Navigating the Legal Maze: How a Criminal Defense Lawyer in Jacksonville, FL Can Help
In the realm of criminal law, navigating the legal maze can be daunting, especially when you find yourself facing charges. However, in Jacksonville, Florida, individuals have a crucial ally in their corner: the criminal defense lawyer. This comprehensive guide aims to shed light on the invaluable role that these legal professionals play in helping individuals maneuver through the complexities of the legal system in Jacksonville.
Understanding the Legal Landscape in Jacksonville, FL
Jacksonville, with its vibrant culture and bustling population, also grapples with its share of legal issues. From misdemeanors to felonies, individuals may find themselves entangled in the web of criminal law. Understanding the legal landscape is the first step towards effectively navigating through it.
The Role of a Criminal Defense Lawyer
A criminal defense lawyer serves as a beacon of hope for those facing criminal charges. Their primary role is to provide legal representation and counsel to individuals accused of committing crimes. In Jacksonville, these lawyers are adept at understanding local laws, and court procedures, and building robust defense strategies tailored to each case.
Why You Need a Criminal Defense Lawyer in Jacksonville, FL
The need for a criminal defense lawyer cannot be overstated, especially in a city like Jacksonville, where the legal system can be unforgiving. These professionals bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the table, ensuring that your rights are protected and that you receive fair treatment under the law.
The Benefits of Hiring a Criminal Defense Lawyer
Legal Expertise: Criminal defense lawyers are well-versed in criminal law, procedural rules, and courtroom etiquette. Their expertise can make a significant difference in the outcome of your case.
Strategic Defense Planning: Crafting a solid defense strategy requires careful planning and analysis of the facts surrounding the case. Criminal defense lawyers leverage their experience to develop effective defense strategies tailored to the unique circumstances of each case.
Navigating Legal Procedures: The legal process can be complex and overwhelming for individuals without legal training. A criminal defense lawyer guides you through each step of the process, ensuring that you understand your rights and obligations.
Protecting Your Rights: Everyone has rights guaranteed by the Constitution, including the right to a fair trial and the right to legal representation. A criminal defense lawyer acts as a staunch advocate for your rights, ensuring that they are upheld throughout the legal proceedings.
Negotiating with Prosecutors: In many cases, criminal charges can be negotiated or reduced through plea bargaining. A skilled criminal defense lawyer knows how to negotiate with prosecutors to achieve the best possible outcome for their clients.
How Criminal Defense Lawyers in Jacksonville Build Strong Cases
Building a strong defense requires meticulous attention to detail and a deep understanding of the law. Criminal defense lawyers in Jacksonville employ various strategies to build compelling cases for their clients.
Investigation and Evidence Gathering
One of the first steps in building a defense is conducting a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the alleged crime. This may involve interviewing witnesses, reviewing police reports, and gathering any available evidence that supports the client's innocence.
Legal Research and Case Analysis
Criminal defense lawyers in Jacksonville conduct extensive legal research to identify relevant statutes, case law, and legal precedents that may impact the outcome of the case. They analyze the facts of the case in light of applicable laws to identify potential defenses and weaknesses in the prosecution's case.
Expert Witness Testimony
In some cases, expert witness testimony may be necessary to bolster the defense's argument. Criminal defense lawyers work closely with qualified experts, such as forensic scientists or medical professionals, to provide expert opinions that support the client's innocence or raise doubts about the prosecution's case.
Preparation for Trial
If the case proceeds to trial, criminal defense lawyers in Jacksonville meticulously prepare for courtroom proceedings. This may involve conducting mock trials, preparing witnesses for testimony, and developing persuasive courtroom presentations to effectively advocate for their client's innocence.
The Importance of Communication and Client Support
Effective communication is paramount in the attorney-client relationship, especially in high-stakes criminal cases. Criminal defense lawyers in Jacksonville prioritize open and transparent communication with their clients, keeping them informed about the progress of their case and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
Final Thoughts
In the end, navigating the legal maze of criminal law in Jacksonville, FL, requires the expertise and guidance of a skilled criminal defense lawyer. These legal professionals play a pivotal role in defending the rights and interests of individuals accused of committing crimes, ensuring that they receive fair treatment under the law. By understanding the legal landscape, recognizing the benefits of hiring a criminal defense lawyer, and appreciating the strategies they employ to build strong cases, individuals can navigate through the complexities of the legal system with confidence and peace of mind.

My Lover’s The Sunlight [Higuruma Hiromi]
an: a wonderful thought that I simply couldn’t pass over when it was suggested to me, especially as a glasses wearer myself… Hiromi likes it when you keep your glasses on.
pairing: Higuruma Hiromi x female reader
warnings: reader is a glasses wearer, bit of domestic bliss, alcohol mentions, making out turns into much more, NSFW
The evening had been a pleasant one. Not often did you take the time to cook together these days, more often than not it was hastily thrown together hodgepodge meals or heated up prepackaged food for convenience alone.
It was understandable when you were both so very busy, and it wouldn’t go on forever, that much you knew for a fact. So, to have shared a delicious home cooked meal and a lot of laughter at Hiromi’s supremely lacking culinary finesse, it was a balm for your heart and soul.
With bellies full and good humour in abundance, settling into a nightly routine was as easy as pie. Your latest book rested on your chest, legs up on the couch with your feet in Hiromi’s lap. He massaged the tired arches, rolling his knuckles along the soles and pinching playfully at your wiggling little tootsies. The movie he had stuck on played quietly as background noise to the idle chatter you indulged in, everything was perfectly at peace.
“We should have evenings like this more often,” you mused out loud whilst reaching for your wine glass and taking a long, well deserving sip.
Hiromi agreed with a noise in his throat. His gaze moved from the screen to your face, dipping from your eyes to your mouth, watching as you licked away a stray droplet of cabernet. The hand at your foot moved to your ankle, thumb grazing over your ankle bone before grasping to tug you deeper into the cushions.
You offered a saccharine smile, dripping in honeyed possibilities. “Need something mister lawyer man?”
~
It had started innocently enough from that point. Discarding your book in favour of indulging in the spicy heat of your husband’s mouth. His tongue licked across your teeth to curl with yours. Your fingers ran through his thick head of hair, twisting the black strands near the roots just how he liked.
Soon you were sat on his lap, straddling him with your chest flush to his and your hips undulating to rut your pelvis against the bulge that was awakening impressively fast. Hiromi’s hands explored beneath your sweater. Broad palms glided along the length of your sides and his fingertips teased at the lace of your bra, dipping past the cups and tweaking at your nipples to hear your breathy little squeaks.
Hiromi’s kisses moved to your jaw, your neck and your décolleté. His hooked nose nudging insistently at the modest neckline whilst he grabbed at you more firmly, making you gasp.
“Off,” he ordered to your surprise. The bark of the word was so unlike him that you merely blinked for a moment, meeting simmering eyes that told rich tales of how he was going to devour you this evening. “The sweater, please… it’s in the way.”
“You’re lucky you added a please or else I might have said no…” you teased, knowing full well that was not the case. The arousal between your thighs had increased from his tone alone, causing you to clench in anticipation. There would be no refusals, but it was always fun to toy with him a little. A sleek eyebrow rose by reply, Hiromi questioned your certainty and gazed down to where you were mercilessly grinding into him.
Huffing at being caught in the obvious lie, you reached up to remove the glasses from your face only to be stopped. Hiromi’s hand encased your wrist, stroking over the pulse. “Keep these on. I like it when you wear them when we—y’know, when we… fuck.”
Oh.
A jumble of hastily discarded clothes surrounded you. Underwear sticky with arousal obscured the corner of the television, Hiromi’s tie decorated the side table lamp and a stray sock had managed to land in the plant pot by the window. None of it mattered, not when the man beneath you had a mouthful of your breast and was lining himself up for you to sink onto his cock.
You glanced at him over the rim of your glasses, eyes low-lidded and sultry. You were aware your glasses were perched further down your nose than usual, knocked slightly askew from the fervour of shared kisses. Hiromi bucked upwards without thought, his cock slick with precum lost its place at your entrance, slipping to your clitoral hood and adding such sudden pressure and friction against your pert clit that your nails clawed into his shoulders. The chain reaction continued; hot moans muffled around your breast, streaks of red decorated his shoulder down to his chest and you twitched in Hiromi’s hold, desperate to be stretched and filled.
“Hiro—dear god… you’re going to be the death of me! Come… here.”
Reaching between you, the velvet skin of Hiromi’s foreskin rolled back with little effort. Pumping him once then twice, gasping when his teeth sunk a little deeper around your areola, you rose higher and welcome him inside—welcomed him home with a low guttural moan of satisfaction.
