If i don’t get an update soon on my god damn top surgery insurance negotiation im going to lose my fucking mind
#it’s been just. a fucking absurd amount of time#mostly not their fault in that my dad fucked everything up last year by dropping me from his insurance without prior notification#and i had to go through authorization + LOA negotiations all over again with my new plan once i FINALLY got said plan#and now im at that LOA part again which is almost entirely out of my hands (negotiation of coverage between the clinic and my insurance#cause the clinic is out of network and blah blah blah)#so I don’t really know what’s going on and I just have to wait indefinitely until they contact me. it’s been 3 weeks since I last messaged#them begging for an update. it’s been much longer than that since the LOA thing started#funny that this is Still preferable to if I went with the in-network location I was originally referred to. which I called in January 2024#just to be told the soonest CONSULTATION appointment would be in late January of 2026#again just for the consultation. god knows when the actual surgery would be#so. all things considered I think i chose the best option I could here but ghrgsggsgghh im still losing my mind#I hate having no timeline and no idea what’s going on and I just have to wait and pray#I can’t even start planning or anything re: money + booking a hotel + etc#beyond like. just generally saving money. which I certainly have been trying to (with moderate success)#actually pretty decent success if things keep going the way they currently are + I get my financial aid money throughout the year#does not help though that I have literally no decent point of reference for what my insurance might have me pay out of pocket#like taking a shot in the dark (+ some reddit posts that Might apply)….maybe 4-7K out of pocket?#but I don’t know man. I really do not know#im just hoping going through all this is worthwhile and I don’t waste all this time just to be given an estimate that’s not even that#different from the totally out of pocket cost#at least I have like three different ways of getting massive hotel discounts that’s a godsend#sigh#kibumblabs

random dating hcs ᰔ mona, alhaitham, gaming
Tumblr media
genre: fluff (no prns)
a/n: dating headcanons... drabbles... blurbs (not rly sure what to call these) also mona in the new cat event!! i love mona, she was the first five star i ever wanted and the first one i ever got, so i'm happy she's at least getting some more screentime haha ♡
Tumblr media
mona
mona isn’t the most… responsible with her money. while she does have money set aside, the vast majority of her income goes to her life’s interest: astrology. but even with her lack of money, mona still wants to do things with you! … just without a hefty price tag.
mona loves to stargaze — befitting of an astrologist. she loves taking you around different heights of mondstadt! mona knows all the best spots that have a good view of the night sky — pointing out all the constellations, rambling on to you about what they mean… she’ll even make some copies of her own star charts to give you for future reference.
not really a known fact about her, but mona is actually a pretty decent cook! she'd want to prepare you a filling (and cheap), but very delicious meal rather than go out to eat. sometimes, she’ll end up lecturing you on market prices and ways you can prepare meals for a low cost — she wouldn’t want you buying overpriced ingredients when you can get just as good ones for a cheaper price!
and yes, if you ask her nicely she can create and show you reflections other than constellations with her hydromancy… just for you though. she wouldn’t want people to think her hydromancy is all just for show.
(brownie points if you share the same interest in astrology. you’re basically a match at that point.)
“hm? of course, i knew we were destined to be together — the stars never lie.”
Tumblr media
gaming
the absolute sweetest! with how much he talks about you, people of liyue have to be living under a rock if they don’t know the two of you are together.
no has no shame with pda gaming will want to hold your hand everywhere you go. or have his arm around you. or hug you — he literally never gets embarrassed about giving you affection! he’s very into physical touch, he finds it’s comforting. i’d like to think he’s warm to the touch too — with or without the pyro vision. great cuddling material for cold days! (… hot ones too — you just have to wear breathable clothes so you don’t overheat.)
you don’t have to be into it as much as he is, but gaming would definitely want to teach you the basics of wushou dancing! he’s always there to help show and guide you through the movements — he likes to think he’s a pretty good teacher! he'll joke about putting on a duo performance… just a joke of course, haha… unless—?
oh, and man chai loves you! i like to think man chai acts more well behaved for you than he does with gaming, (he blames it on all the treats you give him) but he’s so glad you too get along! … even if man chai does steal take more of your attention when you’re together...
“y’know, i'm starting to think man chai likes you way more than he likes me! … but it's you, so i don’t blame him though, haha!”
Tumblr media
alhaitham
alhaitham as quite the reputation for being… unapproachable to say the least. to people, his words and gaze seems judgemental, so how could someone stand to be around someone like that? lucky for you, you're able see past what those people seemingly think of him!
the books alhaitham reads aren’t made for the average’s person leisurely reading — their complex and lengthy — but alhaitham feels a kind of… fondness when you ask him to read out loud whatever book he's currently reading to you! …even if you do end up becoming a bit sleepy due to the content of the book (he thinks it’s cute. will he say that to you? … maybe teasingly.) he also will read and take book suggestions from you if you have any for him! he doesn’t just read non-fiction (and if it’s from you, really he’s open to anything. anything.)
because of alhaitham’s day consisting pretty much on a schedule, he finds himself finding ways to incorporate you into it with his free time. he prefers to spend time with you in more quiet and secluded places around sumeru away from people, but i actually feel like he wouldn’t be opposed to dates in public! going to the likes of places such as the grand bazaar to see what people are selling or watching performances that are put on in the theatre (though most of the time it’s you dragging him out… he does find it entertaining to see your face light up at all of the sights)
on some occasions, he’ll bring you along with him when he’s invited out for drinks with cyno, kaveh and tighnari. (try your best to tease him in front of them, but he’ll always have a playful quip right back at you.)
"really? because sometimes i think you love using me more as a pillow than an actual boyfriend. i’m only joking dear, i love you too.”

Okay gen question, how are you so good at anatomy? like I know its a mix of years of practice and experience. Mayhaps you can spare some tips on how ppl can improve theirs? Always looking forward to your works btw! Even the scribbles you think aren't decent are always such a nice treat to see <3
It being drilled into my system years ago in a drawing class specifically for that 😭 Then a character design class the next semester that added on top of it. BUT FOR CARTOONSSSSS (I have not accomplished anything in my life to utilize any of this.)
My main point of knowledge reference is this book though (OMG FREE INTERNET ARCHIVE PDF? Yes. Though I personally have a physical copy.) We didn’t really read the walls of text so much as just practiced the proportion stuff in the early pages ad-nauseam and some skeletons (not hyper detailed ones just making sure bones were where they should be). Tho admittedly I’ve been neglecting any studying. (This book came out in 1943 brrgh) DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH I HAD TO DRAW THIS DIAGRAM? MORE THAN ANY PERSON SHOULD.
Tumblr media
But hey, it works. I still sometimes end up referring back to it if I think I’m sucking (disclaimer: i think this often )
As far as I’ve come to know, how something looks visually doesn’t matter so much long as basic proportions are correct. Cuz even people without trained eyes for this sorta thing can recognize when something is proportionately wrong. Like, I guess on you know where everything is supposed to go, you can kinda do anything from there?? I think. It translated well when we were drawing real people who were not the “ideal” presented, and when moving to more stylized stuff with their own rules in a completely different course. So what if that leg doesnt look exactly like u think a leg looks anatomically— IS THE KNEE IN THE CORRECT SPOT? Yes? Then u did it.
Also that eyes are in the center of the face. Not the nose. JUMPSCARE!!!
Aaaa, this isn’t really an interesting answer. If I ever figured out better streaming outside if private discords I could probably make my points better rather than pulling a “here’s a textbook, figure it out” CUZ ITS LIKE. ITS OVERWHELMING WITHOUT A GUIDE AND 😭😭😭
I don’t know. I don’t think I have “anatomy” correct, just “proportions.” Cuz I wouldn’t be able to tell you what something is, just where something goes. Which… I think is a little more important and also a distinction I don’t really see anyone making in drawing.
Though, as much as I wanna be helpful in a more effective way, it’s really really really hard for me to articulate how anyone could improve theirs if I don’t know what the alleged problem areas are 😭 I find all this stuff to be case by case. I kind of do better if i can directly point things out and offer info from there instead of blank slate tips. If I ever figure out streaming outside of private discords it would probably be easier (literally doesnt own a functional up to date enough computer)
I guess focus less on “anatomy” and focus more on proportions since that does more of the heavy lifting? Unless ur a med student, then you probably should focus on anatomy
someone could die because you couldnt identify their coccyx
OKAY THATS IT THANKS AND SORRY

