mao Mao quickly snatched the contents from the box, holding it high in the air out of Adorabat’s reach.
“This isn’t just a toy. It was expensive. Be careful with it, okay?”
“Fine,” she groaned.
Inside the package was another package. A box that was one of those hard, plastic clamshell things with a small egg-shaped thing sealed inside. He brought it down to Adorabat’s eye level as she began to read it over.
“Virtual Pet? Hey, I have one of these.”
“No, no, no. You may have one of the gatchis, maybe a rerelease, but this is different. Check this out,” Mao Mao pointed to a small worn sticker on the back. “See 1988. A sealed, first-generation, blue egg Ducky-Gatchi.”
“Wow. 1988… that’s almost as old as you,” she said.
“Yeah- wait, how old do you think I am?”
His question never got answered as their attention was pulled away by Badgerclops. “Hey, Mao, someone used one of your pointy things as a screwdriver and broke it,” he called out as he came up the stairs.
“You did what!”
Mao Mao inhaled sharply. He’d learned his lesson after yesterday’s stroke, besides he didn’t have health insurance.
“Watcha’ got there?” Badgerclops leaned in for a closer look.”You buy Adorabat a new toy?”
“No, I didn’t buy it for Adorabat,” Mao Mao said in a small voice,” I bought it for myself.”
“Aren’t you a little too old to be playing with toys?”
“What? Are you crazy? I’m not playing with this! I spent $1000 on this!”
Oops.
Badgerclops slowly turned to Mao Mao. “Does this have anything to do with your Lucky Ducky obsession?”
“What? I don’t have a- haha, is it getting hot in here? I’m going to step out to get some air.”
Mao Mao was almost out the door when Badgerclops’ robotic arm grabbed him by the cape and pulled him back to the table. “Why did you spend $1000 on a Ducky-Gatchi?”
“It’s not just a Ducky-Gatchi. It's from the first run of the product. The Ducky-Gatchis were released in eight colors with eight shapes. There’s supposed to be roughly a 6435 chance of any specific combination, but a manufacturer’s error made blue eggs even rarer than that. This blue egg gatchi is still sealed in the plastic, and it's been taken care of really well. The clamshell packaging hasn’t even started to yellow.”
Badgerclops frowned and crossed his arms. He held it for a few seconds before relenting with a heavy sigh. “Fine,” he groaned,” just don’t spend so much money on this stuff.”
“Hot dog! I knew you’d come around,” Mao Mao slapped Badgerclops on the back before going back to the Ducky-Gatchi,” still have to find a place to display this, though.”
“Hey Adorabat. Don't you--,” Mao Mao looked around to find Adorabat nowhere in sight.
“Where’d she go?”
“I don’t know She was here a moment ago,” Badgerclops.
“Hey, Mao Mao,” her voice called from the other room,” I told you I had one.”

Badgerclops watched Mao Mao head off into the bedroom. He picked up the Ducky-Gatchi he left on the table. This thing was definitely not worth $1000. He would have been madder if Mao Mao hadn’t looked so happy. The smile was different from the normal ones; it didn’t have any boastful pride, reckless ambition, or ego-saving denial. Badgerclops had traveled with Mao Mao for years yet this is the first time he’s seen a smile of indulgent joy. It was a good look on him and Badgerclops knew he ought to do what he can to make it more common. Although, Mao Mao could stand to learn some moderation.
He held the Duck-Gatchi up and did his best to see why he’d spend $1000 on it. Value is a subjective thing, so what value did this have to Mao Mao? It likely had something to do with his childhood (every odd thing about him did) so how did this relate back? Badgerclops first thought was Mao Mao’s father. He wasn’t like how Mao Mao described him. Badgerclops mind began to wander back to the night when Mao Mao had a stroke. And the night he met the root of Mao Mao’s problems.

Again, Badgerclops was spending the night in Camille’s tower. Again, he sat off to the side to watch Honey and Camille work. Again, he found himself powerless. The only thing different this time was that he did his best to ignore the infuriating metallic tap! tap! tap! from Mao Mao’s dad who crossed his arms and wouldn't stop tapping his finger. Badgerclops stole a glance at him.
He could sort of see the resemblance between Mao Mao and his father. Shin had a more angled face and grayer fur, not to mention those golden eyes. First time he’s heard of a cat having eyes like that. There was little resemblance between him and his grandson. Granted, there wasn’t that much resemblance between Jǐngtì and his own father. The black and brown patterned fur, tufted arms, white stomach, and blue eyes were certainly from Jǐngtì’s mother. He only shared the round face and pointy ears with his father’s side. Shin was impressively tall. Neither Jǐngtì nor Mao Mao had that. Shin’s made Mao Mao look downright pathetic compared to him. Then again he would look pathetic compared to anyone when he was lying on a table.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
It’s a good thing that Adorabat wasn’t here, although he wasn’t sure if they’d make the play. Should he take her home after the play, or stop by with her in tow. Should he leave Mao Mao to attend the play alone and leave Mao Mao here, or should he wait here? It’d hurt to not have either of them show up for the play, but she would understand, right? Maybe he could
Tap! Tap! Tap!
Maybe he could talk to the teacher and pull Adorabat out of the play. This is an emergency.
Tap! Tap! Tap!
Could he not be so fucking annoying? Badgerclops sighed, trying to resume the line of thought, but found it fleeting. He was racking his brain until he was just trying to block Shin out, yet he kept tap! tap! tapping! away.
Eventually, it was too much. Badgerclops turned to Shin,” could you possibly be quiet for one second,” he snapped.
Shin seemed almost confused for a second, then he seemed indignant. “Excuse me for being worried about my son,” he shot back.
“For the first time,” Badgerclops mumbled.
“What was that, boy? I can’t hear you from down there.”
“I said that its a funny time to suddenly start caring about him!”
Shin stumbled back like he’d been hit in the chest. “That’s… that’s preposterous. Where would you even get that idea?” His words were shaky, lacking that artificial confident inflection that his son copied.
“I don’t know, maybe I’ve actually paid attention to anything he says for more than five minutes?”
"You're talking like you my son better than I do."
Before they could get any louder, they were interrupted by a loud “ahem” that turned their heads. Honey was pointing at the door with that placid look on her face; The mute’s message was heard loud in clear. Shin held the door open for Badgerclops as they took it into the hall outside. They didn’t start arguing again. The rising tension gave way to a sickening sense of shame. They both retreated to their own corners, to their own minds.
“What do you know about us,” Shin mumbled under his breath.
“Enough,” Badgerclops answered back.
Shin looked up, confused before he realized he was thinking out loud. He didn’t say anything back, instead, he dismissed Badgerclops with a grumble.
“Why did you do that?”
“Do what?”
“You saw him back there? Why’d you attack your son?”
“What are you talking about? I never attacked him. He attacked me!”
“How do you explain the broken bones, the bleeding, the bruising, the three-inch hole in his side?”
Shin didn’t snap back. His face went pale and it looked like he was about to vomit. “I.. have done no such thing.”
“Then who did? You were the only person at the house after that.”
“I don’t know. That’s not what happened?”
“Then what did happen?”
Shin reared up like he was going to say something back before his shoulders slumped as his gaze went to the floor. “I.. my wife said that I should visit, so I did. When I did show up Mao Mao was bleeding all over the place. I didn’t know what happened. He.. had some glass in his side. I got it out and then… I don’t know.”
“What happened?”
“We… got into an argument. A bad one. He chased me around the house, told me I was a grandfather, and then told me he didn’t want to see me again.”
“Is that it?”
“Yes! That’s what happened! I learned that my own son hates me more than anything in the world. There! Are you happy?”
Badgerclops examine Shin. His flicked back ears, averted gaze, thee closed hands, and receding posture. It didn’t seem like he was lying. Which begs the question, what happened next? The timeline he had down states that he met Jǐngtì , which is where the glass came from. After that, he met Shin, who removed the glass, so how did he get the 3-inch hole in his side? Who else could have possibly visited?
“I think I should be going.”
“I don't think I’m the first thing my son wants to see when he wakes up,” Shin justified. It was aimed at Badgerclops but he could tell Shin was talking to himself.
Badgerclops was felt the urge to stop him. Not because he thought Shin was wrong, but because Shin was the only lead he had. He looked to Shin’s hands. They found the missing finger, so Shin was certainly there, but those claw marks didn’t fit those. They didn’t fit Mao Mao or Jǐngtì’s, so those claw marks belonged to someone else?
He had to rule out Shin, so Badgerclops let him go, watching him trudge down the hall.
Ironic, he thought becoming working in the Pure Heart valley would be tedious work, but here he is doing it of his own violation. Maybe Mao Mao would remember something when he woke up. He had to find out who. Who did this?
Badgerclops set the question aside, returning to the present. He’s dwelled on that question for hours already, and he’d dwell on it some more but right now he set the box back on the table. He titled his head to the other room to get a better look. Mao Mao and Adorabat have been in there a while. Long enough for him to dwell at least.
* * *
“Mao Mao,” he heard Badgerclops call out.
“Yeah,” he answered back, not taking his eyes off the screen.
He had a well-worn ducky-gatchi in his hands. The plastic had begun to chip, there was a scratch on the screen, and the sound chip or speakers must’ve broken cause it made no sound. Adorabat quietly watched Mao Mao over his shoulder. Mao Mao could hear Badgerclops’ heavy footsteps as he approached.
“What’re you doing,” he asked.
Mao Mao shook the ducky-gatchi in his hands. “She actually had one. Though it's out of package and heavily used so it’d be $300 at most.”
“I’d hate to interrupt you having fun, but we gotta make lunch.”
Mao Mao was going to disagree. It should be noon maybe a little after, but the pit in his stomach said otherwise. He might've played this longer than he thought. He passed it to Adorabat to follow Badgerclops to the Kitchen.
“What are we making,” he asked.
“Actually, I wanted to ask you something.”
Mao Mao paused. “What’s up,” he asked.
“Relax,” Badgerclops said,” you’re not in trouble or anything. I just want to make sure everything’s okay.”
“Why would anything not be okay,” he deflected.
"I just want to know why you bought the ducky-gatchi."
"Oh, that was just... something I've always wanted, but never actually got."
"Does it have to with your dad?"
"Yeah," he sighed," papa -er, Shin- never really approved of my... Lucky Ducky thing, so now I'm not involved with him anymore I thought-"
Badgerclops placed a hand on his shoulder," don't worry I'm not mad at you. Just try to be more careful with money."
Ring! Ring! Ring! The monster alarm blared on the wall.
“Yeah, thanks” Mao Mao,” Adorabat c’mon we got work to do.”
* * *
Mao Mao rode into the Valley Plaza only to be stricken with a bit of disappointment when he saw what it was. “You know you shoulda installed a second alarm during renovations.”
“Do we really need one though?”
“Well, one of us could be halfway done making lunch instead of dealing with this mess.”
Mao Mao pointed his thumb at the huddled, shouting mass of limbs that were the Sky Pirates' regular arguments. It got to the point they were actually kicking up a cloud of dust like this was a cartoon. Although… someone was missing.
He patted Badgerclops’ shoulder. “Hey, have you seen-”
“2nd store window. Three houses left.”
Mao Mao followed the instructions to find his son, lounging on windowsill, looking down on everything dispassionately. Almost everything. When he caught his eye he turned away. To think today started so well.
“That’s enough!”
Mao Mao turned to Orangusnake right in time to keep himself from being cleaved in two. He caught the strike with Geraldine locking blades for a second as the fight began, but something was different this time. Orangusnake’s blows were quicker, heavier. Each hit shook his sword like a bell. What was wrong? What was different?
Mao Mao blocked a strike that sent him crashing through police barriers. When did he set these up? He didn’t have time to think about it. Orangusnake was silhouetted in the sun with a war-ax brandished. Mao Mao stepped back to get out the way but stumbled. His foot was caught in something. A hole? What was a- oh no.
Clang!
Mao Mao had blocked the strike perfectly yet it sent tremors down his body and forced a web of cracks to snake across the ground. The police barriers were there for a reason. A reason he needed to address before someone got caught in it. The ground shook and shuddered as it began to give way, plunging Mao Mao and Orangusnake into the dark depths of the sinkhole.

Orc Boyfriend (Torug Part 1/??)
Yep. It’s Orctober, and I love orcs.
Diana scowled looking at the gym across the street, she hadn’t been thrilled when it had first moved into what used to be her favorite art gallery. But times have changed and the owners decided to move somewhere more tropical. It had sat empty for months and the artists that use to sell their art in the gallery had asked her if she had any room for their works. Diana had hesitated at first, she was a tea store, not an art gallery and she had a certain aesthetic to maintain. After debating for a few weeks she relented and decided that her niche maybe had a little room to expand. The best part about the change to her store was that patrons of the old art gallery started coming in and purchasing tea from her, which was a blessing in disguise.
Diana hadn’t even heard about a gym being brought into the old art gallery building until one of her friends from the bakery down the street (a lovely old dwarf woman who had been baking since before Diana’s father had been born). Had mentioned in passing that someone had purchased the building.

“Oh and the old art gallery has been purchased finally. I think the McClint’s are very happy with the offer too!” Diana blinked a few times before taking a sip of the Tian Jian she was trying out. The almost rosey sweet flavour of the tea hit her tongue and as she swallowed she tasted a dark flavour that made her smile. She took a bite of the lavender shortbread Elora had made.
“I’m sorry did you actually say that someone has purchased the old art building? Did Mr & Mr McClint settle for less? Because they were asking a decent amount for this area.” Elora smiled and took a sip of tea. She pursed her lips as she swallowed.
“Maybe not my favorite dear, and maybe the lavender shortbread was wrong for this tea. Perhaps something with a berry flavour to offset the floral undertones of this one. No they didn’t settle for less, in fact the person who bought it paid a little bit more. Jake McClint said the person said something about this being in a good “family place”. Who knows maybe the person wants to start a new family business! Oh I hope it’s grocery store! I need a new place to get my vegetables after that fart Gindira took over the one on tenth!”
“But Elora we already have one? You know the one about three blocks over. It’s run by that sweet Centaur boy. He brings in produce from his family farm even!” Elora blinked a few times and barked out a laugh.
“I had completely forgotten about that poor boy. When you get to be around 230 Diana
you’ll understand why my memory is so horrible.” Elora huffed. She nibbled the shortbread and gave a small huff.
“Elora go back to the person buying the McClints building, who is it? I wanna know!” Elora looked at Diana with a shrewd look.
“Why, are you going to throw them a welcoming party? Or are you more interested in looks?” Diana blushed scarlet and looked at her teacup.
“No, no welcome party, and I’m honestly not looking too hard for anything in particular. Not after what happened last time.”
“He was a cad who only wanted your building. Pfft freaking real estate people. You’ll find someone, maybe not now but one day.”