You rode him slowly, careful to roll your hips and draw them back enough that only the tip of him remained lodged between your walls. Hiromi hissed through clenched teeth, finally withdrawing from your tender breasts to let his head fall backwards, sweat edging his hairline and the tendons in his neck stark in their strain. His hands pawed at your backside, spreading you further open whilst he watched you through near shut eyelids. Leaning in, your lips claimed his. His hot breath mixed with yours, spurring you to move faster when his stomach contracted, and he whined into the depths of your mouth.
“You—I… oh fuck—fuck! Look at me, lemme see you,” he wailed, his voice an octave higher and filled with urgency.
The second you pulled back to glance at him, he bit savagely into his bottom lip and his eyes travelled between your face and your tits that moved in time with your frantic bouncing. It made you smile, lopsided and punch drunk, seeing your husband still so affected by you after all these years. His cheeks were a ruddy pink, droplets of sweat running from his hair to his jaw and if eyes could look like hearts, then that would be the only way to describe the love and adoration following your every movement.
“Fuck—love you. So much. Fucking goddess… so beautiful,” he slurred enthusiastically.
Hiromi wrapped a hand around the hair he could reach, tugging it into his palm and driving upwards with sudden ferocity. Hiccuping from the unexpected change, you clenched around his length, letting him take over as the pressure in your belly reached the point of no return. Your orgasm broke over you more quickly than expected, the taut stretch of tension snapped in half as pleasure contracted your muscles and made you spasm over and over. He fucked you through it, holding your pliant body to take every impact of his cock drilling into you, angling you so that the soft tissue near your belly cushioned him perfectly.
He was lost to his desires, to his obsession of memorising every line and detail of your blissed out face. Your glasses squint and foggy, eyelids drooped and mouth agape. Your breasts jiggled perfectly, shiny from his spit, tender and swollen from his mouth and how he had bitten and suckled your skin. What pushed him over the edge was the reflection in your lens, his face reflected back to him and the raw adoration more than evident in his expression. He loved you. He loved you much, and he would never able to verbalise it as eloquently as he would like, despite his years of schooling and far from lacking vocabulary.
Everything was perfection to him; you were his everything and he poured the entirety of his essence into the orgasm that shot through him with a sound like a war cry. Only then did he loosen his hold, welcoming you to drape yourself against his panting chest. Boneless and dewy with sweat, your skin tasted salty when his lips found your shoulder and he licked at it like a kitten drinking milk.
“That was…” you panted, trying to catch your breath. “That was something, huh?”
“It was more than just something.” Hiromi kissed your cheeks before returning to your mouth, speaking with his lips ghosting yours. “You’ve really got no idea how sexy I find you, do you?”
His cock twitched, sloppy movements causing you to arch and stretch from the continued fullness of being impaled. Of course you knew, it was written all over his face, but it still made you flush to think about, not least admit.
“I have some idea.”
Hiromi sighed, a happy sigh though he shook his head. “Darling, you have no idea.”

pairing: lawyer!jungkook x lawyer!fem reader
cw: fluff, mature language, banter, established relationship, mentions of domestic violence, inaccurate depiction of law bc do i look like a lawyer? 😭 written in lowercase and also, unedited … boo me.
—
“how could you?!” you slammed the newspaper down onto jungkook’s desk. he peered up at you through his glasses, unsurprised at your reaction. the headline of said newspaper read: superstar mingyu suspected of cheating on korea’s sweetheart somi in amidst of domestic violence trial.
“i knew you played dirty, but this is a new low for you, jeon jungkook.” you sneer, pacing back and forth in his office. he watches you, eyes never leaving the way your skirt hugged your figure.
“well, did he not? the pictures on your phone from the paps tell us otherwise.” jungkook leans back in his leather chair. he looks good like this — hair slicked back neatly with a couple of strands framing his forehead, tie loose around his neck, and sleeves rolled up on his forearms to display his tattoos he’d usually cover in the courtroom.
you and jungkook were from the same cohort in law school. the best students in that year, always neck and neck when it came to your coursework. though, jungkook had one thing that you lacked: charm. he was always able to persuade the judge and jury at the very last minute.
in school, you both learned the three simple rules of persuasion: ethos, pathos, and logos. you liked sticking with the facts — logos. after all, the law is above all and justice is only proven in the court. jungkook, however, played his cards using tactics that swayed hearts. it frustrated you, but it always gave him the upper hand. things haven’t changed much from school now that you were both associates in the top rival law firms in korea.
you continue, “it doesn’t justify the abuse—” “alleged.” jungkook interjects with a smile.
“—he sustained from your client! for all we know, there was no overlap.” you palm your forehead and rub your temples to ease the forthcoming migraine.
jungkook stands up and comes around his desk, “baby.”
jungkook swayed many hearts in the courtroom, but he only had one heart in mind. you were a tough case to crack, but that’s what he loves about you. so headstrong, so smart.
he chased you down after every mock trial to offer a drink after another one of your losses against him. it’s a common practice for law school students — work hard, play harder. like clockwork, you’d hold up a hand to decline respectfully. but after you’d won in an exceptionally hard trial, you finally accepted his offer to drink. that was the turning point for your relationship in the coming years with him.
he corners you against his desk, arms caging your sides as he leans in to kiss your cheek while making his way down your neck. if you were truly upset with him, you wouldn’t have let him near you, let alone touch you like this.
“i’m sorry.” he means it, doesn’t like upsetting you, but he also hates losing big profile cases. he reckons you’re the same given with how you barged into his office. it’s not the first time and his secretary has given up trying to stop you.
“fuck you,” you scowl, to which jungkook answers with a nod against your neck, “keep this shit up and i’m going to postpone the wedding date. also, you’re sleeping on the couch tonight.”
“i’ll make it up to you after the trial, okay?” he kisses up your jaw.
“that’s bribery, jungkook.” you lull your head to the side, too tired to continue this argument with your fiancé.
“all’s fair in love and war.”

One of the most immediately and directly vulnerable populations in the US right now is and will be immigrants without citizenship. Undocumented people in particular, but also anyone in the asylum process or with any kind of fragility to their legal status. We don't know yet how far that "fragility" will extend once Trump takes office: a green card should protect people from deportation but it wouldn't surprise me to see challenges.
The asylum process is one of the very few legal pathways to enter the US or to remain in the US if you are in danger of deportation. However, asylum seekers are not automatically appointed a legal representative. There's no public defender system for this. And without a lawyer people are more likely to face family separation, unnecessary detention, and deportation. This is...a pit of human suffering, frankly, that no one deserves.
If you are looking for ways to help, search around a bit for organizations near you that provide free immigration legal assistance. Here's an example near me: The Legal Project. They also provide free legal assistance with domestic violence, affordable housing, elder abuse, human trafficking, and many other situations where people are trapped for lack of free legal aid.
Even small amounts of money help! They may have clinic days when volunteers without any legal knowledge can still make a big difference. Heck, if you don't know how to find and contact an organization like this near you, I will help you. Contact me and I can at least get you started on the preliminary footwork.
You can also consider helping--with money or volunteer time--organizations that work at the US border. Currently many people approaching the border are summarily turned away without being permitted to apply for asylum. People who are deported may be dropped off without any help finding shelter. My boss is currently volunteering at the border as he does every year, and the reports he sends are pretty rough. (I didn't sign on for out-of-hours texts about moms and little kids being rough-handled and chucked out at the border with nowhere to go! Seriously, dude, I'm going to bed now, there's a time zone difference! But...I also kind of did sign on for this.) I know less about these organizations, but here is an example. They provide life-saving supplies of food and water, they help migrants and deportees find emergency shelter, they provide an on-the-ground witness to what border patrols are doing.

54 days left till sunshine is back. That called for celebration. Here is a 5k words one shot that I wrote based on my dream. Haven't spelled checked it. Incredible fluff, domesticated Hoseok.
You were excited and really couldn’t fall asleep that night. Because tomorrow early in the morning your still new and fresh husband is going to be released from the military and your life together is finally about to start.
You knew each other for a while, dated for a bit but it wasn’t really anything official or intense. You were definitely very much excited about the prospect of seeing Jung Hoseok, him and only him. But before things progressed anywhere near you two being in an established relationship he had to enlist. It was planned and part of the future for the other members and that wasn’t a negotiable.
