In the viz translation of chapter 51, Don Krieg calls Mihawk a “dandy” (lol) and in ch 52 he calls Mihawk “fancy pants” (LMAO). Don Krieg doesn’t say anything like that in the fan translations I’ve seen, so I’m wondering what Krieg calls Mihawk in the Japanese version?

this is REALLY funny, actually. yeah, they just added these in. in the first instance the original just says あの男/ano otoko ('that man'), and in the second he addresses him as てめェ/temē ('you bastard').
so.... don krieg homophobic but only in translation??

still not over op;la just having mihawk one-shot don krieg in the background of a phone call. absolutely the funniest choice they could've made. the relief that washed over my body when i realized we wouldn't have to spend an hour of screen time fighting that guy was magnificent. the storyline he truly deserved.

Now that we know Gin is alive and in the New World, can you imagine him, Don Krieg, and Pearl meeting the Strawhats again? Because Nami never even saw them, Zoro and Usopp only saw them for a few moments and then both were significantly more distracted with Mihawk’s arrival and Zoro nearly dying…and of course the rest of the crew never even heard of them.
So Don Krieg sees Luffy and starts calling him a monkey again, taunting him and what not and Luffy genuinely has no idea who he is, neither does anyone else on the crew. And when Luffy asks Don Krieg is so offended that Luffy doesn’t remember him and starts screaming which attracts Gin. And immediately Luffy and Sanji are just like ‘oh hey! It’s Gin! Remember from the Baratie?!?!’ And Nami, Zoro, and Usopp are all like ‘uhm…. Nope’.
And Krieg and Pearl are even angrier because how dare Luffy and Sanji forget them. Meanwhile Gin is just asking to have more fried rice from Sanji.

I don't like how I drew Charlotte Oven, his facial expression is awkward, otherwise I like how that sketch turned out. The Capone Bege one is my favorite.

Unpopular opinion about Live Action One Piece: I actually don't like the removal of Don Krieg's plotline cause 1) Krieg is fine, you guys are just mean, and 2) no Don Krieg plotline means no Gin's character development and no fight between him and Sanji, meaning no empactful display of kindness being repaid with kindness, even from the most surprising places.
Plus, throwing the beginning of Arlong and Nami's plotline in the midst of Sanji's arc was hogging the covers too much and taking away from Sanji's character development screentime.
Though props to them for being able to still make the flashback and saying goodbye emotional.

Baratie (manga) - Initial Thoughts
Baratie (manga): 8/10
As my first arc with the manga, I thought this was a very good time, and definitely the best so far! Starting with the anime and moving to the manga really highlights the quality of art on display, major compliments to Oda! Anyhow, I thought this arc had some of the best fights, best new characters and best emotional moments so far. Sanji and his past with Zeff was great, Gin's arc was very solid, while I feel like Mihawk came a little bit out of left field, it served as a good point where Luffy got separated from his crew, and it served as a great next step in Zoro's character. I think my biggest issue is with Krieg. He's a really flat, boring villain with really generic goals who everyone constantly gasses up when all we really see of him on screen is him getting his ass kicked by Luffy for like 10 chapters in a row. Anyhow, aside from Krieg, this was a really solid arc, and I hope it marks a turning point for quality in this series. People say next arc is the best of early One Piece, so we'll see if it's make or break for me in Arlong Park.

📺 Re-Watching OPLA, random comments:
Episode 6
How sweet is Zeff when he calls Sanji "little eggplant"?
Young Sanji's tranformation on day 50 hits me everytime;
Such a shame Patty doesn't get so much space. He was hilarious in the manga;
I did honestly like Arlong introduction here instead of the fight against Krieg. I find Krieg to be one of the least interesting villians in the manga, so it was ok for me to see him just defeated by Mihawk in the prev episode. The choice to have Arlong as the main villian of the season was great;
Buggy's return was very much appreciated! Especially the last scene with the circus music.
