why you should listen to sitcomd&d if you’re a dndads fan:
- as you can probably tell by the name it’s also a comedy podcast set in the dnd universe
- and with genuine professional improvisers ! my favourite cast member changes every time I listen
- very pisscentric . arguably even more so than dndads s2!
- pretty much all the characters have silly names. (one of the main characters is literally called Beef. Just Beef).
- they don’t actually play dnd properly ! just like dungeons and daddies ! but in an endearing comedy kinda way !
- did I mention that one of the comedians is Erin Keif ?? she’s a main character !! we all love Erin Keif!! from hey riddle riddle, hello from the magic tavern & that one bonus dndads Flight Risk episode? Come onnnn
- also they have great guests!!’ like Adal Rifai, John Patrick Coan, Thomas Sanders, Janet Varney, Rekhar Shankar etc
- Oh and of course Anthony Burch!! he even DM’s a whole episode!!!! and yells at them for being even worse at dnd than the daddies crew!!
- and truly the show is set up to be like a sitcom so you should be able to just dive in to any episode you’re interested in without knowing the lore & still have fun. So if anything you can go and listen to the Anthony episodes if you can’t commit to the whole show (but you totally should)
- two canonically bisexual characters !!!! and also a very sexual rat
- oh and a legitimate, canonical will-they-won’t-they romance between two of the lead characters
- it’s also kind of got that “fish out of water” type theme except instead of the characters coming from another world, one of the cast members plays a rich princess who now lives in this grungy and very piss laden bar.
- and all the characters are stinky gross goofy little gremlins guys that are both kinda good people and horrible people at the same time?? you’ll love it dw
- also they already have 5 seasons !!! so you can binge them as they’re about 22 episodes each, just like a tv sitcom. it’s super cute, and like I said above you can just right into any season if you don’t wanna start from the beginning & you should be good to go.
- personally I’m a big fan of S2 as the cast have really hit their groove, the editing really finds its voice and you get an episode each dedicated to each of the characters backstories.
- aaand of course, on a personal note, I really need more people to listen so there’s more fandom content on tumblr 😇😇

Ok so when Neil said it would be quiet, gentle and romantic and “they like holding hands” turned out all our predictions were wrong and he was actually talking about Beelzebub and Gabriel-AKKSKDKDL

The way they gave us these 3 first episodes is actually so satisfying because I feel like I got a whole season already with all this shit happening (especially with this ending) and now I’ll have to wait several months (or a year or more) in a brain rot to know/see what’s next. But, wait ! Actually NO, that’s next week and I just SQUEEEEEEE !

I haven’t drawn Fake Peppino in AGES
For any Fake Peppino lovers out there that I’ve disappointed I’m so sorry- 💀🙇‍♀️
And for anyone WHO HASN’T EVER SEEN me actually draw him I’M EVEN MORE SORRY 🙏🙇‍♀️🙏🙇‍♀️🙏🙇‍♀️
Now I personally don’t want newer viewers seeing my cringe ass Fake pep art but if anyone who does wanna see it- (HEADS UP FOR INTENSE BODY HORROR-) take these few links (I’m sorry I can’t scroll through my entire blog again just take some examples- 🥲):
Here, here, here, here and here.
The first one is my first ever drawing of him, I did not draw him normal- 💀
Anyways….this means have I changed how I draw him? Yes!
Tumblr media
Look at the silly goober!! I may draw him just like this for now however…It was fun drawing him like the slimy disaster he was but it’s fine-…It always took a bit of time to draw those 🤷‍♀️
But just for the fun of it, and for old times sake, take a body horror Fake Peppino: (Warning, it looks kinda bad- 💀)

"We got along just fine before mom and dad died."
Darry is 6 years older than Ponyboy. Now, I have siblings that are 14, 12, 8 and 7 years older than me because of my mom's 1st marriage. I was technically an unplanned baby and a surprise one cause my mom swore she couldn't have children anymore. My experiences growing up in a house with that big of an age difference, the older siblings tend to treat you different than they would to siblings closer in age.
Ponyboy "got along" with Darry because Darry had a life outside of him. When Ponyboy was 7 and in grade school, Darry was already out with friends probably not coming home till way late. It wouldn't surprise me if Ponyboy didn't see him for days, despite living in the same house. I truly think that he and Darry didn't start fighting till after Mr. & Mrs. Curtis died and Darry had all these responsibilities and had to become a parent over night; and then there's Ponyboy who's inner voice is screaming 'you're not my parent' and he's not wrong.
This is canon now thank you

2014 - realized I liked girls but began desperately trying to “pray the gay away”
2016 - stopped believing in Christianity as I began to better accept my sexuality
2020 - publicly came out as bisexual, and shortly after my gender crisis began
2021 - nonbinary ? we’ll run with it, I’m experimenting! I’m playing with it! I’ve been in college for a year so now I have the room to try some things out!
2023 - my first pride parade! and the gender crisis continues on…. I would really love more masculine features… a deeper voice is my dream… I see men with flat chests and I get so envious. maybe I’m trans?
2024 - FINALLY allowing myself to use multiple labels that feel right! nonbinary, transmasc, genderfluid, genderqueer, they all feel like ME! planning on starting HRT after I get married and get onto my fiancé’s health insurance. plan on getting married in a wedding dress because THAT’S WHAT I WANT! because gender is not a strict binary and I am allowed to play with it however I want! my gender is not for the pleasure or comfort of anyone else! I got to experience my SECOND pride finally feeling content with myself and my identity! I’m happy! I’m so happy :)