How did you end up married then before actually dating? He really wanted to see you, he tried really hard to progress the relationship but it was so difficult and he wouldn’t be able to use all of his holidays the way he wanted. He called you a few times, texted a lot and send you pictures every week. It was going on for months. And when he finally managed to see you in person he just sat you down and went into it straight without thinking too much about it and said ‘I know we haven’t been official, i know we haven't done a lot of the things that people do when they date. But once i get out of here there might not be another better time to do this’. He knew the media wouldn’t let him in peace and someone would of leaked the fact that he got married. ‘You mean a lot to me, and i always dated with the idea of dating to marry. So lets just do it. You can move into my flat and make it homey before i actually leave here. I know its a crazy idea but.. just think about it!’. His idea was indeed crazy. So according to him he you were already dating and he just wanted to ensure that your life will be easier, with him as an idol constantly in the spotlight. This was the only way to keep you as a secret whilst having you around and taking things slowly as you both please. Jung Hoseok was the most interesting and loyal person you met. He was so good to you, he treated you with upmost respect from the day you started hanging on more of a personal level. He was really handsome, really sharp features on his face, pointy noise, gorgeous eyes always locked on you and the most gorgeous smile you have ever seen in your entire life. And he was interested in you. HA! He wanted to marry you in secret during his military service and have you move into your future house. You must have been crazy to say yes right?
‘Yes!’ You said after a few minutes of silence and your not really proper consideration.
BTS’s J-Hope Acquires Luxurious $8.6 Million Penthouse in Cash - the next thing you see are this headlines in the news.
‘He did what?’ You think to yourself. ‘He lost his mind!’ As you read another article about how he purchased this very luxurious place. And you couldn’t help but think, that you will indeed be living in that place in few weeks.
He wore his full dress uniform, you wore a very plain but beautiful beige dress, that definitely looked like a wedding dress. It was the right length but without the awkward whiteness you didn't like. It was very official, there was nobody around but him, you and the official in the cities office. The poor man was made to sign an NDA and so were you. And you hesitated, but you did hire a lawyer before it was drafted. So you knew exactly what were you getting yourself into. All of those details took away any romantic atmosphere. Everything but the way he was looking at you. He really wanted this and you couldn’t help but get butterflies every time he looked at you this way.
There was no kiss, no party. You did however share rings and had a cake in a tiny cafe around the corner from the office.
‘I can’t believe we have done this’ you said still in shock, giggling and sipping your coffee through a straw.
‘I promise i make it worth it’ he said lovingly, slightly brushing his hand over yours. The very first sight of his affection that day.
Two weeks later all of your luggage arrived at the exact same luxurious penthouse that Hoseok bought for 8.6 million USD. ‘This is ridiculous’ you said to yourself looking for furniture online. He left you his card, he didn’t expect you to furnish the place especially because it was ridiculously big and as much as you declined his offers to combine your finances you couldn’t afford buying anything for this kind of place. Knowing he will be going live from home, taking so many selfies for his socials. The place needed to be cool. You really like the main room with the huge windows with a view out for skyscrapers in Seoul. You knew exactly what kind of sofa would look good there so you went straight to the search.
But tomorrow. Tomorrow morning is the day he will finally come home. You still had no idea what to expect. He called you regularly, once a week and texted at least once a day after you got married. He often told you what he ate that day and did mention few times that he misses you. But there was still so much ahead of you. You were so excited you really couldn’t sleep, so you ended laying on the sofa you ordered few months ago and lay and look at the huge windows and enjoy the sunrise. But because you haven’t slept, your eyes were getting heavier and heavier from minute to minutes. You knew you could sleep for hours, because you were sure there will be events planned for Hobis discharge, v live at the company, drinks with the members. You will be lucky to see him today. But you were still so so excited. And you gave up to your eyes and finally fell asleep. Covered only half way with a fluffy blanket, with your phone on the floor. It buzzed few times but you were really gone for good.
Card beeped and the door unlocked. Heavy boots slowly tapping on the wooden floor. Red baseball cap on his head, full uniform, huge backpack that he left by the door. He went into all of the rooms partially admiring the furniture he saw from the pictures you have sent him. But he was definitely looking for you. And then, he finally found you on the fluffy sofa in front of the gorgeous view. Sound asleep.
He couldn’t help but smile. He slowly made his way to the sofa, covered you more with the blanket and sat by you legs. Admired you for a minute, with a wide smile on his face. He couldn’t believe you waited. He leaned forward, sniffing the sweet scent you had about you, and slightly moved your hair to the side to place a warm kiss on your forehead.
You moved. Your legs slightly felt resistance and you opened your eyes. And there he was. Right above you, caught red handed with a huge smile on his face, still holding your hair to the side. You froze.
‘I’m finally home!’ he whispered and your mouth slightly opened. Your eyes got bigger as you realised how close he was.
‘Hoseok I didn’t expect you so early! What happened?!’ You managed to put together a sentence still in shock, as he hasn’t moved an inch. He didn’t respond, but widened his smile and started softly brushing your cheek with the back of his palm. ‘I thought you had an entire schedule for today! You need to let Armys know! The members need to see you too!’ You continued but he chuckled starting at you lovingly.
‘I needed to see my wife first. She always comes first, even before the members and armys’ he answered and grabbed your hand and closed in his two.
‘I’m hardly your wife Hobi. We still have so much to…’ he didn’t let you finish your sentence, as he pulled you to himself and kissed your lips very softly. You accepted the invitation, as much as in shock you were you were daydreaming of kissing him since the day you saw him in the office in his full dress uniform. Nah. Since the day he asked you to marry him, when be wouldn’t stop explaining his great idea. And he was finally home. Musky scent mixed with sandalwood of his perfume lingered around him, as the kiss progressed further and he was now exploring your throat with his tongue. As he kept pulling you closer to him, you ended up getting up slightly and crawling onto his lap, without breaking the kiss. He grabbed your ass and sat you closer as he aggressively attacked your lip and bit it so much it broke and started bleeding. You hissed but didn’t stop kissing him back and exploring his back with your hands.
When you finally broke the kiss, he sat back on the sofa and sighed loudly.
‘I was having dreams about this’ he admitted, softly touching your bleeding lip with the tip of his finger.
‘You did and forgot to inform your wife about it? I could have been more prepared’ you giggled, leaning forward a little bit more relaxed and placing a kiss on his cheek ‘Welcome home husband’ you pouted into his face and chuckled afterwards.
‘My wife sounded really innocent and cutesy over the phone, she was really shy and I didn’t expect her to sit on my lap the second i walk through the door’ he pointed out as he looked at you again and he froze. His eyes were glistening as he stared so deep into your eyes almost like he was staring into your soul. And he was smiling. It was the warmest smile you have seen. And it was now all yours.
‘So about the schedule..’ you muttered under your breathe not really knowing what will happen next. You were a little anxious as now he will be in your space a lot of more, or rather you in his. You knew you would have to be more careful now around media and leaving the place with caution.
‘I’m going to Hybe later. I need to do the vlive like Seokjin hyung did. And I know I didn’t discuss it with you yet but I have invited everyone here in the evening’ he looked a little bit nervous, but you didn't have any plans and the place was in a presentable state, so there was no objections for this to not happen.
‘Of course, that sounds like a great plan! I will stay at my friends tonight then..’ you smiled hearing the plans for today. You reached for your phone that was still on the floor instinctively but he stopped you grabbing your wrist and bringing you back to his face.
‘Why? You live here, we live here. There is absolutely no need for you to leave when the guys arrive. Besides they need to finally meet you’ he added holding both your hands in his. He was just so sweet and considerate and he was providing it to you over and over how serious he is about the two of you.
‘But I thought we, and I have to be kept a secret’ you hesitated.
‘Not from the members jagiya. I trust them with my life’ he chuckled at your words and patter your head lovingly.
‘I will follow your lead’ you smiled and fell on his chest. You weren’t sure were all this confidence came from but you really just felt at home for a second so you didn’t overthink it and just acted on it. He wrapped his arms around you and pulled you closer to him.
‘I really did miss you. I was really excited for this. And… I am really grateful that you waited. I certainly don’t deserve to be waited on for this long, not even mentioning the marriage…’ he whispered into your ear, whilst slowly glowing through your hair as he kept you in his embrace.
‘You are special’ you answered into his chest loud enough for him to hear. His perfect fresh scent kept lingering around you as you were holding onto him. His heartbeat was crazy, but the longer you layd on his chest the calmer it became.
‘Right sunshine, I need to take a shower and change my undershirt before I head out again’ he slowly pulled you up and you swiftly moved away to make room for him and he got up from the sofa. ‘The place looks better than on face-time and the pictures you have sent me’ he added looking around with a little bit levelled head.
‘I kept space for the pieces I told you I wanted you to pick, but it doesn’t look too empty without them for now’ you eagerly added as you got up from the sofa and you grabbed your phone and slid it into your sweatpants pocket. He picked up his backpack and started unpacking few bits, clearly looking for something through the pouches inside.
‘Lost something?’ You giggled invested into his search.