Now two weeks later she was regretting her curiosity. The big burly mix of men, orcs, and others brought a workout machine after workout Machine into the building across the street. There had already been a casualty when one of her delivery people got knocked over by an Onikuma crushing the box of expensive first flush Darjeeling he had been carrying.
The delivery person apologized profusely to Diana having never done something like this before. Diana accepted telling him it wasn’t his fault, as the delivery van drove away from the onikuma that knocked the poor kid over yelled sorry as Diana stood in her doorway wondering if there was anything worth salvaging in the crushed box.
More and more of the workout machines went into the building and Diana noted that whoever bought the place was also installing a new air filtration system. She wondered what was the point because the McClints had replaced the filtration unit only five years ago.
She sipped a cup of lapsang souchong as the group of movers gathered around a tall orc who had just pulled up in a truck with boxes of items. As the group talked with the orc the onikuma who knocked over her delivery person yesterday motioned towards Diana’s store. The Orc nodded and started walking across the street.
Diana ducked behind the counter and started cleaning her mess she had made. As the bell chimed she turned around and gave a bright hello. And stopped. The orc was almost two feet taller than her 5 foot 2 inches and his arms were roped with muscles. Diana swallowed another mouthful of tea, her throat suddenly dry.
“Welcome in! What can I do for you?” The orc looked down at her with a small confused smile.
“I think it’s more about what I can do you Ma’am” his southern accent made Diana’s heart skip a beat. “I’m Torug & I heard from my friend that he accidentally ran over a delivery person of yours. I’m here to make amends.”
“I uhhh, what?” She had been staring at his arms that looked like they could squash her. She blinked and looked up at his face, her blush spreading rapidly across her face.
“There was an accident with one of my friends? He knocked over a delivery boy and crushed a package of yours?” Diana shook her head and realized he was talking about the Onikuma yesterday.
“Oh! Oh, yeah. That destroyed almost $1000 dollars worth of first flush Darjeeling.” The Orc looked at her with raised eyebrows. He looked at her like he was concerned for her sanity. “I mean it’s not as expensive as Da-Hong Pao Tea, I mean nothing is. But it was almost 1,800 grams of Selimbong First flush. That stuff is expensive and I already had buyers lined up for it. I’m going to need vodka after having to call some of these people and tell them their tea was crushed by an onikuma.”
“What if I pay for the tea, and maybe take you out for that vodka? I mean it is partially my fault you’re in this situation in the first place. It’s only natural that I help care for you after those horrible phone calls you’re going to have to deal with.” Diana waved her hand.
“Ehh most of the people who bought the tea are decent people and when I explain what happened they’ll understand. Except maybe Franklin, but he’s a cave troll and kind of grumpy in general.” Torug laughed, and his rough voice made butterflies in Diana’s stomach.
“Oooo, a cave troll? Now I have to at least take you out for dinner.” Diana gave a small laughed and looked up at Torug and smiled.
“You really don’t have too, especially since I will take you up on the payment for the destroyed tea. It’ll go towards hopefully more tea, to help soften the blow for those who are going to have to wait longer.” Torug was pulling out his wallet and shook his head.
“I don’t mean to seem obstinate ma’am, but I really do think I should at least pay for your dinner. It seems like it’s a bit of a hassle on your part for something that was my fault.” Diana looked at Torug and gave a slanted smile.
“If that’s the case then shouldn’t the Onikuma be the one to take me out. I mean he didn’t even give me his name!” Torug straightened up and gave Diana a worried look. Then moved closer to the counter. Diana could smell some sort of cologne. Torug set his hands on the counter.
“I mean he could, his wife makes some damn good honeyed salmon.” Diana smiled “But I’d rather be the one to take a beautiful woman out to a delicious meal.”
“Okay now I want to know, are you asking because you’re interested in me because we’re soon to be work neighbors, or because I wowed you with my wide array of tea?” Diana shifted and leaned just a little bit back to look at Torugs massive frame. His seven-foot frame made Diana feel absolutely tiny. His smile dazzled Diana.
“Maybe a little bit of both, can’t a male be interested in his soon to be work neighbor and their extensive tea collection?” Diana was beginning to think her soon to be neighbor was more interested in her rather than her tea collection. Not that she had expected him to hide it. Orcs were rather straightforward when it came to these sorts of situations.
It would do her good to get to know the person who was opening up across from her. So she made up her mind.
“Sure I’ll take you up on that. I am never one to turn down an invitation for free food. Do you know where you’d like to go? There are a few places that could be fun.” Torug’s smile became even bigger. Torug leaned over the counter, Diane got a better smell of his cologne. It almost made her swoon.
“Well if you know of a place that’d be swell. Otherwise I was just going to cook for you myself.” Diana nearly swooned on the spot. He could cook as well as run a business? God Diana was beginning to second think her stance on staying single.
“If you’re willing to cook, I’d be happy with that. We can try other places another time.” It was only after she had said it that she realized what she said. With a look of shock she looked up at Torug’s face. His smile was breathtaking, his tusks were pointing out and there was a sparkle in his eyes.
“I’ll have to hold you to that Ma’am.” Diana smiled.
“Please stop calling me ma’am it’s making me feel old.”
“I would but you never told me your name ma’am.” Diana's mouth fell open and her face flushed. “I can’t believe you’re real.”
“I-uh, what did you say? I’m Diana, by the way.” Torug hadn’t stopped smiling and he stood up straight.
“Well Miss Diana, I should be unpacked and able to cook for you by this Friday at the latest. Maybe tomorrow if I have a reason too.” Diana gave a little sigh. For someone so tuff looking he was certainly soft. Diana thought for a moment. Then looked down.
“Can’t do tomorrow, tomorrow is a ‘girls’ night with my friends.” Torug sighed but smiled. He moved back .
“Well, that gives me more time to make sure my new place is pristine.” Diana smiled, she put her teacup down.
“I’m going to look forward to it. I don’t know where you live but my apartment is right upstairs so you won’t have to go far to find me!” Torug licked bit his lower lip holding back a smile.
“Good, I’m moving into the apartment above the soon to be Iron Works Gym.” He looked so happy about saying that, it was infectious. Diana’s smile only grew wider.
“Perfect then we won’t have to go far to see each other.” After that Torug very apologetically paid for the ruined tea and left to go get more things unpacked.
Diana watched as he walked over to his friends who looked at him. Torug gave them a thumbs up and she saw the lot of them slap him on the back. Diana smiled and shook her head.she cleaned up shop and waited for the time to pass. She went to the back for her laptop so she email call the customers about the ruined tea.
The bell above her door rang out, looking up she smiled at one of her regulars. An Incubus by the named Jhorrel walked in. His outfit was unusually flashy today, the Maroon three-piece suit with gold accents looked almost out of place in the homey tea store.
“Jhorrel, what can I do for you?” He sauntered up and leaned onto the counter.
“Diana! Who are those strong people out front?” He pulled up the cup Diana had been using and gave it a sniff and winced. “Lapsang? Diana you know I hate that one. If I wanted to drink burnt tea I would have a barista make it.”
“Mhmmm, I like lapsang instead of coffee. Those strong gentlemen are the new gym that’s going in across the street. One of them already crushed a box of tea and the owner has already asked me out to dinner.”Jhorrel whipped around and stared at me, his mouth hanging open.
“Why didn’t you start with that! Which one crushed the tea and which one asked you out. Gods I hope it wasn’t that orc that looks like he could bench press me.” He licked his lips. Diana looked over his shoulder and saw he was looking straight at Torug. Who was looking at Jhorrel. Diana smiled and waved at him. Torugs face softened and he waved backed. Jhorrel’s face whipped around and he gaped at Diana who’s face turned an interesting shade of red.
“OH MY GODS!! DIANA! HE IS THE OWNER ISN’T HE?” Diana stepped back and covered her ears. She smiled a little bit.
“Well maybe if you had waited for my answer, I would have told you all about it. Now though you have to wait until tomorrow night.” Diana gave him a reusable mug of tea and a small bag of loose leaf tea.
“Diana! Please throw a sex-starved incubus a bone here!” Diana shook her head and moved from behind the counter. She grabbed his maroon suit and started moving him out of the store.
“Again, I’ll tell you everything. Tomorrow night!” she opened the door and gently pushed Jhorrel out of her store. She heard the men and women stop talking. Jhorrel took a sip of tea. He nodded.
“Fine! But you aren’t getting out of this! Tomorrow you are telling me and Marissa everything!” Diana nodded and shooed him away. He waved to the group of people across the street and slowly walked down the street.

Chapter 4
Pairing: Jungkook x reader, Taehyung x reader, eventual Ot7 x reader in later chapters

Theme: Based kinda on sword art online a lot of similar ideas and themes kinda combining the idea of them trapped in the game, but the world is closer to ALFheim online

‘You weren’t sure if you liked this Jungkook you were seeing now, but you couldn’t fully blame him for the drastic switch, people can change when they are thrown into survival mode, and this...was now life and death.’
Jungkook had quickly led you and his friend/room mate Taehyung out of the town square. Not really leaving you time to get acquainted with the new traveling companion but it was understandable.
Once you reached the edge of the town which led to an empty field Jungkook turned around to look at you. “Crash course in flying. Now that we are out here, this is going to be the quickest way to travel. I want us to get to the next town as fast as possible so we can snag up all the good items and stuff okay?”
You nodded.
He looked to Taehyung, “You’ve learned flying already right?”
Taehyung nodded, his face devoid of emotions standing stiffly and awkwardly. He’s definitely still in shock, you all are in some sort of way. Jungkook was handling his fear by jumping into the leader position, you were handling yours by trying not to think too hard on anything and just go with it...so maybe you were in a state of denial?
Jungkook showed you how to do a hand signal in the air that summoned some sort of joystick controller in your hand, and explained the logistics of flight. It was actually fairly simply, the downside was at your low level you had a very limited amount of energy you were allowed to use to fly. So every 15 minutes or so you would need to land and recharge before your wings gave out on you.
The three of you took off, not saying a word, letting Jungkook lead the way.
You wanted to be blown away by the fact that you were flying, you wanted to feel the rush of the wind and excitement of your feet leaving the ground for the first time, and trailing behind you as your wings carried you forward.
But you were numb. You thought about your home, your job, Tiger, Velvet… At that last thought you almost burst into tears. ‘I hope mom saw the news and comes to check on me, I hope she feeds them and takes care of them if I....’ you have to try to hold back your tears so you could see in front of you as you flew, ‘if I die…’ your thought finished itself.
Jungkook landed in a small clearing in the woods you had been flying over. You followed down, grateful he had remembered you were nearing the end of your allowed flight time, because you had already forgotten.
After many repeated starts and stops, you could see on the corner of your screen a clock read 3:00 am. Wow, you had been flying a long time. Occasionally when you stopped Jungkook had scanned the area to see if there was any good loot or creatures to get some experience points from, and there was some a few times. You took turns getting the final kill so you could evenly spread out the points and drop items, all of you leveling up 2 times each so far on your journey. Taehyung still remaining quiet even then.
You finally heard him speak for the first time since you’d left the town “Jungkook can we please stop and rest.” He pleaded softly towards the man leading your flight.
Jungkook nodded and descended down into the woods below. You realized you were starting to feel some aches and pains from all of the flying and fighting. That jolted something in you and you felt your stomach drop for probably the millionth time today. Previously, you couldn’t feel pain in the game, but that must’ve changed as the game maker said it would, making the horror of the new reality you were living in so much more...real.
When you all had landed your team searched around and found a cave. Jungkook entered first using his night vision to scope out potential threats in the darkness. When he had yelled out the all clear, Taehyung, then you, followed into the cave. The glow from your screens giving you just barely enough light so you could see where you were going.
“What I wouldn’t give to have picked fire fairy right now” Taehyung groaned as he slumped against the one of the cold cave walls.
Jungkook thought hard for a second and took a rock from the floor and held it in his hand. He went into his menu and did something you couldn’t quite see.
Suddenly the rock in his hand was transformed into a glowing torch. He smiled slightly, as excited as one could be while facing the current horrors you all were. “Illusion magic…” He explained “I just bought a transformation spell that should come in handy for things like this, it’s a novice one so it probably won't last long but if I stick it in the ground we can gather around it for a while and get some of the heat and light.”
You smiled, grateful for his brilliant knowledge of this game. He really had done his research before coming here.
Taehyung, Jungkook and yourself gathered around the torch trying to soak up as much heat as you could. The silence in this small circle was deafening. The three of you mulling over the events of the day in your mind. “I…” you break the silence, “I think maybe we should get to know each other a little better, It might make getting through this easier on me...mentally that is”
If only your mom could see you now, initiating a conversation with two people you’d only just met today, being the one to actually ask for information on their personal lives. You don’t even know this person you are right now. Thinking about how Jungkook changed when this all started, you realize its changing you as well.
“Yeah, I guess that makes sense, we are going to be spending a lot of time together from here on out, who knows how long until they arrest this guy holding the strings, or if they even will at all.” He trailed off then made eye contact with you, his dark eyes glowing, with the flame of the torch reflecting on them warmly. “As you heard Taehyung say a few times my name is Jungkook, it's only fair now I know your real name right?”
A small smile formed on your lips, maybe the first genuine one you’d had tonight since the news. “Y/N”
“Y/N huh?” Jungkook smiles back, “It suits you” you felt warmth in your chest at his words, and shyly changed the subject.
“So...I’ll ask the next question, what do you guys do for a living...back in the real world?”
Taehyung actually is the one to speak first, “I’m pretty boring, I’m an accountant and have been for a couple years now, the pay isn’t bad, so I can afford to invest in my hobbies and stuff, I like art and photography”
You were happy to hear some info on the mysterious man that had joined you earlier in the evening. His face started out expressionless but you could see his eyes light up as he mentioned his hobbies, it reminded you slightly of how excited Jungkook had been that afternoon when explaining the details of the game to you.
“I work from home doing independent graphic design for businesses, boring stuff too I suppose, but I enjoy it” you wink at Taehyung “like business cards and things like that, so if you ever need one you know who to come to” You grinned pointing a thumb to your chest.
“Wait til you hear what he does for a living” Taehyung’s face got colder again and actually seemed to have a slight hint of resentment in his tone.
“No. Shut it.” Jungkook snapped “I’m good on that one.” he looked away from you and over to the entrance of the cave, avoiding your confused expression
Taehyung’s eyes widened “Wait… you really aren’t going to tell her? Don’t you think she should know? It’s kinda relevant to…” He was then quickly cut off
“I said shut it. Leave it alone Tae” He glared dagger eyes at the green haired man across the fire from him.
His sharp words to Taehyung shocked and baffled you. You hadn’t expected this to be such a touchy subject when you brought it up. “Sorry..” You mumbled “I didn’t mean to pry too much”
Jungkook looked your way guiltily, wincing at your hurt expression. “No, no, I’m sorry, I’d just rather it not be talked about right now okay?”
You nodded still feeling like the whole thing was suspicious.
“Sure” you looked to Taehyung now wanting to change the subject quickly “I believe it’s your turn to ask something”
“Oh alright” then he thought for a while.
You watched him as he thought and wondered what type of man he was. From your first impressions so far he seemed odd yet intriguing, similar to Jungkook in some ways but also very different, kind of quirky and quiet.
You had a feeling he’d be the type to try and cheer a friend up on a bad day by doing a goofy dance, but then also letting them cry and pour their heart out as long as they needed. He seemed soft and warm, and all of that was your impression of him after this whole horror was discovered.
Jungkook on the other hand, most of your first impressions of him were erased by the tragedy that befell you all. If you had just met him now, you wouldn’t think of him as friendly or warm. Charming still...but not in the same way, it was in a way that slightly frightened you. Though you knew he was doing what was necessary for the survival of you all, you kept missing smiling ‘Kookie’ from the field.
“Actually, I changed my mind, we really just need to sleep so we can get moving again as fast as possible” Jungkook shot out before Taehyung had a chance to decide on his question.
You pouted slightly, as did Taehyung. Jungkook settled himself down into a sleeping position on the ground and fell asleep almost immediately. He must’ve been exhausted from taking the lead on today’s plans and travels, you also remembered hearing him say he had gotten up at 12am for the premiere of the game. ‘Damn’ you thought ‘He’s been up over 24 hours…’
He was probably right about the three of you all needing your sleep, but you were a little bummed at the same time. You really wanted to know more about your traveling partners. You started to settle yourself down trying to find a comfortable spot to lay on the cave floor, when a soft “pst” came from Taehyung’s direction. You turned your head to look at him in a puzzled manner. He motioned with one hand for you to come close to him, and you did. Propping your back against the wall to sit side by side with him.
“I don’t like how Jungkook is acting” He started in a whisper “He’s my best friend... I’ve never seen him like this before. I understand the seriousness of what’s going on here, trust me. But...to not care about everyone else that could die in here, it’s not like him and just seems wrong.” He looked somberly at a small pebble in his hand he was absentmindedly toying with as he talked.
“I...uh don’t really know what to say” you shrugged “I only just met him today, He seems like a good guy, he’s been kind to me. But yeah I guess I can kinda agree, it doesn’t sit totally right with me to just leave everyone else behind struggling when we know what the strategy to stay alive is…”
Taehyung scoffed “yeah and it’s not even just that… it’s that he knows…” he stopped himself and threw the pebble roughly at the wall opposite you both. “Never mind. I don’t know why I’m telling you this, I’m sorry, I was just venting”
You nod and without thinking rested your head on his shoulder, heavy with the sleep falling on you. You could feel his body stiffen slightly in a state of surprise at your touch, but he soon relaxed and set his own head on top of yours.
“Might as well be a shoulder for each other to lean on throughout this huh? We are probably gonna need it” He sighed quietly.
You didn’t see him looking down at you. You didn’t notice how he admired your beauty and had to hold himself back from full on pressing his whole body against yours in a tight embrace. Wanting to feel you, and have you feel him, to ease both of your stresses from today. You definitely couldn’t tell that from his angle there was a perfect view for him to look down the front of your dress and see some of your exposed chest.
It took everything in him to pull his eyes away, he tried to just focus on the fire in front of them. He attempted to adjust himself in a non suspicious way and he made a mental note that this game was VERY realistic in how ALL of his body parts were working.
You were at this point falling fast asleep, head still on Taehyung’s shoulder, mind finally winding down for the first time today. Your last thoughts before your eyes shut for the night were of home. You weren’t sure if you’d ever see it again, you weren’t sure if you’d make it out of this alive. But you were sure that if you had to be stuck here, you were happy that you had Jungkook and Taehyung with you.

