August 18, 2024 Update from the Battleship Texas Foundation

"BATTLESHIP TEXAS UPDATE

The ship is currently moored at Pier D in Gulf Copper Shipyard where it will continue to undergo repairs and preparations to become a museum ship once again.

Battleship Texas is currently moored at Pier D in Gulf Copper Shipyard where it will continue to undergo repairs and preparations to become a museum ship once again.

PINE DECK REPAIRS: Workers are currently laying the pine deck on the ship's bow. Below is a breakdown of how this is done. Yes, Battleship Texas had a deck made up of mostly pine during the ship's service career.

The underlying steel deck has been repaired and made watertight with all existing studs removed and ground flush. Once welding has concluded in each area, the steel is properly coated.

4"x4" treated southern yellow pine deck planks are shaped and fitted to the deck then coated to protect against moisture. A Dolphinite Bedding Compound is applied to both the steel deck and bottom of the board prior to final installation. Boards are secured by studs which are welded to the steel deck during installation.

Plank and margin board seams are caulked using on strand of cotton caulking, three strands of oakum, and sealed with a marine sealant.

There are a lot of benefits to sleeping with John Seed. The fully stocked kitchen is one of them, the water pressure in his ridiculously elaborate shower is another. It really makes you think about things, doesn’t it?”

“The thing you aren’t sure is real?” John frowns, shifting to get a better position between her legs before he ducks down to swipe his tongue over her clit. 

Rook gasps, twisting the sheets in her hands and pulling one of her legs up to dig her heel into the mattress. “Yeah,” she says, though it comes out a lot more breathy than she intends. “I’ve got more facts,” Rook says, grabbing for John to pull him in for a kiss. “I know all about birds and… other animals.” That’s a lie; the penguin thing was already stretching the limits of her knowledge in that area, but at least she thinks John is already aware of that. She hooks one leg over his hips and lets her eyes slip closed at the first press of his cock to her entrance as he lines himself up. “I am a well of all knowledge.”

“Rook,” John says, pushing in slow, and letting her adjust to the hard drag of him against her walls. “Is this really the time for that? Really?”

Rook’s heart pounds violently against her chest, causing her still healing ribs to ache even more. She cant take her eyes away from the door of the cabin. He said he would be back and she believes him, but still she can’t stop the panic rising within her.

She hated this, all of it. The separation anxiety she was now feeling, the calmness she felt when he was nearby, and most of all the way she craved his touch.

Not much more than a week earlier she absolutely loathed Jacob Seed. She wanted nothing more but to see him dead for the crimes he committed against Hope County and its people.

Now? Now she relied on him, she needed him. She wanted him.

It started with her running into him and a hunting party in high up in the Whitetails. The deputy had been able to ditch the rest of his party, but it was harder slip Jacob. The poor weather didn’t help either as the small snow flurry falling upon the mountains began to grow in to a full on blizzard.

Jacob had caught her off guard, causing her to slip on some ice and to fall off a small cliff, breaking her leg and cracking at least two of her ribs.

To her surprise the mountain man didn’t just kill her. Instead he dragged her to this nearby cabin, where he has been caring for her for the past several days.

The storm left them snowed in for almost a week, surviving on the small amount of canned food they found. Now that the weather had finally died down, Jacob had decided to do a small reconnaissance and see if they could get back to to the greater part of Hope county or at the very least find some fresh meat.

As much as Rook wanted pain meds and to eat something other than spam, she couldn’t help but resent the storms end.

Of course she was scared for what Jacob would do to her once back in the influence of his family and the Project. But more than that she was going to miss this time she had with just him.

That thought made her curse at herself and wonder, not for the first time, if she had a concussion on top of everything else.

It was true though. She would miss him, she enjoyed this past week with him. The tender way he would touch her when he checked on her injuries or the warmth of his body when he lied next to her in the single small bed. She loved the way he would sing to her when he thought she had fallen asleep and the way his fingers would absently play with her hair matching the tune of his songs.

Nothing physical had happened between them, and yet the time they’ve shared felt so much more intimate than that.

These new developing feelings for the Herald terrified yes, but this new view of Jacob also saddened her. She had spent many a night fantasizing about the man he could have been, and without fail the thoughts would bring tears to her eyes.

Rook begins to calm as she hears his familiar foot stomps outside the cabin. She holds her breath as the doorknob begins to turn, awaiting the news of what he found and what happens next between them.

I find that I like writing John and Hudson! They’re the easiest to write for me, to be honest? A lot of the dialogue I’ve written for them just… comes naturally to me.

Not that I’ve done it yet but… Joseph. It’s so hard to get into his head that I never know how to start

Fantasy Name Generators! I just pick what sounds best and I mix and match whatever the generator gives me. Middle names though, I go through baby naming sites and pick what flows best with the first name I’ve chosen

So i’m still sick with the cold and i’m feeling so so(fam brought back dinner which was very funny of some fried chicken and mashed potatoes) and i’ve been trying to sleep it away(and yes I would share the chicken with Azul bb💜💜💜)

Aquarium date and learning more about the fish is *chefs kiss from a distance to not get ye sick* and having to stop Floyd from swimming with the fishes is hilarious and stressful