‘Just shower gel and shampoo and..’ you stopped him and grabbed his wrist.
‘Put it down’ you instructed pointing at the backpack and he did. Then very intrigued looked where were you leading him. And you lead him through the dining room and a hallway to the master bedroom and then left to the bathroom. ‘Everything is ready here in your room and your bathroom’ you pointed at shelf in tiles, fresh towels ready to be used and a cloth for his skincare. He smiled widely and he felt really warm inside. You really did prepare it for him and waited for him. He felt so lucky. But then he realised and dwelled on your words. He also noticed the bed was spotless and clearly unused.
‘Thank you, this… this is perfect but hold on a minute. My room? My bathroom? Where do you think you are staying?’ He got a little bit nervous, because he didn’t want to pressure you and wanted you to be comfortable but at the same time he was really excited to explore all the unexplored with you.
‘I slept in the guest room for the past few months. Its your house Hoseok.. i cant just, put myself everywhere like…’ you didn’t finish because you saw his expression change to slightly less happy and more disappointed ‘Besides, i will still be around. We promised to take things slow and as they feel fit and natural. And up until before 5 minutes ago we never even kissed..’ you continued and became nervous. You weren’t rejecting him but it was only natural to not skip steps and get comfortable around each other. His expression changed again to more pouty.
‘I understand and thats okay. But i cant promise i wont wander into your room and bed to get some cuddle time’ he pouted and started walking towards you.
‘Thats fine’ you chuckled but you stopped him few steps before he reached you ‘besides its nice to get ready in my own bathroom. Which speaking of you need to shower and get ready. You cant be late the first day back because of me. I will already think im no good for you’ you added and slowly pushed him towards the main bathroom.
‘Aiiishhh fine. I will still have a minute when im done. But before that…’ he grabbed you and pulled you into the bathroom and stood in front of a huge mirror that was covering one of the entire walls. He pulled his phone out of his pocket and grabbed you from behind ‘Say kimchiiii’ he giggled as he pointed the camera to the mirror whilst holding you with his other arm. You grabbed his arm and smile wide looking straight at the camera. When he clicked the picture you let go and turned around.
‘What was that?! Dont you think this is a little bit dangerous? What if you post it by accident..’ you pouted at him at the same time trying to see if the picture came out nicely.
‘I wont have an accident like that, besides i still want to have all the first memories with you documented. We are married after all..’ he chuckled, left a quick kiss at your cheek and let you go. Your heart flustered. You loved it. Every minute of this and the way he was and the way his lips tasted. The way he grabbed you with his strong arms, how soft he was around you and how genuinely happy he seemed.
You were nervous. Of course you worked with several idols before, ha you were now married to one but it was still really stressing you out to meet the 6 men who were the entire world to your husband. You wanted them to like you, you wanted them to be impressed with you, you wanted them to be happy for Hoseok. But none of them even had been in a official relationship, not even mentioning marriage. You straightened your shirt and french tucked it into your jeans.
‘Please dont worry, you have nothing to stress about’ he whispered into your ear as he stood behind you in your room seeing you play with the shirt for a while. Somehow he felt it. Somehow he knew you were stressed and he came to comfort you.
You didn’t answer but you reached for his hand and you squeezed it. You quickly let go of it as the door bell rang. You took a deep breath and swiftly followed Hoseok to the door. Three tall men with buzz cuts stood In front of the door.
‘Taehyungie, Jiminaahhh, Jungkooksieee come in please’ Hobi the host. They bowed in front of him and moved towards the hallway were you were standing.
‘Hoseok hyung… there is a woman here’ Jungkook turned his face to Hobi and froze for a second.
‘Yes. There is. Now stop acting like you have never seen one’ Hoseok chuckled and kind of scolded him for making things ever so slightly more awkward.
‘Ah, really nice to meet you’ Taehyung bowed and shook your hand. He never questioned anything and just accepted things as they were.
Jimin followed and also introduced himself and followed Taehyung into the room. Jungkook still half frozen just took his shoes off.
‘But hyung! Who is this’ this man had zero filter on this night.
‘I will explain everything when everyone arrives, i dont want to repeat myself’ he pushed him slightly towards the room others already gathered. Hoseok moved towards you and brushed your hand with his and whispered ‘I promise it will be okay’ and he lead you towards the room, holding onto your shoulder. Before you reached the dinning room the door went again. You looked at Hobi worrying but he nodded and you went into the dinning area whilst he took the door. Luckily it was the other three so no more trips to the door anymore. As you reached the room you heard Jungkook hassling Jimin ‘But why would Hyung do something like this’ and as you walked in they both stopped. You smiled politely and started looking for glasses for the table. Occupied with that task Hoseok walked into the room with Namjoon, Seokjin and Yoongi.
‘Oh! Whos this?’ Seokjin also didnt stop himself from a free comment.
‘Right everyone, lets get it out of the way before we get all into gossips’ Hoseok started and grabbed you closer. ‘We got married, six months ago. I wanted to do it when we are almost all still enlisted because i knew it would be bad if we decided later’ he just spit it all. Jungkooks jaw dropped. Yoongi started laughing quietly but he was the first to congratulate you.
‘Its just unexpected Hoseok, but we are happy for you. We all knew you will be first in these things anyway’ Yoongi smiled at the both of you and pulled his hand out to shake Hobis hand.
‘Ya, thats crazy. Hoseok you could of told us before…’ Seokjin came to hug Hobi and smiled at you politely.
‘We didnt really date for that long, so please dont drill or ask her any silly things. It was the best decision in the perspective of time and PR’ Hobi continued as he saw Jungkook still completely freaked out.
‘Hoba, im really happy for you. Looks like double celebration today!’ Namjoon hugged your husband and sat back down. Jimin and Taehyung holding hands under the table giggled but both also clapped their hands in approval. It was just Jungkook.
‘Hyung… I dont understand. I really thought you would be honest with me when I asked you who you were texting every time I saw you. Its not like we couldn’t keep your secret!’ He was just a little bit hurt and Hoseok hyung had a special place in his heart ‘im happy for you Hyung’ he huffed out and sat back still shaking his head in disbelief.
‘He wanted to tell you but I asked him not too. You see i didn’t even think we were dating when he thought we were. We saw each other quite a lot but it wasn’t ever on any of crazy serious terms, I had no idea I was even able to stick around until today.. please dont be upset with him’ you decided to tell the boys the truth, because at the end of the day it wasn’t Hoseoks fault this was kept in secret. The boys nodded and some of the awkwardness went away because Jimin was rocking on his chair back and forth and eventually hell from it. Everyone started laughing but you panically ran to him and asked if he’s fine.
‘This happens all the time, please dont bother yourself with worry. He has some unexplained beef with chairs’ Namjoon pointed out whilst Seokjin was nearly brought to tears with laugh. The evening went uneventful after that, Hoseok brought some alcohol from the pantry, a stack of food was ordered and delivered and devoured within few hours. Everyone explained how jealous they are of Hobi being finally free and Jin was excited to have his partner in crime back. They reminisced old times, concerts and events they really missed and as the night went by you were more involved in the conversations that you ever expected. Everyone was really sweet and kind and as Hobi promised, there was nothing to worry about. You saw he was getting progressively more red on his face as he drunk and because of that progressively more quiet but it gave you the chance to get to know the other members a little more. You weren’t star struck anymore, because they were just so normal and down to earth.
You were taking your make up off in your bathroom in the opposite side of the apartment. It was a long day, very exciting day but also very tiring because of all the emotions that you had to go through. You felt a little bit dizzy, every time you were reminded that Hoseok is indeed currently cleaning up from the table. All the little noises coming from the room made you chuckle as be was drunk and swearing to himself and to the dishes he was trying to put away. You continued with your routine to the sounds of the dishes when then all of a sudden they stopped. Complete silence surrounded you. And then you saw his face poke at your bathrooms door.
‘Hey’ he said smiling widely and staring you in the eyes through the mirror that you were using.
‘Hey’ you answer and smiled back at him. He took another step into the bathroom.
‘I cant believe you’re here and I’m home and i dont ever have to go back there…’ he started, heading towards you. You put your cream down and turned around to face him. ‘You know I really care.. you know I was really looking to getting all the steps done with you..’ he was drunk and his words were slightly slurring but he was incredibly sweet. From that sweet face however it soon changed into a cheeky expression and you thought to yourself maybe… but then you remembered he was drunk and thats not how you wanted the both of you to remember.
‘Hoseok you're tipsy’ you muttered lovingly towards him, severely downplaying the state he was in.