Regarding Lucien’s scars. I think it’s basically a headcanon in the fandom that Lucien still has the scars on his back from being whipped, but if those are present in canon too, that could be interesting. Howeverrrr… the facial scar must be kind of a big deal for Lucien. Amarantha attacked him 50ish years ago and then within a few days she organized that masquerade ball “in Lucien’s honor” - the masked theme was a scheme to help him basically hide what she did to his face. Then the masks were plastered to the faces of everyone in Spring Court because Tamlin didn’t accept to sleep with Amarantha. So here’s Lucien, hiding his scars for 50 years no matter how uncomfortable the whole mask situation may have been… but now his facial scar that he cannot hide anywhere (unlike Azriel’s hands) is just in full view for anyone who looks at him. I think there is no question about it. He must be self conscious about it, especially since he thinks Elain is the most beautiful female he has ever seen and she doesn’t reciprocate anything yet. People have been writing about it here on tumblr recently but I really hope SJM explores Lucien’s character from this perspective too. I assume he must feel very inadequate compared to Elain. She has so much (family, friends, connected to the IC, safety and security, beauty, etc.), whereas Lucien refers to himself as a whole lot of nothing. He doesn’t have a home or even a court, he’s basically all alone in the fae world, his closest allies are two humans who so far don’t have much power or influence in Prythian. I assume he is probably also unhappy with his looks after such a traumatic experience. I hope SJM explores this, I think that would be a really cool addition to Elucien’s healing journey. Even though Lucien is quite snarky and cocky outwardly, his inner monologue seems very self conscious. Ahhh SJM give us the angstttttt
I AGREE!!!!!! I think while there are sincere aspects of Lucien's personality that are (hahaha, I just accidentally typed snocky which was my brain getting confused on whether I wanted to type snarky or cocky first) snarky and cocky, I also feel it's a default mechanism too. Lucien is known to take care in his appearance and he is aware of appearances. Even in book once he was a bit of a fashionista, commenting on how Feyre's tunic wasn't as pretty as a dress and being amazed at how positively fae she looked when she did finally put one on. There's also this: Lucien said, "True. But indulge me: you're a human woman, and yet you'd rather eat hot coals than sit here longer than necessary. Ignoring this" - he waved a hand at the metal eye and brutal scar on his face-" surely we're not so miserable to look at. Lucien must be constantly aware of others looking at him and I'm guessing he's never sure if it's about the eye or if his scars are unappealing to them. For someone who does care about appearances, whose job it is to talk to High Lords and make friends to be a successful emissary, there is definitely an inner discomfort he's trying to brush off through his nonchalance and jokes about his appearance. I think you're right. Elain is beautiful to the point that people talk. Eris somehow heard across courts that Lucien's mate is a real beauty. She had heiresses jealous of her at barely thirteen. Her mother commented that if her beauty held, she'd be able to secure them a decent match on the marriage market (Elain was 11). So Lucien comes along and not only is he given this super special, sacred bond with her but she turns out to be the most beautiful female he'd ever seen all while knowing that she's in love with someone else. And there he is, with no home, no family name, a scar running down his face and one eye. I would take Lucien in a second and we know that many in the ACOTAR world reference his good looks but you can see how he would struggle with his appearance. You can see how Elain literally took his breath away and she did not seem effected by him (I imagine we'll find out that wasn't the truth in her POV but it's how he perceived it at the time). He thinks she doesn't want him or need him and I definitely think we're going to find that he's been feeling very insecure about her perception of his physical appearance.

That one line from Raphael's Second Diary will never cease to get me 🥺 LIKE MIGHT I ADD- these are his private thoughts, separate from his manipulation attempts and so he, with his full chest, admits so much in his second diary, like when he says "never have I been so attracted to mortals as I am to those infested by the tadpole." AHH, (my delusions are so real, trust)
BUT WHEN HE SAYS "They gestured to the melting hooks, suddenly glanced my way, and in their face I saw they had the best of me." look, I get the subtext behind all these quotes, but a girl can just ignore all that media literacy and take it for face value, OK? 💅 but also reading into it, he does admire Tav to a certain extent, and I have to wonder, why? Tav isn't an origin character and Tav's actions and character basically changes with every playthrough (Same with Durge, as they can change too) So I have to wonder if it's because Tav is controlled by the player, since, Raphael does end up breaking the fourth wall in his epilogue speech, so perhaps that's what he sees.
Another way to look at it is, either way, no matter what the playthrough, he sees something in Tav, something that makes them stand out much brighter than their companions (For some reason???)
To further that statement, what is the best of Raphael? I mean, if its an evil playthrough, that would be obvious, but if you're playing a good playthrough, what then? perhaps what he sees is someone he can finally use to get the crown, that's also very likely. Still though that's a very to the point (IMO) not as interesting of a reading since it's literally just his end goal for us, BUT STILL A VALID ONE, because, it is true, that's what he wants from us the most.
Also his third diary where he just straight up admits that he's being so honest with us so he can manipulate us, love that for him, "I am master here. A prince of bargains cloaked like scarlet satin. All that hidden under sublimely obvious truths that cannot be discounted." Which also makes me wonder, is Raphael actually an honest person? I mean, Korilla thinks he's at least decent, but honest? outside of helping us, if we look at Yurgir, he really fucked him over lol. Obviously, Raphael isn't what he seems, even if he's honest with us, to what extent? he says it himself, he's honest about "...sublimely obvious truths..." but what about when he says he's grown quite fond of us in his own way, HMMMM?
I wish this man got a proper story arc in the game, outside of the whole deal for the hammer and House of Hope, that's all plot related for the hammer, but a storyline about Raphael as a character? I mean yea, maybe that would whisk away some of his mystery, his intrigue, but I'm sorry- you cant just end it with him fucking himself (poorly) and trying to break Hope (making her a metaphorical symbol of hope anyway, I think....) AND LEAVE IT THERE?!?!? at the same time, I do like the ambiguity of his character, you could think of him as a cruel bastard after seeing what he's done in the House Of Hope to his debtors and Hope herself or perhaps just a Pathetic lil guy who's shit in bed lol, or maybe even soft, if you go off Korillas words and what he does for us in game he can come across as quite nice, especially after we've interacted with Mizora who's is the only other Cambion example we can go off of.
I also just think it's interesting that he sees anything in Tav/Durge at all. Ofc he says he sees the best of him (Always gotta relate back to himself lol) but that especially a mortal is what he could see himself, the best of himself, but then again he does see potential and ambition as admirable (?) or just something he appreciates, you can see that with Mol and Gortash to some extent anyway, But what ambitions does Tav have outside of just trying to survive? Like, the obvious answer is he wants us to give him the crown and we're the underdog in the story but then why does he refer to Tav so differently then? I fear this has turned into another rant again, lol.
Just a final thought here, but, if he did ever get a story arc, similar to the companions, would they give you multiple directions to take his character? i mean with Shadowheart for example, you could help her break from shar or have her fully convert into shars chosen, but even then, if you free her from shar theres the point of saving her family or freeing her from Shars (curse?) there's multiple ways for her story to end. Though, Raphael isnt a companion, so would he have something similar to idk a minor companion like Halsin or Minthara, who don't really have that much of a diversion (I think) in their endings, they don't really have the option, only really if the player decides to be evil or not, they kinda just follow them either way, it doesn't really impact their own stories. Obviously, I would prefer something with nuance but also, HE ISN'T A COMPANION 😭 and pressingly some of the companions need more work done than he does atm lol. Maybe that's me just projecting lol, once again, me wanting to have my cake and eat it too, anyway, that's me done... for now lol

IMKG- META POST
What is ‘if maggots knew god’ ?
What does it want to achieve?
Why is it taking so long?
(What is) if maggots knew god (IMKG) is a hobby-writing/illustration project of mine, i your ‘humble’ author and artist Hunter, decided to write and illustrate a graphic novel style horror/psychological comic. Because of I want to (:
The story premise can be found on the accounts pinned post so I’d refer to that in terms of explaining the idea.
The story serves as my personal little pet project not just to tell a story but also to learn about the process and in a sense “playtest” different ideas, a lot of the story ideas in IMKG are inspired by my own literal dreams (and nightmares tbh). I’m hoping to make all of this somewhat coherent into one story but to be completely honest I’m really just messing around with all this because it’s fun (:
(What does it want?) The story, focuses heavily on the concept of immortality, many characters within the story face a unique kind of immortality tied to the characters arc. In tangent with this one of the central themes of the story is also death, and the ‘ending’ of a story. What makes a good ending? What makes a bad one? How long should a story go on? Which are all questions a storyteller faces when writing.
“The story MUST end” to put it concisely, an objective fact. This also applies to living beings hence the theme of immortality, when is it appropriate for someone to die? What happens if they refuse?
The story is structured around the stages of grief, with an “act” of the story dedicated to each stage, the prologue (which is already finished and available!! Find on pinned in the chapter index if you haven’t read it already!) acting as the event that sparks this grief, although this might not be fully clear with the information currently available (will be elaborated on as the story continues though, as any prologue does)
Long story short, IMKG is a story that questions why things must end, how and the resulting grief from things ending. All wrapped up in a (hopefully) nicely illustrated horror setting.
(Why is it taking so long) I don’t know if you’ve ever tried to single handedly write and illustrate a 5 act story with several chapters for each act while ALSO figuring out the process in a practical sense.
It’s hard though!! And like, I’m also a full time student plus life and all that. Don’t get me wrong it’s tons of fun but there’s a reason they have multiple people for this professionally! Woof!
The process includes, a beta script, a final script, storyboarding the labels, rendering (sketch, lineart, colour, shading and lettering!!!) in the future, it’s possible that I might include friends in the process, currently my roommate helps me beta-read the script and has also helped a bit with the design process of things!
This blog has been around for about a year now! (Woo!! Yippie!!!) which I’ve spent figuring out major plot points, character designs for the main characters and TONS of world building,
a lot of which I’ve been sharing for the people who have been around since the beginning (and who I cannot thank enough for being around, seriously guys it might not be much but the handful of y’all are a key component in the making of this, the encouragement on posts keeps me working and motivated!! And not to name favorites but especially thanks to Elias-the-Corvid and sop-soap)
Conclusion
This has all been a decently sized rant, mostly for posterity’s sake, looking back at where we’ve been and where it’s all going from here as I’m finally getting into actually making the whole thing! And also a little bit to hopefully entice new people to be interested (:
There’s a lot more to this that I can’t wait to share

