Thinking about all the shows I stopped watching because I stopped enjoying them and how much happier I was after I stopped.

This is just a gentle a reminder that if something you used to enjoy stops bringing you joy and just makes you mad/frustrated/furious, you can stop watching.

I give you permission if you need someone to tell you it’s okay. It’s okay. You don’t have to watch anymore. This goes for movies, books, sports, and whatever else you don’t enjoy anymore but still make yourself watch, whether that’s out of habit or a feeling like you need to see it through. You won’t have to. You can quit.

Quitting is good sometimes actually.

Yes I’m an elder millennial and NO, I’m not at all ashamed of my nostalgic ass LOVING the #Picard finale. Season 3 harkened back to a time in my life when I was a bright-eyed kid, full of hope and wonder.

Did it fall in line with season 1 and 2?

Nope: and that’s ok.

Was there fanservice?

Abso-fucking-lutely💯 The show is now made by fellow Trek Nerds.

Were there mistakes and/or slips?

Yup. Writers are humans too. Can’t please all the people all the time, and heaven knows some folks will NEVER be happy—about anything.

Was it worth it?

Won’t speak for anyone else, but certainly was for me.

Did they leave the door open for SO MUCH MORE TREK IN THE FUTURE?

Hell yeah, and like the happy little Trekkie I am, I’ll watch it all. If it doesn’t suit me—oh well🤷🏽‍♀️ What I didn’t get, I write into my fanfic or live for reading others.

Imagine you were roommates with someone who didn’t speak your language. And like. You guys are best friends, you love your roommate so much. You hang out all the time and it’s great.

But sometimes when you go to scratch an itch they suddenly get so upset. Like they’ll yell or clap or make weird sounds. You have no idea why because you’re itchy. You gotta scratch the itch! But it makes them so upset that you only scratch itches when they aren’t around.

Otherwise stuff is fine, they feed you and you’re happy living with them. You play games and stuff and even though you don’t speak the same language you both have a lot of fun. It’s just that sometimes they’ll burst out for no reason and you just get to deal with it.

That’s basically what it’s like for our pets, I think.

Can You Imagine Thinking Of, Making, And Posting A Video Like This And Believing That Other People Need Help And Not You?

If you dislike certain fictional content, characters, or ships, then you don’t have to, but don’t make a video essentially telling people who like fiction and are AntiHarassment to get help.

There’s nothing to get help for unless someone can’t differentiate fiction from reality and condones it in real life.

As much as I want to make fun of this video, I also don’t because I actually feel really bad for the person behind it.

I don’t want to make massive assumptions, and I don’t think others should either, but I’m actually a bit concerned about them because no one makes a video with a fucking title or thumbnail like that if they’re okay.

Either something is wrong, they wanted to trend hop and clout chase on a popular topic right now, or both.

one of the worst things in the world is that feeling unloveable can (and will) make you act in ways that reinforces itself. I feel unloveable so I don’t respond to messages so people reach out less so I feel unloveable. one of the hardest things in the world is fighting back the brain demons long enough to break the cycle