‘Just a little bit. At least I won’t be as shy..’ so he is shy. So you do make him nervous. Your eyes widened for a second. You were definitely thinking of checking out what is under that uniform. Realistically you did half know. There is no escape from the online world and you came across some of the half shirtless or shirtless pictures of him. But they were from years before and you expect for him to look different. Hes older, hes been through a active military service. And took one step closer to you and you gulped out loud. He noticed and immediately froze.
‘Its okay, im sorry I..’ he grabbed the back of his head and brushed through his really short hair.
‘Its okay, how about we stay in your room today?’ You asked and leaned over and grab his hand. It was a sweet move, it wasn’t suggestive at all and all you planned to do is maybe make out for a bit and go to sleep cuddled to him.
‘I thought you didn’t want to.. you know?’ He got all flustered which was incredibly sweet especially as he was so drunk.
‘Lets take it easy’ you turned the lights off in the bathroom and lead him out of your bathroom and bedroom across the hallway and dinning room to the master bedroom ‘Cuddles only! But first, get ready for bed’ you pointed at his bathroom and he nodded and followed your order. You made yourself comfortable in bed, untucked the fresh sheets and slipped inside. It felt so nice to be finally in bed. You heard him drop few things but eventually he turned the light off and emerged from the room. He run to the other side of the bed skipping from excitement. He untucked his side of the sheets and slipped inside. Instantly turned around to you, moved closer to you so now both of your faces layed on the same pillow. And every time he was so close to you, you felt this electric tease when your eyes locked. Your stomach would flip. You were absolutely obsessed with him. And it was only day one of your new life. He moved himself even closer to you, and you didn’t decline. He wrapped his arms around you, slowly dragged your body closer to his.
‘Im finally home’ he whispered and placed a kiss on the tip of your nose. You twitched slightly under his touch and smiled. He softly moved to your lips and started kissing you. Your brain went numb, your stomach flipped again and the butterflies started. His lips were so much softer now, his tongue so tempting trying to break into your mouth. But you let him. You got closer to him, he wrapped himself even more around you and you get kissing and the passion started growing in between the two of you, until one of you broke the kiss and cooled the atmosphere off. He turned you around and his body stuck to you. And because he was still slightly drunk and tired after an entire day of chaos, he stuck his nose behind your ear and whispered 'Goodnight Jagiya' and he closed his eyes. Both of you fell asleep, tangled together for the very first time.
***
Its been a month, exactly a month since he came home. 17th of November. The air has gotten really cool, there was occasional snow but never really lasted for good. It was the evening and you were walking down the road, towards a near by park with your not so new anymore - husband. You weren’t holding hands, because it was already risky to be outside together like that but it was really, really late and it seemed like the perfect weather for a walk. You could never shut up. Both of you. You absolutely adored each other and everyday whether it was on the phone or in person, at home would debrief about your day and what have you been up to and sometimes even shared pictures of what interested you or when either of you something interesting to discuss with one another. Your relationship remained a secret and you were both really happy about it. There was only one rule. Every time when Hobi came home, he was obligated to keep his ring on. Because he couldn’t really wear it outside even for the walk, it was too risky. But at home, at both of your sanctuary it was a very important part of his routine of coming home.
‘I can’t believe it has already been a month since I got discharged’ Hobi said to you, slowly walking by your side.
‘I know! It has been so crazy, but I haven’t regretted anything. Every since we met, ever since we got married. Even the wait, it was all worth it’ you smiled at him and you focused your eyes on him. It was a really good time to confess but you were really nervous, so you just kept putting it off.
‘Thank you for waiting for me. And for the faith you put into our very early on relationship that I feel has bloomed into something really beautiful’ he couldn’t stop smiling and giggling. He was so relieved and happy and finally felt like home.
You decided you won’t confess this time around and the two of you wondered around the park for a little longer and finally made your way back home.
You still haven’t done the deed, but every time the both of you went to sleep next to each other, you both wondered to make a move. Today however, coming home from that walk some kind of heavy, humid steamy atmosphere built up in the lift. You had your back to one side of the wall and he stood and was staring at your through the lifts mirror. When it finally made it to your floor and the door made a very specific sound, both of you rushed out of it towards your apartments door. Both just occasionally checking on each other. And when the door finally slammed behind you and both of you were safe at home, it all turned into chaos. His lips on yours, your lips on his neck, his hands undoing your bra under layers of clothes, your hand tangled into his slightly longer now hair. Both of you grasping air in between the passionate kissing and then it just slipped. Just like that.
‘God, I love you so much’ you moaned into his face. Hoseok froze. He didn’t move, he stopped his hands were they were at the time, he opened his eyes and locked them with yours. Both of you still heavily breathing, just staring at each other.
‘Come here, let me show you how much I love you’ he smirked back at you and picked you up bridal style, continued to aggressively kiss your lips whilst he made his way to your homes master bedroom, he shut the door behind the both of you and whispered to you ‘We won’t be leaving here for a while’.

Episode 1: Female Sleuths & Self-Defense
"Hello, Pythians. It's been a while. Today we'll be discussing some sensitive subject matter. This includes but is not limited to domestic violence, child abuse, grooming, and murder," Barbara's tone allowed a hint of personal sadness. Her voice was subtly disguised with a Mid-Atlantic accent. Her voice was mature and robust, but there was something sweet and feminine about her cadence. The lilt in her voice was unlike her natural speech, but it added to the bit, along with voice-altering software. Oracle was a character, and she had to stay that way. She took a breath to collect herself. "Today, I have a special guest. She is loud and proud... And she is fighting to elevate the voices of domestic violence survivors during Gotham's lockdown. Miss Dinah Lance. Dinah, can you take a moment to tell us about yourself and your organization?" Barbara leaned back away from the mic as she put Dinah on speaker.
"Hi, Oracle. Well, as you said, I'm Dinah Lance. I've been in Gotham most of my life, and this organization is near and dear to my heart. Black Canary is my mother's non-profit organization dedicated to survivors of domestic violence. It goes back to before I was born.
"My mother lived in a community filled with women in violent and unstable relationships. She quickly realized that most of these women didn't have the tools they needed to escape, let alone protect themselves. So, she took it upon herself to secretly offer free self-defense classes in her apartment. My mother knew this wasn't enough, but it was all she could do at the time.
"Fast forward a few years. My mother married my father and got pregnant with me, and she had to take a break from offering classes. To her surprise, her neighbors took over for her. They went on to teach their friends everything they learned. Eventually, this led to a connection with lawyers, doctors, and childcare workers... And from there, my mom founded the Black Canaries.
"I was fortunate to grow up with two loving and supportive parents, and I took it upon myself as soon as I was old enough to continue what my mother started. Since then, we've expanded to all victims of domestic violence. Not just women," Dinah replied. She was obviously passionate about her cause.
Barbara made a soft noise to acknowledge all she'd heard. "I wanted to take this time to tell the listeners your organization now operates online. I left a link in the description... But I also wanted to ask about a specific case that's gained traction in the media. I understand that you've taken a personal interest in the Anna Stanfield case... You've also expressed discomfort with the long-time trend of giving murder cases nicknames," Barbara paused, "After a message from our sponsors, we'll talk about that and how this case is different from anything the Black Canaries have dealt with this far." Barbara played an ad for Ted Kord's tech company.
During that time, Barbara took the opportunity to quietly thank Dinah for the interview. "I appreciate you coming on the show, Dinah. I wanted to ask you personally if you'd like to come back to talk next month for Mother's Day?" Barbara asked.
"I would love to," Dinah replied, "And thank you for allowing me the opportunity to talk about Anna Stanfield."
Barbara smiled to herself. "Of course. It's always a joy to have you on the show," Barbara replied, "We're back on air in five... Four... Three... Two... Welcome back, Pythians. Before the break, I asked Dinah how the Black Canaries have taken an interest in the Anna Stanfield case and her critique of the media buzz surrounding this cruel Gotham slaying."
"Right. For everyone unfamiliar with the case, Anna Stanfield was an eighteen-year-old girl from Gotham. Last month, she got married to a man seven years her senior, and at some point on the first night of her honeymoon, she was brutally beaten and ultimately smothered to death.
"The media's taken this as an opportunity to talk about the lack of knowledge about her past. Instead of putting forth the efforts and energy to spread information about the case, they've focused on dissecting this girl's life to blame her for her murder. Her husband, Eddie Stanfield, is seemingly missing and has been since the discovery of Anna's body. Few efforts are being made to find him despite his history of violence toward women... And instead of being treated like a suspect, they are searching for Eddie Stanfield as a potential victim... Despite all evidence pointing to the contrary.
"What makes this case different from anything the Black Canaries have ever dealt with is the type of case that this is. Black Canaries deals with survivors. This is the first time we've ever dealt with a murder case. We're all working to find Eddie Stanfield and bring him to justice, and there's a lot I can't say legally... But I can say that we've got a few leads we're checking out," Dinah explained.