i saw whwre you said not to trust ramcoa carrds and i was wondering if the one called "explainingramcoa" and the resources on it look okay? i found it a while ago and havent been able to go tjrough it super well yet cuz im just learning abt it all
(Disclaimer: I am not a professional nor an expert, just some guy on Tumblr frustrated with misinformation trying to be helpful. Please do not take my word as fact and be critical of everything you read, especially about topics such as RAMCOA, where misinformation of the antisemitic variety specifically tends to run rampant.)
Rating: Decently Reliable (6/10)
Further explanation and analysis under the cut. Major trigger warning, this Carrd discusses instances of abuse in great detail that I will reference and pick apart.
I apologize for not getting back to you sooner, I had a very long and exhausting shift today, and I wanted to make sure that I did my due diligence in checking this source out. This Carrd does things a lot better than I've seen other Carrds do. For one, it lists out a sources page. It also provides examples instead of just saying nebulous things such as "governments" and "a secret network of [Jewish] organizations." That said, this is still a Carrd made by someone who is not an expert, which means that it is not fully reliable, and there are some claims that the author makes that make me raise my eyebrow.
Overall, here's how I would rank this Carrd in terms of common issues that I see among RAMCOA resources:
With 0 being "this issue is not present here" and 10 being "holy shit this Carrd's helpfulness is completely overshadowed by this."
Antisemitism And Related Rhetoric:
Satanic Panic Rhetoric: 4/10
Literally uses a source from nineteen fucking ninety-one to prove their point, which includes a lot of satanic panic bullshit. I'm sorry, but this is just not okay in any universe. Also, this gem of a misleading quote, which is either intentionally or unintentionally misrepresenting why the satanic panic was bullshit.
Known for its prevalence in the “Satanic panic” and sometimes even referred to as SRA (Satanic ritual abuse), ritual abuse is often seen as highly controversial. Victims are painted as unreliable or susceptible to their therapists’ suggestions, and their stories go unheard.
Like??? This person probably has no idea what the satanic panic even was. By omitting the crucial detail that it was an antisemitic and homophobic fearmongering tactic by the Christian conservative right, they're making it seem like any person trying to analyze the antisemitism of this crowd's rhetoric is inherently disrespectful to survivors. By trying to spread the narrative that it's disrespectful to survivors to be critical of fearmongering, it's harmful to way more people, including survivors.
"Shadow Government" Shit: 4/10
This Carrd contains a lot of references to the government or governments (though doesn't specify which government or where in the world) doing RAMCOA. While I do not doubt that some governments have indeed perpetrated this form of abuse, omitting the details of where this took place can be very harmful. Below is an example that the author of this Carrd provided of organized abuse.
A government, looking for ruthlessly loyal soldiers and assassins, allows children to be brought up as fighters against humanitarian law. The children are forced to do daily military drills, constantly exposed to violence from both sides, never allowed to show their emotions, etc. Some of these children are even given steroids and other drugs against their will with the hope of increasing their reflexes and strength.
I did a little google search about the use of child soldiers in modern times, and I specifically looked for instances of them being forced to use drugs. While it is true that this does happen, it happens very little, and it is mostly done by non-government military groups. Again, while this scenario does happen, putting it next to more common instances of child rape as if they're remotely the same in scale and frequency can be seen as misleading.
While the author doesn't make any false claims in this area per se, the way that they go about making their claims feels a bit iffy. I give this one a 4/10.
Jewish Stereotypes: 0/10
I didn't see any sort of stereotyping of Jewish people or anything like that, so this Carrd is pretty good on that end. Although, as a disclaimer, I'm not Jewish myself, so I do not have the final authority on this matter.
General Shit:
Medium Unreliability: 8/10
A score of 8/10 comes from the fact that it's a Carrd with no way to contact the author or even know who they are. They claim to be a survivor, but for all anyone knows, they could be lying about that. That does not mean that they are lying, and I understand that revealing that one is a survivor can put them at risk, but nonetheless it is difficult to trust a nameless, faceless person who claims to know about such a serious subject, and who has no professional qualifications or experience.
Bad Sources: 4/10
This Carrd uses a generally acceptable list of sources, but some are unreliable, and one is satanic panic bullshit.
Conclusion
Averaging out all of my ratings on various common problems, this Carrd gets a solid 6/10 (with 1 being the worst and 10 being the best) in terms of misinformation and harmful stereotypes. This makes it decently reliable with a few issues.

what are your thoughts on gamkar (esp as it is presented in the comic) ?
ehehehehe. well. i like dem :]
ummm um to be like #thoughtful or whatever though i always struggle to put my investment to words because i simultaneously feel like a lot of what draws me to them feels self explanatory but Also every time i think that about hs i turn out to be wrong. that sounds so mean i just have autism and 0 frame of reference lol.
but anyways for me like ive basically been invested in gamzee and by extension gamkar from the beginning. at risk of being kind of nice for once i actually think homestuck did a pretty decent job wrt the introductions of the trolls in establishing the levels of importance and especially the dynamics at play through when we see them interacting, so it always felt Important that the conversation that established gamzee and karkat as good friends was so early on. in general i dont really think hs has many transitional spots that are not being used intentionally to create subconscious association between the subjects. so by extension theres the more obvious literal conversation we have between the two of them that both establishes them as close (at least in gamzees mind) and establishes a rift in that relationship, but theres also things like the conversation gamzee and terezi have about playing the game together, that while not about karkat explicitly, kind of centers him from both ends and is literally sandwiched between the introductions of these two, which to me sets up the assumptions that their dynamic is going to hole relevance, which we end up seeing later on. dare i say that gamzee/terezi conversation even kind of ends up being the earliest nod that both of these trolls are in some way vying for karkats attention. theres like plenty more of these moments of association but im not willing to go looking atm, get back to me. good way to read the comic in general though, imo.
and like so its pretty obvious from the start then that gamkar was always going to be something, right? their personalities are written in a way that both compliment and counter each other, and theres that interest then in murderstuck when it is flipped on its head but idk if you go here i think by now it is clear i dont really agree with all of that. my interest lies in the fact that gamzee is the type of person karkat resents because to him, as somebody who both has been denied entry into society and who desperately WANTS it, even to the point of internalizing and glorifying the very oppressive violence that keeps him an outsider, gamzee has Failed. shes an addict, shes stupid, shes toothless, and above all she is weird and wholly unrelatable and karkat is simply not in the position at that stage of his life to sympathize because he is still running on the assertion that the Right way to be a troll is to conform to the expectations of the empire (and prove himself as one of the Good Ones). so when gamzee has their breakdown and all of a sudden karkat is not only unable to shove all of the responsibility he insisted upon onto another person, or ignore the fact gamzee spent all of her time haunting the meteor asking Him for help..... he does it. sort of.
this is kind of the spot where i have the most trouble articulating my thoughts because i guess they are sort of contradictory. because i think the gamkar moirallegience was not only at that point in time important to the integrity of the plot, but has always been an important part of the story in terms of culminating the themes and messaging going on. and i do stand by that, i think on top of the fact we were ROBBED, to erase that without ever addressing any of it again in the retcon is like.... a major misunderstanding of the functionality of the moment in the first place! which like yeah yeah its homestuck we should be used to that. but UGH. it undermined so much of karkats character to retcon what imo was always his peak moment of personal empowerment. everyone talks about karkat as somebody who is deeply caring despite his exterior and like... i do think that is true. but the story simply is Worse from then on having stripped him of the pivitol moment that truly defined that trait as vital to him, and i think it frankly has no small part in why karkat feels like less than a character by the end. that said i dont really think it was a "good" relationship. just not for any of the reasons anyone ever seems to say. so many conversations i see wrt gamkar is people talking about loving it but not the "toxic way it went down in canon", or calling it like mutually abusive, or just in general making karkat out to be some kind of victim of his ex when like......... thats all kind of just completely made up? for starters not that i dont Get it and not that i think it means he was being entirely disingenuous, but from the very beginning karkats establishment of their quadrant was done in a way that centered the people around them, not gamzee. and i say not gamzee exclusively because i think aside from the obvious of keeping their friends safe, karkat was also centering himself; we know the Point of moirallegiance is to keep an unpredictable party "in check", and that is what he did, but i can both understand the functionality of the relationship marker in the context of the universe And understand that to be a means of subjugation of the trolls involved. and karkat, being both obsessed with romance and holding a deep feeling of inferiority, of COURSE would look at this as an opportunity to prove he can live up to that expectation of pacification. we get his side of the story when things fizzle out, gamzees religion apparently becoming such a frontal obsession she doesnt pay him any mind, but we dont get to hear anything from the party whos not only being mind controlled, but also has to approach this dynamic with the knowledge it wasnt for her and that karkat continued to covet terezi "in every quadrant" (LOL!!!!!) when he wasnt openly mocking them. and well i just think that is very interesting. karkat is in a powerful position, narratively, that gamzee is never ever granted, that gives him the benefit of the doubt from the audience that he is right and she is wrong, even though we know that hes like... literally always wrong!!! i am not about to start trusting him NOW!!!
um ok this god long sorry. basically i think they are extremely complimentary to one anothers stories and flaws; karkat desperately needs to see and understand people that vary from the expectations he has grown up chasing. he needs somebody who understands what it is like not to meet those expectations. he needs a reason to choose growth or else he fizzles into the disgusting excuse for a character we have of him by the end! gamzee by contrast needs to be seen by somebody who is both in the position to treat her like a person, who holds power in this narrative they are all trapped within to Grant her the choice of depth. where he needs a reason to grow she needs somebody willing to grow to meet her where she is! you cannot pull somebody from their abuse but you must be willing to understand their reasonings and have a hand at the ready for the day they choose to go! ive never understood the debates surrounding gamzees agency because we are shown explicitly the ways it is denied, and shown her awareness to the fact she is trapped, the fact she is a character and the narrative cannot be upheld without her roles; karkats ability to "help" her to me was never as much a question about whether he could literally get her out of that, but whether he could act as the lens through which people understand gamzees situation As one of coercion. they are utena anthy forever ok im done