Lupus: The Lost Celestial Spirit
This one-shot was a written collab between me and @mirage-05 and is part of a future long fanfic centering the Sabertooth guild.
Rin is @mirage-05‘s OC and is currently the same age as Wendy Marvell, thus making her Sabertooth’s youngest mage!

"Absolutely not." Sting's voice echoed in his office as he held a piece of paper in his hand, a job request to be more specific. "You are not going on this job alone, Yukino."
The white haired mage sighed, when she came to his office to show what new job she was going to take, Yukino hadn't really come for an approval, she couldn't even understand why the Master was denying it in the first place! The request clearly stated the of help of a Celestial Spirit Mage was needed given that the cause of the request in the first place was a Celestial Spirit gone wild.
"Sting-sama, I'm afraid I can't deny this job. A Celestial Mage is needed and I am one as you know."
"To take care of a Celestial Spirit gone wild, the job isn't just for one person!"
Yukino arched an eyebrow. "I appreciate your concern but I can take care of myself..."
"Take Rogue with you. Or at least Orga or Rufus!"
"Sting-sama... they've all gone on jobs..."
"Well then wait until someone comes back."
Sighing was all Yukino could do to not throw her hands up in exasperation - which was saying something because she wasn't the type to have an outburst -. But Sting-sama's attitude - and the implication that she couldn't handle a job herself, no matter how dangerous it is - was really starting to get to her. "So are you suggesting we leave that town to its own until I can find someone to go with me? Allow me to say this is not you Master."
Sting was about to say something more, but the Celestial Mage could see the warring emotions on his face clear as crystal. Of course this didn't fit in with the blond's sense of righteousness.
Just then there was a knock on the door. Seeming to be relieved to have a break, Sting spoke without looking up. "Come in."
"Sting-n... I mean Master, I was wondering..." Rin cut her rambling short when she saw Yukino already in the room, and the wondrous look that she seemed to always have around her settled on her features as well as a bright smile. "Oh, hi, Yuki-nee."
Yukino just simply waved her hand at the young girl, giving her a soft smile before turning to face her Master again with a serious face, hands on her hips.
"Well Master? I believe I can't wait much longer while that poor village is haunted by that spirit."
Sting rubbed his gloved hands on his face in frustration, maybe he was passing off the wrong idea, he knew Yukino could do jobs on her own but the idea of her facing a wild spirit - he had never heard of such a thing before - just made him think of all the possible and worst outcomes.
"Can you at least take Rin with you then?"
The Celestial Mage blinked, taken aback. "Rin?" Or had she misheard? Sting-sama didn't want to send her on what supposedly was a dangerous mission, but he was okay with sending their youngest mage with her?
"I'm going on a mission with you?! Awesome!" The young girl chimed in excitedly, apparently oblivious to the slight tension between them.
Hearing the enthusiasm in her voice, Yukino couldn't help but smile. Well... it was the Master's problem if he wanted to keep worrying about it. She wasn't going to treat another guild member the way she didn't like to be treated. "Gladly." she said firmly, an unwavering look in her eyes as she locked eyes with the Dragon Slayer. Then she turned back to face the girl. "Let's go then, shall we?"
"Yukino" Sting's voice stopped them just before they reached the door. "Be careful."
There was a warning in the brown eyes now as Yukino looked over her shoulder to him. "With all due respect, Master, we are Sabertooth Mages, not babies. We will handle this."
"We will be fine, so don't worry, 'kay?" Rin said with a big grin.
The way Yukino looked at him nearly made him sweat, and that was saying something, Sting wasn't a person that easily felt scared or worried. He couldn't help but let out a sigh before he sat back again on his chair, returning to the immense paperwork he had to deal with but still his mind kept wandering to the two girls he had just allowed to go on a dangerous mission.
...
Yukino watched as Rin happily jumped around as they made their way towards the train station, although she didn't mind much taking the girl with her on this mission and yet she was still a bit saddened with Sting-sama’s earlier attitude, did he really think she couldn't take care of this situation on her own? Did he think she was that weak that she always needed someone to accompany her on a mission, even more a mission that requested the usage of her own kind of magic?
If that was how he felt then why would he even invite her back to the guild in the first place?
"Our train leaves in twenty minutes." her companion announced, giving her the ticket she had just bought. Yukino couldn't help but notice how truly happy she looked... and she couldn't help her mood lifting up slightly at the sight of it.
"You seem to be in good spirits today, Rin-chan."
"Well, I get to see you in action, don't I?" the girl said, rubbing her hands together. "I just can't wait to reach the town."
"U-umm... yeah..." the Celestial Mage said, now feeling a little awkward. Rin seemed to be pretty much the only one in the guild who truly believed in her powers... though Yukino didn't know why. This was their very first mission together and the girl hadn’t seen her in action yet.
"Don't mind what Sting-nii said. I know we'll ace this mission."
She wasn't really sure about that anymore... when she first saw the mission requesting specifically for Celestial Spirit Magic to solve the situation, Yukino had actually got enthusiastic about it but now that mood was completely gone.
But so not to break the girl's good spirits, Yukino just nodded and gave her a small smile.
The trip on the train wasn't that long, just about thirty minutes and during the whole trip Yukino had sat down listening to Rin talking about how excited she was with this job and especially how she couldn't wait to see the Celestial Mage kicking the Spirit's butt and recapturing it.
While listening to the girl, Yukino had started thinking herself how they would deal with the Spirit, it would probably be easier if they found the Spirit's key but first of all she would need to find out the reason why the Spirit had gone wild in the first place.
"Rin-chan, can you tell me more about your powers?" It wasn't just for the mission's sake that she wanted to know about it, she was genuinely curious as she hadn't seen their youngest mage's abilities yet.
"I use Light Magic. Its actual name is Aurora Borealis though." The girl cocked her head to a side as she thought of how best to explain what her magic could do. "Mainly it gives me maximum speed, and I can create some illusions with it. The illusions are short-timed though... effective for about fifteen minutes." Her shoulders slumped then and she averted her eyes. "I'm sorry... I really don't know any offensive spells."
Yukino, on her end, was intrigued by what she told. "No, I think it's an interesting magic. And there are a lot of supportive magic users who do great things." She felt the need to reassure the girl... if anything, in her eyes, no one should feel insecure about their magic.
"Oh I know." Rin's smile was back on. "My friend Wendy is one of them."
Yukino smiled at the mention of the young Fairy Tail girl, it hadn't been that long since they parted ways with the guild but she kind of missed talking to her fellow Celestial Spirit Mage, Lucy. Maybe she would know how to solve this job easily but right now she wouldn't have the time to go to Fairy Tail and then return to the endangered village.
They would have to figure it out by themselves.
...
The two girls soon reached the village and the further they went into the path that led to said place, the more evident the destruction became. Trees completely scratched, some destroyed, even rocks. Just what kind of Spirit was this?
"Hello?" Yukino's voice echoed at the entrance of the village. "Is anyone here? We are mages from Sabertooth, we've come to deal with the Spirit." she announced. The village's appearance was actually giving her chills.
Rin looked through the destroyed trees, longer than Yukino would think necessary, as if she was searching for something. But just when the white haired mage was about to say something, the girl turned to her. "Its trail goes all the way to the caves up in those mountains." she said confidently as she pointed to said caves. "I don't know why it laid off from the village but..."
"Wait, hold on for a second," Yukino said, blinking in confusion. "You... can you track the Spirit?" How was that even possible, with Rin not being a Celestial Mage...
"Oh. Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot to tell! This is another thing I can do with my magic... Using the light particles people or creatures leave behind... I can track them. And since this is a Celestial Spirit... it left a lot of those behind."
"Wow..." was all Yukino could say. Now she was impressed.
"I'm sorry..." Rin said again, her head hanging low. "It's just that... it was something my father taught me..."
"Why are you apologising Rin-chan?" Yukino asked as she bent down slowly to reach the girl's height before patting her head softly. "That's an amazing magic that you have there."
Rin couldn't help the light blush that made its way to her cheeks, then she looked up at the woman in front of her and gave her a big smile. "T-Thank you Yuki-nee." she might not say it out loud just yet but... Yukino was her hero so receiving a compliment from her meant a lot to Rin, more than what anyone could ever imagine.
"Now let's go find some villagers."
"Yes!" the girl said eagerly, and without waiting for an answer, led the way to the village. She wasn't going to fail Yukino in this mission, no matter what.
...
In the meantime, Sting just wasn't able to sit still in his office.
He still had a big pile of paperwork waiting in the office - honestly, what wouldn't he give to burn all that paperwork now - but he couldn't concentrate on them at all. He had constantly found himself pacing in the main hall, or outside for a walk... and now he was at the guild bar, supposedly deciding for a drink - although the barmaid had asked him twice already what he wanted -.
Just then... the one person he had been waiting for walked into the guild, and the blond couldn't help but pull a big grin. "Rogue! Just the person I was looking for!"
"No." That was Rogue's flat out answer while keeping his dull look; Frosch cuddled in his arms was happily waving at Lector.
Sting, at his companion's answer, raised an eyebrow. "What? I didn't even ask anything yet!"
"The answer is still no." The Shadow Dragon Slayer bent down and allowed Frosch to go to her fellow Exceed, then returned to face the White Dragon Slayer who was now pouting.
"You don't even know what I'm going to ask!"
"Something stupid I'm sure." He looked into his pocket and took out a paper, handing it to Sting. "The job was completed with success, although they could have used both Dragon Slayers to make things faster Master." why was everyone putting such an ironic tone today when addressing him with his Master title?
"See, that's my problem!" Sting said immediately, catching up on his friend's hint. "I need to go on this job but-"
"Need to?" Rogue raised an eyebrow. "Didn't you have some... important business to do, which was why you didn't come with me on this job?"
Good point. The Light Dragon Slayer tried to keep his face neutral. When Rogue asked him earlier, he just didn't feel like going on that job and he had been evasive. Instead, he had goofed off the whole day and only remembered the documents he had to sign later...
"B-but this is urgency!" he blurted out finally.
"Uh-huh." His friend didn't look the least bit impressed. "How is all the paperwork going?"
"They are being done." Now his grin turned sheepish. "...some help would be great though."
"Remind me again, why are you the Master and why is it me who ends up doing the paperwork instead of you?"
"That's... not entirely true, I also do paperwork!" and yet again Rogue raised his eyebrow which made the Light Dragon Slayer grumble. "Okay fine you do most of it."
He heard Rogue sigh audibly and could've sworn that a 'God give me patience' came out from his mouth as a mumble but just this time he decided to ignore it, after all he really reeeeally needed Rogue's help.
"What did you do this time?"
"Nothing! It's just uh..." he scratched his cheek while sweating. "Yukino and Rin went together on a job to hunt down a wild Celestial Spirit."
Rogue crossed his arms while he waited for him to say something more... which was obviously not gonna happen. "So? I fail to see the problem here."
"C'mooon Rogue," as usual when words were not enough to express how he felt, Sting threw up his hands. "I'm talking about a dangerous wild spirit here! Think about the many problems it could cause-"
"Which I know Yukino can handle on her own." the black haired man said, decidedly not commenting on the Celestial Mage's companion. "You should learn to trust your fellow mages to handle a job."
"What do you want me to do, beg or something?"
"It would certainly be fun to watch." Rogue said with a crooked smile. "But instead of doing that, why don't you go complete the paperwork so maybe you can catch up to them, idiot?"
Sting gave him a pout. "Well...can you help me?"
"Oh, I don't know, I have important business to take care of my own." He was so enjoying this that the glare he earned from his fellow Dragon Slayer didn't make him flinch, not even a little.
"Rogue..."
The Shadow Dragon Slayer rolled his eyes. "You're so helpless god. Fine I'll help...again."
"You are the b-"
"Don't even say those words if you are not meaning them." Rogue didn't know whether to get pissed or actually feel relieved that Sting didn't attempt to continue the phrase after his warning, so he just sighed again. "By the way, I hope for your sake that you didn't make Yukino feel like she couldn't handle the job on her own."
"Wha- nah, I'm sure she wouldn't take my words like that." Sting said confidently, which made Rogue wonder - for the millionth time - how his friend could be so oblivious sometimes.
"Well then, get going why don't you?"
...
It hadn't been easy to find villagers. The people had been hiding in their homes, too afraid to come out even with the Spirit nowhere in sight and their calling voices. Finally one had been daring enough to welcome them... and it didn't take the two girls long to realize that this villager was a key part of the puzzle.