"I know you said you can't talk about the investigation for legal reasons, so I wanted to hear what you had to say about the nicknaming of the Anna Stanfield case as the Honeymoon Murder," Barbara replied.
Dinah took a breath before speaking. "With all the media buzz for the case, people have forgotten that Anna was a living, breathing person. People view this case as a form of entertainment rather than an actual murder of a real human being.
"The media's done a terrible job of depicting Anna's humanity. They've instead chosen to sensationalize her murder and reduce the brutal slaying of a teenage girl to nothing more than a series of puns and online memes," Dinah answered.
The two went back and forth, discussing the details of the case before their second set of commercials. "When we return from break, I'll introduce you to one of Gotham's best P.I.'s," Barbara announced.
The second set of commercials was three minutes long, allowing the two women to talk. "I hope I'm not talking too much. I don't wanna overwhelm-."
"You're doing fine, Dinah. Actually, I wanted to ask how you were doing? I've been following your work for a while now, and I saw that you've received threats-. Sorry, I sound like I'm still interviewing you. I wanted to know if you were okay," Barbara interrupted.
"It's okay... I've had worse. A few threats aren't going to scare me away from the truth," Dinah replied. Barbara pushed up her glasses and ran a hand through her hair. "Hell, if I wasn't mistaken, I'd think you were worried about me."
"I am," Barbara replied, "You know, Dinah... Let me know if there's anything I can do to help." Dinah made a soft noise.
"Keep an eye out for Eddie Stanfield... And boost my tip line," Dinah replied. Barbara could hear the smile in her voice. Barbara bit the cap of her pen before typing the tipline number and adding it to the description for the video. "You know what? I feel like I know you."
Barbara held her breath for a moment. "I make a point to get to know everyone I interview... Even if it's through research," Barbara half-lied. She didn't want Dinah to know they'd met before. Barbara's podcast identity needed to remain secret, not only for the safety of her daughters. The work she did in connection with her podcast was borderline illegal.
"It was so wonderful having you on the show, Dinah. I hope to hear from you in the future... I know you have to go, but I did enjoy speaking to you today," Barbara beamed. She chewed the cap of her pen as she waited to hear Dinah's voice.
"It was nice talking to you, Oracle... I'll keep you updated on the case," Dinah replied before hanging up.
She tossed her head back and ran both hands through her hair before calling another woman. "Hello? May I call you Question?" Barbara asked.
"Only if I can call you Oracle," Question joked. Barbara recognized the voice as ex-police officer Renee Montoya. She didn't see fit to mention it, though. Barbara chuckled.
"Of course, you can. We're about to go on air in a minute or two, and I want to let you know you don't have to answer any question you don't want to," Barbara reassured her.
"Let's get into it," Renee replied enthusiastically.
"Okay. We're back on air in five... Four... Three... Two... One. Welcome back. Before the break, I promised to introduce you to Gotham's finest private investigator, the illustrious and anonymous, Question. Question, would you like to take some time to enlighten the viewers on your connection to the Anna Stanfield case?" Barbara asked.
"Someone hired me to find and notify her family... A friend of Anna Stanfield who wanted to remain anonymous," Renee replied, "The issue is, Anna Stanfield doesn't exist. Or at least she didn't, up until a few months ago... But that made me wonder how Eddie Stanfield came to know her. She's an eighteen-year-old girl with no past, no known family, and no history... Not so much as a report card from her."
"It sounds as if you have some suspicions about the crime. Can you elaborate at this time?" Barbara asked.
"I've found some important information that's led me to a family within the city, but I'm not at liberty to say. The police have been notified. But I can tell you, I have reason to believe Eddie Stanfield is guilty of a series of violent crimes against Anna... And I'm not talking about her murder," Renee replied. Barbara took her pen and jotted down a note.
Silence fell between the two for a moment. "Are you-. Sorry, that's such a shock. I wanted to know if you were working with the Black Canaries or anyone else to get information on this case?" Barbara asked, stumbling over her words out of shock. She didn't think anyone would have any new information like this.
"Yeah, I've talked to Dinah before finding what I found... I told her I'd look into finding Eddie," Renee paused, "And I've gotten a bit of information from her as well."
"Can you tell us if that information led you to your most recent revelation?" Barbara questioned.
"Yes, actually, she did. Dinah personally went and found information of her own that led me directly to a series of truths that led to this mystery family," Renee replied, "We're not sure if they're her family for sure. We only know interesting circumstances surrounding them point to this case."
Barbara typed something on her computer while she listened to Renee speak. Barbara mulled over the details mentioned by both women and wondered if she should delay posting the episode another week. As it came to a close, Barbara pushed up her glasses and started the editing process.

NRK: Høiby arrested again – charged with rape
Marius Borg Høiby was arrested again yesterday, the police said in a press release. The charges against him have also been expanded. He is now also charged with rape of a new victim.
Høiby was arrested by the police at 23:12 on Monday evening in a car together with the victim from the Frogner incident, the police wrote in a press release.
According to NRK, he was arrested in a car near Skaugum. The police write that they have conducted a search and seized the scene.
Høiby is now in the central detention centre at Grønland in Oslo.
It is not known how he will respond to the charges.
Five victims
The charge concerns sexual intercourse with someone who is unconscious or for other reasons unable to resist the act.
– It applies to sexual intercourse without intercourse. The victim must have been unable to resist the act, writes police attorney Andreas Kruszewski in the Oslo Police District.
This woman is not among the previous victims. The accusation stems from a relationship in Oslo, NRK learns.
An investigation into the relationship was decided on 6 November 2024, the police say.
There are now a total of five victims, four women and one man, in the cases in which Høiby is charged.
– She's having a tough time.
The lawyer for the new victim tells NRK that the client has been questioned.
– She is having a tough time, and it is heavy. She is not the one who reported the incident, it was the police who opened a case, says lawyer Hege Salomon to NRK.
Salomon states that the victim is a woman in her 20s.
– She has not sought out the public eye. She did not know the accused or the other victims in this case prior to the incident mentioned in the press release. And she wants to be protected, she says.
Regarding the investigation, Salomon will not go into further detail about when and where the incident occurred.
- We do not go far back in time, but it is a bit back in time. I can say that there was an incident that happened this year, she says.
The police security service, which is responsible for the Royal Family's bodyguard service, says they are aware of the matter.
– PST is aware of the arrest. Beyond that, we have no comment, says Eirik Veum of PST to NRK.
NRK has attempted to contact Høiby's defense attorney Øyvind Bratlien, but has not received a response. The Palace would rather not comment on the new arrest.
– We ask for your understanding that we cannot comment on the matter. We refer you to the police and Marius Borg Høiby's lawyer, writes communications manager Guri Varpe at the Palace in an email to NTB.
Excerpts from a continuously updating article by NRK. First version of the article was published on Nov. 19, 2024, at 07:53. Translation and slight editing for clarity by me.
Just to recap, these are the different charges against Marius (copied from NRK):
Frogner woman: Ex-girlfriend of Høiby. Høiby is charged with domestic abuse, violence, damage, reckless behaviour, and violation of a restraining order against her. The violent incident occurred on August 3rd of this year in Frogner. She was in a car with Høiby when he was re-arrested on November 18.
Nora Haukland: Girlfriend with Høiby from summer 2022 to 2023. Høiby is charged with domestic abuse against her.
Juliane Snekkestad: Girlfriend with Høiby from 2018 to 2022. Høiby is charged with domestic abuse against her.
Woman in her 20s: Høiby is charged with rape without intercourse against the woman. She did not know Høiby before she met him that day. The incident occurred earlier in 2024. An investigation into the matter was decided on November 6, 2024.
Man in his 20s: Høiby is charged with threatening to kill the man in his 20s. The threats were made in a phone call and a message on Instagram. The man has moved abroad.

It isn't an exaggeration to say that political correctness costs lives. Whether it is the UK police, councils and social services refusing to investigate grooming gangs for decades to avoid accusations of racism, or gender critical women being fired from their jobs and arrested across several countries under ‘hate speech’ laws, which then impacts their ability to earn an income to support their children…
Or it is victims of crimes having to worry that, if they tell the police about what happened to them, they will be arrested for wrongthink themselves.
It is common for police to seize a crime victim's personal devices (or rather, *strongly* coerce them into handing them over), even in instances where the crime was not captured on the devices. The justification given is that, in court, the victim's character can be vouched for by evidencing their clean devices.
Many of us, myself included, have expressed beliefs that fall outside of the establishment's. Maybe you've been open about not believing in gender ideology, or disliking Islam, or not taking a vaccine and that got you labelled as a ‘conspiracy theorist’. These are all things that can be used against you, even when you are the victim, in employment, education and police contexts.