LAST TIME ON.....Power Rangers Hyperforce?  A bunch of crazy stuff happened that would take too long to explain because my god I am not rewatching all of those three-hour tabletop episodes just for a single one-shot book.  You just need to know there’s a team of rangers called Hyperforce that was mentored by Jen who went through a lot of shenanigans across their time stream until everything broke and they didn’t get a second season and everything sucks.  Also the pink ranger’s dad is the main bad guy and she works for him now.  Got that?  Okay.  Power Rangers Unlimited: Hyperforce.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- eh you know what, let me just repost the recap from the previews.  it does a decent job at summing up the first season so we might as well have it again as a reminder for what’s happening
Tumblr media
- fuck you dad i’m supposed to be taking down my dad
Tumblr media
- yeah sorry Chloe but your plan never would have worked.  Jen is not allowed to die in any story ever written with her inclusion
Tumblr media
- Alpha 55!!!!!!!!!  I did miss them.  Even if they started the confusing trend of taking MMPR stuff and repainting them gold and black
Tumblr media
- I still can’t fucking believe Joe/Nadira is canon.  Literally for what reason
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- It took me a second to remember that Hyperforce went to the North Pole during the first season and I have to say I laughed imagining newbies picking up this mostly serious and dramatic book just to get to this page
Tumblr media
- it’s a shame the answer to this was Eddie dumping this beautiful woman at the alter for Vesper and not Vesper simply adding herself to the marriage
Tumblr media
- let her cook honestly
Tumblr media Tumblr media
- great character development, everyone!  now anyway
Tumblr media
- [always sunny theme] the gang gets betrayed.  also Marv and Joe are here
Tumblr media
- I already made the Emperor Belos joke but now I’m distracted by the fact he’s stealing Drakkon’s half hair/half bald style.  It doesn’t look good guys, no matter where you part it!!!!!!
Tumblr media
- you know, serious question here.  Did they give Marv shit for not getting the Battlizer in Hyperforce???  I thought it was just a Thing That Happened and everyone was like haha cool
Tumblr media
- “upgraded Rita Repulsa”
Tumblr media
- see even Big Bad Dad thinks this story is rushed
Tumblr media
- well at least he’s honest
Tumblr media
- I find it funny that they’re pressuring Marv to be the leader just because he’s red when they were mentored by fucking JEN
Tumblr media
- it’s a shame Hyperforce is canonically set in 3000s because you know if it wasn’t this would have set off a string of “[random ranger girl] is Chloe’s mom” theories
Tumblr media
- I mean she’s right.  what hope do we have from a team who couldn’t even get a second season
Tumblr media
- idk Shattered Grid got fixed pretty easily.  Even the cracks that were supposed to be some huge existential consequence just kinda............were fine
Tumblr media
- Funny coincidence how the Hyperforce team goes to recruit the Wild Force team only for them to already be beaten.  I feel like this would have worked a little better if they went to the Wild Force team because they were pinging for help, because they genuinely don’t give a reason as to why they go to the Wild Force rangers specifically kjlskdlfksj just based on vibes, I guess
Tumblr media
- first of all: going from referring to Spa’ark with he/him to they/them pronouns in the span of a panel makes me feel like the misgendering was an editor mistake, which........come on, guys
- second of all: it’s not a surprise that Taylor is the only one left considering her popularity but lbr her popularity is because she’s basically Wild Force’s version of Jen.  Jen, who was a main character in Shattered Grid.  sooooooo not helping the “this is just Shattered Grid” allegations
- third of all: IS DRAKKON THE ONLY VILLAIN TO LOOK AT WHAT RITA’S DOING AND GO UHHHH NO THANKS?  Spa’ark wanted to FIGHT Dark Specter!!!!!  why are they joining him now!!!!!!  why must we continue to destroy any of their nuance!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don’t mind them having a body though despite it being a plot point that they're only a spirit/consciousness that exists inside their morpher/zord because I feel that’s easy enough to bullshit an explanation like Rita fixed them through magic or whatever

Why do you complain about nsfw blogs etc in the tag when you literally follow the most disgusting people like a fucking hypocrite
https://www.tumblr.com/savagemasculinity/765210725195071488/fatphobic-because-i-said-i-wouldnt-have-sex-with?source=share
This guy has already been pointed out to you as a fake, he pretends to be traditional and a decent guy when he is into BDSM and oppressing women for his own advantage. Kinks are fine if both parties consent but he's not into that. It's about hurting women for pleasure not a mutual agreement.
Now he's making disgusting comments about plus size women. If he isn't attracted to that, fair enough, he doesn't need to go around saying it though to look like the toxic alpha male he so aspires to be.
You keep portraying yourself as a liberal but traditional woman with good values but I think you're hiding a lot of bad shit that wouldn't be accepted. You can tell a lot about a person over the company they keep. You're not as wholesome as you make out, which would be fine actually if you are if you just stopped lying about it and gaslighting people. I don't mind people with kinks etc if they have boundaries, consent etc but you're going around condemning that kind of nsfw stuff whilst following those kind of blogs anyways. That guy has personal photos of weapons etc he uses on women so no way you'd miss that. If you're into that ok, just stop acting like you're not
Hi! Thank you for your ask!
Now, I do not think I have been warned about this blog before.
I have been about another blog and I have fully cut ties with that person who I thought was my friend.
I am not close to @savagemasculinity
Yes, I do follow him.
And as I have stated in my pinned post.
Just because I follow someone or reblog from someone does not automatically mean I agree with everything they have ever said or done.
It just means that I liked that specific post.
Do I think someone is fatphobic for not being attracted to people of a specific weight?
No. That's not something you can force.
Just as much as I can't help being attracted to both men and woman.
I love my boyfriend like crazy!
I don't want anybody else!
But that can't change my sexuality.
I follow a lot of blogs, so I don't always see every single thing someone posts. So I do not know what posts you are referring to.
I have not seen anything related to BDSM or weapons or alpha male stuff.
Maybe because I have specific tags blocked? I don't know, I haven't seen them.
I do not know.
I sometimes see posts in general that I do now agree with. That's why I do not 're log' or 'like' those.
I rather not see NSFW stuff when I don't specifically seek them out.
And when it comes to kink.
I really dislike the fact that almost everything get sexualized.
I actually truly don't like the BDSM and kink stuff. I'm trying to avoid it as it makes me extremely uncomfortable.
Personally I do not think I have ever referred to myself as a liberal.
And as I have stated before, I try to not to interact or speak about political things.
Unless when it is something that really hits me specifically.
Like the post about the McDonald's manager hiring security because of threats they got.
That shocked me
I do not fake my personality on here.
It's the internet and I have the choice to share what I want to share.
So you only see a specific side of me.
This does not mean that I lie to people or gaslight people.
I'm not going to share everything about me. I don't think that makes me a liar.
I think it makes me protective of my own self.
If I am missing a lot of context I'm willing to listen and learn.
And if I still follow more of these blogs let me know.
Also feel free to chat with me directly or send another ask.
I think you mean well and I appreciate your concern.