"I see..." Yukino couldn't help the sad tone in her voice. "Its previous owner was killed in a battle... in this town..."
"It wasn't our fault though...!" The villager was quick to say it. "The owner of that spirit was doing what you are right now... they were completing a job which consisted in capturing a mage bandit... but things happened and I guess that Celestial Spirit blames us for the death of its owner."
"We are really desperate miss!" Another villager said. "Please, you've got to help us...!"
Yukino nodded without hesitation. "This is why we came for. Don't worry, we will deal with this Spirit, but first there are a few things that we need to know. Do you know where the key of this Spirit is at the moment?"
The villager they were first talking to shook his head "No, not at all. I can only assume it's probably lost somewhere in the place its owner died, if the river didn't take it away that is but nobody ever dared go find it."
A third villager approached the first one, placing his hand on the man's shoulder. "Oijiro-san... we must retire to our houses soon... the sun is setting..."
The man's eyes widened in surprise and they moved to look at the mountains where the setting sun could be seen. "Mages you must hurry, the creature comes out at night."
After reassuring the men that they would solve the issue as soon as possible, Yukino and Rin walked out of the house. The Celestial Mage looked thoughtful and... sad as many thoughts rambled around her head. The Spirit had lost its owner not too long ago... and apparently it had a great bond with them. As much as she wanted to wrap this up quickly for the sake of this town, it also pained her heart that she would basically have to force her will on the spirit too soon...
She turned to her companion when they reached the town center. "We need a plan."
"Umm..." The girl bit her lip. "I think I have an idea..."
"Oh? Do tell." The white haired mage was rather interested.
"Well you need to find the key right? I can distract the Spirit and get it out of town while you do that."
"Hmm..." It wasn't a bad idea actually, but Yukino didn't want the girl to be in trouble. Yet earlier the girl mentioned that her magic allowed her to move really fast, maybe it was worth the risk... "Alright but if anything wrong happens just use your magic to send me a sign and I will come."
Rin smiled big and nodded as the two wandered inside the forest. Yukino took out the Pisces key and summoned the Spirit.
"Pisces, please help me track down the key. The villagers said it would probably be by the river."
"Wow," Rin said, her eyes huge and admiring as she watched the Fish Spirits dive into the river. She knew she didn't have much time for that, though, since the sun's last rays were filtering down on them. "Well, see you later then, Yuki-nee. Let's do our best."
"Yeah." Yukino smiled at her. "Good luck."
And with that Rin was off, following the trail she had seen before to the caves. It wasn't a long trip at all, soon she was standing in front of the opening and... she could already hear a low growl, low but...definitely sounding like a big animal.
"Okay..." she muttered to herself, taking a deep breath before squaring her shoulders, building her courage. "I don't know which Spirit you are... well... I don't know many Spirits really..." she admitted sheepishly. "But... I came in peace, okay?"
Another growl, louder this time. It literally felt like a warning for her to go and not come back but Rin wasn't doing that, she was going to stick to the plan until the last minute and only if needed would she use the distress signal. But she wouldn't need it, she wasn't going to let Yukino down.
"Alright then..." She took another step towards the cave and this time she didn't get a growl as a warning, instead she immediately saw the creature jumping out of it, showing itself into the last rays of sun. To Rin it was a surprise when the creature revealed itself to be nothing more than a wolf, albeit much bigger than a regular one, it had black fur and brilliant amber eyes and many many scars on its body.
"So this is your true form..." Rin murmured but then prepared herself to start running in order to lead the creature away from the village. "Let's do this!"
The wolf raised its paw to strike at her, but the girl used her speed to appear next to a set of trees a little further away. "Over here!" she called out to the Spirit, waving her hand. "Catch me if you can!"
The wolf let out a long howl before jumping from its position, and Rin started to run, in a pace that would allow the Spirit to follow her easily and not get bored and turn its attention back to the weaker target. Hearing the set of heavy paws on the ground right behind her, she allowed herself one little smile before setting on the road that wound away from the village.
...
Hearing the howl into the night, Yukino's head snapped up and turned to the direction of the sound. "A wolf...?" she muttered to herself, and felt sweat dropping the side of her cheek. Then she turned back to the water, her eyes searching for her trusted Spirit. "Pisces, any luck?"
The two spirits emerged from the water and communicated with their Master, revealing that there was no luck with finding the key yet. Yukino started getting more worried, hoping Rin was doing well. "Thank you, go back and get some rest." The spirits shone a bright yellow light and then were gone; the Celestial Mage took out her second golden key. "Libra!"
The tan skinned woman appeared before her. "Yes, Master?"
"Please use your magic to lift the water from the river, we must find a Celestial Spirit key quickly."
The spirit nodded and in a swift move of her scales, the water of the river was soon lifted above their heads, Yukino jumped into the now empty path and started running through it, scanning every single corner.
She didn't know how long it took... but finally, her eyes caught a faint glimmer near the bank to her right. Honestly, she could've easily missed it because it was hidden so well beneath some rocks, and the night's colors were almost blending it.
The white haired mage immediately got on her knees and began lifting the rocks quickly - and thankfully they weren't heavy so she didn’t need to ask Libra to change its gravity too -. In her haste, she scraped her hands on the rocks, but she didn't stop... until she found the silver key that had a black wolf symbol on it.
"The wolf... Lupus..." she murmured to herself, closing her eyes for a moment in relief and a feeling that was akin to melancholy. When she reopened them, her hand closed in a fist around the key. "Don't worry... I'm going to give you the peace you deserve..." It wasn't a matter of acquiring a new key, none of that. In her heart, she really felt for this loyal Spirit who couldn't get over its Master's death.
Thanking Libra and sending her back to the Spirit World, the young woman began running through the same path that she had seen Rin leave, hoping that the girl hadn't gone too deep into the forest while luring away the beast. She hoped she could at least be able to see their footprints on the ground but Yukino wasn't much of a good tracker, not like the Dragon Slayers back in her guild, but she did learn a few techniques with them just in case situations like this where they weren't around happened.
"Rin!" she called but there was no answer as she reached the cave that she assumed to be the one where the villagers said the beast was hiding. "Rin-chan!"
There was no answer from the girl but not too far, Yukino could hear the wolf's howl and maybe it was her imagination but the girl could've sworn she saw a faint bright light mixed within the vegetation; therefore she didn't hesitate to run into that direction while gripping the key tightly in her hand.
...
"Heh... not bad," Rin said as she once again disappeared from where the wolf's paw struck, using a bit of her light to keep the spirit in track in the increasingly darkening forest. "You can do much better though, y'know."
The wolf released another howl, clearly agitated, and made a move to jump on the girl but a clear voice rang out before either of them could do anything more.
"Lupus!" The wolf came to a sudden stop, its eyes straightening and what Rin could only classify as a confused look coming over its big, amber irises. "You don't have to do this anymore…! I can help you!"
As the Spirit turned its attention away from her, the young Sabertooth mage couldn't help but smile brightly. "Yuki-nee!"
The woman though didn't give her attention to the little girl this time, her brown eyes never left those of the wolf, determination filled the young mage's stare. "Please Lupus, I know who you are, I know what happened to you." She slowly rose the key and made sure it was in the vision angle of the creature and immediately it growled, its fur rising up in defense. "What happened to your Master was a tragedy that no Spirit should ever have to go through, let alone be stuck in the human world." Sympathy made its way to the girl's eyes. "I can't have any idea of how painful it is to stay so long in this world, especially without your Master and I promise that I want to help you, I want to relieve you of your pain if you let me."
There was a moment of quietness...
And then the wolf ran towards the Celestial Mage.
"Yuki-nee!"
...
Sting had finally managed to finish all the goddamn paperwork on his desk, thanks to Rogue, and was already on his way to find the two mages of his guild and while he regretted not having gone by foot, as now he was holding everything in him to not puke all over the train, going by transportation would have him get there way faster.
He couldn't stop to rest for a minute when he got out of the train either though, he was only glad that the fresh breeze of air calmed the sick feeling a little. Taking a quick look at the mission paper in his hand for the address, he opened his senses, tracking the way to the town the fastest way.
He didn't have to make it into the village though, because as soon as he caught up Yukino's scent, he also heard a panicked yell. "Yuki-nee!"
"Damn it!" The blond Dragon Slayer cursed through his teeth and sped over to where he knew he would find the two.
What he saw when he arrived to the scene made his blood run cold. A huge monster bent over a shape on the ground... Yukino's cloak?!
"OI!!" Sting shouted, immediately readying an attack and sending it to the creature. It didn't seem to do much except anger it. The Spirit turned around to face him, and a ferocious growl ripped through its teeth.
"Lupus no!" Sting suddenly heard Yukino's voice as the girl sat up... looking just fine, well her hair was a bit disheveled and Sting could sense the creature's scent all over her - along with saliva -... "It's alright, he isn't an enemy." She moved to her knees to embrace the dark furred animal, patting it a few times which only made Sting even more dumbfounded.
"Um... what's going on?"
Rin tilted her head happily. "That's our Spirit, Sting-nii! That's Lupus from the Wolf Constellation."
"Why was it all over you?!" Sting's concern was audible in his voice as he took a few steps and extended his hand to help Yukino up.
When Yukino looked up at him, though... Sting felt a shiver go down his spine as it was the exact same expression Yukino had right before they left the guild. Ignoring his offer the girl got up on her feet and pretty much looked him down... making the Dragon Slayer feel small even though he was taller than her.
"Let me ask you a better question. Why are you here, Sting-sama?"
The blond felt sweat pouring down his back under the Celestial Mage's intimidating look. "I, umm... err..."
"You thought we couldn’t handle this, didn’t you?!" There it was, a clear hurt tone in Yukino's voice... which suddenly made Sting feel horrible.
"I-I'm sorry, it's just..." Words failed him... he had to admit; he had messed this up... big time.
He attempted to look at Rin for help but that was a really really bad choice as the young mage was looking at him as bad as Yukino was so he didn't even open his mouth.
The Wolf Spirit on the other hand, just growled again at the Dragon Slayer and Sting just growled back at it which just earned an eye roll from both girls.
"I didn't think that you two couldn't handle it!" The man finally admitted. "Especially you, Yukino..." He then looked down and rubbed the back of his head. "I'm sorry that I made you feel like you were weak or something... I was just worried about you, I had never heard about a Celestial Spirit gone wild."
The girl's brown eyes softened a little at the Dragon Slayer's honest apology but.... she wasn't that soft. "Sting-sama..." she still used a disapproving tone.
"I will do anything to make you see how sorry I am!"
Now Yukino just moved one of her eyebrows up. "Anything?" And at the Light Dragon Slayer's nod, her usual soft looks turned into something Sting had never seen before in her, or even thought he would ever see in his life, and honestly it made him sweat: an evil glint and smile.
Yukino rose the silver key in her hands. "Lupus... I know we haven't formally made the contract yet but can you do me a favor?" The wolf growled as an answer. "I believe our Master needs to do some exercise."
Sting took a step back, and Lupus copied him, coming closer. "Y-Yukino... seriously...?"
"Remember Sting-sama... anything. I'd say you better start running now."
The blond really didn't need to be told twice as he turned back and bolted out of there, the wolf Spirit hot in chase. The Celestial Mage then turned to her companion, her smile turning to a sweet one. "Let's go back home."
...
"Oh?" Rogue looked up when he saw Yukino and Rin entering the guild. "You're already back huh? I thought Sting was with you too."
"He was." Yukino said serenely. "I believe they will arrive shortly, with the... hurry he is in."
The Shadow Dragon Slayer just looked confused, but indeed, in less than half an hour later, the White Dragon Slayer barreled into the guild, looking very out of breath. He leaned a hand on the wall, wheezing.
"What the hell happened to you?!" Rogue asked, baffled.
"I... I've been... chased by... her wolf spirit..." Sting managed between the wheezes, indicating his head to the Celestial Mage, who had just used the key to send the said wolf back to the Spirit World.
"Well, look at it on the bright side," Rin said, her smirk unrelenting. "At least you didn't get to use transportation."
"Why... you little..." Sting's voice lacked to show his irritation, mainly because he was still trying to catch his breath.
"Well Master, I'd say this was a lesson well-learned." Yukino told him while she put her new key on her belt. They had attracted quite a few guild members as onlookers now... and it could be easily said that they were seeing Yukino under a new light.
"Sheesh... remind me to never get on Yukino's bad side, will you?"