I wonder how many victims of domestic and sexual abuse have had to ask themselves ‘what have I shared with my abuser that his lawyers could use to assassinate my character with in court?’ We know this already happens with women’s intimate experiences, traumas and mental health challenges. Why not their ‘controversial’ opinions too?
I wonder how many women out there have fallen victim to a serious crime, wanted to see the perpetrator face justice, but have first had to ask themselves, ‘if I go to the police, what if they go through my phone and use the things on there against me?’
If you live in the UK, and you've got a gender critical Twitter account, it could happen. Women have been arrested for putting up TERF stickers. Source. If you have any views that get coded ‘right wing’, it could happen. A man was just sentenced to 2 years in prison for anti-immigration and anti-Islam stickers. Source. If you’ve ever posted lyrics to your Instagram story which contained the n word, it could happen (yep. A 19 year old autistic girl from Liverpool was convicted for posting lyrics to her private insta. Source). If you have any edgy memes in your photo album, it could happen. If you’ve ever called your friend the r word as a joke in a group chat, it could happen.
This is part of the reason I never reported my rape. I didn’t want some of my old right wing beliefs to be used against me in court. If I ever do report a crime that I’ve been a victim of, the first thing I’ll do is deactivate all my social media accounts before the cops arrive – and I would recommend others to do the same. Because that is where we are now in this political climate. Trial by mob, the woke mob specifically.
Just thought I’d bring this topic up because I suspect this will become more common in the near future – victims either not reporting to the police for fear of being targeted for wrongthink, or reporting and then being targeted as a result. I hope I’m wrong about this. I just wonder, women are already blamed if we were drunk, promiscuous, or naive. So why not politically incorrect as well?

As she and Matt get to know each other and grow closer, will someone from Reader's past tear their happiness apart?
Warnings/Tags: Angst with a Happy Ending, Attempted Sexual Assault, Past Domestic Violence, Stalking, Kidnapping (Y'all, seriously, please mind the tags)
Word Count: ~31k
A/N: This is Chapter 1 of Salvation, but retold from Matt's perspective.
I know he's got to be around here somewhere, Matt thought as he perched on the rooftops above the streets of Hell's Kitchen. He had been tracking a serial rapist and had heard that the guy frequented this area looking for victims.
He had just about given up and gone home for the night when he heard a woman scream nearby.
Matt quickly made his way to the alleyway that the noise had come from, dropping down behind the assailant and pulling him off of his would-be victim.
Matt quickly subdued the attacker and had just turned to check on the victim when he heard the distinct sound of metal scraping against the pavement. A knife.
He heard the woman gasp and back herself against the wall, her heart hammering in her chest. Probably thinks I'm going to attack her next.
Matt crouched down near her and raised his hands to show her that he meant no harm. "It's okay. That guy won't be bothering you anymore."
"Did you kill him ?" the woman asked incredulously.
Matt shook his head. "No, he's just unconscious. The police will pick him up soon. He's already wanted in three other attacks."
He started to lower his hands. The police would be showing up soon so he needed to leave, once he made sure the victim was okay, of course. "I'm not gonna hurt you, I promise. Now, can you put the knife down for me?"
He breathed a mental sigh of relief when the woman slowly lowered the knife to the ground.
Matt reached for her in order to help her up. "Come on, I've got to get you to a hospital."
The woman gasped, a hand flying to her side. "No, no hospitals," she huffed out in pain. "He'll find me, I can't let him find me."
Matt briefly turned his head back towards the assailant, making sure he was still unconscious. Did she know him? Had he been following her? " Who 'll find you? The guy who attacked you tonight?"
The woman shook her head. "No, not him. I can't though. Please, no."
"Okay, okay, no hospital," Matt agreed, trying to calm her. "But who can't you let find you? Who are you hiding from?"
Suddenly the woman passed out in Matt's arms.
Shit. Matt quickly assessed the woman, not detecting any blood loss aside from a few minor cuts and scrapes, then winced when he felt a large bump on the back of her head. He certainly couldn't leave her there, especially if her assailant regained consciousness before the cops arrived. Plus he had promised her that he wouldn't take her to a hospital… What the hell am I supposed to do?
Clearly there was only one option. Luckily I'm not far from home.
Matt sighed and carefully gathered the unconscious woman in his arms, stopping to pick up her purse lying nearby before carrying her to his apartment. He deposited her on his sofa, then placed the purse on his kitchen island before changing out of his Daredevil suit and taking a quick shower.
He briefly towel-dried his hair then called Foggy while he gathered medical supplies in order to treat the woman's wounds.
"Yo, Matty, what's up?" Foggy said in greeting.
"There's an unconscious woman in my apartment," Matt replied.
"One night stand fell asleep on you and you need help getting rid of her, huh? Okay, so here's the plan--"
Matt shook his head. "No, no, nothing like that. I was tracking down that serial rapist that's been attacking women this past week and caught him assaulting another victim, and when I went to help her up she passed out on me."
"So why didn't you just bring her to the hospital?"
"I was going to, but before she passed out she begged me not to bring her to the hospital, and she seemed so genuinely panicked about it that I agreed."
Foggy huffed out a laugh. "Saint Matthew, patron saint of helpless women."
Matt chuckled. "I'm no saint, Fog. You of all people should know that."
"Oh, I'm not too sure about that, buddy. You know you can't resist helping a damsel in distress."
Matt heard a sudden gasp coming from his living room followed by a soft cry of pain. "I gotta go, she's awake."
"Okay, call me tomorrow and let me know how things go."
"Will do. Thanks, Fog."
Matt hung up the phone and gathered up his supplies, pausing to put his glasses back on before heading out of the bathroom towards the living room. "Oh good, you're awake," he said.
Apparently the woman hadn't yet noticed his presence because she jumped slightly and turned towards him. "Who are you?" she asked quickly. "Where am I? How did I get here?"
Matt didn't want her further injuring herself, so it was imperative that he keep her calm. "It's okay, miss," he replied gently. "I won't hurt you. Do you remember what happened? You took quite a bump on the head in addition to your other injuries."
The woman thought for a moment. "I was walking home, and this man pulled me into an alley and tried to-- but then there was this other man, and he… he saved me."
Matt nodded. No short-term memory loss, that's good. "My name is Matthew Murdock. I'm an acquaintance of the man who helped you. He brought you here to my apartment since you seemed pretty insistent that he not bring you to a hospital."
When the woman didn't immediately reply, he gestured with the medical supplies. "May I?"
The woman let out a long breath, then shifted uncomfortably. "Yeah, okay."
Matt slowly approached her and set the supplies down on the coffee table, arranging them in the likely order he'd need them before sitting down next to them.
He gestured to the woman's side. "I need to make sure your ribs aren't broken before I tend to anything else."
"Okay."
Matt raised the side of her shirt just high enough to expose her ribs. She's already been assaulted once tonight, I don't want to give her a reason to go to the cops for a second assault. "Here, hold this for me."
The woman held her shirt up while Matt gently palpated her ribcage. "Are you a doctor?" she asked.
Matt shook his head. "No, I'm an attorney. I just have lots of experience patching people up. My dad was a boxer, used to come home with different injuries, including the occasional cracked or broken rib. I learned how to diagnose them."
He sat back, satisfied that the woman's injuries weren't too severe. "Okay, so good news and bad news. Good news is that I don't think any of your ribs are broken. Bad news though is that they are bruised, so you might want to take it easy for a few days. You don't want to aggravate them further."
"So a glass of Chardonnay and Epsom salt bath it is, got it." The woman's tone was slightly bitter.
Matt frowned. "You sound like you're pretty used to that type of medical treatment." Is that the reason she didn't want to go to the hospital?
"Just have had my share of sore muscles, that's all."
She's lying. Matt briefly considered pressing the matter but ultimately decided against it, instead opening an alcohol wipe and cleaning a cut on her forehead.
He could feel her staring at him as he opened a bandage and applied some antibiotic ointment to the gauze pad.
Matt knew he was objectively handsome -- his track record in the bedroom and ease of pulling in one-night stands was proof of that -- so he honestly wasn't surprised when the woman's breathing slightly picked up and he began to smell the sweet perfume of her arousal.
He was, however, surprised when she suddenly spoke while he was getting ready to bandage her cut. "Y/N."
Matt froze and tilted his head to the side. "Excuse me?"
"I just realized that I haven't told you my name," the woman clarified. "It's Y/N."
Matt briefly wondered if she was giving him a fake name as he affixed the bandage over her cut and smoothed it down. "Well then, it's nice to meet you, Y/N, although I am sorry that it's under these circumstances." Could she be in witness protection?