Journey Through Archie Sonic - Part 2
The Rest of the Original Mini-Series
Making this a bit later than I intended, but life gets in the way sometimes-
Anyways, like I said a few days ago, I'm going to try to make this a weekly thing. If you wanna read the previous part just click the 2nd tag and you'll find it pretty easily.
This is going to be a bit disjointed until I can figure out a better way to do this, but that's enough stalling I think. So without further ado, let's jump right back in!
Sonic the Hedgehog Mini-Series #1 - Mar. 1993
Tumblr media
This is honestly a pretty sick cover. I've never really been a fan of the western designs they used back then, especially with the stupid mohawk they gave Sonic which just looks wrong to me, but the way Robotnik is drawn here is... kinda awesome. He's very imposing, his hands reaching out to grab him while Sonic speeds off with Sally in his arms, not looking the least bit worried while the Princess is clearly not as certain they'll be making it out.
Solid cover. 8/10
Similar to the last issue, this is broken into a four issues in two parts. The first dealing with Sally trying to get herself roboticized so they can figure out how it works, and the second dealing with... fish.
Not going to summarize too much, but I do wanna go over a few things;
1: Apparently Robotnik is... actually a robot here??
Tumblr media
Obviously, that doesn't stay the case since... well, that becomes an entirely separate character, but it's still really confusing to me because... he doesn't look like one?
Maybe they just mean he's a cyborg? Cause that would actually make sense given his design.
Idk, it's weird
2: Sonic, what the hell does that mean??
Tumblr media
I mean, it's probably a reference to "Sonic Twosday," the promotional event they did in America for the release of Sonic 2, but it feels kinda forced-
3: WELL MAYBE IF YOU HAD EXPLAINED YOUR PLAN TO YOUR ENTIRE TEAM INSTEAD OF WORDING YOUR PROCLAMATION LIKE YOU WERE A COMPLETE IDIOT THINGS WOULD'VE WORKED OUT DIFFERENTLY
Tumblr media
Like unless I missed something, there is literally no reason she couldn't have told them. They weren't being watched by Robotnik, and she left a note telling them she was planning to meet with him to discuss Robotnik returning the kingdom to her, so she could've just told them her plan, and asked them to retrieve her boots afterwards so they could've figured out how to undo it, but NOOOOOO
I get that this is during the gag era days and I shouldn't take this that seriously, but this genuinely irks me... so much.
#4: Sonic can not only swim but breathe underwater
Tumblr media
Not going to give them too much flack for this, since this was still very early days... but it still feels wrong.
He also later on starts running out of air during a fight, and continues to talk which hurts my brain, but he does get it back by swallowing an air bubble, which is neat.
5: If this actually comes up in the main series, I will be very impressed
Tumblr media
This could earn them at least 10 brownie points.
But that's it for Issue #1. Still a decent read despite my frustrations with the first story, though I think #0 was way funnier. Like no Swat Bots dancing in the fire this time, not as many dumb sign gags. You can really tell they were still trying to figure this out.
Anyways, time to move on to-
Sonic the Hedgehog Mini-Series #2 - Apr. 1993
Tumblr media
This cover's alright. Doesn't really tie into anything going on in the story (At least the last issue had Sonic saving Sally, even if she didn't want to be saved), and the background is a little bland. But it's eye-catching and definitely has some charm to it.
I'll give it a C-
The story here is probably my favorite out of the whole mini, as this time we've got a story that spans all four parts of the issue, and has some nice attention to continuity which I did NOT expect.
The premise here is that Sally is about to be crowned Queen (kinda), hoping to use the magic of the emeralds atop her father's crown to keep them safe and maybe help defeat Robotnik.
Tumblr media
Interesting that we're introducing yet another set of powerful gems here. I'm really curious to see if these come back later on.
Anyways, this is probably the only major issue I have with this story-
Tumblr media
Whomst the shock are all these guys??? Since when does Antoine have anyone under his command?? Isn't like... the entire joke about him at this point that he's really full of himself but can't do anything right??? And literally every other issue in this mini has it be JUST Sonic's group in Knothole, so where did they even come from???
Anyways, the pig turns out to be a spy from Robotnik, who stole the Freedom Emeralds to scatter them around so they can't use them.
Also... apparently revealing you're a robot turns you purple??
Tumblr media
(Insert William Afton joke here)
After this, the pig tries to blow them all up, but Sonic saves them with that bit of continuity I mentioned before.
Tumblr media
They're actually referencing one of those joke pages from Issue #0, and they continue to do so throughout the rest of the mini. I really like this! It turns a one-off gag into actual lore, making it serve the purpose it was meant to by showing off his different levels of speed.
So now, Sonic has to team up with the other Freedom Fighters in each part to get the emeralds back. He technically worked with Sally in the first part, and now he's forced to work with Antoine here, Tails in part three, and technically Rotor in part four (though really he just repairs the crown after Sonic gets all the gems back). Still, it's a great set up, and it leads to two jokes that got small a chuckle out of me.
The first one being-
Tumblr media
... like I wanna hate it, but I just can't. Especially with how Antoine is completely unaware of it for the rest of this issue. He genuinely was so lost in his own head that he never thinks twice about it.
And the second is during a revisit to that underwater cave from last issue (Meaning that either this is a different Chopper or they're never going to follow up on his report... which is sad)
Tumblr media
Like I'd normally be questioning how they drew all that with only a green marker (when there's not even green on Sonic yet), but the "I should've noticed they only had four fingers" line just gets me.
... yeah, if you can't tell I'm not the target audience for this. I think way too hard about this stuff, so books that are just trying to have fun rarely work for me. But this is what won the poll-
Still I am enjoying these more than I thought I would. Even when the jokes don't land, they're usually so charming in the way they're told that I don't care.
There are a few more bits from part IV I wanna bring up that I liked.
Tumblr media
Namely, RETURN OF THE STUPID SIGN GAGS
I missed you so much
Also, very cursed Sonic on the right there. Somehow they only miscolored one of his arms, and I hate it. But that's old comics for you-
AND THEY SOMEHOW DO IT AGAIN
Tumblr media
And yet, I don't care because the swag on this Swat Bot as he deploys the trap is so funny to me. He even rhymes with Sonic's quip as he turns around to mock him! I love this guy!
I'm going to headcanon this is the same guy who was dancing in the fires of Uncle Chuck's chili dog stand in Issue #0. I shall dub him... Steve. Swat Bot Steve. My new favorite character.
Finally to end the issue we have this page which is just-
Tumblr media
I mean do I even have to say anything? It's perfect.
He even popped in from underneath the usual THE END! thing on the last page so he could go on this rant. I love it
Finally, the last issue of the mini-
Sonic the Hedgehog Mini-Series #3 - May. 1993
Tumblr media
This cover is... charming, I guess. Very Looney Tunes-esk, but still kinda... eh-
It gets ⭐⭐
This issue is also just kinda weird. The first two parts are extremely confusing-
Sonic gets cornered by Robotnik, falls off a cliff, and then has what I can only assume is a bizarre dream caused by a concussion because... I mean-
Tumblr media
We start off with this, Robotnik curses him and his Uncle which then causes-
Tumblr media
... I am so shocking lost rn. This doesn't even make any sense with the context from the rest of the issue
Chuck adopts Ivo after he loses his parents, and we get... this cursed thing.
Tumblr media
I hate him. I hate looking at him. Please make him go away-
He steals some parts from Chuck's tractor, which causes him to nearly get run over by it, which he decides to blame Chuck for, even after his robots rat him out.
Tumblr media
... I feel like Robotnik just invented a new form of cursing.
So he decides to make a mech out of every appliance in the house, Sonic beats him, and makes me even more confused as to how Chuck was responsible for any of this when the only thing he did was adopt him.
... I'm just gonna blame it on the concussion and move on.
The second story features Sonic pretending to be roboticized by wearing a bear trap on his face so he can trick Robotnik to do... something. I actually don't know what the plan was-
Something made even worse by the fact that both Sonic and Sally decide to trick Tails into thinking it's real, which he then decides to spread the word by making his own newspaper.
Tumblr media
This feels completely unnecessary, and as it turns out-
Tumblr media
IT ABSOLUTELY WAS
I can appreciate that Robotnik gave Sonic the job the Buzz Bomber wanted, and Sonic's little line here but like... WHY TRICK TAILS INTO SPREADING THE WORD IF YOU WERE JUST GONNA WALK RIGHT UP TO HIS FRONT DOOR SONIC!?!?
Like... poor little buddy did nothing wrong, and he gets to believe his hero turned on them for literally no reason.
Robotnik decides to test Sonic's loyalty by having him check out an alert at one of his factories, where we see a "Robot Chuck" being forced to make Crabmeats.
Tumblr media
Now I was going to complain about this, especially since we later see Muttski who is DEFINITELY a robot-
Tumblr media
But again, this is another way of showing continuity between issues. This is how Chuck looked in Issue #0, so this is how he looks here. And since I know this does get fixed in the actual series itself, I can give it a pass. It's at least staying consistent with its... inconsistency.
Anyways, Sonic runs back to Robotnik and tricks him into blowing up a Buzz Bomber Factory by telling him it was the coords for Knothole village, we get this little one liner as Buzz Bomber morns the loss of his entire family and Sonic leaves a bear trap on Egghead's rear, and that's the end of the mini series.
Tumblr media
[FINIS]
Overall, this was a fun read even if it was kind of a mixed bag. Issue #1 kinda sucked, this issue was all over the place, but Issues $0 and #2 were a really good time, and gives me hope that this might not be as much of a slog as I was expecting
Next week, I start on the actual series. Hoping to tackle at least four issues, but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for sticking with me through this very long post.
Catch you on the flip side!