"Hear me out though!” I chuckled as Johnny pulled a pained, slightly amused face. “Listen, I don’t care if you already bought two sky diving tickets! I’ll say it cleary, I am afraid of heights, there is no way I’m doing that.”
I chuckled at this ironically tall buffoon and tread after him and his long legs, “But oppppppppaaaa, remember, you loooove me.”
My older brother made a sound, “Die with your love.”
I pulled my head back and chuckled, “Wow, okay, violent, uhmmmmm.”
Johnny laughed and slowed his paces down. He turned to me and huffed, I nudged him on his shoulder. “Oh, come on, you know you want to.”
“We’ll see how much I want to after you buy my lunch,” Johnny spoke.
“Ooooh, bribery,” I grinned and fiddled with my fingers, “I’m down. What did you want?”
“Oh, no, no, no, the key is finding something that I want, then, then we talk.”
I laughed at the challenge proposed by my brother. “Okay, deal.” I outstretched my arm and we shook hands.
The two of us then strut down the large lobby of this hundred floor building our father owned, ready to head on out for some grub.
At this point in time, Johnny was about to become the CEO... but we all know he doesn’t because of his car crash...
“Mr. Seo,” a voice called from a far corner. Then there emerged a man in a suit similar to my brother. He had a milky white complexion and bright eyes. When he flashed a smile, my heart skipped and my lips mimicked.
Johnny slowed down not one bit and it made it clear to me that this man was simply an underdog looking to buy some of his time. And so I caught my brother’s arm and raised my brows. He turned to me and did the same. I then shrugged and pursed my lips.
Lucky for the man though, he caught up with us before we could exit.
He airily called for my brother again, and this point, Johnny finally noticed him, or rather, finally stopped ignoring him.
“Name?” Johnny blurted, turning to the dimpled man who smiled brightly in relief.
“Jung Jaehyun,” he nodded, “we spoke on the phone, about the expansion.”
For a moment, Johnny looked clueless, up until a light bulb flashed over his head. He begins to chuckle, “Ahhhh, I remember.” Johnny chuckles, “You have such a shocking proposal, Mr. Jung.”
Mr. Jung faintly smiles, “May I offer you to talk about this matter over some lunch?”
“Ah, it’s not me you should entice,” Johnny turned to me, “but who I already have plans with.”
My brows quirked up at Johnny’s words and the man turns to me. I purse my lips and hold out a hand for him to shake, introducing myself.
“Ah, Mrs. Seo--”
“Ani. Ms., Ms. Seo, his sister.” I corrected. Johnny looked at me, a grin forming on his lips. He knew full well my selfishness with his work and how I would readily reject this man. I cleared my throat, “What you want to talk about must be important, but... I have not met with my brother in months, so please understand.”
Mr. Jung’s jaw slacks, “Ah... ye. I’m sorry. Surely family comes first before work matters. I mean, we work for our family, right?”
My lips curve into a smile at his words and Johnny pats his shoulder, mumbling something about calling him later. As my brother and I make our way to his car, I turn to Johnny fondly, “He’s nice. I like him. Make sure to really call him, oppa.”
Johnny whipped his head to look in my direction, as if I just stole a year of his life, “Ya! What do you mean you like him?”
I rolled my eyes and got into his car. He followed. “I just like the fact he has filial piety.”
Johnny scoffs, “You think he’s cute?”
I chuckle, “Yes, but I think you’re cute too.” I tease, moving to pinch his cheeks. He scolds me in annoyance and starts his car after securing his seat belt. I fasten mine as well.
“Stay away from him,” he says lowly, “I won’t approve.”
I chuckle, “Ye, ye.”

"That's how you met your husband?" Ten scoffed at the story I spoke. His wife however had the exact different reaction.
"No, no, no, don't tell me. After that you end up meeting at some some coffee shop near your brother's building and end up having lunch together." Ten says with a sour expression as he feeds his daughter some more baby food.
His wife clicks his tongue at him and Ten shrugs.
A small hand tugs on my shirt, "Can I mwake moor chowate sanwishes?" my son asks, chocolate spread marking his chin and cheeks. I chuckle at him and nod, picking up a tissue and wiping his face.
"What about Jungwoo? How’d ya meet him?" the woman asked, placing a watermelon in her mouth.
"I already told you how I met him, babe." I spoke, making Ten snap at me because of the pet name. I laughed at his cutely jealous reaction.
"Oh, ye, ye." the woman nodded. She clapped her hands. "How did you end up together then? With Jaehyun, I mean."
I breathed in deeply, turning to the blue sky above me.
Honestly, I am so thankful that I the world allowed me to have these two as my landlord. If they hadn't been here with me all this time, I would've probably caved and gone crazy.
I turned to my baby boy, happily sitting on a picnic mat, victoriously munching on the slices of bread he assembled, looking out to the fields of green grass before him. He doesn't deserve that kind of pain, having a mad mother.
"It was at an auction. Jaehyun bought the painting I wanted at an unimaginably high price." I spoke.
Ten clicked his tongue. "What a waste of money."
His wife gave him another look.
"Honestly, I agree," I offered, "he tried to be romantic by buying it then giving it to me, obviously in exchange for a date. But all I thought of him was haughty at that point. I only agreed because, well, I was getting such a beautiful painting at such a cheap price."
"Pah, it still worked though," Ten pointed, "you ended up marrying him anyway."
"Yes, but obviously, it wasn't the painting!" the woman yet again scolded his husband.
I chuckled, "It's not."

"You're as impressive as you are beautiful," the man spoke smoothly, dimples showing. I broke into a bubbly laugh, "Wahhh, that's not very much. But I'm sure it worked on all the ladies."
We continued walking on the damp sidewalk; the rain that has passed made it glisten, similar to the stars out at this moment. I slightly jump as a few raindrops fall on my head as we pass a tree. The man beside me laughs.
"Wow,” I turn to the man who chuckled at me, “how gentlemanly of you, Jung Jaehyun."
"No," he speaks firmly, grabbing my wrist. I look at him, heart fluttering, not caring as to why his reply was such, and confusing. Jaehyun smiles widely, "you are beautiful, Ms. Seo."
My breath gets caught in my throat.
"Are you afraid of calling me by my name?" I speak lowly.
It'd been nearly a month since the day he bribed me out on a date, and I was drastically slipping on this slippery slope to his heart. Yet, he has never called me anything but miss Seo. It slightly worries me.
"I am not afraid of anything," he says and I want to scoff but he continues, "except maybe losing what we have made in this month..." Jaehyun trails off. My hear pounds when he ends his words by speaking my name.
"Mr. Jung," a foreign voice calls for far behind me. I turn around and see that there was an old man that came out from Jaehyun's building, the one we were currently in front of.
I move to pull my hand away from Jaehyun's, but he tightens his grip which lands on my palms. I turn from his fingers to his eyes, his expression was no longer the same. He gently pulls me behind him.
"It's late Mr. Moon, you should be at home," Jaehyun speaks clearly.
The said man clears his throat and moves closer to us, "The vice president said you went home."
"Taeyong wasn't lying," he said, voice mixed with annoyance and slight anger, "I am on my way."
I wasn't the only one who noticed this. Mr. Moon lets out a sigh, "Mr. Jung, please rethink their offer--" "I already told you what I think about their lowly offer." Jaehyun scoffs. "Don't speak to me again outside my office."
With that, Jaehyun stormed away, pulling me along with him.
He brought me to his car and I sat in the front seat. I turned to Jaehyun as he started his Lambourghini, "Why do you do that?"
"Do what, sweetheart?"
I was taken aback by the sudden pet name he used. My breath hitched and it was audible enough that he turned to me. Jaehyun smiled.
"Act cold to everyone?"
He placed one hand on the wheel and another on the gear stick. He released a chuckle, "Don't you think that it's the other way around?"

"Jungwoo!" Ten's wife spoke, "tell me about him."
"Ya, you are so nosy." Ten scolded this time around.
"Wae! I can ask what I want!" she raised her voice then turned to me, "but you only have to answer the same way.”
I chuckled at her expression and it was then that her baby started giggling at the faces her father was pulling.
"He was my happy pill. He brightened my day whenever I felt like I was on the brink."

"I fucking told you, Jungwoo," I snarled, shoving him away, "I don't want to fucking go ice skating."
Why couldn't he take a hint? I didn't even want to see him today because I had seen Jaehyun being flirted with by some young woman in his office. I was bringing him lunch, but all that went into the trash, literally, I dumped it in the trash.
Now I was in a horrible mood.
Jungwoo called me and said he wanted to take me somewhere. I refused, telling him why, but he insisted, saying he could cheer me up. And now just as I knew I would, I was now taking out my anger on him.
I expect him to lash out on me at this point, but instead he chuckled and cooed, "Ah, baby, you're so cute when you're angry." Jungwoo took my hand and pulled me with me, "Kaja, the rink awaits."
The next thing I knew, I was on the ice, latching on Jungwoo for dear life, "Ah, you didn't tell me you sucked at ice skating."
I growled, "Why do you think I didn't wan to fu--" "Ah, ah, ah," Jungwoo pulled way from me, "You want me to pull away?"
"No, you asshat!" I called, gripping him tighter.
"But I will if you don't clean your potty mouth."
I huffed but complied, "Please don't let me go."
Jungwoo blinked rapidly, lips twitching, breath hitching. "Please, what?"
My brows knit quizzically, "Please... sir?"
Jungwoo threw his head back and pulled me slowly into his arms, "Baby," he spoke airily, peering down at me, "I'm not that kinky."
He smiled, and pushed hair behind my ear. He then caressed my cheeks and licked his lips, "Jungwoo. Kim Jungwoo. Remember my name."

"Okay, come on," Ten said, carrying Autumn in his arms, "Time to go home."
I turned to my son who was tumbling in the grass nearby and called him. "Come on. Picnic time is over!"
He turned to me smiling widely, "I had swo mwuch fun! Can we pwicnwic toime again?"
I walked over to him and brought him into my arms. "Of course baby, anything for you."
"Can we bwing appa next toime?"
I froze where I stood and turned to my child. He looked at me with his big eyes and my heart started to hurt.
"Maybe."
He took my words gleefully.
After cleaning up, we went into the car, and drove back home, to our noodle place.
"Oh, look, it's only eight am! It looks like we have to won't open late today." the woman in the front seat beamed. "Ah, I'm excited to cook some ramyeon."
"Darling, you always cook ramyeon. Everyday, to be exact."
"Yes, but why would I tire if it's something I love to do?"

"Tell me, why would I get tired of helping you?" Jungwoo muttered softly, crushing me against his chest. I poured my tears out against his shirt, feeling my neck get pressed on by guilt.
"I'm crying to you over another man, my husband, your rival."
Jungwoo stayed silent for a moment, and at this point, I felt scared, that maybe he realized the weight of my words and would pull away. And when he did, I started to shiver. He spoke my name and I looked up at him.
"Why would I tire of you when I am so helplessly in love with you?"
My heart stopped for a second and then beat like a hummingbird.
Jungwoo wiped a tear rolling on my cheek and looked at me in the soft expression he always did. He let out a soft chuckle and examined my face, "I have seen you at your worst, when you're red in the face, puffy eyed, and runny nosed."
I turned away from him and attempted to turn away. He held me in place and took my chin, moving my head to look at his. Tears welled in my eyes at the sight of his sweet smile.
"Jungwoo--"
"Don't say anything if you're trying to change my mind." he said. "Whatever it is you are facing, I will be here to face with you. And in the same way, I hope to face every other thing you will in the future."

When we arrived at the shop, I helped my son get down from the car. He hopped off cheerfully and turned to me with a smile. I smiled back at him. He moved to go inside, up until he stopped and shouted, "Appa!"
My heart dropped.
The boy ran off inside and I quickly followed after. I called his name as he rushed inside. And just as the boy said, there stood a man there, face wet with tears, eye red.
The boy ran to him and wrapped his arms around his legs, "Appa! Did you cwome for pwicnwic toime?"
The man looked down at the child and I gulped, "What are you doing here?"
"I-" his voice cracked and then he crouched down to the floor, looking the boy in the eyes. The younger version of the that teary eyed, suit clad man, smiled and introduced himself. He then raised his small hands and wiped away the tears streaming down from his face. "Do you haw a booboo?"
The older man let out a chuckle and turned away from the boy, standing up.
"Is he... mine?"
"Of course he is. Would I lie to my own son?"
The man took a step back and knit his brows, "How do you know?
"The same way you're here. It's in your bones... you feel it." I spoke. The boy pouted and tugged the man's jacket, "I can help wiv booboos."
The small person was unmistakenly his, even if he couldn't believe my words. Anyone can see that my son had his father's eyes, nose, and lips.
"If you had known, why did you leave?" he said, voice slightly angry. "Why didn't you go to me?" he added, softly.
"I didn't know I was pregnant, until I was already so far out of reach. And when I did, I figured you don't deserve the trouble."
"Trouble?! He's my son!" he raised his voice. "He's the son of the woman I love... how... how could you think that?"
"I also figured," a tear fell from my eyes, "that if it wasn't trouble, you'd find us, because that's who you are... and I have never stopped loving you."