He picked up another alcohol wipe and began to clean the cut on Y/N's cheek. "So would you mind telling me why you refused to go to a hospital?"
Y/N was quiet for a few moments then let out a sigh. "Mr. Murdock --"
Matt shook his head. "Matt, please."
"Matt , I… I can't."
Now that Matt was thinking about it Y/N probably wasn't in witness protection, but she was clearly afraid of something… or someone. How can I get her to trust me?
Suddenly he had an idea.
He finished cleaning her cut and affixed a bandage over it. "Do you have any change on you?" he asked. "Penny, quarter, whatever?"
Y/N's heart rate picked up again. "Oh, shit, my purse, I had it in the alley."
Matt was glad he had found it and thought to bring it with him. "It's okay, it's here. Let me get it for you."
He stood and moved over to the kitchen, where Y/N's bag sat on the counter.
He could tell the moment Y/N spotted his white cane propped up against the doorframe and the lightbulb went off in her head. Glad I left it there today instead of folding it up like usual.
Matt retrieved her bag and brought it to her. "I didn't go through it," he said with a smile. "In case you were wondering."
Y/N pulled her wallet out of her purse. "Will a nickel work?" she asked after a few moments.
Matt nodded and held out a hand to take it. "Yeah, that's fine."
"What do you need that for?"
Matt stuck the nickel in his pocket. "That was my retainer. Now everything you tell me is confidential information covered under attorney-client privilege."
He sat down next to Y/N on the sofa. "Now, will you tell me why you insisted on not going to a hospital?"
"I just don't like hospitals?" Y/N's tone was more question than answer.
Matt huffed out a soft chuckle. "You know, part of what makes me such a good attorney is that I can always tell when someone's lying to me, but even if I couldn't I'm not sure I'd have believed you."
"Yeah, I wouldn't have believed me either honestly." Y/N let out a shaky breath. "Ok, well, about 2 years ago I met this guy. He was amazing-- successful, sweet, attentive -- and I immediately fell for him.
"We moved in together after about 6 months together and everything was fine at first, but then my boyfriend lost his job and was having trouble finding another one -- or so he said."
Matt winced. It sounded like Y/N's boyfriend had likely fallen in with the wrong crowd and had gotten into some trouble. Maybe she is in witness protection…
"Anyway, money was tight so we began to have to cut back on a lot of things," Y/N continued. "My boyfriend liked to go to the bar with his buddies so I asked him to stop going out for a while until he found another job and we got caught up on bills."
She let out an unamused chuckle. "He said that I should get a second job instead, because I was spending all of 'our' hard-earned money on 'unnecessary' things -- like, you know, food and rent. I told him that at least I was working and that the very least he could do while he was sitting at home all day was to help around the house some, instead of leaving his shit everywhere and expecting me to pick it up. Well, he didn't really like that… He hit me for the first time that night."
Fuck. Matt was livid. He had no patience for any type of abuse, be it against man, woman, or child. He sucked in a breath and silently counted to ten, trying to remain calm and not give away his anger.
Y/N paused briefly. "He left after that, presumably to go meet his friends -- but he came home later that night and said that he was sorry, swore it would never happen again, said that he loved me and was just stressed out from job hunting, but that one of his friends had a lead on a job that sounded promising and that everything would be okay."
Matt knew where this story was going -- he had had many clients fleeing abusive relationships tell similar tales.
Y/N had been looking at the floor while she spoke but now looked up at Matt. "He eventually did get another job, but he didn't keep it for long. Luckily I had gotten a promotion at work, and with that came enough of a raise to at least keep us afloat. My boyfriend started drinking more and became violent more often than not. He always apologized the next day and would swear that it'd never happen again… until it inevitably did."
Her voice broke. "God, you must think I'm so stupid for believing him, for staying with him for so long..."
Matt sighed, all of his anger draining away at Y/N's broken tone. He shook his head. "No, I don't think you're stupid at all. Abusers will use whatever tactics they can to keep their victims from leaving them -- apologies, gaslighting, manipulation, threats..."
"He said that he would kill me if I ever tried to leave him," Y/N whispered.
"So what happened?"
"One day my boyfriend came home to find me packing for a last-minute work trip and accused me of sleeping with my boss -- who wasn't even going on that trip, by the way, which is why he was sending me in his place. Needless to say, the trip was cancelled altogether because I wound up in the hospital with a broken arm after I 'tripped and fell down the stairs'."
Matt's anger was reignited. He wanted to find the son of a bitch and give him back every beating he had ever given to Y/N tenfold.
Y/N swallowed. "I figured he would eventually kill me either way, so I started doing some extra freelance work on the side in secret and managed to hide enough money to get away without him knowing, and one day while my boyfriend was at the bar I put in my resignation at work and…" Y/N paused. "…I just left.
"I drove for a few days, staying at motels that would accept cash and wouldn't require an ID, then sold my car, ditched my phone number for a prepaid one, and made my way here to New York. My mom's step aunt had left me a brownstone that Colin never knew about and I had never got around to switching the utilities out of her name."
Colin. Matt at least had a first name to work with if he ever wanted to track the piece of shit down.
"I work as a freelance writer and editor under a pseudonym," Y/N added, "only take cash or Paypal as payment, and use a P.O. box in Jersey as my mailing address, so no bank account, no credit cards…" She trailed off.
Matt nodded in understanding. "No paper trail." So that's why no hospital. She didn't want him to be able to trace her to New York.
"Exactly." Y/N was silent for a few moments. "So you said you know the man who rescued me?"
Matt pursed his lips at the sudden change in topic. It didn't seem like Y/N suspected that he was Daredevil, especially after she noticed his cane, but he still had to be careful what he said just in case she did go to the police about her earlier attack and happened to mention him. "In passing," he answered evasively.
"Next time you see him, tell him thank you for me, okay? If he hadn't come along--" Y/N's breath hitched as she began to cry.
Matt fought the urge to wrap his arms around her protectively. She's just been through a trauma, she probably wouldn't want that, especially from a total stranger. He put a gentle hand on her arm instead. "Hey, it's okay… you're okay. You're safe now, I promise."
Y/N sniffled. "I'm sorry, I'm sure the last thing you expected tonight was to have some random stranger crying on your couch."
Matt shook his head with a soft smile. "You're right," he joked. "They're usually crying in my office."
Y/N froze. "Oh my god, that's right, you probably have work tomorrow and I'm keeping you up. I'm so sorry, I should go." She stood and grabbed her purse.
Matt stood as well. "Wait, here, let me at least get you a cab," he offered. "You shouldn't walk home this late, especially in your condition."
"You're right," Y/N replied after a moment. "Thank you, I appreciate it."
Matt walked over to the counter and picked up his phone, pressing the speed-dial button for the Quick Cab Company.
"Quick Cab Co.," the voice on the other end answered in a thick Brooklyn accent. "Where ya going?"
"Jesse, it's Matt Murdock. Is Jake working tonight? I have someone at my apartment that I need to make sure gets home safely."
"Yeah, Jake actually happens to be near the Kitchen dropping off another fare. I'll send him over."
"Great, thanks."
"No problem."
Matt hung up. "A cab will be here in a few minutes. And one more thing…" He moved over to his coat rack and grabbed his coat. "I can probably safely assume that your clothes are in questionable condition, so you might want to wear this over them so your cab driver doesn't ask questions."
While that was true, Matt also hoped that he would be able to see Y/N again if and when she returned his coat to him.
Y/N nodded. "Thank you."
Matt cocked his head as the sound of Jake's taxi grew closer. "The cab is a couple of blocks away. You should head down now."
"Oh, okay." Y/N put Matt's coat on. "Thank you again, and be sure to thank the man who rescued me for me too."
Matt nodded. "I will. Goodnight, Y/N."
"Goodnight, Matt."
Matt closed the door behind Y/N and let out a deep breath. He walked back over to his kitchen area and poured a glass of whiskey, downing it in one swallow before pouring himself another.
He took a slower sip. He wasn't sure what it was about Y/N, but he felt a fierce need to protect her.
He chuckled to himself. Maybe Foggy wasn't too far off. Maybe I really can't resist a damsel in distress.
At any rate, he decided to stick to patrolling the same area for the next few days in case he ran into her again. Just so I can check on her, he told himself.
He finished his whiskey and rinsed his glass out, setting it in the dish rack to dry.
He had just picked up his phone when it buzzed with a text message. Your girl is home safely, amigo, his text-to-speech app read out loud to him.
Thanks, Jake, Matt dictated back. I owe you one.
He sent the reply, then walked into his bedroom and plugged his phone in to charge, pulling off his Henley before climbing into bed.
He could still smell Y/N's scent in the air as he drifted off to sleep.