something that pisses me off in RA is that Flanagan will occasionally hype up Pauline as this super important and prominent figure in Will’s life, even treat her as a proxy for the mother he never knew, and yet will just refuse to show it beyond the like. two or three (personal) conversations that they have in canon. I get that he was attempting to make her an important person in Will’s life but why not do that by actually making her an important person in Will’s life
#hey Flanagan I hate to tell u but just because she’s married to Will’s father figure does not automatically make her his mom figure#what REALLY annoys me is how easy it would have been for him to connect her & will#like hey. if only there were a pretty clear gap in Will’s education that halt couldn’t fulfill - say for example mmmm diplomacy?#(cause we all know how gifted halt is at conflict resolution)#then he’d have a valid reason to seek out a master of diplomacy for lessons in negotiating compromises & treaties#but no I guess not. Will’s just naturally good at diplomacy despite never really being exposed to it#yk what extra sucks?#if Pauline HAD taught will about treaties & stuff then him receiving the last name treaty wouldve been 1000x more meaningful#it would’ve spoken to her influence on him and solidified her as a sort of parental figure in her own right#AND as an extra extra bonus: if she came to the cabin to teach will about negotiation tactics and such#then we could’ve gotten more halt/Pauline interactions. as in: we could’ve actually seen them being in love ON SCREEN instead of just being#told that they loved each other#will could’ve had a chance to see how much the two of them mean to each other. and then he would’ve had some actual basis for a speech#at their wedding or whatever#but yeah no why do that when we can just imply that will & Pauline got super close off screen? same effect right?????#ranger’s apprentice#pauline dulacy#halt o’carrick#will treaty#I love these books so so much don’t get me wrong. but there are just some things……#anyway.#jackie rambles

Does it ever feel pressuring (no pun intended) to work on a show with such a legacy and history as SpongeBob?
VERY much so, but in a good way, if such a thing exists! one of our mantras on our little storyboard plussing team is “pressure makes diamonds” and it is a very applicable saying
when i first started, i was TEEEEERRRIFIED! i really felt like i had no idea what i was doing, and there have been so many times where i’ve turned in a section and genuinely thought “oh my god they’re gonna fire me for this it’s so bad.” working in animation is frazzling enough! but not only are we working on a cultural mecca, with not only the kids of today to entertain, impress and inspire, but to maintain the integrity of the series and entertain/impress/inspire the kids like us who grew up with the show, we are also working with literal animation legends and animation veterans!! it’s pretty surreal to be working on the same show as someone like Bob Camp, who’s been in the industry for 40+ years… and even more surreal when he says he’s a big fan of your work 😵‍💫‼️‼️‼️‼️
THANKFULLY, i’ve made a lot of strides in curbing some of my storyboarding stage fright. it used to be really bad when i started, like genuinely panic attack inducing! the constant patience and guidance and encouragement of my peers and consistent practice from these past three years have really allowed me to grow and blossom. now, when i feel a bit claustrophobic in remembering the pure scale of what we’re doing, i weaponize it for good!!
i think of how inspired and amazed and obsessed with SpongeBob i was as a kid. how it inspired me to draw, how i remember drawing along to episodes and commercial breaks. my brother and his wife are both elementary school teachers and routinely update me about how their kids are still crazy for SB (and they both brag about me to their kids heheh). i think of all the kids watching, all the kids realizing that getting to draw these characters and interact with them and live in their world is something you indeed can do, all the kids who religiously catch each new episode like i once did… it just fills me with so much confidence and hope and love, and that motivates me to deliver and do my best and try to do what i can to help make each episode be better and more fun than the last
SpongeBob is for everyone, obviously! that’s one of the great things i love about working on it: i get just as much enjoyment watching our finished episodes as our target audience. but i do bring up the kids particularly often because, at the end of the day, that is who we are doing it for and i also just can’t help but think back to how my SpongeBob obsessed self as a kid would have had her world rocked to know i’m doing what i’m doing. i want to give those kids, who i used to be and still essentially am, the same joy and spark and all consuming inspiration i felt and still do
there are definitely some days where the gravity of what we’re doing hits harder than others! some days are a lot more difficult than others. this is an absolute dream job, i’m not just saying that, i always fantasized about maybe one day being able to work my way up to working on SpongeBob and now it’s my first animation job—but it is very easy to get overwhelmed by just how big of a legacy we’re carrying on our shoulders! how many other mega talented people work on this show! there’s a lot to juggle. but we juggle it well. there is so much love and heart and care poured into this show. we do everything we can to maintain the integrity of the characters and the show’s core, and it just makes me love what i do all the more and makes me more determined to do it
TLDR: YES! but i’m much better off for it, because it reminds me of why we’re working so hard to begin with. we all want this show to be the best it can—to maintain its core 25 years later, but still have fun doing it. i mentioned this on Twitter, but when i met Bill Fagerbakke last month he was saying how cool it is that fans who grew up with the show are now able to work on it and i couldn’t agree more. it’s the greatest honor imaginable being able to carry such a monumental torch, and i hope i’m able to keep at it for a long, long time.