I only ever met one man who knew how to steal hearts, mine especially. I guess you could say that we’ve known each other for a while, but I never expected to give into these thoughts… these feelings I have for him.
I’m getting ahead of myself here. My name is (Y/N) (L/N) and I just turned 21 in August. No one knows me better than my best friend, who suggested that we go out together. Now, my best friend was already 21 since March, but she promised to wait for me so we could get drinks together. Katie Kingsley is my best friend and she’s also my personal hypeman.
“Bitch! I thought I told you to get ready!” Katie scolds.
“What’s wrong with what I’m wearing?” I protested, gesturing to my outfit.
“EVERYTHING! Are you 21 or 81?” Katie groaned as she pulled me towards my room.
Katie handed me a box, gesturing wildly for me to open it. “I got you a gift to open for later, but since you clearly don’t know how to dress yourself-” She cut herself off.
I shushed her by throwing a shoe at her, earning a screech. I laughed before I opened the box. My jaw fell to the floor.
“Katie, what the hell is this?” I asked.
“It’s a dress, dumbass. Are you blind?” She snorted.
Inside of the box was a beautiful, black velvet dress that looked to be my size. After checking the tag, it only confirmed my thoughts. It was my size. She also held up a pair of black heels to match the dress.
“Wear these with that dress. You’re going to look K I L L E R.” She ushered me into the bathroom.
Why did she seem more excited about this than I do?
Oh well.
I stripped my previous outfit and left it on the counter for now. Then, I slid into the dress that she had given me. Damn, it was tight and hugging my curves. It was giving me shape that I didn’t even know that I had. As much as I hated to admit this, Katie knew exactly how to make me dress. I put on the heels as well and put on some gold jewelry to match it.
“(Y/N), I swear if you don’t hurry- HOLY FUCK!” Katie exclaimed. “You look HOT!”
I laughed before asking, “What the fuck?”
“If I weren’t dating someone, then I would eat you up.”
“Let’s not do that.”
She laughed and sat me down so she could do my makeup and hair. I was seated at my little mirror vanity so she could do my hair and makeup.
Once she styled my hair and did my makeup, I looked to see she had curled my hair. Katie also had applied a gold eyeshadow, did a sharp cat eyeliner, and she had given me a sultry red lip. I almost didn’t recognize myself in the mirror.
“Wow, I look amazing.” I gasped suddenly.
“You’re going to tear it up out there.” Katie winked.
She pat my shoulder, “Come on, hottie. We gotta get to the club soon, or else we’ll lose our VIP tickets at Club La Noche.”
“You got tickets, VIP tickets at that, to that club? Don’t they have like a month long waiting list?” I looked at her incredulously.
“I have my ways.” She winked.
I’m in for one hell of a night.
*Time skip to the club*
The music was bumping through the speakers, blaring Kiss Kiss by Chris Brown as I recognized the tune. Damn, they’re playing the good tracks tonight. Taking in the scenery, there were bodies bumping and grinding on the dance floor, people crowded around the bar in hopes of getting a drink to quench their thirst.
Obviously alcohol isn’t the way to do it, but I mean, anything to have a good time, right?
There are neon lights flashing on the wall, and LED strip lights running around the club in various places. It looked like it had a blacklight effect.
What am I currently up to right now? I’m having a drink with Katie at the bar. We had found two barstools that were empty and we decided to occupy them. She and I were mindlessly chatting about everything from our favorite types of guys, to how good the drinks are at this place.
Suddenly, Katie gets approached by a guy and I give her a look. “Katie, I think you have a visitor.”
Katie turns her head and she stood up, giving him a gentle hug before turning to me. “Do you mind?”
I wave her off. “Go on. I’ll be here.” I smirked.
She stuck her tongue out and was pulled to the dance floor.
However, I was watching her disappear when I hear a voice behind me.
“Hola, como estas?”
My head spun around as I noticed a very muscular man come up to me. He appeared to be Hispanic and he had a lot of tattoos. His shirt was sleeveless, showing off his nice arms. His very veiny arms. I was speechless because wow. Holy. Shit. He looks so good.
“I-I’m good.” I answered after clearing my throat.
“Me llamo Richard, y tu?” He asks as he gestured to myself.
I gestured to myself. “I’m (Y/N).” I answered.
After a little bit of talking, he bought me a few drinks.
“So, what brings you here?” He asked suddenly.
“Oh, today’s my birthday. I just turned 21.”
“Oh! Happy Birthday!” Richard grinned.
“Thank you.” I smiled.
“Did you come here with someone?”
“I came with my best friend, but she was pulled to the floor with someone.”
He nodded and then he seemed quiet for a moment. “Would you like to dance?”
Oh my god. This really hot guy just asked me to dance. I realized I was being a little quiet because he was looking at me expectantly. I stood and brushed my hands over my dress to straighten it a bit before smiling.
“Sure, I would love that.”
Richard seemed to smile as he takes my hand, pulling me to the dance floor. Nothing seems to flow through my mind for a while as we started dancing. We were dancing pretty close to one another as Run It by Chris Brown played in the background. I was facing him, shaking my hips and moving fluidly to the beat before I turned around. His hands rested on my waist as I started to grind with him.
There we were, grinding fluidly and I could feel his hands running up my body. Did I mind? No. Did I want more? Absolutely. I could feel his lips brushing against my neck, pressing feather-like kisses and sending shivers down my spine. A soft moan passed from my lips and I could hear a deep chuckle behind me. Suddenly I was spun around in his arms, pressed against his chest. He sways his hips and engaged me in a dirty grind. But he pulled me close, our lips meeting in a fiery kiss. I could taste the bourbon on his lips.
It was sweet and savory at the same time. God, the kiss was lighting me up inside. I could practically feel him tasting my lips.
He leaned in and he kisses by my ear. “Wanna go with me?”
Mindlessly, I nodded in a hazy bliss. I knew I wasn’t drunk. Tipsy maybe.
But I could be drunk on the taste of Richard alone.

It was like we were attached to one another as I held onto him. He was kissing me, I was kissing back, and our hands were flying to feel one another. As we got into the hotel room, he picked me up and held me by my thighs, biting my lip. I decided to tease but then he growled, it ripping through my body and to my core.

He shimmied out of his pants and left him in his boxers.
Richard was quick to undress me the rest of the way before he started to slide his fingers into me. Using his middle finger, he began to work and massage my clit. Feeling the sensation, I moaned almost instantly. I didn’t have to wonder anymore what it felt like to feel his fingers work me. He used a circular motion to massage it and earn more moans from me. My fingers clenched the bedsheets beneath us as I moaned yet again.
He seemed to like watching because he chuckled. Then he added another finger. I moaned more intensely after feeling that. I happened to look up just as he licked his lips.
Fuck, that looked so hot.
After he continued moving his fingers, I eventually reached a climax and released onto his fingers. He removed them and chuckled, licking his fingers to clean them.
“Mm, bueno.” He purred as he slowly looked me over once again, and sending me into another blush.
“Are you ready, bonita?”
I nodded, my hands immediately going to his biceps to brace myself for the pain that was sure to follow. I noticed he had tossed a condom wrapper on the floor. Thank god.
Then I felt it.
He slid his dick into me and I gasped from the sharp pain. I was being stretched and filled in such a way that I had never experienced before. I waited for a few moments before whispering that I was alright. Just then, he took over and he started to move his hips. Of course I was a moaning mess and calling his name softly.
“Louder, princess. I can’t hear you.”

I moaned a bit louder as he began to nail my sensitive spot. Holy fuck. I was in pure ecstasy as he continued to hit that one spot. He knew it too because I could practically hear the smirk within his moans. They were musical and deep, gruff at times as well. I could have sworn this is what heaven was like.
After a while, we both reached our climaxes and I could feel him come undone at the same time I did. He pulled out of me and he laid down beside me. I snuggled into his warmth and we shared a few lazy kisses.
“Happy birthday, (Y/N).” He told me one last time.
“Thank you.” I told him one last time.
“I would like to see you again, if you don’t mind.” Richard says.
“I would love that.” I replied.
This was the best birthday I had ever had, and it was thanks to Richard. In the morning, he had made me breakfast and given it to me in bed. How sweet! I could definitely see myself dating him and having more days like this.
I noticed my phone ringing. Oh man, it’s Katie. I answered after hesitating.
“(Y/N) (L/N) WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU?!”
“About that… I went home with a guy last night.”
“Oh thank god. At least you didn’t get kidnapped. I expect a full report later.” She hung up.
Richard poked his head in, “Something wrong?”
I laughed and shook my head. “Everything is great.” He laughed and then kissed me. Best birthday ever.

The Grinch 2: Happy New Year Chapter 4-End of the day
At night, the Grinch, Cindy Lou, Max, Aggie and the twins arrived home, just before 9pm. Grinch and Cindy Lou have time to put the boxes of fireworks they bought aside, and hid them in a closet. It was meant to be a surprise for Donna Lou so she won't buy fireworks on her own for New Year's Eve.
While waiting for her, Grinch and Cindy Lou have time to get to know Aggie better.
"So, your wand staff is a penguin with wings like yours, and friendship symbol on its belly," the Grinch stared at Aggie's wand staff's appearance.
"Yeah. I love penguins, and I'm more into friendship than something violent," Aggie said.
"I love penguins, too!" Cindy Lou exclaimed. "They are cute and cuddly!"
While Max played with his new squeaky toy, he wanted to play it with the twins, which they only like patting Max.
"So, Cindy Lou," Aggie started to speak again. "Since you have your mom and brothers, where's your dad?"
Cindy Lou looked up to Aggie with a sad face, and shook his head, replying that his father was not here anymore.
Aggie knew that face when she looked at Cindy as she gasped, "Oh, I'm so sorry."
"It's okay," Cindy Lou said. "At least I still have my mom, and she still have me and the twins."
"And I'm sure that she's very lucky to have good children, especially you," Aggie poked Cindy Lou on the nose.
The Grinch smiled at this scene, and wondering what would life be if he had a family of his own. Yeas, Max is his family. He's been his loyal dog and companion ever since, but it would be great to have, maybe parents, wife and children, but he's too old for these things. On the bright side, he successfully fit in with the Whos of Whoville.
Suddenly, the knob of the door turned, and Donna Lou entered with supplies and still wearing her uniform.
"Mom, you're home!" Cindy Lou happily rushed towards her mother, and hugged her.
"Cindy Lou! I missed you already!" Donna Lou returned the hug. "So, how's your day?"
"It's great, Mom! Mr. Grinch took us out for a walk, and we met a new friend…" Cindy Lou ran towards Aggie, grabbed her hand, and pulled her with her. "Mom, I look you to meet our new friend, Agatha Galido. She came from another world."
When her daughter mentioned that her new friend came from another world, Donna Lou thought Cindy Lou was joking, but she knew that her daughter never told a joke, not even a lie. She was always serious. It's quite surprising to have someone who came from another world, but it was not so difficult to describe since the visitor has different appearance with wings than the Whos, especially Donna Lou herself.
"Well, it's very nice to meet you, Ms. Agatha," Donna Lou smiled as she extended her arm to Aggie.
"It's nice to meet you, too, Miss… uh, Who," Aggie shook hands with Donna Lou. "And please, call me Aggie."
"Guess my daughter wasn't kidding that you came from another world, Aggie."
"Or dimension. That's what my family, friends and I called it."
"So, what brings you here?"
"You see, Ms. Who, it's quite a long story, but I have to make it shorter. I was sent me by my element shard to solve some kind of friendship problem, and it said that it was here, in your world or in this town," Aggie explained. "But I looked everywhere, and I can't see any friendship problem around. So, I have to tag along with your friend and children here since it's getting late."
"But, you're still going to find a friendship problem tomorrow, right?" Donna Lou asked.
"I have to. Just before New Year, I have to fix a problem," Aggie replied.
"I wish you good luck with that, but right now, do you have a place to stay?"
"No. I just got here."
"Well, you should stay here with us. We have a guest room here for you to sleep in."
"Actually, Ms. Who," the Grinch interrupted. "I'm was going to ask her to stay with me and Max for tonight."
"Really?" Aggie inquired.
"Oh, it's no trouble that she can stay with us, Mr. Grinch," Donna Lou said.
"No, really, I insist. She can stay with us. Besides, I think I'm going to help her finding a friendship problem tomorrow," Grinch insisted.
"You really mean it?" Aggie squeaked.
"Sure. Just for a change," He answered.
"That's so sweet of you, Mr. Grinch," Donna Lou commented. "You're meant to be helpful after all, especially when you watch over the kids for me."
"Yeah, about that…" Grinch rubbed the back of his neck. He felt so guilty that he almost led the twin boys in danger. He thought he's not a good babysitter for them. "I have to tell you something. It's about… the twins."
"What wrong with Buster and Bean?" Donna Lou tilted her head to glance at her sons, who were playing with Max. "They look okay to me."
"Um, well, you see…" the Grinch was about to confess but not until…
"IT'S MY FAULT!" Cindy Lou shouted. She doesn't want the Grinch to be blame that he didn't do it, "Mom, I have something to confess. When we bought him a new alarm clock, I told him we should go to his place while bringing the twins. They almost fell, but Ms. Aggie saved them!"
"That was nothing. Making a giant marshmallow is no big deal," Aggie chuckled.
"But still, don't blame Mr. Grinch for this, Mom, I told him to come to his place with the twins. It's my responsibility. I'm the worst big sister ever! I'm sorry," Cindy Lou started to cry.
Grinch and Aggie felt guilty for Cindy Lou. She's just a six-year-old kid. She doesn't know better.
Instead of scolding her, Donna knelt down to her daughter, and hugged her, "Oh, Sweetie, it's okay. It didn't matter now. The important thing is you're safe." The mother and daughter again. Donna Lou then got up to talk to the Grinch, So, Mr. Grinch, I can't thank you enough to watch over my kids."
"It was nothing, really. And I'm sorry for the trouble," Grinch replied.
"That's okay. I know you've done all you could, and I understand that," Donna Lou said, making the Grinch smile. "So, I'll see you tomorrow again? You could take the kids out while helping Aggie finding a friendship problem."
"I'll be happy too. Oh! I almost forgot," the Grinch took a box, opened it, and took out a bouquet of different flowers. "For you."
Donna Lou gasped in surprise as she carefully took the flowers and sniffed them, "Wow! These are so beautiful! Thank you, Mr. Grinch, but you don't have to do this for me."
"Please, call me Grinch. I really insist. I thought you might need something to cheer you up after your whole day of work, Ms. Who."
"Call me, Donna. Thank you for the flowers."
"I guess it's time for us to go now," the Grinch said before heading towards the door. "Come on, Max. You too, Aggie."
Max bit his squeaky toy and followed his master, leaving Bean and Buster sadly, while Aggie grabbed her wand staff, and caught up with her new friends.

