And, of course, no Jim Henson exhibit is complete without Muppets from The Muppet Show! This year, I got to see three different Kermit the Frogs, including the original; Rowlf; Statler and Waldorf; a family of Koozbanians; the Swedish Chef; the original Java puppets; Bunsen and Beaker; the Country Trio; Miss Piggy (in her wedding dress from The Muppets Take Manhattan); Zoot; and Scooter. Aside from all the Kermits, I think the Country Trio were my favorites. If they look familiar, you're not mistaken--they're made in the likenesses of Jim Henson, Frank Oz, and Jerry Nelson.
Bonus puppets under the cut include the Beautiful Day monster; a Snowth; You Are My Sunshine; Nigel (The Muppet Show's orchestra conductor); and Wilkins and Wontkins from the Henson-produced series of Wilkins Coffee commercials.

Ruff day? Cue the four-legged visitors! 🐾
As part of their training as future assistance dogs, the Guide Dog Foundation brought this class of puppies to the Brooklyn Museum to navigate around our display cases, in and out of elevators, and through the galleries to prepare the puppies for any possible experience they may encounter with their handler who is blind or has low vision.
As a fur-iendly reminder, the Brooklyn Museum welcomes visitors with service animals, and you don’t need to notify us in advance. Animals whose sole function is to provide comfort or emotional support do not qualify as service animals under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and are, therefore, not permitted.
If you’re interested in volunteering as a puppy raiser, the Guide Dog Foundation accepts volunteers on a rolling basis. Register your interest: http://bit.ly/3KbWVKI

Welcome to
🇯🇵Elliott's Japan Trivia Corner!🇯🇵
Where you can learn random stuff about Edo-era Japan (and sometimes other periods) from your local neurodivergent nerd ✌️✨️
.
So y'all have heard of Kabuki right? If you haven't, it was the more popular form of theatre during Edo (by opposition to the more intellectual nō theatre), and it's got awesome makeup and fun flashy costumes.
Like a lot of cool things, it was created by women, who where then slowly driven out of it by men 🙃 But it was also super queer! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️
Kabuki originated from female travelling entertainers, then later welcomed male actors. Plays mostly happened in the pleasure districts, and they eventually kinda merged with prostitution. Long story short, if theatre-goers really fancied one of the actresses, they could go home with her for a reasonable fee 💸
The shogun, who didn't like many things and especially did not like fun, decided that this was unacceptable. And that the best course of action was obviously to ban women from performing kabuki.
Wanna guess what happened ?
That's right. The exact same thing continued, but with male prostitutes instead 👍 Good job, shogun.
Male actors playing female roles were called onnagata, and they were considered an ideal of feminine grace and beauty, that all the Edo-era women tried to copy. Which, if you've ever been to a drag show, is pretty understandable imho 💅
(Some onnagata apparently stayed in feminine attire even off-stage, which I personally cannot interpret differently than "Me? 🏳️‍⚧️Trans🏳️‍⚧️?? Noooooo, you misunderstand, I'm just reeeaaallyyy into method acting! 🤞")

SOUKOKU MUSEUM DATE because i’m at a vincent van gogh exhibition 🤩🤩
no because they would come here for the crab painting?? it looks so life like, chuuya would have to drag a drooling dazai away from the painting before he attempts to steal it. though, they probably have enough money to obtain the real thing at an auction…
but dazai would really relate to van gogh?? he shot himself in the stomach after leaving the mental asylum he admitted himself into, and died two days later. dazai wonders if the pain of bleeding out is worth dying his way…
they would fr spend so much time here and would have to be dragged out before the museum closes. dw chuuya buys a few of the artworks after that :)

I feel bad for very very big dog breeds because when they get old and lose muscular and skeletal strength they can get to the point where it hurts them to move around because they can no longer support their own mass, even at a healthy weight…..
