Today I had an empty dishwasher 🍴🍽️🔪!
Today is the day of Empty Laundry Hampers!
Today, I have joy in the completion of
Endless Tasks
Tumblr media
Satisfaction in a job well done (even as the tasks pile up again already.)
Rebloggen if you deserve a moment of satisfaction in the endless grind. Rebloggen for empty sinks, clean kitchen, folded laundry, and the executive function to do All The Things when you must.
Inhale, exhale, repeat. Take the satisfaction where you can get it.

For fifteen years I've been cutting my garlic traditionally. Just my hands, a cutting board, and a knife that is appropriately blunt so I don't raze the skin of my fingers. I have a habit of self-inflicted and avoidable but totally unintentional cooking wounds.
About a month ago I finally gave in and bought a garlic press. Quite an impressive name for such a small device. My friend persuaded me that my worst fear about them was unjustified: it's pretty easy to clean out if you just do it immediately.
This didn't account for my failure to do the dishes recently and the garlic press was one of its victims. And all my nightmares came true.
Not only was garlic vehemently stuck in all the little holes. The small bucket-shaped part that can be separated for easy cleaning was glued mercilessly to the rest of the device. I pulled and pulled. Then I tried my nails. Eventually I pulled out some small scissors that I like to use in the kitchen.
I knew the danger that was involved. Like my knives, these scissors were not very sharp, but there is no accounting for my clumsiness.
I tried to squeeze one of the blades between the little bucket and the garlic press. Hoping to prise them apart. Instead, the scissor blade came loose and I jabbed its tip into my thumb. I succeeded on the second try.
Yet another self-inflicted and avoidable but totally unintentional cooking wound to be added to the list.

Just to clarify, I don’t mean when you’re rushing to get somewhere and don’t clean up because of that, just in general.

I'm all for associating "doing the dishes" with "the horrors" because who knows what has grown on their surfaces? What mysteries does the food that has snuck down the drain hold? Could there be any worse feeling than a punctured glove while in the middle of cleaning up dishes that have piled upon your kitchen sink? A wet floor in which your socks unfortunately touch? Truly it is a mortifying experience.