After leaving the Who household, the Grinch, Max and Aggie walked out of the town, and now, under the slope pathway of Mt. Crumpit.
"It'll be long walk to my place, but this is the only way," the Grinch said as he and Max started to walk up.
Aggie thought it was a boring idea to walk so far, so she took out a pouch of pixie dust from her bag, and secretly poured some on Grinch and Max.
"You guys, think happy thoughts," She advised.
"Why?" the Grinch asked.
"Trust me. Just do it!" Aggie yelled.
Without hesitating, while walking, the Grinch thought some happy thoughts, as so was Max. He didn't feel anything yet, until he felt his feet weren't on the snow anymore. He looked down and noticed he was floating off the ground. Max was also floating too, because of the effects of the pixie dust.
"What's happening?!" the Grinch screamed.
"Relax! They're just pixie dusts. They help you fly," Aggie flew beside the two friends.
"How can this help?" He asked.
"So you won't have to walk so far anymore!" She explained. "Come on, follow me." But Aggie noticed the Grinch was having a hard time flying. "Just lift your arms wide, and kick your feet.
Grinch tried to follow Aggie's instruction, and it made him like swimming. Max used his doggie paddle fly. It's like he was swimming on a pond. He missed swimming though since the pond was freezing during winter season.
Just for few seconds, the Grinch, Max and Aggie made in front of the cave as the pixie dust wore off.
The Grinch thought he would be scared that he experienced flying, but, instead, he never felt so alive and happy like this.
"Wow, that was incredible!" He exclaimed.
"I told you flying's not so bad," Aggie winked.
The Grinch laughed, "That was fun! I enjoyed that! Don't you too, Max?"
Max barked and flipped happily.
"There are more flying stuff tomorrow, but right now, we should rest!" Aggie said.
When Grinch unlocked and opened the door for him, Max and Aggie to get in and closed the door behind them, he stretched his body with his bones cracked after a long day of pushing the twins' stroller.
"What a day! It's like I've been pushing that stroller forever," He groaned.
"Let's just rest, so we have enough energy to find a friendship problem tomorrow," Aggie walked around the room. "If you really mean it."
"No, really, I mean it. I'm going to help you. That might be the way to prove myself that I change."
"Change from what?
"You'll find out tomorrow at breakfast. Let's just find you a room."
While Max rushed to the kitchen his doggy bed is, and went to sleep, Grinch and Aggie walked upstairs.
"So, where's the guest room here?" Aggie asked.
"Umm, I don't have a guest room," the Grinch said.
"WHAT?!" Aggie shouted.
"Sorry. I just didn't use for having visitors in my place," Grinch explained.
"No wonder there're so many signs outside, but where am I supposed to sleep?" The young woman required.
"The only sleeping room here is my room. Don't worry about that. I'll give you pillows and blankets if you sleep on the floor. Or maybe a sleeping bag so you won't get cold…"
When they were at the middle of the stairway, the Grinch felt something bright and flashy behind him. He turned and noticed there was a door on the wall of the stairs and beside Aggie, who held her wand staff.
The Grinch knew he didn't have a door on the wall of the stairway before. He knew Aggie was using magic a moment ago when he saw a door. He approached the door, and opened it, seeing a big room with a soft bed, closet, drawer, bright lamp and a chalkboard the other side of the bed.
"You have got to be kidding me," He gritted through his teeth, feeling jealous that Aggie has a clean and better room than he has.
"I can use magic to make my own room, just in case I have to stay here a little longer," Aggie explained. "And it's very rude to we have to share a room. I don't wanna! I'm comfortable of sleeping in my room anyway."
"You and me both, sista," the Grinch nodded. "I hope you're comfortable staying here. It's a cave though."
"Are you kidding? This place is more like a big house or mansion than a cave to me," Aggie replied as she entered her room. "I'll be fine. By the way, I have a question: What was that?"
"What was what?" He asked.
"The flowers."
"What flowers?"
"The ones you gave to Ms. Who."
Grinch just realized what Aggie meant, "Oh! Those flowers! Nothing. I just want to give Donna a present for, you know, a thing what friends do. I just thought that she could need something to get her out of stress."
"Are you sure that's a gift for a friend, or you two have some kind of chemistry?" Aggie smirked.
"What was that mean?"
"It means, you have a crush on her."
"What?! No! I only did that because she's my friend, and that's how I can give her something in return when Cindy Lou invited me to their Christmas dinner yesterday," the green one explained.
"Uh, yeah, I believe you," the winged human said sarcastically.
"Really, it's true. Donna is just a friend!"
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. Goodnight!"
Aggie shut the door in front of the Grinch, leaving him quite annoyed.
"Man, that woman is crazy and annoying!" He grunted.
The Grinch couldn't get use to have Aggie around him. Not because she's from another world, because she's annoying, but she almost reminded him of someone he knew before. He walked up the stars again to reach his bedroom.
Before he got on his bed, Grinch pulled a box under his bed, and dug up into some random things he had from the orphanage. He kept all his personal stuff when he was just a kid. One of the things is very important to him as he took it out: a photo of him and his best friend when they were just kids at the orphanage. His best friend is a who boy who almost looks exactly like Aggie, only not having wings or any magical powers, and having brown hair instead of black. The two are very close friends with each other, like brothers, until the Grinch's friend got adopted and never saw each other again.
"Oh, Whittaker, I missed you, buddy," He said before putting the photo under his pillow and went to sleep.

Genesis 23:1-24:51, Matthew 8:1-17, Psalms 9:13-20, Proverbs 3:1-6
Today is the 10th day of January. Welcome to the Daily Audio Bible. I'm Brian like every day and it's great to be here with you like every day and got a nice steaming cup of Windfarm coffee to my left, which is pretty normal, very normal. And off we go forward for our next step forward through the Scriptures this year. This is, of course, our 10th step, so only 355 more steps and we’ll be completing the Bible but this is our 10th step. We’re reading from the New International Version this week. Today we'll read Genesis chapter 23 verse 1 through 24:51.
Commentary:
Okay. So, in the book of Genesis we’re saying goodbye now to a very, very important figure, Sarah, the wife of Abraham, who bore the son Isaac to Abraham in his old age. She passes away today. And, so, obviously, Abraham is morning and he goes to the Hittites and he needs a place, he wants to buy a place where, you know, he can have his own kind of a burial site for his family. And we get a little bit of a glimpse into the negotiations of the time, right? You know, Abraham's like talking to all the leaders of the city in the city gate saying, “ask Ephron to sell me this”, right? Well Ephron’s sitting right there but this is more of a communal negotiation and Ephron's like, “I'll just give it to you, you can have it”, you know, and Abrahm’s like, “you know, just…just tell me the price.” And, so, we see this negotiation going on and Abraham buys Ephron's field and cave, the cave of Machpelah near Mamery in the Valley of Eshkol. I wish that might all just like a bunch of biblical, you know, site names or something that have no relevance but remember this, remember this day, remember that Abraham bought this cave because as the story goes in a couple of months this particular site will become important. And incidentally this particular site, this burial ground is still in existence until today and can be visited in the city of Hebron, which, you know, at times can be a tense place. And this particular burial site for Abraham and his offspring is one of the most holy sites in the world to people who are Muslim, to people who are Jewish, and also to Christians and those groups of people don't always see eye to eye on things. So, it can be a pretty tense place, which is kind of funny when you think about it. Some of the most holy places in the world are also some of the most contentious places in the world because everybody wants a piece. And as we continue our journey forward we’ll just have to decide whether that's good, it's a good thing or whether it's not, but nevertheless the place actually does exist. The structure that is over the top of the cave was built by King Herod. So it's very, very old. Of course, when Abraham bought it was much more old, it's a very ancient place and you can see this place in the Promised Land films. I’ve mentioned the Promised Land films I think once this year. It’s a great resource in the Daily Audio Bible shop. It’s two DVDs and then you can also download all the content digitally. But it’s over four hours of content letting you zoom into these places. And they’re just short films, like two to five-minute films of the location where you can kind of come in, find out what happened there biblically, but also get a good 360° view, like a good understanding of what that place looks like. So, when we went and filmed we had to, you know, we went into the mosque and had to have permission to go in there and film. Then there’s a synagogue on the other side, we had go through some pretty high security to get in there and, you know, there's lots of soldiers around that place. And as it turns out, we got permission from the military to do some aerial flights over it. And, so, you know, we’re flying a drone and filming and everything but we’ve got guys with machine-guns standing around watching what we’re doing, but we got that footage and it’s some of the only aerial footage from there. So, that's included in the Promised Land films as well as some of the other places like Gerar, we talked about in the book of Genesis today, we’re, you know, Abraham is again saying that Sarah’s his sister instead of is his wife and stuff. That's filmed. Like Beersheba is another place where Abraham spent so much of his time and where Ishmael and Hagar were sent away to wander in the wilderness of Beersheba. Like, these are real places. And, so, if you kind of want to…if you’re curious enough to go, “okay, I'm in, I want to know what these places look like”, the Promised Land is a great resource for that. Hey DAB family, this is Byron out in Florida. I was listening to the podcast on January 3rd on a device that I don’t usually use and long story short, I stumbled onto the Daily Audio Proverbs, which I had totally forgotten about and probably had never listened to before. And I played it, and I was like, “wow this is what I need to hear right now at this time in my life. I’m tired of making mistakes and I need to get on the right path with it.” And, so, I even wrote it down. And like, after I listen to the DAB, I’m gonna listen to the Daily Audio Proverbs. But I listened to the Proverbs and then I went back to the DAB and I got to the prayer requests and lo and behold there’s Joanne from Happy Valley talking about the Daily Audio Proverbs and kind of reinforcing with the Lord was currently telling me to do. And I just wanted to say thank you Joanne for that encouragement. And you talked about praying it with your family and that never dawned on me. I was like, “yes, of course.” And that very night I prayed it with my family. Hello, brothers and sisters in Christ who listen to the Daily Audio Bible, my name is Treasured Possession and I’m starting from the beginning for the first time this year and I’m very excited about listening. I’ve learned so many things. I love the fact that the Psalms in the Proverbs can be a snack because my husband are trying very hard to show up for God for the first time and learning about how to eat better and treat our temple better. And I just wanted to thank his little Cherrie for praying for my husband because his sleep is getting better. Thank you so much for your prayers and thank you so much for all the work that it takes to put on this program and for just everything about it. It has become such a blessing to me. So, I want to thank Jill for the 2016 More Gathering because she really helped me be myself in a different light and removed a lot of shame for my life. Hi everyone, it’s Lisa the Encourager, hope my neighbors are doing great. I’m so sorry I haven’t been able to call a little bit, but I do have a wonderful story that I want to tell you all. And first of all, I’m praying for you, yes, you who hears my voice right now, I am praying for you. I want you to know that. And then also the story. So, this beautiful gift that we all have, the Daily Audio Bible, we don’t want to hide that under a bushel. So, I get so excited at the beginning of the year to share that with others and I have these Daily Audio Bible cards that I’ve gotten from the Daily Audio Bible. So, I ask God, “please tell me who…lay somebody on my heart, who should I talk to this year and tell them about the Daily Audio Bible.” So, my husband went to this store that we don’t normally go to. Long story short, I had to return some items. So, I went in the store and I have the card in my hand and I’m like, “ Ok who am I gonna give this to”, and I went to the clerk and I said, “hey, I’m not sure if you have a New Year’s resolution or not but I want to share something with you.” And she said, “no I don’t”. And, so, I shared the story with her and she was very receptive and was like, you know, listening to me and was excited to hear about it and as I was walking out there was a gentleman sitting and anyway, she took the card and was very happy. I had another card. So, there’s another gentleman sitting at the door and his wife and I looked over at him and I could’ve sworn as I walked by that he was blind but I wasn’t sure. So, I walked up to him and I said, “may I ask you a personal question” and his wife said, “well, what is it”, and I just started right in telling them about the Daily audio Bible and most especially about Blind Tony and how much this has blessed me and that God really laid somebody of my heart and I felt sure it was them, that I would share this wonderful gift. So, I gave him the card and he and she, by the end of our conversation they were so excited. So, I know that’s who God laid on my heart. So, I just challenge you to please take…
Hi, this is Beth O’Brien calling from Delaware. I apologize, I totally drew a blank, but I wanted to wish my love for China and her fiancé. I’m so happy for them. China, we met in Israel together and we had to share the embarrassment of wearing some pants when we went to the Muslim mosque. Anyway, I think of you in praying for you often. I wanted to get to my point now too. Urgently, my daughter Deborah, her best friends brother tried to commit suicide on January 1st. He came to the house and put a gun to his head and thankfully the Lord has saved him. He’s now reaching out, he says he regrets that decision to try to take his life, but he definitely needs prayer. He’s got a lot of reconstruction to do as well as emotional and mental health issues, but he’s reaching…he wants to listen to the Bible. So, I’ve given him the information, sent him all the great news about Daily Audio Bible. So, if you could lift up Stephen in your prayers I would greatly appreciate it. Also, my dear brother Alan, his puppy, little Echo was killed by a car yesterday and my brother Alan, we’re all devastated. The puppy was probably 10 months old and he just lives and breathes for his pets and for Echo. And, so, we just ask that you would comfort him Lord and that he would go to you Lord and seek healing and peace. And lastly, my daughter Deborah is now going off to the University of Delaware in February and we’re all very excited with her, but if you pray for her, because this is really a huge opportunity for her and yet she has a lot of anxiety about what she’s facing and I just pray that you would support her in your prayers that she would make the right choices and she believe in herself and that…

“And four years later, we’re finally back.” Jim announced, coming into the cave.
“Ah, Master Jim. It’s was only over the day. Were you successful?”
He and Claire held up their grocery bags. “Well, I think the truck outside the sewer tunnel in the woods should be a good answer.”
“Ah! Splendid!”
The assembled trolls sighed in relief, glad that they wouldn’t be carrying the stone back on their own.
Jim started to unpack the items that others had requested from the surface. Some store bought, and others picked from the garbage.
He handed Blinky a can of whipped cream. “Did you guys figure out who’s coming with us in the truck and who’s walking?”
“I will be coming, as well as Merlin and NotEnrique. It’s not that I don’t trust you, but I want to see to that the Heartstone is properly cared for. And I would like to be able to make sure the stone is placed as soon as possible.”
“That’s fair,” Answered Claire.
“Why NotEnrique and Merlin?”
“Merlin is still a human,” said Merlin, coming into view. “And Merlin wants food and a soft bed.”
NotEnrique joined the group. “I’m coming because I don’t take up space, but I walk really slow.” Then he glared at Jim, “and someone’s gotta play chaperone on this love boat.”
Nomura, who was in her human form, approached the group. “I will stay behind. I can go to the surface in this form and get any supplies we may need.”
Jim looked at her, perplexed. “I thought you couldn’t shape shift into a human if your familiar was out of the dark lands.”
Nomura smiled. “You misunderstand. Our familiar just has to remain safe and unharmed. My familiar is currently being cared for by your mother, and as so, she should remain safe enough for me to keep up appearances.”
“Wow, you guys really have this all planned out.” Jim noted.
“Trolls don’t sleep,” Merlin said, matter-of-factly. Rifling through the groceries. “So while you were napping peacefully in your hotel room, we were talking for hours.”
Claire was beginning to suspect that Merlin was easily jealous.
“Well, the truck should be able to fit all of us. It has a back seat.” Jim pondered a moment. “With gloves and a hoodie, I should be able to drive all day and night.”
“Are you okay with that?” Asked Claire. “I’m not that good at driving, but I could take over when you need me to.”
“It’s alright,” he assured. “We’ll take breaks for food and stuff.”
“So I suppose the only thing left to take care of is putting the Heartstone on the truck,” Pondered Blinky.
“And that’s going to take all the help we can get.” Jim turned to the Trolls in the cavern, “alright, I need help from the strongest trolls to move the new Heartstone!”
“Carefully!!!”

