My 16" Ball Jointed Doll Prototype is Made of Dreams
And rainbows and glitter. Spice and everything nice.
My line of crafted ball-jointed dolls, called "Nebulon" are in development!
This video features the Msafiri face sculpt on a standard body with a standard bust. She wears a custom hard cap mini afro wig made from human hair. She is 16 inches.
Nebulon is a fictional planet among the stars. And my dolls are precious little aliens. It's been a long road getting to this prototype and yet there is so much more to do.

Meet June!
I bought June with intention of making her a POC Sailor Moon (she originally had cute little buns) but I neglected to totally read her listing saying she came from a smoking household. I tried everything to get rid of the smell, using tea tree oil in a last ditch effort (and accidentally DOUSED here in it, poor thing).
The cigarette smell is gone and the tea tree oil has lessened so I set about putting together a cute outfit. I had to take her buns out to wash her and I could not get them to look right again so just did pony tails. I put her in the cute Woodstock outfit I'd been saving, she looks so good in it!! I did swap out one thing; the outfit originally came with a yellow plastic purse with Woodstock on it but...
...this Snoopy looking plush backpack from one of the Clueless dolls works even better!! So cute:)
She may not be Sailor Moon but she reminds me Usagi in her regular outfits:)

Halloween is coming up, so I wanted to show off my girls in their costumes. First is Mia as Strawberry Shortcake and Shamsa as Mirabel Madrigal.
Nellie is Cinderella.
Ivy is dressed as Winnie the Pooh and Kavi is a clown. (My Ivy is perpetually barefoot. I don't know why. She's the only one like that.)
Lilias is playing Rapunzel, Dovie is a cowgirl, and Apolline is a ray of sunshine. (I had to remove the shoes because she fell off my desk at least half a dozen times. Heeled shoes on dolls with flat feet are awful.)

Enjoy a photo dump. This isn’t everyone.
After the move everyone’s hair got a bit messy. I took the time to bring each one down and do their hair nice. I use a control gel and gently brush it in to keep the look and control flyaways.

Finished her!! I haven't named her yet but I'm very happy with how she turned out!! My first fully completed, actual BJD!!
When I had ordered the darkest shade,I had expected and wished a darker colour, but the skin tone is WAY lighter? That's alright I guess..
Body : xidondon small family bjd body 1/12, cinnamon colour (ABS/PLA)
Head: GSC Nendoroid Doll face plate parts, cinnamon(hard plastic) I made the back of the head myself.
Shirt: Etsy (Mori Time)
Shoes: Etsy (BJD house but BJD Warehouse and others also have them)
Hair, skirt, overskirt and resin eyes made by me
Can I say I'm proud of the eyes?
She sit,she see you
Bonus: photos before taming her hair with gel(because they actually turned out kinda nice)
This is my first fully strung ball jointed doll except the two blind box bjds (the bunny and the centaur, but their hair is hard cast, like figures, not well...hair). I can never afford full resin bjds, and definitely not anything bigger than 1/8 scale, but to be honest that's okay, since I like smaller things more. I hope you like her as much as I do! I took more photos, I'll post them (and decide on a name) later!

The dorklets in...Little Allison's Sleepover I!
Little Allison feels overwhelmed by the mess in her room. She calls her friend Little Theo for help.
Yes, folks, the dorklets are back! Little Allison is a repainted and rehaired Jakks Pacific Juku Couture Kana head on a hybrid body with Spin Master Liv bust, arms, and legs and Obitsu 24 abdomen and upper thighs. Little Theo is a custom sculpted, printed, painted, and wigged resin head on a heavily modified MGA Rainbow High body.
Little Allison is an only child, but she has a big room because she has the dorklets over so often for sleepovers!
Little Allison and Little Theo are both Black, so I wanted to make sure that their wall decor included Black characters. The picture of Pele is by Susan Seddon Boulet. The girl in the phone booth, the one with golden hair, the one in a pastoral scene, and the dreaming astronaut are all by the amazingly talented Geneva B.! The cupcake/street scene is by Little Cake Friends.

Happy Kwanzaa!!
The principle for the second day of Kwanzaa is kujichagulia, or self-determination. This Kwanzaa, I'm thinking about Congo, and Palestine, and Sudan, who have been denied the right to determine their own fate and actions due to centuries' of interference by colonial powers. Please take some time to write your representatives, donate to organizations providing aid on the ground, organize/attend protests, or find a way to get involved that is meaningful to you

Makeup Tests with Pan Pastels
I purchased two sets of pan pastels, one with a variety of browns and another with an assortment of primary colors. I wanted to test them on the skin complexions I had. One was more yellow, the second was standard brown, and the third was a very deep brown. The colors were incredibly vivid and required very little for a pronounced effect. However this only applied to the lighter skin tone and light paper/wood I painted on. The brown required a bit more effort and most colors did not appear at all on this skin tone. The deepest brown skin tone hardly benefitted from the Pan Pastel treatment.
{I think a second experiment that includes me building colors in layers, with each layer preserved with a sealant could possibly improve the outcome.} This experiment mirrors what many melanated women experience in the real world with makeup. Some products simply just don't work! It's like applying invisible pigment, or worse the skin looks casket ready. In recent years, a number of brands have prioritized making great products that work across a spectrum of skin tones. I had hoped Pan Pastel would be like Fenty Makeup for my dolls, (especially for the price) but it seems not! Anyways I will keep trying. I'm convinced I can make this work.