The slog continues.
The general quality of the writing doesn't improve at all. It's just as mind-numbing as before, both in Headspace and Faraway Town. The only gag I found genuinely clever was the "P" keyboard key hovering above a toilet in Last Resort
I neglected to mention this in my original post, so I'd like to mention it now - one of the game's main antagonists is literally called Something. The writer must've thought that it'd sound mysterious and intimidating, but it just comes off as her not bothering to think of a proper name instead
Omori overcoming his fears in an instant via the game flatly informing the player that he's no longer afraid of heights/spiders/drowning is hilariously anticlimactic
The idea that Sweetheart represents Mari's more unsavory qualities/Mari herself is interesting. However, the game doesn't show the impact said unsavory qualities had on Mari, Sunny and their friends before the game's plot twist happened (nor does it ever show that Mari had any significantly unsavory qualities, for that matter), and the idea goes nowhere as a result. Moreover, if Sweetheart is supposed to represent Mari, what does it say about Mari, then, when Sweetheart is an obnoxious, immature narcissist who tries to force Hero to marry her multiple times?
Sweetheart's theme, World End's Valentine, is actually pretty neat! At the very least, it didn't make Beev's ears bleed like most of the soundtrack did lol. I think it's decent, but I don't understand the praise towards it since I've heard better music tracks
The books with Sunny's old memories in Lost Library ultimately amount to boring fluff that should've been shown rather than told if the game wanted it to have any weight. One book in particular tries to set up the argument that forms the backbone of the game's plot twist, but ends up inadvertently implying that Sunny flipped out at Mari because he wanted to watch more cartoons with his friends
Sunny reluctantly agrees to help his Best Friends Ever™ and his sister build their treehouse even after seeing them work their asses off for the whole day. Reluctantly. "I will just be their moral support" my ass
Sunny gaining all three plot-relevant fears at once because he fell nto a deep body of water from a great height due to a spider is a circumstance so contrived that it becomes hard to take this plot point seriously
Kel asks Sunny whether the latter wants to tag along for a trip to the supermarket and then immediately responds to the question for Sunny. I'd feel bad for the boy because he never gets a say in anything if I gave a shit about him
The game's tendency to write out sound effects like "sigh" in the dialogue boxes as if the characters are actually saying them out loud drove me insane. M U N C H
Aubrey and her Hooligan friends don't seem to be concerned about Sunny, who slashed Aubrey with a knife just the day prior, interacting with them at Gino's pizza joint. One of the Hooligans even loudly calls out Sunny and Kel's names if you interact with him, but the rest of the group have no reaction whatsoever
Kel reveals that Hero's nickname originated from his love of hero sandwiches, which is the dumbest explanation the writer could've come up with. It would've made more sense if it was treated as some sort of in-joke for Sunny's social circle, but Hero and Kel's parents inexplicably refer to their son, whose real name is Henry, as "Hero" too. Imagine consistently calling your child "Cheeseburger" without ever using their real name just because they like cheeseburgers
Polly entrusts Sunny and Kel, two 16-year-old children, with finding Basil when he goes missing even though she, as Basil's caretaker, is supposed to make sure this exact sort of thing doesn't happen. Talking to her later has her mention that she barely knows the kid she's been taking care of for two years. Polly sucks at her job lmao
(speaking of Basil, another thing I forgot to mention in the original post is his mental breakdown in his house's bathroom on the first day in Faraway Town. it's the epitome of the game's unintentional hilarity since the player still retains control of Sunny, which means that you can make him run circles around his best friend while the latter is presumably choking on his own tears. the game doesn't even make Basil look like he's having a breakdown either - he just stands in the center of the bathroom. likewise, Basil remarks that Sunny looks "scared", but inspecting the bathroom mirror shows the latter's default resting bitch face. amazing)
Kel doesn't allow Sunny to enter the bathroom in the former's house until you visit his room under the pretense of "I want to show you my room first!", unintentionally making him come off as an asshole
Kel doesn't even slightly protest against Sunny digging around in his mom's purse to steal the pepper spray. It makes sense that Kel wouldn't jump to his parents' defense given that he was largely ignored by them in favor of Hero, but it still felt a bit weird considering how morally upright he strived to be up to that point
Aubrey's reaction after she accidentally shoves Basil into the lake is as priceless as you'd expect. tfw you commit attempted murder
Tumblr media
Kel tells Sunny to dive into the lake and rescue Basil even though he should know that Sunny has a fear of drowning since he was there when Sunny nearly drowned in that very lake before. Not only that, but neither Kel nor Aubrey attempt to help Basil themselves, pointlessly arguing on the pier instead. They're such good friends, aren't they?
The choice prompt to save Basil doesn't have any sort of time limit to show the urgency of the moment and the game doesn't punish you at all if you choose "No". You can just have Sunny stand on the edge of the pier and do nothing while his best friend is drowning. game_design.exe
The "fight" against Sunny's fear of drowning is downright farcical because the animations for the skills Sunny needs to use in order to end the fight are the same as they were in the previous fights with his fears, which means that Sunny is breathing underwater. Logically, he should've died due to his breathing filling his lungs with too much water. So much for realism!
Hero frequently tends to sound less like a realistic person and more like a self-help booklet. He's mild and unremarkable otherwise
Hero asking Sunny to help him buy flowers for the former's mom doesn't make any sense. Why couldn't Hero just do that himself?
Finally, Hero's "Everything feels so different now... but it seems like you've pretty much stayed the same." line that he says while sleeping over at Sunny's empty house could have actually been poignant (considering that Sunny did spend the last 4 years being unable to move on from Mari's death) if the writing was competent enough to make the player care about any of these characters
All this, and we're still not even halfway through the game. Truth be told, I think it says a lot about the quality of OMORI's writing that the most fun we had with it was @the-crow-binary making memes about a completely different game concurrently with my playthrough.
Black Space awaits.
Currently replaying OMORI because I'm a masochist with my best friends @beevean and @the-crow-binary providing emotional support lmfao. Even despite how soul-crushingly boring it is, I think we're still having some sort of fun with this clusterfuck of a game
Highlights (and the misc. problems we've managed to spot) so far include:
I already knew that this game's length was detrimental to it during my first solo playthrough, but this playthrough is helping me put into perspective just how bloated OMORI is, even when it comes to an aspect like dialogue. For example, a single conversation between Space Boyfriend and the main cast took us approximately 5 minutes to get through, and it's not like the writing is gripping enough to make us give a shit about the characters or anything they're saying
Speaking of the dialogue, you can just see how hard it tries to be witty and Quirky™ the way Earthbound and indie RPGs like Undertale were. Needless to say, it fails horribly, and the end result of that was me having to fast-track some conversations because they were unfunny and weren't relevant at all
I got unintentionally (!) stuck in White Space for 15-20 minutes because I couldn't find the map the game needed me to find to let me open the door. Beev came to hate the repetitive 8-bit BGM the area had by the time I finally found the map lol. game_design.exe
Headspace's music is so ear-gratingly abysmal oh my god. I can only call it "dollar-store Kirby music" because that's the most appropriate description that comes to mind and I'm pretty sure Lost at a Sleepover gave Beev severe PTSD. Of course, the music of Faraway Town isn't any better: the "track" that plays in the first fight with Aubrey is less music than it is the result of an .exe file being put through an audio player. Sonic Chronicles might have some serious competition in the "worst video game soundtrack" category asdfghjkl
The plot of the Faraway Town segments is so cookie-cutter that it genuinely hurts to sit through. Character writing (or the lack thereof) aside, Sunny and Kel spend half a day loitering around the town and asking Aubrey's cronies where she is even though Kel could've easily gotten that information from Mikhael had he just indulged the latter's delusions of grandeur a little bit
Faraway Town's daytime sky is literally a scrolling JPEG of a cloudy sky. The battle backgrounds of the real world segments are edited JPEGs as well. Everyone's houses look exactly the same on the outside save for some of them being a different color. The developers spent six years and more than $200,000 on this game.
Sunny's fights against his fears are boring. You just need to wait until a particular turn when the game grants you a special skill you use to end the fight immediately. What was the point of designing these hallucinatory monsters if the player doesn't get to fight them at any point during the main route?
Aubrey (ostensibly) swinging a nail bat at Sunny is not treated with the same degree of realism as Sunny slashing her with a knife. Additionally, Aubrey rides away on her scooter just fine even though she's supposed to be bleeding
Mari's picnic baskets are inexplicably scattered all across the town and fulfill the exact same function as they do in Headspace. So much for realism!
I won two of the fights against Aubrey's goons even though I was trying to lose. gameplay.exe
Sunny is even more unpleasant than I remember. He doesn't respond to Basil - who is supposedly his best friend - when the latter talks to him, stays silent while (and after) Kel vents to him about Hero yelling at him and barges into the church despite Kel advising him to wait until the sermon ends. Why should I feel bad for him again?
Kel generally seems to treat Sunny like an actual baby, spelling out incredibly obvious things to the latter (e.g. that Sunny shouldn't be carrying a knife or walking in the road because it's dangerous) and making all of Sunny's decisions for him, to the point of not allowing Sunny to return into his own house until nighttime under the pretense of "there's so much to do! it's a brand new day!"
Finally, the "fight" against Sunny's fear of spiders comes completely out of nowhere since nothing triggered said fear during Sunny's adventures outside
Peak game, everyone.
And it's going to get way worse down the line!

YES. Show me the henriel
Here weeee gooo!!!!!!!!! (These aren’t well written cause they are from my notes app! Sashay)
Jekyll has studied law himself, does that mean at some point he went to law school just to spend longer time with Utterson?
Jekyll referred to utterson as “dear” in his final note. I remind you he supposedly ran out of his goods 8 days ago or so, so he saved the last bit to finally fess up to utterson. This is important: he would rather die than let him know how awful he was and even instructed utterson to read lanyon note (and first). Even though this makes sense story wise, it almost feels as though he let lanyon explain his guilt for him so he didn’t have to think about how utterson would react. They have a weird relationship because on one hand, utterson is frustrated that Jekyll still doesn’t understand that he wouldn’t judge him and can be himself with him. When he refused to shit talk lanyon it was out of concern and pushed back what Jekyll was clearly uncomfortable with to discuss his health; meanwhile, Jekyll likely thought utterson perceived his behavior as distasteful (he probably did but knowing Jekyll he obsessed over it) and supposedly didn’t refer to him again for the rest of the conversation. Jekyll just wants to be his best for utterson, because utterson is his favorite and if utterson doesn’t think he’s any good, nothing matters.
Quoting and more rambling undercut <3
“But he had an approved tolerance for others; sometimes wondering, almost with envy, at the high pressure of spirits involved in their misdeeds; and in any extremity inclined to help rather than to reprove.”
“‘I incline to Cain’s heresy,” he used to say. “I let my brother go to the devil in his quaintly own way.” In this character, it was frequently his fortune to be the last reputable acquaintance and the last good influence in the lives of down-going men. And to such as these, so long as they came about his chambers, he never marked a shade of change in his demeanour.”
(Both taken from Ch.1)
Utterson, from the beginning, is quite literally made for Jekyll. He helps those who are morally faulty and doesn’t judge them, rather prefers to help them. While Utterson has a decent moral code in place, he clearly likes to help others who do not seem to have the same; and, while he did not know it at the time, this makes his connection to Jekylls misdeeds unique.
This, to me, is at least a sign that if he ever found out, Utterson would be the only character who would be willing to help Jekyll and spare him from his judgment. Furthermore, this deep seated implication of Uttersons forgiving nature makes for an even more upsetting relationship.
“No doubt the feat was easy to Mr. Utterson; for he was undemonstrative at the best, and even his friendship seemed to be founded in a similar catholicity of good-nature. It is the mark of a modest man to accept his friendly circle ready-made from the hands of opportunity; and that was the lawyer’s way. His friends were those of his own blood or those whom he had known the longest; his affections, like ivy, were the growth of time, they implied no aptness in the object.”
(Ch.1)
I just like this one because of the particular use of the word “affections” and the idea that he has known Jekyll for a very long time, seeing the (implied) worst of him when they were younger. They clearly have something if they’ve stayed together for so long.
Something I believe is worth taking note is also the fact that Jekyll chose Utterson of, all available people, to be his lawyer. Some might say that is was to prevent Utterson taking any offense to Jekyll choosing someone else as his lawyer, but I remind you that if they were truly just friends and business partners, Uttersons has it in his character to forgive this. But I don’t believe this to be the case, rather, I believe Jekyll trusts Utterson and enjoys his company well enough to select him as a lawyer so they may meet and see each-other during business hours as well.
Utterson has a nickname for Jekyll, a shortened version of his name “Harry” which is mentioned a few times and that only he uses in the course of the novella.
He bought him a cane, and clearly took offense when it was broken after seemingly being handed to someone else as well. (Note it was a gift, it’s horrible to take a gift someone gave to you only to give it to someone else, let alone someone the original gift giver dislikes). But, viewing this situation from Jekyll’s perspective, he liked the cane and supposedly found it special enough to carry into his second form when he clearly had the funds to spare to buy his second form another cane.
I think one of the greatest arguments that non-shippers have of this pairing is that Utterson did not know about Lanyon and Jekylls feud. However, Utterson did not show any surprise when Jekyll mentioned him and proceeded to insult him rather childishly. This would seem to imply that Utterson is used to this and Jekylls general breaks in temperament.