Once the Stone was loaded on the truck bed, with only a few bumps, the group discovered a new problem.
“Who on Earth do you expect to fit back there?!” Blinky asked, looking at the club seating.
The seat was a bit smaller than Jim had initially thought.
“Well, you were the one that wanted to come along.” Jim shrugged. “Look, we put a UV protector on the windows in the back, but in some states, it’s illegal to have them in the front.”
“What does that mean?”
“It means that no sunlight should come in the backseat.”
“I have an idea,” said Claire. “During the night, Blinky can sit up front, then during the day, I’ll sit up there.”
“And what about me?” Merlin asked, crossing his arms.
Claire huffed. “Fine, we’ll just all take turns.”
“In that case,” said Blinky, “I would like a turn at driving.”
“Absolutely not.” Everyone else said in unison.
So Blinky rode shotgun first, being that it was still nighttime. While Claire and Merlin sat in the backseat. NotEnrique curled up on Claire’s lap, to nap. Jim plugged his phone in to charge, and turned on his GPS.
Then they were off.
For a while, they travelled in silence, just listening to the hum of the engine, as Jim navigated his way to the highway. From there, it was silent in the car as Siri gave lane switches and proper exits to take. It was a wild ride of weaving concrete and Jim was doing everything possible to avoid any kind of collision.
“Fascinating, do all carriages go this fast?” Merlin asked.
Claire answered. “Mostly, they can go faster, but there’s a legal limit.”
“Limit! We want to get back to Arcadia, don’t we? I say we punch it!”
Jim frowned, his eyes glued ahead. “But that could potentially get us in trouble with the police, and I’d like to avoid them as much as we can in this trip, hmm?”
“Police? Oh, your law enforcers. Do their carriages also move quickly?”
“Whatever you’re thinking, don’t.”
The first tollbooth was passed, and everyone fished around for enough coins to feed the machine. Getting more coins would be a necessity down the road.
At around 3 am, the road was wide open and straight. The only light came from the headlights, buildings dotting the distance, and the soft glow of the heartstone in the truck bed.
“For 252 miles, Use the left 2 lanes to stay on I-76 West toward Harrisburg.”
Jim groaned.
“252 miles? Why, that’s not that far.” Merlin placed his feet on the seat, against Claire’s legs and reclined.
Claire shoved him away, jostling NotEnrique in the meantime, and glanced at the map. “Yeah, but that’s just until our next turn. Our total trip is going to be 2,771 miles, according to the map.”
“Oh.” Merlin noted, with an unhappy tone.
“We have driven quite far already. I venture this was more that a few days travel on foot.”
Jim nodded. “And after all that, I’m glad we’re sitting and driving back. I’m exhausted.”
“You never really got to rest after the final fight,” Blinky observed. “How is your wound?”
“Mostly the same.” Jim admitted. “It looks okay, but it still stings.”
Back when they were at the hotel, Jim had come out of the shower in only his sweatpants. Claire had seen the mark on his chest, a shallow crater with cracks coming off of it like lightning. It looked like a scar, but she knew it had to still be bothering him. Even then, she was exhausted, and the moment wasn’t right, so she hadn’t mentioned it.
“Do Trolls scar?” She asked, as the conversation lulled.
Blinky seemed to think. “Suppose you hit a stone and it leaves a mark. Does that ever heal?”
“Um, not that I’ve ever seen.”
“Trolls are living stone. That is why our tattoos, as you call them, are created with a chisel, and not a needle and ink. But, as I have said before countless times, this may not be the case with Master Jim. If he is wounded, who’s to say it will or will not scar? Only time will tell.”
Claire took this answer with a shrug.
They had been driving for hours now. Conversation popped up here and there. But Blinky wanted Jim to concentrate on driving, and Merlin had a tendency to kill a conversation prematurely.
If only the radio worked.
Claire pondered this as Merlin drawled on and on about a battle waged in 1500 that he played a role in. The others in the car doubted his honesty, but stayed quiet, with nothing better to do.
“Incudo.” Claire whispered under her breath.
Suddenly, the sound system came to life, the speakers blasting electric guitar.
Merlin stopped talking as everyone stared at the radio.
“Peculiar,” Blinky said simply.
Jim smiled, “Hey! I know this song!” He started bobbing his to the tune, an 80’s rock anthem. Then he started singing, with gusto.
“Can't explain all the feelings that you're making me feel,
My heart's in overdrive and you're behind the steering wheel.”
Jim sat up in his seat, trying to match the falsetto of the singer. “Touching yooooOOOOoooooOOOOOu, touching meeeeEEEEEEeeeeee!
Touching you, God you're touching meeeeEEEEEEEEEE!!!”
Jim wasn’t really ever the musical type. It wasn’t that his singing was bad...it just wasn’t great.
But here, stuck in a truck with his beloved, his dad, and an asshole for hours on end, halfway asleep, he just decided to belt out the words and notes, glad to be a little goofy.
“I believe in a thing called love,
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart!
There's a chance we could make it now,
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down!
I believe in a thing called loooooooooooove!”
Oof, that high note was killer, and Jim’s voice cracked as he tried to reach it. For the next verse, he reached behind him, trying to touch Claire.
“I want to kiss you every minute, every hour, every day!
You got me in a spin but everything is A.OK!”
He growled, in an attempt to be sexy.
Claire laughed, and sang along with him, just as badly, since she didn’t know the lyrics.
“Touching yoooOOOOoooou, touching meeeeEEEEeeeeee,
Touching you, God you're touching meeeeeEEEEEEEE!”
Merlin covered his ears.
“I believe in a thing called love,

There's a chance we could make it now,

As the guitar solo broke out, Claire asked, “how do you know this?”
“My mom used to listen to it all the time! And we’d always sing along to it. How can you not!?”
The vocals came back in, with just clapping. “I believe in a thing called love,
Just listen to the rhythm of my heart.
There's a chance we could make it now,
We'll be rocking 'til the sun goes down.
I believe in a thing called looooooOOOOOOOoooove,
YEAAAAHHHHHHH!!!”
At the trash can ending, Jim drummed his hands on the steering wheel dramatically.
Blinky smiled. “It’s always so fun to listen to traditional human ballads.”
Merlin removed his hands. “Is it over?”
NotEnrique laughed. “I didn’t realize we were doing karaoke!”
Jim focused back on driving, panting slightly, though it didn’t matter too much, they were the only ones on the road. “I don’t know, I just really like that song.”
The next song started with a strike of cords on a piano, a bit of salsa thrown into the mix.
“Oh no…” Jim moaned.
“What?”
“I know this one too!”
“It’s Señorita!” Claire clapped cheerfully.
It was then that the group realized that they were listening to a CD, and even if they didn’t know the song at first, they would by the end of the trip.

Around dawn, Jim pulled off at an exit that sported a pair of yellow arches.
“It's tearin' up my heart when I'm with you

Jim pulled into the parking lot, parking under a tree, and shut off the truck.
“Thank God,” Merlin muttered in the backseat.
“Alright, Claire and Merlin get to go in and have breakfast, while Blinky and I figure out how to get him in the backseat.”
Merlin hopped from the truck gratefully, stretching and popping his spine. “And whilst you figure that out, Claire and I will decide who gets to ride in the front. I delegate myself, because I have longer legs.”
Claire huffed. “And I delegate myself because I didn’t turn Jim into a Troll.”
Merlin rolled his eyes. “I suppose you’re not going to let this go anytime soon, are you?”
Claire just smiled at him. “Take a guess.”
As they walked into the McDonalds, Jim climbed out of the truck as well, looking under the seats while Blinky inspected the Heartstone.
“Is everything alright, Master Jim?”
“Yeah, I’m just looking to see if there’s a way to bring the seat up a little.”
“It’s alright. I have become used to sitting in tight, enclosed spaces. Just be glad we are not traveling with Arrrgh.”
“There’s no way he’d fit in here.” Jim chuckled. There was no way to move the seat forward, but he did find a level that allowed the back of the seat to flip up, so Blinky could get in better.
Blinky climbed in, and Jim closed the door and the seat around him. “Comfy?”
Blinky returned a blank look while Jim just snickered. “I only wish I had brought a book or two with me to read.”
“Well, if we pass a book store, we can send Claire in to find something.” Jim climbed into the driver’s seat once again, just in time to dodge the sunlight that peaked through the tree branches. He relaxed, closing his eyes, and getting some rest.
But then, there was a knock on the window.
Jim jolted a bit, and swiveled his head over.
A police officer was staring at him.
Jim put both hands on the wheel. “Stay statue still,” he muttered to Blinky.
“Not going to be a problem.”
Carefully, Jim moved one hand and opened the door a crack. “Can I help you, officer?”
The policeman opened the door all the way, leaning against the frame. “What’s with the get up, son?”
“It’s a costume, sir.”
“And that?” He pointed at the large, unblinking Troll crammed in the backseat.
“Uh…my girlfriend’s costume.”
“Do you have your driver’s license with you?”
Jim nodded, ready to cooperate with the officer. “And I just bought this truck used, so I don’t have my insurance papers, but I can call my mom—“
“That won’t be necessary…” He peered at the license, “…Jim Lake Jr. Do you know why I’m here?”
Come to think of it, he wasn’t even driving. Why was he being questioned? “Uh…I can’t park here?”
He officer huffed, looking stern. “Last night, there was a break in at the Mineral Museum. Someone stole a very large and very valuable gem. One very much like the one in the back of your truck.”
He could have laughed if it wasn’t so totally unfair. Of course. Of course someone stole a giant rock that looked like the Heartstone. Why not? This trip couldn’t just be a simple drive back to Arcadia. Not after the mostly smooth hike. No sir, it had to be filled with drama.
Jim smiled awkwardly. “Uh…you probably wouldn’t believe me if I said that we just happened to find it, would you?”
“Son, I’m going to need you to step out of the vehicle.”
With a defeated sigh, Jim slid out of the seat.
The officer had to look up to meet his eyes. “How old are you?”
“16, sir.”
“Biggest 16-year-old I’ve ever seen.” He muttered, turning Jim around.
“I recently had a growth spurt.” He tried to keep a casual voice as he made eye contact with Blinky in the back seat. “I’ll be fine.” He mouthed.
“You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to have an attorney. If you cannot afford one, one will be appointed to you by the court. You can decide at any time from this moment on to terminate the interview and exercise these rights. Do you understand each of these rights I have explained to you?”
“Yes sir, I have nothing to hide.” That wasn’t exactly true, but his secrets weren’t exactly illegal.
“Alright. I’m calling a tow truck. We’ll be going down to the station, and the director of the museum will be called to identify your rock. If you truly did ‘just find it’, you’ll be free to go.” And with a stern hand, he was guided to the awaiting squad car and locked in the back seat.
Jim looked into the restaurant, hoping that Claire and Merlin would see him in distress. But instead, he saw them in a deep conversation as they ate breakfast.
All too soon, the tow truck came, and Blinky and the Heartstone were also on their way to the station.
A few minutes after they left, Claire and Merlin came out to a empty parking lot.
“Where the bloody hell is the Trollhunter?!”
NotEnrique, who had craftily snuck out of the truck while Jim was being ushered into the squad car, laughed by the door. “Ole Jimbo was arrested, for theft of a huge, precious gemstone.”
“Oh, is that all?” Merlin snorted. “Then I’ll be here, having another coffee.”

Still, that logic doesn’t stop the little twinge of guilt in Jimin’s chest when he sees Yoongi’s text saying, Have a safe trip, I’ll see you in two days <3 (he even used a heart, Jimin thinks dazedly) when in fact Jimin a) is already out of Busan and has been crashing on Taehyung and Jungkook’s couch since yesterday, and b) will be seeing Yoongi not in two days, but just one. He just tries to shake it off by imagining the surprised look on his boyfriend’s face when he comes knocking on his door bright and early tomorrow, armed and ready for their first date.

Taehyung appears by his shoulder seconds later, whistling lowly. “Well, that didn’t work. No worries though, Jimin! I’m going to find another way to get my necklace back. Sorry for dragging you all the way out here.”
Jimin says, “It laughed at me.”
Taehyung blinks. “What?”
“Taehyung, that dragon bastard laughed at me.”

A peek into Maya's relationship with Caleb is taking a turn. Alex is mentioned in this chapter but he does not appear. On with the show!
“Here we have Maya freaking Tesoro,” Ben Kissel announced. “Here on the LPN Show, to talk to us about life, music, sexuality, Maya oh my god, what a get,” “Dude, shut up,” she pushed. “You guys had Dan Ackroyd on the show, for the love of God!” she joked. “Also my middle name is Contessa.” Ben laughed. “You’re name is a fucking mouthful dude,” Ben noted. “Well it’s not as easy as Benjamin Grant Kissel,” she quipped. “It is super long though, my real name anyway,” Caleb Paulson sat in his seat on the train, with his earbuds in listening to his girlfriend laugh and fawn over some podcast loser. Also, LPN exclusive, I had the biggest crush on Marcus for awhile, this was before I knew Carolina was a thing, and I love her too so,” “Well, we’re happy to have you, now the point of this is to be very informal so it’s not like, an interview, so this is for purely selfish reasons do I ask- holy shit you worked with Alice Cooper?!” Maya laughed. “Like, as a dancer? You worked with Alice Cooper,” “Yeah, that was my big adult decision, because both my parents are not fans of that genre, like, they come to my shows but I told them do not come to a concert. They seem okay with that, because it’s a whole other level, covered in blood, dancing, half naked, ballet in front of your mother. Oh, in a cage no less,” “God, I could never, I did a live show in front of my mother, and even that was uncomfortable,” “I know people who have done, like, Hair!