Can't stop thinking about how Adrius, but can't stop thinking about Dadrius at the same time, so I fear I have no choice but to dump Adrian and Hunter HCs on you. Hope that's okay. If not, feel free to disregard.
First off they are the definition of trying to get along for someone else's sake. Adrian softens the tiniest bit towards Hunter after stoping the DOU, because clearly Belos was crazier than he thought. (Basilisk AU Adrian softens a lot more, because while he doesn't know all of what Hunter went through, he gets it)
Adrian has many feelings about Hunter being friends with Gus, and none of them are positive. Hunter finds it kind of funny, because it's not dissimilar to how he thought Darius would react to Hunter hanging out with the Blight kids. He tells Adrian this, and Adrian offers to throw a fit and 'play the bad guy' to give Hunter an out of hanging out with them if he feels uncomfortable with them. Hunter assures him that's not necessary. The offer still stands though.
Adrian loves movies. Hunter has never seen one. Adrian takes it upon himself to educate the boy on matter. Hunter actually really appreciates it, because he can tell Adrian a quote or reference his friends made that he didn't get and 90% of the time Adrian knows the movie.
Adrian tries and fails to teach Hunter is how to act. He does end up helping him become a decent liar though. Darius was pretty proud of them for that, though a little concerned that lying acting and movies are what they bond over.
At one point Hunter breaks down over how he looks (he can't get 'you look the most like him' out of his head) and Adrian gives him an illusion stone. Hunter considers it the kindest thing Adrian has ever done for him. He did not feel that way when he found out that he had told Darius about it. Adrien refuses to apologize because he knows from past experiences that while illusions can help with self image, they don't fix the problem. Hunter forgives him eventually. He tries to give him the stone back and Adrian tells him to keep it.
They never get super close, but they do eventually make each other list of 'poeple I care about and want to protect.'
AH Don't worry! That was literally my first thought before the episode was even out "Gay dads for Hunter! Gay dads for Hunter!"XD
And I do make them close because I am sucker for this kind of scenarious XD It won't be easy or perfect, the past biases play the part! They do start from doing it for Darius but then get to know each other on not antagonistic territory xD They all learn to be domestic <3
OHHJGHF This is actually hilarious XD Adrian not approving Gus and Darius not approving the Blight kids XD They know it's irrational(and outdated xD) but they can't help themselves XD Cue to that Turning Red scene:
Hunter: You shoud go now!
Blight kids/Gus: But Hunter-
Hunter: Go-go, my dad already doesn't like you.
Blight kids/Gus: Wait he doesn't?
I love how they bond over movies and theatricals in general! Just you wait until the human movies start to appear! Movie nights!! And there are things that Adrian doesn't know about human filmatography, and Hunter's general desire for knowledge will land them in their own movie researches! Although Adrian is not that strong(or willing) to keep himself up for hours and hours XD This is a good thing because he will wrap Hunter with his tail, rip away from his piles of books and force to sleep XD
JHG This is amazing, Adrian, Darius and Hunter were technically government workers yet they behave like potential criminals who don't do crimes just because they are content enough now to be on the side of the law XD The more specific reasons differ for each one of them, but they are literally one step away XD Adrian and Darius should teach Hunter that smug smile that promises trouble xD
And I LOVE the idea with illusion stone, especially in Basilisk AU! Even without it he and Darius stand on opposite sides of this argument, but with it this is just something Darius has to give up on(for now), because Adrian and Hunter have completely different point of view! Hunter does try to learn to accept all of himself and unfortunately Adrian's whole experience does the opposite. But they can still meet on shared links!

Hi there <3 I've read some of your works and i'm in love with your writing. May I please request a fluff gojo x fem!reader? Like they finished their work in the evening and spend the rest of the night together at home💕 It could be a oneshot or a hc, whichever you feel to write. Thank you so much ^^ I'm sorry just in case my request is somehow not really clear☺️
Of course! here you go <3
Mochi
Gojo Satoru x reader
Warnings: none! entirely fluff! this will quite literally rot your teeth. afab reader
a/n: this ended up being a little longer than I intended lol whoops
Word Count: 2.5k
Satoru Gojo is a busy man.
The strongest can't really take a break. He’s on call 24/7. People are pulling him in all directions simultaneously. With everything that's been going on, between the mess with Sukuna, and everything happening at the school, he’s been short on time.
He needs a break.
He's more tired than he lets on. He’s good at hiding it. Especially around his students. It's hard to pull him away from his work. He's insistent that he’s fine. When you’re around someone for so long, you learn to pick up when they aren't. He can pretend to be fine all he wants. You know otherwise.
Sometimes what the strongest needs is someone to boss him around.
He’s capable of taking care of himself. He’s proven that already. But worrying is in your nature. You care about him, of course you’re going to worry.
You were a first year when you met him, having just transfered schools after an incident involving a curse. In a matter of weeks your life had seemingly been flipped on its head. The switch took some time to get used to. Switching schools your first year, let alone switching to this one in particular, was never going to be easy. Getting used to the way Jujutsu society worked took a while. He was a year above you, and you remember absolutely hating him. Gojo was insufferable- or you found him to be such. But he was friends with Nanami, who was a friend of yours, so you reluctantly hung out with him. Nanami, being in the same year as you, was the first to help you out, extending a hand and helping you get used to the way things worked.
Spending time with him didn't do much to change your views. The two of you couldn't have been more different. You still are. But something about opposites attracts.
The first time you gave him the benefit of the doubt was the first time he saved your life.
It may be a bit of an over exaggeration. You’re certain you would have survived without his help, but that could also be an attempt to preserve your pride. You went after a curse, not expecting it to be as strong as it was. As far as you knew, it shouldn't have been stronger than a grade three. Being a grade two at the time, this should have been well in your ability. There ended up being more than one curse, and they were stronger than anyone had realized. You were in over your head.
It wasn't your fault. You couldn't have known. It's not like you could pick and choose which curses you fought. As a student, that was decided for you.
You had resigned to your fate, separated from the others, injured. Nothing fatal. It left a cool scar, though. But you were well out of your league, put on an assignment far harder than you could deal with. You hate to admit defeat, but you had no other option.
Out of what seemed like thin air came Gojo, taking out both curses like it was nothing. Despite not liking him all that much, it was hard to not be impressed. He was strong. Stronger than you could ever hope to be.
You made it home in one piece.
It was three days before you’d finally confront him.
Getting him alone was hard enough. Being an underclassman, you didn't interact with him a whole lot. You didn't have any classes together. The few times you ran into him were when you hung out with Nanami, who was gone at the time.
When the opportunity presented itself, you took it, cornering him behind the school.
Even back then it was impossible to sneak up on him. He could sense you coming.
“Jesus-” he said, referring to you by your last name, “you look like you want to kill me.”
“You helped me out.” You said. “Why?”
He only shrugged. Not wanting to take that for an answer, you followed him. You were insistent you paid him back. You’d never let a debt like that go unpaid. The first debts are always the hardest to pay back. And when a first debt involves saving your life, well, you’ve got a lifetime to pay back. You only left once Gojo showed up. He needed to talk to Gojo about something, and although you were curious, you didn't feel like sticking around.
Gojo spent the next couple days scheming. You were determined enough you would do just about anything. He could have easily abused his power. It would have been even easier to force you to drop it, but something told him you weren't about to take no for an answer.
You wouldn't.
3pm in the bathrooms. It was hardly a week later. Your last class had ended for the day. You had snuck cigarettes in, blowing the smoke out of the crack in the window. You don't smoke anymore, but you went through nearly a pack a day in high school. There wasn't a specific brand you liked—you didn't necessarily like smoking, but you did it when you were stressed—you just used whatever you got ahold of.
You didn't hear the door open. Gojo wasn't the sneaky type, but he could be when he wanted. You weren't too hard to sneak up on.
If you didn't have contraband that likely would have gotten you expelled, you would have screamed when you saw him. He scared you, not to mention he snuck into the girl’s bathrooms. The two of you would be in equally deep shit if you reported the other. So at that moment you came to a silent agreement.
“You still want to pay me back?” He asked. “Cause I have an idea.”
You perked up at his words.
“Get me mochi from that shop just down the road. You know the one that just opened up?” He asked. “Bring me some and I’ll call us even.”
“That's it?” You asked. It was almost anticlimactic. But despite everything, he was insistent.
Gojo hasn't changed a whole lot since then.
He still has his sweet tooth. He still makes you get him mochi from that shop. It feels like you’re the ones keeping it in business nowadays.
You’re not quite sure who made the first move.
Soon you began spending more time together away from Nanami and Geto. You got along better than anyone—mostly you—ever expected. You weren't the most outwardly affectionate. While you were far from shy, pda wasn't really your thing. Gojo is the opposite. Even now, years after you began dating, he’s still clingy. You’ve gotten used to it. Gojo is possessive, he wants everyone to know you’re his. Not that they don't know already. He can't shut up about you.
Getting him alone has always been hard. Not much has changed in the past few years. He’s only gotten busier. Try to drag him away from work all you want, you rarely succeed.
Tonight he's come willingly. He finished his work early, and all you had left was stuff you could finish in the morning.
Nights at home like this—together—are rare. It feels like you hardly see him anymore. You often fall asleep alone, only to wake up to the other side of the bed being cold. He’s been so occupied with this business with Yuji, that he’s hardly had time for anything else. You sneak away during your breaks, like you’re teenagers again, stealing kisses between classes. You almost don't know what to do.
It almost feels like you should do something to celebrate.
The lights are off when you get home. Your apartment looks empty. Megumi must still be out with his friends.
“What should we do for dinner?” Gojo asks.
“Takeout?” You say. "I don't feel like cooking."
Gojo’s a decent cook, but he doesn't feel like doing so either. He’d get takeout every night if you’d let him. But that's not good for him (or Megumi) so you force him to do otherwise. Because you’re normally home, and you like baking, you’re usually the one to make dinner. There's not much in the fridge. You'll have to get groceries eventually. Not tonight. Maybe tomorrow. It shouldn't take long.
“How does Korean barbeque sound?" He asks. "From that place down the street?”
"Sounds good,"
You find a menu buried in one of your kitchen drawers, stashed with other takeout menus. You pick out something—two meals, plus some sweet buns for dessert—he calls the restaurant. You pay the extra cash to have it delivered. Neither of you feel like going and picking it up. It's more convenient than the alternative.
The tv drones on in the background while you wait. There’s not much on tv at this hour. News, some late night soaps. While you do like your occasional soap opera, none that you normally watch are on. Gojo changes it to the news. The weather. It looks like it'll rain tomorrow morning, but the rest of the day is supposed to be warm.
"We should go to the park tomorrow," you say, "having a picnic sounds nice."
Gojo hums in approval. As long as you make those tea cakes—the ones with honey drizzled on top—he'll agree to tag along. Maybe you'll go check out the bookstore too. It's been a while since you've last gone.
You strip out of your uniform, pulling on some more comfortable clothes; a pair of shorts and one of Gojo's shirts. It smells like him. You can't help but bury your nose in the collar.
When there’s a knock at the door, Gojo is the one to answer. He returns with your food. You gather napkins and utensils. Gojo never saw the point in anything other than stainless steel chopsticks. Or wooden ones—those given to you with takeout—if he wasn't feeling up to doing dishes. You, on the other hand, bought all sorts of colorful ones and stands that may or may not have been lifted from various restaurants. That's one habit from your teenage years you never lost. You'd pocket almost anything that wasn't nailed down. Your apartment has a rather impressive assortment of salt and pepper shakers. Not to mention the box of hotel soaps you never use, but took because you "might" need it. He enables you, taking some whenever he stays out of town, bringing them home for you. Gojo can hardly say no to you.
Gojo settles next to you on the couch, his shoulder pressed to yours. He can't keep his hands off of you. He’s possessive by nature. Everyone has to know you’re his. He always has to be touching you. Not necessarily with his hands, but he presses his thigh against yours while sitting next to you, or his body pressed against yours from behind in public.
The two of you eat in relative silence. Gojo’s attention turns to the tv, but that doesn't stop him from practically laying on top of you. Occasionally he’ll sneak bites of your food, and you of his.
When you’re done, you clear away the empty containers, sitting any leftovers in the fridge. Gojo sprawls out on the couch. He easily takes up any bit of space. The couch can hardly fit all 6-foot-something of Gojo. It hardly fits you. You've been meaning to look for another one, but haven't found the time to.
He opens his arms, and instinctively you go into them. You move so you can rest partially against the arm of the couch, Gojo's head leaning against your shoulder. His arms loop around your waist, his fingers lacing over your stomach.
It doesn't take him long to begin to drift off. He falls asleep in the crook of your neck. The low sound of the tv, combined with the warmth of his body makes you want to drift off to sleep. Sleeping on the couch like this isn't very good for your (or his) back, but you don't want to move.
The next time your eyes open, some late night game show plays, disturbing your sleep with loud music. The clock on the wall reads some time past two. It's hard to read the minute hand. You gently shake Gojo awake. One of his eyes cracks open and he lets out a soft “hm?”
“Come to bed,” you say, your arms wrapping around his neck, “it's late.”
His eyes close, and for a moment you think he’s drifted back off to sleep, when his grip around you tightens, and he’s rolling over on top of you.
“I think I’ll stay here with you, mochi,” he says, planting a wet kiss to your neck. The feeling of his lips on your neck makes you shiver.
And though he doesn't move, there's a look in his eyes that tells you he has something planned. You only notice too late that his grip never loosens, and the mischievous glint to his eyes. You couldn't wiggle out of it if you wanted to. You're effectively trapped.
He litters your neck with kisses, sending you into a giggling fit, and he doesn't stop until you’re begging him to. Tears prick at the corners of your eyes from laughing. Your nails dig into your palms so hard they leave little crescent-shaped indents.
When you finally settle down, he’s pulling you into his arms bridal style, heading for your shared room. The bed is still unmade from this morning. Neither of you bothered to put it away. You were busy, and the thought slipped your mind.
Gojo shoves the covers aside, pulling you to lay on his chest. His fingers gently trace up the curve of your spine as he watches the steady rise and fall of your chest. Goosebumps prickle your exposed skin. He’s careful with how he touches you, loving, and soft. It's like he’s trying to memorize every inch of your body. His heartbeat is audible. Steady, and quet, acting as a lullaby. Your eyes shut, but you’re still awake. The intimacy of the moment doesn't go over your head.
He thinks he could die happy at this moment. Any moment, with you, really. Even during fights, or nights where he doesn't come home until long after you’ve fallen asleep, and you’re left irritated with his lack of time. As long as you’re by his side, he’s content.
He doesn't give much to the thought of settling down. His work will never let him. Neither does he think much about having any biological children. You practically have two already. Settling down isn't really an option for the strongest. This is the closest he’ll get to it.
For now, he just thinks about the park, and the blue sundress you always wear when you go.
Not many people can say they’ve changed who Satoru Gojo is as a person—let alone for the better—but you’ve changed him twice. Once in your meeting behind the school, and once again tonight. He’s found the one.
The first debt is always the hardest to pay back. But you've paid it in full.

i literally wrote meren to complement astarion but i'm still like wow, meren and astarion really complement each other and i'm fucked up about it.
like.
you're a trans elf from a culture that threw you away because of it. you clawed your way out of the underdark, both womb and grave, and wandered this bleak, bright land until you managed to numb yourself to it.
until you managed to find something in the world above worth holding onto, until you found music. you're a brilliant mimic, all of your kind are, a mockingbird, sharp, clever, your teeth flashing in your dark grin. people are drawn to you for the same reasons you repel them-- you're unusual, exotic, you look like you might be dangerous.
you travel, a man without a country, because you can never go home. your fans are many but your friends are few, because a drow who sings of the sea of the starless night and the mushroom forests and the glittering city of menzoberranzan with the kind of heartache you sing them may fascinate and is good for a show and maybe for a night but never in the morning, never when they have to reckon with all of you. the kind of stories you weave, full of beauty and danger and the terror of walking on the edge of a knife melt in the sun and leave you behind, just someone getting older alone. out on the water without a point of reference on the horizon, that's what it's like to be the only person who is like you. no stars to steer a ship by.
you're not good, but you can do a decent approximation of it for a time. enough so that you're never entirely unwelcome anywhere, even as you don't truly fit.
and then you wake up on a mind flayer ship and you somehow escape. and for the first time in a very long time you're afraid. it's like being thrust back in time-- you're unsure of your own mind, and your body may betray you at any moment, and the message pounding through your veins is to run. but the woman you'd rescued on the ship is lying up the beach from you, and you pull yourself together because you can't let her see your fear. even with centuries between you and the underdark you know it is death to let a woman see your fear.
and then you meet him. and it's like looking into a broken mirror. the parasite lets you see into him, the streets of Baldur's Gate through the eyes of someone both predator and prey, and his fear sings to your own. his body is coursing adrenaline, too, pushing him to raise a knife. when you say you might have done the same if your roles were reversed, he relaxes minutely, though his eyes remain hard and calculating.
and the rest of your party sees you as this hero, somehow, because of a series of choices that in hindsight don't seem like choices at all, just the natural reaction to events unfolding. but he doesn't. he is full of resentment, he hurls bitterness at you, your kindness, your mercy, it's a waste of time and resources. and you don't react because you've been there, you were him, once, blinded by the sun and the world around you full of people who want to help each other. who don't see every vulnerability as something to exploit.
and he is mask under mask under mask, and when you look at him, really look, you have to keep yourself from reeling back, because it's like holding up two mirrors. he reminds you that you are mask under mask under mask, reminds you that the decisions you're making are arbitrary, that it's the others, gale and karlach and wyll and shadowheart more and more every day that make your actions good. they see goodness in you, and you let them believe it is there, but he points out that you just traded goblin lives for tiefling. he knows something about you that the others don't, just as you know something about him that the others don't.
and as your adventure progresses and he peels back layers of himself like he's reopening a wound, something that's barely scabbed over, you draw him to you, because how can you not? how can you not when you've been where he is, alone in a world that does not hate him in the way the world he left had done, but which instead burns with worse indifference. of course he's drawn to the idea of taking the power his master had set out to create. power, after all, is freedom. you grew up part of one of the great houses of menzoberranzan, you understand this. so when he doesn't, you recognize it as the turning point it is, the moment where he's decided it's no longer worth it to avoid being hurt if that avoidance also means he is alone.
he resigns himself to returning to the shadows, to the half-life he'd lived before the parasites, before your little family formed. but as the others go their separate ways, you go after him. because, after years and years and years, you've finally grown strong enough to admit that what you want is to go home. you saved the world, took down a cult and the corrupt political system within Baldur's Gate, and after that the idea of facing the inter-house scheming of menzoberranzan seems like child's play. and he, oh, the two of you would be brilliant there, with his manipulation and the way you can talk your way out of any problem and his political acumen and your knowledge of the social structure of the city that made you. he would be radiant down below. together you could remake the city of your birth into a place worthy of the songs you sing.
